World: 'The U.N. bullies Israel, ' Haley tells Netanyahu in Jerusalem

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley smiles during a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlinat his residence in Jerusalem on June 7. By Ruth Eglash By Ruth Eglash June 7 at 8:34 AM Follow @reglash.

JERUSALEM — As she received a hero's welcome, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Wednesday that Israel faces bullying at the United Nations — and that she has no patience for it.

Haley arrived in Israel one day after threatening to withdraw U.S. participation in the U.N. Human Rights Council unless it changes its ways in general and its negative stance on Israel in particular. [U.S. says it may pull out of U.N.

human rights body, citing member abuses, treatment of Israel] Haley, a former governor of South Carolina who often is touted as a future Republican presidential candidate, has focused heavily on what she calls the mistreatment of Israel during her six months at the United Nations.  Her efforts have made her a darling of Israeli leaders, and have endeared her to conservative U.S.

"Thank you for all your help and standing up for Israel, standing up for the truth," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Haley after their meeting in Jerusalem.

He said that with backing from President Trump, Haley had begun to "change the discourse" on Israel within the international forum based in New York.

"You know, all I've done is to tell the truth, and it's kind of overwhelming at the reaction," she said. "It was a habit. And if there's anything I have no patience for it's bullies, and the U.N.

was being such a bully to Israel, because they could." Haley said that she has started to see a change in attitude toward Israel in the United Nations, a body that Israel has consistently complained is overwhelming against it, mostly in regard to its 50-year occupation of the West Bank and its day-to-day treatment of the Palestinians.  Israeli leaders are hopeful that with Haley's support, backed by the Trump administration, there will be a change in the way Israel is treated at the U.N.  At a meeting of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday, Haley said the United States was "looking carefully" its participation in the council and she lambasted it for allowing countries involved in human rights abuses to remain members while maintaining what she called "chronic anti-Israel bias." "It's hard to accept that this council has never considered a resolution on Venezuela, and yet it adopted five biased resolutions in March against a single country, Israel," she said.

Haley will spend three days in Israel, where she is slated to visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial, spend time in Tel Aviv and take a helicopter ride to Israel's border with the Gaza Strip.

She also will meet with Palestinian leaders, Israeli media reported. "We are honored to welcome you to our country and thank you for standing resolutely by our side," Israeli U.N.

Ambassador Danny Danon said at a welcoming ceremony for the American diplomat.  Danon will accompany Haley throughout most of the trip, except during her meetings with the Palestinians and while she takes a private tour of Jerusalem's holy sites.  He said that with help from Haley and the U.S.

administration, "now is the time to enact real reforms at the U.N. so that it will reflect Israel's true stature in the international community." Read more: U.S.

Nuova bozza del decreto biometano per l'Italia: puntare sul settore dei trasporti- English subtitles - Duration: 2:48.

New biomethane incentive scheme in Italy:

what are the main points in the new draft Decree?

The main points essentially regard

the use of biomethane in the transport sector.

There's a clear decision, a clear lead from the Government,

to direct the first developments in biomethane

towards use in the transport sector,

because that's where we, as a country, have the most urgent need

to increase the share of renewable sources.

We've already made good ground in the other two targets,

RES electricity and IT cooling,

whereas in the transport sub-target we're slightly behind

and therefore we need to add an extra impetus

which I think biomethane can give.

What forms of biomethane are incentivized?

Well, as I was saying before,

biomethane used in the transport sector,

either produced and/or consumed in situ by farms

or manufacturing plants for their own use, or supplied

to the natural gas transmission and distribution network

to then reach end-users in the transport sector

- cars, urban buses or tractors.

We felt, now there are these innovations in biomethane tractors,

and this represents another frontier of application

that we look to with great interest,

and the agricultural sector can make an additional contribution

to reducing polluting and climate-changing emissions.

So, what are the next steps?

The next steps are that we're still finishing

our analysis of the substantial contribution given by the public,

by research associations and organizations and by the universities.

My thanks go out to them

because we've received some very interesting contributions,

including a number of ideas and corrections,

that we liked a lot and that we'll certainly incorporate.

The next steps are: re-writing the text by the middle of March,

after which discussions begin with the European Commission

to assess the compatibility of these measures

with legislation on state aid.

Following this,

therefore hopefully around the summer or immediately afterwards,

there'll be the signing of the Decree

and everything will become fully operational.

UK voters to cast their ballots in key general election - Duration: 1:47.

In just a few hours, millions of people across the United Kingdom will be heading to polling

stations to cast their ballots in the country's general election.

Prime Minister Theresa May is likely to increase her majority in parliament according to the

latest polls, bolstering her position in Brexit negotiations, although she has seen those

margins shrink in recent weeks.

Yu Joonhee has this report.

More than forty-thousand polling stations across the U.K. will open on Thursday morning,

where voters will elect 650 lawmakers into the House of Commons.

Around 46-point-nine million British citizens have registered to vote, which is up from

46-point-four million seen in 2015, during the last general election.

The early election comes after Prime Minister Theresa May called to elect a new parliament

back in April, eyeing to increase the Conservative Party's majority and strengthen her leadership.

She's banking on the results giving her a legitimate mandate ahead of the U.K.'s upcoming

Brexit negotiations with the European Union.

However, not all has gone according to plan, with her once commanding lead over the opposition

Labour Party having sharply narrowed in recent weeks.

In spite of that, the Conservative Party is still expected to win and provide Theresa

May with a moderate increase to the small majority she inherited from David Cameron

last year.

Despite the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London, both Theresa May and Labour Party

leader Jeremy Corbyn maintained their focus on the issue of Brexit on the final day of

their campaigns.

While May pledged to fulfill her promises on Brexit, Corbyn took aim at the Conservative

Party's fiscal austerity, saying it has hurt working-class people while increasing social

inequality.

The campaign period has been marred by violence in recent weeks, following a string of terror

attack by Islamist militants in Manchester and London that killed 30 people.

Parliament strained over supporting President Moon's pick for top gov't jobs - Duration: 2:57.

It's the day after 'Super Wednesday' when lawmakers spent the entire day grilling President

Moon Jae-in's picks for top jobs in the government.

Now they have to decide how they're going to vote on the nominees.

Let's go straight to our reporter at the National Assembly on the line for an update.

Se-min,…

I hear the parties there were not able to come to an agreement.

Tell us more.

Right, after a full day of confirmation hearings the major political parties failed to find

common ground on adopting the hearing reports on the nominees.

Instead, the parties are holding separate general meetings amongst themselves to decide

whether or not to support

their appointments.

Three nominees are waiting for approval -- the nominee for Deputy Prime Minister, who will

also double as finance minister, Kim Dong-yeon,...

Foreign Minister nominee Kang Kyung-wha,... and the nominee for the Fair Trade Commissioner

Kim Sang-jo . The opposition parties, -- namely the Liberty

Korea Party, the People's Party and Bareun Party -- have been opposed to their nominations,…

pointing to allegations of irregularities in their past.

But the latest we have this afternoon... is that while the center-left People's Party

said earlier it does not support the president's pick for foreign minister, Kang Kyung-wha,…

it will support appointing Kim Yi-su as chief of the Constitutional Court.

It's the last day of confirmation hearings for Kim,... so we'll be watching that session

as well.

So the parties are discussing what to do amongst themselves for now.

What are the different scenarios we can see going forward?

Unlike the appointment of the now-Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon,… ministerial posts do not require

a full floor vote by the parliament,… but the head of the Constitutional Court, Kim

Yi-su, does.

That's why the opposition party lawmakers are trying to shoot down at least one of

the minister-nominees.

President Moon can bulldoze his way through and appoint both the Deputy Prime Minister

and the Foreign Minister,… but that would tear parliament apart,... already strained

after the rocky appointment of the Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon.

And once again,... that would seem to be the exact opposite of what President Moon had

promised,... earlier,... of drawing cooperation from both the ruling and the opposition parties.

So we would have to see how the opposition parties move.

Daeun?

More Koreans embracing nature and its therapeutic effects - Duration: 4:49.

Koreans are starting to truly embrace the country's natural environment.

More than just as a way to spend their weekends away from the concrete jungle.

Kim Jung-soo shows how people are turning to nature to recharge and heal the mind and

body.

"Korea's rapid modernization gave some people the feeling that the forest, and even nature

in general, are places isolated from society and left behind by progress.

But with today's focus on health and well-being, more people have come to realize nature's

therapeutic potential."

And few countries could benefit more from ways to improve physical and mental well-being.

Out of 35 OECD nations, Koreans on average work some of the longest hours, second only

to people in Mexico.

Korea's own statistics agency found that last year 54.7 percent of people over 13 years

of age experienced significant stress in their everyday lives.

Recognizing this problem,...

Seoul Grand Park initiated its Therapy Forest program in 2015, which has since seen 7-thousand

people apply.

It looks like an ordinary forest to the untrained eye,...but the trees here emit comparatively

higher levels of phytoncide,... a compound that helps reduce stress levels, strengthens

people's respiratory systems... and also kills bacteria.

"We have grown this forest for modern Koreans stressed out from their jobs,... as well as

for people with more serious illnesses and impediments... who need to refresh their minds

and bodies."

Every Monday, the 50-thousand-square-meter forest holds a special class for women going

through the menopause, many of whom are also recovering from serious illnesses or surgery.

A special instructor teaches them how to better interact with the natural environment... and

how to understand their own bodies more clearly.

In an urban setting,... the human body has to be constantly aware of its surroundings.

It faces non-stop demands on its attention, which drain our mental resources.

But when interacting with a natural, serene environment, the human body can regenerate

its own ability to focus."

Those interactions include... walking through the forest in pairs, with one partner blindfolded.

The catch is... the person wearing the blindfold is the one who leads the way, which requires

a much more reciprocal relationship than the ordinary leader-follower dynamic.

"I had parts of my lung surgically removed, so coming here really helps with my breathing.

Doing these teamwork exercises in the wild, I realize how valuable someone's mere-presence

can be during difficult times.

The same applies to the forest as well."

Also not far away from the capital city,... is a venue that helps people restore their

immune systems through the power of cypress trees, which are also known for emitting the

highest levels of phytoncide.

One of our most popular treatments involves a bathing in a tub filled with cypress tree

sawdust and other medicinal compounds.

The materials inside the tub are naturally heated by fermentation.

People stay inside for about 15 minutes.

It really helps with the body's circulation.

"I come here three times a week.

My shoulder problems have gone away now"

The company was recently selected as one of the 25 'wellness' companies recognized by

the country's culture ministry.

"When I think about why our company was chosen,...

I guess it is because it helps customers discover and reclaim their own way towards health and

well-being.

We are not a hospital.

People coming here are not patients waiting to be cured of a specific illness.

We provide a serene, peaceful environment, and we offer them options that they can experiment

with.

These include hot and cold saunas as well as footbaths, all the while enjoying the beautiful

scenery.

Indeed, other experts say that modern people shouldn't rely on medicine to make illnesses

go away,... but rather, try to strengthen their own bodies so they don't become sick

in the first place.

"People don't realize, but the human body has an incredible power to heal and regenerate

by itself.

Modern society tends to prioritize comfort and efficiency, but really, nature should

help us realize that we are capable of so much by ourselves."

Kim Jung-soo, Arirang News.

Joint South-North Korea event unlikely after Pyongyang fails to send invite - Duration: 0:56.

A joint event between South and North Korea commemorating the 17th anniversary of the

June 15th Joint Declaration looks like it will NOT go ahead, after Pyongyang failed

to reply to a request for an invite.

A representative from the South Korean civic group organizing the event, told reporters

on Thursday that they had sent a fax to North Korea on Monday, agreeing to their stipulation

to hold the event in Pyongyang, but so far have not heard back.

Without an official invite, Seoul cannot approve the group's visit, and with the approval process

normally taking a week to complete, the group fear there won't be enough time.

Earlier this week, North Korea also rejected a humanitarian group from coming to provide

assistance in fighting malaria, citing South Korea's support for new UN sanctions as the

reason.

HAL scouts overseas partner for Multi Role Helo Engines - Duration: 3:54.

India's state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, or HAL, has floated a global request

for information for the purchase of engines to power its homemade multi-role helicopter.

"Having designed the helicopter, there is very little else that HAL has on its table,

except setting up manufacturing facilities.

Even the avionics of the IMRH will be imported," said Vijainder Thakur, a defense analyst and

retired Indian Air Force squadron leader, referring to the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter.

HAL, which is India's sole aircraft and helicopter producer, is developing the 12.5-ton class

multi-role helicopter with a service ceiling of about 20,000 feet and a 3,500 kilogram

payload.

The company is aiming to freeze the preliminary design of its IMRH so it can be built over

the next 18 months.

Safran of France is a preferred HAL partner for helicopter engines, having visited India

in May 2017 to discuss the requirement, Thakur said, adding that Ukraine is pitching its

variant of the Mi-17 helicopter engine.

Around 200 of the helicopters are proposed to be built for use by the Indian defense

forces, including the Indian Navy, Air Force and Army for tactical troop movement, heliborne

and amphibious assault, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-surface operations.

An Indian Ministry of Defence official, however, said HAL cannot go ahead without the support

of and clear visibility from government.

"If support comes from leading foreign origin equipment manufacturers for engines, landing

gear [and so on], then it would take easily eight to 10 years" for development, the MoD

official said.

A HAL official said each IMRH could cost more than $30 million.

Sources say the IMRH is just a revival of HAL's earlier medium-lift program, which

was grounded in 2008.

They also noted that the Navy is simply not interested in IMRH, and the only takers would

be the Army and Air Force.

Safran Helicopter Engines of France is likely to be a front-runner for the supply of engines

and consultancy, in addition to General Electric of the U.S. and Rolls-Royce of the U.K.

The floating of an RFI does spur a question mark on the fate of the 2013 tender to purchase

14 Airbus EC725 helicopters.

Similarly, the tender for the purchase of 16 S-70 multi-role helicopters from Sikorsky

looks uncertain, according to an Indian Navy source.

However, Thakur said, the IMRH is not being developed to qualitative staff requirements

from any service.

"HAL doesn't have experience in building 10- to 12-ton-class medium helicopters capable

of operating from ships to boot," he said.

A HAL official said the proposed IMRH will be powered by twin engines (to be identified),

equipped with automatic flight control system, state-of-the-art mission systems, and advanced

cockpit display and avionic systems, to meet the utility and armed roles of Indian armed

forces.

A dedicated naval variant is also planned.

Starry Fantasy English translated by Hakurei Maiko

I look up to the blue sky

Of spring approaching

And spread out my wings

Just like the white clouds.

A fragrant smell lingers;

The one of blooming flowers

In the secret skies.

I cannot go there.

Thus I reach out my hand –

Can you hear my voice?

The dancing down petals

Are dancing for the sake

Of someone, don't they?

Let that person find them…

I look up to the blue sky

Of spring continuing.

It's dried out, just like

Little birds unable to fly.

I listen to a

Nostalgic voice, up in

The distant capital in the sky.

I want to go there.

Since I'll surely never

Forget

These overflowing emotions.

Petals dance down.

Hope blooms

At the promised place

For the two of us.

Let's pluck it together.

I want to go there.

Since I'll surely never

Forget

These overflowing emotions.

These dancing down petals

Are building a dainty

Bridge of light

To the skies.

Running,

I connect my hands.

On my way to you,

I smiled.

Michael Graham Missing: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | TENTEN TV - Duration: 8:12.

Michael Graham Missing: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Michael David Graham, a missing Iowa father of four, texted his family from the trunk of his car and said he had been tied up inside it, according to USA Today.

Michael Graham hasn't been seen since vanishing while working near a commercial building in North Liberty, Iowa, which is located about 100 miles from Des Moines, USA Today reported.

However, making the matter more mysterious, police now say they don't suspect foul play in Graham's disappearance and added that "family members have received text messages from Graham's phone, but still do not know his location.

Graham is a married father of four from Coralville, Iowa, who once studied at a seminary and wrote a novella.

Michael Graham's wife, Jill, has posted a frantic plea on Facebook in an attempt to find him since he went missing on June 5 in Iowa. Here's what you need to know:.

Jill Graham Wrote That She & Graham's Four Children Are 'Beyond Eager' to Have Him Home.

In the lengthy post on Facebook, Jill Graham wrote on June 5 that Graham's last known location was in a parking lot near his place of work.

"My husband, Mike Graham, went missing early this morning," she wrote. "His last known location was in a parking lot near his place of work in between Hawkeye Drive and highway 965 in North Liberty, IA.".

Jill Graham provided a description: "He's 37 years old, 5'7″, weighs approximately 160lbs, has brown hair (shaved) and brown eyes.

The local police department was able to ping his phone on the boarder (sic) of Keokuk and Washington County in Iowa around 1:15pm this afternoon. We have since lost his location and believe his phone is shut off.". View image on Twitter.

She added, "We are unable to locate his vehicle, so we assume he is with it. It's a black 2016 Volkswagen Jetta with the license plate ELL-592.

I've filled out a national missing persons report on him. Please, please share this information. He has four children and a wife who are beyond eager to have him home with us.".

After reports surfaced that police don't suspect foul play, Jill Graham added an update to her Facebook post that read: "UPDATE: We still haven't heard anything. I understand that some people may be skeptic of this post being truthful.

Unfortunately this nightmare is actually happening.". Mike Graham Is a Former Financial Adviser Who Worked for a Blood Plasma Organization.

His wife's page is also filled with photos of them as a couple and family. She wrote in 2014 that they had been married nine years at that point.

Under one photo, he wrote, "I love my dear sweet daughter Brooklyn, her love for gymnastics, and for my wife Jill Graham's photography. " He also sometimes posted religious quotes.

Michael Graham also linked to a novella that he had written. Called Running State, the 2013 book was a novel about a man struggling with alcoholism and looking back at his high school years.

The book's blurb on Barnes and Noble says, "Daniel Grant is a seventeen year old senior in high school in the year of 1996.

He hopes to be elected as the captain of the Cross Country running team because he has some extreme goals set for the team.

The wild journey and success that Dan and his teammates go through during his senior year is told by Daniel Grant as a thirty-two year old, soaked in years of drunkenness and hoping that recalling the story of his successful senior year of running in High School can help him overcome drinking and become healthy again so he can provide for his wife and three children.".
