Youtube daily report w Aug 25 2017

Today we are going to veer into the arena of the morbid and talk about death.

It's something most of us think about and fear, perhaps hoping that when we finally

go, we drift away into the ether without much pain or anguish, a smooth transition into

the great nothingness or whatever comes next.

The most intense or chronic human fears are generally agreed upon, such as the statistically

irrational fear of flying, and then more rational fears such as failure, rejection, loneliness

and even the possibility of a legion of arachnids marching into our home.

Another great fear is sickness, and the onset of the pain or disability it might result

in.

But what kind of sickness could be so lethal we hardly have time to think about it?

That's what we'll find out, in this episode of The Infographics Show: Diseases that will

End you the Quickest.

Don't forget to subscribe and click the bell button so that you can be part of our

Notification Squad.

Let's start with a disease that is perhaps the most feared on the planet following a

slew of movies depicting its virulence and horrific symptoms.

We are talking about the Ebola virus.

Most cases have been in parts of West Africa - 11,310 of which resulted in death out of

the 28,616 people that were infected.

That was just in the period from 2013-2016.

Cases of Ebola have also been documented in Italy, Mali, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

In the USA, 4 cases of Ebola have been recorded, resulting in one death.

It's spread from animals to human, then further, and easily, spread from human to

human.

Infection occurs when a person who carries the virus transfers it to another through

blood, bodily fluids or secretions.

The first stages of the disease are flu-like symptoms, which often progress to intense

vomiting, liver damage, and as the movies like to show, internal and external bleeding.

It can be treated, but some of those that have died have done so within days of the

onset of symptoms.

This one could happen to just about anyone.

Imagine after chowing down on your favorite seafood dish, within a matter of hours you

were dead.

This is a worst case scenario if you contract cholera.

It's a water-borne disease that that involves the fecal bacteria vibrio cholera.

It kills about 42,000 to 142,000 people each year, according to the World Health Organization.

Estimates are made when cases are believed to go undocumented.

In extreme circumstances the quick loss of fluids and electrolytes could end your life

within two hours of showing symptoms.

If you survive the two hours, it could be a few more hours, or days, until you die of

dehydration and shock.

Cholera thrives where there is poor sanitation, but it's also found in undercooked shellfish

that have traveled through infested waters.

Those shellfish could then make it onto your plate.

Cholera is rare in industrialized countries, but there are around 1.3 to 4 million cases

worldwide each year.

If you find yourself with severe diarrhea, drink lots of oral rehydration solution.

Back to the stuff of nightmares, who gets scared when they hear the words "rapidly

progressive"?

That's a term often used with necrotizing fasciitis, otherwise known as the flesh-eating

disease.

According to the CDC, 700 to 1100 cases occur each year in the United States, and it has

a 26.6 percent mortality rate.

The infection could happen after surgery, or more often when the bacteria infects an

open wound, burn, or blister.

If your body is already fighting another disease, or alcoholism, or you are generally frail,

you may not have a strong enough immune system to take it on and so it can develop into something

nasty.

A quick image search will reveal that it pretty much tops the scale of nastiness.

The CDC says keep wounds clean, and if one does suddenly start to excessively throb and

hurt, leading to vomiting and fever, get the fastest Uber in town to the nearest hospital.

The CDC didn't expressly say use Uber…

The most recently reported case was that of Edgar Savisaar, an Estonian politician, who

lost a leg after being infected in Thailand.

Sticking with bacterial infections, another quick end to your enjoyment on terra firma

could be toxic shock syndrome, aka TSS.

This infection has been known to make itself present in skin lesions, or even in menstruating

women using ultra absorbent tampons.

Around half the cases affect the latter.

Luckily it only affects 1 or 2 out of every 100,000 women, and unluckily some strains

have a 5 percent mortality rate at best.

It is very rare to die, but in 2014 a young British girl died in just 5 days after getting

TSS from using tampons for the first time, according to the Daily Mail.

If you don't die you could lose a limb.

Cosmopolitan published an article in which a 27-year-old American model lost her right

leg below the knee, her left toes, and is still in constant pain, following a bout of

TSS.

Losing a limb might not be so bad compared to what might happen if you get meningococcal

disease.

This is a bacterial form of meningitis most common in the very young and also adolescents.

It's such a virulent disease that the USA has implemented enhanced meningococcal surveillance

systems to get to it fast if it occurs.

Still, half of those that get it die if it's not treated.

Of those who are treated, one in ten to twenty will still succumb to death within 24-48 hours,

and out of those that survive 2 out of 10 will suffer brain damage, loss of limbs, hearing

loss or other disabilities.

The disease is a bacterial infection that affects the brain and spinal cord, that starts

with a fever, light sensitivity, a stiff neck, headache and vomiting.

The WHO says the strain called meningococcal septicaemia is even worse.

Most cases occur in Africa, and resulted in 1146 deaths on the continent in 2014.

In the USA there were 375 cases of meningococcal disease in 2015.

It is transmitted from person to person through coughing, kissing or sneezing.

There are vaccines available fortunately.

The second most common form of meningitis is viral meningitis.

Most people will recover from this in about 7 to 10 days.

A more common disease, and one that's been getting some attention in the US media of

late is Chagas disease.

The disease is caused by a blood sucking parasite.

While it's not deadly for most people, according to the CDC 20-30% of people will suffer "debilitating

and sometimes life-threatening medical problems."

Symptoms are many, but include the usual suspects of headache, fever, rash, body aches, fatigue,

nausea, diarrhea or vomiting.

In more serious cases it can cause death by heart failure.

It kills around 21,000 people each year in Central America, South America and Mexico,

but according to the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, there

might be more cases in the US than is reported.

There is no vaccine, but drugs can help you if you get infected.

The CDC recommends using insect repellent and not sleeping in abodes made out of straw,

mud, or thatched palm, where the bugs like to live.

You may not have heard of Chagas disease, but you more than likely have heard of the

Black Death.

This is the name given to the bubonic plague, pneumonic plague and septicemic plague.

It killed between 30–60 percent of people in Europe and 75 million people worldwide

when it was at pandemic levels.

We may associate it with the medieval history and images of bedraggled bodies piled up on

wooden carts, but it's still around today.

The most common, Bubonic plague, starts with lymph node swellings called buboes.

At its worst 4 out of 5 died within 10 days.

It's not so bad nowadays, but on reporting instances of the plague in New Mexico in 2017

the New York Times said, "It is much less common than it once was, but it is no less

serious."

Pneumonic plague can be spread via air or water, but septicemic and bubonic plague are

spread through blood poisoning after being bitten by fleas.

According to the WHO there are only about 650 documented cases each year around the

world.

The American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene states that almost 22,000 cases

were reported globally from 2000-2009, which resulted in 1,612 fatalities.

During that time – the last available statistics – 7 out of 56 plague sufferers died in the

USA.

The New York Times reports that one out of the four cases of plague in New Mexico in

2015 resulted in death.

Four more cases of plague were found in 2016 in the same state, but all those infected

pulled through.

Talking to the Guardian, a middle aged mother and father from New Mexico who survived the

Black Death said, "We survived the plague.

That's a big deal."

The man had it worse.

He spent several weeks in a coma and had to have both his legs amputated below the knee.

His wife was told there was only a one percent chance he'd survive, but he did.

Miracles must run in the man's family, as the report states his brother had won 27 million

dollars in the Texas lottery a few years before Black Death hit the family.

We'll leave it on that almost happy anecdote, and hope that everyone watching will never

have to experience any of the diseases mentioned in this clip.

The great differential in the school is that

you are exclusive, you are not only one more student;

you have something that fulfills your needs.

Like I need something related to my job,

for example, I work as a bartender

and I am a nutritionist as well

and sometimes I need to learn something related to my area

and the personalized exercise can put me

into that situation and make me learn

in a way that I will remember, and use

not only the repetitive method but

something that can really happen in my daily routine, or at my job, and I will be able to use it.

And that is something that not all the schools can offer,

because it's something that needs to suits my needs.

Related to the immersions: they were awesome!

In my point of view as a student

and also because I had a lot of experiences about

the contact with the native people, with the students

and also with the teachers in other situations.

One thing is having the teacher and the contact with him in a class.

Another thing is having all the students together and the teacher,

because each student had their presentation

so each one had to spend time on that presentation

to make it as perfect as it could be.

My presentation, I had to speak and put everything together,

because my presentation was about eating habits

so I had to show what I was doing

and also use English

then the difficulty level was bigger

but I understand that it was necessary,

because everything that I have studied and I´m still studying was used.

And the school gives you this opportunity

to show what you have learned

and use it speaking to other people, to other students.

The natives were watching you

speaking their language and showing something you have learned,

and that for me is an unbelievable experience

in the cultural immersion, and that happens here.

One thing is having the teacher and the contact with him in a class.

Another thing is having all the students together and the teacher,

because each student had their presentation

so each one had to spend time on that presentation

to make it as perfect as it could be.

My presentation, I had to speak and put everything together,

because my presentation was about eating habits

so I had to show what I was doing

and also use English

then the difficulty level was bigger

but I understand that it was necessary,

because everything that I have studied and I´m still studying was used.

And the school gives you this opportunity

to show what you have learned

and use it speaking to other people, to other students.

The natives were watching you

speaking their language and showing something you have learned,

and that for me is an unbelievable experience

in the cultural immersion, and that happens here.

The Chapter 13 Trustee Doesn't Like My Plan, Should I Be Worried? - Duration: 2:36.

I filed chapter 13 and I went to the meeting with the trustee and it went really bad.

Should I be worried?

My name is Ron Drescher, I'm an attorney, practicing bankruptcy and creditor's rights.

Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and you know, you probably don't need to be

that worried in a Chapter 13 case.

I tell my client's when we're getting ready to move forward in a Chapter 13 case that

at that trustee meeting, three bad things are going to happen.

Trustee wants more information on your bankruptcy schedules.

So, the trustee wants you to amend the schedules.

Bankruptcy trustee wants more documents.

You know, maybe bank statements going back a year.

Maybe if you had a business, a profit and loss statement on the business.

Maybe they want better information about the value of the car.

The value of your home, or it could be many, many, many things.

And the trustee's entitled to get that documentation before the trustee makes a recommendation

on whether or not to approve your plan.

The third bad thing that happens, is that the trustee doesn't like your plan.

They say it's underfunded, which means that the amount you're purposing to pay is not

going to be enough to actually pay the debts that have to be paid as part of your Chapter

13 case, like taxes, or like to cure the arrears on your home.

Or if you want to restructure a car, enough to actually pay the car through the life of

the plan.

So, the trustee may tell you, you know, I need you to go back and take another shot

at that plan.

So those are the three bad things that happen in almost every Chapter 13 case.

So, if it happened in your case, I wouldn't be too worried and I would do what the trustee

wants and move forward in the case.

My name is Ron Drescher, I'm an attorney practicing bankruptcy and creditor's rights and if you're

a little nervous about your Chapter 13 case, especially if you filed it on your own, please

pick up the phone and call me.

I would love to hear from you.

[Hmm]

In beautiful threads of my words

I'm trying to weave since long, O beautiful

Many failed attempts of these eyes,

they commit the mistake of seeing You.

Should I call this craziness,

or should I call this an undying passion

You are (to me), like an Angel

You are (to me), like an Angel

like the light of a misty morning in Monsoons

I can't stay away from You

If You listen to my silence,

You will find your mention in it.

If You listen to my silence,

You will find your mention in it.

If You look into my dreams,

(in those dreams too) I fall in love with only you.

Term this a Love,

please don't term it as my fault

You're like an Angel

You're like an Angel

like the light of a misty morning in Monsoons

Every marathon is twenty six miles

three exhausting hours

but my real work starts after the finish line.

There's a hundred and forty 4am wake up calls

two busted headlamps

three ways to run my island

street, marina, park.

Carefully planned moments to hydrate

and pauses here and there to catch my breath.

Two eggs, one potato, iron, Vitamin D, everyday.

Ten minute drives to chase the X-23

endless working lunches between meetings

two rolls of gauze

one hundred and five hours on the treadmill

and my three biggest fan standing by.

I'm Michele Gonzalez

DIY Artkal/Perler Bead Cactus Pots and Coasters - Duration: 7:00.

I don't know how I could even kill an air plant. I thought they were really easy to raise but I guess not..

Hey guys you're watching QDCrafts.

So school is starting for me very soon and I was thinking about which plants I should

bring in to my dorm room to make it a little bit less depressing.

But then I remember last year when I tried to raise a few simple succulents and cacti,

they all just died.

So instead this year, I decided to make some DIY fuse bead cacti that aren't too hard

to make and will fit well in any dorm room or bedroom.

I hope you guys enjoy this video and let's get started with the first DIY.

First off, I'm using these S80 Artkal beads to make a small 2D cactus sprite.

You can pause the video at any time to copy my design down or create your own tiny cactus.

I'm using artkal beads because they have different shades that I really like but any

brand of beads works.

I decided to make the cactus cuter by giving it some facial features and I also used some

of my unneeded beads to make a stake that will go into the pot substrate.

Now that we've got the design down, it's time to iron the beads.

I set my iron at number 3 usually and iron in a circular motion on top of the ironing

paper until I see the beads are bolded onto the paper.

After both sides are fused, I put a heavy object on top and let it cool.

If you're afraid of melting your pegboard by accident, use masking tape to take the

beads off like I did for this one.

On this cactus, I'm using artkal ironing film so that it will end up having a shiny

finish on it.

The process is the same as the last cactus, but I had to take off the tape on the other

side before ironing again.

Tada, now you've got a super shiny cactus that looks like it has a waxy coat on top.

To display these little guys I got a small terracotta pot that I'll be stuffing a foam

piece into.

The foam will be the platform that the cactus will be sticking out of and it saves me from

having to pour hundreds of beads into the pot to make it look like dirt or rocks.

I cut it so that it just perfectly sits near the top of the pot and I cut a slit into it

to stick the cactus through.

For the substrate, I used some grey beads to act as rocks and you can cover them in

glue if you don't want them to move or fall out.

And that how you make some easy and adorable mini cactus pots.

The idea for this 3D cactus came from the perler bead website so I will leave a link

in the description if you want to see their version.

I used two shades of green for this and the darker shade is just to add a few dots on

the cactus.

This is a mini version once again so you can make it right on a small 14 x 14 pegboard

if you don't have the big ones.

After ironing, these two pieces will slide together to form your 3D cactus.

To display this, I found a glass cup that I filled with this bottle of sand that I no

kidding, found in one of the corners of my house

randomly. I have no idea how it got there.

Then I placed the cactus near the edge and left a space for my 2D cactus to make it less

empty.

The last cactus is a huge coaster cactus that was inspired by an actual coaster product

that I saw online.

Again links are in the description if you want to check out the original.

This looks best when you make it on a circular pegboard and here is the base of the cactus

that will eventually stick into another foam piece in a pot.

Make sure you leave these slots in the coasters so that they will stay in place when you slide

everything together.

This is one of the coaster pieces and it has two slots to hold two more coasters.

You can change up the positions of the slots which will make the coasters point to different

directions.

I made 3 of these smaller circles with one slot in them so that they will go on top of

the larger ones.

In total, I have 7 pieces with 6 of them that I can use as coasters.

I found this bamboo pot from the dollar store and like I did with the first cactus, I used a

foam piece with a slit in it to hold the base of the cactus in place.

Then I hot glued the foam to the pot and used some sand coloured beads as the substrate.

To assemble, it's very simple, just slide the coasters into a slot and as you go, it

will build into a coaster cactus!

And now it's complete!

Any time you have a drink and you need a coaster, just grab a part of this cactus and place

your cup right on top.

It's water proof too so don't worry if you have any spills.

When you or your guests are done with the drinks, slide the coasters back into their

slots so that the coaster cactus is complete again.

Thank you guys so much for making it all the way to the end of the video.

Isn't this one so cute?

I think this is probably my favourite cactus out of all of them.

Let me know in the comments below which one was your favourite and if you recreate any

of them, please tag me @QDCrafts on Twitter or Instagram because I would love to see it.

I'm so sad that school is starting so soon and I probably won't have that much time

to make new videos, so just a heads up for those of you who are waiting.

I'll try my best to make a few pre-recorded videos before summer ends, but for now I'll

see you guys next time with another QDCraft.

Bye!

ARTYSTO, DECYDUJ! - Duration: 8:27.

Good morning, good morning from the car, somewhere along the route: Podkowa Lesna - Warsaw.

Well, today is the first day at work after my vacation.

I wonder what I would meet in the office.

Even after 15 years of work one can make a change.

I made the change this summer.

Namely,

I'd always been a fan of checking my email box during my vacation

because I preferred to keep an eye what I was receiving,

rather than have two days out of my life,

on organizing e-mails from previous three or two weeks, upon my return.

This time I did otherwise.

During whole three weeks of my vacation I did not open my e-mail box,

and I am very glad that I did. Always it is me who is the biggest problem.

It's me who wants to check e-mails... react... forward...

And yet, as I'm on vacation, I'm on vacation.

Vacation is the time to slow down.

So I wonder how long will it take to go through all the emails?

Secondly, I wonder,

if I find there anything

what should have been found earlier.

I am very curious about this,

however, when it comes to the quality of my vacation, three weeks without checking emails,

made my vacation better and I feel I have never relaxed

that much.

Famous vloger went to work and forgot to vlog!

Sorry my dear viewers,

but today was a little heavy.

I planned to get out of the office in the middle of the day and say something to you.

I will to it in the car.

So, from this place, I would like to greet Ludwik Siadlak,

the only vloger my daughter is familar with by his name.

My daughter - two and a half year old.

I would like to say "hi" Ludwik, who inspired this episode a bit by

publishing on his vlog two episodes at once,

a long one and a short one, and asked his audience: „which one do you prefer?

Now it's you who decides what to watch".

Well, I commented it in the following way:

„listen, you are the artist. You are the creator. You are the author and it is you who is supposed to know what to say and how to do it.

It's you who decides if you are going to use a long form or a short one. Don't ask your audience".

In my opinion, it's not the audience who decides in this areas.

These are issues to be solved by every author or creator who takes this decision

before approaching his audience

This is my opinion and it's not only about vlogers but also about muscians and other professionals who

should decide on

who they want to be, how they want to talk and what they want to specialize in:

personal branding… or maybe

communication?

Afterwards, they can become what they want to be

and talk in the way they had decided to talk.

In the form, they founded.

And then if it turns out that

something does not work, or

the creator, the artist considers that

he wants to change something, they can change it.

It isn't said that their decision cannot be changed, whatever they do: vlog, blog

or anything else.

It doesn't have to be forever and

when it's not, it doesn't mean that ones looses.

No, they don't.

I would say, they win.

But never bother your audience with taking your own decisions on

who and what we want to be

and what we want to say to the world.

People have their own decisions to take

and I think that they don't want to take someone else's.

Let me tell you what Iisten to on Audible in the car:

cool book. I mean well beginning, I just started listening to it.

"So Good They Can not Ignore You."

Cal Newport.

This is the man who also talked on TedTalk

about "deep work": we should take up one task and really focus just on that,

not to distract. It is true.

Testing... I bought

a new camera. The running, shock-resistant,

resistant to rain,

with some super-stabilizing system.

However, it seems it doesn't achieve a blurry background

so it will be additional only. An addition.

While recording it, I still know nothing about its sound quality (I hope it's not that bad),

but it is nice.

Coffee too hot again. I forgot to add cold water.

This thermos I have is too good and it simply keeps water very hot.

Let me use such a comparison:

if you ask your audience about what you should do,

how you should communicate - saying "audience" I do not mean your fans.

It may be people in your team, if you are a leader at work.

It may be your colleagues, if you are part of a team, and so on.

If you ask people about what to do

you automatically put yourself in the role

of a member of a wedding band,

which can be approached by anyone who says: "listen Jerzy,

play

"That Tango".

However, if you take your time to think about

what and hpw you want to say,

what message you want

to share with the world,

you will make it constantly

and act like Pink Floyd

who

used to go to the studio,

record albums which were listened by people.

If you go to a Pink Floyd gig, you can not come to David Gilmour and ask him

"Dave, play "That Tango ".

Because he would ask:

"That's ... what?"

I hope you liked it.

If you find this episode cool,

press "like"

and subscribe to my channel and click on the bell

and share it with your friends.

If you have any questions, please write a comment below the video. I'll make sure to answer all the comments.

Parental Perks - VEDA 2017 [CC] - Duration: 3:27.

Hi, YouTube. It's Kathy.

This is not my normal place, and the sound in here is very echo-y.

That's weird to find out.

Hi!

I know I just got back from my trip to Oregon-

[music]

-but now I've gone on another trip, going

North instead of South this time, for a friend's wedding.

Which means I'm staying at my parents' house.

However, they are out for the evening, so it's like I get to have a party in their house.

And by a party, I mean an introvert party, where I just use all their cool stuff.

So that's what I'm gonna do.

The thing is, I obviously grew up here, but I moved out a really long time ago, 'cause

I'm much older than I look, so there are lots of changes.

I have the option of using this big tv, or I could use this big tv.

It's weird that I'm watching myself on a big tv in your house.

And if I didn't want to use a big tv, I could use this regular sized one.

Even the kitchen here is super friggin' swanky.

Which, you might have seen in some of my old videos of being home and visiting.

Dishwasher!?

Whoooa!

A garbage can that opens when you hover over it - whaaat?

A microwave?

I definitely don't have one of those.

This stove is all button operated and it - it's weird, guys.

And if it wasn't for the fact that I am not drinking in 2017, this would be all mine.

Even this toaster seems like it should be in a space ship.

And the moment you've all been waiting for - my childhood bedroom.

It's a sewing room.

This machine is much fancier than the one she used to have.

I didn't know she got a new one. Awesome!

This closet is bigger than my bathroom.

I'd consider barbecuing something but it's been so long since I've done something like

that that I would probably set things on fire.

A really big change from going from living in a small town in my youth to going to live

in a city is I don't really have a lawn anymore, or, like, a lot of green space at my house,

but here I have a front lawn- -and I have a back yard to play in.

Mostly for reading, let's be honest.

I would just read here.

Maybe frolic a little.

[music]

In fact, I think I will use this toy, too.

[music]

And, of course, a trip to Mom and Dad's is

never complete without basking in their glorious hot tub.

Ahhhh! [pop can opens]

And it's not a fully entitled moment until you get a selfie.

[click]

What about you?

If you've moved away from home, are there any perks you enjoy when you go home?

Let me know about them down in the comments below and I will see you tomorrow. Bye!
