Youtube daily report w Jan 2 2018

Kappa No Yu is an open air public onsen located in Aomori's famous Yagen Onsen area.

On paper this little wonder is everything that someone could look for unfortunately,

the shortsightedness of the local government turned this little paradise into a sad abandoned place suffering from the harsh weather of Aomori.

Because of some unfortunate choices, the Onsen is now featuring a semi covered wooden roof and pillars that are suffering from the elements and cut most of the Onsen bathing area in half.

While I will strongly suggest anyone visiting the area to give Kappa No Yu a try,

I would also urge them to talk to the local administration to give back this little onsen its past beauty.

New Year's Resolutions | Listening, Vocabulary, & MORE... - Duration: 7:26.

Happy New Year!

Wait, say that again.

What?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Today we're going to talk to you about New Year's resolutions.

That's coming up.

Today we're going to tell you some of our New Year's resolutions.

Which are things that we hope that we can accomplish this year.

And this is something that people...

Not everybody does but many people do.

And it's a way to set some goals for yourself

and things that you want to accomplish.

And this actually relates a lot to language learning

because one thing we tell our students all the time

is to set short-term goals for yourself.

Set some learning goals for yourself so you know what

you need to work on and try to accomplish so that you

can practice and improve your language skills.

So this lesson will be a good listening activity.

And we'll also put up some vocabulary words

and let you know the meaning, some words that you may not know.

So without further ado, let's talk about our New Year's resolutions.

My first New Year's resolution this year is to get in shape.

And this is more, you know, my goal to do some more exercise to get a little more fit.

Maybe I'm thinking about running a marathon later this year.

We'll see how that goes.

But to get outside, be a little more active, and just be healthier in general.

So I'd really like to get in shape this year.

So usually, many years ago, I used to have these long

lists of resolutions that I used to create for myself.

Things like be more organized and lose 20 pounds.

Would you complete all of them?

No. So that's the problem that I never did any of them

And it was frustrating, so a couple years ago I told myself one or two.

Just do one or two at most and then try to really accomplish those.

So this year I have two.

And my first one is to be more grateful.

And I think this is very important for me.

As the years go by I try to be grateful for the things I have in my life.

And not kind of keep wanting more.

So in order to do that, I have a little journal.

My little gratitude journal.

I know it's very small, but I can carry it in my purse.

And I can put it anywhere.

So from time to time, I'll open it and write things.

Or people that I'm grateful for in my life.

And I really want to do more of this this year because

I started this last year, and I only have one page.

So I really...it's a continuation for my whole life.

But I want to make sure that I really write in it this year.

It might not be every day, but every time I remember.

Really want to write in my gratitude journal.

Another resolution that I have is to learn more about cooking and nutrition.

And this also goes back to health.

Because I would like to have more home-cooked meals, and out eating out as much.

And try to eat a little healthier...more fruits more veggies.

Definitely, I need more veggies.

Yeah, you do.

So that's something that I think is really important for me.

And trying to do that throughout the year, I know that I'm

not going to just completely change all at once, but just...maybe a little at a time.

Again, it's all about...I think setting

short-term goals, and trying to realize those

So that's definitely something that I would like to do more of.

Have some more home-cooked meals and eat healthier.

My second resolution this year again...kind of ties into what Wes was saying.

For me, this is something that's continuous.

It's every year, but I just always want to improve.

But it's to take care of myself.

Take better care of myself.

That is to...you know, go to sleep earlier.

I am an early riser, so I always wake up early in the morning.

And sometimes I don't go to sleep as early as I'd like.

For me to get a full night's sleep.

So I'd like to make sure I do that.

Take care of myself with exercise.

I really enjoy doing yoga, so I want to focus on doing more of that.

And also with...even healthier eating.

And then just cooking and making...

Enjoying it. It's a hobby of mine.

I like to cook so...

I'd also like to do more meditation and more breathing exercises.

As an anxious person, it really helps calm me down.

I should do that too.

Yeah. It's very useful.

It helps kind of de-stress, and it's just really, really good for...

for your mind and for your body.

So, that's all part of my resolution to take better care of myself.

And I think it's a useful resolution for everyone.

You go to sleep now at like 9 o'clock.

No, at like 11pm.

You want to go to sleep at 7pm?

I want to go to bed at like 10pm.

A couple of New Year's resolutions that we have for interactive English is...

First, we'd like to continue the schedule that we've been

trying to maintain, and do two lessons a week.

At least two lessons a week, which can be pretty

challenging with a lot of other things going on in life.

But, we'd like to continue doing two lessons each week throughout the entire year.

So hopefully we'll be able to make that possible and

continue sharing a lot of different lessons with you guys.

And the other resolution that we are kind of hoping will happen this year is...

We'd like to expand our scope and our lessons.

So we'd like to have a webpage.

We'd like to do some courses and ebooks.

That we're putting together.

And we hope that we can finish and share those

with you, so that you can take advantage of

even more of our lessons and learn and improve.

And you can grow with us.

So hopefully we'll get that done as soon as possible.

We're working on it.

So these are some of our New Year's Resolutions.

Now, we would like to hear from all of you.

So in the comments, please tell us one of your New Year's Resolutions.

Tell us something that you would like to do or accomplish this year.

Or maybe something you want to change to improve your life.

So in the comments, let us know what one of your New Year's Resolutions is.

Yeah, it's...I always find it very helpful when I read other people's resolutions.

I find it inspiring.

Yeah, share with each other.

Yeah, so you can...you can kind of get some inspiration

from what you see in the comments.

Also, please remember to like and share this video

if you enjoy learning English with us.

And, as always, thanks so much for watching and we'll see you next time.

Bye.

Single Use Cameras - Duration: 3:51.

We just finished the year,

Happy New Year, by the way!

And we are sure that

We have all celebrated it and we went partying,

And well, you could go partying with your compact camera,

but there's always a friend who's going to throw the drinks over you,

so that's why I've directly opted to use

single use cameras.

Single use cameras are very simple,

Surely, when we were little,

we have all taken many pictures with them

And they just have:

roll film negative,

shot, and automatic flash.

They really do not have anything else.

Well, in some cases the flash is automatic,

and in others it can be configured if we want flash or not.

Why do we use them?

First,

They are very easy to use.

So,

Any friend can take it and

take pictures with it.

Nobody has that fear of: "No, it's that I'm going to break it"

"I do not know how to use it..."

because there is not much to do with them:

just: point what you liked,

and shoot it.

On the other hand: its quality / price ratio.

They are very cheap cameras,

(no more than 15 euros),

With 27-34 photos, and the quality it isn't too bad,

they are really quite good,

what is really important is the film roll that they have.

It's true that, there are some with bad film rolls,

but then there are the Ilford,

that is a HP5, so,

the quality is optimal.

on the other hand: it has flash,

so we can shoot

in almost any light condition.

We can spend the day with friends on a trip,

go party, or be at home

shooting the Christmas dinner.

In fact, we can use it in

almost any situation.

On the other hand, we can choose the type of .

film negative we want to use.

color, b&w...

and b&w with C41 developed.

If we don't have near a trusted laboratory

that we rely on its development process in b&w,

we have this option.

We will get black and white photos, but the development is

like "automatic".

we also have another advantage

and it is nonchalance.

So we haven't to think about

"I have to put the negative in the correct way..."

"it's ok...",

or "I don't know if I've rewound it completely..." no way!

simply: you buy the camera,

you shoot (it already comes with the battery)

and when you finish it, You take it to your laboratory

(the laboratory takes care of everything)

You bring it to us, and that's it!

We return it to you with the developed film roll,

digitized and with the copies.

So, we suggest you buy some for Christmas

because children will love it.

ther are going to shoot

But they are not going to see them on the screen!

And maybe they forget about them,

four days later, when you come back with the roll developed,

and the copies,

that magic of remembering returns:

"Oh, when they gave me the bike!"

or something,

And you can create an album,

that it is also the essence of the analog,

to have the tangible photographs.

so, for XMas present: Single Use Camera!!

Korean trade ministry expects sluggish growth in exports in 2018 - Duration: 2:41.

Pundits and experts have been reading between the lines of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's

New Year's speech.

The verdict is that it was pro-South Korea... and very clearly anti-American.

While the analysis goes on and we await the next developments,... the U.S. State Department

has come out,... saying Seoul and Washington are closely cooperating on a unified response

to the North.

Lee Ji-won has more.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's New Year's speech sparked a flurry of speculation and

analysis worldwide, especially within the U.S.

Amid concerns Kim is attempting to drive a wedge between the alliance with his 'pro-South

Korea, anti-U.S. stance',...

Voice of America reported Tuesday that an official from the U.S. State Department said

it's working closely with Seoul on formulating a joint response to the North.

And to South Korea's welcoming of Kim's comment on his willingness to send athletes to the

PyeongChang Olympics in February,.. the official said the U.S. is certain the South will host

a safe and successful Winter Games.

This comes as Kim warned the U.S. that the entire mainland is within the range of his

nuclear weapons,... while expressing North Korea's will to take part in PyeongChang 2018

and that both Koreas can meet urgently on the Olympics.

But many North Korea watchers say the young leader's two-track approach is a ploy to shake

the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Bloomberg addressed Kim's willingness to join the Winter Olympics as an apparent olive branch

and a gesture of reconciliation,.. but added that it could also put ties between Seoul

and Washington to the test.

The New York Times also reported that Kim's words are merely aimed at alleviating international

sanctions and brewing discord between South Korea and the U.S..

South Korea and the U.S. share one goal of denuclearizing Pyongyang,.. but have different

ideas on how to achieve it.

President Moon Jae-in wants talks and negotiations,.. while U.S. President Donald Trump continues

to emphasize sanctions and pressure.

Sit down with Lee Seong-hyon, Research fellow at Sejong Institute - Duration: 15:17.

And to tell us more about President Moon's New Year's message as well as.... what we

can expect from the Moon administration in the new year....

Lee Seong-hyon.... a research fellow and North Korea expert at the Sejong Institute.... joins

us in the studio today.

Thank you for being here with us.

Pleasure to be here.

1- Now looking at the president's New Year's message,...

I think we can say that the message focused largely on bringing about "real and tangible

changes" to people's lives.

With that in mind,... what are some of the things that we can expect from the government

this year that are different from last year?

2- And of course the message included economic accomplishments

from 2017... as well as the president's goals for economic growth for this year.

So how significant is the president's New Year's message in

this regard.

3- The president said that he will make improving people's livelihoods the top priority in state

affairs.

What are some related policies that may get a boost this year to help President Moon stand

true to his promise?

4- Ever since President Moon took office last year, we saw some big policy changes regarding

the labor sector and the economy.

So what changes can we expect in regards to the domestic economy?

5- And what about plans to root out corruption amid resistance from opposition parties?

6- President Moon also mentioned holding tripartite talks between labor, management and the government.

What can we expect on this front?

7- But what was interesting though is that the president didn't talk much about North

Korea in his message.

Why so?

8- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un also delivered his New Year's address on Monday.

During his speech,... he warned the U.S. that he has a "nuclear button" ready for use if

North Korea is threatened,... but offered an olive branch to us, saying that he was

"open to dialogue" with Seoul.

9- And surprisingly, South Korea's Presidential Office was quick to respond to this message,

saying that it welcomes Kim Jong-un's suggestion of sending a delegation to the Pyeongchang

Winter Olympics.

10- We're also seeing other heads of

state giving their New Year's messages.

And although we know that those messages are largely focused on

their *own people,... what are some of the things that we should keep

a

close eye on in regards to what we can expect from *other countries and

their diplomatic policies in the new year?

11- How does President Moon's New Year's message

compare to those of previous presidents?

Thank you

for your insight today.

It's

been

my pleasure.

oh no, twice

Twice sorry yea we like it. and we're in the same room, we did want it to be in the same room which is kind of

Funny yeah, we like it

it's nice and close to the beach we can go down to the fishing and then slamming walks down to the market every morning and

Gets fresh fruit and a nice sleep which is good

It's been great and there's a little reading section

Which is like going over there and you can just, I've already read one of the books which is great

We knew what we were coming to we had a bit of an idea because you know people on the street

You know you talk and so and Simon you know he's been in hotel management for years, and he sort of knew a lot

So, but they explained everything very very you know very clearly and there was also it was very

very accommodating and

We didn't have any problems with it at all and when we came back the second time and stayed here. We actually upgraded our membership

Yeah, that's all yeah, which again was very easy

And it was more for us looking towards having a family so we're gonna need bigger rooms and things like that

yeah, that was good and that was a

Point system which is even easier. Yes, so that was really good and

In fact the lady who upgrade us we became really good friends with them

Couple Dies On Same Day After Fulfilling Lifelong Wish - Duration: 3:29.

Couple Dies On Same Day After Fulfilling Lifelong Wish

Love is a truly remarkable thing.

Anyone who has experienced it knows its power.

There is no love story that isn't special, but there are some that truly take our breath

away.

Such is the case with Preble and Isabell Staver's story of love.

Preble and Isabell were in love for seven decades.

They met before the breakout of the Second World War after being introduced on a blind

date in Philadelphia.

Their romance blossomed immediately, but time wasn't on their side.

Isabell moved to Virginia to further her nursing career.

Then World War II broke out and Preble joined the Marines.

He fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima where he would earn a Bronze Star for his courage.

Like many women during that time, Isabell did her part to support the war effort.

She served as a Navy nurse in Bethesda, Maryland.

Despite their long separation, their love grew and strengthened.

Their daughter, Laurie Clinton, spoke about what an attractive figure her father made

as a young military man – one her mother absolutely couldn't resist:

"He was over six feet tall with fiery red hair, a very handsome figure, and she was

smitten," Laurie said.

"She called him Red…

They wrote letters to each other all the time, and Preble kept a photo of Isabell in his

wallet, wherever he went."

The couple reconnected after the war and were married in 1946.

They settled in Naples, Florida, where they raised five children together.

To support his family, Preble held down several jobs.

He ran a gas station, lobbied for Lockheed Martin, and started a local bank.

But his ambitions never stood in the way of the love he had for Isabell.

"They were blissful, especially when all of us kids were out of the house," Laurie

said.

"It's like their love blossomed anew; it was quite beautiful."

In 2007, though, cracks began to appear in their lives.

Isabell developed dementia and they soon moved into an assisted-living facility.

Then, last year, Preble suffered a tragic fall that required brain surgery.

Through all this, their love remained strong.

But as they journeyed through their final days together, the loving couple had one more

wish to fulfill: they wanted to take one final nap together and enter into their eternal

reward on the same day.

For the two brave veterans, amazing parents, and good people, their final wish was granted.

"They didn't say a single word to each other," Laurie recounted, remembering how

they curled up together under a quilt of valor.

"They just reached out for each other, their hands like magnets clasped together, and they

looked so peaceful.

"It was the catalyst of them being able to let go, I believe."

And let go they did.

They passed away eight days later, each in their rooms.

Isabell proceeded Preble in death by a mere fourteen hours.

"They had the type of true love that we all look for in this lifetime," Clinton

said.

"They married each other in sickness and in health, and they kept that vow until the

very end."

It sounds like a fairytale or a movie, but Preble and Isabell's love was true.

They accepted each other, loving the other as they were.

They stuck to their vows for life and had a connection many of us will never understand.

If only we all might be so lucky to find a love like theirs.
