Statistics 101 - Correlation - Duration: 4:33.

in statistical analysis we compute correlations to determine how one or

more variables are tied to each other if there is a relationship between one or

two and I really like this cartoon which is about the debate about correlation

and causation and then you may see correlation but it's not approved for

causation there's a correlation between drownings and ice-cream sales but ice

cream sales don't cause drowning suggested ice cream sales and drownings

increase during summertime so correlation even with this caveat is an

important statistical tool for us to analyze how variables behave in each

other's presence for categorical variables we can use cross tabulations

and the test associated with it is chi-square test and for continuous

variables one way of looking at the correlation between two continuous

variables is to draw a scatterplot and see if there is a trend you can also

estimate a correlation coefficient is they are continuous variables we can use

Pearson correlation and if there are categorical variables we can use

tetrachord correlation here is the mathematical notation on how to compute

correlations my advice would be to consult your stats book on these details

when you're using statistical software they can readily compute these numbers

but essentially you're looking at the deviations from mean for both variables

in the multiplication both and then you take the sum of it and divide it by the

number of observations and that's your covariance and then when you take the

covariance and divide by standard deviation for each variable that is the correlation

more important than the mathematical notation is to understand what

correlation means let's say you have two variables x and y and they are

positively correlated and we computed the correlation coefficient it's

0.74 to visualize that if two variables have a positive correlation of

0.74 this is the trend you would see that is when one increases so does the other

if they have a negative correlation see this small negative sign here you would

see a downward sloping curve that as one increases the other one declines and

when there is no correlation between the two variables you see this

random bedrooms so in our data set of beauty and evaluation we we plotted

these results and fit the regression line and it's very weak correlation this

is a the r square value which we will discuss later but you could see that

there is a positive trend that has beauty increases so does the teaching

evaluation but it's not that clear-cut proof there so if you were to compute

the bivariate correlation the correlation coefficient which is called

a pearson correlation coefficient its point one eight nine and that's the

correlation between beauty and evaluation or beauty score and evaluate

teaching evaluation it's the same here in sort of a matrix so is it

statistically significant yes again we will not discuss the statistics behind

it or the math behind it this is for hypothesis testing later but to

demonstrate that if you have a variable and the variable has a positive

correlation it may not even appear as a positive correlation just by looking at

it but when you compute the correlation coefficient its point one eight nine and

based on this statistical theory we can see there's a statistical significant

correlation we'll discuss that later how do you create a scatter plot and compute

the correlation coefficient in SPSS we click on graphs chart builder select the

scatterplot drag this here and click on normalize beautiful score bring it on

x-axis teaching evaluation score goes on y-axis and that's pretty much it we

click OK and the output comes in here and now we fit a regression line to it

so we double click on this output and click here it says do you want to fit a

linear regression line i'm not going to attach the label so i deselect this you

can see this is a dialog box and reapply and say close here and there's the

regression line then for correlation you click on analyze then on correlate

bivariate pick the two variables which are the beauty

score and the teaching evaluations click on ok

My Hair Routine! Long, Shiny, Sleek and Chic Hair | Roxette Arisa - Duration: 8:54.

Hey guys today. We're gonna be creating this hair look

I love wearing my hair chic and sleek

And I've been able to do it a lot more because of this bad boy right here

So this is the ovation cell therapy hair and scalp treatment now

It's actually so funny that they wanted to partner with me on a video because I'd already been using it and I had actually

Been telling my friend care about it because we were both almost ruggle bus of like thinning hair and damaged hair

I don't even know what's happening to mind

My hair was legit falling out and then her hair her hair size like Low-key

No, shade accidentally sent out her hair so we were both Kinda like dude

Why is our hair so thin so like I said I started using this I had already been telling her about it

And then they wanted to partner in the video, so it was like. Yes

Let's do it because I want to tell everybody about it cuz it actually is a bomb product

So if you want to learn how I got this hair look how I get my hair to look very shiny very soft very

Silky and how it has like literally no damage, then just keep on watching and don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already

Let's go as well. Let's get into the video ok so. I just washed my hair

I just let it air dry, but as far as shampoo and conditioner go honestly

There's not one specific brand or products that I stick with I kind of just use whatever's around me just because I haven't

Honestly found anything that I would highly recommend to you guys that I'm like oh my God

This is life-changing this helps my hair so much I kind of feel like

Anything and everything I use just kind of works the same, but with any shampoo and conditioner

I use I do always go in with the ovation self therapy here in scalp treatments

So I'll shampoo first then I'll side this I'll leave it on for about five minutes

And then I will condition and I'm telling you guys my hair has never felt

shinier

Stronger longer more voluminous. I have less static. I have less Flyaways

I have also just like less damage in general like less split ends

Which is why I was telling

Kyra this in the first place like because I feel like it really has helped me maintain my hair

But also help it grow thicker and stronger I do think that anybody and everybody could

Benefit from this regardless of your hair type or the condition of your hair and just feel like it will help you achieve

healthier stronger and Longer Hair and

supposedly it helps reduce breakage by over 80% within the first youth

using this for about

Honestly a while over a month like I would say four to six weeks somewhere around that range

And I really really have seen a difference in my hair. I just honestly I've never seen my hair was better

Which is surprising because one I've been growing it out for so long

I had cut my hair up to here at one point

I know crazy times, but I come on hair really short

So I've been growing about since then which honestly it should be a lot more damage

just from that alone because it's so like I've been growing it out for years now, but

The other thing is I just recently dyed my hair

And I thought that it would be more down from that as well, and I have no damage whatsoever

So highly recommend if you're looking for something to help you achieve longer healthier stronger hair

It isn't the most affordable option honestly

So I do want to get you guys a 10% off coupon or a 10% off discount

I don't make any affiliate money off of that

It's really just to benefit you guys

But I will leave their website link down in the description

Box and all you have to do is choose my name at the checkout

And you'll get the 10% off so hopefully you guys enjoy it if you do try it out. Let me know like tweet me

Dm me on Instagram. I try to respond to as many of you guys as possible, so yeah

I definitely let me know if you try this out, and it helps because I really have noticed a difference

And that's kind of like the beginning steps of my personal hair care Routine

So once we're done with this once my hair's air dried like I said I've been my case my hair takes a while to air

dry honestly I feel like

It's taken like one to two hours. They're dry

Just because it's so long now, but then I'll go in with this product right here, so this is the ag smooth

Firewall this product is

Amazing because one it's a heat protectant so again

We're really trying to stay away from the damaged hair especially if you are trying to grow your hair out damage can be detrimental

So this really helps to you know put a pause on that damaged say bye-bye to the damaged

And it also has argan oil in it

so it makes your hair look really really shiny and

Honestly this already makes your hair look shiny to begin with like I just don't have this in yet

And I my hair's already pretty shiny

But with this who?

You're going to be you're going to be glowing your hair is going to be glowing you know so I just like to go ahead

And spray a good amount

I kind of spray it everywhere in the hair and you can see again that adds a lot of shine

and it makes your hair feel really really silky as well not to mention so I do kind of

Concentrate the product a bit at the ends low

And then I'll kind of work it through my hair to get to the top

I don't put it too much right here in the roots. Just because I don't want my hair to look too, oily or greasy

Especially since I just washed it, but at the roots

I mean sorry at the end and through the middle of the hair this stuff is bomb then at this point

I actually go ahead and section off the top part of my hair whoo it is going to soft and smooth right now

I'm not gonna lie so I section it off and just put up with like a little clip like there

You can't really see it, but there you go then it's time to pick up your flat iron this implement

I always use it's the enzo Milano Glow three professional Flatiron if

You're part of the blog spam if you watch my vlogs over on my vlog channel and you saw the one from Imf this year

Me and Michelle honestly got swindled into buying this like it we were so

Shook, but we were genuinely so shook about it, but I will say that it actually is a good flat iron

I like it because it does have settings on it. I don't know if you can see you can see here

It has like heat settings on it

but not only that I actually feel like it does help protect the hair so whatever thing when we got swindled the

Salesperson was literally like it won't damage your hair

It uses steam blah blah blah, and then like all these other random things that when we got home we were kind of like

Is that true like?

There are a lot of other claims

I don't even remember them honestly, but I do feel like it doesn't really damage my hair especially for a hot tool

So I'm pretty happy with it. Not going to lie even though. I was like a little pricey was like a hundred bucks, but um

Okay, I talked them down from 300 so we we golden on that aspect

And I just kind of go at it starting from the back section

moving my way forward and I take about one-inch sections of hair and

Go freely. I would say spend about five to ten seconds each little section of hair if you do have a

Curlier hair or hair with a little bit more texture

You may want to go over each of the sections more than once maybe two or three times depending on the heat of your curling?

Whaaaaat tool or also just depending on the thickness of your hair then we can move to this little top section right here

We've already made our part so that

little parts taken care of already and again

You just kind of want to work from the back to the front going over about

One-Inch section and then once you get to the front section right here

I do this part a little bit differently

I actually take the hair at the root and I straighten it to the opposite side so add in a

diagonal

And then it gives us a really nice shape to the face here, especially if you have a round face like me

I feel like this just kind of frames the face the best as far as when you're wearing your hair straight

And you can see it does really make a difference

in the way the hair looks and feels it just feels very very shiny very silky very soft even

For somebody who naturally has like pretty straight hair

I feel like you can see a difference between this side, and this side this side

Just looks so chic and straight and sleek you know

So I think if you have curly your hair or more textured hair oh my God

It's going to make such a huge difference if you go through this kind of routine and make sure that there's not too much damage

In your hair because that can really make or break a hair style or hair

Look, especially when you're going for something. That's very straight

So I'm going to go ahead and do the other side real quick at this point obviously this guy's limit

You can wear your hair just like this, and I feel like it looks a very chic and sleek and costly very kym

Case you know like I feel like it's very just exactly where's that Chic Sleek long. It's shiny

I hope this helps you guys you know

Learn how I found my hair and also how I get it to be shiny because that's like one of the number one questions

I get asked about my hair is how it's so shiny

And it's honestly so simple you just saw me do it. So that is largely be it for this video

Let me know if you guys want me to do more hair tutorials or hair videos because I'd be down to do that

So we made some comments if you guys want to see this gives wait up if you liked it

And I will see you next time buh

14 Fantastically Healthy Foods For Diabetics - Duration: 11:42.

14 Fantastically Healthy Foods For Diabetics

When you think of managing blood sugar, odds are you obsess over everything you can't have.

While it's certainly important to limit no-no ingredients (like white, refined breads and

pastas and fried, fatty, processed foods), it's just as crucial to pay attention to what

you should eat. We suggest you start here. Numerous nutrition and diabetes experts singled

out these power foods because 1) they're packed with the four healthy nutrients (fiber, omega-3s,

calcium, and vitamin D) that make up our Diabetes DTOUR Diet, and 2) they're exceptionally versatile,

so you can use them in recipes, as add-ons to meals, or stand-alone snacks.

1. Beans Beans have more to boast about than being

high in fiber (plant compounds that help you feel full, steady blood sugar, and even lower

cholesterol; a half cup of black beans delivers more than 7 grams). They're a not-too-shabby

source of calcium, a mineral that research shows can help burn body fat. In ½ cup of

white beans, you'll get almost 100 mg of calcium—about 10% of your daily intake. Beans also make

an excellent protein source; unlike other proteins Americans commonly eat (such as red

meat), beans are low in saturated fat—the kind that gunks up arteries and can lead to

heart disease. How to eat them: Add them to salads, soups,

chili, and more. There are so many different kinds of beans, you could conceivably have

them every day for a week and not eat the same kind twice.

2. Dairy You're not going to find a better source of

calcium and vitamin D—a potent diabetes-quelling combination—than in dairy foods like milk,

cottage cheese, and yogurt. One study found that women who consumed more than 1,200 mg

of calcium and more than 800 IU of vitamin D a day were 33% less likely to develop diabetes

than those taking in less of both nutrients. You can get these nutrients from other foods,

but none combine them like dairy does. Stick to fat-free or low-fat versions of your favorite

dairy foods—"regular" has a lot of saturated fat.

How to eat it: Drink milk with some meals instead of soda or sugary juices, have yogurt

or cottage cheese as a snack or dessert, and use milk to make oatmeal or thicken certain

soups.

3. Salmon Nutritionists can't recommend this seriously

healthy fish enough. It's a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids (3 ounces provides as

much as 1,800 mg), healthy fats that reduce the risk of heart disease, whittle your waistline,

reduce inflammation, and improve insulin resistance. Salmon is also one of the best nondairy sources

of vitamin D around. How to get it: Sauté a salmon fillet for

dinner instead of chicken or meat once or twice a week (it's easy to season and toss

in the oven), or add canned salmon to salads or omelets.

4. Tuna Another amazingly healthy fish, a 3-ounce

piece of tuna contains 1,300 mg of omega-3s and a respectable amount of vitamin D to boot.

But tuna can be high in mercury, a compound that may cause neurological problems in huge

doses. To be safe, buy canned light tuna instead of albacore and limit your tuna intake to

12 ounces a week. How to eat it: Make tuna salad sandwiches,

pile on whole wheat crackers as a snack, or throw steaks on the grill instead of burgers.

5. Barley One of the healthiest grains you're probably

not eating, barley is rich in a specific kind of soluble fiber called beta-glucan. Research

shows beta-glucan can lower total and LDL cholesterol by preventing your body's ability

to absorb it; one review found that consuming just 3 grams a day—about the amount in a

single barley serving—can lower cholesterol by 8%. Thanks to its fiber abundance, barley

can also help steady your blood sugar while filling you up—a weight loss bonus. The

grain even boasts a modest amount of calcium. How to eat it: Look for hulled barley, which

isn't as refined as the pearl barley that supermarkets typically carry (you may need

to visit a health food store). Soak it overnight before cooking, then add to soups, stews,

or rice pilaf.

6. Oats Like barley and beans, oats are a diabetes

power food because of their fiber content—a half cup of instant oats provides 4 g. Research

shows that oat lovers can also lower total and "bad" LDL cholesterol and improve insulin

resistance. All the soluble fiber oats contain slows the rate at which your body can break

down and absorb carbohydrates, which means your blood sugar levels stay stable.

How to eat them: The easiest way is straight from your cereal bowl, but you can also sneak

oats into all kinds of recipes, from pancakes to meat loaf to cookies.

7. Berries Berries are nature's candy—but unlike sugary

confections from the checkout aisle, they're loaded with fiber and antioxidants called

polyphenols. A cup of blackberries supplies 7.6 g of fiber; blueberries contain 3.5 g.

Berries' antioxidants are also good for your ticker: One 2008 study in the American Journal

of Clinical Nutrition found that people with heart disease risk factors who ate berries

for 8 weeks had a drop in blood pressure and a boost in "good" HDL cholesterol.

How to eat them: Wonderful alone, berries are also tasty when stirred into oatmeal,

ice cream, or even salads. Fresh berries freeze well, so if you're not going to eat them right

away, store them in your freezer so you always have some on hand.

8. Dates These chewy fruits aren't much to look at—plain

and brown and a little sticky. But pop one in your mouth and you'll be rewarded with

a sweet taste and delightful texture. Their palate-pleasing nature, combined with a generous

supply of fiber (7 dates supply 4 g), makes them a perfect diabetes-friendly snack. They're

also jam-packed with antioxidants—with more per serving than grapes, oranges, broccoli,

and peppers, according to one study. How to eat them: Stuff dates with pecan or

walnut halves for a satisfying snack, or toss them into breads and cookies.

9. Greens You're probably thinking of lettuce, but this

category of veggie—a staple of Southern cooking—is incredibly diverse, with choices

such as turnip, mustard, and beet greens, as well as chard. All are outstanding sources

of fiber (1 cooked cup of any of the aforementioned supplies between 3 and 6 g) and calcium (100

to 250 mg per cup). Greens may also be good for your heart, thanks to the folate they

contain. This B vitamin appears to lower levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that in high

amounts can raise heart disease risk. Research shows getting 400 mcg of folate a day can

lower homocysteine by 25% (a cup of cooked turnip greens contains 170 mcg).

How to eat them: Unless you've grown up with greens, you may consider them an acquired

taste, but prepared just right, they're delicious! Use them in entrées, sandwiches, and salads.

Or simply toss mustard, collard, or beet greens with artichoke hearts and sauté in olive

oil.

10. Lentils Like their bean cousins, lentils are loaded

with fiber—1 cup cooked contains a whopping 16 g. That same cup also delivers close to

360 mcg of folate, just shy of the 400 that adults need each day. If you're not a meat

person, lentils are a good alternative source of protein; they also contain a variety of

vitamins and minerals. How to eat them: Add to soups and pastas for

extra texture, or enjoy as a side dish in lieu of beans. Feeling more adventurous? Try

a spicy Indian dish that uses lentils as a staple ingredient, like tadka dal, made with

green chiles and garlic.

11. Flaxseed They may be tiny, but the seeds of the flax

plant pack a big health punch. Flaxseed is best known as a source of fiber and alpha-linolenic

acid (ALA), which your body converts to omega-3s EPA and DHA. In several large studies, researchers

have found a link between increased ALA intake and lower odds of heart disease, heart attack,

and other cardiovascular issues. These magic seeds also show promise for lowering cholesterol

and blood sugar. How to eat them: Add ground flaxseed to all

kinds of food, such as oatmeal, low-fat cottage cheese, and fruit smoothies.

12. Walnuts Just 1 ounce of these healthy nuts (about

14 halves) delivers almost 2 g of fiber plus 2.6 g of ALA, the omega-3 precursor. But you

get about 185 calories in that same ounce, so count out a proper portion if you're watching

your weight. How to eat them: Aside from a stand-alone

snack, chopped walnuts make a great topping for salad and add a bit of crunch to cookies

and brownies.

13. Runner-Up: Peanut butter Believe it or not, some studies have linked

peanut butter to reduced diabetes risk. The fiber content (2 tablespoons has almost 2

g) may have something to do with it. And since this classic comfort food contains mostly

monounsaturated fat, it's considered heart healthy. The calories are on the high side,

however, so pay attention to the serving size.

14. Runner-Up: Dark chocolate Rich in antioxidant flavonoids, this deceptively

decadent sweet may help improve your good and bad cholesterol and reduce your blood

pressure. One ounce contains 136 calories and 8.5 g of fat, so nibble just a little.

A great combination: shaved or melted dark chocolate over raspberries or strawberries

for a light and healthy dessert.

Tanakh: the Jewish word for Bible - Duration: 0:50.

hey, Sarah here! So usually when Jews talk about the Bible they're talking about

the Torah - the five books of Moses plus nineteen other books that together make

up the Hebrew Bible or Torah. This is to distinguish the book from what non-jews

call just plain, the Bible, which includes a New Testament... so

Jewish pro tip: Old Testament is not usually a term that Jewish people use because it

assumes the existence of later holy text. Introducing the word Tanakh

it's an acronym it stands for Torah - the five books of Moses- Neviim- the books of

the prophets like Joshua Jeremiah and Isaiah - and Ketuvim -

Or Writings... this is the Book of Ruth the book of Esther proverbs Psalms all

together they make up Tanakh and it's a Jewish way to say Bible.

When the Doctor Plays Favorites - Your Practice Ain't Perfect - Joe Mull - Duration: 4:42.

I recently delivered a half-day workshop

on motivating employees to a multi-site practice

group where I met Beth, a talented,

dedicated office manager who is very frustrated.

She has, on her team, a Medical Assistant who has ingratiated herself to one of the

partner physicians over the years and, as a result, is seen as infallible by that doctor.

This MA now gets to play by a different set of rules than everyone else.

Whenever Beth gives her an assignment, or declines a PTO request, or tries to hold her

accountable in any other way, the MA runs to the doctor, who says to the MA,

"Don't worry about it."

This is a story I hear over and over again from healthcare managers at all levels.

So don't go anywhere, because in this episode of "Your Practice Ain't Perfect",

I'll tell you what to do when the doctor plays favorites.

Let's go…

Let's be clear, the problem in this scenario isn't the MA.

It's the doctor.

More specifically, this doctor is undermining Beth's ability to lead her team and hold

people accountable.

One thing Beth should do is TELL THE STORY.

Often the physician is simply unaware of the whole story or how the employee is taking

advantage of their relationship.

Beth needs to sit down with her doc and spell out the timeline and series of events.

Say "The employee came to me, I gave her this answer, then she came to you and got

a different answer, and now she doesn't call in the labs", or whatever it is that

this person's not doing.

"The rest of the staff is irritated because they think she's getting special treatment."

Then, and this is key, ask for advice.

Ask him or her, "How should we handle this?"

Hopefully you're not going to have to say, "When you do this, you're killing me, man!"

Many doctors are gonna see that via your story.

They're going to apologize, and they will work to prevent it from happening again.

Now, sometimes you will have to sit across from this person and say, "You're killing

me, man!" which leads me to our second strategy: TELL THE TRUTH.

Sit down with your physician and say, respectfully, I've noticed a pattern with this person.

When I try to hold them to the policies and standards that everyone else is expected to

follow, they run to you and get let off the hook.

Be sure to have plenty of examples when you have this conversation, and it's okay to

let your frustration show, but be hyper-specific about what you need them to do in the future.

Say, "When this person comes to you, ask her, 'What did Beth say?' then, regardless

of her answer, tell her 'this sounds like something you should take up with Beth.'"

Ask your doctors to commit to re-directing that employee every single time.

Last but not least for today, pick your battles.

If one of your doctors continues to play favorites, you may have to decide what things you can

live with and what is unacceptable.

Whatever you decide to tackle, always detail how the doctor's favoritism is harmful to

something they care deeply about: patient experience, staying on time, revenue, etc.

And if you find yourself in a situation where you simply cannot do your job because your

ability to lead is constantly undermined, you may have to stand up and move on.

Remember, when an employee goes to a physician to complain or ask for an exception to something,

these accomplished professionals who are used to being decisive and want to make their staff

happy, say "sure" or "don't worry about that" because it feels good to give

an inch on something that feels inconsequential in the moment.

So talk with your doctors directly about the ways in which it IS consequential and tell

them exactly what you need from them to succeed in the future.

If your doctors trust and respect you, they will be happy to comply.

They may also need you to keep reminding them from time to time.
