Dear Rikki, I'm a huge fan of your channel
and I love your videos.
I was wondering about what to do
if my teachers don't listen to my requests.
I have sonophobia, the fear of loud noises.
And I'm partially blind, so I need glasses.
I tell my teachers that they need to be wary
about the volume, and that I need
to be put into the front so I can see,
but they do the exact opposite.
Do you have any advice?

I appreciate that very, very much.
Okay, so here's where I'm a little confused.
I don't know if phobias fall under any
ADA, sort of, thing so, lock my doors.
If it was me, I know that I would
like for my teachers to try to be
as considerate as possible,
if I were to have sonophobia.
My question is, are they purposely
ignoring what their volume is like?
Or is it just, kind of, an accident thing?
Because I know some people can't really
control how loud they are.
So that was, kind of, a tough question, because I...
Let's move on to, the, you are partially blind, okay.
So that is something that would fall under ADA,
if I'm not mistaken.
At least in some sort of way.
So, if you are being put in the back,
I would, if it was me, honestly,
I would just sit in the front.
I would just say, "I do not care, Mr. Frank.
"I'm going to sit at the front
"because I need to, in order to see properly,
I need to sit in the front.
"You want me to do my work.
"I cannot do my work, if I am not in the front,
"so I know what's going on."
Do you have assigned seating?
If you don't, then I would just move to the front.
I think all in all, if you requested it,
how many times?
How many?
If you told your teachers only once
and then, they kind of forgot that, tell them again.
But if this is something, which,
I'm sure you've done it multiple times.
So if they're still not trying to cooperate
with you, so that way you could both try
to come up with a solution,
I would take it to a higher up.
I would take it to your principal, really, cause...
I mean when everything else fails,
when your teachers don't listen to you,
take it up with the principal
and see what happens.
Because the principal is their boss, I think.
Is that how that works?
Or is there's something even higher
in the chain of education?
I'm sorry I can't really say much on the phobia part.
Because I'm not really knowledgeable
in the phobia side of things.
But as far as you know, being partially blind,
you need to sit in the front,
in order to see everything.
And get your education.
So sit in the front.

I'm Abbey Gibb, your personal holistic nutritionist.
And welcome to another episode of our Saturday Strategies here on FitLifeTV.
I'm really excited to partner with them and this is another tired girl talk.
In today's talk, we are discussing the best foods to help you burn that fat, lose some weight,
and then most importantly, how to keep it off long-term.
These are my tried-and-true.
I personally eat them every single week,
and they've helped me to keep my weight off from the bean and cheese burrito days of my old days till now.
I love them for a couple of reasons.
There's two main things here.
You're gonna be like, "duh Abbey, that's obvious!"
But just keep in mind that in order to keep your weight off,
you need to stay fuller longer so that you don't eat so much.
And then you want to burn that food that you did eat faster, you want to speed up that metabolism.
Some of the key ways that you can do that are going to be with fiber and fat and then a little bit of protein.
So let's talk first about my favorite sources for fiber because we always want to do multitasking here.
I know you're gonna ask, Abs, again, kale?
Yes! Kale and broccoli!
I love kale for a couple of reasons.
Number one, it has a ton of calcium.
More calcium than milk? That's more iron than beef. I know, there you go.
And then broccoli has this great thing called folate.
And we need folate because it helps with cell regeneration.
So as we're trying to flush our system and keep our body lean, mean and green
you're going to need to move those cells as fast as possible. Broccoli helps with that.
Another great thing is that you're gonna want to keep your immune system boosting and firing at all times.
So you're going to want to make something like an immune boosting smoothie.
that you can have every single week.
So that's what this gorgeous thing is right here.
And we use things like kale, papaya, which has great digestive enzymes,
you can throw broccoli in if you want to,
some banana, almond milk and then coconut oil, which gets us into the good fats,
so we had the fiber and I want the fats.
So I love coconut oil because it has this thing called medium chain triglycerides, MCT.
Here's a tiny bit of science for you.
I always try to get just a little bit of Bill Knight - the Science Guy okay?
So back in the day, the farmers, they had all these cows.
They're trying to beef them up before they sent them to slaughter.
So they fed them a bunch of coconut oil and they couldn't figure out why the cows were getting skinny .
Yeah, it's because of the MCT.
So you and I definitely want to get mean, lean and green, that's going to come from the coconut oil.
So you can only throw it in something like a smoothie - always a great option.
And then, avocado.
Avocado is fantastic because it's a great kind of good high fats.
You actually need to eat quality high fats in order to burn the really bad fats from like the bean and cheese burrito.
A great option with that one is that you'll use only half an avocado every single day.
The first half of that half, so we're going to do a little math, a fourth, would go on your toast in the morning.
And then maybe you throw the other portion on your salad in the afternoon.
Right now we want to talk about some mixture, right, of protein and fat which comes with the eggs.
I love eggs because it's a tired girl talk, right?
So you're on the go all the time.
Make sure that you have hard-boiled eggs.
Just throw them in your fridge, have them at work when you can, great to mix that with another piece of fruit,
Add some fiber, and then you have the protein with fat and a fiber, you're getting it huh?
There's a theme to this whole thing, yeah!
And then, let's talk about speeding up our metabolism in general.
We had the oil, but you also would love to use some lemons.
So we like to do warm lemon water in the morning - that just resets your metabolism every day.
It also fights sugar cravings, huge.
I also really love blueberries.
Blueberries have a really great thing called anthocyanins.
I know, anthocyanins. It's a very big word.
It actually gives the blueness to the blueberry.
And why do you care?
Well, the reason that you like this big ol word right here is because it helps to fight stress.
And stress tends to chill right in that middle section of your body, that five pounds you can't seem to get off?
Yeah, that's probably from stress, so eat your blueberries every single day.
And on top of that, put them on your oatmeal.
And here's the last thing I love.
It is a complex carb which to you means it goes nice and slow
like a marathon instead of a sprint through your body keeping you fuller longer so you don't overeat.
One more tired girl tip - always just have a little bit of instant oatmeal, gluten-free of course.
Chill it in your office just in your drawer so that in case you do get a little hungry,
you don't reach for the chips but you do have something carbi, starchy to help you through the day.

Hey my loves, welcome back.
Happy April.
So just to start with a quick bit of background on todays painting before I talk about everything
else, I'm still looking at experimenting with landscapes and backgrounds.
Thank you all so much by the way for the links and suggestions you left on my last video,
all of it was so helpful and has really got me trying all sorts of different approaches
to get the look I was going for.
Today's look is a little bit different to what I was going for last time, it's more
the style of drawings that I've been doing pretty much forever, if you look at some of
my sketchbook tours you'll see the fine-liner buildings come up a lot, just because I love
the simplicity and the neatness of it.
It's also something that I'm quite confident and comfortable with.
But an extra element, something I haven't used properly in my work for a really long
time, I decided to try some watercolour painting to colour it, and rather than stick with simple
colours, I wanted to limit the number of paints I used but end up with quite a colourful piece.
I was definitely hugely influenced by Mateusz Urbanowicz when it came to my use of colour,
he's an amazing artist who works in animation in Japan, you've almost definitely seen
some of his Japanese 'storefront' series of paintings, and he actually has a channel
on YouTube as well where he talks a lot about watercolour techniques, choosing colours,
finding inspiration, and just a whole wealth of knowledge that comes from his years of
experience.
I'll leave a link to his channel below so you can check him out.
But yeah, since I'm trying to work on my landscapes a bit, I'm trying out anything
I think I might like to adopt into my work, just to see how I feel about it.
I think that's an important thing to do, when you see an aspect of someone else's
work that interests you or fascinates you or inspires you, when you see someone do something
and think how did they do that, the best thing is to try it for yourself, feel it out, and
see if it could work for you.
And obviously I'm not talking about completely ripping off someones style or subject matter,
but picking parts that speak to you and interpreting them your way, because anything you do will
always have an element of uniqueness to it, because no-one else has your hand; your specific
touch, or the way your brain interprets the things you see.
In this particular case for me, I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed working with
watercolours again, this is a set from WH Smiths by the way, I got it in the wooden
box you saw from a car boot sale for about £5 if I remember right.
And I haven't used them a lot, I remember talking quite recently about how tube watercolours…
I can't really get them right.
But this time, I feel like I found the sweet spot with them.
And I was really impressed with the quality.
I love gouache and I love how it looks, but I'd forgotten how much more responsive watercolour
can be, it is so much more agreeable…
I can't really think of the word.
It just does what you want it to a lot more I think than gouache does.
This was such a treat to paint, no stress, I just felt like I knew what I was doing.
Which, as I'm sure you've come to realise, is quite rare for me.
However.
I'm still so much more drawn to the look of gouache paintings, and that minimal style
I was talking about last time.
So I took from this painting, a real appreciation for watercolours, more of a desire to incorporate
them into my work in the future, but possibly not anything to adopt into my style.
And that's why I think everything is worth trying.
It's never a waste of time to experiment.
You're either gonna learn that you want to do more of that thing, or that you don't.
Either way, you've got to know a little bit more about yourself and your art.
And if you're worried about copying someone else's work or style, because I know there
can be such a fine line between being inspired or influenced by someone and just straight
ripping off their work, I would say, if you find yourself about to draw something and
before you can even start you're thinking 'how would so-and-so do it' it's probably
time to take a step back and focus on how YOU would do it.
Just remember it's not really about wanting your work to look like something that that
person made, it's about acknowledging why their work appeals to you, understanding what
aspects appeal to you and what you can do to deliver the same feeling.
So that quick chat about the painting turned into more than a quick chat.
What I really wanted to talk about was reaching 100,000 subscribers!
Things really blew up recently, it's still kind of hard to wrap my head around.
Like, I can't explain how unfathomable it is to think that so many people will listen
to me go on and ramble, and be interested enough to want more.
So yeah I really appreciate all of you, the newest members of the fam and the peeps that
have been here since the beginning, you know who you are.
And I will be having a giveaway, that was supposed to be like my key point to talk about
in this video, I'm still just assembling the things but I should be ready to announce
