Youtube daily report w Jun 13 2017

Hello, my friends.

Welcome back to "What the ***K?" where we test out Korean beauty products to decide whether

they are worth your time and money.

Today we are going to be talking about this SkinFood Honey Lip Balm #3, the honey flavor

and I've got some tea to spill on this honey.

So, this is the honey pot lip balm.

There's actually 3 of these.

The berry one's #1, mandarin is #2, honey flavor is #3.

I paid $8.75 for this little tiny pot of lip balm.

This is now actually on sale at Amazon for $7.20.

As you know, Amazon prices can fluctuate a bit.

You can also get this on the SkinFood website for $10.00, so Amazon is the better way to

go.

I did get it directly from SkinFood on Amazon.

It also has 4 1/2 stars on Amazon with 120 reviews which is pretty stinkin' good.

So, I was like, "Yes!

I want this in my life!"

They did not have the ingredients listed from SkinFood on this product and I didn't do a

lot of digging before I got it and I probably should have.

This is not the first time I've had issues with SkinFood ingredients.

Last time I reviewed a SkinFood product, it was their strawberry mask and I found discrepancies

between the mask that was sold on Amazon vs. the mask that was sold on Ulta's website.

This is not sold at Ulta.

I was contacted by SkinFood and there is a correction in the description there that,

basically, they messed up the ingredients on Ulta's website and they said, "Please contact

us if you have any other issues.

So, I contacted them.

I have not heard anything back, but I will put something in the description.

And now you're wondering what I contacted them about.

We're gonna pretend this is tea.

So, looked at the ingredients for this on SkinFood's website and I'm looking....and

I'm looking...I'm like, "Okay, textures, mineral oil....Ooooh!

We've got Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride.

That's a good one.

Butylparaben...

Fragrance....

Yellow Lake #5, okay.

Where's the honey?

Where's the honey?

Where is the honey?

I'm gonna put their description of what this product is on the screen right now, and you'll

see here that they do claim that you do get benefits from honey in this product.

But there's no honey!

There's no honey listed here!

Some of their other products do have honey listed.

They have honey listed or honey extract listed.

There's nothing listed here.

Let's take a second to pause.

As I was editing this video, I was taking screenshots of things and I noticed something

on the SkinFood website that I wanted to mention.

You'll notice here that it says honey, and then it gives a description, and then after

that it says "additional ingredients."

Before I filmed this video I didn't see that it says "additional" ingredients.

Meaning, I guess, that honey is one of the ingredients and these are the rest of the

ingredients.

But that just seems fishy to me, because when you list ingredients you should list all the

ingredients because how do I know where honey falls on the list, so I decided to do a little

more digging and the only other place that I could find ingredients on a sales website

was on the Memebox website and as you can see here, there is no honey listed in the

ingredients.

So, I'm still gonna stand by, until I hear from SkinFood, that this product doesn't have

any honey in it.

I'm getting very frustrated with SkinFood and the way that they don't seem to care how

the ingredients are listed for their products.

As an ingredient junkie it just really is very irritating.

Alright, so now back to the review.

And honey might be something that you would really like to have in a lip balm.

I did a little bit of research on honey itself.

LiveStrong's website talks about it being a moisturizer for the skin, protecting against

damage, and promoting wound healing which would be great for the lips.

Different honey has different properties, though.

They say that the best honey is supposed to be Manuka honey, but there's a bunch of different

kinds that are supposed to be higher quality than other kinds, specifically for skin care.

On the other SkinFood honey products, they don't say specifically what kind of honey

they use, but honey could potentially be a very nice ingredient for this, but there ain't

no honey in it.

Just so ya know.

At least that's what they have listed.

I mean, I looked up all the scientific names trying to figure out, are they hiding it in

some kind of science that I just don't understand.

I can't find it.

So, let me just tell you a little about this product.

It is mineral oil based based on the ingredients.

And what you do is there's this little plastic thing here that holds this little drummette

thing.

And you take this little plastic piece off.

I don't know if you can see that, but it just barely holds that.

So you can take this really cute little wooden, I don't know what you call this thing.

Little wooden thing.

And you can pull the product here.

We're going to go ahead and apply with this, but again, you can apply with your fingers

if you want to.

It's just it's hard especially if you have false nails or long nails it's going to be

hard to get your finger in this pot, because it is quite small.

I think I got a little bit too much.

It smells fabulous.

It's got a great little flavor to it, a great scent to it.

It's not really overpowering in its scent.

But as you can see, it's just a mineral oil based shine.

A lot of lip glosses and lip balms have mineral oil in them.

It's not a fancy ingredient by any means.

It doesn't do anything magical as far as the look of it.

Actually, let me zoom you back out to tell you a little bit more.

Hold on a second.

So what you're going to be paying for with this product is the packaging.

I've used this 5 or 6 times.

I've used it before bed to see if there is a noticeable difference when I wake up in

the morning and there hasn't been for me.

This does have a very high rating on Amazon, so it's possible that someone else may have

some kind of magical things that this may work better for you, but this, to me, wasn't

any better than a $2 lip gloss except for the packaging.

The packaging is really cute.

I do wish that there was a way for this little thingy, this little wooden thing to stick

here without that little plastic piece.

'Cause I can see this being lost very easily.

I am glad that they included it though because it is a little bit difficult to get your finger

into the pot.

If it was a $3 product, I would say, "Yay!!"

But the fact that it was an $8 product, I think that is very overpriced for what you

get.

There's definitely nothing magical in this product unless SkinFood somehow has something

magical in it and just didn't happen to include it in the ingredient list.

You may know that I'm about to go on a vacation with my family to New York and Canada, so

there will not be a What the ***K after next week, but I've got a fun one for you next

week.

I ordered these off The Face Shop on Amazon.

I don't know if they're still available or not.

I don't think they are, but they are too fun not to do, and we're gonna get the whole family

involved next week's What the ***K.

It's gonna be epic.

And it's these Simpson's face masks.

I've got Homer for my husband.

I've got Lisa for my daughter, I've got Marge for me.

I've also got an extra Homer and an extra Lisa because I don't know what my son's gonna

want to do.

They didn't have a Bart one, so we will see what he wants to do.

Who he wants to be.

He can be anybody he wants.

But it should be a lot of fun next week for What the ***K, so make sure that you subscribe

so that you don't miss it.

Mad love, and I'll see you in a video soon.

Bye!

The Opel Ampera-e - unrivalled in its class - Duration: 1:41.

Unrivalled in its class:

With a range of 520 kilometres the Ampera-e is the electric car fit for everyday use.

This long-distance specialist

has 10 high-performance batteries to thank for its impressive range.

The batteries are built into the underbody to save space.

So much space there's easily enough room for five adults – and their luggage.

This powerhouse can go from 0 to 50 kilometres per hour in just 3.2 seconds.

With the 10.2-inch touchscreen,

you can keep track of all the vehicle's most important stats.

The display shows your favourite apps, too

– keeping you connected when you're on the move.

Arrive even safer:

All thanks to numerous innovative driver assistance systems

like the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

Should you need to recharge on the way,

your personal Opel OnStar assistant can help you find the nearest charging station.

The Opel Ampera-e is electrifying – drive after drive.

Charging options for all needs – the Opel Ampera-e - Duration: 1:20.

Most people don't drive more than 60 kilometres a day.

So normally, it's never difficult to fully recharge overnight –

using a standard household socket.

For longer trips, we'd recommend installing a charging station for your home.

Here's how you energize your Ampera-e:

Open the charging port flap,

plug the car into a mains socket or Charging Station and fill up on range.

Unlimited mobility: On long trips

you'll find public charging stations all over Europe.

No matter how much time you have,

the myOpel app makes the nearest charging or fast-charging station easy to find.

Another great advantage –

according to WLTP figures, a 50-kilowatt fast-charging station

can add 150 kilometres of range in just 30 minutes.

Payment is cashless

You can use your mobile phone or your personal eCharging card.

The Opel Ampera-e is electrifying – even when charging.

520km* range on one charge – the Opel Ampera-e - Duration: 1:51.

With a range of 520 kilometres,

the Ampera-e is a long-distance specialist with serious stamina.

The official range has been measured in a laboratory using the standardized test method for Europe,

based on the New European Driving Cycle - in short: NEDC.

This makes it possible to compare the ranges of different electric vehicles.

However, everyday conditions are better reflected in the driving cycle

of the Wordwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure – or WLTP –

which is based on everyday driving profiles.

Here too, is where the Ampera-e leads the way.

Based on the WLTP speed profile,

it has an estimated combined WLTP range of more than 380 km!*

Even in everyday driving conditions, the Ampera-e is a real distance runner.

Additional factors like road characteristics,

temperature and above all,

your personal driving style,

all impact the actual range.

You can monitor all driving efficiency values on the 10.2" touchscreen.

This helps you adjust your driving style to maximize range.

Of course, your car does its part to support you.

The engine becomes a dynamo whenever you brake,

generating energy that is fed back into the battery.

This is how we drove all the way from London to Paris!

The Opel Ampera-e. Every kilometre is electrifying!

Mine is like sun's out, buns out!

these terrible hair days right?

Yeah.

Okay well the truth is today we've

got great advice for those with curly hair

or you know wavy hair, yeah frizz!

We're going to help fight the frizz!

Yeah!

I am so looking forward to this.

Anything.

And okay we've also got if that seems

like a little hair brains, we've got

some ideas help you ensure peace of mind

when it comes to your online business so

we're gonna explain that too.

And you know I

love to cook.

Yes girl you love to cook.

And you know I love Ralph, right?

Oh yes we love Ralph.

Alright, so I'm always looking for some

tricks to help me in the kitchen right

Ralph?

Abracadabra I got some liquid magic up my

sleeves stay tuned ladies!

Oh boy he's a magician we could use a

little liquid magic maybe after the show?

Indeed he's great, all that and much more,

coming up on The Balancing Act! (music.)

(music.)

You know it's undeniably dreadful, frizzy

hair!

No one wants it we all try to avoid

it but let's face it ladies it happens

but no fret - I'm serious!

Our guest is

here to help us make bad hair days a

thing of the past, meet Dr. Boyce Clark of curly

hair specialists lubricity labs.

Good morning.

Thank you so much.

Thanks for being here!

I'm going to tell you right now I've

heard you're amazing, you've done amazing

things with your daughter's hair,

my daughter has struggled all her life

with her curly hair and she's just been

begging me I need to relax my hair.

Don't do it.

Why?

So as a single dad who just happens

to have a PhD in biogeochemistry I

struggled every morning with my daughter's hair.

We would wake up and it

would literally look like something from

the movie “Predator”.

It would be everywhere.

She calls herself Mufasa.

I get it.

Yeah.

I don't, I didn't know what to do

I would brush it it would get bigger.

The humidity.

I see the pictures Look at this!

The humidity would increase outside

her hair would grow and I would think as

a scientist what chemically is

happening why's her hair getting frizzy?

I

looked into some of the salon keratin straightening

treatments.

I wasn't comfortable putting those types of chemicals

on a 12 year old.

I taught myself about hair.

I looked into some textbooks on the anatomy physiology and

morphology of hair and I thought if I can

understand why the hair is frizzing I

can come up with a chemical solution.

And I understand you started doing

this in your kitchen.

I did I reached out to

pharmaceutical companies who had some

fairly cutting-edge compounds that have

just been released they sent them to me

for samples to work in in my lab we

mixed it up and about three nights a

week I would test it on my daughter's

hair.

There was screaming crying and

gnashing of teeth.

So I would pull a comb

through her hair before I would test it

and then we would apply it and then I

would wash it out and dry it and pull it

through again to see how.

She doesn't

look very happy here.

Not happy.

We went through about eight months of

this and had a Eureka moment.

You really started

noticing a difference.

It was almost, it

was instantaneous.

Did people notice?

I sent her to school that day and

I got two notes at home and a phone

call from a teacher saying what did you do

to her hair and where can we get it?

No!

Let's talk about Lubricity I'm going to do

this!

Lubricity and how it controls the frizz.

Sure so it's a treatment.

Step one, it's

called penetrate.

You apply this to dry

hair, you wait 15 minutes it's absorbed

into the hair.

And you use this?

Yep.

To do it?

Just like in a salon.

Exactly or like your own

treatment at home.

Okay you wait the 15

minutes, you don't wash it out, you put

step two on encapsulate, these two

chemically react on your hair and they

literally change the molecular structure

of your hair.

Hmmm.

You maintain the

results with the shampoo and the conditioner.

And what it does is it now

makes your hair not absorb moisture so

frizz is caused by humidity soaring into

your hair this stops that from happening.

And I can see the before and after

pictures here which are pretty dramatic

these are people who have used it.

Instantly.

Tell me about the term

lubricity.

Lubricity is a scientific term

that means to reduce friction or to

increases smoothness.

And how does it

differ from the keratin treatment

besides not damaging your hair?

It's done at room temperature, it's done

in two 15-minute steps, instead of

hours you don't have to heat it to 425

degrees the keratin straightening treatments

are done to create straight hair

this is not a straightening treatment this

is a smoothing treatment if you've

got naturally curly hair you will

still have naturally curly hair after this

but it will be frizz free if you want

to have straight hair you can round

brush, flat irons, then it will be straight

until your next wash.

What about hair types?

Like for example my producer who is in

the control room right now,

Marquita she's got really really curly

hair, and I've got like wavy, so hair types

and what about colored hair?

All of our

hair is chemically identical this system

works on the chemistry of hair and therefore

it works on all ethnicities with regard

to colored hair; whether you color your hair

your hair is natural we noticed two side

effects after I developed the treatment.

The first is incredible shine, we're

seeing that as you do the treatment

after the color your color will last

about 40% longer and the color is much

richer and much more dramatic.

So please tell me you've moved out of the

kitchen.

Yes we're in a professional laboratory

space now.

And you're busy! we are very

busy.

God bless, thank you so much.

Thank you.

Appreciate your time.

And if you'd like

more information on how to say goodbye

to frizz head to lubricity labs dot com.

lubricity labs dot com or our website

the balancing act dot com.

(music.)

And I am so about controlling the frizz

and adding shine especially in that

summer heat so I want to flow smoothly

indeed, and we're going to keep this flow

going.

Up next how to protect your online

business.

Stay with us.

(Music)

(Music) E-commerce is a

trillion-dollar industry and if you are one of the 1.7

million ecommerce site owners listen up.

For the first time there's a way you can

protect your online retail sales, after

all you've worked so hard to build

your online business.

Are you prepared for

loss of income if a platform like Amazon

or to suspend you for something like a

customer dispute?

In many cases at no

fault of your own, that would be devastating!

Here to talk about insurance

for your e-commerce business is Lori

Jurans from well insurance.

Good morning.

Good morning, thanks for being here.

Thank you.

You know we've talked a lot about

the internet, we've talked a lot about

e-commerce sites this is really new to

me and this was really personal to you

wasn't it?

It was, yes it was, we own our

own e-commerce business and we were

ecstatic to see it growing.

Fast.

Yes we've been working it for about five

years and about a year ago as we became

more reliant on the income that we

were bringing in with this business I

started to realize that if something

happened tomorrow, perhaps at no fault of

our own that we would maybe not be

able to pay the bills the next day and

that became very scary for me and

that's when I said this really should be

available.

So here's a question why would a platform shut down the

e-commerce business?

Well so it's an interesting

question.

Right?

And it happens every day

unfortunately yes and oftentimes at no

fault of the business owner.

Give me some examples.

The big giant is Amazon right?

A lot of e-commerce sellers depend

on Amazon to do their online sales

and Amazon really works to protect

the consumer and believes that if

something is suspicious they will shut

down your account while they investigate

it.

Because the customer is always right.

The customer is always right in the

Amazon world which is a beautiful thing

and as it should be however while

they're investigating this they may

suspend your sales.

It could be that your account

was hacked or that you have had too many

delayed shipments lately, it also could

be that you've been accused of counterfeit products.

Oh!

Yeah, things like that.

So then you're shut down for that

time being and then you're losing

money.

That's right.

And that's your business.

That's right so that's when you have an

aha moment.

Yes.

And you said I have to

do something.

Yes.

What did you do?

Yes so at that point I went to my

general liability insurance agency

company and so we really should work to

develop this policy because general liability

is necessary and provides

a lot of protection but there's not any

insurance companies currently providing

any type of loss of income insurance and

really not any insurance agencies that

know the ins and outs of the e-commerce

business.

So what did you create?

So we created a loss of income

suspension insurance policy.

How does it work?

So, it uh, you can really customize it to make it

work for you.

So your premium is based on your

annual gross income and it's also based

on if you choose to cover yourself for

30 days up to 180 days, you also can

cover yourself for $50,000 in annual

gross revenue up, to a million dollars in

annual gross revenue, and that's really

how it works you can purchase this

policy and were you to be suspended

based on the insurance policy you

purchased you can protect your loss of

income for the days that you are out of

income.

Who should be using this policy?

Everyone?

Anyone that has an e-commerce

business absolutely, I believe should be

considering the policy.

And let's talk

about the legitimacy of the policy

because you know you hear so many things

fraud all this stuff so yes you know

talk about that aspect.

Absolutely well this is backed by Lloyds

of London.

We'll that's huge.

It's huge.

It's the oldest insurance company in the

world and that's his backing this policy,

so no worry about the legitimacy of the

policy.

So have you heard from business

owners that say “oh my goodness thank you so

much for this idea because now I have

peace of mind”?

Yes, yes we have.

We've had people tell us that they can

sleep better at night because they

know that if something happens tomorrow

that they can continue to pay their

employees, they can keep the lights on, they can

keep food on the table.

It's personal.

It really is personal you know

business owners have worked very hard to

build their business and they deserve

the right to protect it.

Great idea, great

lightbulbs that went off.

Thank you.

Congratulations and good luck on the

business and hopefully it keeps on

growing.

Yep that's the plan.

Thank you so much

and for more information about suspension insurance for your

ecommerce site visit well dash insurance

com or go to our website the balancing act

dot com.

And that's some great information for some

great peace of mind.

You know whatwhat's's always

on my mind?

Food! time now for a quick bytes as Chef

Ralph, I bet he's got some culinary magic

up his sleeve.

(music.)

Presto change-o I'm about to enhance

your favorite recipes with a bold flavor

what I like to call liquid magic.

I'm chef Ralph Pagano and

abracadabra let's elevate your dish by simply

using a few drops of Maggi seasoning sauce.

Now check this out

Maggi seasoning sauce it's made from

fermented wheat and it gives it incredible Emami flavor, you

know it's quite similar to East Asian soy

sauce but it does not contain any soy.

If you just throw a couple of drops

from the bottle right into hot to cold

dishes it really enhances the flavor in

gravies, entrees, soups and sauces.

In fact I love,

I keep it as a secret in my kitchen

all the time.

I'm going to show you right

now how to make an incredible super easy

dip.

Who doesn't like avocado?

Raise your hand.

Keep your hands down.

Avocado is like the bacon of the fruit

world.

Right?

I'm going to add, I got one avocado

here but I add another avocado perfect.

I've got my avocados in the food processor, I'm going to add some

good old-fashioned mayonnaise 2/3 of

a cup, I've got crema which is sour

cream done Mexican style mix.

With a little bit of

mayonnaise gonna pop that into my food

processor.

Into this party goes my secret

Maggi seasoning which is really going to

build some robust flavors up in my dip,

some fresh garlic, lime juice for the

acid and some toasted cumin seed.

You know cumin is the number two

used spice behind black pepper FYI.

Turn it on blend

away it's that simple.

When it's nice and

mixed up just at the end you add the

fresh fragrant cilantro, give it a quick

one, two pulse.

1, 2 skidoo.

You know what'sPresto

good skidoo my favorite dance move.

Presto change-o it's all done and it

looks like it is right here.

Freat avocado with that Maggi seasoning

develops this incredible flavor that I

can't wait to get on.

How about this?

Some potatoes.

I got beautiful roasted red potatoes

with jalapeos, tomatoes and a little bit

of the Maggi season it gets incredible.

I'm got to tell you I love chicken

wings these right here tequila lime juice Maggi

seasoning bake them in the oven finish them on

the grill go to a ranch dressing on

the side this is my kind of party.

It's extremely

versatile and it's made from the natural

extract of pure vegetable oil which

means it's good for the vegans and I can

tell you what, if you add just a little

bit of this Maggi seasoning you get that

deep rich roasted flavor that you would,

when you're cooking kind of meats in the

oven, so this is a really good secret for

(Music)

(Music) I'm at a quest lab in Fort

Lauderdale Florida where you can get your

blood drawn and your lab work done.

Look familiar?

This is one of the draw room

where you sit in the chair like this one

and I'm sure you've seen these supplies

before especially the collection tube

and you wait for a phlebotomist who

finds the best thing you have and draws

your blood.

Meet Dr. Jay Wohlgemuth of

Quest Diagnostics who this morning will

be discussing the importance of lab work

and your health.

Doctor thanks so much

for having us here.

Thanks for coming to

Quest Diagnostics.

Let's talk about what

lab work reveals about ourselves and our

bodies.

Well lab work informs on what's

going on in your body if you're having

symptoms and something's going on with

you lab work often can lead to the

answer but just as important if you're

feeling fine there may be something

going on in you which you need to know

about so you can intervene and prevent

you know bad outcomes in the future.

So we're talking about possibly

arming ourselves to detect and

diagnose.

Right you may have symptoms you may

not, but in both cases diagnostic testing

can be really valuable.

So in a case like for me

once that I was feeling weak and my

hemoglobin was low hence anemic, that's a

perfect example right?

That's a great

example.

I had this very similar thing

but I had no symptoms I had a blood test

and had vitamin D deficiency.

Okay.

So I was really glad to know that so

I could treat myself and prevent a hip

fracture someday in the future.

So let's talk

about more underlying diseases some that

you may not be aware of a little bit

more serious until you do the blood work.

Well one of the misunderstandings about

lab testing is a lot of people say “well

I feel fine right so why should I be

tested?” However.

However cancer is

treatable and curable if detected at an

early stage and most diseases are like

that if you can detect it early you have

a much better chance of preventing bad

outcomes and preventing progression.

A great example be hepatitis C, 3

million Americans have it.

And they don't know it.

Almost nobody knows but if you don't do

something about it it can go on to liver

failure, cancer and there are curative

therapies available, so you may be feel

fine but you need to be tested you know to

see if that's going on to prevent you

know bad outcomes in the future.

So if it's so

important why aren't people going to get

the lab work which I think nowadays it's

suggested once a year or twice a year?

It depends on your situation at

least once a year there's a set of labs.

So why

are we doing it?

You know I think there

are two important factors at least one

of which is convenience I mean it has to

be convenient.

People don't want to go

out of their way, they don't want to

schedule an extra appointment, drive in

and park and so we're doing a lot to try

to make it more convenient like putting

labs into supermarkets, making it

possible for people to collect their own

sample at home and send it into the

laboratory.

Oh that's fantastic.

Yeah it's really helpful to make sure it's

really convenient for people so that

that hurdle is lower so that they'll

participate, but the other thing is some

people are scared of needles.

There are many people that, I don't like

them I'll do it I don't like, my kids

can't stand them.

So people avoid it, a lot of kids

are very scared as well so we have

alternative sample types we can use for

that but we also have our friend quiggles.

Quiggles?

Quiggles is cute and I'll let you,

I'll let you take a look at him but what

that does is it allows us to distract.

How does it work?

Turn it on here

with this button and the vibration next

to the vein makes essentially the needle

painless.

And it's vibrating.

And it's vibrating so it's a distraction

and it actually.

It tickles a little.

It removes the pain it really helps to help distract

and help children in particular you know

have their blood drawn.

So they may not see

the needle or maybe feel it as much.

They really don't feel it as much.

What a great idea, and for adults too?

It works for adults and they work

for you too.

Let's talk also about the mobile health

app my quest that's very helpful.

My quest is an application you can load

onto your mobile phone and what it

allows is for you to actually receive

your diagnostic data directly not having

to call your doctor but it also allows

you to schedule your appointments and

keep all of your records or maybe the

records of your kids or maybe someone

you're taking care of like your husband

or or your mother and that's

incredibly useful to have that information

with you at all times and when you walk

into the doctor you now have your

diagnostic results that you can share right

there on on your phone.

So there really is no

more excuses I mean it's much more

convenient it's easy it's less painful

if you will and affordable.

All of those

things and most importantly highly

important to prevent bad outcomes in

your life, prolong your life, and reduce

you know reduce disease burdens.

My hemoglobin is back to 14 now so

I'm good to go.

Hey I raised my vitamin D level and I'm

back in the normal range.

Excellent thank you so much for your time.

Thank you.

Now I know next time you're coming to our

studio.

I'm going to come back.

I know we're gonna be

talking about genetic testing and?

And personalized medicine.

Excellent again

doctor thank you so.

Thank you and if

you'd like more information on lab work

or Wuest Diagnostics you can go to their

website that's Wuest Diagnostics dot com

SkinFood | CUTEST Little Honey Pot Lip Balm REVIEW! | What the ***K?? | K-Beauty - Duration: 7:16.

Bye!

Who is Christina Jones? | Behind the Scenes | Cirque Stories | Cirque du Soleil - Duration: 13:16.

Commitment, passion, performance, countless hours of training:

These are just a few of the things our dreams are made of.

We are Cirque du Soleil artists, and we all have a story to tell.

Behind the scenes, behind the makeup and all the costumes,

this is unfiltered, raw, like you've never seen before.

Welcome to Cirque Stories.

Hi, I'm Christina Jones, and I'm your host for Cirque Stories.

I'm a synchronized swimmer

in Cirque du Soleil's production, O, at the Bellagio.

My synchronized swimming career before

I got to Cirque included competing in the 2008 Olympic Games

and winning World Championships with my duet partner, Bill May.

I really realized that I was done competing with synchronized swimming,

I was done with such structure,

and I wanted to express myself as an artist,

and Cirque du Soleil was a perfect avenue for this.

I got to explore a whole new side of my sport that I had never seen before.

Competitive synchronized swimming is extremely regimented and precise,

and after nearly 15 years of it,

I needed to let my hair down.

While some of that same precision is important at O,

there's way more room for creativity, exploration and artistic growth.

A lot of my synchro idols had joined Cirque after their competitive careers,

and I always knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps.

In 2007, my Olympic team had a training camp in Vegas,

and I finally got a chance to see O.

That confirmed it;

I knew that I wanted to perform on that stage one day.

At first, I had a hard time adjusting

to the nocturnal schedule of a circus performer,

but then I realized we have virtually our entire day free.

I decided to put myself through school and attend classes during the day,

while doing ten shows a week at night.

My story has been told time and time again.

It's always sugar-coated; it just portrays this fake reality

that everything is roses and sunshine all the time and,

while the Olympics were fantastic, they were a huge highlight of my life,

I feel that the true story hasn't really been told yet—

the story behind the scenes.

I want these stories to be real, unfiltered and raw.

As I started to look around backstage and talk to my friends with Cirque,

I started to realize how incredible everyone's stories really are.

I realized that this is what I need to be doing.

I need to be sharing these stories with the world.

We are Cirque performers, and every night we perform for you.

We make you laugh, we make you cry, we entertain you.

But behind the makeup and the costumes

and all the masks and everything you see,

each of us has an individual story to tell.

We wanted to invite you behind the scenes, behind the curtain,

to see what really goes on backstage,

what really goes on in life before we show up at work to entertain you.

Last year, my life threw a huge surprise at me.

I thought I was done with competitive synchronized swimming,

but it turns out I wasn't.

A new event, called the mixed duet,

was added to the Fina World Championships,

and a mixed duet is when a man and a woman swim together.

Announcer: Huge moment for the Americans in particular,

Bill May, and Christina Jones.

Up until last year, men were banned

from elite competitions of synchronized swimming.

And it turns out that I got paired with

one of my very best friends, Bill May.

And we had a pretty incredible experience together,

and I decided to bring him here to help tell that story a little bit,

and I think that through talking with him,

you'll be able to see a little bit of who I am,

and how Bill and I work together.

Not only have I known Bill since I was 10,

but now we get to perform together for Cirque.

- Take one. - Woohoo!

- Here we go.

- Everybody sees the fame and glory, and just, like,

the final moment of a lot of hard work when you watch sporting events,

when you watch the Olympics, World Championships, whatever it is.

But they don't really see what goes on behind the scenes.

And I just really wanted us to have a chance to share with people

what it's like to prepare for such a huge event.

- That whole journey from start to finish…

You know, you have so many ups and downs that people don't see,

and I think it is nice for people to see the hard work that goes into it,

and just how difficult it is to really go after, you know…

You don't get breaks, you don't have time for your friends,

you don't have time for your family,

you don't have time to do your laundry.

- Yeah, I think the sacrifice,

the sacrifice is something that people just don't understand.

Like, you moved from New York to California just to train.

You left your family when you were 16 to do that, and

I home-schooled the last couple years of high school just because I was

leaving home at 4:30 in the morning,

driving across the bay area to do weights

and train and workout at Stanford University.

Then I would go to high school, go do a full day of high school,

and then I would train, 3 to 9:30 p.m., and

barely be able to get my homework done,

and then wake up at 4:30 again and do it all over.

And my parents just realized, it's crazy, and

you either have a chance to train for your Olympic dream,

or you can have a normal teenage life, and I chose to go for it.

Some people say, "Oh my gosh, synchronized swimming, that's amazing!"

But like, that's really one of my callings, I think.

Like, I think people need to know the effort that we put in

and how difficult what we do really is,

because when you compare our training to other sports, it's insane.

Well you know I think, in that aspect,

I think if there's somehow that we can use that as a challenge

—you know, people don't know the sport or they don't understand the sport—

to somehow, kind of,

you know, make them realize or

express to them or invite them into our world,

I think that could be something that we could really use

to showcase synchronized swimming as more of an athletic sport

and just get a little bit more respect

- Yeah. - from people, because

I think people do say, you know, like it's floating in the water,

it's not this, and I think that just comes from, one,

not getting enough media

- Yeah. - for the sport,

and two, just people, they've never tried it.

You know, and we would train, when we were training,

we could train up to 10 hours a day, and not even blink.

- 10 hours in the water, without touching the side of the pool,

Not touching the side, you're not touching the bottom,

you're using every piece of energy in your body to hold yourself up.

People really don't understand the difficulty that the sport entails.

- And I even get surprised,

like I retired from synchronized swimming in 2008,

retired again in 2010,

and as we know,

- Retired again in 2015 - again last year,

and I know how hard it is, I know how much goes into this sport,

and even I couldn't believe how much it hurt

physically last year. Like it hurts so bad.

- Well I think again, you know, you're using your entire body

to hold yourself up.

You know, so there's not one part of your body that you can ever rest,

- Yeah. - you know, like, you're always engaged.

- Yeah. - So people don't understand that.

You know, just have anyone go try to tread water in a pool.

- And don't breathe; you're oxygen deprived, too.

- Exactly. Now take the breath away.

And people, they,

they can't, even ask them to do their own sport and just not breathe.

- Yeah.

- You know, and they're gonna get a little glimpse of what it is

to be a synchronized swimmer.

And now take away their ability to stand on something.

- Yeah.

- And you're supposed to not show people that this is hurting.

- Well maybe that little cut I gave you at Worlds

helped people know how.

- Well, when you jabbed my eye out.

- He dove in first, last year, and then I dove in after him,

and I like, sliced his eye,

my hand went like that, and he was bleeding.

And that's the other thing about synchronized swimming is that

when you're coming at me full speed,

you know it's like a car coming at you,

- Thanks - but it's behind a blur.

It's like a tank just running down, like, an army.

- For both of us, I think it's safe to say that

the moment that we won in Kazan was a pretty amazing moment.

- Oh, yeah.

- And we don't really ever talk about it, the two of us,

because we both just kind of know.

- Well, I mean, I think even now, goose bumps,

- Yeah. - because it was the first time

that something like that happened, so it was like this whole,

like, mound of energy just came together,

because we both had so much support,

and you know, it took an army for this to happen.

Because we were working full time, training full time,

you know, and going against the odds of people that have been swimming,

you know, constantly for the past 10 years,

where we had not swum for 10 years.

You know, so to be part of such a historical event,

as well as payoff of all of the hard work that we have done

and that other people have done with us, you know,

that whole accumulation of support

just kind of was a top-off by winning that gold medal.

You know, we were swimming from our heart,

and that's all that we could ask for.

You know, and it paid off,

- Yeah.

- so we walked away as a first world champions,

you know, in the mixed duet event.

- Yeah.

I remember asking you, like,

"Did we… Did we just win? Is that?"

You're like, "Yeah." Like, I couldn't really even believe it,

and I think a really special moment

was looking over and seeing our coach, Chris Carver,

and our other teammate, Kristina Lum Underwood.

It was like, it looked they had been just, like,

crying forever, like, they had tears down their face.

- You know, Chris has coached and coached and coached,

but this is something that she created.

- We both desperately want everything to be so incredibly perfect.

Like, we both think that we're 100% right,

- All of the time - and like,

it just took you a while to learn, like,

I'm always right, you know.

- It took you a while to learn that I'm stubborn.

- We did have those moments where we would kind of, you know,

clash, because

we both wanted the same thing,

but it wasn't always just sunshine and roses and laughter.

I mean, it was, there were some really, really challenging days,

really hard days.

- Yeah. But I think, you know, that's what happens

when two people love each other so much is that,

you know, the high points are even higher and the low points are lower,

- Yeah, for sure

- and it's because you do care so much about each other,

and we cared so much about our goal that, you know, of course,

that fighting was gonna happen, and it was only going to make us stronger.

- Yeah. - And I think,

you know, in fighting with each other, it brought that fight

that we were to show the world as a force as one.

- All right let's do it.

If you had no worries,

all the money in the world, no bills to pay,

no health concerns, no responsibilities,

no problems,

what would you do?

- I think I'm drawn to people that are the underdogs.

You now, because that's something in my life that I've had to deal with.

So I think something that I could give to a child

and make them realize that no matter how hard or difficult they have it,

you know, there's always a smile,

and there's always something that's gonna be better for them.

- I think that I would travel.

I love travelling. I just got back from Cuba.

It was an amazing experience.

I backpacked throughout Southeast Asia after the Olympics.

I love seeing people all over the world.

I would try to just share people's stories for who they are,

not for who society thinks that they should be,

or what people think of who they are,

or what they stand for, or what they believe in, or what they look like.

I would just want to share stories

of people all around the world for who they are.

- Awesome.

Boat trip to Stockholm Archipelago VLOG - Duration: 9:29.

Hey! Hey!

We are in old Stockholm.

Yes, that's true. Whereabouts Alma?

We are in Old Town (Gamla Stan).

Exactly, and I've just picked up Alma and Harry from preschool.

I want to talk as well.

Of course, do you know what we are going to do now?

We are going on a boat.

That's right, we are going on a boat to an island in the archipelago. And daddy Axel will meet us there.

Join us!

We are running to the boat.

The boat is over there Alma.

It's called Waxholms boat.

Alma and Harry, do you know what building this is?

The Palace, where the wizard live.

No there is a guard living in there.

No, it's a wizard.

We made it in time!

Put our bags on the shelf.

Yes, I will.

Can we have a Swedish fika? I would like to have a cinnamon bun and I think that Harry wants an ice cream.

Yes absolutely, we will have fika. I am really warm though. It's warm outside.

I would like to have an ice cream.

I want us to go out when the boat leaves the quay. After that we will go to the café. Ok?

We are leaving the city now.

The boat is pretty fast.

Yes. Let's have a look at Stockholm. There is the Palace where we walked a few minutes ago.

We walked down that hill.

Look, that boat looks happy.

Mommy, I would like that one!

Would you like the same Alma?

No, I would like a cinnamon bun.

Which one looks best?

That one.

Go ahead and take that one then.

Thank you.

A screw!

It tastes yummy!

How's your cinnamon bun Alma?

Good.

Thank you!

Hey!

My happy children.

Hey!

Nice to see you Uma!

How was the boat trip?

Fine.

That's great. Hey!

What would you like to do now?

Go swimming!

Yeah!

Ok, let's go.

We are on our way to a sweet water lake on this island.

Our children seems to think that the water is warm but I doubt it.

During the summer this lake can get quite warm. But we haven't been this year. It's probably a bit chilly now.

Yes, we'll see.

No running on the jetty! Alma and Harry can't swim, so be careful.

Alma has told me that she can swim.

She can't swim. She can dip her head under water.

Don't run on the jetty Harry.

We have no swimming wear for the kids with us.

No, I haven't got swimming wear for myself either. We got the lake idea to on the go.

Maybe it's not as cold as we thought.

Harry, we are here!

I found this one. I will wear it when I dive into the water.

It's cold!

It's cold daddy!

Really?

I think it's 16 degrees Celsius in the water. Would you like to go in?

Yes.

Go! Run!

Run? No running on the jetty.

Daddy run!

What's the temperature?

17,5 degrees Celsius, or probably a bit colder. Around 16-17.

I am the only one that's got swimming wear with me. But I don't feel like swimming.

I have been at work today, I have been at work all week. So I am doing this because it's weekend.

Come on, it's nice in the water.

No, it not nice.

It is nice.

No, I don't think it's nice.

Mommy do it again! Again! Again! Again! Again! Again! Again! Again!

That was nice and refreshing.

It was nice and refreshing! And a bit cold. But nice.

It was cold.

Our first dip in the lake this year.

It's lovely to be able to go on the boat for 45 minutes from Stockholm city. Leave preschool and work,

and arrive at this island. We have a small house on this island, that Axel is renovating.

And that's why you've been here all day.

Exactly.

Uma is our neighbor, and Alma's friend.

Yes. We are going home now to have some dinner and relax in our semifinished house.

Thumbs up? Thumbs down? What do you think of our clip?

Calling Bullshit 7.6: Science Is Not Bullshit - Duration: 4:52.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

LECTURER: So is most of science bullshit?

I think not, and I think there are

a bunch of reasons why we can be pretty confident that science

is nevertheless working pretty well.

One of them is simply that most of the hypotheses

that people test, it's an argument against Ioannidis.

Most of the hypotheses that people test

are not super unlikely.

I've got a limited amount of money.

I'm not going to go chasing after wild geese in my lab

with my limited funds.

I'm going to pick something that I

think is relatively likely to give me a publishable result.

And so imagine, if you test 400 patients for a common disease.

Let's take herpes simplex one, 54% of Americans

have herpes simplex one, cold sores.

If you test for that, then what you're going to find

is-- oh I'm missing a little, we should have

some false positives over here.

There they are, we should have a couple of false positives

as well.

So I'm going to get a whole bunch of true positives.

And I'm going to pick up a couple of false positives.

And the same thing happens if I test 400 likely hypotheses.

So if these hypotheses are 50/50 likely to be true,

then same thing, I'm going to pick up

a whole bunch of true things.

And if I've got a 5% confidence level,

then I'll have some that aren't true as well.

But fine, most of them are still true.

So that's one bit of reassurance.

Another thing is that science and replication

studies are cumulative.

When I write a paper, no one goes and sets out

to replicate the paper exactly.

You can't get funding to do that.

But if my papers interesting, people try to build on it.

So when someone publishes a paper and says,

hey, there's this thing, CRISPR that

allows us to insert DNA into sort of targeted places

and basically rewrite the genome.

Even if people don't sit down and try

to replicate the initial experiments,

you've got research groups, and biotech companies,

and stuff around the world trying to get this thing

to work in their own systems.

And so if it really doesn't work,

I mean it's such a useful thing and so far really doesn't work.

People are going to find out quite quickly because everyone

is trying to get it to work and they're

going to say, damnit, it doesn't work.

And so even though no one's really setting out

to directly replicate most findings,

people do build on those findings.

And if they're wrong then that comes out

in the process of trying to build on these things.

So that's another of cause for comfort.

There's multiple ways to deviate from an null hypothesis

and still get an interesting result.

I gave you this kind of hypothesis testing framework

where I either accept or reject a null hypothesis.

But I might measure the effect direction.

Maybe I say OK, this antidepressant

made depression better, made it worse, or didn't change it.

And if I do that--

I mean suppose there's really no effect,

and I can publish any of the results that are statistically

significant, then of the statistically significant

results half are going to make it better,

and half are going to make it worse.

And so what I'll have is a collection

of papers that get published that are kind of split.

And from that we can see the signature of this,

they're really actually being no effect.

So this is this can be helpful.

Contrarian results become interesting.

Once everybody believes in some particular psychological

phenomenon or whatever, if I come up

with this psychological phenomenon

no one's ever thought about it, and I test it,

and it doesn't work, nobody cares.

But once everybody believes that it

works, if I do a carefully controlled experiment that

shows that it doesn't work, that is now big news.

It's not boring anymore.

It's very interesting.

People love conflicts and arguments

and that kind of thing.

So people care a lot.

And you can publish that stuff.

It's still tricky, but you can publish it.

It gets attention.

It gets exciting.

And so science-- if people start to build up

a series of false positives that are indicating

that one sort of result is true even though it's not,

now it becomes publishable to say, oh

and actually that doesn't work.

And so that's kind of self-correcting.

And then finally, look, to heck with all of this theory,

empirically science works.

Science just bloody works.

And that's one of the most important things.

I mean as we said at the start, science gives us

these lifesaving vaccines.

Science lets us fly across the country at 500 miles per hour.

And you guys are lucky enough to live in an era

where you can go online.

You can order a Bluetooth salt shaker

or a water bottle that will remind you that you're thirsty.

And what could possibly be better than that.

Thank you.

D-Day - II: The Secret War - Extra History - Duration: 11:04.

The south of England had become a vast military camp,

jam-packed with hundreds of thousands of soldiers,

all planning on a trip to the Normandy beaches in the early summer.

The job of the British Security Service, MI5,

was to make sure that, on D-Day, the Germans were looking the other way.

If they failed, tens of thousands of men would die.

In August 1942, desperate to score a success

in the face of an unending string of military setbacks and defeats,

the Allies carried out a daring raid on the French port of Dieppe.

But the Germans were ready for them, fortified and prepared for the attack.

It was an unmitigated disaster,

leaving almost 4,000 Canadians dead on the beaches.

This catastrophe convinced everybody

that when the real invasion of France came,

the Germans must not be prepared for it, or D-Day would mean destruction.

This was, of course, going to be a little tricky.

By 90 days after D-Day, the US army alone

planned to have 1.2 million men with all of their equipment in France.

You can't just hide that under a bit of camouflage netting.

And so was born Operation Fortitude,

the most ambitious deception plan in military history.

The operation wouldn't pretend that there was to be no invasion,

that would be impossible. Instead, their goal would be

to fool the Germans about how many were coming, when they would land,

and where they would land.

Army groups were positioned around Britain to confuse the Germans.

The British 4th army was stationed in Scotland,

supposedly preparing to attack Norway.

General George Patton became the proud commander

of the 1st US Army Group

stationed on the English coast opposite the Pas de Calais,

the closest crossing to France.

The British 4th and the US 1st were somewhat unusual armies

in that there were no actual people in them.

They were completely fake, made up, non-existent.

The allies had no real soldiers to spare,

they were all needed in France for the ACTUAL invasion.

So to get the Germans to fall for this massive bluff,

the film industry was called in.

They created a brilliant illusion, an entire dummy army,

wooden aircraft, inflatable tanks, 250 fake landing craft.

Two fake corps headquarters were invented,

pouring out a constant stream of radio drivel.

At one point, King George VI even made an official inspection visit,

solemnly inspecting row after row of blow up tanks and real troops

who had bussed in for the day,

all while the daily news reel broadcast this inspection to the world.

George even managed to look thoroughly impressed.

And, because you might as well go big or go home,

this inflatable 1st US Army was presented not just as a threat, but as

the threat, the primary invasion force to be launched at the Pas de Calais.

The Germans already considered this

the most likely destination for the Allied attack;

now the Allies just had to make sure the Germans CONTINUED to believe that.

And so was born MI5's Twenty Committee,

so called for the XX Roman Numerals… Double Cross.

Double Cross fed the Germans a constant stream of highly credible intel,

a combination of utter rubbish and brilliant information

delivered just too late to be useful.

Back in 1939, the British had turned a German agent into a double agent.

He was pretty useless, but he had told MI5 everything they needed to know

about how the German secret service communicated with their agents.

The Twenty Committee used this information to create

an entire network of double agents.

By D-Day, Germany's network of spies in Britain

was owned by the Twenty Committee.

One agent was a Catalan, code named GARBO.

Garbo created a completely fictitious network of 27 agents

who bombarded the German embassy in Madrid with messages,

presenting an utterly convincing, and utterly false, picture.

The REAL attack, they said, would come in the Pas de Calais;

any other perceived invasions such as, I don't know, Normandy, whatever,

those were feints. If you hear any guns or shouting,

just relax, it's just the neighbours again. Go back to bed.

Garbo was good at his job.

So good, in fact, that the Germans awarded him with the Iron Cross

for his invaluable services.

But the danger was that even if they fooled the Germans before the invasion,

once the Allies landed, the deception would be over.

All German military strength in France would be concentrated on Normandy;

and the Allies would then no doubt be driven back into the sea.

So a series of new operations were concocted to convince the Germans

that other invasions would follow the first all along the coast of France.

Secrecy was critical.

To help the invading forces,

a complete photographic map of all of the beaches was needed.

The RAF and USAAF ran hundreds of photographic missions,

but they needed more.

So the public were asked to send in all of their holiday beach photos.

Then the toy maker Chad Valley was commissioned to take this intel

and make a vast map of the operational area

in jigsaw puzzle form for easy mobility.

The jigsaw map was delivered by two men in two pieces,

neither of them knew which was the real one,

and, once the delivery was complete,

neither was allowed to leave headquarters until D-Day was over.

The British armed forces were obsessive about security.

They arranged for 30 members of the women's Auxiliary Air Force

to dress in civilian clothes

and visit pubs close to where the British commandos were staying.

Their job: to flirt with the men and try to get them to spill

information about their mission.

To everybody's amazement and delight, the commandos kept quiet.

MI5 still worried that the news was out, though,

and that the Germans would be ready and waiting.

Back in 1942,

the crossword in the Daily Telegraph newspaper had included a clue

answered by the word "Dieppe",

just one day before the Dieppe raid had taken place.

Worrisome. And now, on May 2nd,

in the same crossword section came the clue "One of the U.S.",

and the answer was Utah,

the code name for one of the beaches the Americans were to land on.

Then on the 22nd of May, came the answer "Omaha",

another beach, and then later "Mulberry", "Overlord" and "Neptune".

All code words for various D-Day operations.

Finally, MI5 descended in a fury upon Leonard Dawe,

the school master who wrote these crosswords.

Turns out that it was all just an extraordinary series of coincidences.

But the big question remained: had all of this deception and secrecy worked?

And how would the Allies know if it had?

They needed to be able to read German communications to be sure.

The Germans used an extraordinarily complex encoding system: Enigma.

The codes were changed daily,

and there were 159 million million million possible permutations.

German messages should have been impossible to read.

But the British thought they could crack the code.

They assembled a team of brilliant mathematicians like Alan Turing

at Bletchley Park to do it.

Then the allies had a lucky break.

In May 1941, a British ship forced a German U-boat to the surface.

The Germans abandoned their sinking craft, but in the final moment,

the British sailors managed to board

and capture the most unimaginable treasure:

a completely intact code machine and codebooks.

Soon, and for much of the rest of the war,

the British were routinely reading German messages.

One estimate has suggested that the intelligence gained from this find

may have shortened the war by more than 2 years.

It was through that intelligence the Allies learned

that the Twenty Committee had been stunningly successful.

When the balloon finally went up, every key German commander

greeted the news of operations in Normandy as an invasion,

but not the invasion. Critical German focus, men and material

remained on the Pas de Calais even after D-Day,

confusing, slowing and weakening the German response.

It was little short of a miracle.

And so D-Day began for the British and Canadian forces.

The British beaches were called Gold and Sword,

and the Canadian beach, Juno.

Churchill had insisted on proper names rather than silly code names,

saying that no mother wanted to hear that her son had given his life

at the "Bunnyhug" landings.

The British parachute drop, despite massive confusion,

achieved most objectives in the face of incredible odds.

700 men and a complete glider train of artillery

were supposed to be sent to capture a critical German battery.

But when all of the equipment and most of the men were lost in the landing,

the 150 remaining soldiers,

armed only with rifles and Sten guns, took the battery none the less.

It's 7:25am at Sword beach. Mine clearing tanks thrash the sand,

sappers run beside them to disable mines and obstacles,

frequently falling to enemy fire along the way.

Then come tanks and flamethrowers

throwing themselves at the German defences on the dunes.

And only then come the landing craft to release their cargos of men.

In the chaos, the schedule collapses in only half an hour.

The beach has become a tangle of men, machinery, twisted wreckage,

a chaos of dead, dying and living.

The air is filled with the roar of gunfire.

Every moment is a drama of comedies, tragedies and moments of heroism.

But despite the cost, the landing at Sword was remarkably successful.

By 9:00pm, many units were off the beaches and moving inland.

At Juno, Canadian losses were heavier,

but they soon broke through the coastal defences, as did the British at Gold.

The landing plan had worked amazingly well, considering.

Almost everywhere, the German coast lines had been rolled up.

And the allies had complete control of the air.

The Luftwaffe was nowhere to be seen.

Now was the time to strike hard and fast into the interior,

to exploit the Germans' shock and seize the vital objectives,

including the major town of Caen. There was a period of calm

as men brewed up to recover from the initial assault,

and then they moved inland to link up with the airborne units.

Unfortunately, the beach heads behind them were a massive traffic jam.

The roads were chaos, and their armour support

was still fighting their way through that traffic to reach them.

And the Germans continued to fight hard; key strongpoints resisted

and slowed the British and Canadian infantry's advance.

At 6:00pm, a unit of the King's Shropshire Light Infantry

came under heavy fire 3 miles short of Caen and dug in for the night.

With little armoured support,

pressing the attack and capturing the town was not an option.

That night, men lay across a 60 mile stretch with their weapons,

peering into a darkness lit by flares, tracer and shells.

D-Day had been a remarkable success;

but as elite German divisions approached,

the fight for Normandy was about to begin,

and it would be harder than any could imagine.

Child of the King - Just a Minute! - June 13, 2017 - Duration: 1:01.

Jesus hung out with sinners.

He ate in their homes and welcomed them as followers.

Now this confounded the religious leaders.

They couldn't figure out why he spent time with the dregs of society.

But they didn't understand his mission.

As Paul learned and later wrote, Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

Now that's what you and I were, and that's why Jesus found his way into our lives.

He came to save us from our sins and to give us a brand new identity in Jesus Christ.

Yes, you were a sinner saved by grace.

But now you are a child of the King.

Picture this…the day Jesus saved you, He looked at His father and said, "Mission

Accomplished.

Now that's good news.
