Youtube daily report w Aug 7 2017

Yo. Ooh, I'm looking fine.

Hey guys, it's Annika. Welcome to my "Channika."

I wear this sweatshirt in every video,

I haven't brushed my hair in a really long time,

and I smell like shit.

So, what else is new?

Today, I'm going to be doing

a really f-ing highly requested makeup tutorial.

I posted this picture on Instagram,

and everybody was asking me

how I did my fake freckles.

And to be honest, I was really feeling myself that night

-- that was last night --

so I was really feeling myself last night,

because, usually when I do fake freckles,

I look like trash.

But then . . . had this idea:

Yo. What if, instead of using

a f-ing hard as sh-- eyebrow pencil,

I used a liquid brown brush-tipped eyeliner?

And, girl? Yes!

This is something that I got

in my "Trying Korean Makeup" video.

But I didn't mention it,

because I didn't want to use f-ing brown eyeliner.

But this is the AprilSkin

No Smudge Eye Doll Brush Pen Liner

in the shade "Brown."

You can get this off of eBay.

You can get this a bunch of places on the Internet.

I got mine from earlypicker.com.

The website will be in the description.

But I'm pretty sure you could use the Kat Von D liner

in her brown shade.

It's just, these are a little bit less pigmented,

and that's why I like them.

So here is what it looks like

when you just do one line.

Right there.

And then, if you go on top of it a little bit more,

then it gets more pigmented.

So that's what I like about it.

But that's the last f-ing step.

There's a lot more f-ing preparation

than you would think, that went into that

f-ing tutorial.

So, let's get poppin.

I'm so f-ing hungry,

and all I've been eating are peaches.

I feel like every time I come onto my YouTube channel,

I have a new food that I can't stop eating.

First it was pesto f-ing pasta.

Now it's

memes.

I'm gonna take the e.l.f. Blemish Control Face Primer.

You want a pore-filling face primer,

so that the freckles don't sink into your pores.

I don't know.

You want to fill that sh-- up.

What a sexy f-ing beast.

Okay. So I don't know what foundation to use,

because the one that I was using last night

was not cruelty free.

But you essentially just want something

really light coverage,

but I don't buy foundations that are light coverage.

I guess I'm going to use the e.l.f. Oil-Free Foundation,

because this is the lightest coverage one that I have,

but it's still pretty full coverage.

I don't know.

I'm going to try and sheer it out

by applying it with a BeautyBlender.

Yeah, this works.

Oooh, some of my freckles are left over.

I'm gonna go put my hair up. I'll be right back.

I put my hair up.

Now we're gonna go on to concealer.

And, same goes with concealer.

You want to do something

a little bit more light coverage.

Essentially, the whole look of this

is that you're not wearing any makeup.

But girl, you're wearing a lot of f-ing makeup.

You could either use the LA Girl Pro Conceal,

or you could use the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer.

Again, all of my f-ing concealers are full coverage,

because I don't f-- with light coverage concealers.

I'm just going to do a little bit,

and then I'm gonna sheer it out

by applying it with a brush.

Okay. And then, of f-ing course,

you want to make sure that you've set it down.

Once again, I'm going to be using a light-looking powder.

I'm gonna be using

the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powder,

which, y'all know, I don't really like,

just because I feel like a lot doesn't come off.

Because I like to be a cakey-faced b--

But I'm looking for something really light today.

Okay. Now we're gonna be doing the fun part.

F-ing hate myself on a different level.

I'm gonna be taking the Anastasia DIPBROW.

I am in the shade "Medium Brown."

But, of course, you should use whatever shade

that you are.

And then you're just gonna start filling in your eyebrows.

I've started filling them in with the DIPBROW,

and I feel like they make them look less . . .

bad.

And less pube-like.

Y'all want an eyebrow routine,

hit me up in the comments below.

"I probably shouldn't say this,

But at times I get so scared

When I think about the previous

Relationship we shared

It was awesome but we lost it

It's not possible for me not to care

Now I'm standing in the rain

Nothing's ever gonna change until you hear,

my dear

The 7 things I hate about you

The 7 things I hate about you

Oh you

[mumbling]

You're vain, you're . . .

[more mumbling]

It takes me a really long time to fill in my eyebrows,

because I feel like this always happens.

I'm gonna turn this off,

and I'll be back once I'm done.

Why is it so orange?

My forehead is really small.

Don't you agree?

So I'm not gonna do jack sh-- on my eyelids.

Like, I'm not gonna do any eyeshadow.

But we're gonna go into the eyeliner.

So last night, when I was bored,

I was researching drama channels and sh--,

and I came across this girl.

And her name's simply_kenna,

and there's so much drama about her.

You can go check that out on your own time.

But I went onto her channel,

and I saw a makeup tutorial,

like, an everyday makeup tutorial that she did.

And she does this thing.

Like, I f-ing hate her.

I think that she's awful.

She did apologize, so I respect that.

But I saw this trick that she used

to make her eyes bigger,

where she lines her eye, but makes it go down,

and then she puts the false lash on top of that line.

And I thought that that was really clever.

So I decided to try that out,

and then that's what I did last night.

So I'm just gonna do that again,

and I'll show you what I mean.

I'm using the brown eyeliner.

So just like that.

You see, you're basically extending your lash line

in the shape that it would be.

It's gonna make your eye

look a little bit more droopy at first,

but once the eyelash is on, it will look better.

This one's a little bit too droopy, actually.

Now I'm going to be taking the Kiss 11 lashes,

and I'm going to be applying those

with the DUO black brush-on adhesive,

and I will be right back.

Okay. So, if you get what I mean,

I just like . . . I added it to the wing.

I should have probably used eyelashes

that I hadn't trimmed,

because there's a lot of extra space.

But it's okay.

I'm gonna be taking that same

Aprilskin Eye Doll Eyeliner,

and I'm going to start putting freckles on my face.

I feel like the main problem that people make

when they're adding fake freckles,

is they use something too hard.

So then it looks like dot, dot, dot.

They come in clusters, and some are darker than others.

Some are bigger than others.

So you need to not do a dot here, a dot here.

You need to do, like, one, two, three, four . . .

one, two, three, four . . .

one, two, three . . .

Clusters and spread them all around,

if you know what I mean.

What I like about using a liquid eyeliner,

as opposed to a pencil,

is that you don't have to press too hard,

so you can just go really fast.

You can just dot everything around,

if you know what I mean.

Also, if you have real freckles,

please don't come for me.

It's not like I'm replicating a skin disease.

I'm replicating freckles.

I'm flattering you.

I don't get why people get so defensive. They're like,

"You don't know what it's like to live with freckles."

What the f--?

It's like . . . I'm not culturally appropriating you.

Freckles are not a culture.

It's a compliment.

And you kind of want to make them go up your cheek,

if you know what I'm saying.

So, there I have that side.

I haven't done my nose yet,

but I did the side of my nose.

So that's what it's gonna look like.

Like, I just feel like the liquid pen

gives it a much more natural finish.

Uhh.

The lash glue just got stuck to my eyelid. Okay.

Honestly, that's how I do my fake freckles.

I feel like they kind of looked better last night,

but I don't have my lower lash mascara.

I don't have anything else on.

This is just the beginning, b--s. Okay?

For highlight, I have two options.

What I used last night

was the Pixi Santorini Sunset Glow-y Powder,

which was their collaboration with Aspynovard.

I love this one.

I hate their London Lustre one,

but this one is so glowy, I f-ing love it.

But if you don't have that . . .

Oh my god.

I don't know if they still sell it,

so I don't want to use it.

Like, I feel bad using it.

A good duplicate would be

the Dulce de Leche Triple Crown Baked Shadow

by J.Cat Beauty.

It's not a color dupe, I don't think.

It's more of, like . . .

Oh actually, it's pretty similar in color.

I'm gonna be using the Pixi one

but, you know.

When I'm highlighting the nose,

I'm very strategic.

And I use the Anastasia a23 brush,

but I just use the tip. Okay?

So I highlight this part of my nose,

the really front part. Like, this right here.

You could even use your finger if you wanted.

And then, you just want to start highlight . . .

like, almost contouring, but with highlight.

So instead of contouring the side,

you're highlighting the very edge,

the bridge of your nose,

if I'm making any sense.

Carefully down the bridge of the nose.

And then, when you're highlighting your face,

just do how you normally would.

For a lower lash mascara, you want

to do something super duper dramatic,

so I recommend

the Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara.

It looks like this.

Also, I just realized that this video isn't really funny.

I'm getting into beauty guru mode right now,

because I'm obsessed with this look,

and I'm starting to feel myself.

It's coming on. I can feel it.

She's coming. So . . .

Last, but not least,

you just need to apply your favorite lip gloss.

I'm going to be using

the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss.

I just really like this.

This is in the shade "Candy Queen."

I like this because it plumps your lips

and it tastes like chocolate.

But, yeah. This is the finished look.

Let me put my hair down.

I know that some people are going to feel

like their culture is being oppressed.

But you were never oppressed.

Freckled people were never oppressed.

So chill. Calm your t--s.

Don't get your panties in a bunch.

Yeah. I hope that you guys enjoyed this tutorial.

Let me know if it helped you,

if you learned anything from it.

Please comment, rate, subscribe, and . . .

keep on

freckling.

Building the Background: Two Minute Tips with David Bergman - Duration: 2:23.

Hey I'm photographer David Bergman. and

this is Two Minute Tips for Adoramatv.

Today I'm going to talk about how I like

to build up an image one piece at a time.

I very often I find myself using multiple

flashes to make a portrait. I can place

speed lights almost anywhere

individually like small sections of the

image. This allows me to create depth and

texture on my subject or in the

background. I'll use an image from last

year's cover shoot for the Belikin

calendar that I did here in Belize to

show how I put that into practice. After

I had my camera positioned and determined

the image I wanted to make, I use a low

ISO, and close down my aperture just

enough to kill the ambient light

completely. Without my flashes it's a

completely dark frame now I could begin

to add light only where I wanted. In this

case I started by setting up one speed

light off-camera right to light the

jukebox, and move the light around until

I got it exactly how I wanted it. Then I

turned off that flash and had someone

stand in for the model. Setup a hair

light, high above and behind him so I

could separate him from the background.

Once the hair light was set I added back

in the jukebox light, to see how those

two lights looked put together. By the way

one of the joys of using

radio-controlled speed lights, is that I

can turn the lights on and off and

change their intensity right from the

camera. I don't need to physically get to

that hair light every time I want to

make a change. Once I confirm those two

lights looks good together, I turn them

off and repeated this process over and

over. Setting up the next light alone and

then trying them all together to build

up the image

slowly but surely

In the end I added in

the light on my subject for that final

piece of the puzzle

once that one was set

I could just shoot away knowing that

all of my lights are doing exactly what I want.

That allowed me to concentrate on

getting the best out of my subject

without having to worry about what my

lights were doing. So break down your own

images one piece at a time, and you won't

have to think about any of the tech

stuff. Even if you have 3, 5, 10 or

more flashes firing every-time.

Interview with Allyson Gualter - Duration: 1:32.

I've always loved sport projects. I've been working in integral education programme since

2012

In 2015, Elisa and Vice came to our school to introduce us

a new sport project: cricket, that it wasn't a local sport.

So we decided to put cricket in our integral education program.

We started with a small group of students and today in 2017, we have almost hundred children

in our program and playing cricket.

They watch youtube videos, not just football or basquet videos, today they watch

cricket videos and they say: Sir! I want to be a cricket player!

They want to participate in training sessions

because they want to be part of the cricket team

Some of players in the cricket team were my students, and even they won individuals awards

so I think this is a motivation for other partners whose don't practice cricket or if they are starting

to practice it.

I'm with them as much as I can

I think that it's good to talk about sport role in people's life.

and also I think that it's very good for health. It's important.

and Cricket is an innovation.

So, Come on! Join us! Cricket São Sebastião DF

in the shape that it would be.

It's gonna make your eye

look a little bit more droopy at first,

but once the eyelash is on, it will look better.

This one's a little bit too droopy, actually.

Now I'm going to be taking the Kiss 11 lashes,

and I'm going to be applying those

with the DUO black brush-on adhesive,

and I will be right back.

Okay. So, if you get what I mean,

I just like . . . I added it to the wing.

I should have probably used eyelashes

that I hadn't trimmed,

because there's a lot of extra space.

But it's okay.

I'm gonna be taking that same

Aprilskin Eye Doll Eyeliner,

and I'm going to start putting freckles on my face.

I feel like the main problem that people make

when they're adding fake freckles,

is they use something too hard.

So then it looks like dot, dot, dot.

They come in clusters, and some are darker than others.

Some are bigger than others.

So you need to not do a dot here, a dot here.

You need to do, like, one, two, three, four . . .

one, two, three, four . . .

one, two, three . . .

Clusters and spread them all around,

if you know what I mean.

What I like about using a liquid eyeliner,

as opposed to a pencil,

is that you don't have to press too hard,

so you can just go really fast.

You can just dot everything around,

if you know what I mean.

Also, if you have real freckles,

please don't come for me.

It's not like I'm replicating a skin disease.

I'm replicating freckles.

I'm flattering you.

I don't get why people get so defensive. They're like,

"You don't know what it's like to live with freckles."

What the f--?

It's like . . . I'm not culturally appropriating you.

Freckles are not a culture.

It's a compliment.

And you kind of want to make them go up your cheek,

if you know what I'm saying.

So, there I have that side.

I haven't done my nose yet,

but I did the side of my nose.

So that's what it's gonna look like.

Like, I just feel like the liquid pen

gives it a much more natural finish.

Uhh.

The lash glue just got stuck to my eyelid. Okay.

Honestly, that's how I do my fake freckles.

I feel like they kind of looked better last night,

but I don't have my lower lash mascara.

I don't have anything else on.

This is just the beginning, b--s. Okay?

For highlight, I have two options.

What I used last night

was the Pixi Santorini Sunset Glow-y Powder,

which was their collaboration with Aspynovard.

I love this one.

I hate their London Lustre one,

but this one is so glowy, I f-ing love it.

But if you don't have that . . .

Oh my god.

I don't know if they still sell it,

so I don't want to use it.

Like, I feel bad using it.

A good duplicate would be

the Dulce de Leche Triple Crown Baked Shadow

by J.Cat Beauty.

It's not a color dupe, I don't think.

It's more of, like . . .

Oh actually, it's pretty similar in color.

I'm gonna be using the Pixi one

but, you know.

When I'm highlighting the nose,

I'm very strategic.

And I use the Anastasia a23 brush,

but I just use the tip. Okay?

So I highlight this part of my nose,

the really front part. Like, this right here.

You could even use your finger if you wanted.

And then, you just want to start highlight . . .

like, almost contouring, but with highlight.

So instead of contouring the side,

you're highlighting the very edge,

the bridge of your nose,

if I'm making any sense.

Carefully down the bridge of the nose.

And then, when you're highlighting your face,

just do how you normally would.

For a lower lash mascara, you want

to do something super duper dramatic,

so I recommend

the Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara.

It looks like this.

Also, I just realized that this video isn't really funny.

I'm getting into beauty guru mode right now,

because I'm obsessed with this look,

and I'm starting to feel myself.

It's coming on. I can feel it.

She's coming. So . . .

Last, but not least,

you just need to apply your favorite lip gloss.

I'm going to be using

the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss.

I just really like this.

This is in the shade "Candy Queen."

I like this because it plumps your lips

and it tastes like chocolate.

But, yeah. This is the finished look.

Let me put my hair down.

I know that some people are going to feel

like their culture is being oppressed.

But you were never oppressed.

Freckled people were never oppressed.

So chill. Calm your t--s.

Don't get your panties in a bunch.

Yeah. I hope that you guys enjoyed this tutorial.

Let me know if it helped you,

if you learned anything from it.

Please comment, rate, subscribe, and . . .

keep on

freckling.

Building the Background: Two Minute Tips with David Bergman - Duration: 2:23.

Hey I'm photographer David Bergman. and

this is Two Minute Tips for Adoramatv.

Today I'm going to talk about how I like

to build up an image one piece at a time.

I very often I find myself using multiple

flashes to make a portrait. I can place

speed lights almost anywhere

individually like small sections of the

image. This allows me to create depth and

texture on my subject or in the

background. I'll use an image from last

year's cover shoot for the Belikin

calendar that I did here in Belize to

show how I put that into practice. After

I had my camera positioned and determined

the image I wanted to make, I use a low

ISO, and close down my aperture just

enough to kill the ambient light

completely. Without my flashes it's a

completely dark frame now I could begin

to add light only where I wanted. In this

case I started by setting up one speed

light off-camera right to light the

jukebox, and move the light around until

I got it exactly how I wanted it. Then I

turned off that flash and had someone

stand in for the model. Setup a hair

light, high above and behind him so I

could separate him from the background.

Once the hair light was set I added back

in the jukebox light, to see how those

two lights looked put together. By the way

one of the joys of using

radio-controlled speed lights, is that I

can turn the lights on and off and

change their intensity right from the

camera. I don't need to physically get to

that hair light every time I want to

make a change. Once I confirm those two

lights looks good together, I turn them

off and repeated this process over and

over. Setting up the next light alone and

then trying them all together to build

up the image

slowly but surely

In the end I added in

the light on my subject for that final

piece of the puzzle

once that one was set

I could just shoot away knowing that

all of my lights are doing exactly what I want.

That allowed me to concentrate on

getting the best out of my subject

without having to worry about what my

lights were doing. So break down your own

images one piece at a time, and you won't

have to think about any of the tech

stuff. Even if you have 3, 5, 10 or

more flashes firing every-time.

Motavation Monday: Happiness Inspires - Duration: 5:40.

Hello my lovelies. Kellie here, welcome to the only day that I might actually be

somewhat serious. Mondays, because on Mondays I feel like we need a little

extra push, we need a little extra motivation right? So, I hope you are back

from a rejuvenating, refreshing weekend and today we're going to do our a

affirmations. So our affirmations today are focused on you being happy so you can

help other people be happy, stay tuned

Hey there, okay so normally you guys know I'm dishing up a little nonsense a

little bit of shenanigans and the whole nine yards right, but I actually do take

a little bit of time where I am somewhat serious and I focus on the things that I

want for my life and that helps me to visualize those things and to take

action right? So I promised you guys that every Monday that I would share some of

the things that I do, some of the things that I tell myself and that you can tell

yourself, because sometimes it's not so much that we don't mean to tell

ourselves good things it's just that we really don't know what we should say,

right? So I'm going to give you a few things that you should say, first I'm

going to ask you a few questions so you can have things in your mind that you're

going to be focused on, but then I also want to just give you a few things to

say to yourself. And if you are interested in being here every Monday,

please make sure that you subscribe. If you enjoy what I'm sharing make sure you

comment and there is a link below if you want to where I will give you all of the

affirmations that go with today's message, but we're only going to go over

a few so I don't keep you guys for too long and so that's pretty much it and I

will yeah feel weird because I don't know what to say now

all right so let's just jump right in let me get some groovin' music hold

tight and I'll be right back. So as you're going through these

visualizations I want you to kind of ask yourself a few questions going in or

coming out or during,

whatever the case may be.

Is how do you feel when your friends and family are happy? And what are you

contributing to their happiness? And do you feel guilty when you're too happy

and they're not? So I want you to kind of focus on those things

how does what you're feeling influence what they're feeling, their

moods, their happiness and this way you can have something that you're working

toward. So if your mood influences them, you definitely want to make sure you all

smile baby! All right so let's jump right in. My happiness inspires others to be

happy. That's your first affirmation and really

think about that, your happiness inspires others to be happy. Think of situations

with your children, I know even with my kids being adults, that if I'm not happy

they're not happy. So think about that and remember that your happiness

inspires others to be happy. I am free of guilt when I focus on my happiness.

Because you are the person you wake up with every single morning, you are the

person whose eyes you look into, whose thoughts are between these ears and

whose heart is beating. So you are the first priority, so your happiness should

not cause you to feel guilty. My happiness has a positive effect on

everyone around me. How many times have you been able to turn a situation around

that might have been stressful or tension because you were able to bring

a little joy into the day? So your happiness does indeed affect those that

are around you. Positive feelings are infectious, they're contagious, they move

about. They are like the herpes of happiness so if you are sharing that, it

will spread and you just never know how one little smile can actually permeate

through a lot of other peoples day. My day is higher and brighter when I spend

it with happy people. Come on now you know that when you are out with your

girlfriends in your or your family and there's laughter and

joy, that even if you left the house thinking huh I don't feel like doing

this today! That it brings your spirits up. So if you enjoyed these few

affirmations there are many many more as far as your happiness is concerned and

there are a few more questions also so follow the link below where I will give

you the free download of the affirmations that are all about your

happiness and gives you some prompts on things that you need to say and tell

yourself and enter and so you can you know be happy we should all be happy

it's enough nonsense going on the world with people like this. I don't think they

really liked that last face but I just wanted to make it, but anyway so the

seriousness is over we will be back to nonsense of shenanigans tomorrow so make

sure that you have subscribed, make sure that you're getting this love baby! So

sign up and get the link below make sure you're commenting and let me know what you

think of the content because it's definitely different for me but it's

more of my personality than almost everything else that I've done and guess

what I'm happy I'll see you guys soon ciao!

Jim Rohn: How to Think And Attract Wealth (jim rohn motivation) - Duration: 26:39.

[Music]

five sources of inspiration here's the

first one deciding if you just make a

decision it can be sometimes the day

that starts you on a brand new journey

now some decisions are incidental and

some are small and some you know are

part of a working day but sometimes

decision-making can be one of the most

important days of your life

may be a decision you postponed and

postponed and now you understand the

penalty of postponing that decision

you've got to do something and finally

you come to the conclusion today is the

day I now decide and whether you decide

on a new direction whether you decide on

a refinement in philosophy whether you

decide to act when before you haven't

acted you decide on a on a series of

things that you're going to do you

decide deciding can be such an

incredibly important a very exciting

inspirational day also deciding

sometimes starts the process of lifting

our self-esteem sometimes when you look

back on it the day that you decided was

just about as exciting as the day when

you finally accomplished the project

that when you finally made the decision

you finally got the monkey off your back

as we say in English you finally know

got through whatever barriers kept you

from making that decision and finally

you made a decision and now it seems

like the sky is blue and the air is

clear and your mind is ready and you

know the adrenaline starts to flow

things start to happen to you from that

moment of decision so that can be an

incredible source of inspiration now if

you don't follow through it's not going

to last all that long if you decide and

then you know postpone and you decide

and but you don't still don't get to it

for a week or a month or a year you know

soon all that energy and that source of

inspiration is all dissipated so

deciding is

inspiring but but not for that long but

once you decide it can be a very

powerful day but now of course you now

you must follow through but if there's

some things you've been postponing some

decisions you have just you know haven't

gotten to I would ask you to just you

know take out your journal and just go

through you know what have I been

postponing it's not going to be better

for my health it's not going to be

better for my future it's not going to

enhance my finances maybe a problem

needs to be solved I got to decide when

I'm going to do it and then how I'm

going to proceed I need to get to it I

promise you if you'll go through some of

that list and start making those

decisions your inspiration will start to

flow and those could be very critically

important exciting days indecision is

the thief of opportunity indecision

means the door is still closed

indecision means the opportunity waits

indecision means what could be is

postponed or may never be you know that

those are all the penalties of

indecision and sometimes we can't make a

snap judgment we can't decide

immediately on something so important

but after a while after a while we must

understand sometimes they have a penalty

of putting off our decision-making so

one source of inspiration deciding

here's the next one planning now that

you've decided and you've started you

start making plans it's in incredible

what can happen as a source of

inspiration when finally what's in your

head what's in your imagination now

finally starts to take shape on paper

when I first heard about network

marketing I was 25 years old and I heard

some of the testimonials and I heard

that people have gotten rich and I've

heard that it's changed people's lives

and I've heard that you could start with

nothing and become something but let me

tell you what was exciting when I

finally made the decision yes I was

going to be part of the industry yes I

was going to make it part of my

marketing future what was really

exciting was when I sat down and started

making plans

I started committing imagination and

belief to paper I started writing it

down

I started started as we often do drawing

those circles you know what if I had

five what if I had ten and then when I

had a concept of what that could bring

for me then I said how can I reach the

first five how can I reach the first 10

what could I do

starting to make those plans I'm telling

you I remember those days as if they

were yesterday they were so exciting I

had a concept of what I wanted I had a

dream of what could happen for me if it

could happen for others maybe it could

happen for me but when I started putting

it on paper and started making the plans

that was an incredible source of

inspiration for me because the plan

seemed to now start making it real that

what I had thought about what I dreamed

about now I'm actually getting to it by

making a plan however you can make all

the plans in the world and it is a

source of inspiration for only so long

and you can make one plan and then you

can make another plan and you can make

some plans today and the next day you

can make some more plans and the next

day you can make some more plans and it

is a very exciting source of inspiration

but only for a while

I'm sure we would all agree that making

plans that inspiration wouldn't last for

a week now that inspiration now must

drive you to do number three the first

source of inspiration is deciding second

source of inspiration is planning and

now here's a big source of inspiration

beginning getting started actually

turning thought and the notes on the

paper the plans actually now committing

it to action getting started and

beginning can be an incredible source of

inspiration guess what you can say when

you begin a change in your diet

when you begin to take the Herbalife

products guess what you can say I'm on a

new track I have carved out for myself a

new beginning I'm on my way to the most

incredible health I will never be the

same again

I'm leaving the old undisciplined part

of me I'm leaving that behind I'm a new

person I'm taking my first shake I'm

swallowing the first tablets I made my

first you know walk around the block

that I thought about for slow long and

never did I finally did it

today I've started I have begun that is

an incredible source of inspiration and

that is to start to begin you cannot

believe what can happen to your

self-esteem and many of you have already

experienced it I'm just asking you to

begin something new in all the areas of

your life maybe you've always thought

about benevolence and you just haven't

gotten started or you haven't made the

plans or you haven't made the decision

I'm asking you to start taking that

stuff now that's in your head that

imagination which is very powerful and

it's a great source of inspiration in

itself but then I'm asking you then to

decide

use that inspiration then I'm asking you

to make plans begin to make plans use

that inspiration and then if you take

that first step it can be the first step

of an incredible journey and when Mark

had his first meeting when mark

recruited his first distributor when

Mark got his first customer his

grandmother using the product when Mark

got that first few yeses from people and

he started the process as simple as it

was you know from the trunk of his car

you know as crude as the literature

wasn't the beginning it was a start and

so beginning can be an incredible source

of inspiration and beginning can be many

things a beginning a new commitment to

learning you say I'm going to have a

library second to none and I bought the

first

book of my new library today I'm going

to be surrounded by information and

inspiration of the cassette tapes and

the videos and the books I'm going to

have a library second to none I've

thought about it there wouldn't it be

wonderful and you know I've started

making plans you know I provided some

space in my room for my expanded library

but here's what's exciting I got the

first book today I've gotten started

this is just the first of many many

books this is the first of a whole flow

of information for me this is the first

time if you want to learn a new skill

and you sign up for a class let's say

you want to learn accounting or

something in you you sign up for the

class and you take the first class you

get started you'd thought about it you

made some plans for it you made some

time for it but there's nothing like

sitting there in the class with the pin

in your hand and the pad ready to take

notes Here I am I'm starting on a new

journey of learning remember that

beginning is a fantastic source of

inspiration planning is an incredible

source of inspiration deciding is an

unbelievable source of inspiration but

now beginning only laughs so long if you

begin that first week and then you don't

continue yes you'll be inspired by

deciding and planning and beginning but

all of that now will start to fade away

if you don't do number four one of the

great sources of inspiration is

progressing once you've gotten started

now you proceed you progress now you go

to class the second week you go to class

the third week but it's not only

progressing in terms of time it's

progressing in terms of what you're

learning progressing in terms of getting

the information that you hadn't

discovered before

now you're excited about that progress

one of the greatest sources of

inspiration is progress

when you start jogging around the block

and you know at first it's a little

difficult and then it's two blocks and

then you go around four or five times

but then you notice notice you're

breathing easier you notice when you go

up a flight of stairs you're not out of

breath and it suddenly occurs to you in

a fairly short period of time you're

making progress with these incredible

Herbalife products when people first

start taking the products and they've

got some health challenges and they

discipline themselves they do it the

first day in the second day in the first

week in the second week but it isn't

long if they need some to lose some

weight you know a pound or two four or

five pounds that is so incredibly

exciting you don't have to wait for

fifty pounds you don't have to wait for

a hundred pounds you know that first one

that first two or three making progress

having more oxygen in your lungs

you can tell within a short period of

time I'm making progress on my my oxygen

supply I'm making progress on losing

weight then when you start making

progress in your business your ability

to make contacts your ability to talk to

people being so shy you decided one day

hey I've had enough with being too shy

I've made the decision on making some

plans I'm going to begin talking to

people and you start and at first it's

difficult but then very quickly and it

doesn't take a year I'm telling you it

doesn't take a month it doesn't take a

week I promise you even though you're a

little bit shy if you'll just start to

introduce yourself if you'll just start

to talk to someone you've never talked

to before just get started I promise you

in a fairly short period of time because

two things are happening one is deciding

to overcome a liability but also

understanding that with this new skill

now with this new ability and with my

progress no telling what I can

accomplish because if I can get over the

fear of talking to one I can get over

the fear of talking to number ten number

fifty number 100 and by the time I get

to number fifty and number 100

my self-confidence is going to be so

strong my self-esteem is going to be so

high my new skill is going to show such

incredible progress that I will never

look back on the old ways so what an

incredible source of inspiration

progressing I jotted this down happiness

unhappiness is simply the lack of

progress toward a preset goal if you're

not making progress see that's when

unhappiness sets in but here's where

happiness begins making progressive

progress you don't have to arrive all at

once you don't have to have it

immediately but as long as you're making

progress as long as progress is part of

your experience now it is a fantastic

source of inspiration now here's the

next source of inspiration and that is

achieving when you finally have arrived

at that goal that you set I want to have

this much experience and be able to do

this by 30 days from now 60 days from

now six months from now

and finally that six months passes and

there you are finally the time passes

and you have it finally the time passes

and the skill is now beginning to be

polished in it is so unique and

effective achieving is an incredible

source of inspiration but here's what we

notice when you do achieve with it

whatever you set out in the beginning

where you decided and planned and you

got started and you progressed when you

finally achieve that achievement is not

much more inspiration than when you

decided it's a different kind of

inspiration it's a different kind of

feeling to having arrived knowing that

you've got many other objectives to

accomplish many other places you want to

go things you want to do the person you

want to become but at least I've got

this one you know I've done this one I

remember with way back when I wanted to

do the training and I wanted to do

teaching I would like to do seminars

because I saw people that had

such a magnificent effect on their

audience they used the language to such

an unbelievable degree I could tell that

something was mixed from their heart and

their soul and their mind and their

vocabulary and this mixture of stuff

together presented to someone's ears to

hear and a heart maybe to believe and a

mind to understand that the most

incredible magic could occur I thought

to myself if I could possibly do that it

would be the greatest feeling in the

world later I've come to have one more

goal which I just probably won't ever

attain and that is to be a singer to not

only speak the poetry to not only speak

the language but to sing it accompanied

by music in my opinion that's probably

the most awesome impact you can have on

any person or any group or any audience

is the ability to communicate a message

or a poem or lyrics or what you feel or

what you know to communicate it by music

and by song to me it is the most

incredible impact that one human can

have on another or have on an audience

but next to that is to be able to feel

strong about some ideas and have the

ability to put it into words to put it

into language drive it by emotion have

it mixed with experience you know and

all the stuff that goes on in your head

and your heart and your soul and deliver

it to the best of your ability even as

I'm doing today to an unseen audience

but since I can visualize the audience

and where it goes from here and where it

may go beyond where it reaches even at

the moment that inspires me to do my

best to come up with ideas that will be

meaningful and helpful to me this is the

most incredible experience you know the

song I will never get there because you

know I don't have that particular

powerful talent but next to it I'm

telling you you can have next to that

the

incredible effect on someone else

without a doubt you can stir someone's

imagination you can reach that

achievement you can be there what you've

wished for and what you've dreamed for

if you will draw from the source of

deciding that inspiration and the

inspiration of planning the inspiration

of beginning and the inspiration of

progressing then you will know this

incredible inspiration of achieving of

finally getting there finally being the

person finally accomplishing the goal

and here's what's exciting about

Herbalife we get to practice all of

these every day all of this is working

every day simultaneously and that

simultaneous because some of you right

now are achieving and deciding and

perhaps you have achieved and decided

the same day because what you have

achieved you have decided I'm going to

multiply it now by two by three by five

so it's amazing how you can plan and

decide begin and decide on something

else you can be making progress in one

area and deciding on on starting another

all of this can happen especially in our

social and our business life combined

with our spiritual life and herbal life

all of this can be happening at the same

time you know it's so amazing to go to

Salinas California Salinas is called the

lettuce capital of the world

the soil is so rich it's unbelievable

not far from there is Castroville and

Castroville is called the artichoke

capital of the world and within a few

miles of there is a place called Gilroy

and Gilroy is called the garlic capital

of the world

they now have a garlic festival every

year now over 300 thousand people come

from all over to Gilroy California to

get in on the Garlic Festival

not far from there is a place called

Watsonville and Watsonville California

is known as the strawberry capital of

the world

all within a within a very short you you

can drive to all of these little towns

within a very short period of time it

only it doesn't take half a day and yet

these are the capitals of the world in

terms of productivity and the reason is

because the soil is so unusual that in

these areas you can grow two three crops

a year now as you know most of the world

is restricted to you know one crop a

year spring summer harvest and then

winter but in this area it's

unbelievable when you drive through to

see them harvesting in one field and

planting in the field right next to it

harvesting and planting on the same day

that they're harvesting they're planting

it's just it's just a phenomenal place

but you know that's true of herbalife

you can harvest and plant the same day

you can achieve and decide in a single

day you can be making progress in one

area and having achieved something in

another area all mixed in together all

happen happening simultaneously and at

the same time I wanted to call that to

your attention so that you would

appreciate it and how our lives are so

dramatically affected by the business we

do you know and our social life and our

religious life and our life of the

community but especially the opportunity

that Herbalife offers for all of this to

be working simultaneously deciding

planning beginning progressing achieving

here's what's exciting about Herbalife

we get inspiration by inspiring others

this is a two-way instantaneous

experience as we inspire we become

inspired

and now you it's difficult to fathom it

you know it's just our finite mind but

this thing called spirituality and human

emotion is so unbelievable that the two

things can happen simultaneously at the

same time as we inspire we become

inspired we are being taught by teaching

as we teach we learn sometimes we learn

what not to say because you know it

didn't go over very well and we just

make a mental note you know I'm going to

dispense with that I thought it was a

clever idea

turned out that there really wasn't but

we learn and we learn simultaneously as

we teach it's incredible we are becoming

wealthy ourselves by creating wealth as

we create wealth we become wealthy as we

give it out it comes to us as we

dispense it through our facilities of

speech language spirit emotion eyes

handshake contact as we do that from

incredible sources now it comes flowing

into our life and sometimes it flows

simultaneously we are becoming wealthy

by creating wealth you can't have a much

more exciting experience than that next

I wrote down we are changing by creating

change by helping others to change we

change ourselves and sometimes we decide

to make some changes the very same day

we're trying to help someone to change

for the better we're trying to help them

change their mind we're trying to help

them change their position we're trying

to help them change their plan refine it

so that it works better and as we do

that we suddenly find ourselves changing

now making mental notes as we go as I am

now teaching as I'm helping someone to

change by the way I'm going to start

making the changes it is a powerful

experience we can have with all of this

happening simultaneously at the same

time next we progress by creating

progress

we create progress for others we get

them to grow and by helping them to grow

we grow by helping them to succeed we

succeed that's what happens to Marcuse

immediately he started helping people

with their health immediately he started

helping people with their financial

future and as he helped them his came to

him he didn't even have to concentrate

on what he was getting you know he

didn't have to zero in on you know what

was how much was that for me today he

could forget that all he had to do was

invest in those early distributors

invest his time invest his energy

investors ideas invest his emotion and

it and it just started coming as he gave

it so he received it that is the awesome

experience not just a verbal life I

understand this applies to all of our

other social personal religious gifts

and experiences but but it works so well

in what we're doing in Herbalife next we

become happy by creating happiness when

we put a new pin on someone and it

creates this incredible joy for them

that they finally arrived they did the

meetings they did the classes they did

all the stuff now they've arrived we

create this happiness for them by

putting the pin on giving them a hug and

giving them our congratulations we

create happiness for them but it

simultaneously raises our level of

happiness to an incredible degree we

learn to see by creating sight in others

if we can help them to see we can see we

develop our vision by inspiring vision

we develop sight for someone we develop

a future for someone and our future

automatically then starts to develop and

starts to grow and starts to expand as

we develop vision for others sources of

inspiration thought you would enjoy

you

Hello and welcome to WPBeginner. In this video you'll learn a quick step that you

can do to fix your 404 errors on your WordPress website. This is the same

technique several of our readers have used to get their sites back online

and by the end of this video you'll learn what to do to fix your 404 errors.

If you're able to access your admin dashboard and you can go to your site

but all of your pages are looking like this then don't worry we can get you up

and running. This usually happens if something called your htaccess file has

gotten deleted or if something went wrong with it.

So to fix that all you need to do is head back over to your dashboard area, go

over to our Settings, Permalinks, scroll down and you don't have to do anything

you simply want to click Save Changes and that should be enough to handle the

issue. Then you can go back over to your site, click around, click on any of the

posts and you see everything's back in order. Now if simply saving your

permalink settings didn't work for you then you may actually need to go in

and manually update the htaccess file so what we'll do is, we'll need to go in and

we'll copy this information. This is what we'll want to copy for htaccess file

I'll highlight this right click copy, you'll want to choose an FTP client to connect to

When is water safe to drink? - Mia Nacamulli - Duration: 5:24.

Take a look at the water in this glass.

Refreshing, hydrating, and invaluable to your survival.

Before you take a sip, though,

how do you know that the water inside is free from disease-causing organisms

and pollutants?

One out of ten people in the world can't actually be sure

that their water is clean and safe to drink.

Why is that?

Inadequate sanitation,

poor protection of drinking water sources,

and improper hygiene

often lead to sewage and feces-contaminated water

That's the ideal breeding ground for dangerous bacteria,

viruses,

and parasites.

And the effects of these pathogens are staggering.

Diarrheal disease from unsafe water is one of the leading causes of death

around the world for children under five.

And according to a U.N. report from 2010,

microbial water-borne illnesses killed more people per year than war.

Proper treatment processes, though, can address these threats.

They usually have three parts:

sedimentation,

filtration,

and disinfection.

Once water has been collected in a treatment facility,

it's ready for cleaning.

The first step, sedimentation, just takes time.

The water sits undisturbed, allowing heavier particles to sink to the bottom.

Often, though, particles are just too small

to be removed by sedimentation alone

and need to be filtered.

Gravity pulls the water downward through layers of sand

that catch leftover particles in their pores,

prepping the water for its final treatment,

a dose of disinfectant.

Chemicals, primarily forms of chlorine and ozone,

are mixed in to kill off any pathogens

and to disinfect pipes and storage systems.

Chlorine is highly effective in destroying water's living organisms,

but its use remains government-regulated

because it has potentially harmful chemical byproducts.

And if an imbalance of chlorine occurs during the disinfection process,

it can trigger other chemical reactions.

For example, levels of chlorine byproducts,

like trihalomethanes, could skyrocket, leading to pipe corrosion

and the release of iron, copper, and lead into drinking water.

Water contamination from these and other sources

including leaching,

chemical spills,

and runoffs,

has been linked to long-term health effects,

like cancer,

cardiovascular and neurological diseases,

and miscarriage.

Unfortunately, analyzing the exact risks

of chemically contaminated water is difficult.

So while it's clear that disinfectants make us safer

by removing disease-causing pathogens,

experts have yet to determine the full scope

of how the chemical cocktail in our drinking water

really impacts human health.

So how can you tell whether the water you have access to,

whether from a tap or otherwise,

is drinkable?

Firstly, too much turbidity,

trace organic compounds,

or high-density heavy metals like arsenic, chromium, or lead,

mean that the water is unsuitable for consumption.

A lot of contaminants, like lead or arsenic,

won't be obvious without tests,

but some clues, like cloudiness,

brown or yellow coloration,

a foul odor,

or an excessive chlorine smell

can indicate the need to investigate further.

Water testing kits can go a step further

and confirm the presence of many different contaminants and chemicals.

With many types of contamination,

there are ways of treating water where it's used instead of close to its source.

Point-of-use treatment has actually been around for thousands of years.

Ancient Egyptians boiled away many organic contaminants with the sun's heat.

And in Ancient Greece, Hippocrates designed a bag

that trapped bad tasting sediments from water.

Today, point-of-use processes usually involve ionization

to lower mineral content.

They also use adsorption filtration,

where a porous material called activated carbon

strains the water to remove contaminants and chemical byproducts.

While it's not always an effective long-term solution,

point-of-use treatment is portable, easy to install, and adaptable.

And in regions where large-scale systems are unavailable,

or where water has been contaminated further along its journey,

these systems can mean the difference between life and death.

Clean water remains a precious and often scarce commodity.

There are nearly 800 million of us who still don't have regular access to it.

The good news is that continued developments in water treatment,

both on a large and small scale,

can alleviate a lot of unsafe conditions.

Implementing proper systems where they're needed

and paying careful attention to the ones already in place

will fulfill one of the most basic of our human needs.

Life Lessons We Can Learn from Richard Branson! - Duration: 13:38.

Here are 7 things we can all learn from Richard Branson!

7 – Minimize your weakness

Born in 1950, Branson enjoyed a happy childhood, with parents who considered their children

equals and who often set challenges to make them self-reliant.

Branson's parents were supportive of his endeavors from an early age.

Branson's mother was an entrepreneur herself, and one of her most successful ventures was

building and selling wooden tissue boxes and wastepaper bins.

However, as unbelievable as it may sound, but is the case with plenty of self-made entrepreneurs,

Branson had poor academic performance.

He attended Stowe School, an independent school in Buckinghamshire until the age of sixteen.

While attending school, many of Branson's teachers considered him to be a bit slow and

lazy.

He was, in fact, dyslexic and admits that by age 8 he still couldn't read and was

hopeless in math and sciences.

As British schools worship the sportsman, Branson realized that he needed to channel

his energy into doing well on the field.

Before Branson left school, headmaster Robert Drayson said to him, 'You'll either go

to prison or become a millionaire'.

You know what?

That headmaster was onto something.

Instead of feeling sorry for himself and seeing himself like one big failure, Branson recognized

his weaknesses but also recognized his strengths – his ability to make things happen.

6 – Always be bold

Branson expressed his desire to become an entrepreneur at a young age.

At the age of sixteen, his first business venture was a magazine called Student.

Later on, Branson started his record business from an old manor where he ran the magazine.

Whenever Branson saw a need for something in the market, he asked, why shouldn't he

do it?

Branson advertised popular records in his magazine, and the new business was an overnight

success.

Trading under the name "Virgin", Branson sold records for considerably less than the traditional

record stores.

Branson once said, "There is no point in starting your own business unless you do it out of

a sense of frustration."

The name "Virgin" was suggested by one of Branson's early employees because they were

all new at business.

Another example of his boldness is how he entered the airline industry.

Branson's first successful entry into the airline industry was during a trip to Puerto

Rico.

He formed Virgin Atlantic Airways in 1984, after his flight was cancelled.

He decided to charter his own plane the rest of the way and offer a ride to the rest of

the stranded passengers for a fee of $39 in order to cover the cost.

After that, he received a proposal to establish a transatlantic service to compete with British

Airways and he couldn't resist the opportunity.

Against the better judgment of his advisers, he called Boeing in Seattle and negotiated

to lease a 747 for a year, 'just to see' if the whole idea would work.

Virgin Atlantic was soon a reality, although it almost never got off the ground.

On the inaugural flight, a flock of birds flew into one of the uninsured engines, ruining

it at a cost of 600,000 pounds!

This brought the company over its credit line, and it came close to being bankrupt.

Only an emergency recall of cash from Virgin's overseas operations got everything through.

5 – Do the opposite

Earning enough money from his record store, Branson launched the record label Virgin Records

with Nik Powell and bought a country estate north of Oxford, where he decided to install

a residential recording studio, The Manor Studio.

The first act Virgin signed was an unusual choice.

A young musician called Mike Oldfield had spent months perfecting a recording that had

no vocals and a lot of bells and other unusual instruments.

This was a bizarre first choice for what was intended as a rock music label, but it paid

off.

Oldfield's album Tubular Bells was one of the biggest selling records of the 1970s,

and helped to bankroll Virgin's early years in the business.

Virgin later signed controversial bands, such as the Sex Pistols, a band many other companies

were reluctant to sign.

However, Branson saw opportunities where others could see only risks with the band.

Branson was willing to go against convention and do the complete opposite of what the trend

was.

Virgin Records would go on to sign other artists including the Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel,

UB40, Steve Winwood, Paula Abdul, Culture Club, Phil Collins, and The Human League.

By the early 80s, Virgin had become an unconventional big label to contend with, because of Branson's

willingness to step outside the box with artists many contemporary labels were afraid to sign.

4 – Nothing is ever too big Necker Island is a 74-acre island in the British

Virgin Islands that's entirely owned by Sir Richard Branson.

The whole island operates like a resort and can accommodate up to 34 guests.

When Branson bought the island, it was uninhabited.

He purchased the island at the age of 28, just six years after starting Virgin Group.

The story behind the sale completely shows Branson's attitude in life.

Richard Branson first became aware of the British Virgin Islands in 1978.

He had actually never heard of the 'Virgin Islands', had no idea where they were located,

or knew that the islands are actually called the British Virgin Islands.

He had just been trying to impress a girl he liked, they were still in the early days

of Virgin Records, and Branson by no means had the cash to buy an island.

Luckily for Branson, the realtor didn't know this and offered him an all expenses

paid trip to see the Islands.

Branson agreed to go on one condition, only if he could bring a guest.

Seriously, I love the balls on this guy!

Anyways, they were given a luxury villa and went around the islands by helicopter.

The final island he saw was Necker Island, and after climbing the hill and being stunned

by the view and wildlife, he decided there was no way he COULDN'T purchase the island.

However, Branson had no money to buy the island.

But he figured he had nothing to lose, and he made an offer with an amount the thought

he could come up with from the bank.

After making a lowball bid of $100,000 for the $6 million island, the owner said no and

Branson actually had to find his way off the island!

But, he was in luck.

After a year, nobody else had made an offer on Necker Island.

This time, the owner of the Island was desperate to sell.

Virgin Records was in a much better position than it had been a year before, so Branson

quickly agreed to a purchase price of $180,000 – the only condition was that Branson would

need to build a resort on the Island within four years.

The rest is history.

3 – Get inspiration from others Branson has stated in a number of interviews

that he has been much influenced by non-fiction books.

Branson frequently cites "Long Walk to Freedom," Nelson Mandela's autobiography, as one of

the most influential books he has read.

Mandela wasn't just a personal inspiration to Branson, he was a friend as well.

One of the best lessons from Mandela that guide and inspire Branson is letting your

vision guide you, instead of your fear.

In his own book, one of the most interesting parts is the soul-searching that Branson did

when he turned 40.

Branson decided to put much of his free time into philanthropy.

A great example of Branson's philanthropy is that of The Elders, an international non-governmental

organization of public figures, peace activists, and human rights advocates.

Richard Branson, musician and human rights activist Peter Gabriel, and Nelson Mandela,

initiated the group.

They describe themselves as "independent global leaders working together for peace and human

rights".

Obviously because of his interest in humanitarian and ecological issues, Branson also lists

Al Gore's best-selling book, An Inconvenient Truth, and The Revenge of Gaia by James Lovelock

among his favorites.

2 – Don't forget to have fun The other thing that Branson knows very well

how to do other than just business is fun.

Branson will be the first to admit he didn't go into his first business to make money,

but more as something fun to do.

Even nowadays, Branson's main criterion for entering a new market or industry is that

it be 'fun' and exciting.

For example, 'Virgin Galactic' is on track to be the first company to offer commercial

passenger flights into space.

This enterprise fulfils Branson's business criterion of only going into fields that are

fun and exciting, yet where obviously there's also money to be made.

Branson also has a number of achievements that have nothing to do with business and

are related to his various efforts to break world hot air ballooning and ocean powerboat

records.

Branson says that things like that add another dimension to his existence and make him feel

alive.

Branson is also known for his preference of casual clothing both at home and the workplace.

He has a distinct dislike of ties and there's been his lifelong campaign to quote "say

bye to the tie."

He often carries a pair of scissors with him at all times, ready to cut off a tie of anyone

at his company.

What's even funnier is the fact, that he even owns a pillow on Necker Island completely

made up of some of the ties he's cut!

According to Branson, most people in business dress the same and that contributes to them

acting the same.

Wearing a tie restricts new ideas and innovative thoughts.

Although I don't have the same hate for ties, what I can agree on is the fact that

business people need to embrace change.

1 – Do it right

Branson's march to riches did begin with a somewhat less benign and fun-loving version

of failure: a youthful foray into tax fraud, in which he was caught red-handed.

Though his chain of record shops was growing, it was actually losing money.

In the spring of 1971, Virgin was losing money as a discount music retailer.

Its record shop on London's Oxford Street was popular and its mail-order business was

growing, but thanks in part to its rock-bottom prices, the company was burning cash and digging

itself deeply into debt.

Branson accidentally found a solution to the problems that would almost fulfil the other

part of his headmaster's prophecy.

The scheme was simple.

Virgin would avoid paying purchase taxes on its merchandise by pretending to export albums

that it actually sold in England.

In Britain at the time, music retailers paid a heavy 33 percent tax on records they planned

to sell domestically.

But the tax didn't apply to vinyl destined for abroad.

While attempting to drive a large shipment to Belgium, Branson discovered that he could

stop at customs in Dover, get his export paperwork stamped, then bring the cargo back to sell

at home, where he could pocket the tax savings.

He figured that after a few such profitable trips Virgin would be debt-free.

However, after three trips of taking records across the English Channel to imaginary buyers,

his activities were discovered by Customs.

To escape jail he had to pay back three times the amount not paid in taxes.

Under tremendous pressure, he somehow met the payments from store earnings, but the

experience burned him, and at the age of 21, he resolved to never do anything approaching

illegality again.

Branson learned at that moment, if you're gonna do something, do

it right.

Here's what's next!

Worst Game Graphics Cards - Matrox Mystique 220 - Duration: 32:46.

Hello again to all retrolovers!

In this 2nd episode of Worst Gaming Cards we are going to take a look at Matrox's

first 2 products targeted towards the gaming market.

These are the Matrox Mystique, released in 1996 and the Matrox Mystique 220, which was

released a year later in 1997.

Both of these cards are usually recommended for use as 2D cards alongside a Voodoo 1 or

Voodoo 2 cards.

Uh, ehm that doesn't really sound promising, does it?

But first some background information.

Matrox is a Canadian company based in Montreal and was founded in 1976.

Their first product was a video adapter for minicomputers.

They were soon contracted by the US Army and later Wall Street, which changed the focus

of the company towards the High-End and Professional Markets.

Throughout the 80's and early 90's, Matrox was creating various professional 2D, multiscreen

and video editing adapters based on 3rd party graphics chips.

Because of the very high price of these cards, which cost thousands of dollars upon release,

and the few surviving cards in public, there's not a whole lot of info on them online.

The usage of 3rd party chips was abandoned as a strategy in 1993 with the release of

Matrox's first inhouse, 64bit, highend chipset which was used for the Matrox Impression and

Matrox Impression Pro video cards.

Both the dual chip Matrox Impression and triple chip Impression Pro were expensive products

targeting CAD users, with prices between 999 and 1999 US dollars.

They were quickly replaced within the same year by the more integrated and cheaper as

a result Ultima and Ultima Plus video cards, with prices reaching the 999 dollar mark.

The pin compatible Impression Plus followed suit in 1994 with some basic 3D features including

Gouraud Shading support and a decreased price of 898 dollars.

Next up, in 1995, was the Matrox Millennium with a then exotic, up to 8MB of faster WRAM,

which stands for Window Ram Memory, at a maximum price of 948 dollars.

And finally, in 1996, Matrox's first card with texturing support came to the market,

the Matrox Mystique.

It was limited to 4MB of cheaper SGRAM memory with prices ending at 259 dollars.

Cards could also be upgraded with a video recording and decoding module or a

TV Tuner module.

Using an updated core from the Mystique and targeted towards Business users, the Matrox

Millennium II was released in the following year.

Using the more expensive WRAM, prices hovered at 399 dollars for the 8MB version.

In August 1997, the new updated version of the Mystique, dubbed the Mystique 220 was

announced.

It was basically the same chip with a higher clocked core and RAMDAC allowing higher resolutions

and refresh rates.

Matrox presented the Mystique 220 as a card with fast, high quality 3D acceleration and

advanced 2D features and performance.

While 2D Performance was great, the 3D acceleration certainly wasn't up to "high quality" standards.

The company demonstrated the cards performance against 6 other competitors, with benchmark

results for 15 games uploaded on their website.

But, by what appears to be a um, mistake, they forgot to include any tests using the

3Dfx Voodoo Graphics chipset.

The time has come to fix this.

Unfortunately, the original Mystique is not compatible with our recording device and is

causing video stream dropouts.

So, we'll be using the faster Mystique 220 for video footage with a core clocked at 66MHz

and 4MB of SGRAM Memory at 99MHz.

The original Mystique was clocked at 50MHz for the core and 75MHz memory.

Results will be shown from both cards.

The cards will be compared to a Diamond Monster 3D using the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics chipset

with 4MB of memory clocked at 50MHz.

In games with texture bugs, the Voodoo 1 will be replaced by an STB Velocity 128 using the

Nvidia Riva 128 chip with 4MB of memory clocked at 100MHz.

The Mystique cards have support for Direct3D and Matrox's own API called MSI, which stands

for Matrox Simple Interface.

MSI was unfortunately only supported in 12 games, so we'll be using Direct3D accelerated

versions instead for all games tested.

Like in the previous episode, we once again start with some synthetic benchmarks.

Final Reality shows only 3 supported 3D features.

That's even worse than the S3 ViRGE!

Worst of all is the missing Bilinear Filtering support.

The Mystique was one of the few cards not to support this basic feature.

Bilinear Filtering smooths pixel edges on textures and creates the typical, expected

look of 3D Accelerated games.

Without it, games tend to look software rendered.

Unfortunately, sound is also affected with heavy slowdown and corruption.

Image quality suffers the most in the city scene.

3DMark 99 produces unbelievably high scores, even higher than the Voodoo1 and Riva 128!

The explanation for this is easy - The Mystique is cheating.

In both tests, all textures are missing, not a single one of them is rendered.

Tomb Raider 2 runs with a good framerate, but the non-filtered textures don't look

that great.

Forsaken has some serious issues with audio and the explosion effects look better in

Software Rendering.

Carmageddon 2 runs with a very low framerate and really cool looking 80's style smoke effects.

There's no official wrapper for GLQuake, so we'll be using one made by Techland for

their game called Crime Cities.

Sadly, almost all textures are missing, but the game is playable in low resolutions such

as 320x240.

Turok's visual quality suffers a lot because of missing texture filtering, but at least

the game is relatively fast.

Croc has audio issues and some not so great looking shadows.

Incoming is fast, but loses all of its colorful explosion effect magic.

Also, the helicopter rotor blades just disappeared!

Half-Life is another victim of missing textures and buggy audio.

Wipeout would be playable, if it weren't for the garbled audio ruining it along with

the not so good looking explosions.

Expendable suffers a lot due to the missing Bilinear Filtering.

Aliens versus Predator looks almost playable, despite the funny looking smoke, but good

first impressions are ruined by the badly rendered flares.

Finally, here comes the greatest challenge for every 1st gen 3D card.

Will it run Unreal?

Well, it looks like the game is running in D3D mode, but it's successfully decelerated

and doesn't look like its developers intended it to for sure.

Playing the game using the good-looking software mode is a better idea here, with playable

FPS thanks to our strong Pentium III CPU.

But then again, isn't that the case with pretty much all of the games?

Before we move on to the conclusion, we have to warn you about one important driver feature

named Bus Mastering.

Both Mystique models support this and it does increase the FPS.

This was so important that Matrox integrated a driver check that will waste your time on

every Windows boot, until you decide to enable it.

This can be done in the Advanced Menu under the Settings Tab.

Sadly, this feature not only increases FPS, but instability as well and on our testing

board every 3D application freezed immediately or after just a few seconds.

Tests with another "modern board" equipped with a VIA KT133A chipset provided similar

results.

So, if your Mystique is mysteriously freezing in every game, you have to disable Bus Mastering

or keep looking for another more period-correct motherboard, something along the lines of

an i430TX or similar Socket 7 board.

What can we say about the Mystique cards?

They are some of the fastest 1st gen 3D cards, but still not good enough to beat the mighty

Voodoo 1.

Old games are playable and granted that they use few effects, they don't look that bad.

Perhaps some people will love the un-filtered look which is achieved by the Mystique's

lack of bilinear filtering.

2D image quality is great, so they are really great choices for use in combination with

Voodoo 1 or Voodoo 2 cards.

Unfortunately, the missing hardware features greatly degrade the look of more modern games

and some might produce audio issues as well.

OpenGL is not supported and Matrox's own MSI API was only supported in 12 titles.

Bus Mastering might improve performance, however this is not guaranteed to work with your setup

and might require tinkering.

We award the Mystique 3 stars out of 10, mostly thanks to its performance.

After all, it's better to have a fast and ugly Mystique rather than a very slow and

ugly ViRGE...

Thanks for watching and see you next time with another bad gaming card.

You may now enjoy the demo from 3DMark 99, or at least those few parts which the Mystique

was able to render properly.

There's also a video capture on a smaller window of the Voodoo1 running the same demo

for reference.
