Which are?

SI and CUANDO

Well, that's easy...

SÍ means YES in Spanish, that's clear...

No!

What?

Well, yes.

SÍ with acento means YES in Spanish, but today we are talking about SI without acento.

Huh?

The pronunciation is the same, but only to distinguish the two words we write SÍ (with

an accent it means YES) and SI without an accent, it means ...

What does that mean?

IF in English.

And what does CUANDO mean?

"When" in English.

Alright!... hmm… care to elaborate?

YES, in this case….

how do you use SI…?

and how do you use CUANDO?

CUANDO means WHEN.

It can be used to talk about WHEN something happens... "always" or "every time", por ejemplo:

"Cuando tú vienes a Santiago, siempre llueve."

Ok, cuando tú vienes a Santiago, every time or whenever you come to Santiago...

Exacto!

Another example: "Cuando voy al gimnasio, después estoy cansado.

"Cuando voy al gimnasio, después estoy cansado (When I go to the gym I feel tired afterwards.)

Ok, every time I go to the gym...

Correcto!

CUANDO can also be used to talk about the past.

And in this case it can sometimes mean "AS"...

We use the spanish conjunction SI with SI clauses (if clauses) ORACIONES CONDICIONALES

to express that an action takes place only under a certain condition.

You can also use SI with Imperfecto del Subjuntivo if--

Ok, we use SI very often with subordinate clauses.

With one sentence or clause that is the subordinate or secondary and it depends on a main clause

or sentence…

OH KAY…

The main clause is with a verb in the present, in presente, and the subordinate clause is

either in present tense or futuro, in the simple future tense.m .

WHAT?!

Oh, let's just make some examples!

PLEASE!!!

In the following examples we will form una ORACIÓN CONDICIONAL...

Si (yo) tengo tiempo, (yo) voy hoy al supermercado.

Here both verbs are conjugated in the present tense.

TENER = si yo tengo ... and IR = yo voy

Si (tú) quieres aprender español, yo puedo enseñarte.

Here both verbs are also conjugated in PRESENTE.

QUERER = si tú quieres ... and PODER = yo puedo ...

Si (nosotros) vamos al cine, (yo) como palomitas de maíz.

So, in such sentences, if we use SI it's IF in English, and in this case when we are talking

about the present we also use PRESENTE INDICATIVO in Spanish…

Correct… we can also conjugate the second verb in FUTURO, when we're talking about

the future.

Si Cristalina cocina, la comida estará rica.

Here the verb in the main clause (COCINAR) is conjugated in Presente: Si Cristalina cocina

...

And the verb in the subordinate clause (ESTAR) conjugated in Futuro Simple: ... la comida

estará rica.

Now more examples from you...

Si (tú) comes demasiado (tú) engordarás.

Heeey!

En resumen!

To summarize!

CUANDO means WHEN in English.

When I'm talking about doing something regularly or "always" or when I want to ask when something

is happening.

It also means AS when I talk about the past.

SI means IF.

Here we are talking about a condition to do something.

This kind of relationship usually becomes

the most unforgettable and painful one in our lives.

And it truly hurts the most.

Talking about this kind of relationship,

today the song I want to share with you guys is a collaboration

between DJ Marshmello and British band Bastille - Happier

The song is talking about someone who is reflecting on a failed relationship.

The artist acknowledges the pain of seeing his partner with someone else,

however, he knows the only way to make his lover truly happy is to leave her.

But the truth is the decision is totally contradictory to his true feelings with the love.

Although the story behind this song is a little bit different,

but it still reminds me of the Movie La La Land.

"La La Land" ends with Sebastian and Mia as two individuals who fell in love,

but their careers take precedence over any effort to try to maintain their relationship.

At the ending scene,

they both accomplish their dream,

Mia returns to L.A, already married to someone else,

she comes across Seb's Jazz Club.

They see each other and all fantasy montage unfold onscreen.

Mia smiles at Sebastian while they're both contemplating

what their life together could have been like.

The truth is I cried in the theater

When these all fantasy rewind,

I just felt so overwhelmed.

LA LA LAND is so good,

plz you guys have to go watch it.

To my opinion,

although Mia and Seb doesn't end up together,

it doesn't mean their love is less important.

It's about how much they help each other to grow

and how important each person is in their journey in wherever they're going.

Yeah, it's my view to this kind of relationship.

Keep Growing and going forward is the reason why we exist.

Recently I lost my best friend, my companion, my life long friend.

Hey Dan here and today we have a question from Baptiste, which I'm

probably pronouncing wrong, from France. It is a great question about meeting the

need for newness as an ENFP. You know if you've watched my other videos, and I'll

link to them here as well, on human need psychology and our need of enfps to have

newness, to have variety to get that excitement and stimulation where we go a

little crazy you'll know that this is a really important part of being an ENFP

so here's what he says real quick thank you for your YouTube videos I'm

also a French ENFP who is struggling with getting things done as with all

enfps I crave novelty and new things are exciting to me this applies to all areas

of life girlfriend's accommodation ideas projects that's why I'm interested in

advice around how specifically you meet this need for newness in various areas

paraphrasing of the questionnaire so what I've found in my own life because

I've had some pretty crazy travels I left Canada six years ago now and have

lived in seven different countries running my own business the whole time

I've had a lot of newness and variety there and at times I've been living in

one country with a long-term girlfriend and a pretty stable business and at

other times I've been bouncing around when terms of wealth where I've lived

and where I've slept in all kinds of things and had a lot more newness and

variety there and one thing I've actually found is that when I'm meeting

my need for variety through my personal life so by lots of travel and when I was

single and dating lots of new people I actually found that my business nothing

really that exciting happened for better or worse but I didn't really take on new

projects or do anything that interesting it's like that need was being met and I

was almost like run out of I guess steam by time that came to the business side

on the other hand when I've had stability when I've been living in one

place and had a stable relationship as well then I found that I really pushed

myself in terms of my business trying to meet

need for variety and get some excitement that way and it's kind of an unconscious

thing in this way that I figured out but it's also something you can proactively

do so first of all as an ENFP you're going to have this need for variety

there's no way around it if you can work it into what you do to earn money and

your day to day life to at least have some variety and challenge

please start there getting your need for stimulation through your work is going

to be quite positive and just generally through your day to day life but even if

you are getting that like I even generally get some challenge and variety

was what I do but I still need the odd booster shot and buy booster shot I mean

doing something totally new that could be a weekend trip you take could be I

have a friend now who just got back I wanted to go visit him in Berlin and I

asked if he's in town he's like no I'm coming back from Africa today I just

climbed Mount Kilimanjaro but I fly to China in two days and then to North

Korea so clearly he is getting some serious

booster shots of adventure that are probably going to last him for the next

year or two right and these things happen like you don't have to go quite

that extreme I would not go to North Korea personally but even things like

going to a concert skydiving may be some kind of extreme

sport or some kind of really fun event a music festival some kind of party maybe

learning something new that's like challenging and exciting though not like

you know puzzle or something that's interesting but not necessarily that

stimulating that will stick with you for a while so you don't have to do that

every day or every week but planning into maybe say once a month proactively

look at your calendar okay it's October what am I gonna do this month I'm gonna

go on a trip or am I going to go to a concert am I gonna go do some crazy

sport what is it that I can do that is going to basically give me that boost on

the need for variety so that's what I attempt to do I don't always do it but

I'm doing right now and that's what I would

recommend doing is day-to-day try to have some challenge and stimulation and

then on a bigger scale planet out on like a monthly basis and you did ask

as you're getting that need for newness or adventure it's kind of the same thing

your relationships your business your health like all areas of life or you go

it's a really long name

SI and CUANDO

Well, that's easy...

SÍ means YES in Spanish, that's clear...

No!

What?

Well, yes.

SÍ with acento means YES in Spanish, but today we are talking about SI without acento.

The pronunciation is the same, but only to distinguish the two words we write SÍ (with

an accent it means YES) and SI without an accent, it means ...

What does that mean?

IF in English.

And what does CUANDO mean?

"When" in English.

how do you use SI…?

and how do you use CUANDO?

CUANDO means WHEN.

It can be used to talk about WHEN something happens... "always" or "every time", por ejemplo:

Here both verbs are also conjugated in PRESENTE.

QUERER = si tú quieres ... and PODER = yo puedo ...

Si (nosotros) vamos al cine, (yo) como palomitas de maíz.

So, in such sentences, if we use SI it's IF in English, and in this case when we are talking

about the present we also use PRESENTE INDICATIVO in Spanish…

Correct… we can also conjugate the second verb in FUTURO, when we're talking about

the future.

Si Cristalina cocina, la comida estará rica.

Here the verb in the main clause (COCINAR) is conjugated in Presente: Si Cristalina cocina

...

And the verb in the subordinate clause (ESTAR) conjugated in Futuro Simple: ... la comida

estará rica.
