TRX vs Gymnastic Rings - Which is Better? - Duration: 7:45.

Gymnastic rings and TRX Suspension Trainer are both great pieces of equipment that let you train your whole body.

Both are compact and lightweight, so having either one of them in your backpack

is like having the whole gym with you everywhere you go.

However, in spite of being very similar, they also have a lot of crucial differences.

In this video I will tell you about pros and cons of each apparatus

and also share my opinion to help you determine which one is a better choice for you.

Gymnastic rings are as simple as it gets when it comes to its construction.

Two straps with a buckle and two wooden rings.

Due to their simplicity, they're practically indestructible

and can be considered a lifelong investment.

TRX has a little more complicated build, although still pretty straightforward.

The two rotatable handles are connected with a strap.

Another strap is used to attach it to a bar with a clip hook at the end of it.

There are also two buckles that control the length of the connecting strap.

The materials used are high quality and it certainly can be used for years without any damage.

However, because the handles are moveable there is a lot of friction generated in this joint.

In my old gym I've seen those straps almost cut through, but that's an effect of everyday,

all day use for months or years probably,

so as an individual user, there's nothing to worry about.

To conclude, both TRX and rings are practically a lifetime investment.

Both aparatuses are very small and compact, so they're perfect to travel with.

Their weight is similar as well, TRX weighing 850g (1.9 lbs)

and rings about 950g (2.1l bs).

I'm not reviewing any particular brand of rings,

but most of them cost between 30-50 US dollars.

TRX Suspension Trainer retails for 100 to 250 US

dollars depending on the type of the kit you choose.

There is a lot of cheaper knockoffs however,

with the prices ranging from 30 to 50 US dollars,

although I can't say anything about the quality as I've never used one.

Both TRX and rings are very quick and straightforward to set up.

It's also not very difficult to find proper hanging place for them,

as it doesn't even have to be perfectly horizontal.

Whether you're in the city or in the nature,

you should be ready to train after a few minutes of searching.

This is assuming that you use rings just as the TRX.

If you want to be able to hang from them, then it gets a little more difficult.

You're gonna need roughly horizontal element on a proper height.

Such place is harder find, but I never had any issue with it.

Unless you live in the middle of the desert you should be fine.

Let's now get to the most important aspect of this review – functionality.

TRX system is intended for training using only a part of your bodyweight.

It means that some part of your body is always sitting on the ground,

be it your feet or hands.

This is where TRX shines and outclasses the rings.

The rotatable handles work great in exercises like bicep curls,

tricep extensions or rollouts.

They are much more comfortable than rings,

where you either have to hold a false grip all the time or limit the range of motion.

Another great feature of the TRX are feet straps.

They allow you to put feet inside them and are much more comfortable and stable then rings.

Although there isn't a huge amount of exercises that requires your feet to be just above the ground,

the ones which do are much more convenient performed on the TRX.

The last aspect differentiating both apparatuses is the fact,

that TRX has connected grips.

This implicates a few things.

First, you don't have to adjust the length of the TRX precisely,

because after you put weight on it, the grips will level themselves.

Rings require a little more fiddling to get them to be equally long.

However this also implicates, that you are responsible for keeping the handles evenly throught the movement,

that can make exercises a little harder,

especially the ones that load the handles unequally.

Gymnastic rings let you do most of the same exercises that can be performed on the TRX,

they're just a little less convenient to do.

Up until now, the rings seem to get a slight beating from the TRX Suspension Trainer.

But that's about to change as it's time to talk about indermediate and advanced exercises.

TRX's functionality is basically limited to basic, functional exercises where,

as I mentioned earlier, you use only a certain portion of your bodyweight.

Gymnastic rings, on the other hand,

allow you to train with all your bodyweight supported on them as well.

They practically give you the functionality of a bar,

allowing you to do hanging exercises like muscle ups,

chin ups, levers, ab exercises and more.

On top of that, you can get your body above the rings and do all sorts of exercises

like dips, L-sits or handstands.

These exercises are great for developing strength

and learning how to control and stabilize your body.

Which is better then? Gymnastic rings or TRX?

You cannot really decide without determining who is going to be using it.

If you're a beginner, and your goals are just to get in shape,

develop some strength and build some muscles,

but you're not aspiring to become an intermediate or advanced athlete,

then TRX is a better choice.

It's easier to set up and more convenient to use for all the basic exercises,

but still allowing to get in a great shape.

On the other hand, if you are more serious about bodyweight training

and you want to take building your strength and skills to the next level,

then definitely go for the rings.

They allow you to train as a complete beginner, almost as well as TRX does,

but don't limit your ambitions when you get seriously hooked on bodyweight training.

5 million is any indication, then compareit4me's rivals should indeed think twice before pitting themselves against it- after all, since its launch in 2011, this enterprising startup has been able to raise a total of over $9 million so far, which is, by itself, a testament to how well this online comparison site is doing.

Its numbers are impressive: CFO Jonathan Rawling tells me that compareit4me has seen organic traffic rise by over 400% since January 2015, and since its Series A round in September 2015, its annual revenues have more than quadrupled, with 2017's revenue expected to be more than double that of 2016.

Another good sign of compareit4me's current state is how its backers keep returning to support the venture- its latest funding round sees the participation of existing investors STC Ventures, Wamda Capital, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Saned Partners, and the significance of this act isn't lost on Chehab and Richards.

"We don't take this for granted; we feel incredibly lucky that these guys are ready to support us on an ongoing basis," Richards says. "But this is not a charity.

They're supporting us because they've seen us grow, they've witnessed the growth since their original Series A funding, and they strongly believe in our plans for the future.".

"It's a great sign, and I think new investors want to see this as well," Chehab adds.

"It would be a pretty bad sign if your existing investors stopped taking part in rounds, so it's important for us to get these guys to come back in. It gives the right signals to new, incoming investors.".

And compareit4me certainly would like to see new names in its list of investors- the company is, after all, looking to close a Series B round of $10 million in the coming months.

"We're speaking to some really interesting investors- guys who can write really big checks, who can support us for the next few rounds if we need it," Chehab reveals.

"Not only this, but they will also be able to support us with guidance and contacts.". But getting funds in this round hasn't been smooth sailing, the cofounders note. "It's not easy," Chehab says.

"I think we're lucky that we've shown great growth. We've shown that we have a good understanding of the insurance market, and we've demonstrated an ability to execute.

Our insurance business has been growing 25% month-on-month, and, for the last three years, our revenue has doubled year-on-year. So, we're showing that we can execute.

I think 2016 was a hard year for lots of startups –particularly anyone trying to get ad revenue– but despite that, we managed to grow our revenue, so I think that pays testament to the strength of the business and the team.

Clearly, growing in a tough market, and launching new revenue streams, gives us the best possible chance of attracting new investors.

Perhaps our greatest advantage at the moment when raising money is that, in 2016, we generated twice as much revenue as our nearest competitor.".

Richards adds, "There's a lot of debate right now in the region on which round of investment is hardest in the region.

I personally think that Series B is one of the more challenging– there are significantly fewer investors in the Middle East who can write the $2 million to $5 million checks.

That being said, we've currently got five investors who are going through due diligence at the moment. And if just two or three of those decide to invest in us, then we'll be oversubscribed in our Series B.".

The future is thus looking bright for compareit4me, an enterprise that has evolved quite a bit since its early days- the company started off by offering a comparison tool for a range of banking products, like credit cards, personal loans, et al, grew its presence across the region, and then in 2016, it launched an online car insurance portal in the UAE, which is today selling $1.

5 million worth of insurance policies every month.

Given these figures, it shouldn't come as a surprise that compareit4me's recent raise will be used to fuel this growth further, which Richards and Chehab expect to reach $5 million per month by the end of this year.

"The plan for us now is to invest heavily in growing our market share with car insurance in the UAE- we want to aim to get to around 15% share of the UAE's car insurance market by the end of this year," Richards says.

"We're helping lots of people save time and money when buying insurance, and we know that if we keep investing, if we keep pushing, there's no reason why we shouldn't attain the growth that we expect this year.".

This particular tool is also set to be scaled across the region- Chehab notes that while compareit4me's banking comparison offering is live across the nine markets of the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan, its insurance platform is live only in the UAE, with the Kingdom being its next target market.

"We believe that Saudi Arabia will feature very heavily in the future of compareit4me," Chehab says.

"We have been in active, and very positive, talks with the regulator in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), and we're hopeful that we can go live in the next few months with car insurance comparison in the Kingdom.".

and most people use scotch tape but all I had was this tape so we're just going

to have to roll with it. So since you are the youngest I'm going to give you

the honors of being able to say the first word so you're going to kick off

this round. Kite, buy, cat, sad, dog, happy, animal, pen, chicken, emoji, emoji heart. Umm

I already said emoji so you can't say emoji heart that still has the word emoji in

it so Wow can't even rip tape. Ok, let's see here I'll start us off this round so

Weekly Thoughts: 1984 and Reality - Duration: 6:37.

Hey ya'll so today I wanted to talk about the book 1984 by George Orwell because I

recently finished reading it and it is-I really enjoyed it first of all and it

has a lot of really interesting topics that it brings up throughout the book

and the main one that really has stuck with me and I've been thinking about is

whether there is such a thing as objective reality or truth and if you

haven't read the book basically it's in 1984 and it's following like this one

guy he's a regular citizen it's in a dystopian world and there's the party

which rules over all of the citizens and kind of controls their reality and

there's a couple of ways that they sort of do that it shows itself how reality

can be altered through the way that people accept the lies that the party

presents us truth and this quote is talking about that so I'm going to read

that real quick "And if all others accepted the lie which the party imposed

if all records told the same tale then the lie passed into history and became

truth 'who controls the past,' ran the party slogan 'controls the future who

controls the present controls the past.'" so one of the ways that they're sort of

creating this new reality is by controlling all of the information and

all of the things that these people have access to. One of the other ways that the party

sort of controls you know their people and creates this sort of new reality is

through their language that they're creating called Newspeak and it hasn't

been established completely but it's slowly taking over and newspeak is

becoming the official language basically newspeak is the English language

simplified they're taking out a ton of words from the English language and just

reducing it so that each word only has a very specific and well-defined meaning

with no room for interpretation as I was reading you know

the book and stuff and reading about Newspeak it really struck me I mean this

may seem kind of obvious but it really struck me that the bigger vocabulary you

have the easier it is to express yourself and to describe things and if

you're better able to express yourself to other people you're going to have

better relationships because of communication and this really shows itself

in like younger kids because as I've been working this past week with the

kids one of the teachers told me sometimes kids that are acting out one

of the reasons could be because they don't know how to express themselves

they don't have the right words to explain what they're feeling inside like

they may be angry but they don't know that that feeling is called anger so

they will act out throw things whatever because they don't know how to say

what's going on inside and there's a section in the book that sort of touches

on that topic so I just want to read that really quick the person that the

main character is talking about is this girl that he's involved with. "Talking to

her he realized how easy it was to present an appearance of Orthodoxy while

having no grasp whatever of what Orthodoxy meant. In a way the worldview

of the party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of

understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of

reality because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of

them and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice

what was happening. By lack of understanding they remain sane they

simply swallowed everything and what they swallowed did them no harm because

it left no residue behind just as a grain of corn will pass

undigested through the body of a bird." By continuing to reduce the information and

understanding of the general public in the book they sort of kind of

eliminate even the possibility of revolt there's a section in the book that talks

about that it says, "The masses never revolt of their own

accord and they never revolt merely because they are oppressed

indeed so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison they

never even become aware that they are oppressed." And that sort of reminds me of

you know when I talked about in the weekly thoughts video about a

"comfortable prison cell" you know if all you've known is this terrible reality

and you have nothing to compare it to then I mean it won't seem so terrible or

what whatever because you don't know that it could be better it's like when

you're in that dark cave and it-all you've ever known is the darkness and

it's going to be so much better to be out in the light but you've never been

out there so you have nothing to compare the darkness to you don't think it's

dark in there because you've never been in the light. You may be quote unquote

"happier" in the dark you know not knowing that you are imprisoned but personally I

would much rather be in the light being able to see my chains you know it's so I

mean I guess everyone's their own person and stuff like that but it's-it's

something interesting to think about that your reality is shaped so much by

your surroundings and the things that other people say all the messages that

you're getting all of these things like all of these topics in this book can

relate to certain aspects of your life or wherever you are in the world and

things like that. I want to end on a couple of things first I want to read a

little paragraph that one of the characters is telling the main character

talking about the party and you know reality and things like that it just

really gets you to think so I'm going to read that real quick. "You believe that

reality is something objective external existing in its own right you also

believe that the nature of reality is self-evident. When you delude yourself

into thinking that you see something you assume that everyone else sees the same

thing as you but I tell you Winston that reality is not external reality exists

in the mind and nowhere else not in the

individual mind which can make mistakes and in any case soon perishes only in

the mind of the party which is collective and immortal whatever the

party holds to be true is truth it is impossible to see reality except

by looking through the eyes of the party that is the fact that you have got to

relearn Winston it needs an act of self-destruction an effort of the will

you must humble yourself before you can become sane."

my first tip I have for you guys it's probably the most important and I want

to lead off with it and that is you in order to pass a CPA exam you must be a

crazy intentional disciplined focus there's no substitute there's our

there's no review course or anything I can tell you today that that will take

the place of your dedication and your hard work the passes exam it's new truly

and truly not how smart you are i if you knew my background or not you know that

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer

but it's more about how much time you will dedicate to studying how much work

you're willing to be put in that is overall going to be the main factor of

you passing your exams more than anything else that is what's going to do

it is you stay in this is it I'm going to do it I'm going to commit to this I

don't care what it takes I don't care how much time it takes I'm so serious

about this and I'm going to make it happen that's the kind of intense

discipline focus that's going to keep you coming back at the attacking that

task day and studying day after day after day night after night after night

until it's done if your family's telling you they miss you why are you studying

so much if you feel like you're in prison being a like your own prison like

solitary confinement that means you're on the right track because that means

you're studying enough number to understand what it takes to pass this

test guys this test is hard in fact it's very

freakin hard it's one of the hardest test on the Flannan that's not even a

joke I've had attorneys come up to me and said that the attorneys who've

patents taking both the bar exam and the CPA exam they're saying Mike the CPA

exam was harder this isn't some cute little monkey test that you can play

around with this test some freaking

I'll be telling you those guys I played around with this test when I first

started with it and it dominated me dominating my bit

one of my biggest regrets in life and was this test is that I didn't know how

much effort and how hard this test actually was until later on in my life I

probably wasted a good two to three years of my life now at the end of this

video I'm gonna be showing you my real scores and you're going to see every

time I failed in every kind of path you're going to see when I started and

when I finished but truly what my biggest regret is not knowing how much I

actually need to study in order to test exam so please realize this test is hard

you really need to commit to it number three you need to know why you're doing

this this because it's test so hard it can be very frustrating for many people

so you have to have a very strong reason why I don't know why you're taking this

test you but you better know why is it because you want more money is it

because you want to have a better stability or career do you want to go

open your own CPA practice do you want to be able to provide better for your

family whatever that reason is write it out and put it somewhere you can see it

because I can tell you there might be a day or several days that will come why

why you start question yourself why am I not out with my friends why am I not

seeing my family why am i spending so much time studying so you have to have

that strong reason why and keep it out in front of you and always keep it by

you so where you can see it put it on your fridge put it on top of your

notebook whatever you need to do in order to see it do it that's number

three number four understand that there's a lot of emotional but I still

mean emotional struggles with his exam there's going to be days when you're

tired you you've gone to work and you don't want to study days when you know

you just want to do anything but study and you're mentally drained now the

hardest part at least in my experience was telling my friends and family no

because I had to learn to tell them no and it was very hard because I wanted to

see them I said guys I love you I want to see you but I

really really just need to commit to this test I need to do this and what I

want you guys to understand now you're going to try to help them understand

what you're going through because there's a lot of study time required for

this test in fact if you use Becker CPA Review

you know they recommend the good 150 hours 200 hours of study before each

test but what I need you guys understand is that they are not going to understand

what you're going through most of them cannot understand how much time that's

required for this test so please understand that they are not going to

understand they might be a little earthed for a while hey why is he

spinning wire why is he or she's spending so much time not hanging out

with me and studying for that test why are they doing that well they just they

just can't understand what it takes to pass this exam number five before you're

studying be ready to study now the reason I say

that is most of these CPA exam review courses are several of them let's say

Becker for example has an expiration date on it so that's why when you're

ready to be ready to study you put that review course if you're not

quite ready to study I would hold off from doing it because what I don't want

to happen to you guys is for you to pay for that and then have it expires

because you weren't totally ready to study there I did some really dumb

things and I mean dumb things when I was trying to take these exams for example I

decided that I was going to take an exam before getting the week in before

getting married

Everage dum dum dum dum dum I ended up getting this 72 on that exam so but

don't worry doesn't in there gets better so then I decided since it was so smart

for me to study while trying to get married I thought it would also be a

good idea for me to study whilst trying to but for just a house in fact the very

house I'm in right now it's okay I still love your house and guess what buying a

home takes a lot of time I ended up getting the worst score possible I got

the 74 it hurts so bad there was nothing I will tell you guys

there is nothing that will hurt more than a 74 there is nothing that will

light a fire under your butt make you madder than a 74 and all I need to tell

you this after I got that 74 I never failed again be ready to study

when you purchase a review course and really commit to it and just don't don't

be trying to do any major life events because it might really throw you off

course and what I would recommend doing when you start studying i I never

scheduled more than two tests at a time I would recommend trying to knock out

one of the harder tests right off the bat such as rehgar far the first test I

pass was regulation at least that's what I did and that's what I would recommend

you've made it through part number one congratulations

hello everyone and aloha

today I am going to share my college dorm experiences

by the way if you are watching this channel for the first time

I studied and graduated from university in Hawaii

so what I'm gonna share is what I experienced there specifically in the dorm

obviously I'm not in the dorm anymore but

it was 2012

I was there for a year since 2012 January

first of all

how to apply for the dorm

I submitted my application form to enter school

then school mailed a letter telling me "congrats! and welcome to school" sort of thing

following the letter I received a welcome kit

and there was an enclosed paper form for the dorm

and whoever wants a dorm needed to fill it out

I also filled it out my name and stuff because I needed one

this is how you apply

and when I was in Japan I had to mail it to Hawaii

but for some reasons

I didn't get a reply

even though they said they will get back to me by a certain date

I didn't get emails or mails, nothing

by this time I was very nervous

because America is such a lazy country I was like "yup this ain't no good"

because I was so worried I decided to call the housing department from Japan

but because I couldn't speak English at that time

so I wrote down everything I wanted to say on the paper and practiced saying them

and I said "I haven't received a reply yet. what do I do?"

and the guy understood me

but he then asked me many questions I think they were like

"what's your student ID number? " "when are you starting school?"

he said it so fast that I had no idea

I was totally acting like a typical Japanese person

that was all I could say

the conversation went on by saying only "yes" and "ok"

I think he realized how bad my English was

and I also gave up so I said "thank you" and hung up the phone

I was so sad but decided to do something about it when I get there

my first day in Hawaii I flew in and

went to school

usually first thing you do there is to check in

the dorm I lived was not so big

there were only 3 buildings

everyone checked in to their dorm

supposedly everyone gets a reply ahead of time and is assigned to each dorm

like "you are in dorm 3" or "5"

but in my case I wasn't informed and didn't know where to go

so I went all of them

at the first dorm they told me "hmm I don't see your name. try go to another building"

so I went and asked, and they said "no maybe try go to the other one"

they sent me everywhere and finally my name wasn't there

I mean... you know... I expected it...right?

I asked RA who works and takes care of things in the dorm

"what do I do now?"

she told me to rest in the temporary room until my room is ready

so I said ok and went to the room

and the room is called "piano lounge"

literally there was a piano

everybody in the dorm could access to the lounge at anytime

people can play the piano and chat with friends on the couch

it was the lounge where everyone hangs out

but there was no bed

RA told me to sleep on the couch

of course there's no safe

all the stuff I brought with me from Japan was left on the floor

and because anybody could go in to the lounge

even when I was sleeping people came in

there's a lock but it unlocks with student IDs

and the student ID looks

like this

it has my picture

when you insert this it unlocks the door

basically anyone could do this to my door

but I couldn't say anything to them

like "I live here" "would you refrain from entering this room?"

no no I wasn't that brave

I didn't even have the English skills

I was just like "uh-oh"

I just had to let them in

eventually I told RA what was going on

she told me she will fix the door lock

then they fixed the door so that temporarily I was the only one who could access to the room

HOWEVER

people still came in after that

I was confused

I thought the door was fixed

this lasted for a week

I lived in the piano lounge for a week

first week of school is very important right?

in college everyone makes friends in the first week

some finds their best friends

the other forms a group

meanwhile I am here with no roommate

no friends

alone in the piano lounge

I cannot even play the freaking piano

when I was bored I couldn't talk to a roommate cause I didn't have one

so I brushed my teeth instead

yeah I went to bathroom and brushed my teeth

finally a week later my friend helped me

my friend's friend to be exact

he talked to RA for me

I turned in what I have to and paid money

he understood that I was in a bad situation

so he talked to RA

they finally made a room for me

and I finally moved in

there was a girl in the room as a roommate

she was from Washington

she was very fun and had a lot of friends

I think she was same age as me

she was very nice and funny but

because I couldn't speak English well

we couldn't communicate

and that was my first week in Hawaii

I couldn't speak for next few months either

sometimes she asked me some questions and I didn't know what to answer

even though we lived in a same room

unfortunately we didn't talk a lot

and eventually she moved out after

a half year or so

and next roommate was from New Zealand

she was more quiet

she was nice but

when I was out of the room for class

I think she opened my closet and used my stuff like shampoo and body wash

we couldn't get close because of that

I asked her "do you know where my body wash is?"

she was like "I don't know"

but who else could touch it...

it was just two of us

but I didn't wanna cause a big drama out of it

but yeah we could't get close because of that

I ate at cafeteria

cafeteria isn't inside of the dorm

you walk a little bit to the campus and there's it

three meals at cafeteria

you pay the fee at the beginning of the semester

so you can go there as many times as you want

you can eat as much as you want at one time

it's a buffet style

they have a lot of types of food but mostly American

I gained a lot

I think I gained about 20lb in the first 6 months

but the food was not even good

there's also a shared kitchen in the dorm

but everyone pay for cafeteria so not many people used the kitchen

but what I often saw was

international students making their traditional food because they miss it

so they buy groceries from the store and cook there

also we had a fridge and freezer in the kitchen

so if you buy ice cream you can keep it in there

you write your name on it because you don't wanna mix it up

but most of the time it will be gone

because someone eats it

this will never happen in Japan

because who wants to eat somebody's leftovers?

but here people just eat them

seriously

you gotta understand once you put food in the fridge it's almost equal to you trash it

because it will be gone soon

bathrooms are shared

there are not in your room but in the unit

they divide rooms into units

like here to here is unit 1 and here is unit2

they divide it like that

and one unit has one bathroom

I mean one bathroom has 4 toilets and 4 shower rooms

so we shared that

curfew was 10pm

but no one actually followed

people don't care

some people came home in the middle of night

many people came back a little after 10 or so

it wasn't so strict

even though there was a curfew

if you live in the same dorm as your friends you can hang out with them

until as late as you want having girls talk

for me I used to girls talk until 4am

I think back and it was a good memory

this is something unique... I guess? about Hawaii

my school in Oahu was

located in the area with a lot of rains

one time in winter

it was pouring and started to flood

first floor of second story dorm got all wet

like beds got wet too

so we pulled out buckets, scooped the water

pass it on to person next to you

and threw the water outside of the dorm

it was fun

those who got wet beds came up to second floor and

they slept on hallway

I mean hallway isn't inside it's outside

it was almost like terrace

but luckily we're in Hawaii and it wasn't too cold

it was a good memory

it so Wow can't even rip tape. Ok, let's see here I'll start us off this round so

yeah I get the big one and you get the little, small one. This is still a pretty
