Youtube daily report w Apr 16 2017

Hi I'm Mike and this is Our Wyoming Life

A couple weeks ago, I introduced you to the Moocall.

This small device, which is strapped to a cow's tail and will send you a text when

a cow is in labor and ready to have her calf.

We brought Bambi, a pet cow was bottle raised as a result of her mom dying during her birth

into the corral and because she was bottle raised and very friendly that made her a great

test subject, we put the Moocall device on her and powered it up.

After that it was just a matter of waiting for a text, which we got quite a few of.

As it turns out there is a trick to putting the Moocall on your cow, too tight and you

get false alarms, and too loose and she will manage to get it off and leave it laying in

the dirt, but I can tell you that the folks at Moocall have great customer service and

they will not stop until you get the hang of putting this thing on.

You want the Moocall working for you, not the other way around.

Each alert I got, I would check Bambi out, but, just like the Moocall manual says, the

it is not a substitute for actively checking your cows yourself, so every few hours I would

poke my head in the corral to check on Bambi, as well as 80 and Gunther.

Bambi has apparently been struck with stage fright, what I thought would just be a couple

day wait for her to calve has stretched out to a week but that's ok, Bambi you keep

your legs crossed, because we have a winter storm coming in tonight.

The national weather service is calling for 9 inches of snow overnight and winds up to

50 miles per hour, and with about 10 calves on the ground and out in the pasture where

they are subject to the weather and more calves being born every day, it's going to be a

long day and even longer night.

New calves don't have the experience or the instinct to deal with this weather so

they rely on their moms to keep them alive, but their moms are cold and tired too and

sometimes they drop the ball.

That's where we coming in, we will first get some straw out for the cows and put it

in the windbreaks.

The windbreaks are structures built to do exactly what the name implies, break the wind

and because during most of our winter storms the wind will blow from the north, that's

the way they face, giving the cows and calves someplace to hide out.

Putting straw in them adds a layer of insulation and is kind of like the continental breakfast

at the Hilton, it gives mom incentive to bring them in.

As the rain starts to fall and the temperature plummets the smart cows start to head in,

closer to home where they have more protection from the storm.

But some wont, some cows and usually those with newer calves will stay out.

It's part of their instinct to separate themselves from the herd, at least for the

first few days of their calves life, they do this to move away from more dominate cows

that might disturb the bonding process between them and their calf.

Older cows and more dominate cows won't do this, and it's just another of the interesting

quirks in cow behavior.

Rain quickly turns to snow and although some cows find the windbreaks and use the straw

to keep their calves warm, others don't and it's the cows that don't take their

calves to the windbreaks that we really need to keep an eye on tonight.

By nightfall, the snow is really coming down, and even finding calves becomes a real challenge,

but it's not long before we find a calf, frozen and cold in the snow.

Its mom nowhere around, we gather it up and get it in the warmer.

And after that another, then another.

The cold weather is really doing a number and it's just me out here all night, but

I'm trying to keep up and as we head back out that's when it happens….

A Moocall alert, 1:03am, we finish checking for lost calves and head back to the corral

where we find Bambi hanging out in a corner by herself.

Great timing Bambi, on one of the busiest nights of calving, well better safe than sorry.

I move Bambi into the barn, and into a corral.

The Moocall works by tracking the tail movements of a cow in labor.

Certain tail movements and patterns are triggered by labor contractions.

So when they meet a certain level of intensity over a certain period of time, it triggers

a text message just like this one.

Our second alert.

It's now 2:30 am and it looks like Bambi might be serious about having her calf but

we still have some time.

And we take advantage of the break to check our latest calf in the warmer and get her

out and moved into the calf corral.

Next we check Bambi we can see her water bag is out.

I'm sure that's not the technical name for it but it's the first real exterior

sign of calving.

Usually when a water bag comes out we only give a cow a couple of hours to have her calf.

Soon after it breaks when triggers intense labor, Bambi lies down and has her calf.

Afterwards she takes a little break for herself, I wouldn't know of course but it looks like

hard work, but soon the maternal instincts kick in and she's up and cleaning off her

calf, beginning the bonding process.

The calf gets up, and drinks and all is well.

And its 5:15am, and I can go get an hour sleep, before I'll be back up to survey the aftermath

of the storm.

The calves that we brought in to the barn last night to keep warm can be reunited with

their moms and we check all the cows, who have now found the windbreaks.

Mackenzie wakes up to the good news and soon is out in the barn, bonding with Bambi's

calf as well, which she named….

Princess Bliss, she begins her life on the ranch and thanks to Moocall.

Really, I mean it; Thanks to Moocall we had Princess Bliss without any complications or

problems.

I was so busy that I hadn't checked Bambi all night, she could have had her calf in

the snow and wet ground which could have really caused some major problems for her first few

hours of life.

I was out and picking up freezing calves all night, getting them in the warmer and I probably

would have never noticed Bambi had her calf until morning, by then it could have been

too late.

Thanks to Moocall, I received a message telling me what was going on with plenty of time get

her in barn, a warm and dry environment to have her calf.

So, is it worth it?

Yeah, it might have saved a calf already and it's already paid for itself in that aspect.

Cows that we are waiting to calve that we bring in for one reason or another will all

get a Moocall, and we can monitor them from anywhere.

I'll be the first to admit it, cows that are in or near the barn are the easiest to

check on but when things get busy and hairy, they are also the easiest to forget.

Thanks Moocall for keeping me in touch with my cows.

We really do hope you've enjoyed this episode.

I'm going to get some rest but we hope that you subscribe, like and comment, and I'm

going to ask you to take an extra minute to find us on Facebook at Our Wyoming Life.

Erin posts stuff on Facebook that isn't available anywhere else, you can track calving

through the week and see what we are up to, so take that extra time as a favor to me and

like and follow.

Have a great week, and thanks for joining us in Our Wyoming Life.

The Covenant are on Reach.

They will burn this planet, kill millions, and when Reach falls

and Earth.

Yet, even in our darkest hour,

hope remains.

Now, who will protect it ? Show me Noble Team.

Carter, Noble One. Born leader.

He turned Noble into more than just a collection of SPARTANs.

Set up a perimeter.

They will need him now more than ever.

Kat, Noble Two. She is brilliant.

I'll take that. Not your domain.

There are no technical hurdles she can't overcome. But her curiosity borders on insubordination.

Keep pressing.

Jun, Noble Three. As a sniper, his skills are unmatched.

I have visual on hostile infantry.

On this mission, distance may be a luxury he can't afford.

Curious. Hyper-lethal.

There's only one other Spartan with that rating.

Beating Fate

Chapter 2

Nice to meet you

What does a mother do, if she notices that her child ran away and a murderer creeps through the town?

Right, she drinks a cup of tea.

No, I'm just joking.

My mother called the police completely horrified, which hurried, because they didn't want to record further deaths.

Moments later the door rang, this could have only been the police.

"Yes? You can come in, the door is open."

She always leaves the door open, since we have a good relation to our neighbours.

Perhaps it wouldn't have been clever to leave it open in times like that, accessible for everyone.

Suddenly the police appeared in the living room.

One of them a male, black haired and probably about thirty years old, the other one was a female with blond hair and round about twenty-five years old.

"The police is here, as you insisted. What happened? You sounded completely upset on the telephone", the officer asked worried.

Poor mother – she blinked her tears back and tried to explain the officers the breaking news, which were shown hours ago.

Also, she pointed out how I wasn't in a good mood in the morning and that she is bothered about the fact that I eloped and the murderer is running free outside.

The police understood her sorrows and collected all necessary information.

Later, on the same day, I met him.

He walked around an area with many apartments and a woman next to him, which seemed to be simple-minded.

It wouldn't have surprised me, if she was the person, who invented the word "naive".

Both looked at each other holding hands.

As she was looking at him amorously, he looked rather bored, scanning the area and sometimes stared at her neckline.

I didn't think of anything suspicious at that point.

For now, I had finished with the men's world, all of them should do what they want to do.

Woman could still continue not minding being propositioned by all kinds of men, I however, didn't care much.

"It is unbelievable how quickly this turned into a relationship. We attract almost magnetically", the girl tried to keep the conversation going.

I couldn't hide a grin.

If she only knew, what kind of assholes men could be, then she would know what prickles him.

The conversation got kinky too fast and I just wanted to pass by.

As I passed by, our eyes met for one moment.

His look meant nothing good, he stared at me like a trophy, which you get after winning a competition.

My heart was beating so fast and loud, that I could hear it.

Could he also hear my heartbeat?

"What did you say was your job?"

And the spell was broken.

With caution, I carried on, as if every step could be my last one.

His look followed me in my thoughts, he wouldn't leave me alone.

Who was he?

It was getting dark already and I didn't have any shelter.

I definitely didn't want to go home, because I scooted.

At this moment, there was only one person on my mind, to which I could go to, though I didn't want to see him in my whole life ever again.

"Marvin? This is Chloé."

My voice was coy, talking to him on the telephone, while waiting for an answer.

"I know, we are done with each other. It's over, but I eloped from home.

Equally I don't have a sleeping accommodation for tonight and the weather is so cold, you are my last resort."

This was a big confession.

Marvin has surely enjoyed it.

A few days after we broke up, his ex is calling him again, asking for a stay.

It was a clear victory for him, but for me it was my last opportunity for a save shelter.

He had to rub it in and answered:

"What do you want from me, Chloé? Like I already told you, we are done and now you're crawling back to me. Isn't it funny?"

My ex needed one minute to feel superior.

What a jerk!

"As I said, I don't know what to do. It is just for one night, please let me in", I implored embarrassingly.

"If that's what you would like to do, then go for it. You can stay for one night, but only because a murderer is moving around the area."

Why was he telling me that in this inappropriate moment?

I was alone at a creepy petrol station and he is telling me that a murderer is on the loose in Chemir?

"Why do you know about this?", I questioned.

"It was shown on television, he is about 1.80 meters tall, has short brunette hair and is searching especially for female victims."

All of my surroundings froze and I tried to remember the guy I met before.

The description matched the guy, who looked at me strange.

He shall be a murderer?

And the most important:

I already met him?

Learning Japanese in a Classroom - Kotatsu TV - Episode 21 - Duration: 8:15.

Hello! I'm Shiro, I'm Nari!

We got the question 'why are you guys always wearing the same shirt'?

Yeh, WT*** Oh I can't say that

Yeah, why are you also wearing black !

He is always copying me! Because I have good taste in Fashion Alright, what's the next question?

The next question is 'how is it to be a pupil of Shiro and Nari?'

We always ask a question to our students when we are at chapter 13 Gettin on the bus and getting off the bus lol

Then one student says she gets off the bus, and that's it Shiro asks this question every year

Omg quit it hahahah

Stop it!!! let's talk about something else!!

OMG LOL

Stop it, already!! Stooooppp!!

Answering the question, a lot of people think we can't be teachers because we're so young

They somehow expect an old man of 60 that will talk about his past in the war or something

So, sometimes we walk in and just sit next to them as if we're also students

After a while, we stand up and start talking Japanese in front of the class

We use dirty language in Japanese, so the students will think we are cool

And they'll think we actually master the language

Most of the time you learn Japanese in the correct way with correct grammar and so on But our priority is to be able to talk in Japanes with other Japanese people

So, we think that the ability to talk is more important

You eventually make some friends with your skills!

We are very practical in teaching, so we most of the time just ignore the books

For example, ichi, ni, san, yon. What's wrong with it? Well, nothing is wrong

They teach you in books that you should say 'yon' because 'shi' is assosciated with death

But, they usually say 'shi'

Sometimes you see that a building does not have a fourth floor because it means 'death'

To make the lesson more fun and comfortable, we mostly play games such as battles

By doing the battles, we test their Japanese skills in a fun way

The team that is the fastest wins, and the team that lost gets a punishment

The two teams play rock, paper and scissors at the end of the game The team that loses, has to do things like planking, singing or dancing

We'll show you one of our classes, and also do a battle. Lets see if Shiro cheats again

Hello! I'm Nari, I'm Shiro! Welcome to Kotatsuuuuu!!!

We're now going to break into two teams for the battle

We'll play Shiritori in 40 seconds

It's actually a draw... but punishment for Shiro's team!

Hi! I'm Annelies, I'm a student of Kotatsu

I'm Atakan

How old are you?

Me... I'm 18

And you?

I'm 20! What's in your pocket?

A phone!

Can I use your phone for a while?

Hello?

Hi, you're speaking with Yoshi! Hello!

Hello??www

If you followed our online courses in our videos, you should know how to say 'my camera' in Japanese

I will give you some options: 1. Watashi wa camera desu 2. Watashi no camera desu 3. camera no watashi desu

Well the first option says that you are the camera, you're not, right? The third one says that the camera owns you, I hope that's not the case

So, the answer is option 2: Watashi no camera desu

I CAN'T Multitask - Duration: 2:33.

Hi guys!

What's up, it's Sam!

So today I wanted to talk to you about something that greatly affects me.

Which is the fact that I'm a terrible multi-tasker.

Like, you know how they say women are supposedly good multi-taskers?

Apparently my brain didn't get the message because I can't do two things at once.

I mean, I can do the obvious stuff like walking and talking, or chewing gum and reading a

book, but all the other stuff, the BIG stuff like, you know, all the creative stuff, like

YouTube, drawing, writing.

Once I focus on one thing, everything else falls to the wayside.

And this is the case right now.

Just because I'm focused on school and YouTube means that I haven't drawn anything and I

haven't written anything for a good month.

This affects me so much because as I've mentioned in a previous video, I really want to be a

renaissance woman, I want to learn everything.

Okay, well maybe not everything, but like, a lot of things.

I love the idea that I could do whatever I wanted, you know, if I need something done,

I could be the person I come to for that thing to be done.

Like, I wanna be able to you know, carve wood stuff, little wood statues, or whatever.

I wanna write my books, I wanna write my characters, and I wanna draw my characters and their comic

and their story.

And I also wanna do YouTube, I want to do it all (Okay, Liz Lemon.)

But my problem is, that I can't focus on two things at the same time.

So I'm not really sure how to remedy this, but I wanted to kind of talk about it today,

just because it does affect me, and I do think about it a lot.

So if you are affected by this, and you have any stories about, you know, a time when you

were focused on one thing more than another, or you have any suggestions for me, I'd love

to hear them in the comments.

And if you liked this video, you can give it a thumbs up, and if you wanna see more

from me and be told when I make a new video, you can hit the subscribe button.

And I'll see you guys in the next one, bye!

Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions - Duration: 7:23.

Hello and welcome back to Switch & Lever!

As this channel has been growing steadily over the last few years there are some questions

that are being asked time and time again.

So it's about time for a top ten questions asked.

Let's dive right into it with hands down the most asked question:

Shoo!

Shoo!

Get out of here!

Sorry about that.

Yes, I am Swedish.

Next question.

That's a great excuse for not doing anything!

In reality, most tools can be replaced with other tools, and all power tools can definitely

be replaced with hand tools.

Power tools don't enable you to do anything magical, but it will in most cases enable

you to do what you want quicker.

If you're still hell bent on using tools and machines that you don't personally own there

are still several routes to go by it.

At the very least there are Maker Spaces, Tech Shops, Fablabs and whatever they're called

scattered around much of the world already.

For a small monthly fee you get access to their machines.

Otherwise you can befriend people with workshops, look into community colleges or schools, or

other companies which may be persuaded to share their workshops.

But again, most importantly, the tool do not make the project.

Use your ingenuity and the vast resources of YouTube and Google to find alternative

routes to your end goal!

I don't know, try it, what's the worst that could happen?

You get experience of what works by trying and failing, not worrying about doing things

correctly to the point of not even starting.

Failure is one of the most important things in the workshop, it's what you learn the most

from, and it teaches you how to rescue your projects when you make that inevitable mistake.

I cannot even begin to mention how many of my projects have taken an unexpected turn

halfway through the project.

Failure is not the end, it's just one part of the process going forward!

Safety third, at the least when it comes to safety-gear.

In my book there are two far more important things, focus on what you're doing, and knowledge

about the machine you're working with.

All you need is a moment of lapsed focus and you can lose a hand, or doing blatantly dangerous

things simply because you don't understand your machine.

Safety-gear is important, no doubt, but no amount of safeguards can prevent an unfocused

person with limited knowledge of what they're doing from hurting themselves.

Hell could open up behind you and you should still have the focus to turn off your machine

safely before turning around.

In most cases, no.

The time, energy and material cost that goes into what I make would make most things ridiculously

expensive, even without considering making a profit from one offs, and I have no plans

of going into serial production.

However, speaking about plans, there are other plans in the works of making some small items

for sale through the Switch & Lever online store, as well as more in depth written instructions

to go with many of my videos.

Keep watching this space!

You could indeed, but where is the fun in that?

In most cases you're going to end up with a low quality object that you have no personal

attachment to.

I'm a huge opponent to the use and throw mentality that is so common around the world, and is

a huge cause of our environmental pollution.

Beside that there is again the joy of making something with your own two hands.

The process of making is many cases much more interesting and fun than holding the final

object in my hand, why would I want to replace that with a box shipped in from China, or

elsewhere in the world?

I very rarely take comissions, so the answer is most likely no.

Most of what I make it make for myself, to fill a need or to teach myself something new,

or simply as gifts for family and friends.

Still, feel free to get in touch!

Whatever software does the job.

The reason I never mention software in my videos is because there are so many different

software packages that do the same job.

For CAD work I mainly use Solidworks, but now teaching myself Autodesk Fusion 360, because

of its very handy cam integration.

I use a lot of other 3d softwares as well, for visualization purposes.

Video and audio editing is mainly done with software from Adobe, but there are many many

different options to them out there.

I'm not going to start listing them, as that would make for a long and boring video.

It's listed in the description.

I only use Creative Commons music, or music placed in the public domain.

Probably because you were acting way out of line.

Abusive comments go down the drain directly, so does comments with a massive amount of

profanities or sexual content, misogyny, hate speech or racism.

I'm trying to promote an open and welcoming environment in my comment field.

If you came here thinking it's like much of the rest of YouTube, you're mistaken.

This leads me to my final point of this video though, trolls:

Audiobook: Nice to meet you – Beating Fate #S01E02 [only subtitles] - Duration: 5:20.

Woman Once Known as 'Half-Ton Killer' Loses 800 Pounds and Shares Her Weight Loss Journey! - Duration: 2:06.

Mayra Rosales has lost 800 pounds since the TLC "Half-Ton Killer," star previously

weighed 1,000 pounds, according to TV station KTLA.

"I was dying," the star told the media outlet.

"I don't know if you had seen pictures before – you could see it in my face.

I had given up in life.

I was alive but not living a life."

Rosales first came to the public's awareness after being accused of accidently "crushing"

her eight-year-old nephew to death, which was reportedly "a lie to protect her sister,"

KTLA reported.

She gained nationwide attention after TLC documented the case in the television program,

"Half-Ton Killer?"

Prosecutors eventually dropped the charges against Rosales after determining she had

lied to protect her sister.

Rosales explained that at the time, she had given up on life.

"I was dying.

I don't know if you had seen pictures before you could see it in my face.

I had given up in life," she told the television station.

"I was alive but not living a life."

Confined to her bed because of her weight, Rosales felt like she was a prisoner.

But about 7 years later and 800 pounds lighter, she has a much different outlook on life.

She was able to lose the weight through multiple surgeries — including a lap band procedure

— and dieting.

She is 30 pounds away from her goal weight, the station reported Wednesday.

Whereas she once lived to eat, Rosales told KTRK her perspective has completely changed.

"Food to me is I have to eat to live … it's just something normal," she said.

Rosales hopes sharing her story will encourage and motivate others who are struggling with

their weight like she once did.

Her advice to them: "Do not lose hope and keep fighting because we only have one life,

and it's well worth fighting for it."

Pork medallions with Bacon Flavored Maple Glaze and a Unique Baked Potato - Duration: 6:20.

today I'll show you how to save money

before we get cooking though I have to

do this I'm in my home and most likely

your home as well and I thank you for

that so let's get comfortable enough the

formalities I don't need to wear a

chef's coat is my own house put on VA

their bus warhol you know buying in bulk

saves you money in this video I'm going

to show you how to take advantage of

bulk pork tenderloins we are going to

make pork medallions with a bacon

flavored maple topping and a unique

crispy baked potato so let's get cooking

right now

I'm your family's personal chef Mike

poses if you like this video please

don't forget to click the thumbs up icon

and if you like more of these please

subscribe I post new recipes every

Sunday I usually buy my proteins I'm

projects in bulk at a local Costco

package of five tenderloins only costs

about sixteen dollars and 42 that's only

about three dollars each I invested in a

vacuum sealer a few years ago this unit

is great since there's no freezer burn

that's where dehydration and oxidation

occur due to air reaching your food

essentially ruining your meat and your

hard-earned money now one of the things

you have to think about is how to

diversify your meals so let's it doesn't

get boring if you buy in bulk you don't

want to eat the same protein cook the

same way every time so let's cook my

bacon flavored maple-glazed pork

medallions here's late we'll need one

pork tenderloin two large russet

potatoes some cured pork belly that's a

thick bacon 125 milliliters of pure

maple syrup one shallot small of oil and

salt and pepper now that we have

everything ready it's time to prepare

the meal one pork tenderloin is enough

protein for two people but we have to

trim off the silver skin and the fat for

roasting unstad is completed clean your

board and prepare your potatoes wash

your potatoes to remove any bruises or

eyes then cut off the bottom trim off

the end so you have a nice rectangle of

flat bottom then between two wooden

spoons so we don't cut all the way

through we're going to slice about

one-eighth of an inch thick the potato

is enough for one serving here's my

little trick put a drop of olive oil

between the slices that way they want to

stick together

then season with kosher salt and pepper

cut your fourth bag and a quarter inch

pieces we will render these down and use

the fat for the glaze you've seen me do

this many times finely dice your shallot

of the glaze something has been prepped

now to start the cooking I'll use the

time it takes to cook the potatoes to

make everything else and have it ready

for service nice and hot on a flat

baking sheet put down some parchment

paper and place the potatoes on there

with the space between them airflow is

the key for crispiness these will go

into the oven promote an hour in another

that's a frying pan turn the heat on to

about 180 degrees Celsius or medium high

and put your cured pork in the pan to

render down this will take anywhere from

three to five minutes remove the

rendered pork to a paper towel leading

the fat in the frying pan put your

tenderloin in will sear it on all sides

and the ends for about a minute on each

side you can tuck the thin parts under

the tenderloin for uniform cooking in

the oven

once the Tenderloin is seared clicks in

the oven for about 15 minutes now that

our turn to loan has been cooked in the

oven you want to take it out and let it

rest for at least 10 minutes cover with

tin foil the traffic a residual heat it

will still be cooking and what we're

looking for is a nice juicy medium-rare

while the pork is still resting turn the

stove on again to about a medium heat

with the same frying pan then add your

shallots sweat these for about two

minutes and then add your maple syrup

and then turn off the heat we don't want

to make rock candy here now that our

pork is finished resting cut into above

1 inch slices let's put it all together

from the oven pleats your potato put

your fork on the plate slightly

separating the slices add some

vegetables gently drizzle your bacon

flavored maple glaze over your pork and

surf and here is my bacon flavored

maple-glazed pork tenderloin with crispy

baked potatoes and vegetables if you

like this recipe please give it a thumbs

up and if you would like to see a

particular recipe or topic leave me a

comment if you want more information you

can head over to the personal chef blog

where you can print the recipes

presented here and I add new content

every other day thank you for watching
