Unveiled: National's party list - who made the cut? - Duration: 5:48.Unveiled: National's party list - who made the cut?
National has released its party list with few surprises and little cause for dummy-spitting by candidates.
The top 21 are ranked according to their cabinet ranking besides Speaker and list MP David Carter who is No 3, as he was in the 2014 party list.
They are followed in ranking by the three whips, Jami-Lee Ross, Barbara Kuriger and Matt Doocey. They are followed by list MP Brett Hudson, standing in Ohariu, where National has an electoral accommodation.
National wants him to campaign for the incumbent, support partner and United Future leader Peter Dunne, which Hudson can do so with every expectation he will be returned on the list. No MPs are ranked below non-MPs.
The highest ranked non-MP is Nicola Willis, a former adviser to former Prime Minister John Key, at No 48, who is standing in Wellington Central.
Based on the 2014 result of electorate seats won and Party Vote support Willis would be the 17th MP elected from Nationals list after the election on September 23.
But with polls suggesting that Nationals Party vote is likely to be less than the 4704 per cent party vote in 2014, she could be on the cusp.
National currently has 59 seats, 40 of which are electorate seats and 19 of which are list MPs. The number of list MPs parties gets depends on how many electorates they win compared with their entitlement from the party vote.
Party president Peter Goodfellow said rejuvenation was important for any political party and 13 new MPs would enter Parliament alongside 47 returning MPs, based on the 2014 result.
This is Nationals most diverse list ever, he said. Were incredibly proud to represent New Zealanders from all walks of life, with a range of ethnicities and backgrounds.
Weve got businesspeople, teachers, farmers, community advocates, scientists, and a pilot - just to name a few.
Eleven National MPs are retiring this election: Hekia Parata, list; Murray McCully, East Coast Bays; Craig Foss, Tukituki; Jo Goodhew, Rangitata; Chester Borrows, Whanganui; Peseta Sam Lotu-Iga, Maungakiekie; Lindsay Tisch, Waikato; Maurice Williamson, Pakuranga; Paul Foster-Bell, list; Jono Naylor, list; and Todd Barclay, Clutha-Southland.
Barclays was a late retirement - the result of a scandal involving his recording an electorate secretarys conversations. His replacement has not yet been selected but that candidate will be placed at No 68 on the list.

TRUMP, JAPAN'S ABE TALK ABOUT 'GRAVE AND GROWING' NORTH KOREA THREAT - north korean leader - Duration: 3:48.TRUMP, JAPAN'S ABE TALK ABOUT 'GRAVE AND GROWING' NORTH KOREA THREAT
http://cdn. primedia. za/primedia-broadcasting/image/upload/c_fill,h_289,q_70,w_463/k5mj9ipwt391ofixxbes.
TOKYO - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spoke with US President Donald Trump on Monday and agreed on the need for more action on North Korea just hours after the S Ambassador to the United Nations said Washington is done talking about North Korea.
Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the United Nations, said in a statement China must decide if it is willing to back imposing stronger UN sanctions on North Korea over Friday nights long-range missile test, the Norths second this month.
Any new UN Security Council resolution that does not significantly increase the international pressure on North Korea is of no value, Haley said, adding that Japan and South Korea also needed to do more.
Abe told reporters after his conversation with Trump that repeated efforts by the international community to find a peaceful solution to the North Korean issue had yet to bear fruit in the face of Pyongyangs unilateral escalation.
International society, including Russia and China, need to take this seriously and increase pressure, Abe said. He said Japan and the United States would take steps towards concrete action but did not give details.
Abe and Trump did not discuss military action against North Korea, nor what would constitute the crossing of a red line by Pyongyang, Deputy Chief Cabinet spokesman Koichi Hagiuda told reporters.
A White House statement after the phone call said the two leaders agreed that North Korea poses a grave and growing direct threat to the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and other countries near and far.
It said Trump reaffirmed our ironclad commitment to defend Japan and South Korea from any attack, using the full range of United States capabilities. Japans Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said the talk between Abe and Trump lasted for about 50 minutes.
The role that China can play is extremely important, he told a news conference.
Japan intends to call on those countries involved - including the UN, the United States and South Korea to start, but also China and Russia - to take on additional duties and actions to increase pressure, Suga said, declining to give details about what those steps might be.

Interview with my mom /// in Dutch with SUBTITLES - Duration: 5:58.Goodmorning ya'all
My mom and I
are
in Schoorl
that's impossible to pronounce in English
so... just... plain Dutch
are gonna do a little hike.
Just me and my mommy
just chillin.
Because it is beautiful weather outside.
It's sunny
We love sun.
Let's call this a warmup
No, this is basically the only stairs
in here.
But it is pretty high.
And it is pretty hot
For... Dutch.. Conditions...
Oh, its so flat!
Hello mommy.
Hi honey
Oh, look
We are sitting in the shade
Yes
Catching our breath
Catching our breath
Good for my fitness
Right?
Yes
We did it.
Yes
Good hike
Yes
A fat 10 kilometers
How was it to
being at home while I was on holiday?
Well, holiday...
traveling.
Well, I was always looking on the GPS. Where is she?
What is she doing?
She going back?
Why is she going back?
What is wrong?
There must be something wrong.
I am sure there is something wrong.
Oh look, she is going in the right direction again.
*sigh of relief*
Oh she is stopping for the day.
She probably found a hotel.
Where is she now?
Ok, there.
Then she'll probably be in a hotel
That's how it went.
So it was pretty stressful?
Yes
I think I always very worried about you.
Or a pit in my stomach
Or both
What do you think about the fact I made it?
Very beautiful
But I am happier that you are home in one piece than that you made it.
Are you proud?
Yes I am
Are you?
Yes I am
Definitely!
That makes me happy
You did well.
Was it fun to come and visit me?
Yes
Yes, but there was always something wrong.
Yeah, I was always unlucky when you came to visit.
Maybe it was because of us?
Yeah, you never know.
No, we'll never know.
Shall we continue?
Yes, we are leaving
Made it!
It's hot!
Open this ....
...thingy
Good walk
We are going home, see you tomorrow!

The Antikythera Mechanism Episode 4 - Making And Fitting B2 - Duration: 9:59.G'day Chris here and welcome back to Clickspring.
In this video I add the first components
to what will eventually become the main drive wheel assembly.
Now I had expected that this would just be a quick task
on the way to completing the input crown wheel assembly.
And I even went as far as preparing the raw stock for that part of the job.
But fitting B2 ended up being quite an interesting process on its own,
so I'll cover the crown wheel assembly in the next video instead.
I started by marking out the blank with 64 divisions,
using the shop made dividing plate shown in a previous video.
Next, I formed the teeth, using one of the files custom made for the purpose.
Be sure to check out that video if you haven't seen it already,
as well as the related video on case hardening.
Now before I do any more with this wheel, I'd like to show you a bit more detail on
where it fits into the mechanism.
Its permanently fastened to the main Solar Drive Wheel B1,
and its part of the gearing associated with the back half of the device.
In fact its the first wheel in that large and quite complex part of the mechanism.
It engages 2 wheels, that in turn drive the gearing
that animates the eclipse prediction display,
the calendar display
and the lunar phase display.
Now that's a lot gears, generating a lot friction.
So the load on B2 and its rivets is considerable.
And The Maker has addressed this issue in the design of the component.
Firstly by making it quite stout.
It has a relatively small diameter,
and it's one of the thickest wheels in the mechanism.
And secondly, the scans show 4 quite substantial rivets
placed in a symmetrical pattern around the spokes,
that hold B2 firmly in place.
Its a very neat solution
that wouldn't be out of place in a modern clock mechanism.
Now the central bore of B2 needs to be opened up to match the main bearing,
and it could be simply drilled out on a drill press.
But I decided to relocate the part back on the lathe to do the job.
It makes it much easier to hold, and ensures good concentricity with the teeth.
A light rub on some abrasive paper took care of the small burrs thrown up when I filed the teeth,
and that's B2 complete for now.
Next up I made the circular spacer that fits on the other side of B1.
And you'll notice that I haven't used any marking fluid to make that circle more visible.
I've done this to show just how hard it can be to see even a simple object line on bare metal.
Even up close I think you'll agree it's not exactly the clearest line you could hope for,
particularly if you were working on something really critical like, say,
filing teeth, or locating a hole.
So I think it's reasonable to assume that The Ancients would have tried to improve this situation
with some sort of equivalent to our modern marking dyes.
If they did, it would've needed to be something that was easy to apply and remove,
and hopefully robust enough to take a fair amount of handling before it wore off.
It would also have needed to provide a distinct colour contrast
to make the lines stand out to the naked eye.
Of course marking out rarely happens in isolation.
There's usually a few alignment tools required to get that scriber
exactly where it needs to be, and this job is no different.
So I've made a couple of small alignment pins to help me out.
One to locate parts on the division plate,
and one to bring all 3 components into alignment for drilling out the rivet hole positions.
Now it certainly doesn't meet the requirement of robust handling,
but a very straight forward marking material worth investigating is candle soot.
It can be applied and removed easily, and the contrast it provides is excellent.
The positions for the 4 holes are now firmly located over the centerline of each of the spokes,
and can now be drilled out in preparation for accepting the rivets.
And as tempting as it is to just drop in all 4 rivet holes at once,
even the slightest movement of the work whilst drilling can lead to an unacceptable
misalignment of the holes.
So the standard clockmaking approach is to play it safe,
and drop in a steady pin first to lock the orientation.
The hole is taper broached, and then a pin with a matching taper is tapped into place.
It gives a very precise and reliable lock, and the pin can be easily tapped out,
later in the process.
The 4 rivets were turned to size,
and left just long enough to allow them to be comfortably held for insertion.
By now of course a lot of the soot has worn off,
so I think its clear that it really wouldn't be suitable for marking out
anything that needs a lot of handling, like for example the wheels.
But despite that flaw, it did a reasonable job in this situation,
so I'll keep it in mind for some future parts.
If you can think of any other materials that might be plausible,
then be sure to let me know in the comments below.
The steady pin was removed, and the location drilled out for the last rivet.
I reduced the length of the rivets, using the belt sander.
And then started the process of permanently setting them in place.
I made sure that each rivet end was thoroughly peened,
and that the metal was pushed well out into the chamfer,
giving not just a seamless join, but also good solid mechanical strength.
And for the final step,
I used a file and 800 grit abrasive paper to blend the rivets into the surrounding metal.
The process of rivetting has pulled the parts firmly together,
creating a good join.
And that extra mass at the center has had an interesting effect
on the feel of the main drive wheel.
It now has quite a decent heft to it.
And as I reach the end of this video,
its hard to escape the thought that over 2000 years ago,
there was moment, just like this.
When this iconic assembly was given its first trial fit on the main bearing.
And The Maker, carefully assessing the work,
Watched it turn for the very first time.
Thanks for watching, I'll see you later.

Developers React - Steve Balmer - Duration: 3:20.I don't like this type of
crowd manipulation like
we are the best and we can do everything
Developers! Developers! Developers ...
He was really
Over enthusiastic
Question time
What was the video about?
That was the video about that
crazy manger Steve Balmer
That was Balmer, he is well known nutcase
It was about crazy Steve Balmer
He was in charge of Microsoft for some time
When Bill Gates ask him to buy Nokia
because his phone broke. He bought the whole Nokia company.
I never liked him much, but
the truth is that for some time
he was very influential person.
At Microsoft best time he was able to really enjoy it.
What a nut
Do you like this kind of manner?
Hmmm
probably not.
Well, it is nice that he is so thrilled
Well yeah it's pretty terrible.
You can laugh about it, but
I don't vote for that kind of behaviour
It's not my cup of tea.
I don't like when somebody does these kind of behaviour.
He was like that from the beginning
Since 1980 or around that
when he sold DOS
he was equally crazy
At those times it might have work
to shout at people from TV. That this is the BEST
and throw stuff behind you
which I think he still has
but now is a different time
This behaviour is good
when you have some personal relationship to the person
but Steve is not probably an athlete
when he was able to sweat so much during there four jumps
Microsoft efforts are very sweaty
It is of course a good idea
but it is more like acting something
I don't like him very much...
How do you think his colleagues reacted to this?
I think that it was mixed
I believe that he was the lungs of Microsoft for some time
which is worth appreciation
I think, that it is funny
I believe that that influential person
when he does something like that
he was able to
enthusiast the audience
which was probably the reason for this
and there was some effect
Would you like to see your boss act like this?
Probably not
No
Probably not
But I would not be offended of course.
What should the developers react to next?
Leave your ideas in the comments.
