Hi there I'm Mike and this is Our Wyoming Life

When it comes to equipment on the ranch, the tractor is the backbone.

And when it comes to tractors we have many different types and sizes.

From small to medium to large.

From multi use tractors to single use machines.

Every tractor around here pulls its weight and although they can be high maintenance

and sometimes a royal pain they are a huge tool and a huge part of what we do everyday

on the ranch.

Rarely is a day when I'm not in a tractor for one reason or another.

Whether to feed cows, move manure, lift or move material or just moving it out of the

way to do something else.

Today we will be looking at our 3 big tractors.

These are the powerhouses of the ranch, when you think of a tractor you have to think of

it as a power supply, not many people take their tractors out for a cruise, in fact tractors

are a tool to power another tool 95 percent of the time.

Later on we will look at implements and attachments and the difference between the two.

But for right now lets get in and fire one of these beasts up and go through the basics

of each tractor.

This is our main tractor.

It's a John deere 6420, it's a 110 horsepower machine and as you can see its equipped with

a front end loader.

We use this tractor year round, in the winter its our main feeding tractor.

Used with a spear on the front end for picking up bales and a spooler on the back for rolling

out the bales for cows to eat.

It can also be fitted with a bucket for moving material or a set of forks for moving pallets

and stacked items such as lumber or fence posts.

This tractor is the easiest to drive, it's the Cadillac of our tractors and if you can

run a riding lawn mower, you can pretty much jump in and take it for a spin.

The door opens just like any car door and you climb up a small ladder and take a seat.

The seat itself is pretty comfortable, its an air ride seat, meaning that are is pumped

into bladders underneath the seat to give you more suspension and smoother ride.

Tractors don't have much in the way of suspension so when you are in a tractor for hours a day

you really appreciate a little cushion in the ride.

Once you are inside, it's a matter of starting it up.

It's a diesel engine, so you turn the key and let the glow plugs warm up just a little.

Because its almost 80 degrees today, they warm up super quick but in the dead of winter

and if the tractor has been outside it can take up to a minute to warm the plugs.

Once the tractor gives you the ok, you can start it up.

A quick look around might overwhelm you a bit, but john deere makes it pretty simple

with some color coding.

Anything with the color orange on it, has something to do with getting you and the tractor

rolling.

On the left of the steering wheel is your direction selector, forward or backward and

on the right of your seat is your throttle.

This tractor is as close to an automatic transmission in a tractor you can get, you don't have

to select gears and although you can control the power output for now we will leave it

in automatic mode.

Before we can move the tractor though, we have to make sure our loader is up and we

aren't dragging our front end through the ground.

The joystick on your right armrest controls the front end loader, back is up, forward

is down and left and right controls the tilt of whatever attachment you have on at the

time.

We lift up the front end, choose our direction, give a little throttle and away we go.

Steering is just like a car although it is a little more touchy as its controlled by

hydraulic cylinders and not a direct linkage like a normal car.

The 6420 is our newest tractor and our most heavily used, like I said its used all winter

long feeding and in the summer it will see plenty of hours during haying.

If it does break down we still need to be able to feed cows and that's why we have

an almost identical tractor, the john deere 6410.

Its older and the controls are a bit different but still following john deeres orange to

go color scheme.

This tractor however is a manual transmission.

You have 16 gears to choose from the main gears are labeled A, B, C, and D and the secondary

gears are 1-4.

A being the slowest gear and D being the fastest.

Again, you run the front end with the joystick on the right.

This tractor is currently equipped with a bucket and grapples which can be used to move

anything from hay bales to scrap material.

You select your gears, a direction of travel and let out the clutch.

This tractor gets used if our main feeding tractor is down for some reason but gets most

of its use during haying, pulling implements such as a mower, a rake or a baler.

The last tractor that we are going to look at today is our farm tractor.

It's a john Deere 4055 and the first thing you'll see that's different from the other

two is that it doesn't have a front end loader, this tractor is used strictly for

pulling.

And is used mostly during haying or if we have to till or cultivate a field prior to

reseeding.

This tractor is a completely different animal to drive, no orange to give us a clue.

But its still relatively simple.

The entire drive system is controlled from your right hand side.

One reverse gear and ?? forward gears, selectable by just sliding this lever up.

The other big difference about this older tractor is the way you turn if off.

You can turn off the key and it will just keep on running.

You need to pull this knob out to shut it off, cutting off fuel supply to the engine.

The other big question I get about the tractors and mostly coming from people who are inside

them, is how the hell do I get out.

Door handles on the inside are not like a normal car, on the newer tractors it's a

matter of squeezing a somewhat hidden inside lever to pop the door open and on the 4055

its this somewhat awkward lever, allowing you escape.

Those are basics of getting in and getting a tractor moving but they are a lot more complicated

that just that.

The multiple levers, switches and other doodads are there to control the implements and attachments.

This is where things get interesting and can be very dangerous.

The number of implements and attachments for tractors such as these are countless.

From buckets and loaders to mowers and balers.

First lets take a look at the difference between an implement and an attachment.

Attachments are any additional or supplementary devices that attach to the tractor, like a

front end loader.

Our front end loaders allow us to use a number of attachments like our bucket but they are

easily taken off and replaced with another tool that might work better for the job.

Two pins are all that hold the bucket on the front end loader, after releasing the hydraulic

hoses that control the grapple on the bucket we can slide it off the tractor and attach

either our forks or our spear.

Implements usually attach to the back of the tractor and are tools that are used in some

specific activity such as a plow or a harrow or even a mower.

There are two ways to attach implements, we have a regular hitch or draw bar on the back

of the tractor which you can use a pin to attach an implement or some tools use these

arms, called a three point hitch.

Which are controlled from inside the tractor.

You basically back up to an implement, line up your pins and lift it using this controller

which allows you to select the height at which you want to carry your implement.

It also allows you to control how deep you put your implement, such as this plow, into

the ground and hold it at a steady depth as you move through a field.

Some implements, such as this mower require power from the tractor to run, in this case

to spin the blades.

This is accomplished by using the tractors, PTO or power take off.

A gear that extends from the back of the tractor and by connecting this shaft to that gear

we can move the power to the gearbox that spins the blades and cuts the grass in an

8 foot swath.

There are a ton more implements and tools we will be using through the year and as we

get into haying here in a few weeks and I will try to show them all to you as we go.

I've got my new summer straw hat on and I only point it out because this is as nice

as this hat is ever going to look.

Every spring as the weather heats up I retire my black hat for the summer and switch to

the straw, mostly because its a lot cooler but also because I can guarantee that by the

end of summer and fall this hat will be destroyed.

We will track it and its damage along the way but yes, this is the nicest it will ever

look.

Spinner (Torsion Field #2) - Duration: 7:14.

Hi! I'm Korney.

I want to talk about torsion fields. Torsion fields are generated by any rotating objects.

They are of an informational nature. And so they can influence the development of events in the world around them.

Physics does not prove the existence of torsion fields at the moment. But this does not mean that in the future there will be no evidence.

The topic of torsion fields is dedicated to one video on my channel. It is called "Как сделать падение метеорита (Torsion Field)".

A few days later, after this experiment, three fairly large space objects flew into the Earth's atmosphere.

Many witnesses saw this. I think that experiment was successful.

Why did I decide to return to this topic? Because I saw that my grandson plays with a spinner.

The spinner rotates and creates a torsion field. I thought that it could be used.

If I write down information on the spinner, then this information will be broadcast to the universe.

I used an ancient runic alphabet to write information in the previous experiment.

I combined two techniques. It was the technique of runes and the technique of torsion fields.

This time I want to do a little differently. I want to combine the technique of shortening phrases and the technique of torsion fields.

A phrase will express a desire. It is better if a phrase is short. But I want a phrase to carry more information.

These requirements are contradictory. It is necessary to use the technique of shortening the phrase to combine them. Now I'll show you how to do this.

Today we`re going to judge K00204 and K00206 firecrackers

We have 3 pcs of red firecrackers

I don`t know their weight

As you see they are on a drach

So they`ll be withdrawn from sale

They don`t have CE certificate

And the same with green firecrackers but we have 12 pcs in one pack

They have 5,64 g of NEC

It`s for all pieces

But I`m too lazy to count how much NEC has one firecracker

It`ll be less than 1 g of NEC for one piece

Let`s test it!

We are testing ACHTUNGs

We'll test K00206 at first

They are bigger firecrackers

They have a fuse here

It has sulfur

I think it`ll be interesting

Quite loud

Second firecracker

They are smaller

December 2015: Here I am desperately wishing I could hide my body behind my baby.

We started the family pajama tradition, but I never would have done so if I knew it meant

a full body picture.

May 2016: 7 months pregnant with baby #2.

When you are fat and pregnant, people tend to think you are having multiples.

Nope, just one and a lot of fat.

I had my little pickle early June.

I got really tired of the "oh my god, you are going to pop!" and the "how many are in

there?"

comments, including from medical staff.

July 2016: One of the only full body pictures I can find of myself between then and now.

Despite it being July, I am hiding my body in jeans and a cardigan.

A lot of women hate their post baby bodies, but having done two babies in 14 months, I

really hated mine.

In November 2016 I had a hysterectomy to remove cancer, and in March 2017, I found a series

of abdominal lumps.

I was told by a surgeon that they could be hernias or they could be tumors, but I was

too fat for him to operate on regardless, so he wasn't going to test.

He then walked out of the office.

I was blown away that my weight was such a factor that they literally didn't care about

me at all.

I was told to come back once I had lost 100lbs, and then they would do some scans.

June 2017: I started losing weight in January due to stress.

In March, after having lost 20lbs, I decided to start meal prepping.

1200 calories, protein, veggies, low carb, and water.

That's it.

No soda, alcohol, fast food, junk food, or cheat days.

Every Sunday was spent cooking and packing my meals for the week.

I have lost 70lbs so far, most of those from March 2017 to now.

I drink 100 ounces of water every day, I play with my kids and have dance parties, I walk

at least 30 minutes a day every day, and I take the stairs at work.

Sure, I'm a bit sweaty in some meetings, but no one has complained so far.

I apologize if I come across as a braggart or self absorbed, but today is the first time

in years that I've had my picture taken and I haven't wanted to cry.

I still have a long way to go, but I thank you for letting me share my progress with

The GOP That Failed.The party didn't decide.

And now Republicans are stuck with Trump.

As the carnage of World War I widened, Barbara Tuchman recounts in "The Guns of August,"

a German leader asked a colleague, "How did it all happen?"

"Ah," replied the other, "if only one knew."

A century later, there is no mystery to the carnage that President Donald Trump has wrought.

Everything we have seen in these first 140 days—the splintering of the Western alliance,

the grifter's ethics he and his family embody, the breathtaking ignorance of history, geopolitics

and government, the jaw-dropping egomania, the sheer incompetence and contempt for democratic

norms—was on full display from the moment his campaign began.

And that's not just what Democrats think—it's what many prominent Republicans have said

all along.

Once Trump was elected, his foes began to indulge in a series of fantasies about how

to prevent his ascendancy or how to remove him from power.

The electors should refuse to vote for him (which would have thrown the election into

the House, which would have chosen Trump); the Cabinet and the vice-president should

use the 25th Amendment to declare him unable to exercise his duties (a scenario, as I have

written here earlier, that works just fine on TV melodramas like "24" and "Scandal");

Congress should impeach him (which would require 20 GOP House members and 19 Republican senators

to join every Democratic lawmaker).

So this may be a good time to remember that in a key sense, Trump happened because a well-established,

real-life mechanism that was in the best position to prevent a Trump presidency failed.

That institution was the Republican Party.

It is not entirely true that Trump engineered a "hostile takeover" of the GOP, provided

that the party is defined more broadly than elected officials and party insiders.

As Conor Friedersdorf wrote last year in the Atlantic: "the elements of the party that

sent pro-Trump cues or Trump is at least acceptable' signals to primary voters—Rush Limbaugh,

Sarah Palin, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Breitbart.com, The Drudge Report, The New York Post, Bill

O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Jeff Sessions, Rick Scott, Jan Brewer, Joe Arpaio—are

simply more powerful, relative to National Review, Mitt Romney, John McCain, and other

'Trump is unacceptable' forces, than previously thought."

What is true, however, is that the governing wing of the party was fully aware that Trump

was not to be trusted with the levers of power.

In January of last year, National Review devoted an entire issue to a symposium where 22 prominent

Republicans and conservatives detailed their militant opposition to the candidate Texas

Governor Rick Perry—who is now Trump's energy secretary—called "a cancer" on

the American political system.

Until his nomination was all but assured, Trump had the backing of a lone Republican

senator, Jeff Sessions (who is now his embattled attorney general).

More broadly, the whole idea of a disparate party coming together at a convention was,

for decades, rooted in the "vetting" process; those experienced in the mechanics of politics

and governments would decide which of the candidates were best equipped to win an election

and carry out the party's agenda in Washington.

It's beyond obvious that in the decades since primaries replaced power brokers as

the delegate-selecting process, this role has attenuated.

But it survives today as an "In-Case-Of-Emergency-Break-Glass" tool.

And the question is: Why didn't the Republican Party employ it?

Explanations have ranged from the fragmented nature of the opposition—no early consensus

choice as with George W. Bush in 2000—to the underestimation of Trump's appeal (the

establishment candidates like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie spent their time and

money attacking each other, while Ted Cruz was constantly praising Trump, hoping to ride

in his wake when he collapsed).

But one often overlooked reason—and one for parties to remember if they hope to avoid

future Trumps—is that the rules of the GOP greatly benefitted Trump.

The party allows winner-take-all primaries by congressional district or statewide—

which in many states hugely magnified Trump's delegate totals.

Trump won 32 percent of the South Carolina vote, but all 50 delegates.

He won 46 percent of the Florida vote but all 99 delegates.

He won 39 percent of the Illinois vote, but 80 percent of the 69 delegates.

By contrast, Democrats—who abolished winner-take-all primaries more than 40 years ago, insist on

a proportional system, much like parents cut the cake at a children's birthday party.

The result is that an intensely motivated minority cannot seize the lion's share of

delegates.

Another rule may well have stayed the hand of Republicans who saw in Trump an unacceptable

nominee.

The Democratic Party gives more than 700 people seats as "superdelegates."

Every senator, every House member, every governor and a regiment of party officials are, by

rule, unbound.

They make up 15 percent of the total votes at the convention.

Republicans only have some 150 "automatic" delegates—7 percent of the total—and they

must vote the way their state's primary voters did.

Thus, the whole idea of an emergency brake is almost nonexistent in the GOP.

Whether such tools should exist is a matter of debate.

Many Democrats on their party's left disdain the idea of such backroom politics (although

toward the end of the 2016 primary season, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' backers were

urging superdelegates to vote for him on the grounds that the was the more electable candidate

in November).

If a candidate comes to the convention with more votes than anyone else, but with more

voters having chosen a different candidate, what's the "right" thing for an unbound

delegate to do?

The famous assertion by Edmund Burke, that "your representative owes you, not

his industry only, but his judgment; and he betrays, instead of serving you, if he sacrifices

it to your opinion" is very much out of fashion among the populist movements on left

and right.

But either by cluelessness or willful design, the Republican Party had put itself in a position

where one of the most significant functions of

a party—the "vetting" of

its prospective nominee—was rendered impotent.

And we are living with that institutional failure

every day.

So for this tutorial,I'll be using Shea moisture's raw shea butter.And I will be working on freshly

washed hair.So for the first part of this tutorial, I'll be sectioning my hair into

two sections and then you'll see me sectioning those two sections into smaller ones.

This just helps me work and manage my hair when I part it into sections.So i take the

smaller section and seperate that into another smaller section, which helps me,like I said,

manage and work with my hair because I do have really thick hair.

So when I part it into smaller sections, it's easier to manage.

So, I'm going to take my Cantu leave-in conditioner and finger-detangle the back part of my hair.And

I just want to work the product in my hair and detangle at the same time.So this is what

I'm doing.

This will also help my curls become more defined and then I can eventually clip and trim my

ends.

So if you're like me and you don't want to go to a hairstylist, you can just easily do

this whole process at home.And this is what my hair looks like when it's defined and I

trim my ends.I do have a lot of shrinkage.

And as you can see,I have to go through each individual curl and cut it because my curls

are smaller.I take it strand by strand and just trim the ends.

So now that I'm almost done, you can see how I rake the product throughout my hair because

I really want those curls defined before I cut them.I have...my hair gets frizzy,so if

my hair is just frizzy, I don't know exactly where to cut the frizzy, split ends off.

Thats why I'm defining my curls.And this is the finished product.You will see in the back,

there are some straight ends.That's only because the product didn't get all the way through

my strands.I will eventually cut the ends off if they need to be cut.

Near Death Experiences Explained - Truth About NDEs - Duration: 10:18.

You're surrounded by darkness, floating through the air.

Suddenly a bright light approaches!

You enter a great hall and are greeted by the Hindu god of death Yama who rests beside

his two ferocious hellhounds, doted on by servants.

His accountant Chitragupta is there flipping through a book to check your karma before

realizing that whoops!

They messed up!

There's been a mistake!

And now they have to send you back.

You wake up in a hospital bed surrounded by doctors and very confused.

The Hindu's were right all along?

What the hell just happened?

You've just had a near death experience (NDE).

But does this mean there's a heaven or a hell?

At first glance, near death experiences seem to be convincing proof of an afterlife.

Except for a couple major problems.

First off, in the largest study of NDEs ever conducted, only 9 percent of cardiac arrest

survivors who were able to complete a detailed interview had a near death experience.

If people have souls and everyone who dies goes to heaven or hell, then what's up with

the other 91% who flat line, but never have an NDE?

But even with such a small percentage, there are still thousands of anecdotes from people

who claim to have returned from the other side.

In his 1975 book Life After Life, Raymond Moody's interviewed 150 people about their

near death experiences, and Dr. Jeffrey Long has accumulated over 4000 near death experience

accounts online.

Both are convinced that these stories are proof of an afterlife.

But in both of these cases they're all just anecdotes.

I'm not saying these people didn't experience something odd.

But I am saying that we should take it with a grain of salt, because if anecdotes meet your standard

for what qualifies as evidence, then you should probably start buying tin foil and food buckets,

because there are just as many people who report seeing reptilians and who have been

abducted by aliens.

To prove just how useless anecdotes are, I successfully submitted a fictitious near death

experience account to Dr. Long's website that's been up for over two weeks now, in

which my leg was amputated and my heart stopped.

I floated off the operating table before explosive diarrhea launched me at light speed to a beautiful

rainforest paradise where I was greeted by my dead grandpa and the golden robot-god C3PO

who was floating through the air on a chair and speaking in Spanish.

You would expect, that if any particular religious account of the afterlife were true, every

NDE would be pretty much the same.

But these accounts are so varied and are all based on cultural exposure.

In India people see Hindu gods, in Saudi Arabia it's Mohamad, Allah, and a bunch of virgins.

The kid from the book/movie Heaven is for Real saw a Jesus with bright blue eyes,

and one little girl went to heaven and was greeted by a portly man with a white

beard and a red cap a.k.a. Santa Clause.

But what about veridical NDEs - Near death experiences in which the person sees something

they couldn't otherwise have known while "flat-lining" and others are able to verify

that what they saw is indeed correct

The most notorious example of this is Maria's shoe.

A lady named Maria reportedly left her body floated around and saw a shoe on a ledge outside

her hospital window that she "couldn't have possibly seen."

Her critical care provider, Kimberly Clark looked outside and saw the shoe just as described.

But when researchers tried to track down Maria to confirm Clark's story,

they weren't able to find any such person or anyone else to corroborate the account.

And when they placed a shoe on the ledge, it was clearly visible from the hospital room,

proving Clark had exaggerated at least part of the story.

In another case, according to spiritual healing advocate Larry Dossey,

a woman named Sarah who was blind from birth had an NDE in which she saw scribbles on the

whiteboard in the emergency room and that her anesthesiologist was wearing mismatching

socks.

But when investigators pressed Dossey for more details, he later admitted it was a total fabrication.

Not one case of veridical NDEs has ever been confirmed under a scientifically controlled setting.

To quote physicist Dr. Vic Stenger, "To scientifically prove life after death is going to require

carefully controlled experiments, not just a lot of stories.

The plural of anecdote is not 'data.'"

Some people reported gaining supernatural powers after an NDE, the great thing about

this, is we can test it.

But noone has ever proven it under a controlled setting.

Although, I hear the James Randy foundation has been offering a million-dollar prize to

anyone who can prove they have supernatural powers.

One example of post NDE supernatural claims is Dannion Brinkley who wrote a book in 1994

called Saved by the Light, in which he described his prophetic powers and claimed to have prophesied

about things in 1975 that later came true.

One of Dannion's 1975 prophecies was that China would invade the Soviet Union, fight

over a railroad, and proceed to march deep into the heart of the USSR.

Yep.

Totally happened.

Oh, and Alex Malarkey, the kid from the book "The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven."

admitted the entire story was a hoax… after the book sold a million copies.

While parapsychologists, pastors, and religious gurus are all quick to speculate and jump

to conflicting conclusions that near death experiences are proof of their god, scientists

have consistently stated for decades now that we don't know exactly what's going on

during an NDE, but they continue to do research.

And here's what we've found:

There's no indication whatsoever that anything supernatural is going on.

Dr. Sam Parnia took 4 years to conduct a study of 2060 cardiac arrest patients.

Of the 330 who survived, 140 were able to be interviewed, and only 9 had a near death experience.

Nine people is an absolutely tiny sample size by any stretch of the imagination, but in

this and several other studies, cards bearing numbers and images were placed just above

the bed, but out of site of the doctors and patients so if the patients had had an out

of body experience (OBE), they would have seen the images.

While many of the patients in these studies described having an out of body experience

and floating above the operating table, not one in any of the studies described seeing

the cards.

But it gets even better.

Every aspect of Near Death Experiences can be artificially induced in a lab.

When the brain experiences hypoxia (a decrease in oxygen), as happens to jet fighter pilots

in centrifuges, feelings of euphoria, tunnel vision, hyper-vividness, clarity, and hallucinations

can result.

You can eliminate the tunnel vision experience by placing goggles on them that apply pressure

to their eyes counteracting the depressurizing effects of hypoxia on the eyes.

Drugs such as Ketamine which interact with your NMDA receptors can induce NDE-like experiences.

This is relevant because your brain contains naturally occurring neuroprotective agents

that bind to same receptors and could potentially create these experiences naturally.

There's growing evidence that the temporal lobe plays a huge role in the creating NDEs

When patients had their brains scanned after an NDE, it was discovered that they had increased

levels of temporal lobe activity compared with those in a control group.

That could help explain why only a small percentage of people who flat line have NDEs.

When Dr. Olaf Blank implanted electrodes into the brains of patients, he was able to trigger

supernatural and out of body experiences by stimulating the temporal parietal junction.

To take this a step further, Dr. Michael Persinger created what he calls the God Helmet.

The experiences these people have had are clearly very real. The question is,

Do the represent something out in the world or inside the brain

Here at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada,

People are having these strange experiences everyday.

The difference: scientists are triggering them with, of all things, magnets.

Over 1000 people have worn it and over 80% have had an artificially induced supernatural

or out of body experiences.

Where it gets really strange is Persinger is trying to incorporate the God Helmet into

virtual reality technologies, possibly inside of a game.

Once supernatural experiences can be packaged up and commercialized, will people finally

start to realize that it's all in their heads.

Or are they going to start worshipping the God-Plumber Mario?

Finally, a near death experience does not mean the person died.

It means that they came close.

In fact, it's a common misconception that a flat EEG indicates complete and total brain death.

An EEG only measures electrical activity on the outer layers of the brain - not activity deep inside.

Our brains do weird things – like hallucinate and have odd dreams.

I'm not saying an NDE is the same as a dream, but both are arbitrary, unpredictable, and

only occur a small percentage of the time.

And neither one is proof of anything other than that our brains work in strange ways.

Hell, if near death experiences are evidence of Lord Shiva, then dreams are evidence that

I'm a super saiyan, a time lord, and batman.

If near death experiences were evidence of life after death.

The evidence would be undeniable and all around us.

100% of people who flat-line would have NDEs, and would return with the same vision of heaven.

They would know things they couldn't possibly otherwise know, and we'd have a lot more

than just anecdotes.

Instead only a fraction of the people who are resuscitated have NDEs, their experiences

are cultural and all over the place, and the feelings that they experience are replicable in

the lab by messing with very specific brain regions.

We have no valid evidence that NDEs are proof of life after death – evidence that should

be there if there if that was indeed the case.

Now I know some of you are bummed by this, hoping for some type of eternal life after death.

If that's the case, check out my video "Why is Heaven Bad?"

But disregarding wishful thinking, there's still a bright side.

If this life is all there is, then there's no hell afterwards.

If there's no hell, there are no demons.

Also, if there's no afterlife, then there's no angry spirits or ghosts lingering on long

after they're dead haunting houses and old buildings.

That's a good thing.

Because that's one less thing you have to be afraid of.

These experiences aren't meaningless.

They show us the value and brevity of life.

Life is short.

Which is what makes it so precious.

You don't have to live a life in fear of hell, but do live it with fervor, love, and

curiosity because it's probably all you've got.

And that's ok.

Because while we're here, we've got each other.

What Were the Star Wars Prop Weapons Made From - Part 2 - Duration: 4:49.

The lightsaber is the most iconic prop of the Star Wars universe.

The first lightsaber ever seen by the public, was Anakin's that Obi-Wan gave to Luke.

The hilt of this elegant weapon for a more civilized age is actually a camera attachment

from the 1940s.

It was a 3-cell Graflex camera flash gun attachment that the crew found in a box lying around

in a camera shop.

They used the flash gun as the hilt and added "greeblies" or decorations to made it

look like a futuristic energy sword hilt.

To give the flash gun a handle appearance, T-Tracks for kitchen drawers were added so

it looked more like a grip for the hand.

A magnification display taken from a Texas Instruments calculator from 1974 was mounted

in the camera attachment slot to make the "activation panel."

Then to finish it off, a D-ring assembly was attached to the bottom of the hilt, so Luke

could hang it from his belt.

The DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol is one of, if not the most powerful blaster pistol in

the galaxy.

It's also instantly recognized as Han Solo's main side-arm.

This weapon was based on a German Mauser C96, but it wasn't put together using one that

they found lying around.

There were a few versions of this blaster, but the specific prop that we're focusing

on had been used by Frank Sinatra in the 1966 movie The Naked Runner and had already been

modified to have a scope attached.

So, they added a German Hensoldt Wetzlar Ziel Dialyt 3x sniper scope and a bracket for mounting.

They then attached a German MG 81 machine gun flash-hider on the end of the barrel to

give it ray-gun appearance.

They also added half of a dummy radial engine cylinder from an old bi-plane scale model

to the front of the pistol magazine to give it ridges for the cooling unit on the front

of the blaster.

The Wookie Bowcaster was probably the highest profile weapon of the original trilogy that

was only fired in two scenes of the three movies, once in The Empire Strikes Back and

once in Return of the Jedi.

This unusual weapon was built using a model of crossbow that it seems no one can identify.

The Barnett Commando was very close, but fan prop-makers then found the Horton Safari Magnum

Crossbow which is the closest that the fan based prop experts can find that matches the

overall shape of the prop crossbow.

But, as you can see, the Horton crossbow is a solid piece that would need to be hollowed

out to match the prop.

On the top of the unknown crossbow they mounted three scopes.

In the center they mounted a Single Point scope, and on each side they mounted two Original

brand Model 7 4x20 scopes.

They removed the crossbow string and attached painted racquetballs to the tips of the limbs.

On the fore grip, they added mounting plates for the knobs and dials that look like guitar

amplifier and camera knobs.

Just under and in front of the scopes, a small metal pipe was attached to make a barrel and

at the end they created a front sight.

To finish the weapon off, the prop makers added rings to the front and back for a shoulder

strap to be attached.

The BlasTech T-21 Light Repeating Blaster was first seen being carried by one of the

sandtroopers heading to docking bay 94 to stop the Millennium Falcon from leaving and

capture R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Not much had to be done to this prop weapon to make it fit in the Star Wars universe.

It was built out of a British-made Lewis Mk I light machine gun.

The drum magazine was removed, along with the bi-pod.

A black ridged piece of tubing was slid down and placed just in front of where the drum

magazine was attached.

There was also a type of carry handle mounted just behind the tubing.

Then they connected a carry strap around the barrel, near the muzzle and to the original

rear sling mount.

The DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle is the last weapon in our line-up.

It was used by a few troopers, including one in the group headed to docking bay 94, and

Han and Chewie when they rescued Leia from the detention center on the Death Star.

This prop had the least done to it to convert it from the WWII German MG34 machine gun to

the DLT-19.

The only things they did to this prop to make it a blaster rifle, was add T-rails on the

barrel shroud much like the E-11 Blaster Rifle, and then paint the whole thing black.

Next, punch a few holes in the lids of the jars.

Be sure that the holes are large enough for the flies to fly in.

Set the jars in places where flies have been a problem.

When the flies climb in, they are not smart enough to get out.

We've got the best analyst in the business, and he's got a strong buy recommendation

on this baby...with a very exciting target price.

But you have to act fast.

So what do you say?

How many shares can I put you down for?

The pitch usually isn't that crass, but advisors are making sales calls every day,

pushing investments that often aren't in their clients' best interest.

Sometimes they don't even bother to make a call.

They just load up accounts with investments and beg for forgiveness later, if and when

things go wrong.

How can you prevent this from happening to you?

Three words: Investment policy statement.

I'm Tony Layton and in this episode of Family Matters, I'll tell you what an Investment

Policy Statement is, and why you need one.

You can think of an Investment Policy Statement -- I-P-S for short -- as a contract between

you and your financial advisor.

Here's the one we use at PWL.

By filling it out and signing it, you and your investment advisor agree what will be

in your investment portfolio, and what will not be in there.

Most importantly, your I-P-S establishes how much risk you are willing to take in your

portfolio by setting down your target asset allocation.

What's a target asset allocation?

Well, you might agree with your advisor, for example, that your portfolio will hold 5%

cash, 40% in bonds and other fixed-income securities and 55% in stocks, also known as

equities.

These basic asset classes would then be broken down further.

For example, you could designate 20% of the equity portion to be in Canadian stocks, 50%

in U.S. stocks and 30% in international stocks.

You could take it another step by saying, for example, you don't want any new stock

issues in your portfolio.

Or, you could say you only want ethical or green investments and define what you mean

by that.

The important thing is that it's written down.

It's also crucial for your I-P-S to state clearly how your investment advisor will be

compensated and by how much.

It should list all commissions, fees and charges you will be paying to have your investments

managed.

Now, why is an I-P-S so important?

First and foremost, it keeps you on track in terms of controlling how much risk you

are taking in your investment portfolio.

Think about the strong returns we've seen in the stock market.

As your stocks appreciate, they represent a greater percentage of your portfolio and

more risk.

Your investment advisor would see that and rebalance your portfolio in line with your

I-P-S.

He or she would increase the percentage of fixed income to re-establish your target asset

allocation and agreed risk profile.

On the other hand, say the market is falling sharply and you start to panic.

You want to sell stocks.

Your investment advisor can use your I-P-S to persuade you to ride out the storm...and

even buy stocks to rebalance on the other side.

Finally, an I-P-S can help protect you from bad or risky investments.

Too often in Canada, advisors have conflicts of interest and clients are sold investments

that are not in their best interest.

Your advisor might get an increased commission to sell you a new issue like Lucky Gusher

Oil, or an expensive mutual fund created by his or her firm.

An I-P-S can help you to keep investments like that out of your portfolio and give you

the recourse if they end up in there against your wishes.
