Termination Events in MyTRS - Duration: 10:47.

Hi and welcome to today's MTRS coffee break session. Today we'll be talking

about the three different types of termination events, and then we'll go

through some examples of each of them. First we have a voluntary termination.

A voluntary termination event is used when a member resigns from your school

district. You would also use a voluntary termination event when they have

satisfied their contract with you. So it might be a non renewal, but they had a

one-year contract they worked that year with you—

you just didn't renew their contract—you would use voluntary termination in that

scenario. An involuntary termination is used when somebody is actually fired—

most likely due to disciplinary reasons. And then the third type is job

elimination. A job elimination event would be used when the position that the

person is leaving is actually no longer going to be offered at your school

district. So in the example we're going to look at in a little bit, we have

somebody that is a French teacher, you're no longer going to offer French, so this

person needs to have a termination event entered—you would choose job

elimination in that scenario. You would not use job elimination for somebody

that was fired. We will go through some examples of people that have end-of-year

terminations. Somebody that receives a lump sum versus somebody that's paid

over the summer, and then we'll also do an example of a mid-year termination.

At this point we're actually going to jump right to MyTRS and go through a

few of these examples. When you log into MyTRS to do a member termination event

you would click on "view update employee information." If you're on the homepage

right here. You can also select it from the drop down menu at the top of the

page. So we'll go there now. In the top of the screen you'll see a "select member"

search box. You can enter the member's last name, or enter their social security

number, and click "search." The first one we're going to do today is Amanda Apple.

Amanda resigned at the end of the school year and is going to work somewhere else.

We need to do her termination event. So once we click search, her record

should show up. We have two people with Apple in their last name, so I have two

selections here. I'm going to pick Amanda Apple from the list; that will take

you to her "demographics page." You'll want to click on the "employment" link right

here; this will take you to her "employment information and events" page.

The first thing you want to do is enter an event stop date down here. The event

stop date should be the last day that the member worked. If they finish the

school year, you can use 6/30 as the "stop date."

So she worked the entire year, so I'm going to enter June 30, 2017, then you click "add,"

you choose the type of termination that applies here. She resigned to work

somewhere else so we'll choose "termination voluntary." The event start

date needs to be the next calendar day from the stop date that you entered. So,

my stop date was June 30, 2017; my event start date should be July 1, 2017.

Tab over, the effective pay date is the day after the member's last paycheck, so

Amanda received her last check on June 22, 2017, so the effective pay date is

June 23, 2017. You will leave the event stop date blank, as her termination is

her current event with your school. The FTE remains zero, workers compensation

FTE remains zero as well. You do not need to fill in the "contract term." Click Save.

Amanda Apple's termination event has been completed. You can see up here at the top:

it says "employment information has been saved." To go to the next person that you

need to terminate, you click new search right here. Enter their name or social

security number—we're going to look at Beth Biondolillo.

and we'll click search. Wait for her record to show up. We're on her

employment page, since we've already defaulted to that tab. We're going to

enter her termination event so the event stop date... So Beth completed her

contract, but her contract was not renewed—so she will not be returning

next year—but she did have a one-year contract and completed it. She finished

the school year. So we're going to use event stop date of June 30, 2017; we're

going to click add. So even though you asked her not to return for the next

year, she did complete her contract with you for one year, so you would choose

"termination voluntary" in that scenario as well. Again, the event start date

needs to be the very next day from the event stop date that you just entered—so

it's July 1, 2017. Her effective pay date is the day after her last paycheck.

Beth chose to receive pay throughout the summer, so her last paycheck is August

23, 2017. So her effective pay date will be the next day which is August 24,

2017. None of the other fields need to be filled out, and you simply click "save."

We'll go on to the next person who is Patrick pencil.

Let's do a search for him. Enter his last name or social, click search.

It says he doesn't exist... Oh, I entered his first name. Let's try that again with his last name.

As you can see, it doesn't let you search by somebody's first name, so it

has to be their last name or their social security number. We have two

Pencils at my school, so I'm going to choose the correct one: I'm looking

for Patrick. He is up, he has a job elimination. So he was the

French teacher, our school is no longer going to offer French, so that is

considered a job elimination. French will no longer exist. You wouldn't use job

elimination for somebody that was fired. It has to be that that actual position

will no longer exist. He won't be replaced by somebody else. So he also

finished the school year, so we're going to enter June 30,2017 as the stop date.

We will click "add." Since its job elimination will choose "termination job

elimination" from the event type start date. Again is always the very next day

which July 1, 2017. He was also paid throughout the summer.

His last paycheck was August 23, so his effective pay date will be August 24,

2017. That's telling our system that as of August 24,

Patrick Pencil will no longer show up in the deduction report so you have to do

it the day after their last check, and then you click "save." And we'll move on to

the next person. Andy admin is the next person, so we're

going to enter Admin; search.

His record comes up. So Andy Admin was actually fired for disciplinary reasons

during the middle of his contract, so his last day of school was 4/15. We're

going to enter the event stop date of 4/15/2017, that is his last day working

before he was terminated. We'll click "add." From the event drop-down list we'll

choose "termination involuntary" the event start date: always the next day, so it's

going to be April 16, 2017. It doesn't matter if the next day is a Sunday or

Saturday—it doesn't have to be a school day—it has to be the very next calendar

day. It doesn't matter, you know holidays, it's just always the next day. His final

paycheck was issued on 4/21/2017 so the effective pay day is the next day. So

it's 4/22/2017, and we'll click "save." We have one more example to do, we'll click

on "new search" again, enter the last name. We're looking for Sandra Science.

Click "search" her records come up. So Sandra Science has been on an unpaid leave as

of October 11, 2016. She decided on her leaves not to return for the school year,

so the day that she resigned is the day you would enter for the event stop date. She

resigned on 5/18, she did not return so we'll enter 5/18/2017. We will click "add."

She resigned, so we'll use "termination voluntary." The event stop date, as always,

is the very next day so it's May 19, 2017. Her effective pay date is the day

after her last check. Her last check was issued on October 30, 2016 so we're

going to enter October 31, 2016,

and we will click "save." Her information has been saved up here. That is the last

example of the termination events we're going to do. Once you have entered a

termination event, if you find that one of the dates is incorrect, or you need to

change it (say the effective pay date is either earlier than you were expecting,

or later) you actually are not able to change any events once a termination

event has been entered. You'll need to contact your employer service rep and

have them alter the event for you. We also ask that you do the member

termination event while you're filling out in member's retirement

application. So as you're going through the retirement application, if you can

please proactively do the termination events, so that when we are processing

the retirement, the event will already be in there. If you have any further

questions please call your employer service rep. You can check our website;

there are some training guides online. There'll be a guided practice for

termination events available there as well. That concludes today's session.

What's up it's day 4 and I didn't record at all yesterday just in the morning and I said

this so it's Wednesday day 3 I've only had one sale today so the trend maybe over.

I really thought the trend was over I only had one sale $9.99 and then all of a sudden

5pm-10pm BOOM $700 in sales.

This is all happening from 1 ad on Google and 1 ad on Facebook.

Something really interesting is the Ad I had on Google which was slowly increasing the

cost per click all of a sudden dropped to $0.07 a click it used to be at $0.35 and rising

so this really really good news.

Yesterday when I sold $700 I only spent like $5 bucks So today is Thursday its' 9:21 am

and $185.88 in sales man I think this thing still has legs.

Unbelievable.

It's 10:02pm which is my bed time I was literally in bed my phone was going off like crazy I

broke $1,000 today and there is 27 people shopping in the process right now.

I was literally in bed about to fall asleep yes don't judge I go to bed before 10pm every

day.

What's up it's day 5 Friday and I just passed $6,000 gross sales and I'm hanging out with

Will today who is going to making some awesome designs for the second phase of this whole

experiment which is going to be getting into some really cool tshirt designs let's see

how it does.

My apologies because these last couple days I haven't had a chance to vlog some of the

steps that I'm doing but it's because I've been spending all my time fulfilling these

orders it's absolutely crazy.

Yesterday was really interesting almost a $2,000 day and when you take a look at the

ads look who I'm competing against here Amazon Etsy Target despite that I have been able

to maintain an average position of 1.3 over them and impression share of 25% so despite

competing against some pretty hefty competitors my site Kick Push Skate is still kicking butt

so that's awesome.

Yesterday total spend was $152.75 and what's crazy about these ads is as they continue

to progress the conversion rates are pretty high for each keyword it's definitely over

5% some in 9% even 10% for particular keywords.

I'm super pumped because I've been working on the last 2 days with other designers to

come up with all this different types of products to upsell we're talking about shirts coffee

mugs hand bags even canvas art so today or maybe tonight I'm going to launch everything

we're going to go big on Facebook cross your fingers let's see how it does.

Something interesting is I've had 2 offers for investors to be part of this now it's

a trend and it could die any moment so giving away equity is just almost too early because

you don't know what the end value is it's just a huge variable it's interesting to consider

and I don't know what I'm going to do yet as of this moment but we shall see.

well good lovely Sunday evening it's the end of a week and the beginning of a

brand new week mondays usually suck for everyone

for me they don't bother me too much if you're wondering why I seem to be a

little bit frustrated right now it's because my camera decided to break on me

with my phone and right now I'm just checking the screen to make sure it

doesn't come up saying server error garbage that it comes up with right now

since it got updated I I love I love the new things that they updated

added to it but the camera breaks often it just constantly says server error or

camera failed or some garbage like that and it's making me angry okay on to a

more pleasant note though today was actually not too bad it was a pretty

good day it was nice and relaxing I didn't really do a whole heck of a lot

today we didn't really do a whole lot of a lot today mom slept in a lot she slept

in late ish I guess you can say today and I slept this morning for the first

time in a long time I slept in this morning or not in because I get up and

then I went back to sleep for a little bit let me check the camera yeah it's

still working so I slept until 11 o'clock today which means that the vlog

for today went up late because I wasn't apt to do that I didn't want to sleep

that long but I did because last night was an extremely late night for us

and aside from watching videos like we do every Sunday and pretty much every

day anyway we really didn't do a whole heck of a lot today it was nice and

relaxing though and that's good when Mum got up we had I went down and I

made polenta porridge for our lunch supper breakfast thing like three and

one meal I guess it's not a brunch I know what to call this breakunchsup yes

breakuncher that's it and it was absolutely delicious we make it with

milk and then I add a ton of sugar not not an overabundance trust me but it's

good sugar too it's coconut sugar coconut sugar is you know the the least

I guess poisonous sugar because sugar is poison you know and a ton of cinnamon as

well then I add a little bit of maple syrup and cream to top it all off oh

yeah vanilla also for the flavouring but yeah we kind of spent the day doing

thing but watch videos I spent a little bit of time working on some more stuff

some more changes that very one ever looks at descriptions you'll probably

see some of the discuss some of the changes there but what was really really

nice about today is that for the first time this summer we went outside and

stood on the deck at night before going to bed I mean it's a couple hours before

going to bed now or an hour so but we stood on the deck like we usually do

almost every night whenever we're able to every summer we just go we stand out

on the deck and we look up at the sky we look up at the stars of the clouds that

are out there and just enjoy the night air and it's so refreshing to do that

like just before going to bed I love doing that every summer but yeah so

that's it for my Sunday I hope you guys had a great one and I hope your Monday

is awesome as well and when this video goes up I will be

playing Prince of Persia the two films it'll be live streaming and we will be

finishing it today although we do have an appointment that we have to get to

later on so we I cannot stream for too too long so hopefully I'm able to finish

The Science of Learning: How to Turn Information into Intelligence - Duration: 8:26.

A very important idea that people are often unaware of is the fact that we have two completely

different ways of seeing the world, two different neural networks we access when we're perceiving

things.

So what this means is when we first sit down to learn something—for example, we're

going to study math.

You sit down and you focus on it.

So you focus and you're activating task-positive networks.

And then what happens is you're working away and then you start to get frustrated.

You can't figure out what's going on.

What's happening is you're focusing and you're using one small area of your brain

to analyze the material.

But it isn't the right circuit to actually understand and comprehend the material.

So you get frustrated.

You finally give up, and then when you give up and get your attention off it it turns

out that you activate a completely different type of or set of neural circuits.

That's the default mode network and the related neural circuits.

So what happens is you stop thinking about it, you relax, you go off for a walk, you

take a shower.

You're doing something different.

And in the background this default mode network is doing some sort of neural processing on

the side.

And then what happens is you come back and voila, suddenly the information makes sense.

And, in fact, it can suddenly seem so easy that you can't figure out why you didn't

understand it before.

So learning often involves going back and forth between these two different neural modes

– focus mode and what I often call diffuse mode which involves **** resting states.

You can only be in one mode at the same time

So you might wonder, is there a certain task that is more appropriate for focus mode or

diffuse mode?

The reality is that learning involves going back and forth between these two modes.

You often have to focus at first in order to sort of load that information into your

brain and then you do something different, get your attention off it and that's when

that background processing occurs.

And this happens no matter what you're learning.

Whether you're learning something in math and science, you're learning a new language,

learning music, a dance.

Even learning to back up a car.

And think about it this way.

Here's a very important related idea and that is that when you're learning something

new you want to create a well practiced neural pattern that you can easily draw to mind when

you need it.

So this is called a neural chunk and chunking theory is incredibly important in learning.

So, for example, if you are trying to learn to back up a car when you first begin it's

crazy, right.

You're looking all around.

Do you look in this mirror or this mirror or do you look behind you?

What do you do?

It's this crazy set of information.

But after you've practiced a while you develop this very nice sort of pattern that's well

practiced.

So all you have to do is think I'm going to back up a car.

Instantly that pattern comes to mind and you're able to back up a car.

Not only are you doing that but you're maybe talking to friends, listening to the radio.

It's that well practiced neural chunk that makes it seem easy.

So it's important in any kind of learning to create these well practiced patterns.

And the bigger the library of these patterns, the more well practiced sort of deeper and

broader they are as neural patterns in your mind, the more expertise you have in that

topic.

And chunking was first sort of thought of or explored by Nobel Prize Winner [Herbert]

Simon who found that, if you're a chess master, that the higher you're ranking in

chess, the more patterns of chess you have memorized.

So you could access more and more patterns of chess.

So research began developing and what they found was that the better your expertise at

anything, the more solid neural patterns, what I call neural chunks you have.

So, for example, if you might know how to do mathematics very well.

Well you've got certain patterns related to multiplication and you've practiced quite

a bit with them.

And so you can pull them instantly to mind.

And likewise, division.

And then you go higher so you've got calculus.

You've got the concept of the limit.

You've got integrals, derivatives.

And you practice with each one of those enough so that it is almost like backing up a car.

All you have to do is think oh, I've got to take this derivative and boom, off you

go.

You're taking your derivative and it seems very easy to you.

So a challenge that we've had is for a long time, particularly in mathematics education,

it was felt that if you practiced too much that it would kill your creativity.

And that's actually not true.

You want to do the right kind of practice where you're interleaving and doing one

technique and then trying that with another technique.

You don't want to just be doing the same thing over and over again.

But practicing by – here's a good way to practice developing a chunk.

Let's say that you've got a homework assignment.

You've got this homework problem and it's a really difficult homework problem.

So what you tend to do, well you do it and you turn it in.

That is the equivalent of you have just sung a song one time and thinking that you know

how to sing that song beautifully in front of an audience.

Well, it doesn't work that way.

A good thing to do when you're learning something that's difficult is find key,

in math, key problems and then see if you can work it cold.

If you can't, take a peek at whatever hints you need to be able to finish working it.

Then maybe a little later try working it again cold without looking at the answer.

And maybe you go further.

The next day try it again.

Go a little further and practice it.

What you're trying to do is to develop the same patterns that you would develop if you

practice singing a song a number of times.

And if you do this with key problems in math, or if you're learning a language key conjugation

patterns, for example—Then those patterns become automatic.

So, for example, with your problem after several days of practice you find you've worked

it out enough times by pencil that when you just look at the problem you can step through

all the solution steps in your mind.

You've created a valuable chunk.

And so then when it comes test time and you've got maybe five, ten of these key problems

– so you can just look at them and know what you're supposed to be doing.

Suddenly when you're taking that test you can pull this chunk up and connect it with

this chunk and solve new problems you haven't seen before and it's a really, really powerful

technique is to realize that all learning involves getting these neural chunks together.

bought now pay attention to which spot I take here because that's the one that's

going to be duplicated all right I took I think spot number two I'm going to get

that your friend was sitting in when he launched into the mission get it into

the mod shop and once you get into the mod shop you need to exit vehicle get

into your friend's vehicle and tell him to exit that vehicle by the way your

friend has done at this point you can freaking glitch 150 cars or whatever

empty spots you have it doesn't make a difference you can even start writing on

other cars because I'll show you right here I could manage to write on older

cars as well now upgrade everything if you have the money

upgrade as much as possible don't worry about the crew color don't worry about

the under light of the car and how much it's going to cost you because those

things are not being counted toward the money that you're going to get when

you're selling these vehicles once you've done upgrading everything the

last two steps you want to do is put on a custom plate and then put on a tracker

now this is where this glitch is superior to any other glitch including

even the allergy glitch that we did in the beginning

but that one is very good because you don't need the co2 hour all you got to

do is exit the vehicle go back in and do this the two steps that we did at the

end put a custom plate put a tracker on it and you're done exit the vehicle

again and do it again as as fast as possible now you don't have to wait for

cars to be delivered you don't have to wait for friends to spawn into your

garage you don't have to worry about being duke detected this is definitely

one of the more superior glitches that are active on the game right now you

should take advantage of it if you do need the money one thing I always like

to say though especially for people that are from Rockstar that are active on the

channel we report on glitches you guys fix your game alright for gamers be

careful don't get yourself game it's one thing to love the game it's another

any other species is. You know, we have trillions of bacteria living inside our

bodies without which you know we wouldn't be alive, we need them you know

we wouldn't be able to function without them and they need us you know. We

breathe out carbon dioxide the plant takes that in the plant releases oxygen

you know we need oxygen. And those are just some simplistic examples but still

it's crucial. We are part of the system in which we have to play a role in terms

of you know what we do to all the species that we share the planet with or

the animals the way we treat or the animal

where we treat time the way we treat nature in and of itself you know.The

we share this planet with. So, I think you know what it's not just about

responsibility, you know, to not just ourselves, but the other species we share

the planet with and our future generation. When a child is born and you

know, and a couple months, a couple of days, a couple weeks after it is diagnosed, the child is diagnosed

is diagnosed with cancer or the child has asthma, or you know, serious eye

problems where did that come from that came from the parent you know that

is a very sort of genetic weaknesses of course other factors would play a part

but if the genes are strong and the constitution of the parents were strong

the first place, the child's immune system would be strong. So children who

are born to healthy parents don't get sick that easily, and so, what we do you

know carry forward; the generation that is coming forth, they're being born

with week of genes you know as we go along and that is because you know we're

compromising. When we compromise our bodies and we have children we pass than on to

them. So even if it to say you don't care about yourself; if you're going to have

children you ought to care about you know what

you're passing on to them and so it's not just and and

also even a responsibility to yourself to live the best life in terms of how

choices we make can make a difference in terms of how we feel inside our bodies.

I was at a point where I did not feel that good in my body. Especially, I

remember when I had peptic ulcer. That was my first my first

incident of having a so-called issue. Health issue to deal with, was when I had

peptic ulcer and having. I went to the doctor and I was given this tonnes of

pill; and at the end of it, I was told that this is something that I just

would have to monitor because I had to live with it for the rest of my life.

Certain foods were just weren't good, and so forth. Well, the diet did play a part but

the way they viewed the diet and presented it to me I mean, I would

still be having that problem for the rest of my life anyway,

if I continued eating that way. So, I just want to say this, you know

Don't just think of it that way, in terms of, from that perspective because I think

that's a selfish perspective. Whether we want to accept it or not, we do have a

responsibility to the other species we share that species we share the planet

with; we have ability to you know, leaving the earth better

than how we find it, or trying to leave it, know at least trying to leave it no

worse than how we found it by our individual actions. We also

have a responsibility to the future generation, to our children, and even if

you don't have children because I know some people they don't have kids
