Hi guys! My name is Caroline, welcome to my channel, and today I will be talking
about to the eight books that I have not read, but I've had for a long time that I
must get to next year. This is not to be confused with the most anticipated books
of 2018, or books that I'm looking forward to reading 2018, these are the
books that I feel it is my duty to complete. Let's go!
Number one is Heartless by Marissa Meyer. I liked this book. I started to read it,
then something happened. I don't know why, but I think I just like picked up
another book while I was reading it, and then moved on with that book and did not
return to this one. I enjoyed the start of this book, but I
just couldn't get beyond... Wow! There's there's where my magnetic bookmark went! I
couldn't get past page 119, so I made progress, but I think this book moves at
such a different pace than what I'm used to reading, so I had a hard time
continuing and moving past the beginning plot. You know, getting to know the
characters, getting to know the world, all that stuff, and I just missed out. Gosh
darn it! I could not continue reading, So if you've never heard about this book,
Heartless is by Marissa Meyer. She wrote the Lunar Chronicles, which she is best
known for, as well as the Wires and Nerve graphic novel following her character
Iko or Iko, after the Lunar Chronicles books end. I love this one. It's a graphic
novel, it's awesome. I loved the series, and then I wanted to read this one.I
haven't fully read it! Gosh! Sorry. All this head banging. That's
how I express myself, I suppose. I need to finish this book. It's beautiful!
I mean, seriously! I took so many Instagram pictures of it, and then I
never read it! Moving on, number 2 is A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab! I
recently read A Darker Shade of Magic for the first time, since I originally
read it which was the summer of 2016? I read it the first time, and I was like
I don't know...it was okay, I have other books to read. This time, I read it, I bought
this book back at the beginning of the year as well as the first book,
determined to read it. I've read the first one, but I haven't read this one.
The first book is more fresh in my mind than it was when I read it in the
summer of 2016, so I feel as though I can finally move into this one. Maddie from
the book pusher... she said when I relayed this to her that she thinks that the
first book is the slowest in the series, and that the second book is her favorite.
I really want to read this book so that I can get invested in these
characters, and this world, and the magic, and I just need to get into it.
So really, past Caroline, why haven't you read this already? I... I don't know! It's
something that I must do! I must accomplish this! Read it gosh
darn it Caroline! Read it! If you're watching this in two months, you should
read it already. Then of course, we have The Winners Curse by Marie Rutkowski. This
is in a book haul that I got from Book Outlet a long time ago, I was like, pretty
cover! I've heard great people talk about it. Sounds fun!
But I never read it, so this has been sitting on my shelf, and this beautiful
dress and this beautiful sword have been sitting on my shelf. It's gone to two
different college dorms, it's been on this bookshelf, probably my old bookshelf,
maybe. I still read it, so this book is a political YA fantasy, and it focuses
on this girl named Kestrel, and this slave named Aaron they meet (yes I had
look at the back cover for the names cause I totally forgot). I read like ten pages
then put it down, okay? This book is about them and their forbidden love, I
guess and how they're both from different countries, they both have
different loyalties so to be in this relationship, they either have to betray
their loved one, or they have to betray their country. So it's all about loyalty,
and it deals with court drama and rebellion (things like that), and it sounds
totally up my alley, but I haven't read it yet! Then Truthwitch by Susan Dennard.
Once again, this is the book that I started but did not finish. *makes strange sound*. I think
I was reading Peter Pan at the time and I was too busy being angry about that
book to continue with this book. I've heard great things about it, it's published by
Tor! The same people who did all the VE Schwab books which are awesome, and I
haven't continued with it! This is a theme! This book is about a Truthwitch,
and a Threadwitch, and they are best friends. Sofia and Iseult. Iseult? I
don't know how to pronounce that name. That's what YA fantasy does to you,
peeps. You never know if you're saying things correctly. These girls, these
witches are running away from society? I don't know. Because Sofia is being
followed. People want to steal her so that they can use her her for her
ability which is to find out when someone is telling a truth or a lie, so
she is a hot commodity in this world, and she and her friend must battle emperors
and princes, and mercenaries to get away from these
people during a period of brewing war, and it sounds awesome.
I still haven't read this one and it's blurred by Sarah J Maas which is
probably, you know... okay! Those are all the physical books that I haven't read yet
or started to read but did not finish, because I'm a failure. Let's get on to
the ebooks. I have a lot of ebooks that I buy because they're 99 cents or $1.99
and I know that I want to read them, and I don't get to them!
I recently finally read An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I've had it on my
Amazon app (kindle app) for like... I want to say like a year? A year and a half? I recently got A
Torch Against the Night which is its sequel. I hadn't read the first book
but I still had the second book so like mm! Anyways, I read the first book now,
finally, and now I must read A Torch Against the Night because I want to know
what happens. An Ember in the Ashes focuses on Leia and Elias. So, Leia is a slave
and Elias is a soldier, and they are on opposite sides, but they have this
connection over their values and what they want versus what they are forced to
do because of their station and because of their births. So they both go on this
adventure and try to right the wrongs that exist in the world, but also they
have to deal with what's expected of them, and being beaten up by the bad
guys and all that stuff. I really enjoyed the first book, I went through it really
quickly. I stayed up until like 3:00 a.m. both
nights trying to read it, and I'm really glad that I did, but I want to know
what happens to these characters. I want to know what happens, I want to know what
happens to the world, I want to know! So I need to get off my butt and read the
darn book! I'm really excited to read Eliza and her Monsters by fan Francesca
Zappia, because I've heard so many great things about it. It sounds a lot like
Radio Silence by Alice Oseman to me, because it's about a girl named Eliza
who's in high school, who has her popular web comic series. She doesn't have a lot
of social interaction. I've heard from other people who've read the book that
she deals with anxiety, and she meets this transfer student who's like the
biggest fan fiction writer for this web comics series, and she begins to start a
relationship with him, but the secret of her being the creator comes out, and it
topples her world, her relationship, and it makes things really hard for her. So
I'm really excited to see this portrayal of anxiety and to see media be involved
in this book to such a degree. I've heard wonderful things about the book and it's
portrayal of anxiety, and I really want to get to it, but haven't! Moving on to the next one,
History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. It's about a boy named Griffin
whose ex-boyfriend Theo has passed away, and the only person who understands what
he's going through is Jackson, who was Theo's boyfriend. So he has to deal with
that conflict, as well as he has to cope with OCD and the downward spiral that
begins when he's in this tough time in his life, and it sounds like it's gonna
be really heart-wrenching, but I'm really excited to read it. I really like how
Adam portrays all of these mental illnesses in such a great way, his books
are so rich and so character driven and awesomely written, and I just really want
to get to this one. And I really want to get to They Both Die at the End, but
that's not in this video. So let's go to the next one. Graceling by Kristen
Cashore. I've heard great things about this from some people, I think it's an
oldie really for booktube. I think it's early 200s, maybe. It's about
this girl, who is the king's niece and an assassin. She has this power to
assassinate people, I guess? Due to being a Graceling. She begins to have feelings
for the prince, and she swept up in this finding out what the Graceling thing
means for her, and how she came to have these powers. Sounds magical, sounds fun.
Assassins are involved, so I'm on board gosh darn it. I want to get to all of
these books, these have been on my TBR for so long. I must get to them, it must
read them, I must talk about them, and I really hope that I'll be able to review
these for you in the future, and you'd be able to be like "Caroline you DID
read that one!" and I'll be like "Thanks guys, I finally got to it!" Now I have this
video to keep me accountable if I ever fall off the bandwagon and start running
to the library. I need people to tell me "Caroline get your stuff together! Get
back to those books that you mentioned you really wanted to read." And I would
really appreciate you telling me that in the comments in my future videos, that
would be awesome, would totally appreciate that. Please tell me if you
have books that you've had for your ever that you have not gotten to yet, whether
that's physical copies or Kindle books or whatever. I would love to know, and let
me know if you've read any of these books, and whether you have any idea of
which book I should start with, because I don't really know. Thank you guys so much
for watching this video, I hope you liked it. If you did, be sure to like, comment,
and subscribe, so you can stay connected with me and my channel. If you also want
to follow me on Twitter and Goodreads, I post there a lot, and
I love to be involved with you guys there.Thank you guys so much for
watching this video, I hope you have a wonderful reading day, and I will see
you guys in my next one. Bye! I've had it on my Kindle app for every and I haven't
gotten to it yet, that's what this video is all about! Once again, two months now from
Caro...two months from now Caroline, why haven't you read this yet? Read it read

gosh darn it, read it.
