Letters to an Asexual #47 (Religion and Asexuality) - Duration: 33:40.

Hey folks, it's swankivy, and I'm here to bring you another episode of Letters to an

Asexual.

This is number 47.

Um, and, I'm, uh, not feeling super good these days and, you know, as a result of that, I

am making a video without having put a lot of thought or preparation or energy into what

I'm gonna say, so I hope you'll forgive me for making this a kinda sloppy video.

Uh, but I'm not really gonna have another time when it's convenient to record this and

I still wanna bring something out this month so um, I'm just gonna take a less prepared

crack at this.

Uh, my topic today that I would like to discuss is asexuality and religion.

And your perspective on your orientation if you're an asexual person, uh, may be affected

by your religion.

You may have different perspectives even within the same religion, just based on who you are

and how your religion figures into your life if you have one, and then also how people

in your life who maybe, like, religious family members or religious significant others, or

just, um, people in general looking at asexuality from the--from a religious perspective.

Uh, it will vary hugely among different religions and different people within those religions,

and it will also be influenced somewhat by whether they consider asexuality to be, like,

an "alternative sexuality," so to speak, or whether they consider it to be basically the

same as being straight by default, like some people do even though that's not really accurate.

So um, again, because I am doing this kinda off the cuff, I hope that you'll forgive me

for also fumbling around using my own book to help me, 'cause I've written about this

before, and so I'm just gonna look at the religion chapter while I do this so that I

don't leave something out that I wanted to talk about.

Um, so, gonna talk about that, but, uh, first I would like to say that, um, there are some

religions that actually mention something that could be interpreted as, um, a position

on asexuality, and one of them, believe it or not, is mainstream Christianity that uses

the New Testament as its Bible, so um, I think I wanna start there, lemme see if I can find,

uh, the religion section in my book here so that I can read a quote to you.

Um, all right.

Religious stuff.

Um.

So when I first started talking about the intersection of, like, religious perspectives

and asexuality for my book, um, I did, I started with, uh, Christian perspectives just because

that was so commonly discussed in my community, about um, whether it was just gonna be assumed

that, uh, asexual people are people who stay virgins and that isn't that a good thing in

a lot of religious communities, that they want you to remain a virgin and that it makes

you "pure."

And I mean, that kinda has its own, uh, problematic aspects, the idea of "purity" being associated

with sex, and morality, but um, the problem is there's a flip side of that, which is that

there's commandments associated with getting married, and they suggest that when you are

in a marriage, that you're supposed to have sex, and that it's, uh, wrong to "deny" your

partner sexual union in the hopes of having children, and you know, that has so many problems

with it, partly because some people want to be married and not have sex, and also because

it suggests that marriage is, uh, something that should necessarily be formed for the

purpose of producing children, and some people can't have children, um, or they shouldn't

because of health reasons or other reasons, so reserving marriage for the production of

children has all kinds of problems with it, but in the New Testament, there is a--there's

a quote from, uh, from Corinthians 7:8-9, in the New International Version, I'm reading,

I'm looking that up, um, where I guess it was Paul said, this is a quote, "Now to the

unmarried and the widows, I say, it is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do, but if

they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn

with passion."

And he also continues by saying, "I say this as a concession, not as a command.

I wish that all of you were as I am.

But each of you has your own gift from God.

One has this gift, another has that."

And he's suggesting there that if you--if you wanna have sex and you can't control yourself,

it's better to marry the person that you wanna have sex with so that that won't be a "sinful"

union, and if you have beliefs associated with how marriage should figure into your

religion, ya know, you may be able to use that in--you know, if you are a Christian

person and you're asexual, and your community or your parents or somebody in your--in your

circle is giving you issues about how this is against God, you can quote Paul, and say

"ya know, look, he, he says this straight out that asexual people exist, or at least

people that don't desire sex," um, you know, it's oversimplified and problematic in its

own way, but this is a straight-up acknowledgment that some people who don't have that desire

exist in the world.

But unfortunately it seems like it's, you know, staying unmarried and not having sex,

those are two things that are lumped together and that marriage is always for being in a

union with someone and having sex with them, so you know, it'll--it'll have limited usefulness,

I guess, if you're using Biblical support to defend your orientation for somebody who

may find that to be important, um, but it is there, I mean, that's a--that's a straight-up

quote.

And it's in a couple different places.

So um, I uh, I also wanna say that chastity is prized in a lot of, uh, dialogues that

are in religious communities.

But at the same time, they seem to have it centered around waiting the right person.

The assumption is generally that you're either going to find someone and eventually give

yourself to them in a sexual union, presumably for the purpose of having children, or you're

going to remain celibate and you're gonna be doing that in a religious context.

And um, that you're gonna be doing it to devote yourself to God, or you know, they say "become

a nun!"

The, uh, suggestion that I should become a nun for some reason, because of not having

sex has, I mean, I've heard that so many times, it's ridiculous.

And I'm like, "Well, wouldn't the fact that I'm not Catholic have something to do with

why I shouldn't do that?"

But no, they associated it so strongly with celibacy that they think that's, like, the

primary focus.

I mean, I know it's a joke and all, but anyway, uh.

So, I actually know someone that wanted to become a nun when they were younger, um, and

they said that they were thinking about taking the first steps to become a nun, and they

were told by somebody who was a nun that they should not do it.

Because, um, the abstention from sex is supposed to be a sacrifice, so if it's not a sacrifice

for you, if it's just a natural part of what you would be doing anyway, then they say this

particular nun said to them, to my friend, that that makes you ill-suited for being a

nun.

So I mean, there's an example of someone in the church rejecting someone for their asexuality.

Or at least for their lack of sex drive.

It gets very mixed up because we're not real clear on what exact part of it they're rejecting

or that they have problems with.

Uhh.

So, um, so I have also had contact with people who, you know, as they move into the age where

they're "supposed to be" settling down with a marriage partner, their families will get

aggressive about trying to do matchmaking with them for someone that they think is a

good match, and uh, they'll start to create a hostile atmosphere in the home or in the

family unit, to uh, encourage that person to accept, uh, these, um, aggressive situations

where they're trying to make them date them or make them get married when they may not

want to.

And um, someone I had direct contact with was saying that they were gonna, they--they.

their family was threatening to uh, kick them out of the house if they didn't obey what

the parent wanted, um, in this specific thing, they were treated like they were a, uh, spoiled

child who was refusing to honor their parents' wishes.

And uh, this was offered in a religious context as well.

So in that case, you hear people say asexual people don't have enough in common with, you

know, LGBT folks to be joining these communities because they don't face the possibility of

violence or rejection from inside of their family, but I've heard stories like that a

bunch of times.

I also heard from somebody who said that um, they tried to come out to their parents, and

their dad was so angry about it, um, that they had to pretend it was a joke until a

couple of months down the road their dad finally, like, calmed down and stopped harassing them

about it, um, and you know, they were threatening to kick them out of the house because they

said this, and they had to pretend it was a joke.

Um, so.

Huh.

Long story short, um, there are plenty of accounts I've heard from people in my community

who have had a religious perspective informing aggression, hostility, rejection within mostly

traditional families, you know, where they think the person is, they're rejecting their

culture or they're not adhering to commandments.

And um, you know, now I'm gonna go on to a related religion on that note.

Um.

I come from a Jewish background and the Jewish side of my family, which you know, is my dad's

side, um, my mom converted before I was born so, because it was, as it's told to me it

was important to my dad's side to have Jewish children, so I was raised Jewish, and I didn't

really hear perspectives like this, I guess because they weren't incredibly religious,

but you know, my grandfather was a cantor, it's kind of, it's like a religious singer,

if you don't know what that is, in the temple, so I mean, he was basically clergy.

Um, and so there was some of this perspective in my background, but I never heard anything

about perspectives on, like, marriage or anything like that but it's a very, um, there's a very

specific commandment for Jewish people that, you know they're supposed to get married and

replace themselves and their spouse.

They're supposed to try to have a boy and a girl, and then they've fulfilled this.

Um.

It's raining here.

Sorry.

Florida has, um, it's summer right now as I'm making this, June, and Florida has afternoon

thunderstorms almost every day.

Nice little trivia for you about Florida weather.

It's really weird.

Anyway.

Um, let me see.

Um, in my book I wrote um, "in traditional Judaism propagation of the people is of primary

importance, and some doctrines even say celibacy breaks religious law since it constitutes

failure to fulfill the divine command to have children."

Which I footnoted and the quote is "Every man is obligated to marry a woman in order

to reproduce.

Anyone who is not having children is as if they were killers."

So um, and of course also the "Be fruitful and multiply," that's from the Old Testament,

so that's uh, a perspective that comes out of the Jewish religion is um, you're supposed

to do everything that you can to put more of your group onto the planet.

And uh, regardless of whether you have children, um, you know, asexuality is linked in a lot

of people's minds to childlessness, and um, it's almost like it's, uh, across many many

cultures there's this almost humorously framed idea of parents flipping out over their children

NOT GIVING THEM GRANDCHILDREN, HOW DARE YOU.

But you know, it's a real thing that even though they kinda make a joke out if it, you

can, you can really get harassed by your parents and taught that you're selfish if you don't

have kids.

So um, I mean that has its roots in a lot of different religions.

Um, by the way, while I was researching for this book, you know, I talked to a bunch of

people in the community when I was trying to figure out what perspectives I may not

have considered that I should consider, and one of the most contributed-to sections was

this section on religion, where people from different backgrounds that um, I was not a

part of had given me thoughts on it.

And one of those was, um, some of my Muslim readers had given me some perspectives.

And um, one of the quotes that was offered to me was regarding how um, Islam says um,

my book says, "though marriage is emphasized as expected, there's still room for celibacy,

but similarly it's recommended only for those who don't marry."

And the quote there is "If one's healthful condition, integrity of heart, and peace of

soul reside in celibacy, then that is better for him, since these are things that are desired

of marriage.

If one can reach these without marriage, then celibacy causes no harm."

Um, and I can, I can quote these and their sources in the info of this video if you'd

like.

Um, so, then there was some talk about, um, what is essentially like, atheistic religions,

um, many forms of, like, Buddhism are more like philosophy, I guess, they're practiced

that way at least, they're not focused on a, a deity, um, and, uh, you can kinda go

back and forth on that, it's--there's lots of different kinds of Buddhism, so um, some

of the ones that have been popularized in the West are not necessarily, they might not

even be recognizable to people who actually practice them in the East, but um, I have

a uh, a reference in the book about um, how uh, this is something that I actually heard

from someone who claimed to be Buddhist, who said, um, that a--a very similar to my friend

who said that they were not uh, permitted to become a nun because of this, um, cleansing

oneself of sexual desire is you know, part of what you do to try to make yourself have

fewer desires and wants, and therefore more peace.

Um, and if that part comes to you naturally, then it's, it's not something that you learned.

It's not a lesson that you undertook and purged from yourself.

Um, so it--it may be perceived as being "too easy," and therefore not valid.

So um, anyway um, what's really bizarre to me is that there are some people who are accepting

of same-sex marriage and queer relationships and sometimes even trans folks, they're accepting

of that but they're not accepting of asexuality.

And that's weird to me, when they're like that, but usually what will happen is if you

try to invoke, like, "You wouldn't say that to a gay person!"

"You wouldn't deny a gay person--" usually yeah they would.

Usually those things go hand in hand.

Not all the time, but most of the time, if you dig around for the person's perspectives,

you'll find that they actually are transphobic.

They actually are homophobic.

Um, you know, or they, they may be accepting and claim that because they don't "hate" those

groups then therefore they're accepting, but actually they still believe that we all have

a disorder because everything that does not contribute to reproduction is by definition

a biological disorder.

And I've heard that so many times too, and more often than not, it comes from pseudo-scientific

people.

People who think that they're spouting biological perspectives when you know, a lot of the people

who actually study sexuality that I've had contact with, they have no such perspective.

But um, you would kind of think that these things would come more often out of religious

perspectives, but they don't.

They're much more often offered by wannabe scientists who don't really understand science

either but think that they're objective or think that they're very rational.

And a lot of times they're really not.

Let's see, what else do I have here.

Um, I'm gonna give you a quote from, uh, one of the other asexual activists who--whose

writings I like.

Um, here's a quote about chastity in association with asexuality and morality.

Quote, "If asexuals are chaste, it's not usually because they hold it up as a virtue.

It's because they would rather be chaste, regardless of whether or not they happen to

think it is a virtue.

I certainly do not regard chastity as a virtue.

Furthermore, like many other asexuals, I am not chaste.

I find it really offensive to stuff these values into my mouth and pretend that's what

I asked for."

And that leads me to another perspective, is that so many people will uh, assume that

you're religious, that you're subscribing to some kind of chastity vow if you say that

you're asexual, they'll associate that with not having--not being sexually active, and

also thinking that you're pure, and also thinking that you're better than other people.

I hope you can still see me in the camera, 'cause now I'm laying down.

I'm feeling like crap, sorry.

Um, so let's see what else do I have, um.

Oh yeah.

I should probably talk about mine.

Um, so it's hard for me to really nail down a, uh, specific "religion" that I would say

I belong to, um, but I identify as like an atheistic Pagan.

And so, Paganism is definitely something that I, um, relate to and, uh, I don't know if

I would say it's a practice for me anymore, um, I have explored some practices of sort

of a--an eclectic take on Paganism, but um, I think it's just more of a philosophy for

me, that I like the idea of being connected to the past and being connected to the Earth.

And so some of the holiday celebrations that I do will just be mostly about redecorating

my house to reflect the seasons and acknowledging the cycle and the spiral of the year.

I like to bake things that are seasonal.

Uh, but I don't worship anything.

I don't, like, I think of, like, Gods and Goddesses and whatnot as sort of a celebration

of humanity's tendency to personalize and humanize things, um, and uh, anyway, in a

lot of uh, Pagan circles, you will find open and accepting groups and practices uh, for

a lot of diverse sexualities.

Um, you don't find a whole lot of homophobic-by-nature uh, like, Wiccan groups or Pagan groups.

Occasionally you will find some homophobia and transphobia in, uh, maybe something that

would be certain stripes of Dianic Witchcraft and whatnot because, like, they might be focused

on Goddess worship and assume that you have to have been born with a vagina to be "really

a woman," and there's a lot of focus in certain very traditional types of witchcraft and certain

kinds of Paganism on male/female polarity, like that there's a Goddess and a God, and

therefore all of nature is masculine or feminine, and while I can appreciate some of that as

uh, symbolism, I think it can be dangerous to divide everything like that, especially

with people.

And associating reproduction with sexual reproduction, not all reproduction IS sexual in nature.

So ya know, not supporting same-sex or uh, not supporting nonbinary people um, and any

relationships that they might have, uh, I don't think that there's much of an excuse

for that, um, using a nature religion to justify it.

But in any case, um, a lot of times you'll be able to find nature religions that are

accepting of asexuality, but because there is this focus on sexual celebrations, like

there's, there's sometimes symbolic or even literal sex in certain rituals depending on

the type of group that you go to.

There's a lot of, you know, um, a lot of symbolism that is very sexual, and uh, sometimes they

will look at you if you're asexual or you're chaste, um, they will look at you as if you're,

"Oh, you're a prude."

And that you're not in touch with whatever uh, natural inclinations that they think you

should have.

Um, so sometimes you can find, um, outright hostility in certain kinds of Pagan groups,

and again I'm NOT saying all.

Just like I'm not saying all with Christian groups and other more traditional religious

groups, you're not gonna find it everywhere.

You're always gonna be able to find uh, examples of more accepting, more tolerant religious

groups.

But um, I have heard of some people having a hard time in a group when they've joined

and they found everything was pretty cool until they disclosed that they were asexual

and then people treated them like, "Oh, you must not be in touch with your real sexual

self, your spiritual self, your Earthly self, you need to get past that, and you need to

have sex, because it's natural."

Um, so I mean you do sometimes see that and even if you don't see direct pressure to have

sex yourself, sometimes these communities can be very sexualized.

And um, you know, they'll treat you like your failure to participate or you being squicked

by it in any way is you know, judgment of them or, ya know, it can just be hard for

an asexual person to be in a very sexualized space of any kind.

And ya know, come to think of it, that has been a complaint among ya know, not just asexual

people, but people in general who wanna participate in queer activism.

Sometimes spaces are--have become very sexualized in response to not being allowed to have that,

not being allowed to be proud of it, or not being allowed to express it in other places

where it's either not safe or you're just treated like you're gross.

Um, so these spaces sometimes become very sexualized, and then they may not be friendly

for certain people who may be sexual assault survivors, people who may be from backgrounds

that they find that very distasteful, people who are asexual, people who you know, may

have a problem with it for some other reason.

You know, it's just, there are all kinds of ways that you can end up encountering that

in queer spaces that uh, can be kinda similar to what I'm talking about with Pagan spaces

being very sexualized.

And they're doing that for a different reason, they're doing it to celebrate, but sometimes

they can make it unfriendly to people like us.

Um, you know, if you happen to be one of the people that is uh, not comfortable with that.

And I'm, I'm kind of one of those people, that I'm comfortable with it theory but I

don't personally actually wanna be involved or probably don't wanna see too much of it.

So you know, I would be, I'd be more of the, um, perspective that I should remove myself

from those types of groups if I don't like what they're doing.

Um, but sometimes if that's the only thing available for--and it's serving other needs

that you have, sometimes it can be hard to have that kind of stuff going on in your--in

your space and you, you uh, are uncomfortable with it or something.

So um, let's see, um, well I'm sure that there are uh, perspectives in um, re--both religions

that I haven't covered and uh, perspectives in religions that I HAVE covered that I haven't

covered that particular perspective, but I think I've run out of juice here, and I've

probably been talking for a while so I think I'm gonna end the video here, and you can

feel free to talk in my comments if you have stuff that you wanna talk about, about uh,

maybe your own experiences with religion and asexuality, and um, I hope that um, you've

been okay with, uh, watching me kinda fumble my way through this video.

Uh, because I know that it's not very good quality and that I'm really just not in too

good a shape to be doing it right now, so I hope you've been able to bear with me here

and um, hopefully next time I make a video I'll be feeling better.

So.

I'll see y'all next time.

Bye!

My Work with Mormon Helping Hands - Duration: 10:29.

[music] hi

hello this is my good friend Jimmy Strickland

and I'm Kip Twitchell we've been helping Jimmy here

for a number of weeks what happened

we had a tornado on the 29th of April

we heard there were storms in the area we had gone downstairs

sat there for a while and nothing happened we decided to go back up

in the dark electricity was out

we had a lantern going we had our granddaughter call

and she talked about the storms we heard a long

thunder that wouldn't quit

like you had never heard before and I went to the front door

and the pressure just wrapped around me and I knew something was not right

and I yelled at my wife and the first time in 53 years of marriage

she did what I told to do when I told her to do it

anyway she grabbed her purse and we went down stairs

and just as we got the bottom of the stairs as soon as I got her sit down

the laundry room window blew out and all this other racket

and we could see things flying by

up those steps and insulation started coming down

on us and one of the pictures on the wall

fell off then things got really quiet

and we came back up the stairs and there was a man at the front door

wanting to know if we was alright we found out later he was a storm chaser

and he saw the storm coming towards us said it was going away from us

and then came back and got us and I blame my wife

because she's been wanting a new couch a new couch

a new couch so that's on the plan here

somewhere in the midst of all of this we will get a new couch

so tell us about your life before the tornado you were a fighter fighter

spent 32 years on the Dallas Fire Department

two years on the Police Department there in Dallas

I've been retired 17 years and we lived here

and we've been involved with the Lion's Club so I get the sense

from your work you have feelings of

you know what service is we've always been on the other end of it

this has been really, really hard people like your group

come down here weekend after weekend.

It's just unbelievable the outpouring of help I've seen

tell me how you felt throughout your life

giving service how did that bless you

in giving service fire department

Lion's club service well that's just what you do

that's just part of life we had memos

from the city of Dallas on the bottom of that memo

it said the only reason you are here

is to serve the citizens of Dallas that meant a lot to me

service has been a part of my life always

you go out and fight fires help people

most terrible situation they are even in their lives

you are on the front lines with them you go home

it is important to get a pay check and support your family

but I suspect similar to people coming to serve you

when they drive home they have some good feelings

about the time they have spent here and the difference they made

I suspect you felt that in your life I have

but it's different situation like I said

I've never been on that end of it accept and the character of the people

I'm seeing one of you guys

was in Arkansas last weekend they came through Texarkana

and he said well we're close to Canton

why don't we go down there and work a while

he and his son that's 40-45 miles

out of their way off of the Interstate

but they came by and work and I just happen to drive by

and I saw them doing it otherwise I never would have known

they just sneaked in and did it made it different

and they found things out here just little things

that wouldn't mean anything to anybody they found them in the pasture

brought them to me knowing that it might mean

something to me just a few minutes ago

the lady handed me a hand full of marbles that belonged to my wife

we had those in a vase in our bedroom and they were gone

and a part of a nativity set she had up on the mantle

I don't know how we kept from starting a fire there was a lantern on the mantel

that was lit it's gone

we have not idea where that went you think that falling the house in the storm

it could have started a fire we've had things that blew away out here

just unbelievable so how long

we've been working a long time on trees on your fence line

if you didn't have help on this how long would it take

years not months

years and I'd be going

through a saw blade every day just south of here

others in the tornado and the insurance people came

and said the house, we've got it

we'll take care of it and then handed them the $500

check to clear their 3 acres of wooded land

$500 isn't going to pay for the gas to run the chain saw

they would live with it for years get back to useful land

the trees that are here it will be years

before they are back to anything we've had a tornado

about 15 miles from here 2 years ago

and you can still see where that went

trees are dead it will take years

the work we are doing isn't just for you

there are members of our church Mormon helping hands

helping in dozens of places over the last 6 weeks

we all come away feeling great and that's all you get

a great feeling what more do you want

you can't buy that in a store what would you want to tell people

who have helped it's overwhelming

being overwhelmed with the help this group has provided

it is unbelievable how many people have come down

taken their time where there could be playing somewhere

spending time with their family and some have brought their families

spending their time here instead of

doing things that are pleasurable to them I think most of them feel

this is an unexpectedly pleasurable activity

for them as well with service

and there is no way to repay but your work in the Lion's Club

and in the fire department there might be a little

evening of the ledger in our service to you

I believe death is not the end that in the long term

that our ledgers are balanced I am glad

to become a good friend I tell my family

"I talked to Mr. Strickland today" he has become my good friend

I have enjoyed getting to know you we never would have met

and the distance you all are driving well 90 minutes

well thank you I appreciate your sharing with us

I'll edit this and I'll give you a link to it

and we'll share with those who have come to help

ok appreciate you

thanks [music]

5 Forest Spirits from Around the World - Duration: 6:40.

Legendary Forest Spirits Around the World

Number Five

Dryads

In Greek mythology, they are a type of tree spirits.

Usually they are associated specifically with oak trees.

But as time goes on, they are said to be the tree spirits of any types of trees.

The dryads are usually described to be female and are quite shy.

Usually depicted with a beauty that is very ethereal.

Each dryads are born to a specific tree.

They would protect and watch over that particular tree for the rest of its life.

This is because the dryads are connected to the tree it is born to.

It is connected through life.

Meaning, if the tree dies, the dryads would also die and vice versa.

So if anyone harms the trees it inhabits, they WILL try to protect its home.

They might even punish the perpetrators to death.

There are apparently 2 types of dryads.

Ones that live inside the trees and the ones that live outside or near the trees.

Number Four

Kodama

The Kodama are pretty similar the dryads.

They live in the trees or around it.

They protect the trees and its surrounding.

And their life is connected to the trees it inhabits.

Whats different is that: they aren't necessarily female, their folklore came from japan and

rather than ethereal beauty, they might look a little bit weird.

The Kodama are currently mostly depicted as small cute humanoid creatures.

But they may also take the appearance of a ghostly apparition or the form of a light orb.

They rarely show themselves to humans as they are pretty shy.

But if you happen to hear an echo which took very long to return, they might be around.

These tree spirits can manifest itself outside of its main tree host and could even wander

very far from the trees they are living in.

They usually tend the groves around the area and help maintain the balance of the ecosystem.

Thus why the Kodama are seen as the God or protector of the forests that blesses the

land it is in.

Now because the Kodama are connected to the tree it inhabits,

it will protect it as much as it could.

If it couldn't protect it and the tree still ends up being cut down, it would put a curse

on the person, the whole area of the fallen tree, or even the community the person came from.

The trees that are believed to house these Kodama are marked with a Shimenawa.

A big sacred rope tied around the big trees.

So its obvious not to be cut down.

Leshy

This woodland spirit comes from the Slavic folklore.

It protects the whole forest it inhabits.

Its appearance is that of a giant horned creature with tails and hooves.

Their hair is foliage such as grass and vines.

They have pale skin, green eyes and carries a club around.

Saying all that, they could actually shapeshift into other woodland plants or creatures.

Another way to distinguish them is by checking their shadow.

They do NOT have any shadows.

So, even if you don't see a bearded horned creature carrying a club, beware of anything

in the forest that has no shadow.

Now this spirit could imitate any sounds it wants.

Animal sounds, human sounds; whatever it wants.

They usually use this ability to lure wanderers towards them.

Their intention for luring wanderers is to play with them.

They are not necessarily evil.

But it is known that the Leshy has no restraints.

They might just tickle you to death unknowingly.

Here are a few known ways to confuse or awe the Leshy from playing with you:

So, when you find yourself to be lost.

Be calm, sit under a tree and start wearing your clothes backwards

and your shoes on different feet.

And another quick way to stop it from disturbing you is by setting the forest on fire.

Seeing how they are the forest guardians, they'd prioritise saving the forest first

rather than playing with you.

While its on fire you should try to get out of the forest as fast as you can, or they

would definitely pursue you.

Nang Mai

In Thai Folklore, there exists tree spirits that looks like a female human.

At least that's what they like to show themselves as.

These spirits are called Nang Mai which means Lady of the Tree.

They are always depicted as beautiful women wearing earth coloured dresses such as green

and/or brown.

So what does the Nang Mai do?

They just haunt the immediate surrounding of the tree it inhabits.

Like appearing and disappearing near or on the tree and just stand or sit around.

The Nang Mai does not die when the tree it inhabits gets cut down, but it will follow

wherever the piece of wood it latches itself on to goes.

If the wood is made into furniture, it haunts the furniture, if its made into a house, well,

it haunts the house.

Luckily they are pretty harmless.

Until you are deemed evil or annoying in their point of view.

That is when the Nang Mai would make your life, in her immediate surrounding, hard.

Bunian

These forest spirits comes from the Malay folklore in South East Asia.

They are spirits that live in a different plane that can't be accessed by normal humans

or should I say a different dimension of the same earth.

They prefer living in the jungle or forest.

Making settlements or villages surrounded by nature.

The Bunian are said to look just like normal humans with an exception of being very attractive.

From older folklore, they are said to always be wearing one coloured clothing from top

to bottom.

But seeing how they have a civilisation, who knows how their fashion might have changed

by now.

They are said to have magical powers but only a few could travel between our world and theirs.

Humans can also travel to their world, but it needs certain rituals and conditions to

enable them to travel.

I guess its a bit like a sort of visa.

Apparently those that can travel to our world can also choose to be invisible or visible

to our human eyes.

There are stories of humans marrying these Bunian.

And they are usually given a choice of either to continue to live in this world or go with

them to theirs.

There are also some other stories that if a Bunian is attracted to you, that Bunian

would go into your dream and give you a wet dream.

Making you theirs and ensuring you either be single forever or finally acknowledging

their existence.

the void is somehow different this time

Pryor's I can pull you into this place the outsider marked me long ago I need

you free your precious power and turned your father into cold stone how

difficult for you was when I was young sweet Jessamine and I were closest those

sharing a secret Emperor called and had another daughter Cornyn chained to a

kitchen maid am I dreaming if not how is Delilah

doing

I

jazmyne and I played games in the tower but at night I go back to the servants

quarters the cockroaches and thin gruel

and prove that it was better to tell me if I was good next year I'd be old

enough to come to court to be a princess and one a pretty jessamine broke

something worth a fortune and the spymaster caught us she claims I did it

and he whipped me in the garden house until I bled my mother lost her kitchen

job and that night we were out on the street with no place to sleep

for the nastiest party gunrock ending up in debtors prison

Chesney died quick on an assassin's blade but my mother lingered police

after a fat guard broke her jaw they threw me out when she died I looked at

the lights of dunwall Tower and swore revenge washing bedsheets in a brothel I

painted on the side until anton sokolov took me at the student I was cracking

even before the outsider mock me and survived the worst the Empire

you can't a hurry

hard to know whether my dear old aunt telling the truth or not

when I saw what they done to anton sokolov i wanted to hurt everyone who

helped Delilah on the dupa sir Kona's pull off their coup Sokolov is the man

who made way alone to a weapon who turned back the plague and now he's

barely able to sleep but he didn't was powerful and women of our time shaked

too badly to hold a spoon

when he does talk he's going to give me a name the next step along the way to do

palooka a bell then Delilah

Oh

mother that wasn't a dream love it we're Italian for the glasses all this is her

doing and she'll die for it I'm a decision path weight if it was higher on

Julie

genders wanted me to help him with a rather complicated problem it would have

enabled him

Anton you've had three days to rest tell me how to kill Delilah they tortured him

his body is covered with bruises Delilah has the throne and my father is

missing this is an attempt sokoloff the greatest mind in the Empire know every

Megan is right I can make electricity move from one side of the room to the

other but Delilah is beyond my understanding

when I came to cercano s-- I meant to leave everything behind but when the

assassination started I couldn't ignore it

by the time Megan and I connected the murders to the Duke it was too late the

crown killer came for me it kept me alive from my knowledge that I saw

Jhin gosh often had a visitor Breanna Ashworth she's the curator of the Royal

Conservatory yes Ashworth is dangerous is obsessed with the occult Oh Delilah

apparently she's working on a device called the oraculum

there's more to her than either of you know if Ashworth is one of Delilah's

lieutenants I need to eliminate her who knows what this device is capable of or

what she's up to

meet me at the skiff when you want to set out for the Royal Conservatory

I have trouble remembering my mother's face sometimes but there might be some

resemblance a different memory while trying to learn more about what the Duke

of so Carlos was up to I began hearing a name I hadn't heard in almost two

decades the Lila copper spoon we painted together for a time but her

obsession with the occult and the cauldron family took her out of my

circles I saw some of her paintings beautiful

but somehow sinister you knew Delilah all this time traveling with you and you

never mentioned my past is none of your business

you don't own everything in person another life another life they can came

to Kanaka to reinvent herself maybe I did as well but the Duke of second oz

had other ideas

we'll take the skiff I don't want to bring the dreadful whale any closer than

we have to there is a small dock in Syria Gardens close to the conservatory

that's as far as I can take you ready to go yeah let's go

you

there will be a brand guard presence outside the Royal Conservatory inside be

prepared for anything Ashworth runs with an eclectic crowd

they'll be the real danger

someday I'd like to know more about how you met Ashworth I know you would trust

me Ashworth is important to Delilah which brings up something else you might

be able to exploit the idea be everyman and removing Ashworth from play

turns out the Vice overseer and Karnataka has been watching Ashworth

from a hidden outpost near the Royal Conservatory check it out first if you

want more options remember if she's still working with

Delilah Ashworth is a great threat thanks me

so she gets her what she wants

I believe in a job we don't want on that thing she's deaf on purpose to our face

yeah run coward

raise your lucky day madam it's the day you get to meet pirate Betty in person

time to be the brave you in the name of the harderberg

oh wait wasn't he away trip down on the dock and must've heard the stories about

Pirate Bay but all arrabal things I've done to the fools who refused to give us

some treatment or a bag of coins no I've never heard one word about your exploits

go on please take a look around we have the best wares for discerning guests

everything I like well obviously you are someone with refined taste welcome to my

shop say an acquaintance of mine is supposed to be holed up in an office

overlooking the Royal Conservatory check on them if you're headed that way I

checked myself but the streets are locked down I'd make it worth your time

I think about see anything you like

welcome back

farewell and do think of us again

but there's no other pleasant surprise to see you again

dummy in my friend always it delights to see you when you going on here trouble

over there welcome back please

take your time Oh

hi come on right here at our search to check the place just in case we're

everywhere I want your jet where do you think your

home you and me

they don't got a choice

Oh Oh miss something would happen around it sure weeks instead of getting your

foresight miss it was something bad maybe it's nothing

someone there what is asking ah I know they go wait for my go

we honor hash word curate of the Royal Conservatory for a while I believe -

word has some connection to the occult in Karnataka something had happened that

I don't understand the overseers are the forward swing to the abuses but equally

important are our sisters from the oculomotor to be direct I suspect

something is wrong within their 60 subtle changes to the types of

transformation they've been thinking small but troubling deviations from

tradition wonder whom or what with the same anything along those lines will get

me acute

Daedalus is down my my rivals within the enemy is it possible that asked where

that infiltrating the irregular or somebody down her vice overseer burn

think Ashworth is interfering with the ocular order if true is another reason

she has to be eliminated

got to be on the lookout

kind of work something's happening but it could be anything maybe

that's a lot of light connecting up no the technical officer came by and

said it was fine he looked at the wall of life and climbed up to check the room

all good why the wind kicked up so hard the wall of light was flickering and

sparking like crazy I've seen that but whale oil is expensive now and the tanks

run dry winds unpredictable

look at you leaving a trail of bloody boot prints across this dynasty Brianna

asked her would have been miserable as a member of high society forced to live

some bloated Baker her only moments of real freedom it intruded fancy walls

living away to couple with strangers it would have ended in happy marriage and a

late night plunge into a nice dinner but just before mother and father married

her off so many years ago she found the light was dead it was all highways and

graveyard not baths never looking back vice overseer Burrell is an ambitious

man he will lose in the man's mission protecting the good people of the Empire

against the likes of us you know he'd be happier beatdown was descended with

Brienne and she would send on a spike oh you're swell

you're going on you walk-in away I'm not

No she went missing a day before here someone's on an office missile in the

gutter

like oh no God let me answer all don't you fail to live forever because of this

place silver with shiny coin I asked them to double in five workers that he

did it the questions no complaints Kaka I needed whiners and he produced them

out of thin air didn't appreciate the city became attorney hard time Mel is it

the fountain yeah the water gets nasty sometimes it

flows from the fountain to the conservatory basement there's work here

in town so they're the greatest may be some animal called remarried I'd gusting

you think someone inside the conservatory would could point places

mostly shuddered but somebody's still inside it was a delivery from Kim -

clockwork for two days when I'd be happier if the gate wasn't so close to

that fountain

Today;s poultry tips are about, all precaution before chicks rearing. When chicks are arriving in your poultry farm,The best tips for your poultry house.

If you understand these poultry feeding & poultry rearing tips,it's sure you are going to get more profit than others.

First Day of chicken farming. I challenge you ,if you are don't follow our tips, you are not going to get success in your poultry farming projects.

The small chicks you rear for chicken market will be fail if not having proper management.

So never miss a single word to get successful poultry farming.

Note an example. As a woodcutter with sharp axe is successful & can perform better with productivity.

But a woodcutter work hard if he is not having shard axe. So try to sharp your poultry management tools to be a successful poultry farmer.

Never miss any tips to be to gain your knowledge ,Its better to learn more & sharpen your skill to avoid loses in Poultry farming.

Our all words are EXTRACT of many experts of poultry, who have devote their lives for poultry.

Now coming to main topic. The first day of a baby chicks is important, but the 10 days before coming chicks are also very important.

Poultry chicks are coming to far & you are planning on same day. NO NO NO Never.

You must start preparation before 10 days minimum.

As you market your old birds,Never make any delay in Hygiene care & immediately take the Litter out from your Poultry Farm

Clean the floor pf poultry farm & never miss other area.

If you are having traditional farm with no concrete than use lime to cover it,can add chlorine tablets to kill all virus & bacteria present in Floor.

Those ,who are having solid concrete floor, they must clean the floor after litter is out from poultry farm & again clean with proper disinfectants.

Never ever forget to disinfectant Curtain of poultry farm.Soak it in water having proper disinfectants & make it bacteria & virus free to reduce microbial load.

The best method of spray, we will give you in next video for better result.

Use Formalin,Hydrogen Peroxide & Chlorination to reduce microbial load. These are economical way to use for hygiene of poultry.

But it must be done before 10 days of chicks arrival,

How much space, we should give to baby chicks arriving in our poultry house

Space is simple formula. Divide the number of chicks arriving in you poultry house by 4= square feet space required.

example 2000 chicks are arriving in your poultry farm. 2000/4 = 500 square feet in first 5 days ,but for 2000 commercial broiler birds, you must have minimum 2000 square feet Complete space.

Now about Automatic feeder & drinkers. As per my experience automatic feeders & drinkers are good but for first few days manual feeding is best.

Remember the height of drinkers must not give discomfort to baby chicks & the box in which you received the chicks are best for feeding your commercial broiler chicks.

Now latest technology feeder and drinkers(Waterer) are available, you can take the benefit of that.

remember you need about 1 feeder &drinkers for 100 chicks.

The distance from one feeder 7 drinker must not exceed by 2 steps or 5-6 feet MAXIMUM.

Sequence must be like one drinker & one feeder . So that when bird feel hunger or thrust , it can have any time.

One more TIP, Have you cleaned your water tank- YES.But you forgot to clean water supply pipes.

Easiest way to destroy bacteria & virus from water pipe is clean by chlorine tablets or hydrogen peroxide.

Just Put chlorine tablets in your water tank as per given dose of company's product & let the chlorine water comes in pipes of your poultry house & let it stay for 1-2 days.

Remember this water must not be used for New chicks coming to your poultry farm.Reason is

Reason is chlorine water can lead the vaccination failure. So cleaning the water tank many times is important.

Before coming chicks cover all shed with curtains remember curtain which are clean & disinfectant from all infections.

Never miss thermometer to to manage or control temperature in your poultry house.

As chicks are arriving in your poultry farm,be ready for all required management.

As chicks arrived , never make any delay to ope boxes & leave in your farm.

Have you forgot the litter ? remember litter must be of best quality. Wood Powder if you are using must be dry. Or Rice cover/Rice hull must be very dry.

Ala ways use two layer of waste news paper.s on get effect by chicks excreta. Remove one & let another layer work.

Using News paper is to stop chicks fro eating Litter. So news papers must be covering each other 4-5 inches.it can consume some more but do it.

If it is rainy season, than BE CAREFUL , any drop of water must not effect your poultry farm.

The poultry shed you are making or poultry project you are trying to develop is to be taken care of its architecture.

Architecture of a poultry farm must be like when rainy season is there rain drop must not affect your poultry farm as well as birds.

Straight outer area of your poultry shed coming out 2-3 food is not good, The better one area coming out is down to ground. It stop rainy drops well

About bird's feeder & drinkers(waterer) its clear. Now important topic is initial feed. Our suggestion is try to give crumbs feed to your baby chicks its better tan mash( For first few days)

Never make any greed for economical mash feed for first few days. Crumbs are best option for initial stage. After that yous can use it.

Have you clean your feeders, drinkers 7 other poultry equipment well before chicks arrival in your poultry farm ?

Never forget to clean with disinfectants. The first 2-3 days make it it clear to your home, am going to be busy to take care of my poultry farm. Come early go late have a close look on first few days.

Heating system must be already available & Never ignore,if you think ,we don't need it in rainy season of chicks rearing.

Climate change in rainy season can harm the bird's performance.

If you follow these simple tips,The immunity will be great.I personally noticed.

The poultry farmers, who take care of their poultry chicks best in first initial days, get less mortality in their farm comparable to others.

These simple tips who follows, i found they have less mortality. These tips may be small things to be followed by you,But these tips are for prosperity & For BETTER profit of your poultry farm

Explaining a Quote - Duration: 4:14.

guys Stacy so today I have another video for you where I'm talking about a quote

and I'm explaining it a little bit more intense so and I'm going to give some

examples from my life and stuff from me so the cold says just fudge what they

think into what makes you happy so it basically means what it says

so like and s what people think do what makes you happy like for me for instance

right I like to work out sometimes um and so I like to always make it

different cuz I'll like I'll get bored I'll get bored of just like doing one

type of workout all the time so I like to like mix it up here and there into

different themes so sometimes sometimes when I go running like for instance all

I'll like start like running up the stairs and then just like people like

going down the escalator or whatever and people will just like be people and

they'll just be like rocky and you'd be like ah like you know like with their

eyes all been with around hoping like and uh that's just like I don't even

care I just keep running up the stairs cuz I know what I'm doing I know that

I'm doing my workout or like sometimes like another time for instance I'll um

go for a walk but not only for a walk like all like I'll have like my weights

with me like my hand weights so I'll be like walking and stuff like going for a

walk and I'll like be doing my weights at the same time or something and

I know that like people are gonna be looking and stuff cuz obviously I'm

going for a walk out in public and obviously it's not just like a normal

walk it's a a walk with ways like you know like big deal you know she's

lacking she's working with wading through like okay so like it is what it

is like I really don't really pay attention to it because I know that it's

my workout it's me trying to relax and have a good workout and I'm gonna do it

however way I also please so I think that those examples go well with that

THE VIDEO OF MY LIFE UNTIL NOW | 27 YEARS IN 10 MINUTES - Duration: 10:34.

Hi, I'm Luccas Soares and I'm 27 years old. I'm here to share...

with you the Video of My Life Until Now.

I was born in Curitiba at the neighborhood of Boqueirao.

I'm the son of Milton and Cleusa. Is that matter to you? No. But I'm sharing cause it's cool.

They always supported me on my career since the beginning

so, they deserve to be here in this video cause what you are going to see will make you very very happy

Come with Dad.

Come, come...

Well, honey I'll let it go.

Let it go.

My career started at the Theater when I was 17 years old and then I started to study cinema and graduated as a director.

All that I wanted was to act. That's why I went to film school, I wanted to act, man...

I'm not an Youtuber, I never wanted to be an Youtuber and I don't wanna be an Youtuber.

I don't wanna be an Youtuber. Ahhh.... Ahhh...

"Oh man, I don't wanna be an Youtube, man..."

"Why, dude?"

Because an Youtuber it's an Youtuber, you know? I'm different.

I want you to be inspired by my story.

So, what I've done, summarizing all the story.

I've understood how the game plays, you know? Since the beginning.

That made me start to produce my own projects.

Own project...

Produce you own projects!

As if it was easy!

Soon I'll write a book about it.

When I arrived in Rio de Janeiro to

try my life as an actor, I've start to study cinema but it was not

because my dream always was to be a film director or something like that.

No... I wanted to act. I wanted to be invited to act and...

I thought that being at the University, you know? People would invite me... It did not happen...

So I had to learn how to produce my own stuff. It was the best thing I've done in my life.

The best decision ever. So, like this I've discovered that

it was possible to act on my own movies and create my own scrips...

tell my own stories, from that I've never stopped.

I went to USA for a summer course and from there I was invited to direct a Soup Popper at

The Phillipines, in Asia. It was amazing. My life has changed completely.

It was when the Project Independent Roads was born.

I had only a simple camera, nothing else. No mic...

A Brazilian rapper always say: we didn't even have a mic...

I did not too, I only had a small camera.

With it I produced more than 45 films.

In 2011, I traveled 27 countries only with a camera and

no mic, only one lens and one camera, making films and every country I've passes by

7 of this short films became the Project Independent Roads.

It was one of the Projects I've made that gained more

voice into the independent cinema niche.

I've traveled more than 10 countries doing speeches and exhibitions in festivals

Television Channels from a few countries bought these films in order to screen them

Until these days a Brazilian Channel screens my films.

It was a life changing project.

Link is here on description, if you want to know the Independent Roads.

All of them are available. In 2011, I also created the

project Untold Stories. The best pictures of the journey.

They link is here as well if you want to check it out. It's very nice!

In 2011 I've also made the project Taxi Trip. I got lost in cab rides around Asia

The cab drivers did not speak English and I had to go places

and also to communicate. I was with a hidden camera filming them

It was in 2011...

So, I made a Series with 8 different episodes that I've lived

In Taxis around Asia.

If you'd like to check it out, the link is here on description, all in my Youtube Channel.

My days are mainly about production. I was filming everything that I saw...

It did not matter much, I was just doing.

From these experiments the Project The Journey of a Storyteller came about.

I'm also writing a book about it...

Hopefully I can release it soon for you to have it. This project is also available

on my channel. You can check all the episodes there.

They illustrate pretty much what I've lived in 2011.

My life has changes in all aspects. As a person, as a professional.

This trip was a mind opening for me.

I can say I'm different for all that I've experienced. I know 43 countries.

Just because of these projects.

And also different projects I've done along the way.

My career into the music started in a very crazy way. I was in a screening in a movie

theater in France, screening Independent Roads. I got out and there was a bar right next to the theater

I was with my little sister and a friend. Suddenly a person approaches us trying to speak

Portuguese after listening to us. He could not speak at all...

This dude was Gwad, a very nice French Rapper. He invited me to go to his studio.

After chatting a little bit I said him that I really liked rapping but I cud never guess

he was going to invite me to feature in a single on his new album... it happened.

He said, dude, if you sing, let's do something together, I'm recording a new album.

It was in 2013. Sing something in Portuguese. It can be good, I have a song here and I don't know what to do...

So, like this the game started. I was not confident at all... I was nervous...

I even though I cud embarrassed myself.

They were pros for me on that time...

The only thing I putted on my mind was if I do this right and

if they like it, I'll invest on it and make it happen.

So, it happened. They liked what I did, it was crazy. The song is on the description too...

Years later, I came back to Curitiba, in 2013 and I started my own company

The International House of Cinema, a film company, a photography and a design studio.

The idea when I started was to create a film school

The idea of having a studio and starting all that was with an American friend of mine

who's also a teacher, the plan was to start it out together.

Even the name International House of Cinema we created together with my director

friend Chris Manni Smith. Cheers, man! The company will complete 4 years old

During this life time, IHC

produced different kind of projects to different clients and also its own productions.

A project that I really like is The Fancy Rooftop, if you like to check it out

the project, the link is here on the description. It's a very cool project.

It helped a lot the image of IHC to be known nationally. The Brazilian rapper Karol Conka

was part of it, the singer Jorge Vercillo and many others.

Another project that I really like to share is

the Rap Acústico created by IHC.

It was an incredible experience and it was also my first band.

With Jotta Valiente, Dj Fefo and Thiagão from the Elephant Studio.

We stayed together for 2 years and we did lots of shows

lots of concerts. I was an amazing experience.

If you like to check it out the Rap Acústico

the link is here on the description. In 2017 we started the Project of My Big Bang

An Online Talent Show that gives the winner the startup of

an artist career. A project that I'm really proud and it's just a baby

So, it's here on the description too. Feel free the check it out.

I'd like to thank you for your attention until now. I've completed on Earth

9855 days. 27 years old and this is The Video of My Life Until Now.

Espiritualidade em Gotas / Ep. 90 - O Casamento Acabou! - Duration: 4:41.

The Wedding is Over!

- Is it in the law of nature or only in human law

the indissolubility of marriage?

This is question 697 of "The Book of Spirits".

[ ♪ Soft Song ♪ ]

Spirituality in Drops

- It is a human law, very contrary to nature,

but only men can change their laws;

only those of nature are immutable.

This was the response of the benefactors on the

question of marital separation.

Many couples who are separated find the hostility

of society or their religiosity that prevents,

does not accept, any possibility of marital rupture.

It is true that many mates

are based on fragile bases, because they are motivated

only by physical attraction, by social interest,

by a beauty motivation of one or the other,

or both, without

hard support.

These unhappy unions soon become fragmented,

because they are far from the fundamental

motivations for a relationship to be able to

persist: love and sexual union -

representing the laws of nature.

But even among those who devote themselves

to a loving relationship and to a linking of

affective-sexual nature,

even among them, the challenge of overcoming the

obstacles they bring to a two-way

coexistence are innumerable, and here and there, one or

both , do not realize that they can take the marriage ship

to the docks of happiness, and the rupture arises,

on account of one or both, that they do not account

for the process of self-improvement of their own

conflicts, and decide to interrupt a relationship,

even with who had programmed before

reincarnating, postponing, later, the possibility

of this readjustment, of this reunion.

Effectively, those who make that choice

are also within the legitimacy of their own

conscience,

since only those in a relationship know

of their strengths and, as spirits say,

it is preferable to amputate a limb from which the whole

organism is lost in death; then,

in a relationship of conjugality,

sometimes relations, they become precarious in such a way that

a separation causes less calamity to the family

than the maintenance of it

with disrespect, sometimes attitudes

of rudeness, too much indifference,

or aggressiveness disproportionate presence

of children, if any, and in this

circumstance this couple is already separated.

Legalizing separation is an ethical,

moral attitude that will give the family new contours,

minimizing the consequences that will be

negative, but, by giving one or the other the

possibility to recover and even

elect another partner to

start another marital relationship,

with all the learning of the one who

did not manage to go to the end.

Thus, marriage is within

the law of nature, but its indissolubility

is only a human law

that will mark its abolition by modifying

the legislation of each country or by reformulating

the codes of religiosity when they

align with the Cosmic Laws

which govern our destinations.
