DA warns of another health 'crisis' in KZN‚ as patients wait more than a year for eye surgery.

Half of KwaZulu-Natal's government hospitals that are supposed to be provide vital eye healthcare to patients have malfunctioning ophthalmology equipment.

The situation‚ which the DA has described as a "eye health crisis"‚ has resulted in a backlog of 8‚201 patients who are on a waiting list for cataract surgery - the cost of which is between R‚2000 and R5‚000 a procedure.

A cataract is a medical condition that clouds the normally clear lens of the eyes.

Patients usually experience cloudy vision in mild cases and in more severe case‚ loss of vision.

The shock statistics were revealed by the KwaZulu-Natal health department in a written response to a parliamentary question posed by the DA.

In the written reply‚ Health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and acting provincial health department head Musa Gumede said five of the ten hospitals earmarked for eye healthcare in the province had dysfunctional equipment.

The hospitals with the most number of patients on their waiting lists are McCords Eye Hospital in Durban and Madadeni Hospital in Newcastle - both with 3‚000 patients awaiting procedures.

Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi had 700 patients waiting for treatment‚ while Ngwelezana Hospital‚ in the north of the province‚ has 827 people on its list.

Questioned about the average waiting period for the procedure‚ Dhlomo and Gumede said priority was given to patients - "drivers or economically active" - with cataracts in both eyes.

The waiting period for treatment at McCords Eye Hospital for these priority patients is one month.

Waiting time can reach over 12 months‚ the pair of health bosses said.

"It is tragic that such a high number of patients are being made to wait to have operations that will restore their vision‚" the DA's Imran Keeka said in a statement.

"The KZN health department continues to fail residents at every turn due to poor healthcare system administration.

"In the interim‚ I will submit follow-up questions to the MEC to determine why the equipment is not working and why the defaulting facilities did not comply with our request as per the questions put to them.

They must be held accountable.

The ANC's continued mismanagement of the healthcare system shows that they are not prepared or able to roll out a megaproject like the National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme‚" he said.

my z:y Grand Slam oh yeah this is real wood handle metal spacer and that is a

full hollow this is going to be nice it's gonna be good shave it is and

tonight I am going to be using Barba's alright one of our subscribers

told me about this and this is just wonderful this is a nice clean kind of

citrusy scent and this is the original classic excellent I'm going to give that

a try for the first time tonight on camera yeah of course I've had it

blooming I don't know if you need to but you know I always bloom everything so it

doesn't really matter if you need to learn the hot we're gonna bloom it then

we're gonna take put that blue water off and put it on as a pre-shave yep oh wow

nice nice and clean scent really is some citrusy notes in there which I like yeah

go ahead and get that everywhere oh yeah we're having a nice cool water shade

again tonight because up here in the Northeast we are in a heatwave

yes we are so now it is what it is not a big deal

now for our brush tonight we are using my Omega 10000 98 excellent and we're

just going to get that brush loaded up oh yeah

so we made it to the midweek shave hot day and it's a holiday yeah

it is the fourth of July Wow Independence Day that is just excellent

it is I really do enjoy and love this country so hopefully you are being able

to enjoy it as well yeah so hopefully you are at a party or been at a party

you're going to a party and you're gonna celebrate you have a cookout all those

wonderful things that we should do right so that is good you hang with family and

friends and enjoy it oh yeah and maybe like me you're gonna

get a shade out of it maybe even a good shake could be a great shape for that

matter right I hope so now I don't know how much I need to put on this but

that's nice and sticky so we're going to stop there I'm going to clean up around

that bowl because I have kind of made a mess but we're just good we normally do

this so that's all right we can make a mess and we're gonna put some there and

put some here yes them everywhere so it's okay yes

right now and really descent when this is nice it really is nice clean fresh

kind of citrusy which I like oh yeah yeah look at that oh yeah nice let's get

our lather on that is good oh man that brush has got quite a bit of water so I

think we're gonna be all right yeah we get some of that out there let's

just go ahead and kick it up let's see what this soap can do I feel something

you know got a wonderful scent this has been around since 1956

so that is telling me that if it's painted this long this is gonna be good

so and it is a classic this is the classic original I know they have other

flavors I'm sure but this sounded good to me

oh yeah Wow and I definitely get enough soap let's put a little bit more water

on now

oh yeah look at that

here we go Wow I think this is going to be amazing I do I think it would be

amazing and that Soph is so super slick I'm going to claim the handle off them

right now and see if that doesn't work better the next time

all right so this is past one which is going to be with the gray for the most

part all right so let's do this

and I can tell you right now this soap has gotten fantastic cushion really

excellent now we're going to switch hands we're going to get this other side

and then after this first pass we're gonna do a little sweetness test and see

how it is I think it's going to be fine though

and I got so excited with this new salt I didn't even shave completely what I

would normally shave on this side mmm oh man this is really good stuff though I'm

enjoying

nice all right now just for the slickness just put a water on that see

what that does because I'd like to check that as well

not only do I like good cushion I don't like just like so

so let's look at

oh yeah nice that is nice and slick once you get wet again

that really works out quite well so let's get that cleaned off oh yeah yeah

nice residual slickness there no that was a good first pass it was okay no

nice yeah in a loo that I I can almost work up a lather trying to rinse it off

that's nice it really does leave a nice slick on the

face right now this is a stew alright

shaving now it's a matter of getting your skin nice and taut but it doesn't

have to be drum tight okay you know you have to have it pretty decent though and

you'll get a much better shave like that right there

oh nice nice okay definitely have to kind of dry that off see if I get a

little soap off there

Wow yeah and there's still so mmm so good

and I just drive out there we go and there were no bones harmed in the

filming of this shave video excellent excellent

all right now for our aftershave II think there's lemon witch hazel now this

is lemonade for the face good stuff oh yeah and I think it's gonna complement

this soap nicely I did oh that's good that's good we just put that everywhere

yep very nice very nice now for hunt menthol

here tonight weird going find snakebite oh yeah this is it this is pretty much

alcohol and menthol it may be a little tiny bit of water in there but that's

about it there not much else so gonna be doing

really mm-hmm and we're going to top this shame off

with Nivea push a bomb I got the extra cooler or the cool version coming so

maybe in the next show and while that snake by is doing it is so good

The Boo in the Shoe

Have you ever seen Boos?

They are playful creatures

you think you see

under your bed at night.

Some look like orange zebras,

others like flying snails.

They can tease

or make you sneeze -

they can even make

chocolates appear

in empty pockets!

Puzzle, the Boo

looked a bit

like an elephant,

only he was purple

most of the time

and the size of a mouse.

Meera stumbled upon him

one morning by accident.

There he was,

sniffing and moaning, his backside

firmly wedged inside her shoe.

"I must be dreaming,"

she thought.

She poked him

to see what would happen.

"Ouch!" howled Puzzle.

"Oh! I'm very sorry," she apologized.

"I'm stuck!" he bawled.

In fact,

he had been

stuck there all night

and had given up hope

of ever getting free.

Meera examined him closely.

"Let me see if I can help,"

she said,

pulling him by the legs.

She pushed him from behind.

She even banged the shoe

against the floor.

"I could put you in soapy water,"

she suggested.

No,

Puzzle was scared of bubbles.

"What if I poured oil on you?"

she asked.

Puzzle began to squeak and sob.

He certainly didn't want oil

poured on him!

"I know how to stop you

from crying!"

Meera shouted merrily.

She started to tickle Puzzle.

Boos are very ticklish,

and soon

he was squirming and giggling.

The more Meera tickled him,

the more he squirmed

until suddenly...

"Look! You're unstuck!"

cried Meera excitedly,

clapping her hands.

Puzzle blinked.

He wiggled his legs.

He wiggled his tail.

Then he wiggled his whole body,

just to make sure.

"Yay! I'm free!"

he trumpeted as he bounced

around the room.

He bounced onto her hand

and smiled.

"What would you like before I go?

Chocolates?

Shall I make your

school disappear?"

"Do you have to go?"

asked Meera sadly.

"I wish you could stay.

We could be friends!"

Boos didn't have human friends.

"That's a great idea!"

he squeaked.

"Just say

'Puzzle the Boo,

I want to see you'

and I'll come!"

"Promise?"

she asked.

"I promise!"

winked Puzzle.

The school bus honked loudly.

"Okay, we'll play after school.

See you later!"

she said

as she rushed outside.

After school,

Meera went to the garden.

She shut her eyes

and murmured

the magic words.

There was a humming sound,

and Puzzle appeared in a flash!

They laughed and played

until sunset.

And from that day on,

Meera and Puzzle

became best friends.

Today I inaugurate the new SuperLety column SOS responding to Rosanna's request for help

On Monday I published the video with a theme

the problem of indoor rubbing thighs and irritation that this imperfection

cause.

Among the various comments I received the request of help from Rosanna who wrote to me:

Quest'erba è però anche particolarmente invasiva e cerca di assorbire le risorse dal terreno

Per questo per coltivarla occorre piantala in vasi o far si che le sue radici sotto terra siano limitate

La menta è poi un'erba fragrante e utile per diversi scopi. Quando raccolta, può essere usata per fare tisane, preparare prodotti per il corpo e anche come medicamento per l'indigestione

Dunque se volete raccogliere delle foglie di menta potete seguire questi semplici consigli

Istruzioni 1 Determinate la quantità di menta che avete bisogno di raccogliere. 2 Tagliate la menta usando delle forbici

Tagliare i gambi della pianta a circa 3 cm di distanza da terra. Raccogliere l'intera pianta prima che arrivi il gelo

Raggruppare i gambi a gruppi di 6 o 8. Appendere i fasci a testa in giù in un ambiente caldo e asciutto

Le foglie di menta si seccano completamente in 3-5 giorni. Staccare i fasci con una leggera pressione quando le foglie diventano fragili e si sbriciolano facilmente tra le mani

Staccare le foglie dai gambi. Scartare questi ultimi. Conservare in un luogo fresco e asciutto per un anno al massimo
