How To Make Your Cat Stop Scratching Your Furniture! Make Your Own Cat Repellent Spray + COMPETITION - Duration: 4:05.
Hi everyone! Is your cat a big fan of scratching up every single piece of furniture that you own?
Me and Rags are here with a few tips to help discourage your cat from ruining your lovely furniture
Now as cat owners we see our pets as utterly perfect little creatures who can't do anything wrong
But they can be very pesky when it come to our furniture and their claws
Cats mark their territory in a variety of ways which includes scratching
So when your cat is scratching up a table leg or your couch, she's basically telling you that it's hers
We have a few helpful and harmless ways to encourage your cat to use a scratching post or other things instead of your furniture
Number 1: Get a scratching post
Now this is obviously one of the easiest things to do
You can get very decent cat scratching posts at pet shops and at your vet's
You can get some really simple ones or you can get some very extravagant ones!
The best way to get your cat to use a scratching post is to put it next to or near a piece of furniture that you want your cat to stay away from
Number 2: Encouraging your cat to use a scratching post
Now sometimes our cats don't do what we want them to do
And that happened when we got Rags her first scratching post
She really wasn't very interested
What you can do is either get a catnip spray and spray it on to their scratching post
Which will immediately get their attention
Or if you see your cat making a beeline towards a piece of furniture that they really really want to get to
Gently pick them up and move them to where the scratching post is
This will hopefully encourage them to use that instead of your piece of furniture
Number 3: Claw Maintenance
Now trimming your cats claws regularly will help minimise any damage that your cat does to any of your furniture
Now most cats are ok with getting their claws cut, but if your cat is anything like Rags and absolutely refuses to have it done
You want to get your cat to the vet's to get it done professionally
Number 4: Games
Interactive Games are a great way to encourage your cat to use a scratching post
If you can get your cat chase a teaser toy up to the top of the scratching post - they might finally realise just how good a scratching post feels like on their claws
Number 5: Using a Repellent
Now I have a great recipe for a repellent spray that is both natural and harmless
It's really easy to make so I'll show you how to do that now
Ok, this is really really easy: all you need is the peel of some citrus fruit, so that could be oranges or lemons or limes
I have the peel of two lemons and two limes and all you do is put them in a pan, cover them with water and bring them to the boil and boil them for about 10 minutes
Ok, so once it has been boiled for 10 minutes
Drain
The water and the peels into a bowl using a seep
Ok then so once that's cooled - dead easy - just pour into an empty squirty bottle
Add in a tiny tiny dash of lemon flavoured washing up liquid
Put it into your squirty bottle, give it a shake
And it is ready to go and then squirt this on to any furniture on to any furniture you don't want your cat to scratch on
Because cats really don't like citrus flavours. Great, dead easy!
Thanks for watching this video guys, I really hope that you enjoyed it and you found it useful
Just a quick reminder - that we still have our competition running
Please share your best cat care tips in the comment section below, for a chance to win this crinkly cat toy tunnel
Rags will pick a winner will be announced in the next video

Jodhpur City Guide | India Travel Video in Rajasthan - Duration: 16:43.
Well good morning from yet another destination in India.
Today we are exploring Jodhpur (जोधपुर) and we're actually going to have two whole
days here.
So pretty pumped about that.
Yeah, it is called the Blue City and for very good reason.
We'll be showing you that shortly.
And yeah we can't wait to travel around here.
This is like an essential stop in Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ).
And you know what is pretty funny?
We're both wearing blue.
That wasn't actually planned.
Oh it totally was.
Wearing blue in the blue city.
Let's get started.
Our first stop in Jodhpur (जोधपुर) was Mehrangarh Fort (मेहरानगढ़
का दुर्ग), which is one of the biggest forts in India.
The fort sits on a rocky hill overlooking the city and it pretty much dominates the
skyline with its imposing walls.
Admission to the fort itself is free, but if you've come all the way here, you'll
want to pay the admission to visit the palaces which now act as a museum.
So we've just arrived from Jaisalmer where we visited another fort but that one was a
living fort where you have hotels and restaurants and temples and shops and people will actually
have homes in there.
This wasn't doesn't feel like so much like a living fort.
It feels a bit more historic.
There is actually hardly any tourists there.
Maybe it is because we're a bit early.
But yeah, it is a pretty cool place.
It is massive.
So I'm really looking forward to getting deep into the fort and seeing what it is all about.
Alright, so it was a bit of a slow accent to the top.
It was.
But we made it.
It is a really odd day.
A few beads of sweat.
I think a little tip would be to come a bit earlier than we did.
We had a late start but man this is amazing.
The views from this fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) are just like surreal.
I've actually never seen a city quite like this from high atop.
I mean from a high vantage point.
This is just this fort is incredible and it is the kind of place that if you visit it
is going to take hours to explore.
It is not one of those like half an hour attractions.
You can literally spend a half or even a full day here.
There is just so much to see and do.
And it is not as touristy as some other forts either in India.
You can walk around some different sections and you don't notice that many tourists walking
around.
Within the fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) you can also visit
the ramparts, see the old cannons, and get some overhead views of the city which will
quickly help you realize why Jodhpur (जोधपुर) is nicknamed the Blue City.
There's also a nice cafe where you can enjoy a samosa or two.
(Traditional Indian Music)
Alright guys, so it is about 2pm would you say?
Yeah.
So that means we've been wandering around the fort for almost 3 hours?
Over.
Over 3 hours.
Over 3.
It has been a long outing.
We had to stop for food and drink.
And if you're going to visit the fort you should budget that amount of time because
there is just so much to do and if it does get hot you're going to want to cool off.
Yeah, it is massive and I mean it is on a bit of a steep incline so you're going to
need breaks along the way.
But yeah the views are cool.
Sam went shopping.
Let's get Sam on camera.
Okay Sam, so let's see.
What did you get?
What did you get?
I've been wanting to get these for a long time.
Puppets.
Puppets.
Matching puppets.
Alright.
I bought one of these for my parents like 8 or 7 years ago.
And now these are for us.
This is for our future home.
Sam is thinking becoming a puppeteer.
Yep.
A professional puppeteer.
Exactly.
And what else did you get?
Training hard for that.
Okay.
Watching YouTube tutorials about puppeteering.
And this is the last thing.
I walked into the store and saw this really cool polo shirt.
It is my new supper shirt.
Jodhpur (जोधपुर).
Fancy dining wear.
Fancy.
It does look really nice.
Are you going to show us your face?
Let's see your excited face.
That is your excited face?
Okay.
Bye.
Bye.
So the best thing about the place where we're currently staying would have to be the views.
And the sun is starting to set.
You can see the fort back there.
And our hotel also has a whole bunch of terraces where you can hangout, have a drink, read
a book and yeah just watch the sunset.
Check this out.
What?
So
for a little change of scenery we are trading the views from our hotel and we came over
to Castle Rock Hotel and Restaurant.
Yeah.
And the place really lives up to its name.
It may have the best views of the fort in the city.
I can't confirm that but so far that is definitely our experience.
Check it out.
Well good morning from Jodhpur (जोधपुर).
It is day two in the blue city and of course Sam is wearing blue again.
How appropriate.
Dressed for the occasion.
So yeah, today is going to be a fun day.
I think we're just going to have a really kind of chill day.
We're going to wander around the blue part of the city.
We're going to visit a clock tower (Ghanta Ghar) and then maybe check out the market.
And then have some lunch.
Lunch.
Lunch with a view.
That is the plan.
That is the plan.
Hello puppy.
Are you sleeping in a tuk-tuk?
Yes, you are sleeping in a tuk-tuk.
Are you supposed to be in there puppy?
Yes.
So right now we have ended up at the Sardar Market (सरदार बाजार) just
around the clock tower (Ghanta Ghar).
And I would say this is both a local market and a tourist market.
You can get produce and like everyday things.
Yeah, you see a lot of everyday like market stalls but you also see some more ones that
are geared for tourists such as the ones where you can souvenirs, carpets and saris.
Things like that.
Yeah.
But yeah, it is a busy market but we came early in the morning and it was kind of cool
because we got to see how all of these different vendors were setting up their shops and as
we walked around it started to definitely get a little busier.
We're going to take a little break after visiting the market and walking around the city.
So we found a restaurant called Indique.
It is supposed to be one of the highest rated in the whole city so we're treating ourselves
to a nice little splurge meal.
I got myself a saffron lassi (लस्सी).
Look at the color.
It is a bright yellow.
Stir it around.
And I've only had saffron in savory dishes.
This one is going to be sweet.
Mmm.
It is really good.
So it is my turn.
I'm trying the salty lassi here.
Salted lassi. (लस्सी)
Oh wow.
Yeah, that is definitely salty.
So when you get lassis in India you can choose between salted, sweet and other kinds with
different fruits.
So the salted one is really good.
That is probably my favorite.
So the first restaurant we went to Indique was closed for lunch.
So we only had drinks.
Now we've found a place called Jhankar and they have an incredible courtyard so we're
going to be having lunch in here.
And yeah it is just really cool.
It is quite lush.
It looks tropical.
And yeah let's go find our table.
Mmm.
How is that naan?
It is so awesome.
It is so buttery and garlic-y.
Love it.
Then, after all that food and drink, it was finally time to get lost in the blue maze
that is Jodhpur (जोधपुर).
It is all blue.
So now it is time to answer the million dollar question.
Why is Jodhpur (जोधपुर) painted blue?
I actually had to google this one.
And no one really knows the answer.
There seems to be a whole bunch of different reasons.
The most likely is that the color blue kind of deflects light so it keeps the homes cool
during the summer months.
And also it is believed that um a lot of Brahman followers of Lord Shiva used to live in Jodhpur
(जोधपुर) so maybe that is why they decided to paint everything blue.
But really it is a mystery.
There was no definitive answer.
So yeah, either way it looks pretty cool.
Blue is a nice color.
Hi little pup.
Are you sleeping on a motorcycle?
It looks like you are sleeping on a motorcycle and you know what?
Earlier today I saw a pup sleeping in a tuk-tuk.
Are you friends?
Or are you the same pup?
Oh you're cute.
You have big silly ears.
Big silly ears.
Alright Sam.
Sam Sam the man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
First off all want to show us your new shirt?
Oh yeah, love this new shirt.
Got this in Jaisalmer.
And I actually saw the artist like while he was painting.
Yeah, it is hand painted.
It is incredible.
So cool.
So cool.
Anyways back on top.
We're going out for dinner.
We're hungry.
We're going out for food.
We ate at this place called Jhankar for lunch.
Jhankar in Jodhpur (जोधपुर).
Oh, it was so good Actually it was one of the best meals we've had in India so far.
Yeah.
So we are heading back there for dinner.
And it is all about Thali (थाली) tonight.
We are going to get an original Thali (थाली) and a Rajasthani Thali (राजस्थानी
खाना).
Because we are in Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ) and they have a special
Thali so we can't wait to try that out.
Now it is off to find a little tuk-tuk.
Alright, lead the way.
Lead the way.
Tuk-tuk-y adventure!
Tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk.
We made friends with the Japanese guy who we were in Jaisalmer and he called them tuk-tukies.
So that is what we call them to now.
Tukie-tukies.
Confession time.
We already had lunch here and the food was so amazing that we've told the waiter right
away we're coming back for dinner.
So we decided to come and sample um local Thali (थाली).
Rajasthani Thali.
So that is what we've ordered.
And also one thing I should mention this restaurant is run by a Jain family.
So that means they are vegetarian and they don't eat any egg products.
So yeah, we're going to be having a vegetarian meal today.
Which is pretty cool.
And apparently 70% of Rajasthan (राजस्थान ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ) is vegetarian so the
majority of the population do not eat meat.
Which is pretty interesting.
Come let's be friends.
Meow meows.
Come kitty.
Meow meows.
So we have found a kitty and we're trying to lure him over.
There are not many cats in India.
You know this is the first cat we've seen.
Yeah, maybe it is.
We've seen monkeys, we've seen cows, we've seen tonnes of dogs.
But not a lot of cats.
And I think this one is a pet.
It is hanging out in the restaurant but it is a little skittish.
It is a little shy.
It is not coming quite close enough for us to pet.
And now it left.
It is gone.
There it goes.
Bye cat.
Shizzam.
The food has arrived.
So they brought us over these two giants platters.
And oh my goodness it is way bigger than I was expecting.
Oh yeah.
I don't know how Sam and I are going to eat all of this.
It looks absolutely incredible.
And we also got free desserts.
So we've got our work cut out for us.
So first up I'll show you my platter.
I'm having the Rajasthani Thali set.
So again it is vegetarian so lots of vegetable options going on.
We've got some biryani rice, some mystery thick rice, some ghee which is kind of like
curd or yoghurt.
I think it is called ghee.
Um, some more veggies with uh it looks like it has cashews.
Cashew nuts.
You know what I think we're just going to have to try it because I don't even know what
I'm looking at right now.
Yeah, they didn't list it on the menu.
Yeah, so this is all a big surprise.
Just dip it in.
Break off a piece of bread.
Oh, this looks like again all vegetable here.
It is a vegetarian restaurant.
I keep forgetting that.
Mmm.
How is that?
Mmmm.
What is it?
This one reminds me of dal.
Like a really spicy dal.
Spicy huh?
Lentil base.
This one right here.
My throat is on fire.
Haha.
Are you going to have some more of that?
Urrghh.
My throat is on fire.
No.
No.
Okay moving on.
Biryani with cauliflower.
This is something we had for lunch.
Oh, it was amazing.
Tomatoes.
Green peas.
It is just so colorful.
Like the way that they this is some of the best biryani.
I would say it is the best vegetarian biryani rice I've ever had.
Yeah.
That is good.
Okay Sam.
And you have the he called it a Jimbo.
A jumbo thali.
I think this is a bit more of a classic Thali.
So I'm just going to try everything.
So I'll start off over here.
Oh that looks good.
I think there is cheese on the outside.
Look at that.
Oh wow.
With curd.
Oh my gosh that looks so good.
I want some of that.
Oooh.
Oooh.
That is some wonderful curry.
It has got a bit of a tomato base.
But really thick spicy, creamy.
Oh my gosh.
All the good things in life.
All the good things in life.
That is just amazing.
And there is also chunks of the cottage cheese.
I'm going in for another one.
That was just so good.
Another bite of the same thing.
Oh yeah.
That is when you know it is good.
So that is a wrap from Jodhpur (जोधपुर).
So we had a really good time in the Blue City.
Um, it was only two days but I felt like we did quite a bit.
Did you enjoy it?
Yeah, the fort (मेहरानगढ़ का दुर्ग) was magnificent and
the blue city was all it was supposed to be.
Yes, so now we're moving on to Jaipur.
We're just waiting at the train station.
So we're going to catch our train.
It is about a 6 hour journey.
So relatively not too long but uh yeah can't wait to update you when we get there.
Ciao for now.
Ciao.

6 Mistakes I've Made On The Spiritual Path - Duration: 7:30.
6 Mistakes Ive Made On The Spiritual Path
By Dylan Harper
Yes, I know, there are no mistakes on the spiritual journey.
There cant be, if you think about it.
The spiritual journey is, to a certain extent, a process of learning.
And dont we almost always learn best from what we often see as our mistakes?
But then, if we learn from them, if we grow from them, how could they really be mistakes?
As you venture down the spiritual path, you really start seeing your life as a long curriculum
in a giant classroom called Life.
No mistakes.
Just your individual assignments.
I have had my lessons to learn, my conditioning to undo.
That said, here are 6 things that I would have previously called mistakes.
For me, they werent.
But maybe you will see something in them that will help you as you journey down the path.
1.
You cannot choose love too often.
So many times along the path, Ive been given the opportunity to choose love or fear.
Many, many times I chose fear.
I pushed people and things away to avoid loving them.
I suffered, to be sure, and Life graciously came back and offered the lesson again and
again.
Im very glad it did.
Choose love.
2.
You cant sit too much.
I loved meditating when I first started, but I loved reading about and talking about spirituality
more.
And reading and talking about spirituality, while they can be helpful, just doesnt
cut the mustard.
Spirituality must be lived, it must be experienced.
Sitting with yourself, finding out what you really are is so incredibly important and
transformative.
3.
Not enough time spent in nature.
For centuries, spiritual masters have made references to nature, to time spent in nature,
as a part of their journey.
There is something about the trees, the rocks, the plants, the sky, the sun that calls to
us.
Being in nature is a powerful aid to our spiritual growth.
Taking a walk in the pines will do more for you than a library full of books.
4.
Being arrogant about my beliefs.
I was a jerk in the early days of my journey.
I was cocky, overly confident, and thought I knew it all.
What a joke!
The real truth of the matter is that I knew so little.
By being so cocky, I rejected a lot of interesting and potentially helpful spiritual teachings
along the way.
I had to learn humility, almost by force.
Im truly grateful I did, because now I see so clearly how all the things I thought
I knew were an obstacle of sorts to knowing the only thing that mattered: who I truly
am.
5.
Believing that feelings are reliable guides to behavior and truth.
Ive made lots of choices in life based upon how I feel, which is not a great idea,
Ive come to see.
Feelings are just feelings.
They are simply sensations in our bodies in response to our thoughts.
They have something to teach us, for certain, but they arent the truth.
For instance, every time youve experienced anxiety, you are afraid of something that
is only in your mind.
But you arent in eminent danger, and you arent going to die.
Thus, anxiety is a poor guide for action.
The only thing to do with feelings is to experience them and then let them go.
Feelings want to be felt.
Let the energy flow.
As Hale Dwoskin of the Sedona Method likes to say: Feelings are not true, they are
not you, and you can let them go.
6.
Rejecting spiritual teachings before giving them a chance.
This goes along with number 4 above.
For instance, I hated The Secret when I first saw it.
I was very agitated after watching it because I had a strong reaction to some of the personalities
in it.
They seemed so arrogant and, well, like used car salesmen.
And so I rejected all the ideas in The Secret.
Of course, I was being as arrogant as they seemed to be.
There are good ideas in The Secret, and had I listened to some of them, I might have found
a way to learn some lessons that I took over a year to learn the hard way.
Ive found over the years that one of the best ways to learn and grow is from hearing
other peoples stories, their successes and mistakes along the spiritual path.
I would love to hear of your mistakes in the comments.

13 Reasons Why: Responsibilities in Writing Mental Illness and Depression - Duration: 13:28.
I had a different video scheduled for this week, but I moved it because I needed to make
this video and I didn't think it was a good idea to wait.
I wasn't sure I was going to watch 13 Reasons Why because I'd heard mixed reviews and
I have had a lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression.
Even very well done examples of mental illness in fiction have sometimes triggered very dangerous
thoughts or negative spirals in my head, so I was cautious about whether watching was
a healthy decision for me.
However, I think my long term experience with depression and bullying, a literal decade
of therapy, and lots of practice with coping mechanisms actually put me in a much better
place to watch this show than I would have been even five years ago.
Which is great for me, but I'm 22.
This show, and the book it is based on, are not aimed at me now, but instead the me of
five years ago.
16 or 17 year old me, who was a lot less self aware and a lot more vulnerable and lonely.
And for all the things I liked about the show, and despite or maybe especially because of
how heartbreakingly well the cast performed their roles—ever since I finished the series
this morning, I've been left with a heavy and uncomfortable feeling in my heart.
A deep and nagging fear for not only the characters left behind, but for teens like them watching
at home.
If you are not aware, 13 Reasons Why is a Netflix show based on a young adult book by
the same name, about a boy named Clay who receives a box of tapes recorded by his friend,
Hannah, who committed suicide a few weeks earlier.
The recordings on the tapes, 13 in all, are each about a person Hannah blames for why
she killed herself.
The story follows Clay's process and journey in listening to them.
I liked several things about the show.
I felt it was brilliantly cast and acted, the soundtrack absolutely breathtaking, and
I even felt it dealt with the consequences of bullying, slut shaming, and rape culture
pretty well.
But for a show whose entire premise is based on suicide, it's portrayal of mental illness
and treatment options—or more importantly, lack there of—was incredibly alarming.
I wanted to make this video to talk about those issues, partially because of how desperately
they need to be addressed and partially because I felt doing so would be a good example on
how to write depression or mental illness in fiction and the consequences
of doing it wrong.
The narrative shows the build up to Hannah's suicide in flashbacks narrated by her tapes
contrasted against Clay's experience and decisions influenced by listening to them
in the present.
Clay has a very difficult time listening, he spaces the tapes out over several days
because each one renews his grief and only worsens his desire to see her again.
Hannah starts the first tape by saying that if you've been sent the tapes—if you're
listening, you're one of the reasons why.
Clay starts to unravel as he listens and waits to get to his tape, each reason getting progressively
worse.
He has to relive moments he let her down in other character's tapes over and over again,
gaining a new perspective secondhand now that it's too late to save her.
It's clear that Clay (as well as many other people who've already had their turn with
the tapes) blames himself for Hannah's death.
He starts to act out and seek his own revenge against the people who did Hannah wrong.
He stays out until all hours of the night, hallucinates at school, feels increasingly
hopeless and worthless.
At one point he has a breakdown in the middle of the school day, literally screaming in
a crowded hallway that "Everyone's so nice until they drive you to kill yourself!"
and nothing is done about this.
Nothing at all.
The scariest part about watching this for me wasn't knowing that there was nothing
that was going to save Hannah from her fate no matter how hard Clay or the viewer wished
otherwise, but seeing the same symptoms and warning signs ignored in the classmates that
she left behind.
This show had 13 hours of build up to graphic and heartbreaking suicide, but didn't dedicate
any of it to pointing out the warning signs or how to reach out to someone if you feel
this way or how to seek help if you see these symptoms in others.
The message seems to be if only people were nicer to Hannah, she'd still be alive.
This is very clearly not true and is even proven otherwise within the show itself.
Two other characters attempt suicide in the show, including Clay, and both do so because
of regret, hopelessness, and blame they feel worsened by their guilt of what they did or
couldn't do for Hannah.
"Worsened by" being the key words here.
Bullying is certainly a catalyst for depression, but it is rarely ever the sole cause for suicide
without any sort of underlying mental illness.
From the first episode we know that Hannah only had one friend when she moved to town,
who immediately moves away.
Her parents have financial problems and are distracted from her by their responsibilities
managing their local drugstore.
She's lonely and hoping for a kind connection alone amongst a sea of classmates who have
grown up together and have no real need to seek out additional friendships.
That is all true before the events of her first reason ever come into play.
The same is true of the other boy who harms himself, immediately characterized as new,
isolated, disappointed with his grades, and under the eye of a strict father from his
very first introduction.
And Clay is also immediately characterized as a quiet nerd who has social anxiety, especially
around girls.
He repeatedly second guesses, chickens out, and blames himself for conversational and
even just situational social mistakes.
This is all characterized in flashbacks of him from before she killed herself, way before
he ever listened to any of the tapes.
13 people are blamed on the tapes, but it's just these three characters that progress
to suicidal ideation despite other characters inflicting or experiencing worse circumstances.
A third character ends the show not aiming to harm himself but instead plotting what
looks to be a potential school shooting, but this is characterized as yet another example
of the consequences of bullying.
Bullying and apathy are the only factors blamed for Hannah's suicide.
Not all suicides are caused by mental illness, but it is a factor in 90% of suicide deaths.
Even if Hannah's death alone was solely caused by bullying, which I highly doubt,
it's incredibly unlikely not to be a factor in at least one of the other two.
Regardless of the cause of these suicidal thoughts, the show's biggest and most dangerous
problem is how consistently it fails to address or help these students.
None of the parents or teachers in the show do anything about the downward spiral of these
kids.
Clay literally screams about kids driving others to suicide in the middle of a hallway,
confronts a teacher directly about no one reaching out or attempting to help Hannah
when she felt like life was hopeless, told multiple people that listening to the tapes
was starting to make him feel how Hannah felt, and point blank told his guidance counselor
that he almost threw himself off a cliff two days earlier and NO ONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT
THIS AT ANY POINT.
Even his parents, who have a discussion between the two of them about their fears that their
son might be suicidal, don't seek any additional help when Clay repeatedly acts out, stays
out at all hours of the night, vandalizes a classmates car, is caught with drugs at
school, and repeatedly comes home either drunk or beat to a pulp.
They bounce back and forth between whether or not to discipline him for his increasingly
out of character actions, but never seek additional advice or external resources even when he
confesses that he did know Hannah—that he knew her very well actually, misses her a
lot, and feels useless because he couldn't save her.
It honestly baffles me how often and obviously these characters showed clear signs of needing
help and were consistently ignored.
I'm not surprised that no one was able to help Hannah in time, but it terrified me that
none of these adults learned from their mistakes.
I believe there is a responsibility when writing about depression and suicide to be very aware
of how your story might influence vulnerable readers, especially if you write for teenagers,
an extremely impressionable demographic in which suicide is the third leading cause of
death.
Even as an educated adult, I found myself jealous of the way Hannah was able to show
her tormentors how they hurt her in a way they couldn't brush aside.
I felt terrified of how I might have internalized her mindset as a teen, when I had no friends
and was constantly bullied, when I wondered everyday what the point was in going on.
I believe the best revenge is a life well lived, but I definitely didn't always believe
that.
When I was younger there were certainly times I wished I could just show the world how terrible
my bullies were, give them a taste I felt.
Hannah's story often feels less like a cautionary tale and instead like the perfect revenge
fantasy.
It makes killing yourself seem like a power move you can inflict upon others.
If you kill yourself, you can show everyone how they let you down.
I'm not seeking to censor 13 Reasons Why or advise people not to watch it, but I am
very concerned with letting people, especially teens, watch it alone.
I am very concerned with not talking about what it does well and what it very clearly
does wrong.
I am very concerned that this responsibility is pushed upon the viewer instead of shown
as counterpoints within the show itself.
None of my concerns are mine alone.
I've listed several articles and links in the description that feature other people's
worries and concerns.
These links even show that the production company consulted with suicide experts on
what they should and shouldn't do and then they didn't listen.
They were deliberately told not to show how Hannah committed suicide, because a scene
like that often serves as a tutorial and often a trigger to people close to the edge.
Most people are not aware of how to effectively slit your wrists, but the show gives an excruciatingly
clear example.
Overall, I'm so frustrated and disappointed with how 13 Reasons Why tackles mental illness
because the stigma on depression, suicide, and mental illness is still very toxic and
widespread and we NEED good representation.
Clay ends the show still fully blaming himself for Hannah's death.
He tells his counselor that he "cost a girl her life" because he was afraid to love
her, to which his counselor replies "You can't love someone back to life."
For all his failings, the counselor was right about that, so it broke may heart to hear
Clay reply, "You can try."
Bullying is toxic and terrible and you should always be kind, but kindness alone will not
and cannot save someone from depression or suicide.
It's incredibly dangerous to imply that suicide or depression itself can be prevented
or cured by loving someone enough.
That is a damaging mindset to inflict upon someone's loved ones, which is clearly illustrated
in the narrative.
If you see signs of depression in others, please reach out.
Keep an eye out for sadness or hopelessness, irritability or anger, a lack of motivation
or loss of interest in activities that use to bring them joy, withdrawal from friends
and family, a drop in school performance, a change in eating or sleeping habits—which
can range from overeating to completely forgetting to eat at all, from being tired all the time
to extreme insomnia.
There are more signs to watch out for, which I'll link to below, all of which are exhibited
by multiple characters in 13 Reason Why.
If you see these signs in others or even in yourself, it's important to make it clear
to this person that people care about them, that their worries matter, that there is support
out there.
If you are teens, it is crucial to seek out an adult's help.
They may be scared or cautious about speaking to authority figures, so you may need to have
a long and probably scary conversation to make it clear they have your support and that
they can trust you.
If you can't trust their parents or your own with this information, reach out to the
most qualified adult you can find.
Reach out until someone takes you seriously, even if it takes multiple tries.
People commit suicide because they feel worthless, isolated, like there's no way out or any
hope of anything getting better.
That's the scary thing about not confronting these thoughts the right way in media discussing
the same issues.
Depressed people often seek out fatalistic media because it's the only connection they
can really have when everything seems hopeless.
We want depressed people to come out of books or TV shows about suicidal characters empowered
with tools to help them advocate for themselves or others, not further confirmed that nothing
helps no matter what you do, that no one will listen if you reach out.
So please keep these ideas in mind and do serious research if attempting to write a
book with similar themes.
And talk openly, critically, and honestly about mental illness.
The only way it will stop being taboo, the only way for the right solutions to become
well known, is by talking about it.
That's one way in which the show has succeeded, because everyone is talking about it right
now.
It's too late for 13 Reasons Why to address their failings within the show, but it's
not to late to reach out an olive branch to vulnerable viewers.
Someone started a twitter campaign asking Netflix to list the suicide hotline number
before or after every episode of the show.
I think that's a great idea, I'll link it below.
Please let me know what you thought of the show in the comments below.
Thank you so much for watching this very long and spur of the moment video.
We'll be back to regularly scheduled writing advice next week.
I'll see you soon.
Bye.

A propòsit d'Europa - Ciutat-museu - Duration: 8:45.
Located in the north of France and with a population of over 2 million...
Paris is one of the most prestigious cities worldwide.
The French capital projects itself to the rest of the world...
with the Eiffel Tower, which has become the city's symbol...
an icon and, at the same time, part of the country's brand.
Today, it's a top tourist destination with millions of visitors every year.
The people of Paris coexist with a city model...
where, even though the cultural heritage is immeasurable already,
new and bold cultural content has to be generated constantly.
Chapter I. MUSEUM CITY
Not that expensive.
New York is more expensive.
It's expensive... yes.
I think after London...
It is the most expensive city in Europe.
Expensive.
The rent: for 10 meters-square
I pay 500€
Besides being the capital of one of the most important European states...
Paris receives a great number of visitors on a constant basis.
Besides the high amount of domestic visitors...
Paris receives millions of tourists from abroad.
The French city has inherited many elements...
from different cultural fields: art, history, philosophy....
but, as always, it ends up needing to generate new drawcards.
As a consequence...
there is a romantic city model...
reminiscent of an identity that still remains...
that opposes a modern style that Parisians like.
The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles, the Bastille, Napoleon or Robespierre...
are all worshiped elements from the past...
that have to be preserved.
Simultaneously, the city generates new elements...
such as the Pompidou or the film industry...
which create the right atmosphere...
for avant-garde cultural content to appear.
As a result, Paris offers tourists...
an extreme amount of cultural elements.
And a big part of the city's resources fund that constant creation.
However, it's true that when travelling to "museum cities"...
the contrasts within are still apparent.
In this case, Paris' stock market...
and its financial district, known as La Défense...
somehow portray, with their big screens and skyscrapers...
an excellent economic strength.
We could say that...
the country's concern for a stable economy...
makes France a sort of European barometer.
On the other side, we find the vast outskirts of the city.
Paris is one of Europe's wealthiest cities.
Its income per capita is higher than the European average...
and it is one of the highest on a global scale.
That fact has many consequences on Parisians.
On the one hand, it creates a salary division between classes...
that has to be compensated through social measures...
such as concessions for people under 27...
for students and for the elderly...
for public services and culture.
It can also be seen that this economic inequality between countries...
can bring about different perspectives on the euro's worth.
Is 1 euro the same here as it is in Germany?
Of course it is, but the countries' economic policies are different.
For example, if you go to a country with a higher VAT...
or whatever that tax is called in that country...
Obviously, products in that country...
will be more expensive than they are in Spain, for instance.
It's clear, there is a price difference.
Just like the personal income tax and all that...
In the end, all those things...
end up...
changing the selling price.
And that marks the difference between a German and a Spanish euro.
But, if in people's minds a Spanish euro isn't like a German euro...
then that implies the failure of the EU...
as an institution.
In Paris, for example, the gap between social classes is very big.
Obviously, in cosmopolitan cities there are...
districts where there is a lot of money...
loads of money...
and also districts where people struggle to make ends meet.
But of course, unemployment in Paris... if you were looking for a job...
you could find one.
Now, Valencia's metro, I can say it's very expensive...
and the service it offers is very limited.
But, being used to Paris' metro...
which is very expensive too...
A pass equivalent for the A zone in Valencia...
for what we would call...
the city center...
costs...
67 euros...
per month.
But being young and all that, you can take...
the bus and the metro...
and something called...
RER which are commuter trains.
On weekends, for minors...
well, like the Youth Card here.
You can go to Versailles...
you can go to...
Disneyland.
You can visit...
places...
which seem far away.
And you travel for free, on weekends.
While culture sometimes generates identity...
it can also be a tool for economic power.
Generally, culture arises from...
the need to break away from the establishment...
and it requires a subsequent narrative.
When we talk about a museum city...
we're talking about a type of city that revolves around that narrative...
also known as...
spectacle.
For centuries, it has served as a drawcard for tourists.
But, what is the key to this success?
In Paris, the main themes that have been highlighted are...
passion and the foundations of modern European culture.
Values like reason and love are very appealing...
but there's more.
There´s the way the city is laid out, the architecture...
the museums, and everything that can be commodified...
serve as substitute satisfactions for the drives of the modern subject...
that is used to mass culture.
Thus, elements like La Gioconda or the Arch de Triomphe...
are the goals of the millions of people...
who visit the city...
to find happiness.
"Paris, first touristic destination in the world"

2 Former Obama Officials Just Revealed Obama's Disturbing Secret That Has Tormented Them For Years - Duration: 14:41.
2 Former Obama Officials Just Revealed Obama's Disturbing Secret That Has Tormented Them
For Years
In a huge break from political tradition two Barack Hussein Obama officials came out this
week to criticize their former boss.
And to give
kudos to President Donald Trump's leadership in dealing with Syria.
Former National Obama National Security Official, Barry Pavel went on to state;
"In Syria, a major mistake was treating it like a humanitarian crisis, when it was
a major national security crisis that has caused
destabilization of our closest allies in Europe.
Syria has been a source of terrorist attacks in Europe and the United States and future
attacks.
I worry about that very much"
"Because they knew that the Obama administration would never use military force for any purpose,
they felt free to conduct their coercive
actions in the South China Seas, the Russians went into Iran and Syria and North Korea accelerated
their nuclear arms program.
I think the
Trump administration is putting the world on notice.
The U.S. can use military force to achieve particular goals without getting mired in
a
protracted conflict"
Gary Samora, Obama's weapons of mass destruction coordinator, went on to add;
"Obama was too hesitant and too guided by a belief that dialogue was the way to deal
with rogue leaders.
I applaud Trump.
It was the kind of
strike that Obama was planning — a limited military attack against the airfields in order
to deter Assad from carrying out additional chemical
weapons attacks, but he decided not to use it.
Obama made a huge mistake by saying he was going to go to Congress for authorization,
it turned
out he did not have the votes.
Trump was very smart to do it without congressional support"
This folks is what those of us with a functioning IQ of over 80 have been saying since day one
of the President Barack Hussein Obama
Administration.
When the President of the United State of America starts his administration with an
apology tour things won't end well in the
world.
When America is weak every two-bit murdering dictator scumbag in the world gets out of
line.
I'm all too familiar with the fact we, as a
nation, are broke.
But we also can't afford to let the world's criminals run amuck.
We tried that for the first part of World War 2 and 11
million innocent souls lost their lives because of it.
I'm all too familiar with the fact we, as a nation, are broke.
But we also can't afford to let the world's criminals run amuck.
We tried this
for the first part of World War 2 and 11 million innocent souls lost their lives because of
it.
We are the most generous and kind nation ever known to man.
We liberated the French when our brave young men descended on the beaches of
Normandy, France on D-Day.
All we asked for as payment was a place to bury our dead.
No other nation in history has ever done that.
The Cold War wasn't won by sending Mikael Gorbachev an apology.
President Ronald Reagan stood his ground and didn't put up with any shenanigans
from the Soviet Union.
At The Reykjavik Summit, President Reagan even went as far as walking out of the meeting
when Gorbachev started altering
the deal to benefit the now-defunct Soviet Union.
Although the left accused President Reagan of trying to start the World War 3 and of
being a terrorist, he won the Cold War without ever firing
a shot.
His famous "Peace Through Strength" motto worked.
Today we once again have a real leader.
One who believes in Peace Through Strength and isn't afraid to use it.
And we stand behind you all the way President Trump!
Go get'em!
Pic Of What Trump Wrote On Girl's Easter Card Gets Out And Everyone Immediately Notices
One BIG Detail
President Lyndon B. Johnson is credited with saying:
"Being President is like being a jackass in a hailstorm; there's nothing to do but
to stand there and take it."
It's somewhat of a never-ending, thankless job in many ways.
We're not talking about a 9-5 situation here, this is the free world he's running,
he works from the moment his eyes pop open till he falls asleep at night.
The President has to be on duty as long as the sun is shining
somewhere.
It's the same way with our United States Military and a good Commander in Chief knows
that you lead by example.
That's one reason that the traditional "fun" events can be such a great reprieve for a
President.
The White House Easter Egg Roll is one such
event.
There are tickets given out to local schools, White House employees, and military personnel
to come to the fun filled afternoon on the
White House lawn.
The President, First Lady, and son Barron were out to join in on some of the fun events,
and the President was signing cards.
What he wrote on
one of those cards shows what he truly cares about.
"President Donald Trump wrote a simple and poignant Easter message to an anonymous soldier
Monday, praising the military member's bravery and
lauding the 'great job' being done.
The message went out during Monday's Annual White House Easter Egg Roll – the first
for Trump – as the president, first lady Melania Trump and
their son Barron sat a picnic table with children to color cards to be sent to U.S. service
members.
Grabbing a big Crayola marker from a box on the table, the president began to write, then
asking the children to see what he had written, and
turning the card around for the audience.
'Dear Brave Soldier,' the president's message read.
'Thank you for your service.
Great Job!
Donald Trump.'"
Newsmax wasn't the only site to pick up this story.
They made such an excellent point about how this President has not only put some dignity
back into being in the military, but he's also putting them in action, which is something
that he can't take lightly.
Via Red State:
"The note also included the bunny rabbit and flowers that were on the paper.
Trump's note comes just weeks after he authorized the military to use the 'Mother Of All Bombs'
on ISIS and ordered tomahawk missile strikes
against the Assad regime in Syria after it was revealed that he used chemical weapons
on his own people.
These personal notes are very meaningful in that many active duty soldiers are not able
to be home with their families on Easter, and receiving
personal letters from home — including one from the president — serves as an important
reminder that we all appreciate their sacrifices."
This may not seem like a lot to those of us not serving our country and putting our lives
on the line every time duty calls.
But after 8 years
of shame and cowardice infesting the oval office and spilling out into every branch
of the military, a firm hand and grateful spirit is just
what the doctor (and American people) ordered.
It's about time we give those risking their lives for us a leader that they can look up
to.
It's long been said, and proven, that a house divided against itself cannot stand,
and the military was so very much at odds with the former
administration.
Many American's weren't at all sure that he wasn't just a mole for some other country
looking to destroy us from the inside
out.
At the very best he was a brainwashed puppet who's end result would have been destruction
just the same if he'd been in power much longer.
Thankfully, that time is past, and America rallied around someone who knows what it's
like to have discipline, success and stand up for what is
right.
It's amazing what a little bit of backbone will do for the morale of those in your command.
We elected him to be the Commander in Chief
of the armed forces, and he's doing just that.
He's asking them to put themselves in harm's way and he wants them to know that he's
proud of
the elite fighting force that they are and thankful for the orders they take.
That's what makes a great President.
Not the color of his skin, and certainly not community organizing.

CNN Just Got OWNED On Live TV With What Appeared On Screen That They Didn't Know Was There
I wonder when CNN will finally pack it in and admit that they are useless?
I don't think it will happen anytime soon, even though we all know
they terrible.
But, I always cheer when someone calls these shysters out in public.
Which is exactly what happened on Monday when a young man
called out the Clinton News Network on live television.
We do not the name of this kid, but in my opinion, he is a true hero.
The video shows one CNN anchor and Jim Acosta speaking about Vice
President Mike Pence being South Korea.
The camera begins to pan the crowd at the White House annual Easter Egg Roll event.
That is when you
see a young man pop up into the frame of the camera.
There are no microphones so you really can't hear what the young lad is saying.
However, if you can read lips it appears he is mouthing "fake
news".
Here check it out and let us know what you think he is saying.
There are, of course, people that are saying that the young man is shouting "f**k you,"
but that doesn't make any sense.
If you notice when he
mouths the words he throws up an "X" with his arms.
If you ask me, that does not jive with him saying "f**k you at all.
I am sure we can think
of a better hand gesture to go with "F-you", right?
It is worth noting that Trump and Acosta have had a feud in the past if you remember.
Back in January, when Trump was holding a press conference he and Acosta had quite the
heated exchange.
Which lead Trump to tell Acosta "your
organization is terrible."
Acosta then continued to interrupt other journalists which prompted Trump to silence Acosta.
Finally, when the president had enough, he said,
"No, I'm not going to give you a question.
You are fake news!"
So, let's be realistic.
It is quite possible that this kid knew about this event and decided to make his mark in
the world.
But, this could not come at a better time either.
Over the weekend Donald Trump Jr. also did an epic troll when he wore a "Fake News"
tee shirt on Twitter.
The caption read " I'm going to buy
5-10,000 of these to pass around to our buddies in the #MSM.
In the meantime, I'll model it for them."
Of course, the liberals lost their minds and called Trump Jr. every name in the book, but
that is the liberal way.
I am actually quite
surprised that these hateful liberals have shown so much restraint towards this child.
But, they could just be waiting to see what this kid was saying still, right?
Now, yes it is hard to tell what he is mouthing, but considering how the phrase "fake news"
has dominated the airwaves lately, it is quite
possible.
I have a teenage daughter myself who understand this phrase since she has seen it and read
it many times.
Either way, it is pretty funny to witness CNN getting trolled this hard lately.
Only time will tell what this kiddo was saying, but if I were a
gambling woman I would put my money on "fake news".
What do you think he was saying?

Look What Happened To Marine Amputee Right After He Crossed Finish Line At Boston Marathon
With Flag In Hand
All eyes were on Boston yesterday and its annual marathon.
Runners from around the country gather every year to run this particular marathon.
This race is special since many athletes need to qualify in order to run in this marathon.
Also, it has now become a place of remembrance after
the horrific bombings in 2013.
However, yesterday something very special happened during, and it was all caught on
camera.
It was a beautiful spring day in Boston for a marathon.
It was warm and sunny and the marathon went along without any issues.
Though at the
closing moments of the race a scene took place that shook everyone to the core.
Earl Granville is a nine-year-veteran under the Pennsylvania Guard.
Granville lost part of his leg in 2008 when his vehicle was hit by a
roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
Granville was fitted with a prosthetic leg and never let this injury hold him back from
life.
Following his
injury, Granville has competed in several marathons, including Boston, Chicago, and
Detroit.
So, Granville decided to run in the Boston Marathon yesterday with the American flag
he loves so much.
As the race was beginning to finish up
Granville noticed a woman struggling towards the finish line.
The woman was injured from running the race and Granville knew she needed help.
Staying true to the hero that Granville is, he scooped her up and ran with her over the
finish the line.
Granville never dropped the flag or
the woman, and they finished the race together.
He was determined not to leave anyone behind which is ingrained in many of our nation's
hero's.
Watch the touching moment here.
After crossing the finish line the woman could not stop hugging the hero and we cannot blame
her at all.
This man is the epitome of what a hero
and real strength look like.
Granville's action, of course, inspired so many people, but he does not see it that
way.
I don't know what they're inspired about," Granville said in a Facebook Live broadcast
at mile 16.
"I'm walking."
His moving finish may be the reason why many were inspired, as many took to social media
to congratulate the veteran.
"Thanks to Earl Granville
for showing the Boston Marathon what veterans of the Pennsylvania National Guard can do,"
Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors said on Facebook.
With all the tragedy and stress that we have endured over the last several years, this
is just what we all needed to see.
This sort of grit and
determination is what our country was founded on.
For so long, we have been kicked around that to see this beautiful image is truly inspiring.
What Granville did yesterday is exactly why we
treasure our military men and women.
Their sacrifice and courage should inspire us all.
Thank you, Earl Granville, for your service and for what you did yesterday.
Your actions are truly inspiring and remind us all of what our
country is about.
Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Thanks for watching guys, if you did like this please give us a big thumbs up and if you haven't done so already - hit that subscribe button
And me and Rags - we'll see you next week
Won't we puppet?

Ciao.

Pińczowski Sztetl - Duration: 7:24.
Shtetl of Pinczow
Pinczow is a small Town, situated in świętokrzyskie region on the picturesqe Ponidzie on the River Nida.
Its development has been connected with the quarry, Datong back to the year 1241
The king Władysław Jagiełło recognized Pińczow as a legal submunicipality on 21 September 1428 in the Castel in Lublin.
Fast development of the town was possible owing to the influx of people
from different parts of the World –Italians, Scotts, French, Germans and predominantly Jews.
According to some records Jews had already lived in Pinczów during the reign of Kasimir the Great.
Even the king himself gave them a plot of land for the first synagogue,
and a legendary Esterka founded the chair of the prophet Elijah for the temple,
which was indispensable during the ceremony of circumcision.
The first official information about Jews from Pinczów is the record of figures from 1576.
Owners of the city were friendly towards the people who professed the faith of Moses.
Zygmunt Myszkowski conferred upon them an economic privilege.
They also received the right for settlement in Pinczów as wll as erection of the synagogue, the house of prayers or the house for rabbi.
The Old Synagogue is unfortunately the only remaining evidence of Jews in Pińczów,
It was erected in the years 1594-1609, and its designer was probably Santi Gucci –Italin, who lived here.
Who is also the author of St. Anne's chapel, one of the pen's business cards.
During the World War II Germans devastated the interior of the Synagogue, and bombings completely ruined the building.
Fortunately in the seventies of the 20 th century the temple was renovated.
Currently, the Regional Museum in Pinczów looks to the synangogue.
At the exhibition Judaica and photos of Jan Górecki are presented.
One of the most interesting exhibits is the scroll of Tora from the19th century, which was hidden in the wall for many centuries.
One can admire the remnants of paintings on the walls and inscriptions in Hebrew language.
Another thing that attracts attention is the 17th century Aron ha-kodesz, referring to that one in Lwow Synagogue of Golden Rose.
When Myszkowscy lived a large number of Jews and Christians settled down in Pińczow.
At that time the town became one of the biggest in the region.
Also, Jewish parliament sat there three times.
Crowns. The position of Jewish community was significant as in the years 1673, 1674 and 1681 sessions of the parliament of Four Lands were held in Pińczów.
According to J. Tambor 'During the interwar period Jews were 60% of the whole population, and created the world with their own language,
religion and customs, the world of people with side curls, dressed in skullcaps and gabardines.
Jews lived on the area around the market, along Krakowska street as well as the territory around the synagogue.'
They were mainly shopkeepers and craftsmen. '(…) Jewish shops, cramped hovels full of cupboards,
chests and a pile of various goods, ranging from herrings in a barrel to oil and grease for wagons (…)
These shops had an advantage – one could find there anything.'
Every Tuesday a fair took place in the market. On that day tradesmen ( also from surrounding villages and towns ) arrived to display their goods.
In 1931 a delegation of Jews from Pińczów attended the Jewish Congress in Basel, two years later in Prague.
In the thirties there were numerous incidents of anti-Semitic conduct incited by various activists not only in Pinczów and other towns in Poland, but also across Europe.
' As a consequence of this phenomenon (…) hostile attitudes towards Jews appeared among catholic communities. Children wrote on school desks 'Jews go away!'
In 1939 World War II broke out and put an end to the development of such towns as Pińczów.
A ghetto came into being where 3000 Jews were closed and forced to work, they often cut peat and received a small portions of food in return.
In October 1942 transportations to concentration camps in Treblinka began.
Some Jews attempted to seek shelter in surrounding villages, but majority of them were murdered.
The synagogue in Pinczów is surrounded by the wall, inside which remnants of old Jewish grave stones have been placed.
They are discovered during renovations of buildings.
They are a particular Statue of Memory about the holocaust of Jews from Pińczów.
This place has an atmosphere of authenticity, and it is worth visiting.
The Regional Museum in Pińczów and its director Jerzy Znojek takes care of remaining monuments very well and does not allow to forget the history of the town.
Pińczów is regularly visited by Jewish descendants who were related to them.
There is a specific atmosphere here, yet it is beautiful in a way.
Pińczów is really worth visiting. But above all, it is worth getting to know its history.

there is a romantic city model...
reminiscent of an identity that still remains...
that opposes a modern style that Parisians like.

Three Little Kittens
They lost their mittens
And they began to cry
Oh mother dear we sadly fear
That we have lost our mittens
What!
Lost your mittens
You naughty kittens
Then you shall have no pie
Meow, meow, meow, meow
Then you shall have no pie
Three Little Kittens
They lost their mittens
And they began to cry
Oh mother dear we sadly fear
That we have lost our mittens
What!
Lost your mittens
You naughty kittens
Then you shall have no pie
Meow, meow, meow, meow
Then you shall have no pie
Three little kittens
They found their mittens
And they began to cry
Oh mother dear
See hear see hear
That we have found our mittens
What!
Found your mittens You darling kittens
Then you shall have some pie
Meow, meow, meow, meow
Then you shall have some pie
