How to Use Colored Pencils With Watercolors | Cute Panda Doughnut | Easy Mini Mixed Media Tutorial - Duration: 2:42.
Hey guys!
In today's mini speed painting tutorial I'm going to illustrate a super cutie panda
donut with watercolor and colored pencils.
I've actually just recently got a small 24 pack of prismacolor pencils and I've
been happily experimenting with them by adding them to my watercolor and gouache works and
loving the results.
Colored pencils are great for outlines instead of ink because they are so subtle.
They are not erasable so I can do a sketch first and then use the colored pencils and
then easily erase my sketch, just like if I was working with normal ink to outline.
The lines also have a super subtle texture and I can control how dark they are easily
by varying the pressure.
You can also easily blend different colors together and as you can see I can easily use
watercolors on top of them, the darker the pencil marks, the more they resist, like a
crayon does, and leave the original color, but if you use the pencil lightly it makes
for a super soft look and the paint dries on top like it normally would.
I used watercolors like I always do, without giving it any thought.
When the watercolors were dry, I wanted a higher contrast with the outline so I went
around the piece and outlined it using different colors and by pressing down more I got darker
values.
You can easily use pencils on top of watercolors to add more value, but you can't make it
lighter with pencils, you'd have to use gouache for that.
You can also add a subtle gradient textures like I did here in the cheeks, just by varying
the pressure.
I used a gel pen like I always do to add highlights around the piece and little dots to make darker
areas pop and the piece more interesting.
But, the donut didn't feel as dimensional as I wanted, so instead of adding a second
layer of watercolor, I went back in with colored pencils and used them to shade in some shadows,
pressing down lightly for a subtle look.
The texture is so beautiful, especially since it contrasts with the smooth blending of the
watercolors.
My biggest tip and my favorite technique so far, is to use the colored pencils of various
colors to darken the outlines, various colors just to make it more interesting, and then
use a gel pen to outline it within.
This greatly increases the contrast and makes for a fun shiny effect of an outline.
I do this all around the piece and I'm done.
This cutie panda donut was so much fun to make because I combined the two mediums and
I encourage you use colored pencils next time you sit down to watercolor.
You can use pencils more subtly, to the point of them being invisible to add tiny details
or you can use them to add a lot of texture and color like I did here.
It's up to you how obvious you want them to be, but I encourage you to play with it
and find your favorite style of working with them.
All I know is that I'm going to be using colored pencils a lot more in my work from
now on.
Just to add little details and sometimes texture.

from the paw patrol there's trouble at Adventure Bay the Sea patroller goes
from land to sea and takes the pups on new underwater rescue mission yeah

Skye and chase in all of their sea patrol vehicle Wow look at all the cool
things hey it comes with Ryder and it looks like it holds two of the Sea
patrol vehicles and look up there oh man Oh
nice foamy Oh a look about you look magnificent it's an octopus Wow oh wow
this is so cool all again it it transforms from boat and land vehicle so
we can drive on the land this is so awesome I love the sea patroller oh Sea
patroller Sea Patrol it's just so cool it's a number 15 vehicles you oh and
look there's Ryders atv is is so awesome just awesome this is so awesome
this is so awesome oh wow I want to us got on the back oh man this is so cool
oh look at the SEA PATROLLER we're gonna be where are so exciting land there's rocky
so excited we got all the vehicles to go with this so we can have
lots and lots of fun with a sea patroller on our paw Patrol adventures yeah
anything we can hear nice that time oh boy oh boy oh boy this is so awesome I
can't wait to take this out of the packaging and unbox it can you Bobby
mommy's King whoa oh well Bobby we need your help come here next over hand
can we do an adventure Mr hands yes we can Bobby after we unbox it we'll
have a fun pretend playtime with the sea patroller

thing with roller it's so often looking cool - makes me want to do the paw
patrols and yeah well guys this is what you get with the sea patroller you get
all these cool things and it even comes with instructions on how to operate it
oh it's so cool well first off let me show you what it
can do cuz it is awesome it's a two in one that means it's a boat and it's a
vehicle well let's take it back down to the first I'll show you how all of this
works first off because of these two awesome looking life preservers and I'll
show you how these works in a second when you get to the boat and because of
the writers a TV and it's his jet ski a TV and some little bit colored a little
bit different from the other one - so that's kind of cool tyre soor - it's not
as nice is like a writer's a TV TV but it does come with to see
patrollers so I guess we can expect it the way it is and it also comes with its
little octopus remember the episode on the paw patrol to see patrol episode the
little baby octopus is missing and the big mama octopus goes around and tries
to find the baby octopus ends up destroying a bunch of stuff but it
really doesn't mean - well here's our little octopus right here and he gets
into so much trouble I'll - - we have writer and this fool
thing he sits on for the crane so he's kind of cool he's gonna scuba outfit
look at that writer in his scuba outfit whoa
so awesome writers like the coolest coolest dude in the world he's a ten
year old boy in these tech-savvy at that he's get this cool of a pup pad oh boy
we love that okay now let's get to the really hot time part that is a about
trial ah ah the super strollers got a lot of really cool features on it I mean
it really does awesome awesome awesome is the name not only does it go from a
boat and when you push it forward here it transform into a vehicle here that
locks in the plate so I can roll around and go on adventures you know to make
sure we take the anchor out when we do that we roll around and snag something
that would be bad wouldn't it writer yeah mr. hands okay so we've got all
this clueless on the inside - look at that when you put two of our sea patrol
vehicles in it we have two of them in here I'll grab ah
me me me me me friends okay I'll get you Jace meto me Phil can you - Marshall so
we've got our to see patrol pups here driven a long way aren't you let's fix
that and they can go in through stuff right
see that oh just got back up in here whoa there you go Marshall there you go
Jace and then we close it up and there a ray to go off on rescue missions
isn't that really cool Oh miss and also too on the very back back here on the
very back see that see that right there that is a landing pad and that's made
specifically for ya okay this pups gotta fly
get her seat patrol vehicle and she can sit all right yeah
and that really cool oh boy that's awesome awesome awesome awesome and not
only does it have these cool things out here we put a liner up here in the front
is Ryder just put them up here and let him sit down all right drive a steam
controller we get it is lighter be righter no one can see you yeah we can
see your writer but might reconsider in a front and it will kind of all wobbly
when it's on his wheels look at that wobbly you're like in a boat okay so
we've got a little button here on the side this little button right yeah way
to press it we get some really cool sound effects listen
ooh
awesome
that sounded like a radar oh that was like the coolest down today and there it
goes back to the window at West food it 32 another really cool thing is when you
press the button the lights come on in the front of the ski patroller
isn't that awesome and not only do we have the sound effects we've also got
this really cool life preserver launcher and that's what these are for
see we can put them in there like that now you snap in and we press the button
and let's see writer jumped out oh no missed your hands I can't swim please
help me please help me oh gee well writers down there so we
launched him a life preserver from the top watch here we go writer we're going
to save you so right I got his life preservers he
the writer is saved thanks mr. hands thanks for dimming that writer I
appreciate that okay no pity oh we did but we've got a life preserver and we
got two of them so we can launch them I guess I launch it again see and see it
whoa here's the other one oops almost dropped it
well and let's let the pups out yeah let it out mr. hands all right let's bring
this back and open this up for our puppies they're gonna be on the water
boom there you go chase see you go Marshall off to see rescues oh boy oh
boy this is so much fun also tooth because of this really cool
crane see it here I want to turn this around so you can see it
watch out sky oh you're about to fall out let me fix that miss your hands
thank you oh we've got this cool crane on this side I can go down and reach
things now we can also put it right here so that writer and stand on it it's got
little pegs you've got little pegs on the bottom as legs to speak to which are
really awesome I really like that Spin Master that way he'll stay in place as
we lift him up whoa there he goes and we're going to
put them in the boat oh and let him go or bring him over here to the side
because I want to show you guys the inside of the boat oh this is so awesome
we get we get other things on the side on this and you can see them on the sea
oh they're kind of hard to see but they're little little images on the side
like camera one and camera two and it's a little area down here where the paw
patrol pups can hang out and play with their vehicles that's so awesome
we can also pick up the rule octopuses oh we got to put you over on the other
side mr. octopus oh so we put him over there that's really cool
I love this playset it is awesome not only can we add our sea patrol vehicles
to this I wish we could put more of them in here than just two but you know it's
it's cool I like it it's awesome this has to be one of them
a toy Spin Master has made that we have done a toy review here on toy time TV
and I really like this because it goes right along with the show and also don't
forget the paw patrol see patrol vehicle is number 15
isn't that cool it's the 15th the vehicle and the paw patrol fleet and
skyline right up here oh oh yeah also too when you pull it forward I'm going
to show you this - you pull it forward that's when it pops up and you want to
make sure it's locked in place and all wobbly and it has this cool a hole in
the back back here and they take the pops out so that they don't go
everywhere open up see patroller oh they're going
to pop slow and you can put things in there see it now I think this will be an
excellent place for writers of vehicle if we can't fit in anywhere else and
also the anchor - so we can put those in there like that and make it back into a
boat like pressing back and pushing down and writers a TV is hidden away ready
for some adventures on land oh boy oh boy oh boy this is so exciting I really
really really like this sea patroller from Spin Master awesome so Bobby what
mr. Englund what do you think of the sea patroller
oh boy Bobby loves it he thinks this is an awesome awesome toy so Nick and you

Alright, so step three is. D'oh! You haven't seen Spider-Man homecoming? D'oh! You don't know what an easter egg
is? That means you're trying way too hard you idiot.
Top ten YouTubers don't need to know anything about their topic and in your case
you don't need to know anything about Spider-Man homecoming or easter eggs. All you gotta do is some good Ol research.
That's right, research. You probably think that is a long process, but you're in fact very very wrong. See with the internet
there's no need to really know anything about your topic. You remember the topic. We chose right?

I love this playset it is awesome not only can we add our sea patrol vehicles
to this I wish we could put more of them in here than just two but you know it's
