what you don't know about Caleb from the Bible coming up next
welcome to Wednesday's earth crystal I'm crystal Sparks I'm so glad that you are
watching hey today we're gonna be talking about Caleb from the Bible I
know you probably have heard about him but I think what I'm gonna share with
you today is gonna make you see him completely different so hey if you're
new to my channel every week on Wednesday I put out a new video and each
video has this one purpose is to help grow your faith and to help equip you to
accomplish your dreams and your goals okay so if you've been in church you
probably have heard people talk about Caleb and I'll just say that I always
hear people say you know be like Caleb and want to take your mountain and at
your old age and I've always like yeah yeah yeah well I'm reading through
Joshua the other day and I'll just say like God is showing me so much good
stuff out of the book of Joshua in fact I mentioned a little bit of it in last
week's video but I just want to expound on it that here caleb is okay to give
you some context Caleb is one of the spies that go into the Promised Land and
so he spies out the promised land Moses sends him in and he sees that the
Promised Land is good and he comes back with a good report but we know the story
the others didn't have as good of a report and so they talked to people and
to worry and into fear they told him hey there's giants in the land and we were
as grasshoppers in our own sight and so we were in theirs and you don't have a
it goes through and it tells us that because of that that people begin to
complain and so their problem became bigger than our God come on that's the
way it still happens today and so they talked himself out of the promise so God
had given them the promised land had told them that they could do it that
they would overcome but they let the bigness of the problem talk them out of
what God had promised how many times do we do that in our own life like we begin
to measure can God do it because if it's a little problem we we're easy to
believe but when the problem seems big we begin to see ourselves as small and
so we begin to negotiate and live in a place permanent that God
only meant to be temporary we begin to talk ourselves out of the
promise so the Bible tells us that for 40 years they wandered in the wilderness
unable to go in and take the promised land the Lord declared that a whole
generation was going to have to die off and so here caleb is and Joshua the only
two people remaining out of all the millions that had begun in the
wilderness so here they are and they go in and we we know the story about
Jericho they march around the walls and they see the walls come down and the
next few chapters always see is one victory after another God begins to just
give them more and more land as they begin to bravely fight for all that
God's promised after 40 years of waiting I'm pretty sure they were pretty excited
to do it and then you come to chapter 11 and the Bible tells us that they fought
one battle for five years Joshua and Caleb and in their men fought one battle
for five years you know this made me think about how many times in our own
life we get a promise from God and we begin to boldly step into it and all of
a sudden it seems like victories are happened so fast and then all of a
sudden what used to be seems so easy now becomes difficult you know I remember
when I was a new believer and oh my goodness like it seemed like every day I
prayed and God began to answer my prayer but the more mature I've become in my
Christian walk it seems like sometimes the longer it takes to get an answered
prayer and I think the reason for that is is that God knows that in the
beginning we need those quick successes those things that happen really fast and
the longer that we serve him he is assuming that we have the maturity to
believe him in the long term that we don't need to see a quick miracle like
we used to and so here Joshua and Caleb are the Bible says that they fought for
five years and not a single city made peace with them during that time now
I'll just say that five years is a long time to fight for just one piece of the
territory that I promise well as you read on they have
a great victory there and then the Lord tells Joshua in Chapter 13 don't worry
you've grown old there's more land to take but go ahead and give the people
their inheritance in other words he's saying there's more on the horizon but
let's go ahead and rest and tell everybody they can have their portion of
the Promised Land and Joshua chapter 14 here he is and he says 40 years old was
I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh to scout out the
land and I brought him a report as it was in my heart but my brethren who went
up with me made the people's hearts melt yet I wholly followed after the Lord my
God and Moses swore on that day surely the land on which your feet have walked
shall be an inheritance to you and your children's children always because you
have wholly followed after the Lord my god and then it says in verse 10 and now
behold the Lord has kept me alive and as he said these 45 years since the Lord
spoke this word to Moses while the Israelites wondered and he goes on to
say that he was going to go forth and get all that God has promised him you
know I think that's so interesting because from the time that God first
spoke it - absolutely now has been 45 years and here's the thing is that God
gave him an option to compromise God gave it him an option to just go ahead
and settle in this place it's a safe place I mean it's good enough but yet
Caleb said I'm not gonna stop until I see everything that God has promised you
know I think about in our own lives how many times that God puts a big promise a
big dream on the inside of our hearts but it will just be real honest when it
doesn't happen and just a few short months we start to get really
discouraged and I think about this and Caleb he went 45 years and it says that
he wholly followed after the Lord you know sure I'm sure
he absolutely had every reason to doubt he had every reason to begin to
compromise but here he is even at his old age he's still trusting still
believing God you know the Bible goes on to tell us there in Joshua chapter 14
that Caleb did go up and he got all that God had promised him you know I think
there's something to be said of us when we begin to press on to begin to keep
taking steps of faith even when we could compromise because it will just be real
honest after five years of constant battle you're not really feeling like
going into another battle but Caleb knew this I didn't come this far to quit now
I didn't come this far to stop this short and I want to declare over you in
your life that I want you to begin to believe for everything God promised
maybe some of you here you you begin to compromise you begin to say well it's
okay that I don't have a job that I love it's okay that my marriage isn't fully
restored it's okay that all my kids aren't serving god I want you to begin
to believe again I want you to begin to remember the promise that God said cuz
Joshua said you know what I'm not satisfied I see everything that God said
because he knew that the moment God said that he would do it it was his
permission to fully take everything he had said and I want to say the same is
true for you the moment God put the dream in your heart that was his
permission for you to begin to go in and accomplish it quit waiting for
everything to line up because sometimes it means that it's gonna be a battle
it's gonna be a fight sometimes I think we assume that with God if he promised
it everything's just gonna begin to unfold but the opposite is true I think
sometimes it's like Caleb you just came out of a five year battle and now you've
got another battle some of you have just come out of a five year Hard difficulty
hard circumstance and the Lord's calling you can you believe me firm or can you
believe me for all that he's promised because the truth is so many times I
think we stopped short of the full promise that God has because the truth
is we just get tired the Bible tells us in Galatians don't grow weary in
well-doing for in due season
you will reap if you faint not see there's some promises in the Bible that
are happen irregardless of what we do and there's other promises that are
connected to our willingness to apprehend them and I love that scripture
in Galatians but the thing that determines its fulfillment is your
action it's saying God I trust you you know I'm sure Joshua and all those years
in Caleb and all those years they had many opportunities to compromise I mean
goodness even God told him hey you're old in years go ahead and just take it
easy but he said no God I'm not gonna be satisfied until I see everything that
you have for me everything that you promised you know I think that's the way
I want to live my life I've got some really big dreams in my heart and
sometimes I have to remind myself they even though I've seen some great
victories this is not the fulfillment of all that God's promised I walk into our
office space that we meet here for our church and every time I walk in I say
god this isn't the fulfillment of all that you promised I know you have so
much more you have a paid-for building waiting for us you have a big nice
Worship Center waiting for us and I'm not gonna stop believing till I see
everything that you have for us I even remember I used to walk into my home and
it was just a little tiny home our first house only cost us 42,000 dollars and I
remember walking into that home with a dream for the home that I live in now
and every time I'd walk in I declare this is not the fulfillment of all God
has for us didn't mean I wasn't thankful for where I was but I was being like
Caleb god I'm gonna holy father after you I'm gonna wholly trust your word and
whether it takes six months six years or 60 years I'm gonna find myself in this
believing you for everything I want to be the type of person that when I stand
before God at the end of my life say god I believed you until the very end how
about you are you wavering in your faith or you like Caleb I'm ready to take on
everything that God has for me hey thank you so much for watching I hope this
