Top 10 Scary Superhero Movies - Duration: 6:02.

Welcome back nerd squad, my name is Roya Destroyaa and this is Top 10 Nerd.

I donÕt know about you guys, but I love scary movies.

Whether itÕs horror or thriller or just something really dark and obscure, scary movies are

in a league of their own.

That being said, IÕm also from the camp that sometimes the crappier a scary movie, the

better.

So letÕs take a look at the top 10 SCARY SUPERHERO MOVIES, stuff that maybe you should

think twice before letting your kids see, but should definitely dive in yourself.

In the number 10 spot we have DARKMAN.

This 190 film is based on a short story Sam Raimi wrote to pay respect to Universal horror

films of 1930s.

It is a tale of Dr Peyton Westlake, a scientist who is developing synthetic skin for medical

purposes.

I mean, really what other purpose would there be.

The doctor is attacked by a gang, who dip him in acid and explode his lab.

Peyton survives, but the recovery process involves cutting his nerves and dealing with

his hideous burns.

Oh, and seeking revenge of course.

You can tell by the premise the film has some creepy and shall I say dark undertones.

Coming in at number 9 is DAREDEVIL.

The 2003 movie Daredevil focused on Matt Murdock, a lawyer who was blinded by acid as a child

and had his senses enhanced because of it.

After his father is murdered he sets off to fight for justice, dubbing himself Daredevil.

The film is credited for its dramatic death and is said to resemble a Greek tragedy, which

is not everyoneÕs cup of teaÑtoo brooding for some people.

It was also extremely violent and banned in Malaysia because of its disturbing scenes.

But sometimes the darkness and violence are perfect for a chill Friday night in.

Next, at number 8 we got SPAWN.

While it may not be the best rated creepy superhero movie, 1997Õs Spawn was an over-violent

and ventured down a very dark path, not something superhero movies tended to do back then.

The story follows Al Simmons, who is murdered and sent to Hell, where he agrees to serve

in the army of Armageddon for a chance to return to his life.

The original film was so violent and disturbing that it was slapped with an R rating and had

to be cut down to get a PG-13 rating, but for the remake that has been announced in

July, creator todd McFarlane promises to learn from his mistakes and keep the movie in all

its horror glory.

In the number 7 spot is BLADE.

1998 brought us this film, which featured a vampire hunter named Blade who was the result

of his mother getting attacked by a vampire while giving birth.

If you are looking for ghoulish vampires with a superhero twist and none of that sparkly

stuff, this is your film.

The movie was credited for it unique costuming and sets, as well as its awesome shadowing

and camera angle work.

And we are in the works for a 2018 reboot, which is said to be much closer to the source

comic material, as well as even darker and more violent.

Coming in at number 6 we have HELLBOY.

This 2004 dark fantasy was centered around an infant demon who is named Hellboy, and

who was conjured by Nazis in the 40s but ends up serving the good of humanity.

The film was described as eerie and distinct, with a closeness to the source material that

is oftentimes lacking in superhero films.

It also has some humor worked in, always a good thing when throwing in some spooky stuff.

Next up, at number 5 is SPIDERMAN 3.

Stick with me here, kids; Peter ParkerÕs suit is infected by the Venom symbiote and

brings out the darker side of our friendly neighborhood Spiderman, but that doesnÕt

exactly scream scary movie.

In fact, the 2007 movie itself wasnÕt scary.

What was scary is what they did with it.

Packing in way too many villains, convoluting story lines, and the scariest moment?

That jazz club scene.

A scene that still replays in my nightmares.

A scarily far cry from the first 2 spiderman films.

Up next at number 4 is THE DARK KNIGHT.

2008 was a great year for Batman, as it was the year The Dark Knight was released, one

of the most memorable movies IÕve seen.

And the film featured none other than the Joker, a character worthy of any horror movie.

But while the movie was dark and haunted, what made it even scarier to watch are the

rumors that still float around about Heath Ledger.

Did the role of the Joker drive him to insanity?

While it may not be true, itÕs still eerie to watch the movie and think about the power

of the role, and how he mastered it.

In the number 3 spot, we have CHRONICLE.

This 2012 movie follows the lives of 3 high school kids who discover a substance that

grants them telekinetic superpowers.

The movie starts off lighte heartedly enough, with the boys testing out these cool new abilities,

but quickly moves to dark and twisted places when they realize exactly how far they can

go with these powers.

The movie is found footage style which gives it a creepier feel, and if youÕre squeamish

about blood, consider yourself warned.

Coming in at number 2 is SWAMP THING.

I know I have previously said that this 1982 movie was no good and that we needed a reboot,

but it has grown into a cult classic and is truly a scary superhero movie worthy of mention.

The story goes Alec Holland was working in his lab when the lab was attacked, during

which Alec is covered in hazardous material and leaps into a swamp to escape, becoming

the Swamp Thing.

ItÕs a classic old school horror story; itÕs campy, itÕs creepy, what more can we ask

of a monster movie.

And finally, in the number 1 spot, weÕve got THE CROW.

The top of our list is 1994Õs The Crow, an emotionally dark and vivid movie centered

on musician Eric Draven, who is resurrected from death to avenge the pre-wedding murder

of him and his fiancŽe.

The film was widely praised for bringing to life a melancholic, gothic, and moody world

with a compelling storyline.

Another part of the creepy undertones is the fact that Crow actor Brandon Lee was accidently

shot dead on set.

The ending of the movie hadnÕt even been filmed yet, and the whole project was almost

put to a stop.

So those were the top 10 SCARY SUPERHERO MOVIES.

Journaling Ideas for the New Year! - Duration: 7:07.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year, I hope you all had wonderful celebrations or if you're

like me, a very relaxing transition into 2018.

I actually fell asleep last year and woke up the next, but this year I was determined

to stay awake!

With this new year, I have so much that I want to accomplish and share with you, so

I am feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the goals that I want to achieve.

And I know some of you have mentioned that starting a new journal or sketchbook is always

daunting because of the what ifs, and It's so similar to beginning the new year, except,

the days will pass no matter what.

At this point the entire year is blank and all of my thoughts of how things should be,

where I should be in my life, or what I want to do is just floating around in my head making

it really hard to focus.

So here are a few journal ideas to help cleanse our minds and then re-focus in order to accomplish

our main goals this year.

I want us to make 2018 the best year yet!

So let us let go of all the thoughts and past experiences that are stopping us from being

our best selves and living our best life.

And since I've fallen in love with my January Setup and have received so much love from

all you for the setup, I am going to continue the winter lights theme into these few journal

pages and hopefully make them just as magical.

I am going to let go a little bit in these pages as well and draw very loosely without

any need for perfection, just to get my thoughts flowing.

So you are more than welcome to follow along and we can do this together.

The first exercise is called Reflections.

On this page, write down your top 5 to 10 accomplishments, no matter how big or how

small they may be.

And it could be a mental, spiritual, or a physical accomplishment such as becoming more

patient or being more aware of your actions and how it affects others.

So for example my first one is that I was able to let go of all of my negative emotions

and forgive those who have hurt me in anyway.

I've been learning that holding grudges even the slightest dislike for something or

someone, only affects the person who is holding it and it'll eventually continue to get

heavier and heavier. and In order for me to achieve my goals, I have to let go of the

past and look towards the future.

Make sure to take time to pause and reflect on these and really acknowledge them.

Next is a message to yourself.

What advice or thoughts do you want to share with your future self based on all that you

learned this year.

So for example, I wrote, Dear me, do not let anyone determine your happiness.

Be in control of your thoughts and feelings.

Do not give others or things the power to make you feel anything but what you want to feel.

Be kind to others and most importantly, be kind to yourself.

You can achieve everything you set your mind to.

Love me.

It does sound a little weird to write this, but I love this exercise because it forces

me think in a different perspective.

I feel like I give others my best advice and rarely do that for myself, so this is the

perfect exercise for that.

Read this as many times as you need during the year as a reminder to be better than that you once were.

The third exercise is called Cleanse.

This is the place where you dump all of the things that didn't work out, wished you

had accomplished, all of your fears, weaknesses, and disappointments.

Sometimes we go through these emotions and we don't let them out, instead bits and

pieces of them burden our mind and continually stop us from moving forward.

This is the place to let it all go and write them down.

Make sure to pause between each one and really think of the emotions connected to them and

then let them out onto the page.

On the next page we are going to list our top 2018 Goals.

Underneath each goal write, in a short sentence or two, how you plan on achieving that goal.

So for example, my first goal is to be productive and responsible with my time and to try my

best to maximize it.

Underneath that I wrote: Check my cell phone less and remind myself to stay focused.

This exercise helps with determining the smaller steps you'll need to take in order to reach

the larger goal.

Similar to writing a set of simple instructions for yourself and it'll help the goal feel a little more achievable.

The fifth and final exercise is called Visualize.

Try to envision yourself, this time, next year.

What have you accomplished, how do you feel, and basically who are you?

I visualize that I am a healthy small business owner with a positive outlook and an incredibly

patient and kind heart.

Healthy in terms of being in control of what I eat and how I eat.

I know that there is so much that I will need to overcome during this year, but that visualization

is where I want to end up.

So take your time and really try to picture yourself, this will hopefully be the summary

of your story at the end of the year.

If you haven't noticed I've been skipping pages in between each spread because this

Moleskine is ghosting and bleeding pretty bad.

Since I want to use this notebook because I received it as a gift, I'll just go back

in and double stick tape the pages together.

For the rest of the book, I may use it more like a sketchbook with pencil because it seems

so wasteful to keep taping the pages together, but that's something i'll figure out later.

As I go on through 2018, I am going to flip back through these pages to remind myself

of where I came from and where I aim to be.

I am strongly determined to conquer this year and I really hope you can conquer yours!

Popular Anime That Is Too Twisted For Hollywood - Duration: 5:51.

Hollywood has an embarrassingly poor track record when it comes to adapting anime properties

for the silver screen.

And if the negative reaction to Ghost in the Shell is anything to go by, that's not likely

to change anytime soon.

Hollywood hasn't abandoned their attempts to find the right approach to anime remakes,

but some of the stuff is just too weird for western sensibilities.

Prison School

On the surface, Prison School seems like the kind of property that might fit right in with

other dystopian teen flicks.

But the way this anime shows its young characters struggling against injustice is nothing like

The Hunger Games.

This adaptation of Akira Hiramoto's manga series follows five boys who get accepted

into a prestigious school that was formerly only available to female students.

After almost immediately getting caught peeping in the girl's locker room, the boys are thrown

in the school's own horrific prison.

What happens is way too graphic to describe here, but it's safe to say that Hollywood

isn't likely to consider buying the rights to a show that blends high school life with

Fifty Shades of Grey anytime soon.

No Game No Life

The overwhelming popularity of Sword Art Online has not only been responsible for a boom in

MMORPG-themed anime, but also paved the way for advances in real life virtual reality

gaming.

But while a live-action series of Sword Art is currently being developed for U.S. television,

that isn't likely to happen with another series called No Game No Life.

This anime is the story of Sora and his little sister Shiro, two reclusive gamers who are

transported to a world called Disboard by the God of Gaming after they defeat him in

a game of chess.

Once there, the siblings launch a plan to usurp the reigning god and take over.

The story in itself is pretty standard in the emerging MMORPG genre, though the extremely

creepy relationship between Sora and his 11-year-old little sister raises numerous red flags.

That's all we can really say about that, but it's pretty safe to assume that you'll never

see No Game No Life on the big screen in the US.

And you may be put on a list even if you watch the anime.

Sekkou Boys

Recently named among the best idol anime of all time by My Anime List, Sekkou Boys is

also one of the most bizarre, idol or otherwise.

The show follows the exploits of Miki, a recent graduate who lands a dream job managing an

all new idol group, which isn't that unusual….

except this idol group is made up of four Greco-Roman busts.

Yeah.

Singing stone busts Saint Giorgio, Medici, Hermes, and Mars take the idol world by storm

with Miki's help, which mainly involves wheeling them from gig to gig in a wheelbarrow.

The offbeat humor and crazy set up that made this unique show so popular would undoubtedly

be lost in the transition to the big screen.

Elfen Lied

Originally airing in 2004, Elfen Lied came to the attention of western audiences after

the success of Stranger Things.

Just like the Duffer Brothers hit, Elfen Lied follows a girl with mysterious powers as she

escapes experimentation at a government facility and wreaks havoc on her captors.

The sibling creators of Stranger Things were quick to acknowledge the show as an influence

once people started noting the similarities.

Even still, there's too much violence for Lucy's story to make it to the screen intact,

and there's one terrible instance of animal abuse that would be enough to give Hollywood

execs nightmares.

It makes the subsequent brutal murder of her tormentors satisfying to watch, but animal

lovers beware.

Kinnikuman

First conceived by the writer and artist team known as "Boiled Egg", Kinnikuman initially

started out as a parody of '60s sci-fi series Ultraman, but was also largely influenced

by the rise in popularity of pro-wrestling in Japan.

The story follows the missing prince of planet Kinniku as he attempts to prove himself worthy

of his title through wrestling competitions with other Super Men, all of whom are embodiments

of the places they represent.

Even though branded action figures flooded American toy stores back in the '80s, one

of the reasons the anime never really made it to the US because of the character Brockenman,

a full-fledged Nazi who would wrestle in an SS-themed outfit.

The fact that they attempted to make his son Brocken Jr. a "good Nazi" was even worse in

many ways.

Despite its cult status in Japan, Kinnikuman is way off the Hollywood radar.

Mysterious Girlfriend X

Equal parts engrossing and just plain gross, Mysterious Girlfriend X is the unconventional

love story of 16 year old Akira and his loner classmate Mikoto, two teens who bond over…

spit.

Realistic or not, Hollywood execs aren't about to get excited over a love affair based on

a saliva fetish, no matter how well received it's been in Japan.

Plus, you'd be hard pressed to find a pair of actors willing to spit in each other's

mouths.

That hasn't stopped anime fans from wanting to see more animated weirdness, however.

Only a single season exists right now, despite plenty of unused material from the original

manga.

A petition was started to bring Mysterious Girlfriend X back, though studio Hoods Entertainment

has yet to oblige.

Akikan!

Translating to English as 'Empty Can', the utterly bizarre Akikan takes place in a world

where anthropomorphic soda cans do battle to determine which type of drink container

is superior: steel or aluminum.

Caught up in this perplexing soda war is high school student Kakeru, a collector of rare

soda containers who is taken by surprise when his can of melon soda transforms into a beautiful

human girl.

The creatively-named Melon needs to be regularly infused with carbon dioxide in order to survive

as a human and defeat her competitors, and Kakeru is more than willing to help.

Not only would it be difficult to give any real resonance to an ongoing battle between

living soda cans, but Akikan's over-the-top depiction of certain stereotypes just wouldn't

fly in Hollywood.

This one's going to have to be kept in the can.

the girl with eight names. - Duration: 5:13.

Hi, it's nice to meet you you call me... well... it's a little complicated

I was born as 陳欣怡/陈欣怡 (chénxīnyí) and for those of you not familiar with

Mandarin, this name is kind of the Chinese equivalent of Emily Smith.

Thanks Dad for all that originality right there...

When I was about 5 years old my family relocated from Malaysia to America

and let me tell you that transition wasn't easy.

It had helped that my parents refused to give me an English name

because they prided themselves in our heritage and you don't want me to lose my roots.

At least they didn't make me take the direct romanization of my name ("xin yi"),

but being known as Shin Yi made elementary school pretty rough.

None of the teachers could ever pronounce my name right the first time and there was

a lot of confusion about whether "Yi" was my middle name or not.

I was bullied for being Asian and the language barrier certainly didn't help me make any friends.

Needless to say, I hated being Chinese.

It's perhaps the reason why at a very young age

I began searching for alternatives.

I remembered that my mom told me about my uncle who informally dubbed me as Cindy just for fun.

I didn't think it sounded half bad and my heart automatically latched on to it.

There was this girl named Joyce whom I met in orchestra.

I highly admired her for her natural academic talent and violin skills.

And, because my name also denotes joy,

I began to grow an affinity for her name as well.

I was determined to find an

English name which I could eventually legally adopt on my 18th birthday.

At the end of elementary school,

one of my friends told me a story about her friend named Nomi.

I don't remember much of anything about the story itself, but the

name struck something inside me.

I just love the sound of that name -- Nomi.

It's light on the tongue and has a really nice ring.

It was also around this time

that I started becoming involved in online art and gaming communities.

That was back in around 2005 and I remember it was also the height of Internet horror stories.

We were warned to never share any personal information online, so, heeding

everyone's advice, I chose to adopt Nomi as my brush name,

or the name that I would create art under.

In eighth grade I started taking French classes.

In order to help us connect with the language, we were asked to adopt a French name,

and just like that I also became Yasmina.

I loved French so much that I

began to fall head-over-heels for their culture, too.

Thinking back on it... that's probably one my desire to travel first sparked

and along with it, my interest in learning about all sorts of different

cultures including... yes, the one I had so wholeheartedly rejected in my youth.

In a funny way, learning French made me proud of being Chinese

and by high schooI, I was starting to lose interest in finding a new name.

But despite the fact that my own perception of the name Shin Yi improved

it didn't mitigate any of the confusion it continued to cause for everyone else.

For example, when college applications came around

I saw no end to the variations of my name from schools vying for my money.

from Shin to Shin-Yi and Shiny, I was growing more

and more concerned about the legal implications of my name in adulthood.

And, of course, the struggles also impacted my everyday life.

Like, whenever I ordered coffee,

it was this whole stressful ordeal.

I'd tell the cashier my name but

between me speaking it and them writing it down

who knew what they'd actually heard and how they'd spelt it.

To make things worse, the barista calling the names for the ready-to-go orders

aren't typically the same person as the cashier whom I told my name to.

I'd have to have her close to the pickup bar and

anxiously check every order that gets called just in case they couldn't pronounce my name.

After one too many awkward situations,

I adopted a Starbucks named...

Emily. Because I figured no one could ever screw that up, right?

(apparently I was wrong)

So, yes.

I did get my name legally changed at eighteen...

to Shin Yi!

Without the space, everyone knew that Yi was in my middle name

and all the weird variations we saw from all those college letters ceased.

Objectively speaking, the change was quite minute, but,

to me, it was definitely a distinctly new name.

After all, I'd spelled the original name with a space for almost two decades

and it wasn't until recently that I finally became comfortable

identifying myself without the space.

But... I still do refer to myself as Shin Yi about half the time

As 欣怡 ("xīnyí"), if I'm out with my Chinese friends

As Emily, if I'm at a coffee shop

And as Nomi online.

The point is,

while names are very important because they're the first layer of recognition as

well as the way we identify ourselves from others...

if you're not happy with your name, don't sweat it!

You have the power to create your own names and the stories behind them.

In a way, me coming to terms my birth name is

sort of an allegory of what happened with this channel and the name Piquetures.

To be quite honest, I was never completely happy with the name

but instead of changing it, which I've considered on numerous occasions,

I've decided that I'm going to focus on working on developing its identity.

Up until now, Piquetures was a conglomeration of lookbooks,

travel vlogs, lifestyles, you-name- it I-probably-tried-it-then-deleted-it videos.

But from now on, Piquetures will be a catalog of videoscapes

inspired by art and travel.

So, remember, as we step into the new year or heck

even just into a new day,

How To Be Your Own Greatest Creation - Duration: 3:44.

In a time long long ago there was this absolutely genius sculptor, he made these beautiful creations,

and no one really understood how he did it

So one day he was asked by one of the local men, how do you manage to make such beautiful

sculptures

This artist, he looked at the man in his eyes and said "I never created my statues, I

simply revealed them"

"My only talent" he said "Is in looking at the block of stone and seeing the Angel

within, and I carve until I set him free"

Now this artist, he went by the name of Michelangelo, You may have heard of him.Michelangelo he

understood this great truth, that the block of marble, it's nothing, but it's also

anything, and the potential of what that marble block is capable of, is limited only by the

imagination and will of the one wielding the tool

I want you to understand that you are that marble, that block of stone is you and your

life, and anything you want to become of your life is available to you.

But just like that block, if you don't start to define it, it will remain as nothing more

than a block of possibility.

See as great of an artist as Michelangelo was with stone, we are capable of even greater

creations with our own realities, because we have the ability to not only design, but

redesign.

If you've made a mistake in your life, you have the ability to change.

Because your destiny, your life path is not created in stone

You can add on to yourself, you can develop the type of skills that you want, be the type

of person that you want, live the type of life, that you want

So if there are things in your life that you don't want to be there anymore, like excess

stone on a sculpture, you can chip away at them, until the only thing left to reveal

is that grand outcome of a life that you designed.Now here's what's cool for you, because we

always hear those phrases like "life is about finding yourself" but life isn't

about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself.

Michelangelo said "I saw an angel in the marble and carved until I set him free"

I want to encourage you to have that same vision for yourself and your life moving forward.

Know what your capable of and carve and design until you set that person free

So here's 3 simple steps to start creating the sculpture of your life

So step #1 Consider what you want your life to look like,

not just in a material way, but also like Who do you want to become?

What do you want to be known for?

How do you want to impact and contribute to the world?

Step#2

Consider what you already like about your life and start putting more effort and time

towards emphasizing those things.

And what else would you like to add to your life?

And finally, step #3

Consider what is already there that you currently want to rid of in your life?

Start chiseling away at that until the only thing left to reveal is your ideal lifeNow,

I know it sounds easy, but the process is ongoing and it'll be challenging at times,

trust me.

So like chipping away at stone to slowly reveal the masterpiece, you just have to get started

and keep going.

Always remember, we are both the marble, and the sculptor…As for the tools, they are

already in your hands…

Happy new year, I'm Hank Jongen, here to tell you what's happening with the department in January.

There's a new secure sign in option just released for your myGov account.

It's an app called myGov Access which creates a one-time access code

to use when you sign in to your myGov account.

It means you don't get your one-time code sent as an SMS.

It's the perfect option when you're overseas

or in an area with poor mobile network coverage and you want to use your myGov account.

If you're heading overseas, you need to download and set up myGov Access

on your mobile device before you go.

It's available for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Bringing services to people is really important,

which is why our Mobile Service Centres are so valuable.

These specialised vehicles travel to rural and regional communities
