Hey Johnny, what do we have for them today
It's the 2017 Mazda3
It's sleek. It's white! It's gorgeous!
A car that has emerged and broken free from the Mazda2
just shy of imitating it's much larger sibling, the Mazda6
To go out on a limb
we'd say that this Mazda3 is going through puberty
and is doing so, oh so right
Its got a massive front grille to allow unimpeded air
the freedom to cool its frugal SkyActiv engine
It's also equipped with daytime running lights
for a distinct appearance on the road
as well as LED fog lamps to further illuminate your path
even at harsh conditions
A fantastic looking set of 18 inch mags
compliment the 3's low and wide stance
Just like its family members
it too has integrated turn signals on its side mirrors
A rather quaint, tiny rear spoiler
and LED lights adorn the rear, which below them
the Mazda3 has a distinct characteristic
a protruding bumper with soft contours
Somewhat reminds us of Forrest Gump's best friend's lip
Trunk space, like the Mazda2, is very competent
Enough to fit an able bodied host
Oh no no, we're not doing that again
Inside, the dark interior with brown accents
found all around the cabin mimic the premium look, feel and touch
that of the Mazda6, like a chocolate bar that we can't get enough of
Unlike the 6, those that look for the need of lumbar support
won't find it here, and more like the 2
the instrument cluster has one gauge, flanked by two LCD screens
displaying vehicle information
Entertainment, plus more vehicle settings
can be found on the center touchscreen
However, the optional Navigational system needs a little more time to boot up
Rear passengers of average Filipino height
shouldn't have much problems getting in and out of the vehicle
Leg, head and elbow room are adequate
Because of the exhaust and structural tunnel
found at the rear, the center passenger however
may find difficulty finding a non-compromised seating position if in a skirt
This range-topping variant
is powered by a high compression 2.0L SkyActiv engine
that delivers more torque at low, and mid level speeds
As you speed up, the power delivery remains consistent and constant
as the 6-speed automatic transmission
stretches the car's legs
Complementing its already quiet and firm ride quality
is the now standard G-Vectoring Control
which when turning, reacts in less than 50 milliseconds
adding to the vertical load of each tire
keeping body roll to a minimum, as if it were
Magic
The Mazda3 looks great both inside and out
fed with plenty of technologies like i-Stop and i-Eloop
and drives as well as it does looks
All this available at 1,248,000 Philippine pesos
a good price point amongst the competition for a well rounded car
