Counterterrorism police are investigating the mysterious poisoning of two people in Amesbury, England.

Officials say Dawn Burgess and Charlie Rowley were exposed to the dangerous, military-grade nerve agent known as Novichok.

This is the same chemical that was used to poison former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia back in March.

That attack happened just a few miles away from where Burgess and Rowley were found unconscious on June 30th.

Here's what you need to know.

Novichok Was Developed in Russia.

The name Novichok is a Russian name meaning "newcomer.

" The advanced nerve agent was developed in the Soviet Union beginning in the 1970s.

After the attack on the Skripals, Russia denied possessing these types of chemical nerve agents.

But in March, a Russian state news agency published an interview with a scientist who contradicted that claim.

The agency RIA Novosti spoke with Leonid Rink, who they identified as "the creator of Novichok.".

Rink said he oversaw a team that worked on developing the nerve agents in a Soviet lab in the town of Shikhany for 27 years, until the early 1990s.

He told the publication, "Novichok was worked on by a big group of specialists in Shikhani And Moscow.

And the end results were very good." The BBC reports that the program to create the chemical weapons was known under the codename Foliant.

Rink Says if Russia Had Been Involved in the March Attack, the Victims Would Have Died.

Police on the scene outside an Amesbury branch of Boots pharmacy as Wiltshire Police declare a major incident after a man and woman were exposed to an unknown substance on July 4, 2018 in Amesbury, England.

During that interview with RIA Novosti, Rink insisted that Russia could not have been responsible for the attack on Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

He was quoted as saying, "It's hard to believe that the Russians were involved, given that all of those caught up in the incident are still alive.".

Rink continued to back up his assertion by arguing that it would have been idiotic to use a chemical that could be so easily traced back to the Kremlin.

He told the RIA, "There are lots of more suitable substances.

To fire the equivalent of a powerful rocket at someone who is not a threat and to miss would be the height of idiocy.".

Former Soviet Scientist Claims Novichok Was Used in a 1995 Murder.

Russian businessmen and bankers carry the coffin of Ivan Kivelidi at Vagankovskoye cemetery in Moscow 08 August.

Vladimir Uglev was another Soviet chemical weapons scientist who spoke out soon after the March poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

According to the Guardian, Uglev reached out to them.

He said it is possible that the weapon used against the former Russian spy could have been made by him.

But we're unlikely to find out about that, at least according to the information I have at the moment.".

Uglev also spoke about the 1995 murder of banker Ivan Kivelidi and his secretary.

He says he long suspected that Novichok had been used in that suspicious poisoning.

A New York Times article from 1995 states that police believed Kivelidi had been killed with a heavy metal substance.

It was an era in which high-profile killings were very common in Russia.

The New York Times reported that at least 16 bankers were killed over a 16-month span, and that police believed more than 500 people were the victims of contract killings in 1994.

Novichok Causes Symptoms Within Seconds.

When inhaled, the symptoms of Novichok agents can happen in as little as 30 seconds.

Symptoms include:. • Muscle spasms.

• Seizures. • Excessive saliva and tears.

• Digestive problems.

In an interview with Live Science, Dr.

Lewis Nelson, chairman of emergency medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, said that Novichok is difficult to detect in a toxicology report.

He says that because Novichok is so lethal, far less of it is needed in order to cause harm.

The coroner would need to know to look for it.

Residents in Amesbury Take to Twitter to Express Concern For Their Own Safety.

The Wiltshire Police posted on Twitter that they believe there is no significant threat to the public.

But until it can be determined how Dawn Burgess and Charlie Rowley came into contact with the substance, residents are going to be concerned.

ITV News Correspondent Rupert Evelyn: "Over and over again and even today the public have been reassured by government and officials that #Salisbury is safe.

Well, I am so scared right now, I just played a fucked up game or ROM called Conchas worst fur day

I guess I should tell you my story

When I was younger, I owned an n64 and for my birthday, I got a game called Conker's Bad Fur Day

It was a game meant for adults due to the swearing blood nudity sexual references and etc

My parents just saw the cover and thought oh, this looks like a cute game perfect for our son's birthday

my parents got a used copy of the game and they probably didn't see the rating because it was smaller on the cartridge in the

box

Anyways, I used to love that game

I obviously didn't tell my parents about it because I knew they would return it if they found out I

Loved playing through it and I laughed a lot

I probably would have laughed more back then if I knew what some of the jokes meant

Okay. So earlier today I was watching a YouTube video about Sonic and I came across the video called Eggman is the great mighty poo

I do I heard that somewhere

Then I saw something called Conker's Bad Fur Day. Great. Mighty poo

Okay. So after seeing this I thought hey, I remember this game suddenly. I felt an

Extremely big urge to play the game. I already had an n64 emulator project 64

Which I used to relive games like Mario 64 Zelda and etc

So I googled conquer romp exactly like that

After I hit the I'm feeling lucky button. I don't remember the site's name because I wanted to play the game

It opened a near blank page with just a button in middle. It said download conquers worst fur day. I

Know it sounds dumb and that I didn't notice that the name was odd, but I clicked the button

Anyway, it began to download when it was done. I started playing

It didn't open like the with the original jumping screen

With the jumping in 64 logo and conker cutting in half with chainsaw

No, it started with a grey squirrel like one of the ones you see in the bar at the main menu

Running in a poorly lit room than a mangled bloody wounded conker appeared behind him and sawed him in half with a chainsaw

Spilling guts bones, etc

everywhere

The conker looked up the screen with his torn up bloody face and said you're after hell fucker

The voice of conker seemed off. It was a lot deeper and the audio quality was very bad

The strange thing was that in conquer the word fuck is censored

well in this ROM, it wasn't I didn't realize this at first and damn that was a

Anyway, the game started with conker entering the bar as usual

But instead of the menu showing up when Concord into the bar you could hear was loud eerie

Depressing moaning. I instantly turn down the volume because I am very paranoid those certain sounds

moaning relates to an incident that dates back to my childhood and scary

Now from under the door of the bar

Blood started seeping through and mixing into the puddle from the rain and the screen faded out the black

Then it showed the beginning area where you start the game and you have the hangover

Finally I can play. I thought this was not a good thing

Anyway, I started but there was no cutscene and conker was fine. I press b & Conquer swinging a chainsaw and put it away

Cool, I get a chainsaw instead of a stupid frying pan

Anyway, I jumped the fence to speak to birdie

But when I walked up to him conker looked up and said hey shithead give him some help

Then birdie the Scarecrow looked up and said why the fuck do you need anything? You know how to play war on?

What the fuck? I thought I just took a breath and continued. It was true

I'll end the controls by running around a bit before talking the birdy then conquer looked that birdy. He said you fucking shithole

I'll cut your fucking head off now light bulb up here the buff conquers head. I press B, then the game entered a cutscene

It was very dark for some reason and the place was only eliminated by constant lighting flashes

Any other game just flashed a picture of conker killing birdy with a chainsaw then the same conker voice said rot in hell fucker

Although the game still showed the dark room after conquers suddenly appeared in the black area. Then I got to play again

Then I noticed that this was the same place where birdy was but Bertie was gone now

I made my way up to the mountain pass, but the gargoyle was not there in for some odd reason

There was a strange hissing noise in the background

So I headed into the cave

I wasn't expecting to appear in a bright happy field with the nasty and nice 14 middle road

But instead conquer enter they passed up to the haunted house. I

walked up

But I forgot about the skeleton snakes and got attacked by one

But instead of being chewed up and spit out it showed the snake put concur on the ground and started mauling him

Biting him over and over

Revealing his guts bones, and I started spilling out

Then the skeleton snake let out a demonic cry then jumped out on the road and dug back into the ground

I was waiting for the game to restart back to the checkpoint

But instead of just show they fucked up her bloody wounded conker and then seemingly endless room

Filled with zombies, you know like from the graveyard level

It showed conker on the ground guts blood etc. Lying all around him. Then it shows his face

I got so shocked from the scene. I turned around I let my stomach settle

Then I looked back at the cut up bloody Conqueror face

He was missing his eyes and showed empty sockets

and after he let on a moan he

Said these words

When conkers had gone it was so loud and terrifying I shut the sound off the sound startled me so badly

I nearly pissed myself so I ran to the bathroom and

Then I returned the screen showed conker being devoured by endless amounts of zombies

Then when all that was left was the disturbing head of conker

The zombies face the screen and started walking toward it then I tried pressing B when I did a

Shotgun was pulled up the game seemed like a first-person shooter

Sort of like Halo. Well sort of I

Pressed Z and it fired a shot holding off the zombies. I remember that conquer zombies must get shot in the head to die

So I killed them one by one until there were no more

Suddenly

The conquer head began to moan a little bit so I ran over

Knowing I would have to see the head but I felt like I had to do it, you know

the screen showed conkers had lying there and he said

The game didn't let

The game didn't do anything and by now I had tears running down my face and I nodded my head then conquer his head

let out one more gasp and said

Now it sounded like conker then the screen darkened and how the emulator closed itself and I deleted the ROM and turned off my computer

Even now I can still hear his voice echoing in the back of my head

But I know that ROM was a message to me. I

Used to be greedy. I was a porn addict

Real quick before I go I have an update

I tried to return to the site to have the ROM on it

But I managed to get the ROM out of the recycling bin

I can only get a screenshot of the ramen for some reason when I try to load the ROM

I get a window that says error

attempt to open zip file failed missing your corrupt zip file check path file and you know

You know the works you may need to restart the application

I tried to extract a file but that didn't work. So I got onto my new computer and it still doesn't work

I'm not going to upload the wrong either nobody's deserves this to go through the same thing that I did

         E' stato curato dal veterinario e dopo qualche giorno Battle Cat - così è stato chiamato in un primo momento il gatto - ha cominciato a stare meglio

«In soli dieci giorni era quasi irriconoscibile - racconta Pamela -. Non sapevo se ce l'avrebbe fatta, ma ho incrociato le dita e sperato, e (soprattutto) ho deciso di adottarlo»

Le ha cambiato il nome in Lazarus, e oggi lui ha trovato una casa per sempre.          «E' un gatto molto dolce che ama essere coccolato - continua la sua nuova proprietaria - ed è un esempio per tutti per la sua forza di volontà»

Aggiunge: «La sua poteva sembrare una causa persa. E invece la sua vita in poche settimane è stata stravolta, e in un certo senso è ricominciata

Simone O'Brien on the domestic violence red flags we should look for

Simone O'Brien on the red light signals which could indicate domestic violence.

Five years ago, Simone O'Brien was almost unrecognisable.

The mother-of-three had been beaten so savagely with a baseball bat by a man she met online she almost died and spent a month in hospital fighting for her life.

As a survivor of a horrific domestic violence incident, Ms O'Brien has emerged to become a vocal advocate in how to look out for the warning signs that could save a life.

Speaking to Georgie Gardner on Today, Ms O'Brien recalled how her nine-month relationship with real estate agent Glenn Cable produced red flags, which she didn't see herself until it was too late.

"I honestly thought I was going to die then," she tells Gardner of the attack.

"I was doing my doing my dinner for the children and a knock at the door.

The perpetrator walked in and his face, you know, I can see visibly see it and I thought oh my goodness, I'm in trouble here.

"After enduring 50 operations .

As you can see my eye it's um, it's getting there after every operation.".

Cable was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to 15 years' jail in April 2014.

Ms O'Brien first shared her story on A Current Affair the following month, detailing how surgeons worked to painfully reconstruct her face and skull.

Ms O'Brien said she hoped to have grandchildren and great grandchildren who wold never be affected by domestic violence.

Her goal is to now to help the people who helped her while assisting authorities in recognising the red flags.

"If we can get these red flags out there now to the public and speak about them, like the police being involved, absolutely fantastic," she said.

For Ms O'Brien those little read flags weren't obvious at the time but are now.

"He was taking control of my life, as in deleting contacts out of my phone.

He was taking me away from society so I couldn't ring my friends or contact my work colleagues," she said.

"He looked nice, all dressed up in his suit and he was a real estate agent but in that period of nine months, little red flags grew and they were only minor.

Ms O'Brien has been talking to police recruits as part of their training in the hope officers will be better able to recognise the little signs most people miss.

"I just want to keep helping that next female and child, and that's where my life's journey is - keep going," she said.

Regarded at the time as one of the world's most promising young defenders, Silva had been sent on loan from Porto to Dynamo Moscow alongside several team-mates

'It was probably the worst episode of my life,' recalled Silva.It was during a training camp in Portugal that doctor Yuri Vassilkov, who had travelled along with the team, noticed that Silva had a persistent cough

'He had a temperature and we thought it was a simple cold,' said Vassilkov in an interview with L'Equipe newspaper this week

'I gave him some medication but he did not improve. I was a bit worried and I sent him for exams at the British hospital in Lisbon

The diagnosis was terrible: tuberculosis. It was a shock.' Vassilkov believes the diagnosis was so late that Silva was only weeks away from dying

Silva was brought back to Moscow, where he was hospitalised in a centre specialising in tuberculosis treatment

At the time, he did not speak any English or Russian and went through a bout of depression as a result

'The cold, the lack of natural light, the fact that I could not speak to anybody. all of this was very difficult to handle,' said Silva in an interview with Belgian Sport/Foot magazine

After Russian doctors at one point considered removing part of his lungs, Silva survived and made a full recovery

He never played a game for Dynamo and those painful events are just bad memories now

'That would have ended my career. I needed guardian angels to take me away,' said Silva

'I was a bit overwhelmed in a friendly we played against Russia this year.'It is different for me to play there

Now I hope I can erase that by lifting the World Cup trophy.' Anyone who has watched him command the Brazilian defence these last few weeks will have few doubts that it could happen all right
