Hey, how are you doing? We're here in the middle of the motorway
to Merida. In the middle of nowhere.
But in the middle of nowhere we found a decent coffee
I think the entrance is over there
Today we're going to Chichen Itza
We're very excited because Connie's family have never been to Chichen Itza
They've never been to any ruins.
So they're going to see the 7th Wonder of the New World
So we're really excited, let's see how it goes...
Connie made us some great sandwiches
And we threw some to a dog
it hit him in the face but now he's eating it.
So now we're in Chichen Itza, it's really really hot
Connie's family paid 237 pesos each
We didn't pay anything because we're a student and a teacher.
You need to bring a valid credential, in the week
But on Sundays it's free for all Mexicans and it's definitely worth it!
You need to bring insect repellant, a hat,
suncream,
It gets hot! I recommend that you
come at 8 in the morning because it fills up with
tourists, like you can see behind me. Way too many people!
Connie is happy because we're going
to show her family and do the whole tour.
And also because
we have a little "tour"
made by a friend of Connie's.
The first thing is the big pyramid,
"The Castle" the main part of the site Chichen Itza.
Another one is the Temple of the Warriors"
The "Temple of the Warrior"... is it Warrior or Warriors?
of the Warriors.
It's cool! The annoying thing is that you can't enter inside, which is the same for the big pyramid.
Before you could, maybe 20 years ago you could. But now you're not allowed.
Next is "The Ossuary" or "High Priests Tomb"
It's here. It's very similar to the big pyramid
but smaller and flatter.
It's cool and not so many people come here.
Next is the "Snail Temple"
Which has a spiral staircase inside.
Its really cool and different to the rest of the temples
and pyramids that are here. But
you can't enter here either!
We're right here at the "Cenote"
There are 2 cenotes here in Chichen Itza worth seeing.
This one is better, the other one is really small and you can't see much.
This one is much bigger and there are less trees
so you can see better.
The bad thing is you can't enter.
This is the "Sacred Cenote"...and it's super hot!
Now we're here on the ball-game pitch.
The game is different, it's not played with the feet but with
this part of the body (the hips).
It's worth seeing.
There are a lot of people, more than when we arrived.
The sun has gone which is helpful.
I'm going to try to explain to you what the game is like.
If you look over there
Over here.
That ring is the one
that the ball has to go into.
If want to go or are thinking about going to Xcaret
right there in Xcaret you can see how they play the "Fire-Ball" game.
It's really cool to see and it's worth it.
Done.
We've finished. It was really great.
We were here for 2 or 3 hours, Connie's family
loved walking around
the whole of Chichen Itza. Because normally people
just come, look at the main pyramid
So we made it worth while!
Now we're going to go to a cenote near Valladolid.
To go for something to eat and refresh ourselves.
The heat is too much.
We're in Valladolid.
We're really really hungry. If I had my drone here
the truth is
we'd take some awesome shots
of that church over there.
But the drone died. Why did it die? You have to watch my video to see
when I drowned my drone in the middle of the ocean.
What you have to do when you come here to Valladolid, the most important thing
is go to the market and eat cochinita (mexican pulled pork)
You have to eat cochinita!
A good cochinita, a sandwich, Poc- Chuc
that's what it's worth coming to Valladolid for.
We're hungry, we're going to eat something tasty
and then we'll go to the cenote to cool off because it's way too hot.
Connie's family are happy.
Spike's not that happy. And everyone is hungry!
Hey, we're here in the cenote.
This cenote is called Samulá
There are 2 in the same place, it costs 125 pesos
It's not bad, it includes 2 cenotes
one is underground and the other has an opening in the top.
It's interesting because
I haven't been here in a long time
and it's changed a lot but check this out....
This is the other cenote here next to Samulá (X'kekén)
I prefer Samulá, because as you can see
this one is darker, but the cool thing is the Stalactites
If you remember it's similar to the Grutas of Garcia from my Monterrey video
so it's like being there but being able to swim!
You can see the roots hanging down with the stalactites.
And the stalagmites.
Look how the water mixes
with the stalactites.
It's something different because usually when you're in caves you can't
touch the stalactites because the grease and PH of our skin
interrupts or deteriorates the progress
and growth of the stalactites.
But here it's normal and everyone is swimming around them
it's very touristy. This complex
is very modern compared to before, but it's worth a visit!
I hope that you've enjoyed this video
It was a bit different, I tried to make it more touristy so you could see more or less
what Chichen Itza is like.
It was a great day!

Put your ideas in the comments
I also tried to make it more cinematic. Like I commented earlier if I had had the drone
I would have flown it in the middle of Chichen Itza
but my drone died, if you don't know how then check out my previous videos!
At the end what I want is to invite you on
this adventure, travelling to different places
and find a way that you can feel
part of this.
So subscribe! If you haven't done already.
And see you next time!
