today we're talking about five must dues to get rid of your mummy tummy forever
hi I'm Linda Poirier with bodies after babies.com helping you fit into your
jeans get your sexy back and find a life of happy having a mummy tummy sucks you
look in the mirror there it is you put your clothes on there it is you go in
the car and you put on your seat belt there it is again even the thought of
putting on a bathing suit can pretty much send anybody running to hide like
an ostrich buries their head in the sand I know I've been there it's frustrating
especially if you have lost the weight but you still have that little Poochie
in the front but it can be helped you just need to know where to start and
what you can do so here are five must dues that you can do to get rid of your
mummy tummy for good number one is get rid of the gap doctors do not tell us
about this which is really unfortunate because a lot of women have a lot of
issues with this and I'll get to it in just a minute
they do have issues and nobody ever tells them that it could be something so
I'll explain what I mean what I mean by the gap is something called diastasis
recti or some people call it diastasis recti and what that is there is a gap
that runs along your tummy line your abs separate when you're pregnant from the
heaviness or the weight of your baby that pushes on that abdominal wall now
we don't even know to check for it which is absolutely crazy to me because I feel
like if doctors talked about this more often then we can catch these things
it's not about the aesthetics of it even there's functionality to it and a lot of
women suffer and a lot of women need to go and get operated on you may be
experiencing pelvic floor issues lower back issues and so on the more babies
you have the likelier it is that you have this gap but you can still get this
even on your first baby it is really important to get things checked out and
also learn how to stay away from things that aggravate it
makes things worse I will be doing a future video on it so that you can test
for this gap and it is rated in finger widths in how wide the gap actually is
some people it'll go all the way from the top to the bottom and some people
will have it more along just their belly buttons it just depends on the severity
of it for me I had two finger widths all the way coming down and it did close up
I still have a little bit left at that belly belly button area but you can work
on it and you can fix it and once you help that gap your stomach will not
protrude as much and some may find it even goes flat now I did use something
called the Belly Bandit which was actually something while I was pregnant
to support my lower back but I used that after I had my baby to keep things tight
and heal and I did find that when I had it on it did keep things in tight and it
did flatten my belly a little bit but you had to do it daily otherwise just
pooch right now but these are the things sometimes that when you the way you get
out of bed makes a difference the way you stand makes a difference the way you
sit makes a difference if you're slouching and you have a gap well guess
what it's going to go wider so things that you have to be careful of so so the
gap is the number one thing because most women don't even know they have it and
that could reduce their mommy tummy in a big way number two we lead in with is
focus on your posture mummies tend to have a float about them and what's
called a sway back and if you ever in love today when you're out and about
take a look at how mummy stand and a lot of times they have this stomach oh and
slouch to them and it makes your belly look bigger so you have to focus on your
posture and the way you're standing and it's hard because when you're pregnant
you have that weight sometimes things everything shifts but if you
focus on your posture and your standing go up against the wall and see where
those gaps are when you're standing I bet it feels really awkward and you
might find your abs are doing a good work out the way we push a stroller hold
our kids cook our dinner and the way you even nurse if you are in that nursing
stage all those things play a part of making your tummy worse number three is
to lose weight you can fix your mummy tummy you can fix that gap you can work
on your posture but if you have that extra weight then you're still going to
have that belly so focus on nutrition and on exercise and we'll get to that in
a later more in-depth video about exercising if you have diastasis recti
but first and foremost is that nutrition first before you even hit that exercise
because you can exercise all you want but if you're not doing the nutrition
properly then you might as well just sit knee cookies anyway because it really
does start in the kitchen if you ever see bodybuilders or fitness
models or not that you want to look like that
but if you see them they are dials in in their nutrition 80% of their nutrition
and 20% of their training so focus on the nutrition there's I have lots and
lots of videos and there'll be lots more so that you can really learn how to eat
and focus on getting that tummy down now I know I've talked a lot about nutrition
but I do want to also stress exercise exercise is very important to
rehabilitate those muscles and strengthen that core if you are
exercising be super careful because when you naturally think to tighten your core
you think sit-ups but sit-ups are a complete nono especially when you have
that gap so I will do a future video to show you how to help strengthen your
core without wrecking it if you're putting extra pressure on your stomach
then you could be making that gap worse which is what we don't want so be very
careful when you are exercising to steer clear
of the nono exercises next is our skin on the tummy now I wanted to address
this because although skin would not make our tummy go down I think it's an
important part and aspect to that area I know for me when I had the baby when I
had both of my babies but especially my second one there is a little bit of
loose skin there and you don't feel so good with the stretch marks but I will
say this I did do a regimen that really really helps and I learn this way back
when I used to compete in fitness contests and that was to grab a pouf in
the shower and to scrub your belly it clockwise so that you can go with the
digestion and you scrub it with a body pouf you know to shower with and you can
soap it up and just scrub and you go in circles and that brings circulation to
the surface and it gets your stomach kind of stimulated I've done dry
brushing as well which is really cool same kind of idea you grab the dry brush
and you you bring it up on the right across and then down and you just work
it that way and that one actually is really really good too to stimulate now
I noticed when I was scrubbing my belly that it was discolored at first and as i
scrubbed it it just kind of renewed the skin I loved it now here's a little
secret if you have just a little bit of loose
skin if you keep your water hydration up high then that actually helps your loose
skin you will notice the next day it will be tighter I moisturize the crap
out of my stomach as well with coconut oil I love coconut oil there's so many
good uses for it but that just keeps it nice and moisturized something that I
have been trying lately that I'm documenting in a way is fashionable
acting I will do a video on here to show you guys but I always test stuff out
first before I review it and before I recommend it if I think it's crap you
guys our good a no opponent but you're also
I'm not going to promote it so just so you know that also as you're losing
weight you may find you have that loose skin on your tummy but there is kind of
a weird point to it as I was losing I was getting that loose skin but then I
went to that next level of weight loss and it tightened up so it's that weird
in-between phase and then it just tightened up so I feel like our skin is
a really important subject I know it's really tough on our heads after we have
babies for a lot of us we don't see the same body anymore and it can be hard to
adjust to but if you focus on really good aspects of your body you'll feel
better it's hard I know because it's blaringly
obvious you know staring at that mirror but it is important for you to be gentle
on yourself and do these nice things for yourself because it's pampering anyways
so take care of your skin I did have stretch marks I was fortunate to not to
go too severe but I lathered the crap out of my stomach in my pregnancy I know
some of its genetics too I'm European my dad says barely has any wrinkles and
he's 79 so she's lucky I'm getting more than what he is but I know genetics do
play a role I gained 54 pounds I am actually shocked
that I didn't have more than I did because I'm only 5 feet tall and I was a
high-value was huge and so with my family but my legs and everything else
yeah so that's it for skin just be good to yourself but I wanted to put that in
there because it doesn't really get rid of the mommy tummy but it helps you feel
a lot better and I really think that's that's important so number 5 is hiding
it in the meantime as you get down what I have done is used Spanx and for me I
find like getting into a dress that's a little bit tighter or just in my
passages feeling all around better I have a gluten allergy and if I have
anything like a trace of it my stomach looks like I'm serious
pregnant and it is the scariest thing there's no baby to show for it but I
hide it so that and I use that spank so that it doesn't poof out I do feel more
confident with it on I feel a lot better I don't like when it pooches out
especially I work so hard to get it down that there's those days that pushed out
now even when I was getting down with that diathesis I get that I was telling
you it still had days of poocho because it's not that strong so you have to
strengthen it you can also hide it with your clothing now I did mention in a
video and I will put the video up here so that you can see it is about getting
rid of your clothes because sometimes as you lose weight some of these clothes
that you loved before and you love to look up aren't going to look the same
anymore even if you were to buy that style in a smaller size it just might
not be you anymore because your body transforms and the style just doesn't
suit you so sometimes it's hard to make that shift because you think well I
always buy this style so those are my top 5 ways to get rid of that tummy it's
number one closing that gap number two focusing on the posture number three is
nutrition and exercise which could be in their own different category but I'm
putting those together because they are together hand-in-hand nutrition and
exercise number four is the skin yes it doesn't make your mummy tummy go flat
but it sure makes you feel better and number five finally is hiding that mummy
tummy which you can do in the meantime while you're working on getting that
puppy down I hope you enjoyed this video comment below and let me know what it is

tighten your core oh my god that's my cat I did a regime a regime I
don't like that word
