I walked on to the crease like just another day

After 2 years I was finally going to play

Filled with child like excitement

You know cricket was life for me

people used to watch cricket I used to breath cricket

I was that HAR GALI KA TENDULKAR

Yea that was me..

so.. It was soo much that my house

living room walls had to be renovated

because they were all looking clumsy with rubber ball patches

so that was me...

Anyway coming back to the day

so I was playing cricket after 2 years It was a big deal for me

and we lost the toss

and we were going to field as always I was

standing near the boundry at mid-off because I had

a very good judgement of long distance catches and

I had a very strong arm to throw the ball

First time the ball came towards me

I ran towards the ball and I sat to field

somehow the ball went this side I thought it's coming straight but it went this side

I just somehow dived, I caught it, I threw

I shrugged it off saying "It's okay I am playing after 2 years"

Maybe I just did not

judge the ball very well i din't read it very well

It so happened it the fielding like 2 or 3

times I missed catches and misfielded

the innings got over so I was just like

Okay not a big deal I am gonna anyway open the innings so

that is my thing I am gonna bat first

so lets do it

I was all set openning batting first one to go

As soon as

the first ball came

I couldn't understand what happened

It just passed by

I couldn't really fathom what happened

I just spoke to my friend told him go for another ball

He bowled the second time I just din't get any

judgement of the speed. The speed just didn't adjust to my eyes

That moment I just thought probably it's over but..

A sportsman never gives up He can't give up

I asked him to spin the ball cause if you

cannot get a fast delivery what you try is to spin the ball

He spun the ball after the first bounce

I had no idea of where the ball went

And that was a big thing in that moment..

Lastly I just told him just go for a slower ball in a very exasperated tone

I told him go for a slower ball

maybe I will try playing that

I somehow managed playing that

at that moment I knew it was over

cricket for me was over

The eyes that at one point of time

spotted a cricket ball in a pitch dark ground

today could not read a spin delivery

The eyes which were the best for long distance catches

today are afraid when something is thrown

towards me so.. that sort of ate me

You know I still remember when dad brought me my first bat

It was a kashmir willow with you know that perfect stroke

for all the cricket lovers they would know this stroke bit of it

that day the bat in my hand had lost it's life practically

it was over for me

Time and again people kept telling me you keep practicing

it will come to you how could I explain to them how good I am at it or

probably how good I was at it

can you unlearn to walk

can you unlearn to cycle

that

that was that moment

till that day this accident

or the disability caused by

the accident never affected me but that day reality hit me

and this one hit hard

this one hit really hard because you know I was just used to listening

people that "you are a miracle child of all the

children in the accident you were the luckiest and soonest to recover

and I was suffocating inside

is that luck

I still remember

I fell on the ground and I kept crying soo badly because some how

I wanted to stop everything

somehow I wanted to shout aloud

please I just wanted to play some cricket

but now its gone

Strangely I don't remember how the accident happened

I have no memory of it

I just know in my 10th grade I had an accident

after 40 days of ventilation I woke up in the hospital

and 2 years I had a very good life I din't have any problem

I used to drive I used to

talk to people, I used to read, I used to recite everything was good

But probably that day life taught me

Learn to value every small thing that you have because

Is by killing animals and I found the best way to do that is by building like a platform like this get the polearm
