Youtube daily report Aug 22 2017

Yes, come in

You read my mind

== I was just going to come see you, Carla. == Oh? What's up?

Carla, I'm at a loss

I mean... I mean, doesn't she want to understand? CAN'T she understand? Because I...I--

== Who are you talking about? == Nico, of course!

I... actually wanted to...

Yes? Do...do you have an idea?

I...I...

I can't just simply let her get away with these shenanigans!

No

A certain position in society brings certain duties with it

If each of us simply did whatever he wanted, then... then we would become a piñata for the press in no time

Yes, you're right about that

She, too, must abide by certain rules

Instead she's threatening a hunger strike. Mmh... hunger strike!

Unhhuh, hunger strike...

Oh, Carla

With you at least I always know exactly what I can expect

You have never disappointed me

I really value that

I just hope she'll come to her senses at that boarding school

Carla, what was it you wanted to say anyway?

It wasn't that important

== So you've told your father? == No.

Good

That was a good decision

I couldn't

He always expects so much of me. Trusts me totally.

His world would come crumbling down

I don't understand it, though... You were supposedly trying to get out of the line of fire.

And that whole affair with Evelyn...

Oh, that's over

Yes, exactly! So why did you have to jump right into another one?

With Hanna it's different! I love the woman!!

Right... All right, I get it

So what's going on with Lars?

Do you think he'll be able to keep it to himself?

== He must be so upset. == Oh yes. That he is - very much, in fact.

But I don't think he'll tell anybody

I think I was able to get it through his head that it made no sense. And if I want it, then... Lars Schneider will do what I say.

Lars?

Lars??

Regarding Hanna, I hope you didn't...

No, I left immediately

Oh, thank God!

== Well, did you finally find a parking place? == Mhm

Hello, David. I guess I need to apologize to you.

I don't know what got into me - to accuse you of having an affair with Hanna

It's all right

Where are you going now?

Oh, I have to go see Hanna. I need to apologize to her too.

== Isabell. Is Hanna here? == Yes?

She's just downstairs fetching some wine. Can you place your order with Nicole? I have to get to Carolin. Bye.

Pardon me, I probably should have announced myself first

Maybe you'd better set those bottles down, otherwise something else might get broken

I'm sorry, Lars

Is that so? Since when?!

Lars, I would've really liked to have told you

It wasn't that important, though - 'It's just that dumb, clueless Lars!'

I...I...I can't explain it to you any better

== Do you have any clue what it's like when you love someone more than anything?! == Yes!

And that someone tramples all over you like a doormat?!?!

I didn't mean to!

== Sure! You make sounds about a future together, moving in together and true love... == Shhhh!

... and then you're secretly meeting with...

What is that, in your opinion?

Betrayal is what that is. Lies and betrayal!

Lars, I understand you

But you have to understand me too. How can I help it if I'm happy with a woman?

I know this is hard for you. But you will get over it.

And you'll also be happy again

Please. Don't destroy this for me.

Okay, Hanna. I'll keep my mouth shut.

But don't forget - YOU disappointed ME, not the other way around

How can you be so sure?

If he says it, then he means it

He was so angry! Maybe he'll change his mind again, once he thinks about it more.

No, I know him, he won't do that

Well, then I can really be glad that I didn't tell my father

I was already picturing the most horrendous things

Headlines, gossip

But now everything's going to be okay

Or don't you think so?

No, it will

I just feel so incredibly sorry for him

You know, if I could at least explain it to him somehow

But it isn't your fault

It's no one's fault

Yeah, I know

This is a seriously cool location. We could even have some bands here sometime.

Yeah, the noise ordinance I'm sure wouldn't apply

Yeah, it was just an idea

Hello, Mr. Schneider, I'm Vanessa

Hello, you can call me 'Lars'

Okay. This party isn't really your thing, is it?

Oh, it's all right. I'm just not in the greatest mood.

Stress at work?

Something personal

Do you feel like dancing?

Not really, but go right ahead

== I'll get us some champagne and we can toast to 'new acquaintances', okay? == Fine.

Any water around here?

No, I've been looking, too. But upstairs there are full cases in the corridor.

I'll bring some down

This seems to be your specialty - appearing unexpectedly and then disappearing again

== Hello == Hello

Uhm, he's the helpful doctor I was just telling you about

Oh, is that ever a coincidence!

What doctor?

== Yeah, we uh-- == Uhm, we met each other while shopping, on the street.

That's right. I was in the middle of procuring the obligatory present for Chubby.

Leonard!

Anyway, I stumbled, tried to stop the fall with my hand, and then there was that broken bottle lying there.

In the middle of the Kö. Just imagine - quite the dreadful circumstances!

Yes, and obviously in such a hurry that Cécile didn't even have the opportunity to thank you

Yeah

Always on the go. That is VERY typical of him.

Ahem

Yes, there are going to be several reasons to toast to this happy reunion

Thank you

== Thank you, Benedikt. == You're welcome.

Well

To you

To the savior

Uhm...

To you. And to your hand healing up well. I'll take another look at it later.

Sorry, I hope it was okay to be presumptuous

Yes, of course

How can you tell when an attorney is lying?

No idea

His lips are moving

== Felix, can you give me an ale? == For me a water, please.

== Unfortunately we're all out of water. == What? I thought Nico was getting some from upstairs?

No idea - but I can offer you a Coke

Okay

You think Nico is still up there?

Well, she's definitely not here

Sure is taking an awfully long time

She probably had a snack attack and is demolishing our provisions, as we speak

== Mhm == Andi! Andi!!

There's a girl lying up there motionless in your apartment

Nico!

Nico!

== She has a pulse. == What's wrong with her?

She's probably dehydrated from not drinking enough

Well hurry, call emergency!

== No. == Nico!

== Oh, Johannes, he can't... == Nico, you need a doctor!

== I don't wanna go to the hospi-- == Nico, stay down!

So. I know somebody from my community services stint.

My father has always wanted me to become a lawyer, too. Where did you go to law school?

== Lars? == Oh, sorry, what did you say?

You're still stuck on her, aren't you?

I heard that you and Hanna broke up

Not a good topic of conversation

Of course. Sorry if I overstepped my bounds.

I'll get us something else to drink. Anything special you want?

== Doesn't matter. == Okay.

Hi! Will you please make us two Sexes on the Beach?

Sorry, but the cocktails are all gone

How sad, and to think it was just beginning to actually get entertaining

Maybe it would be better if you went home now

I don't think Lars would like that at all

I'm not going to let you spoil my fun tonight, schoolboy

Does it still hurt?

No, not at all

== Okay == Thanks

Well, then I'm heading up. Good night.

== Night, Chubby! == Oh, Leo, just stop it with that!

Sweet dreams, sugarcake!

Good night, Carla

Good night

Well, I don't know if our story just now was convincing, but... thanks for playing along

Yes, I'm quite sure Father wouldn't have been particularly thrilled with your park adventure

Mm, no

But as far as having a beer together goes, I guess we'll be able to do that here now

Yes, certainly looks that way

At any rate, I'm happy that we've run into each other again

I feel the same

Even if I'm not going to tell anybody about what happened, I would be interested in knowing what you actually wanted from the boy

To return something that belonged to him

== Pretty brave. == Well...

And so mysterious

And a little bit crazy

Sorry for having left you two waiting so long

But you seem to have gotten along together marvelously without me

What's up with my little sister, doesn't she even want to meet me?

I'd love to introduce her to you, Leonard

But she isn't here

== Good morning. == Morning. == Morning.

Hello, boss!

== Well? == Nice to see you.

So, jet-lagged? Or do you still have a rough time getting up early?

Why should I get up early? I'm on vacation!

And have time to dream about your dream woman

Oh, how many would this be now? Coffee?

Sure

And there is no dream woman

Oh come on! That was the first thing you told me about on the phone yesterday.

Those were your own exact words, Leo. So... where is she?

New York? Here?

Are we going to meet her soon? Come on, I want details.

We quite simply met each other on the street

What, a knife-stabbing, 10th and Broadway? Or a car accident in Harlem?

== Ansgar! == Well, sorry, but such things are bound to happen professionally.

I am quite sure he appeals to the lady patients, our 'white doctor in shining armor'

You really have a very romantic image of my job

Yes

No, it was a very normal, everyday encounter. And not in Harlem, in case that comforts you.

Yes, immensely!

Don't make me beg

She is really... nice

'Nice'?

But not actually quite a 'dream woman', hm?

That's right. And besides, there are more exciting topics.

Yes, come in?

Count, Nicola isn't in her room. Her bed is completely untouched.

Mm, then I guess she DID use her last chance to run away

If I can help you in any way?

No, thank you, Benedikt

I am quite sure that Nico is at the Brandner's

What are you going to do now?

I'm going to call them and tell them what I think of it!

Wait!

== Hey, he'll calm down again. == I don't think so.

It's great to have you here, Leo. I've really missed you.

I missed you too

Quite a bit has happened here

And Father looks so happy

Nico is keeping him on his toes

As our newest family member she is pretty trying, if you ask me

Well, I think she's actually pretty great, judging from what I've heard

In addition to which, I found it very interesting to learn about Father's affair in such a fashion

Well now, I really didn't think it was very funny that he cheated on Mother like that

You're right about that

In any case... Cécile seems to be very good for him

That remains to be seen

Oh oh... she's still not your best friend

Bad question, next question. Besides which, it makes no difference.

She's Father's wife. I have to come to terms with that.

And you?

What about me?

Do you like her?

Typical French nobility, at first glance

Personable

And at second glance?

In any case, I'm hugely pleased for Father

I think Cécile is the perfect match for him

Hey, I thought you were happy that I'm here?!

I am

I'm worried about Father

Why?

I don't trust her

And I'm afraid that someday she'll break his heart

The Most Beautiful Island In The World?!?! - Duration: 7:17.

Look at all this leg room we have

These are great seats

We're going to Thailand now

I'm really excited

So we landed in Bangkok

And I'm not sure if you guys can see

But it is raining so much outside

We are at Amari Phuket

Phuket, Phuket

In Thailand and we're at the hotel

There's these shuttles that take you to your hotel

Just for reference, this is my hand

I asked for a fried egg and look at that

It's like perfection, right?

This view

Here we are and this is an example of

What the hotels look like here

[squeals of excitement]

Oh my gosh it's so nice I can't even

Table

Oh my gosh you guys

Look at our view!

And this is the view from the bedroom

Now we're gonna get dinner

Here's where the shuttle dropped us off

I don't know exactly where we are

But we passed Patong Beach

Which I think is like famous?

We are at dinner right now

Bondi Aussie Bar & Grill

And I ordered the ribs

They're pork ribs but um

This is what they're famous for here

Thank you!

We're just leaving the mall

And it is AWESOME

Oh my gosh you guys

Shopping in Thailand is

GREAT

You can really stretch your money

So for example

I got, like, two pairs of these

Fabric pants that I've been wanting

Back home

I saw them in Santa Monica for around

Thirty dollars

Here I got them for what?

$6.00 or $6.50 each

These are my new pants [poses]

My hair has been a mess

I left my hairbrush in China so..

HELLO are we in Thailand or Hogwarts?

Because there is a HUGE chessboard there

Ha ha ha

I made a joke

I am so funny

I'm probably the only one who's gonna find that funny

Oh well

There's a pool over here

Wow! This is gorgeous

I want to jet ski so bad

I'm SO excited

Aaahhhhh

You guys look at this the stairs lead right down to the ocean

[low pitched excitement noise]

And then there's the jet skis

WOOOOOO!

EEEE-AAAHHH-OOOO!

OOWW!

[lower pitched] AAAHHHHHH

YALL this looks like a person's driveway to their house like

I think it's a hotel but

I'm just sayin'

Woo!

High-pitched screaming]

This is our hotel

K we're at the stairs now, this is SOO cool

We forgot our shoes!

Rinse off the saaaannnddd

OO

Look how beautiful this is

Geez

Oh look at this cute little waterfall thing

Oh, never mind, is that a sewage system?

Look at these beautiful butterflies

The view is SPECTACULAR

I love Thailand

Usually I open my eyes underwater but this water is so salty like so salty

Like, SO salty

I just stepped on a sharp rock

Beautiful, right?

Ope look at that parasailor

I did that earlier

This picture they took for me

This is the city, I thought I'd give you guys a look

Those vans are shuttles for hotels

I call them: Hearse vans

Not a fan, but

You do what you gotta do to get where you need to go

Driving's kinda chaotic

It's not as crazy as China though

[car double-honks]

Lots of fake Louis Vuitton

Fake Michael Kors

Lots of fake

I bought so many seashells [laughs]

So we're at the restaurant right now

It is 10:11pm

I ordered some noodles with some chicken

A chicken noodle soup basically

So we just finished our foooood

You guys I had no idea this whole time

When I was trying to track down a cat earlier

Can y'all see it?

[dangerous meow]

Ooo, catfight! [see what I did there? I'm so punny omg]

It was another cat that came up

And that cat got mad

We're checking out of this hotel

说拜拜 (say bye)

So we just arrived at our next hotel

This is the entrance

Look at this pool. Oh my gosh

You can walk out of your room into the pool

So I just put some stuff in the safe

because I like to make use of uh

Safes in hotels

I'll go outside and show you guys

And there's the beach

Nice bed, and then this is the bathtub

And this rain shower

And yeah

We just got back from the hotel Spa

And it was so nice

I smell like a flower now

Before that we went on the jet ski

It was a little bit eerie

It's foggy outside and we couldn't really see the bottom

I like to be able to see what's in the water

Last day on this island

I get to sit here and enjoy the ocean

Here's the menu they brought me

As you can see it's a Russian menu

Everyone thinks I'm Russian here

The lights have come on outside

They put candles

So here's what McDonalds in Thailand looks like

They have things like chicken curry pie

Chicken sausage roll

Chocolate orange mousse cake (recommended)

Blueberry cheesecake (best seller)

Look at this! It's like Escalators

But without the steps

We're in Bangkok by the way, at the Bangkok airport

Isn't this a fancy looking elevator?

Heyyy

We're at our last hotel on this trip

Oh my gosh

Look at the shower!

I guess no privacy when you go to the bathroom though

Oh wait no they have curtain things that you can pull down

Can you tell how sparkly these are?

They are adorable

I love the seashell one right here

It is GORGEOUS

There are A LOT of bikers

My goodness, look at all the traffic

There are so many floors of this mall

It reminds me of Hogwarts castle

I'm OBSESSED with this dress

We're at this hotel called "Renaissance"

And look at the inside

See how it's hot pink?

The taxis here are hot pink

They're so cool

It's pretty much like city

Everywhere

We are arriving at Bangkok International Airport

South Korea

All by my lonesome

Hello LAX, I'm hommeee

[happy squealing]

It's so good to be in the United States

Secret Service Almost Out Of Money - Duration: 7:16.

THE SECRET SERVICE HAS DEPLETED ITS FUNDS NECESSARY TO PAY AT

LEAST A PORTION OF ITS AGENTS;

ONE THIRD OF ITS AGENTS HAVE ALREADY HAD THE CAP FOR HOURS

AND OVERTIME, WHICH MEANS THAT SOME OF THEM HAVE TO WORK

FOR FREE UNLESS CONGRESS DOES SOMETHING TO ALLOCATE MORE

FUNDING FOR THE SECRET SERVICE.

A LOT OF THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT LAST YEAR WAS A

TOMATOES ONE TO SAY THE LEAST, WHICH REQUIRED A GREAT DEAL OF

SECRET SERVICE TO GET INVOLVED, TO PROTECT PRESIDENTIAL

CANDIDATES, AND BE INVOLVED IN THE POLITICAL CONVENTIONS THAT

TOOK PLACE, BUT DONALD TRUMP'S AGONIST RATION IS NOT

MAKING THINGS EASY, WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE FACT THAT HE

IS CONSTANTLY TRAVELING FOR PLEASURE, AND HE ALSO HAS A

GIANT FAMILY, WHICH ALSO REQUIRES SECRET SERVICE.

NOW, AGENTS MUST PROTECT TRUMP, LESS TRAVELED ALMOST EVERY

WEEKEND WAS PROPERTIES IN FLORIDA, NEW JERSEY, AND

VIRGINIA ñ AND HIS ADULT CHILDREN WHOSE BUSINESS TIPS AND

VACATIONS HAVE TAKEN THEM OVERSEAS.

THE PART OF THIS THAT IS FRUSTRATING, TO SAY THE LEAST,

IS THAT HIS SONS, WHO ARE CURRENTLY TRAVELING TO OTHER

COUNTRIES FOR TRUMP -RELATED BUSINESS, ALSO GET SECRET

SERVICE, AND SO TAXPAYERS ARE FOOTING THE BILL FOR THAT, AND

THAT'S NOT RELATED TO WORK FOR OUR COUNTRY, OR FOR OUR

GOVERNMENT.

IT'S SOLELY BASED ON WORK THEY ARE DOING FOR THEIR OWN

BUSINESSES.

MORE THAN 1000 AGENTS HAVE ALREADY HIT THE CAT THE ñ

HAVE HIT THE FEDERAL MANDATE.

SINCE HIS INAUGURATION, TRUMP HAS TAKEN SEVEN CHIPS TO HIS

ESTATE IN MAR A LAGO, TRAVELED TO NEW JERSEY GOLF CLUB

FIVE TIMES, AND RETURN TO MANHATTAN ONCE.

I HAVE MORE DETAILS FOR YOU, BUT JUST TO GIVE YOU MORE

DETAILS ON HOW MUCH THIS COST, TAKE A LOOK AT THE VIDEO.

REPEATED VISITS TO HIS GOLF CLUB IN NEW JERSEY.

AROUND-THE-CLOCK SECURITY FOR THE FIRST LADY AND THEIR

SONS IN MANHATTAN, UNTIL RECENTLY.

TONIGHT, THERE'S MORE SCRUTINY ON THE STRAIN OF THOSE

OPERATIONS.

THEY ARE NOW WORKING OVERTIME HOURS THEY ARE NOT GETTING

PAID FOR.

ABOUT 1100 AGENCY EMPLOYEES WILL WORK OVERTIME HOURS THIS YEAR.

YEAH, AND JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, UNDER DONALD TRUMP,

42 PEOPLE HAVE PROTECTION, A NUMBER THAT INCLUDES 18

MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY.

THAT'S UP FROM 31 IN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION.

THERE'S THINGS THEY CAN DO ABOUT, THINGS THEY CAN'T.

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THERE IS 42

PEOPLE IN YOUR FAMILY.

HIS WIFE AND HIS SON STAY BEHIND IN NEW YORK UNTIL JUNE SO HE

COULD FINISH THE SCHOOL YEAR THERE.

SOME HAVE CRITICIZED THAT, BECAUSE THAT INCLUDES A WHOLE

OTHER SECURITY APPARATUS IN TRUMP IN NEW YORK, WHEREAS

YOU COULD HAVE ONE APPARATUS IN WASHINGTON.

A COULD BE ARGUED THAT IS NITPICKING.

THE ONE THING HE COULD DEFINITELY CONTROL IS HOW MUCH

HE GOES TO ñ

GOLFING?

VACATIONS, OUTINGS TO HIS OWN PLACES, WHICH HE IS MAINLY

USING FOR ADVERTISING.

SO, NOT ONLY DOES HE KEEP TALKING ABOUT HIS WINTER WHITE

HOUSE, TALKING ABOUT MAR A LAGO.

THESE ARE ALL GIANT ADS FOR HIS PROPERTIES, AND HE EVEN HAD

THE TEMERITY AFTER THE CHARLOTTESVILLE PRESS

CONFERENCE, WHICH WAS AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER, WHERE HE

BLAMED THE COUNTER PROTESTERS AS WELL, TO THEN PLUG HIS

PROPERTIES IN VIRGINIA, WHICH HE ALSO GOES TO.

THE MAN HAS NO BOUNDS OF DECENCY OR MORALITY.

AND HERE IS A GUY WHO CRITICIZED OBAMA'S VACATIONS.

IMMEDIATELY TAKING FAR MORE VACATIONS ñ EVEN THE MIDDLE OF A

17 DAY VACATION RIGHT NOW, AND UNDERTAKING SO MUCH HEAT

FOR IT THEY CHANGED IT TO ñ AND A DRIVING CRAZY WHEN THE

PRESS DUTIFULLY REPORTED AS SUCH ñ IT IS NOW A WORKING VACATION.

SURE IT IS.

THAT HE CAN HELP, BUT HE'S NOT, SO IF YOU ARE A CONSERVATIVE AND

YOU CARE ABOUT OUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS, WE ARE THROWING

THEM AWAY IN BUSHELS HERE.

BY THE WAY, CAN YOU SAY AT THE WHITE HOUSE ONE WEEKEND AND

DO YOUR JOB?

YOU ARE THE PRESIDENT, IS NOT AN EASY JOB.

YES, YOU HAVE TO BE VIGILANT 24/7 , AND HE'S NOWHERE

NEAR THAT VIGILANCE.

IT'S INTERESTING BECAUSE HE WILL BRAG ABOUT DONATING $100,000 OF

HIS SALARY TO THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, WHILE HE

SIMULTANEOUSLY PROPOSES TO CUT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM THE

DEPARTMENT?

HERE'S THE THING, HOW ABOUT YOU KEEP YOUR SALARY, AND JUST

TRAVEL LESS?

ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S TRAVEL THAT IS UNNECESSARY, AND YOU ARE

SPECIFICALLY DOING IT TO ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESSES.

THE ONE HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS TO HAVE TO PAY FOR HIS SONS TO

TRAVEL TO OTHER COUNTRIES FOR THEIR BUSINESSES?

I GET THAT IT IS A TRICKY QUESTION.

ALSO, TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED IN TERMS

OF ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING, THERE IS A PROPOSAL TO

RAISE THE COMBINED SALARY AND OVERTIME CAP FOR AGENTS,

FOR THE DURATION OF HIS FIRST TERM.

ALSO, LAST YEAR, CONGRESS DID HAVE TO APPROVE A ONE-TIME

TEXT TO ENSURE THAT 1400 AGENTS WOULD BECOME ZETA FOR THOUSANDS

OF HOURS OF OVERTIME EARNED ABOVE COMPENSATION LIMITS.

THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, AND IT IS ONLY MADE WORSE WITH ALL THE

TRAVEL INVOLVED WITH TRUMP AND HIS FAMILY.

THERE'S ALSO THE PERSONAL INVESTMENT ANGLE.

NOW, OTHER REPUBLICANS HAVE SPENT $1.3 MILLION ON TRUMP

PROPERTIES, SOMETIMES JUST TO STAY IN WASHINGTON AND DO WORK,

BUT YOU KNOW IT IS ALSO TO MAKE HIM HAPPY.

AND FINALLY, JUST TO GIVE YOU A SENSE OF HOW MUCH MONEY IS

INVOLVED HERE, THE SECRET SERVICE HAS ALREADY SPENT

$60,000 IN GOLF CARTS RENTALS ALONE THIS YEAR ON HIS

PROPERTIES.

NOW, IF YOU REALLY CARED ABOUT THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS YOU

COULD SAY, HEY YOU KNOW WHAT?

THE GOLF CARTS YOU ARE USING TO PROTECT ME WHILE I GO

NONSTOP GOLFING AT MY OWN PROPERTY, NOT TO CHARGE THE

AMERICAN GOVERNMENT FOR THAT.

BUT HE LOVES TO CHARGE THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.

EVERYONE OF HIS OUTINGS TO MAR A LAGO HAS COST AT LEAST $3

MILLION, SO TO ANA'S POINT ABOUT WHEN HE BRAGS OF NOT TAKING HIS

SALARY, WHICH I THINK IS ABOUT $40,000 OVER THE ENTIRETY OF

FOUR YEARS, YOU SPEND MORE THAN THAT EVERY TIME YOU GO TO MAR A

LAGO, AN YOU'VE BEEN THERE SEVEN TIMES ALREADY, SO PLEASE SPARE

ME THE BRAGGING.

YOUR SPENDING OUR MONEY AND RUNNING THE SECRET SERVICE

INTO THE GROUND.

a melancholy adventure | Split, Croatia 2012 - Duration: 2:57.

Five years ago I started the month of August in Croatia.

With my time abroad coming to an end, I took a solo trip to Split.

A final farewell to the adventuring expat chapter of my life.

My lease on my final apartment in Paris expired a week before my long pre-booked return to the US.

Seeing this as my last chance to travel Europe on the cheap, I looked at a map with an eye towards beaches for nursing those separation wounds.

Years earlier, my younger brother and I wound up unhappily skipping Croatia on our backpacking trip,

and Google told me that Split was a good place for beaches in Croatia, and so off I went.

This particular trip was strange, meditative, and also unexpectedly melancholy.

A disclaimer: while I am a strong proponent of solo trips, Split struck me as a place better enjoyed with friends.

Still, I wandered the old city and mourned a transition I wasn't prepared to make.

I filmed statues and the sea.

So much of the sea, because in Paris I'd had the Seine and in Split I had the sea.

And in a few short days I would return to landlocked flyover country, USA.

I made a point of appreciating the sea.

The trip was, in some ways, a sibling to a week I spent in London in 2008, between my college study abroad and my brother joining me for our backpacking adventure.

Both trips were spent walking the streets of an unfamiliar place, in a way that was a little bit more meditative than sight-seeing.

On the one hand, I was struck by how much I wished my friends – my friends who were also much of what I would be leaving behind – were with me.

It seemed a questionable choice to spend this final week without them.

On the other, though, it was good to remind myself of my own independence.

My own ability to go and do and see and be and, critically, make my own meaning – define my own experiences.

This is something travel has given me time and again, over the years.

On a whim, I went rafting.

I left my camera at the hostel that day, so here's some more of the sea.

Because I was by myself, I was grouped in with this French family.

And there was something weirdly poignant about the fact that even on my Croatian getaway I was confronted with my fraught relationship with the French language.

A reminder that my year in Paris was beautiful and rewarding but not without its challenges.

But this rafting trip was weird and wonderful and, along with our Croatian guide, we sang a trilingual rendition of In The Jungle,

and I got to be a bizarre, inexplicable presence in someone else's family photo.

I went on that trip as my LAST HURRAH, but I've been thinking of it a lot lately, and not just because TimeHop is reminding me of it,

but also because I've been relatively still for a while now.

I've been finding smaller lessons in agency and exploration to be learned in that stillness.

But I'm starting to think that somewhere along the way I let myself believe the lie that this was somehow it – the end of my traveling days.

Never mind the simple fact that I was in Croatia again just two years later.

The more important truth is that I always have the option to go.

It just turns out that staying is also a choice.

Lee Je Hoon Was Taken Aback By How Good-Looking His Younger Counterpart Was

On August 21, the upcoming film I Can Speak held a production briefing session. Director Kim Hyun Suk was in attendance, along with actors , , , Uhm Hye Ran, Sung Yoo Bin, Lee Sang Hee, Jung Yeon Joo, and .

In the film, Lee Je Hoon reunites with Sung Yoo Bin, who played the younger version of his character in the 2012 film My Paparotti.  In I Can Speak, the two actors play brothers. Soompi. Display. News. English. 300x250. Mobile. English. 300x250. ATF.

I was surprised and fascinated to hear that Sung Yoo Bin would be appearing in this movie, Lee Je Hoon said.

[Meeting him again], I thought, How can he be so good-looking? He was my younger counterpart but he was too good-looking and it took me by surprise..

He added, I think he will become a great actor in the Korean film industry. His visuals are the best but hes really good at acting too..

Sung Yoo Bin said, Lee Je Hoon spoke kindly to me and told me to treat me comfortably like an older brother. It was always fun to come to set..

I Can Speak is a warm-hearted comedy about a principled civil servant (Lee Je Hoon) and an old woman who regularly files thousands of civil complaints (Na Moon Hee) whose paths cross after he begins teaching her English.

It is scheduled for release around the Chuseok holiday.

Books Read in 2017 [17-22] [CC] - Duration: 10:33.

I didn't originally plan on filming another one of these videos right

after my last one but I'm on a roll so I'm just going to go with it. So welcome

to the same hair and makeup and style? Style? Clothes. Hair is pretty much the

same always. I don't know what's happening now. Okay. First I read The

Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. I actually started this back in

think last November, October, from the library.

But I had to return it before I could finish it. But what I had read I really

loved so I decided to buy myself a physical copy which was absolutely the best

choice I could have made, because this book is beautiful. Everything about it.

The writing, the story, the cover. It's amazing. It is about a girl named Maya who

has this horoscope that she was pretty much born with, that says her marriage will

lead to death and destruction. So she's always assumed she's not going to

ever get married and that she will just be really scholarly and read a bunch of

stuff and do a lot of research but she loves. Then her father the Raja

puts her into a marriage. And then she kind of gets whisked away by this guy to

this other world, that's kind of in between worlds. I'm really great at summaries.

And he has a lot of secrets, lots of locked doors, and weird noises coming

from places. This is kind of a retelling of Hades and Persephone along with

some Indian mythology. I love it. The writing is absolutely beautiful.

Very flowery so if you don't like flowery writing this might not be the book

for you. But I think you should pick it up and try it. So great. It's just so

beautiful. I particularly like the second half of the book. There was this

character named Kamala who is my absolute favorite of everything ever. I

want my own Kamala, which once you get to Kamala

you'll be like Ashley what the hell is wrong with you, but I want my own Kamala.

I love Maya. I loved the romance. I mean it wasn't insta-lovey. It was a little fast

though for my taste but that's okay I didn't even care. Which is always a good

sign for me when I don't care that it's too fast or insta-lovey in my opinion. It

made me so happy. It made me so happy. I really need to pick up the sequel that

just came out, which is actually a companion novel.

Just get it. Just buy it. This is not the best review of this book

but just get it okay. Next is the Midnight Dress by Karen Foxlee.

This is an Australian author so I believe this whole story took place in Australia.

It's about this girl named Rose, who has moved around with her father all

the time. Never really stayed in one place very long and then they move to

this one town and she meets Pearl. She's never met anybody like Pearl, and that's

pretty much the reason I really wanted to read this book. Because most things are

about a girl who moves and then she meets a guy or the new guy comes to

school and blah blah blah. But this was girl moves and meets a girl

that she's never like met anybody like before. I was like is this going to be

lesbians? Is this gonna be queer girls because that's what I want. I'm still not

sure if it was or not. Like at one point one of the girls did say I love you but

I wasn't- I- I think she meant it in a romantic way but

she could have meant in the friend way and if somebody like wanted to argue with

me that she just meant friend way, I'd be like I can't blame

you for that interpretation because this was not very clear on it. And this is

also kind of a mystery. I just totally skipped that part of the plot. Anyways

there's this dance coming up and who is our main character? Rose. Gets this dress,

blue dress, made by this lady who's kind of rumored to be a witch and then a girl

goes missing on the night of the dance. um so I did actually like this in the

beginning, like the first maybe even half of it I was really interested in

it. Each chapter starts with like a paragraph or two from like the present time

after the girl has gone missing at the dance. And it's kind of from the

detectives point of view, and the way it was told was kind of fairytale-esque

sort of. And I really liked that and I was interested in what was going on with

you know Rose and this woman who's apparently a witch, and what was going to

happen with Rose and Pearl. It was interesting. And then I just-it dragged on so much

and then like there was a plot twist but I wasn't even surprised at that point

anymore because I felt like it had dragged on and it's not even a long book. It's a little

less than 300 pages. But I just felt like it had dragged on so much. And then

hmm. I started to not like the detective parts which were the most interesting

parts for a long time. And I think there was a racial slur against-used against

somebody who was indigenous to Australia, because at one point they got somebody

to help track down the missing girl and- it started to feel like a magical

person of color trope already so I was already like meh.

And then he said a word that I then looked up to see if it was a racial slur, the

detective said a word, and the way he like said it was like, is that a racial slur?

And I couldn't find anything on it but it's just

mm-hmm. Yeah, but also like I said it got

really boring after a certain point and I was annoyed because I wasn't even sure

if the girls were in love romantically or just in love friendship wise and

I wish that had been made more clear. Because if they were just gonna be

friends, fine they were just friends, so make that clear in your book because I

don't want any of this half-assed nonsense with queer rep. Just if you're

going to have queer rep make it so we know so I can actually be like, yeah this

was representation of queer girls. Was it? I don't know. Then I read volume four and

five of Ms Marvel. Volume four is Last Days and volume 5 is Super Famous. I love

these so much. I love Kamala. She is just one of my favorite characters

of all times. I think she is amazing and just like so relatable. Just like she's

definitely like from our time, the tumblr era. Is that what we're going to call

ourselves? It's what I'm calling ourselves right now. Just super super relatable. So

funny. The only times I tend to not like this, it's not even I don't like the story,

it's just because they have different artists doing different parts and

there's one artist, and I am pretty sure there was a part in one of these volumes.

But they had that artist and they almost. I don't like their art style, especially

for Kamala. It's like they're trying really hard to make her like

stereotypically pretty. Like mainstream pretty. Oh yeah this one, whoever this

artist did this one. So like what I've always really liked about Kamala is she

always pulls these really weird faces that are just great. And I'm

sure faces I make all the time, and then we get this artist, whoever this artist

is. I don't even know. Where she seems- like this artist always seems to draw her

like she's wearing makeup, which there's nothing wrong with wearing makeup. Like I-

obviously. But I don't know like it just doesn't look like Kamala to me. And she

just always look super put together. And like I think Kamala is a very pretty

person. I just I don't like the way this artist does it.

I don't know. It's just weird to me. Like who is this? I gonna even see if I can

find this artist. I'm not going to be able to. Okay, I don't know which artist

this. Anyways, and then there is the time gap in between the two volumes. In between

this volume and in between this one. And that was a little frustrating to me

because although you don't need to know all that happened in between these two

volumes so this one makes sense, I like to know what happened. And I know that

you can find out what happened because there was like some stuff went down but

you have to read other storylines from other characters in the Marvel Universe, and

I am not interested in doing that. Also I even tried to look it up because I was like

maybe I'll do that, but it was confusing and there's like too many different ones

I'd have to follow to get all the in-between stuff. So that's frustrating

to me But besides that I love these. They're great, so much fun. If you haven't

read them go do it. You know what I'm only going to talk about five books in

this video because I can't find the sixth book. I think I lent it to a friend so

I'll talk about that next time. Anyways my fifth book is We Are Okay by Nina

LaCour. This is about a girl named Marin and she had a tragedy that happened and so

she kind of just ran away to college. She just left early to go to college and then

didn't stay in contact with anybody back from her home. Just like completely cut

off contact and now she is there over the winter or Christmas break and she's

the only one on campus and her best friend............

Where the hell is her best friend's name?Mabel! Her best friend Mabel is coming to stay

with her for a few days during winter break and she know she's going to have

to like look back on the stuff that happened back home and kind of confront

it cuz she know Mabel is going to make her. This is a very short book but it

packs a lot into it. This is a story about grief. I definitely cried a couple

times reading this, although the times I cried were more out of like happiness

and just like an overwhelming amount of emotions over-then sad times. But

still. I got really really really emotional during this. I think a lot of

it is because this is also very much about Marin and her relationship with her

grandfather who raised her, and I was very very close to my grandfather who's

passed away now, and so anything that has to do with a granddaughter/

grandfather relationship just makes me really emotional always. Also there is um,

Marin and Mabel did have romantic feelings for each other so it's them

working through that. And I really really liked that storyline and how that was

dealt with. Whoo yeah, this was a lot but really really beautiful. It's just also a

beautiful book on the inside. I love these end pages and I just-this cover

I think perfectly captures the feeling of everything. I think this was also- like I

live in Alaska it's snowy, I read this back in March, like right now it's sunny

because we're kind of getting to spring, but I read it in March when it was still

of the darker times, colder times. So that was a really great

time to read this. Although I think next time I want to reread this in like December

when it's pitch-black 24/7. So yeah. I highly recommend this if you're looking

for a book that deals with grief and also does feature an F/F relationship.

Have some tissues on hand. Those are all the books I'm gonna talk about today. Let

me know if you've read any of them. What you thought about them. I'll see you guys next

time. Bye.

Travel Professor - Dark Tourism in Cambodia - The Killing Fields - Duration: 4:33.

The killing fields, located about 17 kilometers south of Phnom Penh in

Cambodia, is where I am now. One of the most infamous dark tourism places is here, the

Killing Fields just south of Phnom Penh. They came from s21 and were delivered

here mostly trucks by night. The truck stop is essentially, was essentially

that board behind me. At first, two or three trucks a week maybe, a day sorry, 50

to 70 people executed. In the end, over 300 were coming here and put into mass

graves so many so that they had to be kept overnight. The building would have

been here where they were kept overnight. Altogether they estimate a

population killed about three million out of 8 million in the whole population.

And the actual killing fields were over here as you will see behind me where

they found in one particular mass grave 120 skeletons.

Underneath is shed is the mass grave of 450 people found murdered inside. Pushed. Because bullets were expensive so

they used anything that they could get their hands on. A lot of farming

equipment were used as the instruments of death.

Mass graves containing almost 9,000 bodies were discovered here.

This former orchard also contains fragments of human bone you can see here

as well as rags and cloths which would have been part of their clothes and in

the bottom left there that's teeth that will remain from the skulls.

In Philip Stone's dark tourism spectrum, it's one of the darkest forms of tourism because

it's the site of deaths and suffering.

Other types of attractions in this category would be the concentration

camps of World War II like Auschwitz in Poland and Dachau in Germany.

In 1988 a memorial stupa was built on the grounds.

I'm inside the stupa and you can see the skulls that were found in the killing fields

and the scientists have identified how they were killed so if they had a big hole in their skull

from a blunt instrument and they can estimate how old they were as well. Many, many skulls.

17 floors. A chilling reminder how people can be horrible, not just horrible, there's no word for it, to each other.

In fact there were over 8,000 skulls in this stupa.

One thing that's quite difficult for tourist attractions like this is to get the right balance.

It's a, it's a real place. It's a place of of great sadness and to not try to

trivialize the issue but to remember, to pay tribute to the people that passed

away here. To try to make it a an attraction that reminds people, never to

go there again it's quite difficult to do and I think here the Killing Fields

have actually done this very well. The audiotape was good, gave you the

historical background from different perspectives and it was a nice

leisurely flow. A good mix of information

presented as you went around.

Second Navy Destroyer Collides At Sea - Duration: 8:44.

A U.S. WARSHIP

HAS BEEN INVOLVED

IN A CRASH IN -

VIDEO BUFFERING -

LIFE-THREATENING.

NOW, WE HAVE A QUICK REPORT ON THIS INCIDENT, WHICH WILL

SHOW YOU THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE, WILL COME RIGHT

BACK AND GIVE YOU THE DETAILS.

A GAPING WOUND ON THE PORT SIDE OF THE USS JOHN MCCAIN, AFTER

COLLIDING WITH AN OIL TANKER IN ONE OF THE WORLD'S BUSIEST

SHIPPING ROUTES.

10 SAILORS ARE MISSING, AND FIVE CREW ARE INJURED, AND A

CERTAIN RESCUE OPERATION IS UNDERWAY.

IS REPORTED THAT THE CREW TRIED TO STEM FLOODING IN SEVERAL

PLACES, WHILE THE VESSEL HEADED TOWARD SINGAPORE.

I JUST WANT TO SAY TWO QUICK THINGS THERE: WHENEVER WE SHOW A

VIDEO LIKE THAT, CHECK THE DISCUSSION BOX, BECAUSE IT WILL

HAVE THE FULL REPORT.

IF WE ARE SHOWING YOU A VIDEO BY SOMEONE, THEY'VE DONE A

GOOD JOB AND WE WANT TO SEE THE FULL REPORT.

THE SECOND THING, YOU MENTIONED CONSPIRACY THEORIES, AND I

WANTED TO SCREW WITH YOU A BIT, I THINK THERE IS EVIDENCE.

WHAT IS THE EVIDENCE?

I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING, BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ.

I DON'T MEAN THERE IS A SMOKING GUN ON A MEMO FROM THE PENTAGON

SAYING THAT THEY HAVE HIJACKED OUR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS, BUT

I THINK THERE IS CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE.

LET'S CONTINUE THE STORY AND I WILL EXPLAIN WHAT I THINK

THAT EVIDENCE IS.

JUST TO GIVE YOU

SOME MORE DETAILS -

VIDEO BUFFERING -

FLOODING IN BIRTHING COMPARTMENTS, AS WELL AS

MACHINERY AND COMMUNITY ROOMS.

THERE WILL BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ACCIDENT, AND

SEVERAL OTHERS THAT OCCURRED OVER THE LAST YEAR.

JAMES MATTIS WOULD LIKE THIS INVESTIGATION TOOK PLACE TO

LOOK INTO WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING.

JUST TO GIVE YOU AN OUTLINE OF THE OTHER NAVY WARSHIPS THAT

HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL CRASHES, 1917 THE USS FITZGERALD

-

ON MAY 9, THE GUIDED MISSILE CRUISER USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN

WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL FISHING BOAT OFF THE KOREAN PENINSULA.

IN LATE JANUARY, THE GUIDED MISSILE USS ANTIETAM

RAN AGROUND.

SO, THESE COLLISIONS KEEP HAPPENING, AND IT'S JUST STRANGE

BECAUSE THIS ISN'T TYPICAL, SOME I CAN SEE WHAT YOU MEAN BY SOME

CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE, BUT AGAIN, THERE'S NO SMOKING GUN AT

ALL, I WANT TO BE CLEAR ABOUT THAT.

FIRST OFF, A QUICK THING ON THE GENRE GAIN.

BOTH HIS DAD AND HIS GRANDFATHER WERE LEGENDARY ADMIRALS IN THE

NAVY, AND PART OF THE REASON WHY HE WAS ABLE TO GET INTO THE

MILITARY.

HE WAS A CAPTAIN HIMSELF, JOHN MCCAIN WAS, BUT HE CRASHED FOUR

DIFFERENT TIMES.

TRUMP, BY THE WAY, IN REACTION TO THIS STORY SAID THAT HE

PREFERS SHIP THAT DON'T CRASH.

HE DIDN'T SAY THAT, BUT HE SAID, OH THAT'S TOO BAD.

HE SAID THAT'S TOO BAD IN REGARD TO THE 10 MISSING SAILORS, THAT

APPEARED TO BE A LITTLE BIT OF AN INADEQUATE RESPONSE.

LATERS.

SOME OFFICIAL TWEETED OUT, OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE

WITH THE SAILORS, ETC.

NOW, ONTO THE MAIN EVENT.

IF MONK HAS EVER TAUGHT ME ANYTHING, IT'S THAT THERE

ARE NO COINCIDENCES.

SO, FOUR SHIPS IN ONE YEAR, THAT IS WAY TOO HIGH A NUMBER.

IF IT WAS JUST, A KOREAN SHIPPING BOAT MANAGED TO RUN

INTO A GIANT SHIP, YET THAT KNUCKLEHEAD ON THE FISHING

BOAT MADE A MISTAKE.

IF THERE IS ONE ACCIDENT, AND THEN THAT, THAT'S STILL NOTHING,

BUT FOUR ACCIDENTS IN ONE YEAR.

THERE IS ANOTHER THEORY, AND THAT IS THAT DONALD TRUMP IS IN

CHARGE AND INCOMPETENCE MOVES FROM THE HEAD DOWN.

BUT I THINK THAT'S VERY UNLIKELY.

HE DOESN'T GET CREDIT FOR THE ECONOMY ASKED AS HE WALKS

IN, HE ALSO DOESN'T GET BLAMED FOR ALL THE THINGS THAT GO

ñ THAT HAPPEN AS SOON AS HE COMES IN.

NOW, ONTO THE THEORY ABOUT WHY I THINK THERE ARE ISSUES HERE.

THE U.S. MILITARY IN SOUTH KOREA BEGAN A 10

DAY MILITARY EXERCISE ON MONDAY.

THE SECOND COINCIDENCE IS THAT THIS CRASH HAPPENED ON MONDAY.

AND ALL FOUR OF THE CRASHES WERE IN ASIAN WATERS, SO WE ARE ABOUT

TO DO EXERCISE WITH SOUTH KOREA, ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE OF OUR SHIPS

CAN CONTROL ITSELF, AND RUNS INTO A GIANT OIL TANKER.

WHAT THINKERS ARE ENORMOUS.

HERE IS WHAT ONE ñ

REALLY QUICK, I WANT TO GIVE OUR AUDIENCE ANOTHER DETAIL.

THEY APPARENTLY LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER, MOMENTARILY.

IT WAS A TEMPORARY THING, THEN THEY WERE ABLE TO STEER

AGAIN BUT IT WAS TOO LATE.

THAT'S EXACTLY MY POINT.

A U.S.

NAVY OFFICIAL TOLD CNN THAT THE MCCAIN HAD EXPERIENCED A

LOSS OF STEERING BEFORE THE COLLISION.

YEAH, SO IF SOMEONE IS HACKING INTO OUR SYSTEMS THAT IS

EXACTLY WHAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED, AND THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE THE

ACCIDENT.

SO, IT'S NOT A CONSPIRACY THEORY IF YOU HAVE GOOD CIRCUMSTANTIAL

EVIDENCE THAT COLLISIONS ARE HAPPENING BECAUSE YOU LOST

CONTROL OF THE ABILITY TO STEER THE SHIP.

NOW, IT MIGHT TURN OUT THAT IT'S JUST A TECHNICAL FAILURE,

THERE'S A THOUSAND THINGS A GOOD TURN OUT TO BE.

THAT'S WHY ANA SAYS THERE IS NO SMOKING GUN, BUT FOR THEM TO

HAVE THE INABILITY TO STEER RIGHT BEFORE THEY RAN INTO THE

OTHER SHIP, AND OTHER WILD COINCIDENCE ñ ANOTHER WILD

COINCIDENCE, IN A SERIES OF DEMAND A SEQUENCE OF TREMENDOUS

COINCIDENCES.

I'M GOING TO QUOTE ANOTHER PERSON HERE WHO SAYS, "HOW DOES

THE NAVAL DESTROYER, EQUIPPED WITH RADAR DEVICES, AND A

FULL BRIDGE WATCH, NOT DETECT AND EVADE A 30,000

TON, SLOW-MOVING BEHEMOTH?"

WHEN YOU PUT ALL THAT TOGETHER, SOMETHING IS AMISS HERE.

I DON'T KNOW WHO ñ I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, AND WHO DID IT, OR

IF IT IS A TECHNICAL FAILURE ON OUR PART, OR IF THERE IS AN

ADVERSARY HERE INTERFERING WITH OUR ABILITY TO STEER THE SHIPS

AT IMPORTANT MOMENTS, BUT IF THERE IS A CHANCE IT IS THE

LATTER, OH BOY, THAT INTERNAL REVIEW THEY JUST ORDERED IS

NECESSARY AND HIGH-PRIORITY.

IF IT TURNS OUT IT IS A FOREIGN POWER WHO DID THIS, AND IN THE

LAST ACCIDENT WE LOST SEVEN PEOPLE ñ SEVEN OF OUR SAILORS

DIED ñ NOW WE HAVE ANOTHER 10 MISSING.

IF THAT IS AN ATTACK ON THE UNITED STATES, AND WE HAVE

LOST SOME OF OUR SERVICE PEOPLE TO THOSE ATTACKS, THAT IS

AS SERIOUS AS A HEART ATTACK, SO AFRAID WHAT THEY MIGHT FIND

OUT IN THIS INVESTIGATION, BECAUSE THEN WE MIGHT HAVE

TO TAKE ACTION, AND THAT IS NOT GOOD NEWS FOR THE WHOLE WORLD.

Week 1 - Duration: 1:03.

Welcome students to BA153, small business management. I'm going to be a

professor over this term. My name is Professor Derek Dokter and I welcome

you. I hope you feel free to contact me at any time. I'm always here to help you

so you can grow and develop. This week we'll be going over chapter 1. It's

going to be about a cerritos college graduate a few years ago, who has been

very successful and you can see and kind of meet him. This kind of gives us a

baseline start of where your future can be. Also I would like you to do to check

in and answer the questions. I want to learn a little bit about who you are. I want

you also to go over the syllabus and make sure you understand everything

that's listed within it. As well as, your chapter one test.

Any questions ddokter@cerritos.edu
