The next instinct or "psychosis-hylomorphism" is Misericordia, having arrived at the Gratum-sphere.
Misericordia means "compassion" and refers to a focus on empathy, consolation, and human suffering, which includes a high sensitivity, especially against vulgarity, and a demand for love.
I have given Misericordia the alternative name Sensitivum, which does mean "sensitive."
Misericordia is the most sensitive and squeamish psychosis-hylomorphism,
which is connected with their focus on empathy and energy for compassion, paying attention to people's shortcomings with concern, and protest against insensitivity.
So that's the central thing, as I see it, for the Misericordia-energy: to provide the organism of humanity with a function that assures compassion, work with sorrow, and opening people's hearts.
Behind this interest lies also a drive or desire to maintain problematization, to bring their environment to a level where everyone has problems so that everyone needs more comfort and compassion.
As if they believe others deep inside likes to cry out and to express their flaws just like themselves, making them more interested in problems, deficiencies, and to sabotage than joy and pleasures.
The way in which this intensity of problem and need for empathy expresses itself depends on the configuration.
The configuration that is the least intense or problem-oriented is the one with Fiduciam and Meritum secondary.
Misericordia has the following two weaknesses:
the first weakness is that its energy for problematization and empathy comes at the expense of the capacity for pleasure.
Misericordia-individuals regard problem solving as superficial, are the most squeamish and prudish, and have very little capacity for pleasure or enjoyment.
Unlike the Wisdom Types in the Sapientiam-sphere who most often want to avoid problems,
Misericordia-individuals want to increase problems and the need for consolation, which represents a large part of the relationship problems in society.
Misericordia is the most bullied human type in schools, because of their need for intensity of problem, sabotage, self-sabotage, and protest against insensitivity.
The second weakness is that their demands and need for sabotage are supported by various physical shortcomings that give rise to a dissatisfaction with themselves.
Misericordia belongs to the socially extraverted sphere that wants to be on stage, have attention, is drawn to social trends, needs external recognition, and becomes easily drawn to icons they want to mimic.
But they often lack physical beauty and talents many other types have, which makes them frustrated with themselves in their inability to live up to their ideals.
This self-hatred, along with the hostility toward others they find vulgar, insensitive, or superficially free of problems,
can make Misericordia-individuals become the most hateful, judging, and long-term vengeful people, not unlike Magnitudinem-individuals as they also take on a strong victim role.
The strongest victim role.
But they can also kill themselves or harm themselves in various ways, and are common in mental hospitals.
They need to allow themselves satisfactions and pleasures, cultivate love and empathy for themselves,
free themselves from their need for problem intensity, reduce their various demands, and cease with their victimization.
A love for psychological problems and suffering, however, leads to more depth and substance, something almost no other human type provides the species with except Abstractum.
No other type can open people's hearts, touch people to tears, and inspire compassion as much as a Misericordia.
So they can be quite powerful within art, theater, music, film, literature and poetry.
Since it is a feminine type that is more common among women, I would like to start with female examples.
But unfortunately, women are not as famous as men, so I think I'll have to utilize more male examples after all.
Misericordia-individuals feel just as inferior as Abstractum, if not more so, but are more visible in the world because of more desires and energy.
They often have a mature, overripe, or even aging appearance that lacks physical beauty.
Patti Smith is an example.
To possess physical beauty also does not always seem to interest them much, since beauty is associated with superficiality, pleasures, and joy. Something they rather seem to want to destroy.
Thus, they fit well into the modern art world, with its taboo against beauty and pleasures, something that can puzzle some art students like in the movie Art-School Confidential.
Misericordia is undoubtedly one of the reasons why the contemporary art world looks the way it does.
Many famous artists have been Misericordia-individuals, such as Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch, both with a love of suffering and sickness in front of fun and pleasures.
The idea of the suffering artist has its origin in Misericordia-individuals.
And those Misericordia-individuals who are seeking suffering the most are those with Corpus secondary,
as this increases their self-deprecation, self-sabotaging, and hypersensitive tendencies.
Some examples include the artist Anna Odell, Henrik Berggren, Marcel Proust, Ingmar Bergman, Kay Pollak, Kurt Cobain, Chris Waitt, and various Youtubers.
"We sat on the stairs and cried. At least I cried a little bit..."
"And I do not know if they did, I heard nothing over my own sobbing, but I turned toward Storm and said, 'I do not want to be trans[gender], it's not fun.'"
"And I have not chosen to be trans[gender] because it's fun, because you do not choose to be LGBT..."
"But I just feel..."
"There are honestly people who think you choose to be LGBT."
"And then I'm just wondering why...why the hell would you choose to belong to a group that's so oppressed?"
"Why one would choose to join a community that is so damn exposed. We are being murdered, beaten, threatened, discriminated, insulted..."
"Why would you choose to expose yourself to it?"
"People have, among other things, screamed things at me in town."
"Not often, but when it happens, I realize how, like, real the hatred is..."
"... Anti-attitude I've had for most people and most things..."
"That has been a big problem for me, but that has also been a source of much power and creativity and such."
"But, mostly negative."
"If you expect to be ill-treated by the world in everything, you also get that because of how you yourself act."
"So that stuff's an evil circle."
"I handed out the paper for a while, on Sunday mornings."
"It was probably the worst thing I've ever done. Every morning we had to get up very early, 5 o'clock in the morning."
"When watching TV, you want to be on it yourself, and you're thinking that you want to penetrate into the TV..."
"Now I want to get in there and settle things with them... Sweap the floor with people."
If they have Abstractum secondary, they can become just as lethargic and passive as Abstractum, but can still sabotage for others and are more asexual.
In fact, the phenomenon of asexuality and difficulty with enjoyment of sex is very much related to Misericordia-individuals and their instinct for purity and consolation.
They want love and consolation, but often not sex and pleasure, because sex is both too vulgar for them and at the same time something that interferes with their need for suffering, problems, and self-sabotage.
They rather turn sex into a form of rape, something they claim only the male can get pleasure from, like in modern radical-feminist circles where Misericordia is one of the most common types.
One example is the blogger Fanny Åström who after a while decided to become a lesbian.
Misericordia is the human type that seems to consist of the most homosexual and LGBT-people, which might be connected with their function to hold the strongest compassion and empathy for the deviant.
Although homosexuality occurs in all types, it seems to be more common among Gratum-types overall.
Misericordia-men also often identify more with women, but not always.
"Why is it so important to be masculine?"
"It is when you're so little masculine as me!"
"Had I been normal-masculine, it would not have been so important."
"I'm more woman than man."
"Does it HAVE to be painful to make a good movie?"
"Yes, I really think so."
"All the children had been smacked throughout their upbringing - except me."
"And I was the one who wanted to get smacked!"
"So what happened to you then?"
"I was just a little sensitive one!"
"There should be pity for me. Do you understand that?!"
"It's so that the audience shall get a bit of a beating. It should not be too funny."
Filmmaker Lars von Trier is an interesting example because of his interest in sex and pornography, something unusual for a Misericordia-individual...
"... I'm only interested in penetration."
"The idea was that women would make porn movies for women."
"And I had hoped it would become something different, but it did not really become different."
"Plus, the directors are too refined to do porn."
"Sex would be fun, because sex is..."
"It's hard to do."
...but anyone who has seen Nymphomaniac can easily see that the film's focus on melancholy and suffering is Misericordemic.
A kind of love for sickness and morbidity.
Masochism through sex instead of pleasure, like when Chris Waitt visits a dominatrix in his movie A Complete History of My Sexual Failures.
They can go far in order to make people feel sorry for them.
Have a need to make themselves look ridiculous and at the same time get attention.
A longing for tears. A will to melancholy.
Misericordia-individuals are not nymphomaniacs, so using Charlotte Gainsbourg in the role of a nymphomaniac feels wrong.
"The Masochist" would have been a better title for the film than Nymphomaniac.
"One thing, Kay, that is amazing with you is...AAAHH!"
"And so it comes. 'You cannot feel this good without punishment!" And then you back down to a lower level..."
One of my favorite filmmakers among Misericordia-individuals is Hideaki Anno,
famous for the critically successful anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, which became a global phenomenon and generated national discussion in Japan.
In Anno we see the self-contempt and sensitivity that shone through his self-portrait Shinji Ikari.
And he definitely has Abstractum secondary.
Since he has said that Shinji, Rei and Asuka represent different aspects of himself,
I began to wonder if Shinji expressed his Misericordia tendencies while Rei expressed Abstractum inside, and Asuka expressed Meritum.
But I do not see that Anno has Meritum secondary so Asuka is probably a reflection of Misericordia's inner aggressiveness and hidden desire to be superior.
The success with Evangelion was that he managed to stir up people's emotions, and make them confront depression without providing them with too much escapistic, lighthearted entertainment.
He himself was depressed, wanted to draw anime fans out of their escape from reality and give them something that tackles reality and living among others.
The series left a big impression on me when I was a teenager and had problems myself with relationships and wanted to escape from reality.
It's not a completely successful work, but that it opened discussion and changed Japanese anime industry similar to how 2001: A Space Odyssey changed the film industry, is a major achievement.
Misericordia-individuals may be drawn to spirituality or religiosity since they are interested in purity, and are generally not spreaders of joy beyond the empathic ability.
Their need for purity and avoidance of worldly vulgarity can, however, reach pathological proportions,
such as with the philosopher Otto Weininger who held the position that beauty and sex were an impossible combination, that love requires distance to be preserved, that it must reject reality to imagine something more loveable,
that there is no spirituality in the physical, whether in pleasure or in propagating the species, and that a real man seeks speckless purity and is tormented by not finding it within himself.
He depricated women because they did not seek purity, chastity, and morality in men, and early on took his life in the same house where Beethoven, whom he admired, had died.
Misericordia can, in their self-loathing and readiness to take offense, be just as humorless as Abstractum, if not more so, and so it is also unusual for Misericordia-individuals to become comedians.
But sometimes it happens, such as with Kerstin Granlund in Galenskaparna.
"In the morning it is bright, but the day will be brighter..."
Kerstin Granlund, however, does not have Corpus or Abstractum secondary, but probably Meritum and Fiduciam.
Meritum secondary makes a Misericordia more stoic, like masochistic practitioners of religions and medieval saints who tortured themselves in solitude without complaint.
An example is Christopher Thomas Knight, called the North Pond Hermit, who lived alone for 27 years in woodlands without contact with people.
He never lit a fire at night but survived the cold by waking up and moving around in the camp. He took cold sponge baths.
This stoicism allows them to focus more empathy and altruism on others rather than on their own consolation needs.
Some other examples are Vincent van Gogh, author Lev Tolstoy, T. E. Lawrence "of Arabia", composer Sergei Rachmaninov, and actor Sir Alec Guinness.
Also Sweden's current prime minister, Stefan Löfven, is an example.
It's thus not entirely unusual for a Misericordia to join politics and assume a leadership role, especially if they have Meritum secondary which makes them demand more of themselves and assume more altruistic values.
These stoic and altruistic tendencies can make them resemble Corpus-individuals, but Misericordia is more uncomfortable around pleasures.
It is possible that the Swedish poet Dan Andersson also had Meritum secondary, since he often wrote about the poor and vulnerable.
With Exitium secondary, however, Misericordia-individuals become less prudish, more arrogant, and more interested in beauty.
It does not mean that they are less squeamish as they are still highly sensitive and easily frustrated, but they may be more interested in vulgarity and perversity than other Misericordia-individuals,
such as Italian horror movie director Mario Bava, who inspired both slasher movies like Friday the 13th and the rock band Black Sabbath.
Or artists like Nick Cave, Ville Valo, David Bowie, Björk, and Marilyn Manson.
Exitium secondary not only give Misericordia-individuals a need for beauty, but can also give them more physical beauty and reduce the aging looking quality.
They often have a greater hatred of others than self-loathing.
Lars von Trier called Björk a mean bitch who threatened to leave the production so that he would go bankrupt.
"Björk, yeah! But she's not a woman."
"She's like a little...troll."
"Well, we had that, but at the same time we had a good working collaboration."
"But it's true, we were fighting like hell."
"Why did you do that then?"
"We did because she was...a mean bitch dammit."
"She tried to shut down the movie from the first day."
"She said: 'Now I will go, and then you will go bankrupt!'"
"An introductory line that is somewhat provocative."
Exitium also increases their cravings, which can make them the most envious of human types, such as Elliot Rodger whose envy against others who had girlfriends made him commit murder.
He follows the pattern of being bullied at school, cried the first time he saw a porno because of hypersensitivity, and exhibits an affectation and excessive sophistication in his revenge video.
Misericordia-individuals are the second most common among school shooters and murderous social justice warriors after Magnitudinem,
such as Adam Lanza, who, in his squeamishness, washed his hands and changed socks 20 times a day, refused to touch a handle with his bare hands, refused to have a Christmas tree in the house,
often had crying attacks and locked himself in his room for several hours, and did not eat his food unless it was arranged in a special way on the plate.
Another example is Kevin Loibl who killed the Youtube singer he was in love with.
He was oversensitive to light, became a vegitarian and tried to change his appearance cosmetically, including a hair transplant and laser treatment for the eyes, to impress and become her boyfriend.
However, I'm not sure if all of these had Exitium secondary. The two latter may have had Corpus secondary.
The killer Luka Magnotta is more someone I would ascribe Exitium secondary.
Examples of women with Exitium secondary are Vali Myers, actress Grace Zabriskie, youtuber Freja Lindberg,
and, perhaps most infamous, radical feminist Valerie Solanas who wrote the SCUM manifesto where the Exitiumic demolition tendency is directed primarily at males.
She too was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, which seems to be psychiatrists favorite diagnosis, though it is true that Misericordia can be almost as paranoid as Magnitudinem.
The difference is that Misericordia's paranoia is primarily personal and relational, while Magnitudinem's paranoia is also global and more superstitious.
Something of a difference between "feminine" and "masculine" paranoia.
As I said earlier, Misericordia-individuals can become the most hateful and vengeful of people.
And the most famous example in history is Adolf Hitler who, after being abused hard by his tyrannical father,
developed a destructive personality where every conversation, however unimportant, seemed to show that he was filled with an immeasurable hatred where almost anything could inflame his wrath and hysteria.
In his psychological analysis of Adolf Hitler for the US intelligence service during the war, Henry Murray wrote that Hitler feigned lung trouble to drop out of school, had low tolerance of frustration, had temper tantrums, and was finnicky about food.
Some information implied that he seemed unable to have normal sexual relations.
His empathy, however, can be seen in his vegitarianism and concern for animal rights.
However, there is no doubt in my mind that the combination of Exitium and Misericordia is a highly unstable and explosive mixture.
Hitler's book "Mein Kampf" can probably confuse people with its Magnitudinem rhetoric, but there is some evidence that it was written by Rudolf Hess who Hitler shared cell with in prison.
Hitler got to express his torment and to stir up the masses in his passionate speeches.
If they have the voice for it, they can spit out a lot of venom in their hatred and intensity.
Other male examples are Richard Wagner and Claude Debussy.
They often have an "I hate you" face with notable eyebrows, but not always.
An example of the exception is Youtuber Carl Fredrik Alexander Rask, who I still think has Exitium secondary since he is drawn to extra intensity and is less squeamish.
"You thought yesterday that my channel is dead, and I've explained to you that it's not!"
"Then I'll talk about things that bother me like hell!"
"I'm in bed, it's summer morning, I wake up, I hear the birds chirping, the sun is shining...and it's generally damn terrible!"
"You know I don't like that!"
"And as if that was not enough with sunshine and heat and light and hell, I hear, in the ear, 'Bzzzzz! Bzzzzz!'"
"A small goddamn fly fucker who sits down somewhere! Sits down on my arm!"
"I smack him, he manages to fly away!"
"Thank you so much, and my first job...I was a kindergarten teacher, at a kindergarten here in Trosa. That was my first job."
"Shortly thereafter I started my clothing store..."
With his tattoos he is reminiscent of Exitium-individuals, but it is his focus on love that reveal him to be a Misericordia.
"Hey, I love you all."
"Does it not feel good?"
"Take care of each other, and we'll probably see each other tomorrow."
The mixture of Misericordia and Exitium is probably why people like Freja feel gender neutral, like an unusual mixture of femininity and masculinity.
Both raw intensity and obsession with love and care.
"My name is Freja Lindberg, my pronoun is 'hen'. I'm damn queer! Damn ready for Youtube!"
"I'm also a photographer, a queer and trans activist. My head is highlighted, I'm ready..."
"I talk about and take pictures of people and things that I think needs to get more room, needs more attention and representation."
"Representation is vital, it saves lives."
"To see oneself and to experience oneself represented is what is given room, what is seen, heard, and what is allowed to exist."
"That is vital, because it's a confirmation that I exist. I'm experiencing something similar to me, something I can identify with."
"I'm given room. I'm allowed to be and exist."
"I will spread knowledge about oppression, how they are maintained, and how we can change those social structures that are discriminatory."
"I will present what I do as an activist, and show you how you can change the world."
"That was kind of everything I had thought of, or, as it turned out for this video, my intro video on Youtube!"
Two other examples where Misericordia can look like Exitium-individuals are Lars Norén and Greece's Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis.
I'm not even sure they have Exitium in their configuration since Lars Norén is very sensitive and afraid of violence.
"I'm very afraid of violence, I'm very physically cowardly and I'm trying to understand. I've experienced what Kalle experienced."
"Can you describe it?"
"It was when I moved from Stockholm to Skåne and started school down there, I was beaten by a bunch of schoolmates who tied me to a lamp post and whipped me with steel wire..."
"...and it was to me utterly incomprehensible how one could do that. And that has always followed me."
It is possible that, in fact, it is Misericordia which is the source of rough qualities in appearance, because a lot of Exitium-individuals can look less coarse than Misericordia.
Before I finish, I would also like to mention Andy Warhol as an example of Misericordia's attraction to social trends, culture and icons.
Misericordia can appear introverted and self-willed, and of the Gratum-types they are the most introverted,
but they still have a stronger attraction and thirst for what is cultural than the Sapientiam-types who are more unconcerned with cultural trends.
And when Misericordia hates trends, it's precisely because they care about what draws attention that gives them that strong hatred. If they truly were introverted they would not care.
So that was Misericordia.
