Youtube daily report w Dec 27 2016

South Korea has unveiled an ambitious plan to support at least one-hundred vital technologies

to raise their competitiveness on the global stage.

This... as the government moves to be better prepared for the so-called "Fourth Industrial

Revolution."

Kim Ji-yeon has the details.

The government says it will systematically support the development of some one-hundred

technologies by 2025 considered vital in the so-called "Fourth Industrial Revolution."

The plan unveiled by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Monday, includes the

development of materials and components necessary for the commercialization of the fifth generation

of LTE internet connectivity used among the general public... including the development

of 5G telecommunications modems.

Other tech development under the plan includes the development of navigation equipment for

aircraft, high-strength aluminum, lithium batteries with high energy density and bio-ceramic

materials for dental implants.

To help the plan become reality, the ministry says it will reform its infrastructure support

system, which is currently divided into 15 sections to be reshuffled into five main sectors

of automobile and machinery, ceramic and electronics, fiber, chemicals and metals.

It adds that it will provide support in all of the tech developmental stages ranging from

research and development, infrastructure building, and manufacturing, to exports... instead of

the current method of providing support when obstacles occur.

The ministry also says it will increase the number of smart factories from the current

26-hundred plants to 10-thousand by 2020.

It will also support the development of eco-friendly technology including the development of refrigerants

that don't harm the ozone layer by reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the air.

Koreans give back to community with donations of talent - Duration: 2:45.

The holiday spirit hasn't died down in the nation.

A number of Koreans are participating in an activity known as talent sharing.

In many ways it's a better way of contributing to society than just financial donations.

Lee Unshin explains further.

For more than a decade, Kim Jung-soon has been doing volunteer work at a global charity

center.

For the project she's working on, people knit bonnets for babies in regions of Africa and

Asia,... so they can stay warm at night, when temperatures drop sharply.

But none of the other volunteers have the knitting skills that Mrs. Kim does.

"People send in the hats they knitted, but before we send them to babies around the world,

I check to see if they need touching up.

Some are too small, some have a hole in them, or the knot on them can be too loose, so I

make sure they are just right."

Her commitment and her gift for knitting and garment repairing plays an important role

at the center, to say the least.

"Over the past ten years, Koreans have donated over one-and-a-half million hand-made bonnets.

But no one is as skilled or dedicated enough to do the work she does."

"What Kim does here goes beyond conventional volunteer work.

She's engaged in talent sharing, which allows people with expertise in certain areas to

contribute their talents to society."

In Korea, an alternative way of serving the community is making use of one's talents or

skills for charitable causes, in what has come to be known as 'talent donation.'

Among thousands of registered local volunteer organizations and groups, the number of those

that require specific expertise such as beauty care, education or consulting has been on

the rise since 2011.

And the number of people sharing their skills in a wide variety of fields, including performing

arts and housing maintenance, is only expected to expand, for a number of reasons.

"The common reason for not doing volunteer or charity work is that some people believe

they don't have enough time or money to do it.

But with talent sharing, that can't be an excuse.

Anyone can share their special talent with society."

Korea's education minister to announce how, when gov't will introduce new history textbook - Duration: 0:52.

The education ministry is due to announce how and when it will use a new history textbook

for middle-and high-school students.

The book has stirred controversy as it was written by historians and experts hand-picked

by the government.

Education minister Lee Joon-sik is set to give a press conference... in a few hours

from now . The ministry's plan is based on a survey it

conducted for about a month from late November.

The ministry asked the public to offer their opinions on the textbook via the Internet.

Originally, the ministry was planning to introduce the new textbook in March to juniors in middle

and high-schools across the country.

But facing strong opposition, pundits forecast it's unlikely the ministry will push through

with its original plan.

Parents Demand Teacher Be Removed After Setting Up Satanic Display by Nativity Scene - Duration: 2:35.

Parents Demand Teacher Be Removed After Setting Up Satanic Display by Nativity Scene.

Parents were outraged after a local teacher set up a horrifying display next to the towns

Nativity scene.

They were fighting to get him removed from his position with good reason.

Boca Raton, Florida, parents have started a petition to remove Preston Smith from the

middle school where he teaches because of the display that he allegedly set up that

depicted a 10-foot pentagram with a banner that read, May the Children Hail Satan.

The display sat next to a Nativity scene and a menorah in a public park, according toThe

Daily Caller.

The parents were concerned that Smith may be spreading his satanic views to his pupils,

something Solange Bush, the mother of a 14-year-old boy, was not happy about.

I just dont feel comfortable about it and I dont agree with it, Bush said.

Attempts to switch her son out of the class were unsuccessful.

According to reports, Smith defended his exhibit and added that he didnt share his views

with his students.

May the Children Hail Satan is an artistic expression of defiance toward the

Sanborn Square Nativity scene, which performs an annual re-enactment of predatory indoctrination

in a public park targeting young children before they have critical thinking skills,

he reportedly stated.

Boca Raton Middle School Superintendent Robert Avossa said that he understood the parents

concerns but that the school was not in a position to micromanage a teachers

actions off school premises.

However, the townspeople were not sitting idly by.

The sign has reportedly been vandalized multiple times and knocked down.

Smith was granted permission from the city of Boca Raton to erect the display, according

to WPTV.

The liberal agenda has moved in on Christmas and it shows no sign of slowing down.

This is what happens when we become too politically correct.

Captions and Movie Theaters - Duration: 4:05.

Closed captions in movie theaters...

This is going to be a pretty lengthy topic but,

I'll make it into two videos.

So, let's get started.

A lot of hearing people ask me, how do I watch movies when going to the movie theater.

so I thought I'd make a video for those who are curious.

And those who have not asked me yet.

Most movie theaters nowadays...

Not all of them...

but most of them nowadays carry closed caption devices.

The closed caption devices or the ones that I have used so far

are the closed captioning stands

and the closed captioning glasses.

The closed caption glasses are a wide pair of tinted glasses

that display the subtitles

and it's attached to these wires

that are attached to a box that you

wear around your neck.

Even though this sounds like a good idea,

I have only used this device twice.

And there are few reasons why.

Number one.

I get tangled up in all the wires that

I need to wear around my neck

when I'm trying to put them on.

(Choking)

Number two.

I wear glasses.

I mean I have my contacts in now, but I wear glasses.

See... look at my glasses.

And those of you that have glasses know how uncomfortable it is to have

glasses on top of glasses

on top of glasses on top of

glasses on top of glasses.

So if I run out of contacts...

yeah.

Closed caption stands.

The device is a LED light screen that displays the closed captions.

And it's attached to this long flexible pole.

that you can insert into your cup holder.

And adjust the screen wherever you want to see the closed captions.

I use this device often.

However, there are a couple of downsides to it.

One of them being the closed captions don't show up right away on the device.

So I spend a lot of time before the movie

worrying if the captions are going to show up or not.

There has been a lot of times where I've had to

get up during the movie, when it just started

or in the middle of the movie

and go find somebody who could fix the captions for me.

Some places forget to charge the device.

So the closed captions will turn off completely.

Would you want the audio turning off during the movie?

Also the LED light screen can be a hassle to adjust

depending on where you're seated.

It's easiest to adjust the screen when you're sitting in the

middle row of the movie theater.

But those seats are also, the most impossible to get.

So that means if I show up late and I'm seated all the way in the front row,

I'm gonna basically be holding my caption device

something like right over my face and it's gonna be

blocking the entire screen.

I've done it before.

It's not cute.

There are also some theaters that have open captioned movies.

Open captioned movies are basically captions

that are displayed directly on the screen.

Just like if you were going to watch

a foreign film with subtitles.

Open captioned theaters are the jackpot!

However, I have only been to one of them when I was younger.

And I don't remember what movie it was but

I remember just thinking that it was some kind of

dream that I had.

And I still think it's a dream because I'm never able

to find any open captioned theaters available

in San Francisco or the Bay Area.

New movie theaters need to start providing open captioned movies.

But I'll explain more about the importance of them in the next video.

Anyways, I hope you guys learned something today.

If you did, pass this video and share it so another person can learn something today.

In a couple of weeks, I'll be talking about open captioned movies theaters

and the importance of them.

So make sure to subscribe or add me or Instagram, all that.

And yeah.

Have a great day!

I'll see you all later!
