2018 Volkswagen Passat review - Duration: 7:26.

My last encounter with a Volkswagen Passat was in a midrange SE model.

And while it was totally serviceable as Point-A-to-Point-B family transportation, with under-the-radar

looks and only competent handling it really lacked any standout traits.

But now, Volkswagen now offers a sporty Passat GT.

Do its tighter handling characteristics and standard V6 power provide a memorable motoring

experience?

More aggressive looks Compared to cars like the Ford Fusion, Honda

Accord and Mazda6, the milquetoast Passat is like the manila folder of the midsize sedan

segment.

To liven up the normally bland sedan, the GT gets the R-Line model's more aggressive

bumpers, honeycomb grille inserts, red line accents à la GTI and exclusive 19-inch Tornado-style

wheels.

For more contrast, a black-painted roof, rear lip spoiler and red brake calipers add a few

more bits of visual flair.

The changes seem to work -- my Platinum Grey Metallic test car receives many a compliment

from some of my car-critical friends.

Inside, the GT alterations include black leatherette seats with gray inserts, a mixture of carbon-fiber

pattern and piano-black trim, a black headliner and aluminum sill plates.

Those additions join a fancy leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel, heated front seats

and dual-zone climate controls.

There's also a deep trunk capable of swallowing 15.9 cubic feet of stuff.

Simple tech Those looking for a huge helping of center-stack

technology will be underwhelmed by the GT's Composition Media infotainment system that

includes a 6.3-inch touchscreen, adequate six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth and satellite

radio.

You won't find onboard navigation, but thankfully Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink

capabilities are standard.

To juice up smart devices, there are only two USB ports -- one in front and one in back.

The touchscreen's response times are decent, and you can move through the system's different

menus in a reasonably quick fashion.

However, a compact screen means smaller icons, which in turn means more eyes-off-the-road

time while doing simple tasks like changing radio stations. On the safety tech front, the

standard list isn't giant, but includes key features like forward collision warning with

automatic emergency braking to provide an additional safety net for the times you might

get distracted by something like, say, the infotainment screen.

Handy systems like blind-spot monitoring and a backup camera with rear cross-traffic alert

are also included.

An entertaining driver The final piece of the Passat GT package comes

in the performance department with suspension upgrades and light revision to the V6 drivetrain.

Stiffer shocks and springs lower the ride height by about half an inch, and when combined

with the larger 19-inch wheels and all-season tires, the end result is a Passat with noticeably

sharper handling.

Cornering exercises reveal brisk turn-in response, and though there's a touch of body roll, the

suspension mostly keeps the Passat hunkered down in turns.

Make no mistake, the GT isn't something you'll want to slap numbers on and take to your local

track day.

Like most front-wheel-drive family sedans, understeer presents itself if you get too

enthusiastic, and despite the crisp turn-in response, the steering action is far too light.

For a slightly more engaging drive on twisty back roads, the GT does just fine -- it's

a sporty car, but not a sports car.The good news is that handling improvements don't come

at the expensive of daily ride comfort.

Even with the stiffer suspension, there's still enough play in the dampers to soften

pavement imperfections.

There are no annoying tire noise issues with from the wider rubber, either.

Powering the Passat GT is a 3.6-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque,

and a GT-specific performance exhaust gives this familiar powerplant a slightly deeper

soundtrack.

This engine pairs with a quick-shifting six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the

steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters don't suffer from any sloppy, low-speed operation

issues.

Throttle response at tip-in is instant with linear power building throughout the rev band.

The only strike against the V6 drivetrain is its subpar fuel economy.

The Passat GT is estimated to achieve 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which

puts it below V6-powered competitors like the Nissan Altima (22 mpg city and 32 mpg

highway) and Toyota Camry (22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway). How I'd spec it

Before the arrival of the GT, the Passat wasn't even on my midsize sedan radar.

It was simply too forgettable, but the light styling tweaks and better handling reflexes

do pump a little life into VW's long-in-tooth midsize sedan.

With that said, make my Passat the GT with a Platinum Grey Metallic paint job.

Since the GT trim doesn't offer any additional option packages, I'll get everything you see

here for a very competitive $29,995, which includes $850 for destination.

This sub-$30K price is worth noting -- previously, the only way to get a Passat with V6 power

was to opt for the SEL Premium trim that starts at $35,500.

With the GT, you have to forgo leather seats, a premium Fender audio system, additional

safety technologies and a few other niceties that are bundled into the SEL Premium trim,

but the GT's standard list of features and better handling chops are enough to keep me

happy.A crowded field The GT is a nice addition to the Passat range,

but it's not the only sporty midsize sedan out there.

Ford offers the Fusion Sport with 325 horsepower and all-wheel drive, and Honda has the Accord

Sport that's available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Kia battles the Passat GT with the sporty-looking Optima SX and Toyota has the V6-powered Camry

SE.

Does the Volkswagen Passat GT stand a chance against all of those?

With a naturally aspirated V6, dual-clutch gearbox, well-sorted chassis and crisp looks,

I think it has a shot at winning some people over.

That's a big change for a car I never gave a second thought to before now.

The Best Wiper Blades in the World and Why - Duration: 4:03.

rev up your engines

today I'm going to talk about the best wiper blades and why they are the best

wiper blades, welcome to mechanic Monday, and as usual

I'm telling you the truth about stuff, no one's sponsoring this except the

truth, I've tried out various types of wiper blades over the years, and I've

come to one conclusion, the best wiper blades are silicone wiper blades and to

understand why, here's a history lesson, in 1903 Mary Anderson invented the car

wiper blade, now the original wiper blades are made of natural rubber, which

whites water off pretty good, but it's got one major disadvantage, in the heat

and the Sun, the rubber deteriorates relatively quickly, and then you got to

buy another blade, so then later they came out with synthetic rubber blades

and added some graphite to the mix to make them last longer, but the graphite

sometimes makes noise, if you notice when you're driving and it's just the light

rain, a lot of times you hear these noises, that's the graphite kind of

rubbing on your windshield and make a noise, but then they came out with

silicone wiper blades years ago, they did cost a lot more a long time ago, because

they were kind of not mass-produced all that much, but today because a lot less

than they used to, they still might cost twice as much, but hey they can last four,

five, six, ten times longer than the rubber ones do, I don't have the car

anymore, but I used to have a 1981 Toyota Corolla sr5 and I put a set of silicone

wiper blades on it, and after ten years they were still the same blades and they

still wiped good, silicone is just a stronger longer-lasting material, years

ago, I put a silicone valve cover gasket on my Toyota here, which originally came

with a rubber gasket, but when I found out these silicone ones are supposed to

last longer, I put in a silicone one, now I had to change the old rubber valve cover

gaskets every three four or five years, they would start leaking, but the silicone

ones been in there for more than ten years and it's still not leaking, so it's

still a better material, now the main enemies of wiper blades are ultraviolet

rays of the Sun, heat, and dirt in our atmosphere

it destroys rubber much faster than it destroys silicon, and silicon wiper

blades have an added benefit, as they wipe they actually leave little

residues of silicone, which is waterproof and it actually makes your wipers work

better over time, instead of worse like rubber that leaves deposits that make it

harder to wipe, now of course to make them last as long as they can, you want

to keep your windshield relatively clean, because dirt creates friction and

that's going to wear out even silicon blades over time, but the silicon blades

hey another reason they last longer is, they retain their pliability longer than

the rubber do, and they can handle extremes of temperatures better than the

rubber can too, so if you live in a really hot place, or you live in a really

cold place, these silicone wiper blades they're going to last longer and work

better then rubber ones are, a few years back I went to an auto parts store, and I

went to the manager and said you know I've been trying out these silicone

blades they work pretty good, how come you guys don't sell them here, and the

manager, who was no fool, said Scotty we sell thousands of rubber wiper blades

every month in the store, if we were to sell silicone wiper blades over time our

sales would just go down to almost nothing, so you might have to search

around a little to find good silicone wiper blades, but with the internet

and amazon, 2-day free shipping, you can find it just about anywhere and have

them sent to your house, and since this is a mechanic's Monday, I'm giving away a

set of silicone wiper blades, to have a chance to win, just put a clean non

offensive comment in the YouTube comments below, and a computer will randomly pick

a winner, so if you never want to miss another one

of my new car repair videos, remember to ring that Bell!

My last encounter with a Volkswagen Passat was in a midrange SE model.

More aggressive looks Compared to cars like the Ford Fusion, Honda

Should Canada lower its voting age to 16? | 22 Minutes - Duration: 2:30.

Canada's election chief has recommended lowering the voting age to sixteen.

But can we put our future in the sweaty palms of the pube-etariat?

Who can't fill out a bra, let-alone a ballot.

Joining us, fresh from a diaper-change is Petra Smith;

a Gen-Zer who wants the next Prime Minister to be Rihanna riding in on avocado toast.

- That'd be awesome-sauce.

- And fresh from his 4PM dinner, John Gray, a pile of glasses-dandruff who wouldn't know

a hashtag from a skin-tag!

Let's start with you Petra-- - If she'll stay off her phone for a minute!

- Phones help youth stay engaged...

- Which is code for sexting of course, something Mr. Gray wouldn't understand!

The last thing he probably sexted was the word, "boobs" on a calculator!

- A what?

- Mr. Gray, you were about to wax nostalgic about helping

your Momma birth your fourteen siblings in a grain elevator.

- Yeah, we worked hard.

Kids these days, they can't vote.

They're too lazy.

And gimme, gimme-- - Yeah.

Says the guy who's pension debt I'll have to pay off.

- Oh!

Sorry, Petra, maybe in your attachment parenting

yurt, you can unlatch from Mother's teat to screech goo-goo ga-ga, but here on this show

we take turns.

- Well so what, my mom still pumps for me?

Humans aren't designed to drink cow's milk.

- I haven't been this offended... and aroused since I was in Vegas for a toastmaster's

convention, and I seen a billboard of RuPaul.

- Back to you PetSmart - - Petra --

- My turn!

I get an early ballot, and I put an 'X' next to the man's name;

and if there's more than one man's name, I choose the one with the least foreign letters.

- Oh wow, that's racist and vile, and I'm social media shaming you.

- Well if you don't like racist, vile men - you won't care much for politics.

- Oh, oh there you have it!

The crusty bigot who would happily reneg a woman's right to vote and the socially inept

justice warrior triggered by the mere concept of gender.

Goodnight!

Coming Out Everyday, Gender and Sexuality Without Limits: Mic Oala - Duration: 11:32.

- Can you talk a little bit about how you feel right now?

- I'm a bit nervous, more than I expected,

to talk about personal things, and especially,

it's not my mother language, and this is also

something I'm a bit nervous about,

but also I'm excited to do it.

- Can you talk a little bit about what you think

your style says about you?

- It's rather unisex, what I'm wearing.

I don't wear so much dresses, but rather, pants,

onesies, and suits.

I identify as gender queer, so in a way,

that I don't know what gender is, actually.

For me, it's rather like one day I feel a bit more

dudish (laughs), another day I feel more girly,

and I don't want to limit myself or be limited

when it comes to these so-called gender expressions.

- Did you always feel as though you were gender fluid?

- No, at a certain point I thought I have to act

according my gender and according the expectations

people have, and I think I did it for quite a long time,

but within the last years, especially in the queer

community, I have many trans friends, and they all

encouraged me to be more myself and doing what

I want to do, dressing up like I want to dress up,

not giving a fuck about expectations of others.

I believe that we learn and unlearn our whole lifetime,

but I think I became much more aware of many things

within the last, I would say, yeah,

five years.

When I was very young, I used to identify as multisexual.

I didn't know about the term pansexual, and I didn't

know about any more genders than male and female.

I try to be quite heteronormative at least

when it comes to the perception of other people

to protect my son a lot.

Because I was a single mom, also I became a mother

at quite a young age, at least, I was 20.

Now I am 45 and the kids can take care of themselves,

the more I can also take care of myself.

- You couldn't explore it when you were raising them?

- I did explore it, I just hide it, like my whole sex life

and love life was very private.

Also, because I didn't want to confuse my kids,

I tried to protect my kids by

not showing off my queerness.

Because as a very young, single mom, you go to

these evenings at school where every parents come there,

and the others were married.

And I thought it's already hard enough for my kids

to not be able to represent a

perfect family.

Other women were looking at me, whether with pity,

or with surprise, but it really shocked me

and it still shocks me sometimes, how conservative

people are.

- Can you take off your backpack?

- Yes. (rustling)

- So can you talk about either your biggest struggle

slash insecurity?

- I used to have health problems, so I had several

tumors, one in my uterus, one in my thyroid,

and then some suspicious looking things on my skin,

and it always turned out to be negative,

so it wasn't cancer.

And I realized that I'm very,

very afraid of being sick,

to depend on other people's help, and even worse,

depending on medicines.

And I cannot really say I have overcome this anxiety.

When I had this first diagnose, my son was already 18.

Of course, also with 18, you're not really ready

to let your mom go, but at least you don't depend

on foster parents or these kinds of things anymore.

And then I thought about myself.

I really had an intensive life, I had kids at an early age,

I traveled a lot, I've met so many great people,

and I realized, "Wow, if you only become 40,

"then you have probably experienced more

"than other people in 70 years, so there's actually no

"need to be like this, 'oh, I don't want to die,

"'I don't want to die.'"

My mom is right now currently in that hell,

which makes... yeah...

which is...

which is hard for all of us, and of course

the most for herself.

They found a tumor, and it's already quite big.

It was a huge shock for all of us, and then she started

quickly with the chemotherapy.

The side effects of the chemotherapy are very hard,

and she almost died a few times from the side effects.

Yeah, and it makes me sad, it makes me almost angry

that she's doing it.

And then, on the other hand, I feel bad about myself

because who am I to judge about this at all?

It's not my body.

It's her body, it's her cancer, it's her way

to deal with it,

but it's hard for me to watch.

- Jacket.

(rustling)

Sexuality, and parenthood, and kids, still for me

is a quite complicated thing.

It's not only that I wasn't out, that other parents

shouldn't know, but also, my son didn't know about it.

And I really thought it's a good thing to protect him.

And the funny thing is-

- But did you even fully know?

You know what I mean, like did you know?

You did, okay.

- I knew always, yeah.

- But you thought that it was better to protect him?

- I thought not only it was better to protect him.

It was also easier for me.

It was just one issue less I had to deal with.

My parents are really super ... how do you say it?

They try not to be judgmental.

They have never been parents like, "How can you do this?"

But of course, I could feel

that they were kind of disappointed at my sisters and me.

None of us got married.

I remember one day that my dad said something to me,

"You know, I just want you to be happy and safe

"because one day I cannot be there for you anymore."

And then I realized something like, ooh, this is

how traditional

and conservative this thought actually is,

that the father gives the daughter in the hands

of another man who then keeps on taking care.

This was quite a moment, this little sentence,

and it's still stuck in my head.

And I still think my parents are not disappointed

in the way that we failed their expectations,

but they are worried about us.

Of course, it hurt me, because I thought,

"What do you think, that I need a man to take care

"of me or to be happy?"

In Berlin, we have a quite thriving queer community here,

and it's also very, I would say very active community

also when it comes to things like politics.

I mean, I believe this is also part of queerness,

is to be political about your own queerness

and about body issues, gender issues, and all these things.

I make mistakes.

I sometimes do misgender people.

My language is still not on a level I want it to be,

and I just have to sit down, and I have to look up words,

and I have to find alternatives for things I used to,

for words I used to use

for 40 years now.

- Does this come off?

- Yeah.

Since my kids are grown up, it's like there is more space

for a partner in my life.

I still don't trust myself, in a way that, I don't know

if I can love somebody for 20 years

because I've never experienced this.

Queerness has also taught me or has taken away

the fear of relationships because it gives so much

more freedom and it's not attached to,

"I have to behave a certain way."

I think it's liberating, and I'm not afraid

of relationships so much anymore.

- When is the last time you cried?

- Last night.

I was on the phone with my mom.

So I called her to check, "How's it going?"

And since she got the diagnose, we talk a lot.

And also with my dad, I call them regularly,

like almost every day.

And at a certain point, I realized they don't ask me,

anymore, how I am doing.

I feel guilty, right in this moment when I'm talking

about it, because I think, "Yeah, how can you be

"so selfish, Mic?

"She's suffering from cancer.

"Of course the whole family focuses on this now.

"You're 45 years old."

But then again, there's also the little Mic, the kid,

the daughter, and I just miss that my parents

ask me how I'm doing.

And yesterday my mom asked me how I'm doing,

and we talked about it.

I had to cry afterwards because I'm not ready

to not be a kid anymore and not to have parents anymore.

- When do you feel the most beautiful?

- When I have very good sex. (laughs)

Like, when I feel really desired physically,

but also when I dress up, over the top,

like sequins, half-naked, yeah.

Then I feel fierce and beautiful.

Like this?

- Yeah.

- Okay.

- How do you feel now?

- I feel good.

I feel good, and I don't feel naked. (laughs)

I feel very comfortable, but also because of you all.

You really create a very ... (laughs) comfortable

atmosphere here.

I feel safe.

- That's awesome, thank you. - Thank you.

- That was beautiful, thank you so, so much.

- Thank you. - I'm going to take pictures

of you before you go, so don't get dressed.

The Truth About The Big Show - Duration: 5:58.

After more than 20 years of chokeslams, it seems the Big Show is hanging up his singlet

for good.

In March 2017, the World's Largest Athlete told Sports Illustrated he was preparing to

retire in February 2018.

That, plus the news that his hip surgery didn't go as well as he'd hoped, makes it look like

the Show will soon be ready for a curtain call.

In honor of his Hall of Fame-worthy career, let's explore parts of Big Show's past you

might not know about.

"Y'know some people say it's tough being a Big Show, but I gotta tell ya, it has its

advantages"

He could've been Like Mike

It's clear Big Show can wrestle, but it might shock you to learn he knows his way around

a basketball court.

In high school and college, Big Show (going by his real name, Paul Wight stood 7'1" and

weighed 325 pounds.

He won a division title his freshman year with Northern Oklahoma Junior College, then

transferred to Division I Wichita State University, but, according to Sports Illustrated, suffered

injuries and multiple benchings for being, quote, "an arrogant S.O.B."

Years of fame as a WWE superstar have probably soothed the sting of not making the NBA.

The truth about his size

Big Show didn't become a giant from eating all his vegetables.

As a young kid, Show contracted gigantism: involving a tumor that infects the pituitary

gland, causing a rapid increase in growth hormone.

In Show's case, he was 6'2" by age 12, according to Slam Sports.

While his height certainly helped him as an athlete, it could have cost him his life.

In adults, gigantism can become deadly.

Legendary wrestler Andre the Giant had the same disease, which ultimately killed him

at age 46.

Luckily for Show, he underwent surgery to remove the tumor in 1991, leaving him with

all the size and none of the life-threatening side effects.

All thanks to Danny Bonaduce

Big Show made it to the WCW with virtually no training and literally zero independent

wrestling experience.

He got in thanks to a good word from, of all people, Danny Bonaduce of The Partridge Family.

As Big Show told Chris Jericho on Y2J's podcast, he trained at Larry Sharpe's Monster Factory.

Sharpe, however, was never there due to health issues, and nobody taught Show much, except

for how to lock up and run the ropes.

Frustrated, Show left the Monster Factory and started working with a karaoke company.

One day, they were working Bonaduce's morning radio show in Chicago, and Bonaduce was clearly

impressed with Show's size.

He invited the big man to be his "secret partner" in a charity basketball game against Hulk

Hogan and Mr. T.

The connection paid off, as Big Show went from working karaoke gigs to main-eventing

wrestling pay-per-views virtually overnight.

A case of mistaken identity

Big Show started his wrestling career in 1995, but didn't enter the WWE until 1999...thanks

to one of the silliest cases of mistaken identity in scouting history.

As Show recounted to Chris Jericho, he was working as a bouncer when WWE (then-WWF) ref

Mike Chioda was at the bar Show was working at, and Show handed Chioda a tape, which Chioda

passed on to WWE agent Pat Patterson.

Sadly, that gesture went nowhere — simply because Patterson thought Show was another

giant entirely: a wrestler named Robert Maillet whom Patterson had no interest in signing

at the time.

Months later, Show was signed by the WCW and immediately thrust into a main-event feud

with Hulk Hogan.

That, says Show, is how Patterson learned of his big whoopsie.

No Shaq Attack

Though you may not have heard about it on WWE TV, Big Show was hustling behind the scenes

for an epic match for WrestleMania 33 against NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal.

Show would even regularly call out Shaq on social media by detailing his intense Mania

workout.

But depending on who you talk to, the match never happened for a few different reasons.

Big Show claimed Shaq was getting fat, saw Show getting stronger, and got cold feet.

That said, Show told Sporting News he was simply "talking trash."

Meanwhile, Shaq blamed WWE on his podcast for waffling.

Finally, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio it was

a money issue — WWE simply wouldn't pay Shaq what he wanted, so he bailed.

The only thing we know for sure is that Big Show versus Shaq might be the greatest WrestleMania

match to never happen.

Too big for Big Show

By 2000, Big Show had won multiple world championships and had headlined that year's WrestleMania.

But even so, the WWF demoted him to its minor league system, Ohio Valley Wrestling.

His weight was a big reason why, as he told Slam Sports.

While recovering from knee surgery he ate too much and maxed out at 480 pounds.

Show worked hard to get back to the WWF, losing weight and getting his career back on track

... but a few years later, there was another weight-related setback.

Show found himself getting far too big again.

This time, as he told WWE.com, he took it upon himself to drop weight and get into the

best shape of his life.

He's since lost over 70 pounds and has wisely set himself up for a long, healthy life away

from the ring.

Showtime for the Big Show

Big Show isn't the first wrestler to appear in movies and TV, but he might be among the

most prolific, due to his striking size and decent acting ability.

Over the years, Show appeared in movies like Jingle All The Way and The Waterboy.

In 2010, he landed a starring role in WWE Films' Knucklehead.

It wasn't a critical success, but Show was as entertaining as ever.

He even cameoed in the music video for Sisqo's "Thong Song."

Clearly, Big Show's a natural on camera, so even with his WWE contract officially expiring

as of March 2018, most likely, the Show will go on for a long, long time.

How Several Generations Affect Hair Loss Heredity, and Why Transplant isn't the Initial Treatment - Duration: 10:04.

Thank you for your question.

You submitted your question without a photo. And you're asking actually a very common

question and the question you're asking is can you prevent balding by undergoing hair

transplant even though both your mother side and father side of the family have strong

history of hair loss. Well, I can certainly answer this question even without your photo

since a question like this comes up every day in my practice.

A little bit of background, I'm a Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial

plastic and reconstructive surgeon. I have been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island

for over 20 years. I am also the founder of TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration Centers. This

is a system we developed as a non-surgical solution to help men and women with genetic

pattern hair loss who are progressively thinning and have an opportunity to do something about

that non-surgically. And this is a system that we developed doing hair transplant. And

what we were doing was, we trying to use a material called Acellular matrix combined

with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and we were able to find that not only were the hair transplants

healing better but also thinning hair became thicker and I'll discuss some more details

about that later on.

So to begin with, it's important for you to also determine whether or not you are experiencing

any significant hair loss. You know, a lot of times patients come to us who have family

histories where both sides of the family have very good hair and yet they have significant

hair loss. And it's pretty much the issue. It's not just the immediate family that

you can see and it's generations preceding that can contribute to your genetic complement.

And therefore, it is certainly not necessarily an absolute that because both sides of your

family have significant histories of hair loss that you're guaranteed to have hair

loss but the probability is fairly high.

Now that being said, I can certainly share with you the experiences of many people who

come to us and come to us from around the world for treatment who specifically tried

the strategy of having hair transplant as a way to address hair loss from a very early

age. We've had patients who've gotten hair transplant as early as age 20. And unfortunately,

they still continued to progress and I think it was very strange for them to get a transplant

at such as young age but more importantly, the counseling of a patient about the level

of improvement as well as the longevity of that improvement with hair transplant is critical.

As a general rule of thumb, we don't recommend hair transplant for anyone who is under the

age of 30. And it has to do essentially with the different levels of aggressiveness of

hair loss progression. We have patients who come to us who say to us that, let's say

in their 40s, and they say that they started losing hair in their 20s and they can have

just moderate amount of hair loss. Comparably, we have patients who are already 30 and they

started losing hair in their 20s and they're practically bald. And so what you have are

different levels of aggressiveness of progression.

And so my position is to be proactive and don't go for a surgical solution as your

first-line of treatment. It is arguable that people who have gotten hair transplant at

a relatively young age and even if they kept on doing it, they went for a second transplant,

they went for a third transplant. Eventually what happens is, their donor area runs out.

Yes, some people may have thick body hair and they may be candidates for body hair transplantation

but I basically explain, you have to look at the geometry that the top of the scalp

has a large surface area and the donor area is considerably smaller. Therefore, there's

a mismatch between the source and the place where you can transplant hair.

So my position and as someone who has done hair transplants for a long time, with Hair

Regeneration, I found essentially an important, for a large group of patients, a window of

opportunity while the hair is thinning to be able to manage their hair loss progression

by essentially, depending on the patient, use technologies or systems to reduce the

rate of progression such with a pharmaceutical like finasteride and stimulate hair growth.

With Hair Regeneration, we have learned that we can reactivate hair that's not growing.

And this is a typical manifestation of progression of thinning. When hair is thinning, the hair

growth cycle gets shorter and the resting phases get longer. So in a given time, a lot

more hair is in a resting phase. So when we come along and do our treatment, a lot of

those hairs get reactivated and that's what the regrowth part is. We can't regrow hair

that's not there. And further, we're able to thicken thinning hairs and prolong the

lifespan and growth cycle of those hairs.

And we have been able to have a range of patients who have gotten benefit for years and years

after a single injection treatment but recognizing over the course of 8 years that there is a

range of level of aggressiveness amongst different patients, that we've developed a classification

system and that classification factors in current age, age of onset of hair loss, degree

of progression, rate of progression, other pharmaceuticals and other interventions patients

have undergone and other medical variables. And essentially, we figured out a treatment

plan.

So for a lot of patients especially if they're younger, I explain that it's better to delay

hair transplant for as long as possible. The outcomes of hair transplant and limitation

of hair transplant in a way is almost designed really to help people who are in the 40s and

older because with the smaller amount of areas that you can cover, the appearance can be

more consistent or age-appropriate as opposed to the desired outcomes of younger people.

So I think it is very important to understand this one principle. Hair loss is progressive

and a strategy that you want to employ given the limitations of technology is a management

strategy and a strategy where the outcome is to maximize coverage for as long as possible.

So learn more about pharmaceutical treatment as well as this new classification of regenerative

medicine technology that we can certainly take a lot of credit for helping establish.

And I think you'll find that there are other options to employ more strategically before

taking the step towards a hair transplant.

So I hope that was helpful, I wish you the best of luck and thank you for your question.

Get More Creative Photos! Mura Masa What If I Go Effect w/ Lensball - Duration: 12:41.

Mura Masa What If I Go Effect

what is up people it is a beautiful Thursday afternoon

no it's definitely the morning still feeling that a little too hard and I'm

out here just outside of kind of downtown ish Edmonton Megan had an

appointment so I figured I would come out and try and get some cool shots

I need something to fill up my Instagram so I thought how can I make this

creative how can I do something a little bit different and recently conch who

we've met in the vlog before showed me this cool effect that's happening right

now in a lot of music videos it's an effect that's seen in Mura Masa music

video for what if I go or if you prefer to watch a music video with a whole lot

more butts in it then you can watch broccoli by DRAM so me and conch the

other day tried to shoot one of these but without the actual equipment that is

typically used for this and this is how it turned out

so as you can see the general idea is that your subject is kind of staying

still and it's almost like it's almost like the bullet time from the matrix

where like the camera is kind of moving around the subject but because they're

still it looks like time is kind of frozen and then it's also got the kind

of boomerang thing that we see a lot on Instagram where it's an animated thing

going back and forth so I found a cool way that I can do that without actually

having to have the original equipment that it required so I figured I'd double

up on creativity I come out downtown I try and get some shots like that but

then also add the lens ball into it last week I posted my first photo using the

lens ball and people were really loving it so I thought there's got to be a way

that I can combine the Mura Masa 3d picture effect with the lens ball so

that's what we're gonna try today but before we do any of that we got to

get breakfast

we're just chilling in the car before Megan's hair appointment she is tiny and

fits with her feet up on the dash how was breakfast

anyway back to the photography stuff when Conch showed me that effect of

course I did what any sane person would do and I went straight to YouTube to

figure out how the heck it was done I found this video that was a Justin Odisho

show video where he explained that it's actually a specific camera

it's an old film camera from the 80s then it's got four different exposures

on the piece of film so it's actually taking four side-by-side pictures at the

same time and when you take those pictures and you put them in sequence in

a video sequence or an animated gif sequence then you get that cool effect

where it kind of has like this parallax so the subject in the foreground isn't

moving but the whole background kind of feels like it is little tough to explain

but it feels like 3d space so what I hope to accomplish is to actually get

that same effect but with the lens ball cuz you see all sorts a lens ball photos

so I just kind of wanted to try and get a little bit more creative with the lens

ball effect

so first I'm going to try and get a shot of Wayne here with the effect before I

introduce the lens ball so the way that I do this is that I try and mimic the

four shots that you would get with the old eighties camera the beauty of the

eighties camera is it takes the four shots at exactly the same time so you're

actually totally freezing time so if you have something that's moving fast it's

gonna totally freeze it in my case I can't quite get that same effect but

what I can do is if I have a subject that's standing still like I don't know

a statue or something like that or like in the example of conch I just got him

to stand really still and so it kind of looks like you're getting the four shots

at the same time then I set my camera like the high-speed shooting so I think

it takes like 11 frames per second or something like that so once you set your

camera to take the shots in succession like that you just have to move your

camera slightly so that it looks like the four different shots that it would

be taking with that old camera so we're gonna try that now

can't feel my fingers that's so friggin cold out here like minus 12 degrees

Celsius and I didn't bring gloves like a genius so I think I got my shot of Wayne

so next I'm gonna try and get there's this cool background here I've used it

before for another photo shoot that I'm gonna try and bust out the lensball

see if I can get something

my plan was definitely to be out here a little bit longer get a couple more

shots but that's gonna have to do because I actually can't feel my hands

right now so okay so the bad news is that I might lose a finger or two from

freezing but the good news is that I'm now inside Rogers place the arena here

and things are warming up a little bit and I found a cool spot to try and take

another set of photos so I'm gonna try and get one more lens ball 3d thing here

and then I'm gonna head back

all right I think I got some cool shots some of Wayne here a couple of the cool

overpass thing and then some from inside so let's head back home and I'll tell

you guys how I edit these guys up

and we're back cleaned myself up a little bit

ready to go I have the files all imported into the computer so now it's

just a matter of actually taking them and making that animation out of them so

step number one is going to be to edit them however you want so if you're happy

with the files the way that they came out of the camera great if not then pull

them into Lightroom or whatever editing software you use edit them up just make

sure that you don't crop anything differently from one photo to the next

in the sequence and try and edit them all the same too so the way that I do

that is in Lightroom I'll edit one of the photos in the sequence and then I'll

just sync the settings across the whole sequence so they all have the same thing

I export all of them in the sequence even though there's like 20 of them we're

only and gonna end up using probably four or five of them I'll export all of

them put them in a folder and then we're gonna pull them into Adobe Premiere to

do the actual animation of it so assuming that you've got the editing

side of it done let's go into Adobe Premiere and I'll show you how this is

done waiting for premiere to open

okay so I've imported all the photos into

Adobe Premiere and I've put them in their own folder so I can find them easy

now I'm basically just gonna go through and pick my favorite four or five photos

that I think will make the best animation usually what I'm looking for

here is the subject in the center of the view and I'm gonna make that kind of the

middle photo so I'll pick two photos on either side so we'll end up with five -

before - after and then the one in the middle once I pick the photos that I

like the best I'm gonna drag one down to start a new sequence and then actually

delete that and then drag in the five that I want making sure that I start

with the first one so that they're in sequential order once I get them all in

I'm gonna highlight them all and hit command + R and that

will bring up the clip speed slash duration and this is going to allow me

to set each of those clips to a certain length so what you want to do is make

sure you click the little link to unlink the speed and duration and then what

you're gonna do is type in one frame and click the ripple edit shifting trailing

clips now what this is gonna do it's gonna set each clip each photo to one

frame long and then it's going to make sure it snaps them all together so

there's not a bunch of space in between we're gonna zoom in so we can see it and

then to make the loop effect happen what we're gonna do is we're gonna take the

second last one and copy it holding option and dragging it we're gonna copy

it to the end and the third last one copy it to the end and the fourth last

one or the second one to the end so now we should have a full loop we don't copy

the last one or the first one because those are the ones that it's looping on

you don't want there to be two frames in a row of the same thing so we should

have a total of eight frames going on here and so if you want to check the

loop you can actually add loop to your options on your program panel by going

into this little extra menu and then you can turn on the loop if you don't see it

you can hit the plus sign and add the loop to your program panel and then we

can check it now what I found was that if I did it so that each photo was only

one frame found it to be a little bit too quick and once I went back and

watched the Mura Masa effect in their video too I noticed that it was a little

bit slower so I actually went back highlight them all again command R so I

get up that speed thing I keep all the same settings and I change it to two

frames each and I found that to be a little bit better yeah that looks way

better and now what we're gonna do is we're gonna crop this in so that it's

the right size for Instagram we want that five by four so we're gonna change

it from 1280 by 1920 into 1280 by 1600 and this has to do with to how I

exported the photos you may have to mess with where the pictures are where the

each photo is in the frame because you've just cropped out the top and

bottom so in this one I'm gonna have to move it up so I'm gonna highlight that

one that I've already moved I'm gonna hit copy I'm gonna highlight all the

other ones and then I'm gonna do something called paste attributes and

that's gonna basically put them all to the same crop so now we have our

complete instagram size Mura Masa effect animated

boomerang type of thing and then of course I'm going to apply this to the other two

shots that we got so I got another one a little bit of a darker lens ball kind of

thing I'm gonna pick the five I'm gonna put them all in two frames each and it's

gonna look like this pretty cool and then lastly we're gonna go to Wayne

Gretzky we're gonna apply the same thing pretty cool now the last thing that I

did is I actually copied it out so that it would be 15 seconds 15 seconds of

this back and forth is probably enough on a loop so I figured that was probably

a good length for these guys so I made them 15 seconds and I exported them a

couple of little tips when you're shooting these you want to try and make

sure that whatever it is you're shooting is very still like I said before if you

don't have the actual camera that has four exposures coming at the same time

you can't totally freeze motion so what you want to do is try and find something

that's already fairly still to start with for example a statue of Wayne

Gretzky is a perfect example I had a little bit of trouble dealing with the

lens ball ones because as I was moving the camera I found myself also moving my

hand with the lens ball in it a little bit so I needed to keep it a little bit

more still and make sure that I was just moving the camera because ideally if you

want to make it look like it's actually four separate exposures or five separate

exposures rather than someone moving their camera in my case each exposure is

actually happening after the last one so it's a little bit of a trade-off but it

still gives you a very similar effect and I found it really effective another

little thing that I found is depending on what you set your timeline to in

Premiere so whether you're at let's say 30 frames per second or 24 frames per

second it's gonna change it a little bit so it's gonna go a little bit faster if

you're playing it back at 30 frames per second I preferred the 24 frames per

second so that's what I ended up exporting all of these in but you can

choose based on what you like and before I wrap it up here I want to say a huge

thank you this was all kind of for my Instagram and while I was out shooting

these photos I actually crossed 5,000 followers on Instagram so thank you so

much for following me if you haven't already you'll see these cool effects up

on there this week so make sure to go follow me at dunna did it @dunnadidit

thank you so much for watching make sure to give this video a thumbs up it really does help

subscribe to the channel if you're not already and I'll see you guys next time

do I look like I'm doing it am i doing it yeah it doesn't work

SCIENTIST SAYS RFID WON'T BE OPTIONAL & MAY CHANGE THE ESSENCE - Duration: 5:29.

SCIENTIST SAYS RFID WONT BE OPTIONAL & MAY CHANGE THE ESSENCE OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE

HUMAN

BY ARJUN WALIA

As the world continues to advance technologically, so do more initiatives that encroach on our

basic human rights.

It seems were on our way to becoming a card-less, cashless society.

Remember when our credit and debit cards didnt have a chip, and we had to sign for our purchases?

Well, they got a chip, and the next step might be a chip inside of our body, and not inside

of the card.

In fact, microchip implants in humans are already on the market.

For example, an American company called Applied Digital Solutions (ADS) has developed one

approximately the size of a grain of rice, and has already had it approved by the U.S.

Food and Drug Administration for distribution and implementation.

(source)

Not long ago, Ex DARPA director and Google Executive (now a Facebook executive), Regina

Dugan, was promoting the idea of microchipping humans.

You can view that clip here.

Ask yourself, what if this becomes a requirement for authentication and identification?

To withdraw money or go to the grocery store, to access your health card, social security

information or passport..

Would you do it?

Last year, a Wisconsin company held a chip party to microchip their workers, as the

Chicago Tribune points out:

A brief sting is all employees of a Wisconsin technology company said they felt Tuesday

when they received a microchip implant in their hand that will allow them to open doors,

log onto computers or buy breakroom snacks by simply waving their hand.

Three Square Market, also known as 32M, said 41 of its 85 employees agreed to be voluntarily

microchipped during a chip party at company headquarters in River Falls.

Another example would be the Swedish technology firm, Epicener.

Over 100 employees there agreed to have a microchip implanted inside their hands, which

allows them to open doors and use electronic devices more efficiently.

Although its claimed that the data in these microchips is encrypted and does not use GPS

(so we cannot be tracked and private information obtained), who really knows if thats true.

With all of the leaks from Edward Snowden, and now the revelations about Facebook and

how much theyve creeped into their users private lives via storing data, is this something

we can really trust?

The concerning thing is that its creeping towards being the norm, as the technology

is slowly being used and developed by multiple countries around the world.

It actually started years ago when animals began being implanted with devices.

An associate professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Noelle

Chesley, stated that many of those at the edge of developing these technologies believe

we are going to be combining technology in our bodies.

A Cybernetics scientist, Dr. Mark Gasson from the University of Reading in Britain told

The Sydney Morning Herald,

It has the potential to change the very essence of what it is to be human..

Its not possible to interact in society today in any meaningful way, without having

a mobile phone.

I think human implants will go along as similar route.

It will be such a disadvantage not to have the implant that it will essentially not be

optional.

Is There A Conspiracy Going On Here?

Microchipping has always attracted attention as being some part of a hidden agenda plan,

one that continues to take away our rights.

The backbone of the American ruling elites ideology has long been neoliberalism and neoconservativism,

a state creeping towards the description given by George Orwells 1984.

Not long ago, mass surveillance on the global population was considered a mere conspiracy,

but its not anymore..

And the reasons to justify these actions seem to be based on false premises.

George Orwells 1984 is a classic book depicting a populace ruled by a political regime that

persecutes individualism and independent critical thinking as thoughtcrimes that must

be enforced by the thought police. This party seeks power above all, and, through

the propagandist Ministry of Truth, presents the people with their version of truth.

Sound familiar?

Within the past few years, so much information has come out contradicting the mainstream

rhetoric.

Election fraud, as made evident by WikiLeaks, is one example, and false flag terrorism,

with 9/11 being the perfect example, is another.

Big global corporate and political initiatives like this have long been tied to some sort

of hidden agenda, and youre not crazy for thinking that this is also one small part

of the massive global surveillance state we are experiencing.

about fashion drawing or you feel intimidated by fashion figures, I have something ultra

special and super helpful to get you started :)

So keep watching.

Hello, hello!

I'm Karen Avila, I'm a fashion designer, fashion illustrator, and a surface pattern

designer, and I design + illustrate + teach over FSBS.com

Ok, so I'm gonna make this video real short so you can quickly go to sign up and take

the free lessons I have for you today.

But, first I'd like to talk a little about who should definitely learn fashion drawing,

so you can determine if these free lessons are for you or not.

So, let's get started

Who should learn Fashion Drawing?

Both aspiring fashion designers and fashion illustrators should learn fashion drawing

because it's the foundation of every fashion illustration.

Aspiring fashion designers should learn fashion drawing so they can communicate their designs

and ideas.

As fashion designers, we can't work alone and produce everything ourselves.

We have to work with a team, we have to share our ideas with the people involved in the

production, and we also have to share our designs with buyers, customers, sales agents,

etcetera.

And aspiring fashion illustrators must learn fashion drawing because it's where the whole

work begins.

Most of the times we fashion illustrators start with a drawing of what will turn into

an illustration.

And, although some illustrators don't start with a drawing per se, they can start painting

right away, but they already know what to paint and how to paint because they learned

everything about fashion drawing, body and face proportions, and how clothing and different

kinds of fabric look on the body.

Great, now that we're clear that you need to learn fashion drawing whether you want

to become a fashion designer or illustrator, let's see what these free lessons are all

about.

A couple of years ago I launched an online course on How to Draw Fashion Figures and

Faces.

It's been quite a success among fashion beginners during these years, and it's because

I designed it to take you step-by-step through the method I teach.

So you don't feel intimidated by the process and steps it takes to create a fashion figure

and a proportionate face.

This course comes with video lessons and an in-depth printable workbook that includes

the cheat-sheets I designed specifically for this course.

And, I'm giving away free access to some of the lessons and cheat-sheets to everyone

who signs up through the link on the cards from the right or in the description box.

These lessons will be delivered through email, and they can be considered a mini-course because

they're eight lessons that will help you get started with the basics of fashion drawing.

So, even if you can't join the premium paid course, I want you to be able to get started

and take advantage of the training I've created for you.

When you sign up for the FREE fashion drawing lessons, you'll receive one email per day

during eight days, with one lesson each day.

These are the lessons you'll get:

SkillsUSA CRT 10.0 - Nitrogen Plastic Welding Process - Duration: 5:19.

Hi, I'm Kurt Lammon with Polyvance.

The purpose of this video is to show you the new nitrogen plastic welding portion of the

plastic repair part of the collision repair technology segment of the SkillsUSA competition.

Alright, before we start using the plastic welder, there are a couple of important safety

precautions we need to talk about.

Number one, you want to use some safety glasses to protect your eyes from any flying plastic shards.

It's recommended that you use some gloves.

And also, most importantly, when you're using the nitrogen plastic welder, do not touch the metal barrel.

This is very hot and could cause burns on the nitrogen welder and also on the airless plastic welder.

Do not touch the metal barrels on either one of those.

For the SkillsUSA competition, we will be repairing a two inch tear to the edge of the

bumper in a high stress area using the nitrogen plastic welder.

There are several tools that will be required: a straight die grinder or an angle die grinder

with a 50 grit Roloc and a DA sander with 80 grit sandpaper.

Plastic cleaning solution, aluminum body tape, and plastic welding rods will be supplied to the competitor.

Prior to grinding the surface, clean it with a plastic cleaning solution.

Spray a heavy, wet coat, then wipe it dry with a clean cloth, turning the cloth with

each wipe to expose a clean surface.

Identify the plastic and select the proper welding rod for the job.

For the SkillsUSA competition, the bumper will be a polypropylene blend, and a variety

of polypropylene rods will be supplied.

For this repair, we will use the medium-width ribbon on the backside.

Grind the backside to expose raw plastic with a die grinder or sandpaper.

You may grind it flat or make a v-groove depending on what type of welding rod you decide to use.

Here we are grinding a shallow v-groove so the weld can be flush on the backside.

Also, grind along the edge, as we will weld a "tee" at the edge to reinforce the repair.

Use the supplied aluminum body tape on the cosmetic surface to align the damage.

We will weld the backside first, so the frontside needs to be held together to keep everything

in alignment and to prevent welding rod from flowing through the crack.

Start the welding process by preheating the bumper's surface and the end of the welding

rod for a few seconds.

Stick the rod down and apply a light pressure while continuing to direct the flow of hot

nitrogen gas to the area where the rod and bumper come together.

The most important thing is for both the rod and the bumper to melt at the same time as

you make your pass.

You are melting the upper surface of the bumper and the lower surface of the rod, fusing the

two melted plastics together with the downward pressure on the rod.

Allow the hot welding rod to cool for a few minutes before continuing on the frontside.

Blowing compressed air over the weld can speed the cooling process.

On the frontside, peel off the aluminum tape and grind a v-groove deep into the plastic with a die grinder.

We will use the 1/8 inch round polypropylene rod to keep the width of the repair as narrow as possible.

Here you can see we have ground through to expose some of the white welding rod from the backside.

Using the round polypropylene rod and the nitrogen welder, melt the filler rod and base material together.

Again, it is critical that both plastics melt at the same time for proper fusion and strength.

Note how the welder is directing the hot nitrogen gas at the point where the rod meets the bumper.

Because the v-groove was fairly deep, we will apply a second pass of welding rod to fill

the v-groove completely.

Note that we are directing more heat on the rod on the second pass since the rod we just

laid down is already very hot.

To ease the sanding process, we will smooth the hot welding rod with a hot airless welder.

Make one even, smooth stroke with the hot iron to level out the surface.

Allow the weld to cool completely to room temperature before doing any further work.

After it is cool, sand it smooth with 80 grit in a DA sander to finish for the competition.

After completion, the integrity of the weld will be checked by flexing the part by hand.

The repair should look professional and be able to withstand a considerable amount of force.

As you can see, a nitrogen plastic weld done properly is very strong and can withstand considerable abuse.
