Youtube daily report w Aug 23 2017

Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch is a multiplayer mod for Doom developed by CutmanMike that

brings, in the best possible way, the elements from the 8-bit Mega Man to the first person shooting

game from id Software. The mod was created for deathmatches and aimed to bring all the

elements (textures, introduction, sounds, sprites, weapons, items, characters, etc.) of the original

games to the Doom's 3D perspective of Doom, as much as it was possible. I would say it had enough

success in this, making the Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch very fun and enjoyable to play, everything

in the nostalgic feeling that the mod brings. There is also Dr. Light's Laboratory, where Mega Man

talks with NPCs, changes skin, chooses maps etc. Note that laboratory's outdoors changes

each time you start a game, simulating a season change. This mod

received one of the 17th Annual Cacowards, in 2010, in the "Best Multiplayer" category.

the laboratory is very extensive and has two floors, but it seems hat many stuff is only for decoration.

There's even a big screen there that looks like it's serving as a monitor to a PC running MS-DOS.

If I understand it correctly, the single player mode consists of several maps where you face bots in

deathmatches, including boss arenas, something like Quake III's single player.

The WAD has more than 80 maps, all Mega Man Master Robots 1 to 9 playable, capture the flag

levels and more than 80 weapons, plus several other cool things that aren't shown here.

I found this total conversion a delight to play, man. I'll probably make more videos of it.

The Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch is ready to run with its own launcher that

loads Zandronum directly, allows you to choose online or offline matches, making game

settings and save these. The mod is also stand-alone. It doesn't need to be loaded with any IWADs.

You Can't Prove That God Doesn't Exist - Debunked - Duration: 9:53.

It's often said by skeptics and scientists that 'You can't prove a negative' or

that 'It's impossible to prove that god doesn't exist'.

Hell, I even used to say this, but it's simply not true… you can prove a negative,

and you can prove that god doesn't exist (depending on the definition of god)...

This, is You Can't Prove That God Doesn't Exist – Debunked.

So first and foremost, a humungous and sincere thank you is in order.

When I released my last video, titled 'A Likely Goodbye for Now', I of course knew

that some of you would support me, but I in no way expected so many...

I just want to say thank you!

You've changed my life, and now hopefully together we can change the lives of millions

more.

Honestly, I simply cannot express how grateful I am!

But I can demonstrate it, by working my butt off!

Anyhow, to get to the topic at hand, it's widely believed that one can't prove a negative

- that one can't, to name but a few examples, prove that Santa, Unicorns, God, or Russell's

Celestial Teapot doesn't exist, but this isn't necessarily true...

Take Russell's Teapot for example; if Russell was to assert that between Earth and Mars

there is a microscopic teapot orbiting the sun, then, in this case, it might well be

impossible (or as good as impossible) to prove the negative.

But if Russell was to also assert that the teapot is both entirely made of china and

entirely made of steel, then we can prove the negative because this concept violates

the Law of Noncontradiction, which states that contradictory statements cannot both

be true in the same sense at the same time.

Nothing can be made entirely of china and simultaneously entirely of steel – this

isn't possible – and hence, by proving the negative, we can prove the non-existence

of such a teapot.

Now some will object to this by saying that we don't know, with absolute certainty,

that nothing can violate the Law of Noncontradiction, but I would reply by saying that, with the

exception of our own existence, we know absolutely nothing with absolutely certainty, and so

to demand that we have absolute certainty when proving a negative, but not absolute

certainty when proving a positive, is unjustifiably inconsistent – and so, this objection doesn't

stand.

Now before I tie this to the various concepts of the Abrahamic god, I just want to point

out two things – the first is that the reason why people say 'You can't prove a negative',

is actually to convey that the Burden of Proof is on the those who make an assertion, and

that those who dispute the assertion don't have a Burden of Disproof.

And of course, this is true – and this is the very purpose of Russell's Teapot – it

illustrates the nature of the Burden of Proof – it doesn't illustrate that you can't

prove a negative.

And the second thing I want to point out is that many negatives are actually extremely

easy to prove, both colloquially and scientifically.

For example, if I were to say that 'You can't prove that this cup isn't full of

tea', and you had access to the cup and clear understanding of all definitions, then

of course you can prove the negative – it's not full tea… but it should be :( What's

more, and to really knock this out the park, scientific papers prove negatives all the

time!

For example, the assertion that 'cell phones cause cancer' has been overwhelmingly proven

false – or in other words, the negative assertion that 'You can't prove that cell

phones don't cause cancer' has been proven!

Now again, such proof isn't absolute, but neither is any proof, positive or negative.

Anyhow, with this all said, let's move on to the non-existent entity that is the Abrahamic

god.

Over the thousands of years since its inception, there have been countless definitions asserted

for this entity.

Some of which insisting that it's a white man who physically manifests above the clouds,

and others that it's three entities rather than one, who all care deeply about who you

sleep with and in what position.

But the most popular definitions, at least today, are one, 'A transcendent and eternal

being who created absolutely everything' (which is actually a definition of the deistic

god, not the Abrahamic god), and two, 'A transcendent and eternal being who created

absolutely everything, who's omnipotent (meaning that it has unlimited power), omniscient

(meaning that it has unlimited knowledge) omnipresent (meaning that it's everywhere

at all times) and omnibenevolent (meaning that it's all-loving and infinitely good)'.

Oh, and it's worth noting that many theists additionally define this being to be just,

merciful, and responsible for imbuing mankind with 'freewill'.

Now admittedly, the first definition can't be proven false, because, like the existence

of an intangible, invisible, and undetectable celestial teapot, one would need unavailable

and perhaps even impossible resources and knowledge to do so.

But the second definition can be proven false – and we can do so by demonstrating that

one or more of its attributes are internally contradictory; that one or more of its attributes

contradict a law of thought; or that two or more of its attributes contradict one another.

And so, let's name but just a few of these contradictions, starting with omnipotence.

As observed by the twelfth century polymath Averroes, one can prove that the very concept

of omnipotence is self-contradictory by asking the simple question "Can an omnipotent being

create a stone so heavy that it cannot lift it?"

If the answer is yes, then the being's power is limited because it cannot lift the stone;

but if the answer is no, then the being's power is limited because it cannot create

the stone; and hence, an omnipotent being cannot exist.

Now it's worth noting that while this crushes the most popular definition of omnipotence,

it doesn't crush all definitions… but that's a rabbit hole that we'll dive down

at a further date.

Moving on, let's now look at just some of the attributes that contradict one-another.

First off, if a being is omnipotent then it's necessarily already omniscient and omnipresent,

because it must already know everything and be everywhere in order to have 'unlimited

power'.

And so saying 'god is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent' is like saying 'the sea

contains water, hydrogen and oxygen'… considering that hydrogen and oxygen are constituents

of water, one might as well just say 'the sea contains water'.

Now sure, this isn't so much of a game-ending flaw, but it certainly demonstrates that theists

tend not to understand the nature of these concepts.

A contradiction that is a game-ending flaw, however, is the combination of omniscience

and human free will, because if a being has unlimited knowledge (omniscience) then it

knows all things, including the future, but if the future is known, then free will (the

ability to consciously do otherwise) isn't possible.

And finally, let's look at two omni-attributes that are incompatible with reality – that

being omnipotence and omnibenevolence.

If a being existed with these attributes, then it would necessarily create the best

possible universe, because it has unlimited power (omnipotence) and it's infinitely

good (omnibenevolence), but one can easily think of a universe that's better than this

one – for example, one in which innocent babies aren't born with cancer!

Or to put it another way, and to expand upon a quote from the ancient Greek philosopher

Epicurus: Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able?

Then he is not omnipotent.'

Now there's no two ways around this: if a being exists that is willing to prevent

evil (that is, omnibenevolent) but is not able (that is, does not have the power to

do so), then this being is not omnipotent.

Epicurus continues, 'Is he able but not willing?

Then he is malevolent.'

Again, this sentence is logically valid.

If a being exists that is able to prevent innocent babies from being born with leukaemia,

but is not willing, then this being is a malevolent colossus prick!

Is he both able and willing?

Then whence cometh evil?

And again, this sentence is logically valid, and I personally think it's the nail in

the coffin for most theists.

If a being exists that is able and willing to prevent evil, then it logically follows

that evil cannot exist… but evil does exist, and therefore this being does not exist, despite

the countless backflips apologists do in the attempt to rebut this.

And Epicurus concludes with: Is he neither able nor willing?

Then why call him god?

So, to recap: Even though the Burden of Proof is on the one who makes an assertion, in many

cases you can prove the negative (even though you don't have the burden to do so), and,

depending on the attributes assigned to the Abrahamic god, you can prove that god doesn't

exist.

Anyhow, as always, thank you kindly for the view, and an extra special thank you to my

patrons, old and new – you really came through for me on this one, and I can't thank you

all enough.

Thank you.

And I'll leave you with just one more version of the Abrahamic god whose non-existence can

be proven – that being one that's 'just' and 'merciful'.

I'm sorry theists, but this isn't possible, because mercy is by definition the suspension

of justice.

Lake Reading Vlog - Duration: 4:39.

Hey everyone, it's Holmes from HolmesStoryBooks and I'm here to share a reading vlog with

you.

My wife and I went out to the family lake house for over a week and there was no wifi,

so all I could do was read, and it was glorious.

Here are the results.

The first read I finished was Man by Kim Thuy.

Thuy is a Vietnamese-Canadian writer who writes in French.

This is about a woman named Man who moves from Vietnam to Montreal and becomes a chef.

She discovers herself and her past and falls in love with someone who is not her husband

— but this book is so much more nuanced than that.

This book is about food and the power food has over us.

It's about history, nostalgia, sentimentality and a passion for life.

Thuy's writing is delicate like lotus blossom tea, but powerful, like the lotus itself,

growing in the swamp.

It demonstrates to me that you don't always have to write linear plots, you can instead

write beautiful, meaningful pieces and string them together like paper planes.

4 poignant stars.

After that, I wanted to read some comics, so I chose Black Widow, volume 2, A Tightly

Tangled Web by Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto, Pasty Walker: AKA Hellcat: Hooked on a Feline

by Kate Leth and Brittney Williams and All New Hawkeye by Jeff Lemire and Ramon Perez,

and Papergirls vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang.

Papergirls.

This is about a gang of young girls from the 80's and time travel and aliens and how

their lives start to unravel.

Man.

I just keep feeling let down by this series.

I love Vaughan's writing but this just feels muddy and the timelines get messy.

I spent too much time trying to figure out what was going on and so I couldn't focus

on the characters.

I gave it three stars but I'm actually not sure if I want to continue on with the series.

The artwork is beautiful and reminds me of Leth's first volume of Patsy Walker: AKA

Hellcat with its gorgeous pastels, but I don't know if the artwork is enough to keep me invested.

I did not expect to love Patsy Walker: AKA Hellcat as much as I did.

In this volume, Patsy opens up a temp agency for millenial mutants or people with special

abilities so they can find a job.

Many employers consider mutants to be a lawsuit waiting to happen and Patsy is planning to

close that gap.

This volume is super cute, feminist and had more substance than I thought it would.

The artwork is beautiful and full of really saturated pinks, blues and purples.

It's also very LGBTIQA friendly and I feel Leth's touch on every page.

I loved the second Black Widow volume, it was everything that I wanted the first to

be.

The art was still stunning and features a lot of characters from Natasha's life with

S.H.I.E.L.D and other work so if you like the Avengers comics, I think you'll really

like this one.

I loved this comic because it had the emotional and character depth that I was really looking

for.

Natasha is someone who doesn't let many people in, she has a difficult past and so

as I writer, I can only imagine it would be difficult to convey that secrecy but I think

they succeeded in this volume.

I loved All New Hawkeye by Jeff Lemire and Ramon Perez, it is the backstory of how Clint

Barton became Hawkeye.

I'm really happy Lemire wrote this volume because he's a very emotionally-charged

writer and this volume needed that in order to feel authentic.

I love Perez's art, it's vivid and the watercolour washes on Clint's memories feel

very nostalgic and pair really well with the usual mix of purples, oranges and blues.

I will definitely be continuing on with the series.

I also read On Loving Women by Diane Obomsawin — this was a very sweet, poignant, quiet

little Quebecois book about lots of different queer stories from queer women.

It's a triumph and a soft place to fall with its multitude of voices, but I will say

I wish a lot of the stories were longer and now that I've had time to think about it,

while I enjoy the little creatures that stand in for people, that detracts from the story

a little, for me.

3.5 stars.

So there you have it!

Those are all the books that I read while I was at the lake and for the first half of

August.

What was your biggest disappointment of 2017 so far?

Let me know what you've been reading down in the comments below and I'll see you soon.

8 Reasons To Be Thankful You're An Introvert - Duration: 6:34.

8 Reasons To Be Thankful You're An Introvert

One of the greatest kept secrets of the past century is how awesome introverts are.

Thankfully, that is all starting to change.

People are beginning to recognize that introversion is not an affliction that needs to be cured.

There are many advantages to being a introvert.

In this video, I'm going to show you 8 reasons to be thankful you're an introvert.

But before we start, make sure to like this video and subscribe our channel so you won't

miss any interesting update in the future guys.

1.

You see things and you understand.

One of my favorite introvert quotes comes from The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, by Stephen

Chbosky:

"You see things.

You keep quiet about them.

And you understand."

Introverts are known for standing on the sidelines.

We are the ones who hang out along the edges of the party for good reason.

Fringe dwellers have the best view.

From a distance we are able to see the world objectively.

As we quietly observe our surroundings, we gain a deep understanding of things that others

might not even notice.

2.

You don't need to be around people all the time.

For a long time, introverts got a bad rap for our love of being alone.

But if you think about it, the ability to go solo is something to be thankful for.

It frees us up to do what we want, when we want without worrying about pleasing the group.

This is especially advantageous when travelling.

As an avid traveler myself, I've noticed that people who travel in packs are constantly

wasting time trying to agree on what to do next.

Don't get me wrong, we introverts enjoy the company of others, too.

But we are happy to be the lone wolf for a while, then join up with the group later.

3.

You don't buy into the busybody mentality.

Busyness has become a trend, and extroverts have latched onto it like its the last pair

of parachute pants at an MC Hammer concert.

Admittedly, introverts get sucked in by the busybody mentality, too, but we quickly recognize

its futility.

It wears us out, while offering little fulfillment.

We'd much rather focus our limited energy on things that matter to us: our creative

outlets, our close friends, our animals, our projects, our fictional friends.

This approach creates a life with more meaning, and less of the empty filler that the busybody

mentality promotes.

4.

You think and feel deeply.

This can hurt sometimes.

It doesn't always feel good to be a deep diver in a world of shallow swimmers.

Sometimes, it seems easier to numb our intense feelings and keep our thoughts superficial.

I used to do this.

I buried my emotions so well, I'd forgotten how to find them.

Then I realized that the spark of life is fuelled by our deepest thoughts and emotions.

Emotions literally make us feel more alive.

So do ideas, dreams, and lightbulb moments.

Living in the depths might be turbulent at times, but it's better than flatlining at

the surface.

5.

You don't get bored.

Introverts are rarely bored alone.

We find endless amusement in our own thoughts.

Our ideas and fantasies are great company.

We can also sit for hours with our favorite quiet pastime.

Whatever our passion, reading, writing, drawing, playing video games, or making model airplanes,

we become totally engrossed.

We forget that there is a world outside … one that is full of extroverts relentlessly searching

for bigger and brighter forms of entertainment.

6.

You can live well on less.

Extravagance is an extrovert's game.

Introverts tend to be more interested in the simple things in life: a good book, a pumpkin

spice latte, time in nature, a scenic drive with a close friend.

Since we are easily overstimulated, introverts gravitate toward a more minimalistic lifestyle.

We like our quiet rituals and routines.

We enjoy a pared-down existence with fewer friends, and personal belongings.

This allows more space for our heart and mind to expand without the risk of overwhelm.

7.

You take your talents to the next level.

There are A LOT of extremely talented introverts out there.

Of course there are also many gifted extroverts.

The thing about introverts is that we are more likely to put in the hours of solitary

practice needed to become exceptional at our craft.

They say it takes about 10,000 hours to achieve mastery at a skill.

An introvert's love of alone, combined with our intense, often obsessive focus propels

us to levels of mastery that others can't sit still long enough to imagine.

Think Bill Gates, J.K.

Rowling, and Bob Dylan.

They were all introverts single-minded and obsessive enough about their passions to achieve

greatness.

8.

You avoid drama.

Conflict averse introverts avoid drama like its ebola in an airport.

This is indeed something to be thankful for because drama is a destructive form of distraction.

It poisons workplaces, and tears friendships apart.

Sure, it can be entertaining when you watch it on reality T.V.

At least, I assume it is, since people can't seem to get enough of drama-filled shows like

Jersey Shore.

The thing is, we watch these shows because the characters' lives are like a train wreck

that we can't look away from.

We wouldn't want to actually be part of the wreckage.

Thankfully, most introverts don't have to worry about that because we're the opposite

of a drama queen.

We're anti-drama townspeople sitting quietly in our hovel, wondering who these Kardashian

people are, and how the hell they became so famous.

Well, that's the 8 reasons to be thankful you're an introvert.

Really cool information isn't it.

epiled and bridgelux

optical lens 90 and 120 degree mixed

50,000 hour lifespan

it's made to replace a 250 watt

HID light and

actual usage is around 120 watts

it also has, you can

separate the

veg and bloom

independently

so those operate different ranges of lights

or you can run them both at the same time. I think that's pretty cool

fairly unique

they make a few other models too

a 600 watt and a 900 watt

let's go ahead and

take a look at it

power cord

hanging kit

it's pretty heavy

see all the little lens covers

specs there

and as you can see, the

independent veg and bloom modes you can run

there's one central fan

where the power cord goes

looks very nice

anyway, lets get this hooked up and I'll show you how it looks

everything already setup

have to have something relatively

low for the position I've got it in because it needs a

at least a 2 foot clearance

I think

let's go ahead and switch on

the veg mode

see it's mostly blue light which is better for

vegetative growing

let's switch this off

on we'll switch on bloom

this should be all reds

mostly reds

It's pretty intense

not sure how well it's showing on the

camera

right not but it's very intense

so we'll go ahead and switch other one, add the veg

that's veg and bloom, so I guess a mixed pinkish kind of light

that's that

very bright

yeah it's

looks really good

so far you know as far as the

the delivery, the packaging

looks, everything seems to operate fine

so I've got no complaints

you know at this point

so I'm going to

get my plants started under there

couple days and

show you a follow up and

in a few maybe a month or two months

and show how the plants have responded under it

and

going to do a final review

as a follow up

yeah it looks really good

it'w what I would expect from

a light this size

alright I hope you liked that

it's the kingbo 300 watt

led grow light

unboxing and initial review

so

thank you for watching

hope you liked that

and please like, comment and subscribe

Here's The Amazing Thing Jerry Lewis Said About Trump 2 Years Before He Died… | Top Stories Today - Duration: 1:49.

Last week, the world lost legendary comedian Jerry Lewis, who was 91-years-old.

And in memory of him, many brought up his great career and fond memories — but most

news outlets avoided what he said about President Donald Trump.

In 2015, at the beginning of Trump's campaign, Lewis predicted that the billionaire businessmen

and popular celebrity would be a "great" president.

NM reports:

In 2015, in one his last interviews, the "King of Comedy" engaged in a rare discussion

about politics with EWTN News' Raymond Arroyo.

Asked what he felt about the early candidacy of Trump for president, Lewis replied: "I

think he's great."

Pressed as to why he liked Trump, Lewis said "Because he's a showman, and we've never

had a showman in the president's chair."

When Arroyo gently reminded the comedian that many felt former actor Ronald Reagan was a

showman, Lewis said his old friend from Hollywood was "different" and "I can do three

hours on him with just praise – he was so good."

Lewis also took a strong conservative line on admitting refugees from the Middle East

to the U.S.

"Refugees should stay where the hell they are!" he told Arroyo.

Declaring "Hey, nobody has worked harder for the human condition than I have," Lewis

said refugees are "not part of the human condition.

If 11 guys in that group of 10,000 are ISIS, how can I take the chance [of admitting them

to the U.S.]?

I don't want to lose another Frenchman, another Englishman.

That bothers me."

what do you think about this?

HSDC Interpreting Services Feedback - Duration: 6:10.

Hi! I'm Robbi Crockett, the founder of ASL Interpreter Network (ASLIN)

SignOn and ASLIN are joining forces under HSDC's Interpreting Services Department

and have officially come together as of March 1.

We are now working together to smoothly combine operations and are very excited for this opportunity to work together.

It is becoming harder and harder to meet the interpreting needs in the community since SCCC closed its Interpreter Training Program.

For years, if ASLIN or HSDC couldn't fill a job or if they were busy, we would refer work to each other.

We have already been working together so it felt like a really good match.

We are combining resources and staff in order to build the best community of interpreters with a wide variety of skills who can fill the needs of the Deaf community.

Because HSDC is a nonprofit with five different departments:

Interpreting Services, Speech, Audiology, Education, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services.

We have support from all of our other programs here so the interpreters can

lean on HSDC for support and advocacy for their clients and then provide their clients with information about our other services.

We are also able to use revenue made from interpreting services to support our other four departments at HSDC to further support the community.

so that is a reason why we are able to keep the costs relatively low as for our community members.

This is a great opportunity for us to dream big to provide more services and help things to run more smoothly.

Now, we asked the Deaf community what we need to improve on our interpreting? Have them prepared?

Better match their needs? By how? By adding more interpreters, more support, more resources for advocacy, audiology and education.

Hi! I am Brady Painter and I am a staff Deaf interpreter for HSDC Interpreting Services (HSDC IS).

Recently, we saw a vlog from Robbi Crockett that made about 2 months ago.

After the town hall, survey, and running HSDC IS for a few weeks we have received some feedback and questions.

And now, we would like to address 6 things with this vlog:

First: Deaf Interpreters (DI's). We hear you asking for more DI's. 100% YES. We should be using them more.

We do have 1 staff DI here at HSDC IS and we work with several others.

In the past SignOn mainly used DI's for: medical, legal and DeafBlind.

HSDC IS is now implementing a new process to utilize DI's for platform and DeafBlind work as often as possible.

The scheduling team is being trained to look for more opportunities to use a DI.

Not only that, we are currently screening new DI's to join our pool of subcontractors.

Second: DeafFriendly space and signing staff

We are pleased to share that all 3 of our schedulers at HSDC IS have graduated from ITPs and are fluent in ASL!

While our billing specialist and director are both learning ASL,

rest assured, there will always be someone in the IS office who can communicate in ASL.

We also have 2 in house pre certified interpreters who are readily available for HSDC should a need arise.

Once our current in house interpreters have certified,

we look forward to investing in more pre-certified interpreters.

HSDC IS wants to support interpreters working towards becoming certified.

Third: Deaf-friendly website. We have received feedback that our website is still not quite Deaf-friendly,

we are working to address everyone's feedback and will have more information on this soon.

Fourth: ASLIN Interpreter Preference Information.

HSDC IS has been working hard to merge the information saved for ASLIN clients regarding interpreter preferences.

While HSDC IS has a standard that all of our interpreters be certified,

we do honor any request from our Deaf clients for a specific interpreter, certified or not.

This means there are some pre-certified interpreters from ASLIN who we work with based on your feedback.

If you have any confusions or concerns about your preference or interpreters list or want to update your list,

please reach out to us as interpreting@hsdc.org. We are always excited to hear from you!

Fifth: Professional Development (PD) opportunities.

We hear you asking for more workshops. We are currently working towards setting up a Pro Tactile workshop.

We are also looking into providing resources to pre-certified interpreters in our community hoping to

take the plunge and maintain certification.

Another fantastic idea from the survey was a request for mini-workshops from local professionals.

Such as, doctors, lawyers, technologists explaining about their career.

Which can help interpreters to improve their interpreting skills.

Lastly: You asked for more ASL videos and transcripts, and you got it!

We look forward to keeping the community up to date via VLOGs.

Thank you. Please feel free to reach out to us with your questions and comments at interpreting@hsdc.org.
