Oval: the most versatility

Your natural shape can work a lot of looks.
Award-winning stylist Charlotte Mensah told Marie Claire,
"This face shape works with almost any type of short hair cut from super short, to chin
length or shoulder length."
If you prefer a length that's a little longer, you can rest assured that'll work too.
UK-based salon owner Sam Burnett told the mag,
"Medium length hair looks great when it's maintained well; think fuller, blunt styles
with no layering."
But if you battle frizz on the reg, Burnett recommends lengthier locks since that extra
weight will give you total control.
Round: it's hip to be square
Round-faced rockstars, you'll want to go for a style that's on the longer side, with some
subtle layers.
Daniela Schult, senior stylist at Cutler/Redken, told StyleCaster,
"Square shapes are great for round faces.
Whether it's in the form of layers or within the contour lines in order to balance the
roundness of the face, as a rule of thumb."
"Anyway, what kind of hard-hitting journalistic questions are you gonna ask me?"
Shult says one of the biggest mistakes for round faces, is wearing a hairstyle that's
also round, and hitting at your chin.
Heart: rock those cheeks
If you have a heart-shaped face, you'll need to be especially careful when choosing a haircut.
Schult tells StyleCaster,
"Heavy, short bangs that extend too far into the sides of the forehead make the top of
the head look even wider."
"Look at us, couple a losers, we both got dumped.
Geesh."
But there are plenty of flattering styles you can rock.
Just make sake sure your cut adds width to your lower face while reducing width at the
top.
You'll also want to accentuate your amazing high cheekbones that Schult says are common
for heart-shaped faces.
But if that's too much to remember, we'll make it even easier: Just pick your favorite
Reese Witherspoon haircut and call it a day.
"I feel comfortable using legal jargon in everyday life.

Square: hit the beach
If you have a square-shaped face, an easy breezy style is a phenomenal choice.
Schult told StyleCaster,
"I often hear clients complain about hairlines that were left too heavy or layers that were
cut very square-shaped.
They feel that their haircuts make them look almost masculine and lack softness and femininity."
If you're looking to soften up your look, Schult recommends asking your stylist for
layers that are more rounded and textured.
She also recommended long "beachy" layers and elongated side-sweeping bangs.
If you can't quite picture your look and need some celebrity hairstyle inspo, actress Olivia
Wilde is most definitely your girl.
"'Cause I'm the girl with the lower back dragon tattoo."
"I think we've all learned something here today."
"I think so, too."
Rectangle: bye-bye middle part
You might think that following the guidelines for square faces would also apply to rectangular
faces, but as it turns out, that's not necessarily the case.
While a square jawline is present for both shapes, stylist and host Jenny Strebe explained
on her channel,
"The rectangle face shape is long and narrow with prominent cheekbones, with a square jawline."
Strebe also shared her secrets on how to best highlight a rectangular face, saying:
"The goal is to prevent your face from appearing longer than it is by adding fullness to the
width of the face."
This means you'll want to steer clear of middle parts, too much volume at the top of your
hair, and you'll also wanna ditch those long, flat styles.
Instead, try parting your hair over to the left or right side and go for a "low volume"
style," like gentle waves.
Just because long hair might tack on some additional length to your face, that doesn't
mean you need to rush out and get a pixie cut.
Shoulder- to mid-length hair can actually work really well for rectangular faces.
Oblong: pump up the volume
Although narrower overall, an oblong face shape features a wider forehead compared to
an oval face.

But if you're not into long locks and deep side parts, beachy waves will also create
balance and add volume where it looks best.

in with the swirl and just add that around our sentiment. We're going to
stamp the inside sentiment in tranquil tide and then bring back that little
swirl and go right underneath. I've got two pieces of tranquil tide ruffled
ribbon. We're going to attach one of them right here on the back; you can see I'm
just using some snail to adhere that down and then we're going to add
dimensionals all over the back. Let's add that to the front and tie that remaining
piece of ribbon there in a knot. And now three gold metallic pearls I'm telling
you these pearls polish it off nicely! Guys we have a beautiful and quick card

The Truth About Lindsie Chrisley - Duration: 8:03.
Chrisley Knows Best alum Lindsie Chrisley is best known as the eldest daughter of real
estate developer and master of snark, Todd Chrisley.
But although Lindsie has since moved on from the show, she can't seem to shake the family
penchant for controversy.
This is the untold truth of Lindsie Chrisley.
"On a scale of one to ten, Chrisley is an eleven."
A disappointing marriage
Although Lindsie might seem like a goody two-shoes, she hasn't always lived life on the straight
and narrow.
In fact, Lindsie married her boyfriend, Will Campbell, behind her dad's back.
Campbell didn't even bother to reach out to Todd before eloping with Lindsie in January
2012.
As one might expect, the hush-hush nuptials didn't sit well with Todd, who prides himself
on his parenting.
He told E! News,
"I had a problem with the way the marriage started.
Not just on Will's side but on my daughter's side as well."
Todd continued,
"A father has his dreams when he has a child, you know, a young man is going to come and
knock on the door one day and say, 'Mr. Chrisley, I love your daughter so much and may I have
her hand in marriage?'"
Todd says that never happened.
Trouble after baby
It's not uncommon for couples to struggle in their relationship following the birth
of a child, something Lindsie is all too familiar with.
In a brief essay about parenting for TODAY, Lindsie admitted to "neglecting" her marriage
after Jackson was born in 2013.
She revealed,
"I feel like for a while your marriage changes, for me at least.
I fell so in love with Jackson that I almost neglected my marriage in a way.
Not on purpose, but out of the newness in our schedule, and us making Jackson our first
priority."
"You know when Mommy was little Poppa never let her jump on the bed."
"Why?"
"Well because I thought it was heathens that did that."
Interestingly enough, the couple also argued a lot about Jackson's eating habits.
Lindsie shared,
"One element of our lifestyle that I refuse to budge on at all is diet.
Almost everything that Jackson eats is organic.…I've been in many arguments with his daddy over
this."
An on-and-off marriage
Lindsie filed for divorce from Will in August 2016, saying they had grown apart.
"Things weren't working out with Will and I, so we decided to separate.
We both still really love each other but we felt like the best thing to do was figure
ourselves out."
Lindsie said in a statement to People at the time:
"He was my first love.
We got together when we were 19 years old, and over time we grew separately in different
directions instead of together.…I just don't feel that relationship gives me what I need
anymore.
I've outgrown the relationship."
Lindsie went on to emphasize the two would remain friends for their son, Jackson, and
she vowed to love Will forever.
And it turns out Lindsie wasn't lying about that last part!
She reconciled with Will in January 2018.
A friend revealed to Radar Online,
"When it came time for mediation for their divorce the two of them cancelled it, twice.
That's when they realized that they were still meant to be together, and she withdrew the
divorce papers this past summer."
These days, the two are stronger than ever.
An insider told the site,
"They have worked out their issues and live together with their son outside of Atlanta.
They are best friends and love each other very, very much.
Anyone who knows them knows this."
Calling it quits on the show
When Lindsie left Chrisley Knows Best at the end of season 5, there was a lot of speculation
about why she peaced out on the big paychecks and free publicity.
"Parents who hover create kids that have to be sneaky and do things behind their parents
back."
"But darlin', sneak is in y'alls' DNA."
Although it's fair to assume Lindsie's decision was motivated by filming logistics, since
she lives in Georgia while the series is filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, a production insider
claims the blame lands squarely on Todd.
"And now we're gonna have nothing but quality family time."
"Yeah, who wants to do that?"
Apparently, Todd was dead set on using Lindsie's divorce as a plot device in the show, something
she didn't appreciate.
The source alleged to Radar Online,
"Todd used Lindsie's heartache for a storyline, and he did not care either way how she felt
about it...In the end it ruined his relationship with his daughter."
Lindsie probably wouldn't want her son to witness her marital strife unfold on national
television, and she's a pretty private person overall.
But the most compelling piece of evidence might be Lindsie's social media accounts,
where it appears she's scrubbed any evidence that she once starred on Chrisley Knows Best.
We don't know about you, but we smell some burnt bridges.
Setting her priorities straight
Out of all the Chrisley children, Lindsie is arguably the most grounded of them all.
Just ask Lindsie's biological mother, Teresa Terry, who doesn't think Todd's money and
fame will change her daughter in the long run.
"The people that help in this house the most is the ones that's gonna benefit when I'm
rotting in the ground."
"You've been saying that my whole life.
And you're still here."
Teresa told the Daily Mail,
"I think Lindsie will always be okay, she's got a good head on her."
But if you want further proof Lindsie isn't easily swayed by her family's recent riches,
just take a look at her life post-Chrisley Knows Best.
Instead of securing a spin-off show or some other high-profile project, Lindsie opted
to start the parenting-centric podcast Coffee Convos with Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry.

The venture is almost completely behind-the-scenes for Lindsie, and it allows her to spend plenty
of time with her son, Jackson.

The reality off-camera
In the early seasons of Chrisley Knows Best, Todd made it his mission to present a strong
and loving family unit for viewers.
But the truth is, the Chrisleys are far from perfect, especially when it comes to Julie's
relationship with Lindsie.
"Crazy does not begin to describe the Chrisley family.
Our family's not normal."
A perfect example of this is when Julie snubbed Lindsie and her younger brother, Kyle, on
Father's Day 2018, a slight that didn't go unnoticed by fans.
To sum up the drama, Julie posted a sweet Father's Day message on Instagram featuring
pictures of Todd with her biological children: Chase, Grayson, and Savannah.
She captioned it:
"Happy Fathers Day to you Todd Chrisley.
From the first day I met you, you made it clear to me that you were a father first and
foremost, and I respected you then and sooo much more today.
Thank you for being an amazing father to our children."
Although the post might seem innocent and sweet on the surface, it's a bit strange Julie
didn't think to include Lindsie or Kyle.
Plus, let's not forget Julie adopted Lindsie years before that particular Father's Day.
An insider dished to Radar Online about the odd situation, saying,
"All she ever really wanted was her perfect family with Todd, Savannah, Chase, and Grayson.
She pushed Lindsie away and she also was a big reason why Kyle left the show in the beginning."
Trouble with her brother
Some fans might remember Kyle, Todd's eldest son, as being a bit troubled on the show.
"You are a walking ad for why not to use drugs."
In the first season of Chrisley Knows Best, Kyle's drug addiction issues came to light,
and he eventually was fired from the show following a big fight with Todd in 2013.
Todd, who claims Kyle is bipolar, said of the blow-up in an interview with E! News:
"I didn't kick Kyle off the show.
He refused to take his medication.
He was hostile to the crew.
He was hostile to other people on the show and you can't have that."
Kyle countered his father's claims by labeling him a "snake" in a sit-down with the Daily
Mail, saying,
"My dad is all about control.
He's vindictive and manipulative.
He's a snake, and if there's a snake in the grass, you don't know, but hell, it'll
bite you when you go by."
Unfortunately, it sounds like the fight trickled down into Kyle's other relationships because
he doesn't talk to anyone in his family anymore, including Lindsie.
He explained to Radar Online,
"I do not talk to my family but I wish them nothing but the best.
I have moved on with my life.
I am just going to be the best father and husband that I can be."

the door shut the door not necessarily a physical door to shut yourself in but to
shut everything out to shut everything out for a while and just in there in
that place of solitude for all of my public life traveling all around the
world you know from hotels and limousines and
all the rest of the busy life I live guess what I seek solitude the time
alone part of it up at the farm for me making wind and growing crops as part of
it but some of that sort of just like a diversion doing something else versus
you know traveling and lecturing but sometimes I have to get alone all alone
on the side of the river bank of the river I've got a dirt bike I ride the
Jeep trails up at Clear Lake in California where there's no stop signs
where life is simple and easy listen to the birds and watch the chipmunks a way
and when you get into your closet it says shut the door and there you think
about your life and think about your marriage and think about your friends
think about the past and think about the future what could you do now once you
come out of the closet a place away solitude jot this down some answers you
must come up with all by yourself and some solutions you must come up with
alone some decisions you know your wife can help and your husband can help in
the family can help and people around you can help and friends can help and
you can get input from everywhere and finally finally when it comes down to
the final decision some of that you have to do all alone they say the presidency
of the United States is a lonely job the general of the army many times that's a
lonely job sending people into battle knowing some are going to lose their
lives that's a lonely job making those lonely decisions that's going to affect
so many but whether it affects your life personally or someone else you got to
take some of this time and get used to the time to be alone to make those
decisions and think things over okay reflecting here's what it does
helps you to gather up the past and invest it in the future so you got to
make that note because only humans can perform this miracle taking the past and

fish can't do it snakes can't do it only humans can do here's what you can do

can't believe the learning scale you can't believe what will start coming out
now into the future your promise will be brighter than you ever thought possible
learning to gather up the past and invest it in the future when my father
was about to turn 76 I said dear father can you
imagine what its gonna be like to gather up the last 75 years and invest him in
your 76 year wasn't that a good idea that's better than saying I think I can
hang on one more year I mean it come on gathering up the past and
investing it in the future jot this down the past is currency we
sometimes use this expression this person has a wealth of experience is
experience wealth and the answer is yes it's wealth the past becomes currency
coin commodity available now from lessons learned from emotions gathered
from things not missed from colors and sights and sounds and highs and lows and
progress and deceleration all of that combined now put into the next few weeks

must now put all of the learning and the emotional content into activity why

지난 12일(현지 시간) 온라인 매체 오디티센트럴은 사자 한마리가 카페 안 좁은 유리에 갇혀 학대당하고 있다는 소식을 전했다.
최근 터키 이스탄불 지역에 있는 Mevzoo 카페 사장은 1살 된 사자 '칼리쉬'의 영상을 SNS에 게재했다 논란을 빚었다.
바로 칼리쉬가 매우 좁은 공간에 갇혀 사람들의 구경거리로 전락했기 때문이다.
칼리쉬가 갇혀 있는 유리 벽은 가로로 약 1m밖에 되지 않았다. 구조는 카페 안 사람들이 모두 볼 수 있도록 'ㄱ'자 되어있었다.
사람들이 구경하는 가운데 칼리쉬는 몸을 힘겹게 돌려가며 벽의 끝과 끝을 한없이 돌아다녔다. 카페에서 이런 생활을 하고 있는 동물은 칼리쉬만이 아니었다.
현지 언론에 따르면 카페에는 총 토끼 35마리, 뱀과 말 각각 4마리, 앵무새 2마리와 악어 등 다양한 동물들이 유리 벽에 갇혀 있었다.
학대 소식에 화가 난 터키 국민들은 청원서를 통해 유리 벽에 갇힌 동물들을 즉각 해방할 것을 주장했다.
청원서를 제출한 거넬 굴리에바(Gunel Guliyeva)는 "좁은 공간에 갇힌 사자는 좌절감을 느끼는 것처럼 보였다"며 "사자를 자유롭게 하기 위해 청원에 서명해달라"고 호소했다.
이에 카페 주인도 "당국의 동물원 및 보호 센터로부터 모든 인가를 받았다"며 청원에 정면으로 맞섰다.

tax where if you're walking to a town, the police can stop you and say, "Hey, do you
have your token?"
If you didn't have a token and you didn't pay the beard tax, you are going to get publicly
shamed and they will get rid of your beard right there.
So now, let me give you some crazy dates to think about.
Men have been shaving and plucking their beard hair since 30,000 BC and they find clam shells,
they find sharks teeth, they find flint razors.
And, let's talk about plucking because that's what those clam shells were for.
Apparently, men had been plucking their beards for thousands of years.
Guys, like Julius Caesar actually apparently preferred it.
I don't know, for me, sounds incredibly painful.
I'm going to skip I'm plucking my beard.
29,600 years, that's how long the straight razor has ruled.
In various forms from copper to bronze to gold, the straight razor has had the longest
reign.
Now, the first safety razor was invented in 1762 and for that safety razor basically just
covered up most of the blade so that you wouldn't have as deep of a cut exposed less and therefore
do less damage and therefore do less damage.
So, the strange thing to me here is the way our terminology has changed.
This is now what we call a cartridge razor and we recognize that the cartridge the head
of it comes right off, so that's a cartridge razor in our definition.
But, technically what we call safety razors were initially called cartridge razors.
So, the electric razor invented in 1928.
It's been around about ninety years.
The disposable razor made popular in the 1960's, it's been around for about sixty years.

So, the next strange facial hair fact is that militaries around the world and police departments
seem to ban beards.
Why?
Oftentimes, the reason said is because in a fight in a scuffle, you don't want to
have something that somebody can grab.
But in the 1930's, the military actually banned beards because you have to be able
to get a good seal whenever you put on a face mask.
Now, this next fact is about the spelling myths.
Whenever you shave, your hair does not grow back thicker.
It appears to grow back more coarse because actually you have cut the follicle.
Now, the end of a hair follicle, what we see is it actually is thinner than at the base.
Next up, let's talk about eyebrows, a bit of facial hair that most people don't even
think about and very few people actually know both reasons why we actually have eyebrows
and what they're used for.

it's about protection.
So, eyebrows are going to keep the sun out of your eyes, whenever you sweat, they're
going to keep the sweat beaded over to the sides.
But, the second reason very few people know about this and that is eyebrows help you express
yourself.
So, when you're looking across and you're upset, you notice how you can see the eyebrows
move and that is a big part in us being able to communicate with other human beings and
why this facial hair is here.
The next strange fact about beards, shaving, and facial hair is that it is the biggest
fashion that men have fallen into for thousands of years.
Many of us have recognized, you know, the hipster trend recently, but if you go back
throughout history, this has happened again and again.
You see US presidents.
Just look at who was bearded, who was not, and how it moves up and down.
So, the next strange fact about facial hair is that beard-growing contests are apparently
huge.
They had one in Texas back in 2017 and they had seven hundred and thirty eight competitors
from thirty three countries in twenty seven categories for both men and women.
Now, apparently this contest only happens every two years, so you have time to grow
the beard.
But, this is serious business.
And next time, it's in Europe.
So, the next strange facial hair fact is that apparently beards cannot commit treason.
So, we go back to 1533, Sir Thomas More, he decides I'm not going to attend the coronation
of Anne Boleyn.
She says, "You know what?
I'm going to take her head."
And he talks to the executioner, he points out, "Hey, my beard has committed no crime,
can we please spare my beard."
And the executioner agrees, they actually moved his beard out of the way and they cut
off his head cleanly without cutting the beard.
The next strange fact about facial hair is that human beings are not the only ones that
have facial hair.
Let's look at the animal kingdom.
So, we look at lions and the obvious one, we all know about the king of the jungle,
but we also see it with the bearded emperor tamarin.
Let's look at the highland cattle out of Scotland, the lion-tailed macaque.
And did you know that orangutans are apparently the only other ape that can grow a beard.
So, another strange facial hair fact is the story behind Fidel Castro's beard.
Apparently, before the revolution, he was clean-shaven, after the revolution, he grew
a beard.
When asked why, the story was, hey, I'm going to save fifteen minutes a day, that's
ten days out of the year that I could devote to being a better revolutionary.
Now, that's a nice story for creating a good communist legend, but apparently when
Barbara Walters interviewed him, she asked the question and it just came down to, oh,
well, my favorite razor is coming in from the US, we no longer got them, so I stopped
shaving.
So, at this point, you've got some very interesting facial hair knowledge, but do

A good pizza place should, as some matter of priority, serve good pizza.
From the heavyweight names, to the up-and-coming chains, to the stalwarts of American pizza-making,
we rank the very best and the very worst of what the country has to offer.
Papa John's
Along with Domino's and Pizza Hut, Papa John's is one of the Big 3 - the major chains that
dominate the delivery market.
That's doesn't mean it's good, though.
The chain has had a number of controversies recently, as founder John Schnatter puts his
foot in his mouth so often we have to assume he's testing a new topping.
It couldn't hurt, though, because their pizza problems are even worse than their PR problems.
The crust and dough is often airy and soft.
The cheese is lacking.
And they're just greasy enough to make you hate yourself for eating them.
They claim to have better pizza, the question is… better than what?
Papa Murphy's*
The biggest problem with Papa Murphy's pizzas — aside from the crazy fact that you have
to bake them yourself — is the crust, which is thinner than a B-movie plot.
It's so thin it practically defies the laws of physics.
But hey!
It's not all bad news.
If you're after a pizza which exists in the third dimension, you can also opt for their
stuffed pizzas.
That's not a stuffed crust pizza, by the way, that's a pizza that is entirely stuffed.
Why must our only options be gluttony or starvation?
Pizzas which don't snap in half when they're picked up and pizzas which aren't literally
bursting at the seams are not mutually exclusive.
Find the middle ground, Papa Murphy's.
Uno Pizzeria & Grill*
Deep dish pizza is not pizza.
Nothing that could ever feasibly be mistaken for a birthday cake has any right to call
itself a pizza.
Uno Pizzeria & Grill seems to enjoy making a big deal about how great deep dish is, but
since they aren't actually pizzas, they don't really qualify.
Most Iconic Bowl of Cheese Soup?
Maybe.
Pizza?
No.
"What the f--- does that have to do with pizza?"
Their thin crust, however, is an actual pizza, and it's pretty good.
Unfortunately, though, they just don't have enough real pizza options to place any higher
on our list.
Little Caesar's*
Little Caesar's is a heavyweight pizza chain, no doubt about that.
It's just a shame the pizzas are so lightweight.
The sauce they use is actually kind of great, but the dough is chewy and the cheese is nothing
special, plus, they also make the mistake of thinking deep dish is pizza.
But then there's the sense of unease that comes too often with eating a Little Caesar's
pizza — the nagging voice at the back of your head which keeps telling you that you
could be eating something better.
And the only rule of pizza is always eat the best pizza.
"No calling.
No waiting.
THERE'S NO RULES!"
"Sir, put your shirt back on!"
"There's one rule!"
Domino's
The second of the Big 3 American pizza chains, Domino's has carved out a comfortable place
for themselves in the American pizza industry since their foundation founding in 1960.
And they've made big strides since their cardboard crust days.
"Worst excuse for pizza I've ever had" through 1:20:
"Totally void of flavor."
"This we hear over and over and over."
Unfortunately, their pizza doesn't quite match their big reputation.
The toppings are great, and you can completely customize your pizza order to fit your desires.
Unfortunately, the garlic-seasoned crust makes a hell of a mess, the edges are never quite
crispy enough, and the things are drenched in grease.
And nobody likes a soggy slice.
Pizza Hut
By far the best of the Big 3 chains, Pizza Hut is… still not quite really good pizza.
The toppings are okay, the crust is alright, the cheese is decent, and there are ample
options.
It's still a little too greasy, and the price is a bit steep, but on the other hand, stuffed
crust is a great idea.
"It's wrong, isn't it?"
"But it feels so right."
"So it's a deal?"
"Yes!
We eat our pizza the wrong way!"
"Crust first!"
All in all, Pizza Hut isn't bad.
It's just not quite as good as we want it to be.
Pieology
Pieology is basically Subway for pizza.
You walk in and customize your pizza from start to finish at the counter.
The choice on offer is nothing short of spectacular: five crusts, seven sauces, six cheeses and
a long, long list of meats and toppings means that pretty much the only way to make your
pizza more personal is to make the whole thing yourself.
Plus, it's family owned!
All in all, a good chain with really good pizza — if you can find one.
With locations in only 23 states, Pieology is a great idea that hasn't fully caught on
just yet.
California Pizza Kitchen
California Pizza Kitchen, self-professed inventors of the BBQ chicken pizza, have a long list
of strange pizza options, including innovative ideas like shrimp scampi, steak, wild mushrooms
and Thai chicken.
That could go wildly wrong, but thanks to high quality ingredients and toppings, it
really feels like they've put effort into coming up with something interesting — like
a chef has created these pizzas rather than, say, a marketing team.
Bertucci's
If you ever take a look at how the best pizzas you've ever had were all made, you're likely
to find a single common denominator: a wood-fired oven.
Nowhere is this clearer than at Bertucci's.
The signature pizzas on their menu tend to be more Italian in style than your run-of-the-mill
chain while the pizzas themselves are nice and crispy, with that smokey, heady taste
you can only get from a wood oven.
For sheer Italian authenticity, this is your best option, but sadly, it's limited to the
East Coast for now.
MOD Pizza
Now this is pizza royalty.
MOD's pizzas are as customizable as the ones you'd find at Pieology, and the toppings are
nothing short of superb, from pesto to roasted broccoli to arugula.
And get this: all these beautifully-cooked personal pizzas cost exactly the same, no
matter how many toppings you throw on top.
Just to cinch the deal, MOD is an ethical company who take not just quality but also
environmental impact and animal ethics into mind when sourcing their ingredients.

Well, they could be a bummer for birds.
Non-native plants are extremely poor at supporting insects.
A new study says yards dominated by non-native plants have fewer arthropods,
like caterpillars and spiders.
That spells bad news for birds like the Carolina Chickadee,
that depend on this food for their young.
But don't mourn your morning glory just yet.
Plant your yard with more than 70 percent native plants, and insects –
and birds -- should thrive.
Engineers have modeled how the neurodegenerative diseases, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and
Lou Gehrig's, or ALS, spread through the brain – often stealthily, over decades.
Combining data from diseased brains and mathematical modeling, the researchers were able to simulate
how clumps of defective proteins spread in a process that can take up to 30 years.
The team foresees a day in the future when they'll be able to calibrate their models
to make accurate, patient-specific predictions.
Turns out freshwater mussel shells are like tree rings.
The layers let you count back the seasons and years and document contaminants in the
water during specific times.
A new study found that elevated levels of strontium -- an element associated with fracking
and conventional oil and gas development –
accumulated in mussel shells downstream from fracking
wastewater-disposal sites, even after the wastewater was no longer being released.
Now the team wants to see what other pollutants mussel shells record.
They could be on to a new environmental engineering tool for health and safety.
You've heard of gene sequencing, and now there's a breakthrough in protein sequencing
– identifying the series of amino acids in individual proteins.
With their new method, called single molecule fluorosequencing, researchers can now sequence
millions of individual protein molecules simultaneously in a single sample.
This advance could have a major impact on biomedical research, making it possible to
study diseases such as cancer in a whole new way
and providing earlier, more accurate diagnoses for patients.
