hello and welcome back to this MSI review with me BX3 DEELPE we are going to check
out the msi z270 gaming m7 motherboard and the msi geforce gtx 1080 gaming x
graphic card I'm just going to talk a little bit about these products and then
we're going to jump right into the game testing where we have our overwatch
player Ripper who is going to check out these products in a gaming environment
using overwatch so first off these two products are pretty damn amazing this is
one of the top cards from MSI the Z270 gaming m7 motherboard and the MSI
GTX 1080 gaming X both products are VR ready so MSI packed eight gigabytes of
gddr5 type memory on the graphic card itself and they packed two dedicated USB
3.1 type a first-generation ports on there
the motherboard itself has steel armor technology and features three PCI x16
third-generation ports and also three PCI x1 third-generation ports and also
it features three m2 ports and one U2 port so with that being said let's jump
to ripper where he is testing the products through overwatch the first
thing we did was to put everything on the highest setting except Anti-Aliasing
just to figure out how well this card would run at those settings the screen
we are running the game at is a 2k resolution running at a 165 Hertz
refresh rate currently I'm testiong the MSI GTX 1080 I can see why the 1080
would be a good choice I'm currently at 160 average fps the game in general
looks really smooth so I didn't notice this is earlier when I was playing with
the 1060 and 1070 because I was a lot more interested in the FPS
and all but I do notice that my gold gun on soldier is really golden it is
really beautiful to look at it does help a lot to be able to play the game at
such a high FPS but still be able to play the game as such a high quality ingame
it feels different than what I usually play on so I usually play on the lowest
settings the gain as much fps as possible because I play a lot more
competitive than casual I would not have anything against playing with everything
maxed out on this card on the 1080 just because it feels good it looks
good after a while we change all the settings to Ripper's personal preference
in order to notice the difference in responsiveness input lag and overall the
more general feel for the game I'm already finding out something interesting
that I'm getting more or less the same average FPS as I did with the 1070
that does seem to be a cpu limitation so I would personally say that if you want
to play a game like overwatch you could just ship out with the 1070 on low
settings of course it would be a lot cheaper if you want to play overwatch on
low settings the GTX 1080 is not worth it in my opinion I currently have a
frame rate of 270 so it's not bad but considering the price versus the
1070 the 1070 is just a lot more bang for a buck I don't seem to have any
delay so to say it does feel really smooth I'm happy with the card but I guess
the frames getting the same frames at the 1070 is what's the most
negative thing right so I just tested the msi gtx 1080 and i gotta say it
was a bit of a surprised really I was thinking that we'll get a stable 300 FPS
on my settings the low setting I was barely gaining any FPS at all if I did
gain any at all between the 1070 and the 1080 on those settings however I didn't
notice a huge difference on high quality in game between the two cards the 1070
and the 1080, 1080 did actually perform a lot better
on high settings it was a nice refreshing time to play the game actually it
the game looked beautiful everything was just feeling really
it was feeling clear there was no sloppiness or any choppiness at all I
didn't feel any in-put delay at all it was a good experience actually playing with the 1080
on the high quality in-game I gotta say was fun if you're looking for a card that
you can play basically games at the highest graphics then I would go
for the 1080 as you saw Ripper was extremely happy with the performance of
these components 1080 blazed through overwatch even on the most demanding
settings on the motherboard stacked out pretty damn good as well so speaking
about the motherboard let's dive a bit deeper in and see what kind of special
features this motherboard has the motherboard itself has a very nice black
finish to it everything is black it has LED lights all over the place
it has mystic light technology you can control it from both your desktop and
your cell phone it has steel armor as well and what that does
is that it ensures that none of the components will flex because of the load
they have steel armor on their RAM ports and steel armor on their PCI ports
this motherboard is the enthusiast version they packed a lot of different
kind of technologies on here they packed turbo m2 nVme connections and
also they included the steel armor on one of the m2 drives and they also packs
a turbo U2 port speaking about the memory you can insert ddr4 type memory
on it here it will go all the way up to 4133 megahertz if you put it in
overclock mode on the i7 7th generation processors and it will go all the way up
to 3600 megahertz with a i7 6th generation CPU this is an
1151 socket type motherboard so only of course 1151 socket CPUs will be
compatible with this motherboard moving on you have 3 m2 harddrive slots and you
have one U2 harddrive slot but they are a bit like quirky when it comes to
how they work if you choose to use all three m2 slots you can only use four of
your SATA connections but if you choose these two m2 slots you can use
all six of the SATA connections you have six SATA connections if you want to
use two of the m2 drives you have to use the first and the second one as the
third one will be rendered unusable because of bandwidth limitation if you
choose to use the U2 port you can use an m2 drive here in the first slot
and then m2 Drive in the second slot and then you are not able to use the fifth
and the sixth SATA connections because of bandwidth limitation as both the u2
port and the third m2 share the same bandwidth also on
the motherboard you have a power sign connector here and you have a system
sign connector also on top of the card the motherboard itself will
automatically figure out which kind of connection you have on there you have a
lot of different kind of fan outputs on this motherboard you have one here here here
here here and here if you flip the card around you can see that they included a
full spectrum of the i/o user interface you have the regular old-school ps2 type
connection you have two second-generation USB type 2 connectors
here and you have an hdmi you have displayport you have another USB 2 port here and you
have the VR ready USB 3 type-a first generation connectors here
you have a USB 3.1 type a second generation here and you have a USB 3.1 type-c second
generation port here now the full range of the audio
interface here as well so you can use the motherboard in the surround sound
environment if you want to do that as well
since we have DisplayPort outputs an HDMI port output you're able to use the
integrated graphics on your processor if we flip it all the way around the other
side you see that you have six SATA connections you have a turbo U2
port here you also have USB second-generation
ports here USB 3.1 generation one here you have USB 3.1 generation one here you
have a USB 3.1 generation two type-c connector here for the front of your
computer case also another feature that MSI has packed on their motherboards is
the ability to see if you have faulty hardware
the minute you plug the components into the computer and you have those LED
lights over here and let's talk a little bit about the PCI connections you have
three PCI third generation port on the motherboard you have one x16 PCI port
here but you have two x8 PCI ports here if you choose to use this card in a SLI
configuration you can only output x8 through these two ports also this card
supports 2-way SLI but 3-way crossfire and also you have PCI Express third
generation x1 outputs here if you want to use them for PCI brackets for m2 nVme
hard drives or sound cards or capture cards that was pretty much
everything I can say about the motherboard itself if there is anything
you want to know about these products there are links in the description for
you to check out if you want to dive deep inside of the manual to figure out
what kind of quirks and features these components have they'll be listed on
their site the graphic card the fantastic 1080 it's not the 1080 ti but
it's the 1080 and it's amazing I've actually been using this card for the
while being it's amazing it can pull everything you throw at it
including overwatch as you saw in the game testing it is pretty much amazing
it features Twin Frozr 6 fan cooling and the special thing about Twin Frozr 6
is that it has two types of fan blades one a bit more angled and one regular to
get the most out of your cooling MSI have been perfecting their cooling for
the longest time and on the cooling system itself they have included LED
lights which you can change in the gaming app also the special thing about
twin Frozr six technology is that when the card is cool the fans won't run
but as the heat starts packing the fan will
start spinning to keep your card cool using torx 2.0 technology it has a lot
of heat pipes going into the card to ensure that your card is cool at all
times and it only takes up two slots in your motherboard and it has a pretty
neat backplate the backplate itself will ensure that your card doesn't weigh down
if you choose to have two of those in SLI configuration so that the screws
don't stick up and up your fans so that's pretty cool as well it uses PCI
Express third generation technology to ensure that you get the most performance
out of your product and it features SLI connection and use this one 6-pin
connector and one 8-pin connector for your power it has three type of modes
that you can enable in your MSI gaming app on your desktop PC one overclockable
mode one gaming mode and one silent mode even though my recommendation is just
having an overclock mode and just leave it there the card itself features a huge
range of connections for your display three DisplayPort outputs one HDMI port
output and one DVI port output so use this card in a multi display
configuration or you could use it for VR since VR needs a lot of
connections as well and like I said they packed eight gigabytes of gddr5 type
memory here so you are covered when it comes to VR or graphically demanding
games such as TombRaider or Gears of War The Witcher 3 and a lot of other kind of
graphically demanding games that are out there today and will come in the future
I'm guessing you could keep this graphic card for about two more years and it will
still kick ass and that's pretty much it for this video
thank you guys so much for watching these products are BX3 recommended
and they are highly recommended by me personally as well this is an amazing
graphic card and this is an amazing motherboard so if you want the most
incredible performance go and get these products thank you guys so much for
watching you'll find me on twitch.tv/DanielLange please do not forget
to subscribe to our youtube channel there will be several other videos like
this out there and more to come in the future and that's pretty much it
I'm BX3.DEELPE thank you so much for watching I'll see you soon
