Today I'll bring you with me to my surgery
It's a top surgery and a hysterectomy
which means that they will remove my breasts, my ovaries and uterus
It's in Amsterdam at the Slotervaart Ziekenhuis (hospital)
So that's why I've booked an AirBnB
I've slept terribly, not because of nerves but
because of this bed
The springs came through the matras
Anyways, I hope that I have rested enough and if not, I will after anesthesia
So yeah, going to the hospital soon,
It's about 6.00am and I need to be there at 6.30am
So I'll take the bus and go of to the hospital
On my way to the bus,
The weather is nice and it's quiet
But I want to arrive on time because I kinda overslept...
well overslept, the moment I decided to sleep at the other end of the bed I finally could get some sleep but it was already 5.00am
Let's see...
We arrived at the hospital,
It's 06.20am and I need to be there at 06.30am so we're right on schedule
It's so early that even the cleaners are still working
no problem,
I have to find the right department and I'll see you soon
It's 6.25am
I'm pretty stoked,
I carry a heavy bag so filming isn't easy
but I'll be okay
At the nursing department
I can't wait!
Goodmorning!
"or not" (it's still very early)
It's 6.45am, I have to wait in my room to get some instructions
I have to take a blood test at 7.00am and if everything comes back clear I'll have surgery at 8.00am
The room is quite nice, well nice,
It's a private room so that's what I like about it
and the view isn't that bad neither
so, it's all okay,
have to wait for a bit,
I'm not allowed to eat since midnight so I got to hang in there and I'm also not allowed to drink since 5.45am
It's all for a good cause so I'll be fine
Waiting for te elevator to get my blood tested,
It's not my favorite activity but
I'm used to it, no big deal
Testing went ok,
I'm curious about the results.
If they turn out to be clear, I'll have surgery around 8.00am
Ready for surgery!
Tuesday 27th June '17
It's 6.55 am, I had surgery yesterday and I felt so tired that I couldn't film
They finally removed my catether at 6.00am this morning
That was the most inconvenient part about surgery,
my chest doesn't bother me, neither does the drip nor the drains
They don't bother me so much but the catether was awfull
So they took it out at 6.00am and a bit later I could try the bed pan
The first try didn't go so well,
The nurse had just left and I needed to try again and it went allright
so now I have to recover and wait till they can take out the drains, progress
I'm exhausted, I've had a tube down my throat so that's still sore
(as you can hear from my voice)
the chest doesn't hurt, however my stomach does and the catether wasn't a great experience
We'll see what the day brings and
I'll keep you posted
It's 8.45am and I'm having breakfast,
still tired but going to be okay
10.00am, they removed the bandage and put me into my own binder,
It's to keep everything in place and keep some pressure on it
They gave me a bag to put the drains in,
so if you don't like it, sorry but they're just drains
They catch the wound fluid (not a tasty display but anyways)
they took out my drip as well
my throat's still a bit sore
just went to the bathroom for the first time so it was nice to be able to do that
I'm allowed to wander across the room, just take it easy and find my boundaries
The surgent that did my hysterectomy came by and gave me instuctions,
after him a colleague of the surgent that did my mastectemy stopped by and explained the drains and when I might be able to go home
Around 4pm or 5pm they'll check up on me to see how much fluid leaks from my wounds
So now it's a matter of waiting and sitting back
you'll see me at the next update
It's 13.00pm, I'm having lunch,
still tired, my stomach hurts but I take it easy and it's going to be ok.
17.10pm, the surgent just stopped by and the drains can be removed, everything was fine.
when they remove them, I'll have to wait for about half an hour to make sure there's no swelling
and then I'll be discharged
so that's great news, I'm really looking forward to it
Good evening, they took out my drains and drip needle
I have to wait an half our and then I can go home
I'm having dinner and you'll see me at the next update
Good evening, It's 20.30pm and I'm getting picked up by my uncle and aunt
my drains are gone and there was no swelling so I'm good to go
Very looking forward to it, It all went so quick, Yesterday I had surgery and today I can go home,
so I'll wait for them to pick me up
It's tuesday evening, 22.30pm, I've arrived home
The journey went great, no complications
my stomach's still painful but in general everything isn't that bad.
I'm going to bed, it has been a long past few days so I'm going to recover
Goodnight!
Due to practical reasons these images where shot with my mobile,
