Happy New Year!
Wait, say that again.
What?
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Today we're going to talk to you about New Year's resolutions.
That's coming up.
Today we're going to tell you some of our New Year's resolutions.
Which are things that we hope that we can accomplish this year.
And this is something that people...
Not everybody does but many people do.
And it's a way to set some goals for yourself
and things that you want to accomplish.
And this actually relates a lot to language learning
because one thing we tell our students all the time
is to set short-term goals for yourself.
Set some learning goals for yourself so you know what
you need to work on and try to accomplish so that you
can practice and improve your language skills.
So this lesson will be a good listening activity.
And we'll also put up some vocabulary words
and let you know the meaning, some words that you may not know.
So without further ado, let's talk about our New Year's resolutions.
My first New Year's resolution this year is to get in shape.
And this is more, you know, my goal to do some more exercise to get a little more fit.
Maybe I'm thinking about running a marathon later this year.
We'll see how that goes.
But to get outside, be a little more active, and just be healthier in general.
So I'd really like to get in shape this year.
So usually, many years ago, I used to have these long
lists of resolutions that I used to create for myself.
Things like be more organized and lose 20 pounds.
Would you complete all of them?
No. So that's the problem that I never did any of them
And it was frustrating, so a couple years ago I told myself one or two.
Just do one or two at most and then try to really accomplish those.
So this year I have two.
And my first one is to be more grateful.
And I think this is very important for me.
As the years go by I try to be grateful for the things I have in my life.
And not kind of keep wanting more.
So in order to do that, I have a little journal.
My little gratitude journal.
I know it's very small, but I can carry it in my purse.
And I can put it anywhere.
So from time to time, I'll open it and write things.
Or people that I'm grateful for in my life.
And I really want to do more of this this year because
I started this last year, and I only have one page.
So I really...it's a continuation for my whole life.
But I want to make sure that I really write in it this year.
It might not be every day, but every time I remember.
Really want to write in my gratitude journal.
Another resolution that I have is to learn more about cooking and nutrition.
And this also goes back to health.
Because I would like to have more home-cooked meals, and out eating out as much.
And try to eat a little healthier...more fruits more veggies.
Definitely, I need more veggies.
Yeah, you do.
So that's something that I think is really important for me.
And trying to do that throughout the year, I know that I'm
not going to just completely change all at once, but just...maybe a little at a time.
Again, it's all about...I think setting
short-term goals, and trying to realize those
So that's definitely something that I would like to do more of.
Have some more home-cooked meals and eat healthier.
My second resolution this year again...kind of ties into what Wes was saying.
For me, this is something that's continuous.
It's every year, but I just always want to improve.
But it's to take care of myself.
Take better care of myself.
That is to...you know, go to sleep earlier.
I am an early riser, so I always wake up early in the morning.
And sometimes I don't go to sleep as early as I'd like.
For me to get a full night's sleep.
So I'd like to make sure I do that.
Take care of myself with exercise.
I really enjoy doing yoga, so I want to focus on doing more of that.
And also with...even healthier eating.
And then just cooking and making...
Enjoying it. It's a hobby of mine.
I like to cook so...
I'd also like to do more meditation and more breathing exercises.
As an anxious person, it really helps calm me down.
I should do that too.
Yeah. It's very useful.
It helps kind of de-stress, and it's just really, really good for...
for your mind and for your body.
So, that's all part of my resolution to take better care of myself.
And I think it's a useful resolution for everyone.
You go to sleep now at like 9 o'clock.
No, at like 11pm.
You want to go to sleep at 7pm?
I want to go to bed at like 10pm.
A couple of New Year's resolutions that we have for interactive English is...
First, we'd like to continue the schedule that we've been
trying to maintain, and do two lessons a week.
At least two lessons a week, which can be pretty
challenging with a lot of other things going on in life.
But, we'd like to continue doing two lessons each week throughout the entire year.
So hopefully we'll be able to make that possible and
continue sharing a lot of different lessons with you guys.
And the other resolution that we are kind of hoping will happen this year is...
We'd like to expand our scope and our lessons.
So we'd like to have a webpage.
We'd like to do some courses and ebooks.
That we're putting together.
And we hope that we can finish and share those
with you, so that you can take advantage of
even more of our lessons and learn and improve.
And you can grow with us.
So hopefully we'll get that done as soon as possible.
We're working on it.
So these are some of our New Year's Resolutions.
Now, we would like to hear from all of you.
So in the comments, please tell us one of your New Year's Resolutions.
Tell us something that you would like to do or accomplish this year.
Or maybe something you want to change to improve your life.
So in the comments, let us know what one of your New Year's Resolutions is.
Yeah, it's...I always find it very helpful when I read other people's resolutions.
I find it inspiring.
Yeah, share with each other.
Yeah, so you can...you can kind of get some inspiration
from what you see in the comments.
Also, please remember to like and share this video
if you enjoy learning English with us.
And, as always, thanks so much for watching and we'll see you next time.
Bye.
