Hi, everyone! Loud Sound store here.
Today's review is all about a new product by SPL Lab.
The company produces such meters as USB Bass-meters, CD-Bassmeters,
RCA-meters - well, meters that are mainly for sound pressure measuring,
current measuring etc.
Mostly for sound.
Today's product is an unusual one - Race Meter
Well, SPL Lab called it a meter like anything else.
It's a detector that can measure the performance time on a distance,
the time before the selected figure is reached, right?
Till 100 or 200 km/h etc.
It can also measure the loop time.
Well, the functional capacity is quite wide, and the price is lower than that of the main competitor,
the one all the measuring devices of the kind are lined up with - Race Logic.
Race Logic costs about 30, maybe 40-50 k.
This device costs ₽5,900. It's a promo price. Dunno if it's changing anytime soon.
The producers say it is.
And this is one of the very first devices. Official sales start next week, for ₽5,900.
And we get to take a look at it. I'll show you its main functions.
And we'll sure test it.
And it was a lucky coincidence that this device arrived
just before I went to have my Mercedes E200 chipped by A2 Performance.
What I was aiming at is installing the E300 software in it.
So, with this device I checked the speeding parameters before and after,
I mean I don't wanna end up pating the A2 Performance guys for nothing.
If you wanna accuse me of promotion, I did pay them money, fair and square.
Just like many cars from the Southern C-class appreciators' club.
I was the only E-class to join the party. And we took off for Krasnodar for chip-tuning.
I'll add that footage, too. I checked highway speeding,
I'll show it all. But first, let's check out the device itself.
It works off any USB. For the feed, we're using, in this case,
a thing that's unavailable for iPhone users. Samsung here has an adapter providing USB.
You can also charge other phones with it.
The device has 3 buttons - mode, set and reset.
And, well, no more buttons.
There is slot for a MicroSD memory drive,
You can store any telemetric data there, be it loop time or speeding.
So it just logs everything and records it on this drive.
You can ope the file later in Race Logic software.
The left button - mode - is for switching modes.
SPD stands for speeding.
In this mode, we can set SP1, the starting point. It's 0 for now.
SP2 is set at 290 at the moment. Well, let's make it 300.
So, I measured the speeding from 0 to 300 km/h today.
It was in our Lada 2107.
We can set it for regular figures, like 100. Thus, it'll measure 0 to 100 now.
Or we can reverse it, set the first number higher
and we'll see the braking speed then.
The second mode is LP, it's for loop performance.
Next comes DST - Distance.
Here, we can set the habitual 402 m, 804 m or 201m.
In this mode, once the device sees we've made the distance, it'll show the time.
Next come the log file's settings. When on, it's recorded onto the memory drive.
In AUT, the log file is live-streamed onto an external device. And off - the log's off.
And this is the device configuration mode. It features, I think, 4 parameters.
UL, tbh, I don't remember what it means. [*Miles/kilometers]
You can check it out in the manual.
LG selects the log file's format.
T is for Time zone. And this is the software version.
You can update it from your memory stick. Links for the update and the manual are in the description.
All we got left is to check the device. Let me clear it all up right away.
A E200 Mercedes has the claim of 8.1 sec for 0-100 km with E200 software
like the indergarten one I used to have.
With E300 software, the claim is 6.3 sec.
With both E200 and E300 the device shows it 1 sec longer.
I think we need to consider the gas, the asphalt quality, the 25" wheels vs stock 18".
All that figured, I think we'd make it just like the claim is.
The purpose of this test is not to see some supernatural figures,
but to compare this meter's accuracy to the measurements by Race Logic
which we're going to do.
Now, we're going to Krasnodar where the guys with A2 Performance agreed to chip 10 cars
And gave us a very nice discount for the bulk.
It is still a pretty penny,
so I suggest you reserve from chip-tuning your car unless you got a device like this.
'Cus pretty often it's just placebo. You get it tuned and then go kicking,
and it feels uncertain. Well, these measurements can show you what the chip changed.
Well, in my case, we didn't even need one of these.
When accelerating 200 to 250 km/h - let me make it clear, it was done with the green screen
on a special stand, not public roads, for sure -
anyway, I will add the video of accelerating 200+, before the chip and after it.
We'll also take a ride with the device accelerating 0 to 100 km/h.
So, I am in the city of Krasnodar.
I'm here to test Race Logic. Wait, no. The device is called Race Meter.
I asked my friends from the C-club to bring their Mercedeses just to test the device.
But they agreed to chip the cars, too to check before and after.
I'm a member of Mercedes club because they accept you if you own a Mercedes.
They discuss whose grills are nicer there.
Check this dope one out. It hasn't been presented in Germany yet.
But it is on in Krasnodar already.
This Mercedes is a stallion, right?
All these cars will be chipped today. They're doing mine right now.
And then we'll go and test them with Race Logic and Race Meter.
We'll see how different the result is.
I remember it being 9.2 yesterday.
9.1 was the max result.
Let me tell you a secret, we've already tried it. The first on was 7.2 sec, two people in the car.
So, it's already 2 secs faster than when I was alone in the car,
And this is E300 stock software, right? You didn't open up the block, right?
- We didn't
No handcrafting. This is 100% original software.
No bars, no see. This one saw 7.3 secs.
Well, we have already registered an improvement compared to the original software.
Now we have to compare the figures Race Logic showed with those by Race Meter.
We can just have a quick shot now 'cuz we need to hit the road already.
I mean, we're not gonna do it for the amazing result.
7.8 showed your Race Logic, and Race Meter showed 7.78. Identical.
This wasn't the best start. We were driving uphill.
Anyway, LOUD SOUND approve of A2 Performance, and A2 Performance approve of Race Meter.
Guys, I almost crapped my pants! First it went like whoa, and then - dun dun dun.
It's a fast race now,
Fine.
So, SPL Lab released a device that is not exactly their area.
But the guys thought, why not? Why would you pay a fortune for Race Logic
if we can make a device that would probably be poorer in functional capacity
and probably (!) have slightly lower precision.
And it's a comparison with thenew generation Race Logics.
The previous generation had the same request frequency an these detectors,
5 Hz, if I'm not mistaken.
On top of it, we have a really tasty promo price of ₽5,900.
You can order them right now in the LOUD SOUND online store.
I should also mention one very useful function.
If we turn the device on by holding the left button,
it goes to the mode of a cardreader or a memory drive - whatever.
So it simply reads the data on this memory stick.
Thus, you can record music here, of you can copy telemetric data, no trouble.
You grab the device and plug it via USB into your laptop without unhooking it.
Hold the left button when turning on, and your laptop sees an external memory drive.
Out of the flaws, number one is the screen. It's extremely bad for photographing.
And when videotaped, it often shimmers.
It happens whenever there is a source of bright light behind the meter.
or when your camera switches on some automatic settings which are not great.
I managed to get rid of that shimmering via manual setting.
Some users might find it incomvenient, tho,
per say, I wanna brag 'bout my Priora speeding up 0 to 200 km/h within 7 secs.
And in the pic, there's not 7 but some handicapped number.
I informed the guys. They reacted instantly, and issued an update right away.
You can install the update with a higher renewal frequency. That should tame the flaw.
The second flaw - well, it's a subjective one - it's the mini-USB.
It's quite an old slot type, but SPL Lab seems to love it, for some reason. Still using it a lot.
I'd recommend the guys switch to Type C.
Or at least to micro-USB.
Well, they've been using this so far.
It's neither good nor bad. But visually, it's already too old.
It was last popular, like, 3-5 years ago.
After that, everyone switched to micro-USB, and now they're going for Type C.
Make sure you leave your comments about the E200 and E300 chips.
With the block opening or not, about the pricing etc.
You could've done it cheaper in Rostov, but, well, I ran where the crowd ran.
The whole club arranged it, so I chipped in, too.
They installed original software without opening up the blocks
and gave us a nice discount from the price in Moscow.
However, Rostovites claim that you can crack the block open and shove the unshovable there.
Some say it's gonna make the car go nuts, some, on the contrary, say it'll go faster.
My car did start going faster. It was no placebo.
I know it's not that much of a pump up as compared to some enhancements.
But compared to the slowpoke it used to be, atleast now you can see it accelerate to 250.
After the chipping, I can't help feeling happy about my drive.
The 0 to 100 figure - 7.1 secs - is not that impressive anyway.
But the dynamics, how it changed for between 100 and 200, the way it pumps it, I love it!
I'm really happy now. I think I'm gonna go for the exhaust, too.
I'll do that. The point is, not to go any further. It's contagious, like car audio.
Once you start, there's no end to it.
I hope this review was of use to you. Sure do get one of these.
It's great for those who sets cars, and for those who crave to know their real speed.
If you wonder what's your loop time, this thingy records it and registers your loop time.
You can order it online right here.
Or you can ask for a consultation here.
Ask which logistic company is better for your town, what's the best payment method, where to collect it.
We can answer any questions regarding the use of this thing.
The warranty an so on. Don't be shy, text us there.
Shop at loudsound.ru. Bye, everyone. Live LOUD.
I've seen your comments already. I've posted this video on Instagram.
You started writing... I mean, have you ever driven 250 km/h?
With me? No way! I don't break the law that much! Where were we going?
Oh, wait, AMG doesn't count. And that was 260 km/h
This thing will show you your real speed requesting satellite data via its inbuilt GPS module.
That was freakin' smartass, huh?
