We're sharing some gameday food that I think you're gonna love not only is this gameday food
But it's perfect for leftover makeovers for lunches for you
Or your kids or really just about anytime you need a snack today. We're gonna be making these
Pizza burger sliders that harken back to Rick's youth because
They're almost like the ones the lunch ladies made for him when he was in elementary school
so almost
So let's go see how these all come together
We're gonna get started making these really easy
throwback pizza burgers from Rick's youth
and I thought they would be a really great way to use up some leftover meat sauce from spaghetti and
with Super Bowl coming up
I think this is a really great way to put out
A little Super Bowl snack or an appetizer and you can make a bunch of these all at once. This is a really great
Quick and easy option to make lunch for your kids
If you're doing an event if you're having a party these are great. What kid doesn't love pizza and
We're gonna make these little pizza burger sliders, and they're gonna be super super easy what I have here
These are slider buns that I just bought at the grocery store
They're smaller than a regular hamburger, bun, but you can definitely make these on a hamburger, bun
I'm making them on a slider button because I want to impart how nice they are for
like gameday snacking
and they're a little bit smaller so everybody can have
More of whatever you're putting out Rick has shared with me that when he was growing up in his school cafeteria
they used to make a pizza burger which was a hamburger bun topped with a thick meat sauce and then a slice of
What he thinks was American cheese?
I almost swear lestrade cheddar shredded cheddar. Yes, okay. Well you heard it here first
But we're gonna go ahead and use mozzarella and what we're gonna do to kind of
Pump this up a little is I have these mini pepperonis, and we're going to throw some of those on there
We're also going to use some my homemade pizza seasoning
and I will leave cards at the end of the video where you can access the links to that and
We're just gonna get going. This is Rick's Irish spaghetti sauce you will also find links and cards to this
And/or you can use your favorite sauce whatever it is, but that's what we're using today and
you can you can see that Rick's sauce is full of meat and mushrooms and
We are not going to put a ton just enough. You know you want it to be a little bit Hardy kind of like
Think think halfway between like pizza and sloppy joes because when you're thinking about it pizza burger
You know and I have a pizza for her
Recipe on the channel that we enjoy as a family about twice a year
you know I do them in the skillet and they're just yummy but
Yeah, that's where that that's with them. You know like a hamburger. I did just warm this sauce a bit
It's not
Like completely heated through, but I have my oven preheated
To 350 degrees and that's just gonna help us to melt the cheese and and heat this all the way through the other thing
It's not it's great like I said, I didn't like I didn't boil the sauce. I just heated it up a little bit
Then I'm gonna go ahead and put some pepperoni on
Here because we're going to put the cheese on top and I want that kind of to sandwich it in there the meat sauce has
Pork and beef in it already it does
but like you know we both mentioned you use whatever sauce is your favorite if you have leftover spaghetti sauce
This is a great way to use it up
Even if you just do a veggie sauce and I'm using pepperoni here
But if you have some other favorite topping that you'd like to add
You could do that sparingly. I just thought the pepperoni would be
These are great because they're not like the regular sized ones would just be too much
Right and it would be totally covered
Add as little or as many as you like or don't add them at all it doesn't even matter
Mendon next comes the cheese this is just some whole milk mozzarella
and then I'm gonna sprinkle it with a little pizza seasoning on the top and
you want to be careful you're gonna want if you are like a cheese lover you're gonna want to like douse this and cheese and
you're just not gonna want to do that because
Too much of a good thing is sometimes bad, I would say I used about a cup and a half of cheese, and I used
Six buns, so we've got a dozen heat the burgers here. These are gonna go in the oven for about
Eight to ten minutes after I sprinkle sprinkle from up high so you get good coverage
That's what all the Chevy chefs do and there you have it simple. That's easy
I think this would be great for kids lunch. Just you could really just whip these out pretty fast
I'm gonna pop these in the oven and we'll be back and we'll show you what these look like
These just came out of the oven and they look fantastic they were in there for just about ten minutes
you really want to keep a close eye on them just you don't want them to burn you don't want them to get overcooked and
You don't I?
Prefer it if the cheese doesn't get dried out. I did not put these under the broiler
I just put them in a hot oven and the reason I did that was because I didn't want the cheese to get crispy and
brown I wanted it to just be melted and
That's your choice
If you want to put these under a broiler you're gonna need to watch them very closely because they will go fast
I like them this way this also helps to keep the roll a little bit soft on the bottom you also
Can toast these little buns if you want?
Toast the tops so they're a little bit crunchy you can also do this on an English muffin
I had considered doing that as well you can do it on a slice of bread. You know you
Do what you want, but because I'm making these for lunch
And I was hoping to do this kind of like as party food. I think this is like the perfect
The perfect size in school everybody loved these so much that you could go back up for seconds
So when you go through mine the first time they give you a whole you know whole bond with the pizza burger, bun
I want to go back for a second if they gave you a half on one
Almost everybody went back for seconds
So I'm gonna go and plate this up, so you can have a look and then we'll have Rick give it a taste you
Do you haven't I plated some up for you, and they're ready to go? I think they look great. They smell great
They're perfect for lunch today
And they'll be perfect as a game day snack if you want to put these out on your Super Bowl spread
Or if you want to use them for your kids for parties
They're super easy to make and you know what if you're doing this for like your kids sleepover
get the kids involved have some some toppings out and let them make their own little mini pizza sliders and
Pizza burger sliders, and they'll have a lot of fun doing it so are you ready to taste these Wow okay?

Gives it a nice little bite

Rick's pasta sauce as always is on point and we love it. It's just something different and in Rick's case it's something
Nostalgic Rick wanted you to know - I know he's standing right here, but sometimes
It's hard for him to be heard on the microphone
You can do this with whatever kind of cheese you want you can do it with shredded cheddar shredded mozzarella
You can even use slices of American cheese if that's what you have on hand. It's all gonna come out fine
You make this work for you with what you have in your kitchen. It doesn't matter
I mean how could this be bad cheese and pasta sauce and bread I mean how can that be bad?
