Yes an applaud for her. It should be said that your name is Iman Meskini, right? - That's right.
- Just about? - Yes. - I have to apologize in advance if I call you Sana. Ok? - That's fine, I'm used to it.
- Iman, you have a social engagement and have had for quite some time, right? - Yes.
- But I've heard rumours that you avoid comment sections? - Mhm. - Why?
- When I got a phone call asking if I had experienced bullying, or know anyone that has,
my first thought was "No" because me personally haven't experienced any bullying towards me.
Then I thought about it again, and considered that I've stopped reading comment sections.
And I had a long break from reading articles on VG (online news site) i.e.
I became less and less socially engaged.
I used to enjoy discussing, I liked to be aware and discuss with friends, organizations or whomever.
But after awhile I felt like I only had to defend myself.
And that's what one have to do against bullies, defend oneself.
So I thought "Yes". I feel that muslims today are being bullied.
So even if one shouldn't... I get told not to take it personally,
but when Islam is so personal for me, it's a part of me, who I am and my identity,
so I can't not take it personally. So then I stopped reading comment sections because
I become physically tired of reading them.
- But in Skam there are some scenes with, sortof, conflict between muslims. How is that in real life?
- Yes, well, muslims like all other people have different opinions.
So there are many that support me playing a role like Sana in Skam.
But then there are many muslims that don't support me as well,
who thinks it's wrong of a muslim woman to play such a character in such a series, they say.
So they mean a series that has drinking, partying, 'hooking' and so on.
So there's a battle I have to take there as well.

- Before the song we talked about you getting some harassment from other muslims.
But what about non muslims? - I experience some there too, online.
Some Facebook messages, some Instagram comments, like "IS" comments and such.
- "IS" comments? - So "terrorist Iman" in other words? - Kind of, yes.
I got told by an older man that said "Have NRK started doing that as well"
"to have muslims on TV, now they invade the TV as well". So it's sort of, standing between two battles.
- That's the worst I've heard. - I'm baffled. IS... to make that be about you as well.
- Yes it appears in everything. - Right, it's all about IS it seems.
But if there are any muslim girls, or from other religions, that are listening/watching,
do you have any advice for them, what should they do if they get bullied, online?
- Lately I've been saying, or thinking, that we shouldn't shut up. It's Ok to talk.
It's alright to tell, and say, it isn't embarrassing to be bullied.
- But will you go into comment sections again, since you're avoiding them?
- Well, it depends if the comment sections change. Is my thought.
- But you want people to stop shutting up, as you say. Right? To get it out?
- Yes, get it out. Because the comment sections, that I've read, it's not muslim girls voices that are being heard.
It's rather the criticism against muslim girls, so I distanced myself from it.
But if we get a voice and are allowed to talk, I might read the comment sections again.
- We have Iman visiting now, but I have to ask, what would Sana do if she was bullied online?
- If she was bullied online, if she knew who it was, she'd go up to them and ask "Why are you bullying me"
or confronted them in public, because it's embarrassing for the bullies
To bully says something about having low self esteem, and if it's called out it's embarrassing.
- Something tells me I wouldn't dare to bully Sana. - Me neither. One shouldn't bully anyone though.
