Measurement of Segments Level 4 In this last video on measurement of segments
we will go over 2 challenging examples involving congruent segments and plenty of algebra to
solve.
Let's go ahead and try the first example.
The perimeter of PRST is 10 more than 5 times the length of segment RS.
If the length of segment PR equals 26 find the length of segment RS.
In this problem we are provided with a figure that has 4 line segments.
We are asked to determine the length of segment RS.
Notice that the figure contains two line segments with matching single tick marks and two line
segments with matching double tick marks.
These marks tell us that line segment TS is congruent to line segment PR and that line
segment PT is congruent to line segment RS.
We are also told that the perimeter of the figure is 10 more than 5 times the length
of segment RS.
We can translate this fact into an equation as the perimeter equals 10 plus 5 times the
length of segment RS.
We are also told that the length of segment PR is 26.
This means that the length of segment TS is also 26 since both line segments are congruent.
Next we need to determine what our unknowns are in this case we are trying to find the
length of line segment RS so we will represent this length with the variable x since line
segment PT is congruent to this segment we can also represent the length of segment PT
with the variable x.
Now it is just a matter of finding a variable expression representing the perimeter of the
figure in this case the perimeter will be equal to the sum of the lengths of all 4 line
segments.
Now that we have this relation let's substitute the numerical and variable expression for
each line segment, then we simplify the expression by collecting like terms.
Doing that we obtain the following variable expression for the perimeter.
The last step is to set the variable expression representing the perimeter of the figure equal
to 10 plus 5 times the length of segment RS, recall that the length of segment RS can be
denoted with the variable x.
From here it is just a matter of solving for x doing that we obtain x equals 14 and this
is the length of segment RS.
It is important to use geometric relations and algebra together
when solving many of the problems that you will encounter in this course.
This is why it is important to understand both the geometric concepts
and that you are well versed with algebra. Alright let's end the video with the final example.
Given that line segment AD is congruent to line segment CB, line segment AC is congruent
to line segment DB, the length of segment DB is equal to 2r plus 5, the length of segment
AD is equal to 3m plus 7, the length of segment AC is equal to 3 and one half r plus 2, and
the length of segment CB is equal to 4.2m plus 5.
Solve for the variables r and m.
In this problem we are provided with a figure that contains various line segments.
We are also given various geometric and algebraic relations.
We need to use these relations to solve for the variable r and m.
Let's first take a look at the geometric relations; we know that line segment AD is
congruent to line segment CB so let's draw single tick marks on these segments on the
figure shown.
We also know that line segment AC is congruent to line segment DB so let's draw double
tick marks on these segments.
Now that we can visually see which segments are congruent, let's figure out a way to
solve for the variables r and m.
We know from the given information that segment AD is congruent to segment CB this means that
there lengths are equal in other words the measurement of segment AD is equal to the
measurement of segment CB, since we have an algebraic expression for the length of each
segment let's go ahead and set these algebraic expressions equal to one another.
Notice that we now have an equation with a single variable m.
So we go ahead and solve for m, solving for m we obtain five thirds.
We now do that same for segment AC and segment DB, equating the algebraic expressions and
solving for r we obtain 2.
So r equals 2 and m equals five thirds.
It is important to set up the geometric relations by using the information given in the problem
once this is done it is just a matter of using those relations to solve for the unknown variables.
Alright and this ends the measurement of segments series.
In our next series of videos we will focus on measurement of angles.

Chinese Beef and Fresh Pineapple Stir Fry Recipe ~ The Best Chinese Beef Stir Fry - Duration: 4:56.
I just love fresh pineapple in a stir fry.
I'm Tess and I'll show you how I
make my Chinese beef and pineapple stir fry.
Stay tuned. (music)
This is a stir-fry so I'm getting
everything prepped and ready before cooking.
I'm starting by marinating the beef.
I have about a pound of cubed or
bite-sized top sirloin and I'm adding in
some light soy sauce, a little sesame oil...
not much, rice wine vinegar and
cornstarch. Giving that a good mix to
make sure the beef is evenly coated. I'm
setting the beef to the side for about
20 to 30 minutes and that will give me
some time to get my sauce ready and
veggies prepped. Just a reminder that
you'll be able to find this recipe, the
list of ingredients and much more in the
show more section below. For the sauce I
have some beef broth and you can use
chicken or vegetable broth or even some
water. And in goes some Hoison sauce.
You can find this at most grocery stores,
at your Asian market and I will also
leave a link below where you can order
it online. Hoisin sauce is thick and like
a Chinese barbecue sauce. I'm adding in
some light soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, a
little honey and you can use brown sugar,
and a little sesame oil. I'm also adding
in some garlic chili sauce and you can't
forget the minced garlic and ginger.
We got a lot of flavors in there and a good
balance of salty, sweet and hot. Finally,
adding in some corn starch for a
thickener. Giving that a good mix and
setting to the side.
I have my vegetables all prepped and
ready and we are ready to cook. You can
use any pan for this stir-fry. Tonight
I'm using my wok. My wok is on high
heat. I'm adding in some oil and the beef.
I'm letting the beef cook for about 15
to 20 seconds before stirring. This is
going to prevent sticking. Cooking and
stirring for about three to five minutes
or until done and then removing the
beef from the wok. The time depends on
the size of the beef. You will see the
beef get a nice crust and carmelization...
and this is a lot of flavor!
For the vegetables I'm using some onions
and bell peppers but you can use
whatever veggies you like. This stir-fry
is also really good with zucchini,
carrots, celery, snow peas or whatever you
might have on hand. I have my heat on
high and I'm adding in a little more oil.
Cooking and stirring the onions and bell
peppers for about two to three minutes.
Now the star of the show! The fresh pineapple!
You can use canned pineapple
if you wish but for me it just does not
taste the same. It's good but not the same.
Using fresh pineapple in a
stir-fry really brings out those natural
pineapple sugars and adds a nice balance
to the salty and heat. Cooking and
stirring for another couple of minutes.
Adding the beef and all the juices back
into the wok and giving it a good stir.
In goes my sauce and make sure you give
the sauce a good stir before adding.
Cooking and stirring for one minute so the
flavors combine. The sauce will thicken
and form this beautiful glaze over the
beef, pineapple and veggies. This smells
so good! And it's time to eat!
Serving tonight with some jasmine rice
and garnishing with some green onions.
This has to be one of my favorite
Chinese stir frys and I make it quite often.
You can also make this with
chicken or even tofu if you want to keep
it vegetarian. I hope you give this
delicious Chinese stir-fry a try.

So after sitting down and everybody getting ready to leave
Like literally 30 seconds after My neighbour decides to go

I dunno if something happened beforehand or
if this was completely random Cause I got on the coach really late but she
turns around to the lady behind us, like a few seats down
And she starts screaming at her at the top of her lungs
I'm still panicky about the recent stressful situation
And now this woman is screaming in my ear Swearing, at the top of her lungs to this
lady Mind you, it was in French
So I didn't even understand everything that she was saying
What the hell is going on?!
And the other lady was like "hey can you speak in English?"
And the woman got pissed off even more and she basically just started swearing
She started showing the middle finger to everybody including me
Like do you understand what this means?!

I think everybody understands what the middle finger means
Please put the middle finger down It's like holding a weapon to my face right now

I was kind of stuck with a neighbour I was really scared to piss off so I just let her
have all the space Just incase she flips off again and does something
stupid We don't want that
When I finally got to Paris and got to my accommodation
I tried to book in and they gave me a little piece of paper and asked me to find my name
My name wasn't there Why was my name not there?!
Where is my name?
The woman checks on the system and tells me THEN that my card...
Got declined, so I didn't have a reservation.
Here is anxiety moment number 3 What the hell am I going to do now?!
I don't have a reservation She asked me to show the confirmation email
and I have a confirmation email and everything Nothing says that my card got declined
What on earth is this day?
How ironic right?!
First I nearly miss my trip to Paris completely Second, my accommodation's disappeared
I was just not destined to go to Paris, was I?
Finally after checking the system and calming me down
They said they can't make some space for me And they said I was originally supposed to
have 1 room I booked 2 rooms
For me and my friend So the anxiety builds up again
I'm going to be in accommodation but my friend is sleeping outside on the streets?!
What the fuck?
Finally, she realises it's her mistake and I did actually book 2 rooms and I didn't fuck up
so she kindly gave me 2 rooms at a discounted price
Thank God Would I pay the extra couple of Euros to get
rid of the anxiety I had to endure for that?
Yes, hell yes.
Luckily the rest of the trip was amazing but I haven't felt so much anxiety in a long time

Hello. I'm Meredith DeSomma, President of
Maryland Association of the Deaf (MDAD)
Our MDAD conference is coming up soon.
Our conference theme is E3=A.
The three E's are for educate, engage and empower.
The three E equals action.
My vision for the conference this year
is to show how many resources we have in the state of Maryland.
Okay. With Educate, Engage, and Empower..
How can we use the three E's? This year we will have state agencies in attendance.
We will be able to interact with them. They educate, engage, and empower us.
We will be able to learn our resources and be educated.
Then, we will be able to develop action plans.
In duration of the conference, we will focus on the vision of the conference.
In the morning, we will focus on the three E's
by interacting with state agencies.
During lunch, we will have opportunity to have personal interaction with the state agencies.
We will also have special guests throughout the afternoon!
In the afternoon, we will have community brainstorming session
on how we can take actions for our community.
Meredith: I'm curious where the conference will take place?
Chanel: The conference will be at Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD)- Columbia Campus

Meredith: Any ticket costs?
Chanel: Yes. For our current members, it is only $5.
The cost includes breakfast, lunch and the conference registration.
If you are not a member, it is still only $20.
The $20 fee also includes one-year MDAD membership.
