Hello and welcome from VW Arteon launch. Here's 6 things you have to know about the car:

Arteon has adaptive cruise control. As such, it's hardly a new system, but it comes with sth previously unavailable in this class of cars.

The car slows down not only to match the pace of the car ahead

But also reads the speed limit signs

It will stop by itself when others stop

Then all you have to do is gently press the accelerator

Arteon will accelerate to the speed of other cars

Taking into account speed limits

Usually, it works great, but some temporary speed limit signs threw it off balance once or twice I drove it

ACC has another new functionality

It "sees" the turns in the road and slows down when needed

It drives almost by itself, thanks to lane assist

For a few seconds because then it asks you to take over the steering

Another new thing is the Emergency Assist.

Many things can happen - the driver might fall asleep, might have a seizure or a heart attack

The systems notice when driving becomes erratic

First, the car starts making sounds to get the driver's attention

When that fails, Arteon will use lane assist, park assist, ACC and other systems to slow down and stop the car in the right lane whenever safe.

What about a situation when someone else is driving erratically?

Arteon won't run away but it will close the windows and the roof window, activate belt tensioners and hazard lights.

All thanks to the systems scanning the vicinity of the car.

Ok, I've said a lot about semi-autonomous systems, but what about people who'd like to actually drive the car by themselves?

There are a few engines to choose from, with power up to 280 HP.

I'm driving a 2.0 diesel engine, 240 HP.

And believe me: it's fun to drive.

As for the fuel consumption, it's very sensible. We drove on country roads, in the city, on the highway and total consumption was around 6 litres / 100 kms.

The car sticks to the road. Right now, the weather is perfect for driving, but I suppose it would be as safe in winter, thanks to the all-wheel drive.

You can make the car your own. And I'm not talking about the color or the seats

BTW, metallic yellow / gold is the only fun color, rest of them is quite conservative

In VW, as in other cars, you can choose drive mode.

There's Eco, Comfort, Sport, usually also Individual mode.

In Arteon, the Individual mode is much more elaborate than in other cars

Like Golf that I got to drive recently

There's 12 tiers of any setting in the Individual mode

I know, not everybody will be interested in this

But should you want to have a car react just the way you want it to, it's there.

I expect a lot of comments to the effect of "autonomous cars are the worst, they kill the joy of driving"

Let's look at it like this: not every trip taken by car is a fun drive

Driving to and from work is usually 30 to 60 minutes of heavy traffic, swearing at other drivers... Then what?

You enter the office mad. The meeting you have scheduled is not happening, because your boss is still stuck in traffic

The entire plan of the day goes bust.

You're angry the whole day and then you drive back home, and get angrier because of the afternoon traffic jam.

You get back home and you've had enough.

Life's stressful. Work can be stressful.

The next industry revolution isn't probably going to happen soon and we won't stop working

But if you could not drive to work but be driven

And use this time to call your mom, brother or a friend, why not?

Sure, there's hand's free system in most of the cars these days

But how many times did you chat with your friend only to shout "watch where you go, you idiot!"?

So, the power with this is being a more effective communicator

in being able to lead people, inspire people, now that maybe one on one, maybe to a small group

or maybe to large audience. But each of these strategies is still effect no matter what platform that is,

however, we need to take this, which is just this interaction on to large stage as well

One of the easiest ways for me to have the conversation with you right know is just like this.

I am talking to you as if your sitting right here in the room,

and if I was in a large audience

I would be do the same thing.

There is a couple of key strategies in which you can do that,

couple of the strategies is, one, is allowing them to have the opportunity to respond

to what you are talking about when you're on stage

and even here in front of a camera yes it is one directional as in I'm doing all the

speaking but I am giving you an opportunity to respond,

and I will engage you.

That is the best way to have a conversation.

Just have a conversation.

There's going to be one less video this week because I have been pretty much asleep for

5 days, I've picked up some sort of viral infection, I had a temperature of like 40

degrees it's been pretty bad.

It wasn't good.

I'm not complaining, we just haven't been able to make videos, I haven't even been able

to like have lights turned on or talk so there's a couple more Mexican videos to edit which

you'll see after this one.

Then we'll start with Tokyo, sorry about my voice, it's been a rough five days.

Sheena is a very good nurse.

to us and it has perked me up so much while I've been sick to see that number pop up.
