2017 Holden Astra Sedan Review | motoring.com.au - Duration: 3:04.

The Astra Sedan is back.

Holden has revived its once popular nameplate in Australia, essentially replacing the cruise

small car in its passenger line-up, joining the existing European built Astra Hatch, this

new five door carries some mighty expectation.

Priced from 21 990 drive-away; the Holden Sedan introduces a new level of pricing to

the Astra fold, coming in several thousand dollars cheaper that the equivalent Hatch.

But there are some fundamental changes, the Sedan is built in Korea instead of Europe

and it misses out on standard safety equipment, including automated emergency braking.

There are some other major differences underneath the skin, including a longer wheel base, a

revised rear axle configuration, a new steering and suspension settings.

While the Astra Sedan is quite a solid all-rounder on the road, around town it's quiet and refined

while on bumpy country roads it sucks up imperfections really quite nicely, while also isolating

occupants from wind noise and most of the road noise.

It's not classed leading in any way but it does all things really well.

Through the corners, yes there's a little bit more body roll than the Hatch, the steering

is less direct and this car's 1283 kilo curb weight is more pronounced, but for a sedan,

I think it really hits the intended mark.

One thing that hasn't changed between the Hatch and the Sedan is the engine; the 1.4

litre turbo-petrol produces a familiar 110 kilowatts and 240 Newton meters, sending drive

to the front wheels.

A 6-speed manual is offered in the base model, LS, with a 6-speed automatic doing duty in

the three other Astra Sedan grades, LS Plus, LT and LTZ.

The engine is certainly no power breaker but as a day-to-day power proposition it really

is quiet and refined, likewise, the 6-speed automatic transmission is precise and well

timed with its inputs.

It means the Astra Sedan is happy to turtle about town and offers a linear and useable

power curve.

Officially the 1.4 litre turbo-petrol can notch 100Ks an hour from rest in 8.9 seconds.

It will also return a claimed fuel average of 6.1 litres per 100Ks in automatic form.

One thing missing from the sedan is the option of a more powerful 1.6 litre turbo-petrol

that's found in the Hatch.

But the Sedan makes up for those points with a spacious 445 litre boot, big rear seat and

five-star safety.

There are some tell-tale omissions for this price including only one USB through the cabin

and the absence of rear air vents.

All-in-all, the new Sedan offering adds another dimension to Holden's Astra line up.

THE director and producer of Disney's 1994 critically acclaimed animated film The Lion King revealed in an interview that Mufasa and Scar are not brothers.

The movie's director Rob Minkoff and producer Don Hahn told Hello Giggles in an interview that the two lions are not brothers because that is not how a pride operates.

Mufasa, the king of Pride Lands, was killed by Scar in the movie so he could claim the title.

"The way lions operate in the wild … when the male lion gets old, another rogue lion comes and kills the head of the pride.

What that does is it causes the female lions to go into heat [to reproduce], and then the new younger lion kills the king and then he kills all the babies. Now he's the new lion that's running the pride.".

"There was always this thing about well, how do you have these two (male) lions?" Hahn said.

"Occasionally there are prides that do have two male lions, in an interesting dynamic because they're not equals (since they don't have the same parents). One lion will always kind of be off in the shadows.

We were trying to use those animal truths to underpin the story so we sort of figured Scar and Mufasa couldn't really be from the same gene pool.".

Simba and his uncle Scar. The movie does hint that Scar and Mufasa are not directly related as brothers.

During the movie, Scar told Mufasa "I'm from the shallow end of the gene pool," when Mufasa confronted Scar about his absence at Mufasa's son Simba's coronation.

It is not clear if the subject will be brought up in the forthcoming Lion King live-action remake that is slated to be released in July 2019.

To be extremely honest, it wouldn't be out of character for me to stutter at least once during recording, or have a voice crack, or just stop talking for a few seconds, but

It's annoying, right?

Right, so let's get on with this and get home.

As teenagers, we all want to be our own person, have our own styles, and just be us in general.

We have our groups, our interests, and things we want to try.

But what if we can't do all of what we want?

What if we can't all hang out in our groups, or have our styles because of one life changing event?

Wouldn't it be a bit unfair to not have freedom for any of that?

Maybe that life changing event causes you to lose your hair, and you really can't face the public because you know they will either have a humiliating remark,

or they just look at you with pity in their eyes.

It seems a bit embarrassing when you think about it.

Nobody looks at you the same.

Is there something wrong with you? Are you terminally ill?

Nobody would know until they got the answer from you.

So you lose all your hair --actually, maybe it wasn't all, but most of it.

It's still pretty embarassing and brings in unwanted attention.

You're walking alone with a cap on in public, trying to hide what has happened.

You get weird looks, or sympathetic ones, and you find it kind of hard to have the will to go out again.

That is, until your best friend shaves his head too in support.

Then when you two go out again together, nobody pays extra attention.

You two obviously did it as some weird best friends deal.

This is a problem not that uncommon.

Many people do not spare a group of people that have done something the same a second glance or thought,

and this is the exact reason something should change.

A very strong value for not only teens, but all humans, is to be treated as an equal.

To be treated with fairness and respect.

This is why I believe that we should all shave our heads from birth.

Yes, it will be a bit embarrassing at first, and yes, people will look weird together with little to no hair,

but that's the beauty of it.

We will all be weird together.

Once this occurs, the amount of strange looks will go down, whispers about a certain person they saw today will go down, as will the pity-filled looks;

leaving all of the negative connotations with a shaved head behind.

Now not every person shaves their head because they have to,

but effects of their choices are still the same for other people.

People are free to express themselves, and there's no reason to pity them, or laugh at them for it.

By shaving our hair, we cut it for a better reason:

equality in public appearance.

And if we do not allow ourselves the chance of fairness, fairness will not give us a chance in return.
