Youtube daily report w Oct 6 2018

The Last Jedi broke a lot of new ground for the Star Wars franchise.

It gave Luke Skywalker his first speaking role in the saga since 1983 and, perhaps most

importantly, brought fans closer to watching Chewbacca eat a comic relief alien than they

ever dreamed possible.

And while The Last Jedi really was a great movie, there are still a few points that we

couldn't quite wrap our heads around.

Sore losers

From the very start, George Lucas has credited Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand

Faces as his inspiration for the Star Wars mythos.

Campbell's book outlines the basic story structure of most heroic journeys in Western culture,

and told us why we always end up rooting for the protagonists.

In one word: tenacity.

But if that's what we like in our good guys, why do we keep rooting for the Jedi?

Luke tried to become a Jedi — and succeeded.

He also tried to blow up the Death Star — and he did that, too.

Then he tried to teach a new generation of Jedi, and it went so badly he flipped the

table and rage quit polite society.

What's likable about a hero who only keeps trying when he's always winning?

We've seen this before, of course, when Yoda couldn't beat the Emperor on the first go

and subsequently sulked off to live in a swamp for a few decades.

"Do or do not, there is no try" might make for a great inspirational poster, but in practice,

it's pretty fatalist and kind of whiny.

At least Yoda learned something in the end.

Forcing it

The Force: if it were easy, everyone would be doing it.

Nobody'd ever be able to find the droids they were looking for, the Mos Eisley cantina would

have padded walls for all the telekinetic bar fights, and Skee-Ball would become infinitely

easier.

Sadly, it's not the case that everyone can use it, and even the most sensitive Force

user needs intense training to harness their slick menagerie of space wizard powers.

You've gotta have a teacher if you're gonna use the Force.

Rey needed Luke.

Luke needed Yoda and Obi-Wan.

Leia needed, well, apparently Leia just needed a good kick into gear.

We get it.

We love Carrie Fisher, too.

She was amazing.

But it seems weird that all it took was a little jeopardy to suddenly become a vacuum-traversing

flesh-based escape pod.

"That's not how the Force work."

A hollow victory

Of the complaints fans had about The Last Jedi, one reigned supreme: Canto Bight.

But there was one aspect of this portion of the film that stands out as especially jarring

if you give it a few seconds' consideration.

Rose and Finn, looking for a way out of the city, climb onto a horse-like creature called

a fathier and make good their escape.

Rose is positively delighted that she and Finn managed to set the beasts loose and help

them to freedom.

But how did they do it?

By taking them 30 seconds outside town.

Unfortunately, the film makes a point of explaining that these animals are owned and abused by

the ultra-rich.

Freeing them would be like riding Seabiscuit into the parking lot of the race track, declaring

him free forever and then climbing into your sedan and driving away.

If you think there isn't going to be a search party herding those camel cats back home inside

of fifteen minutes, you're living in a science fantasy world.

Masters of disguise

Everybody loves a good disguise sequence, and Star Wars is no exception.

Luke and Han did it.

Lando and Leia did it.

Even Jyn and Cassian gave it a go.

But there are some times when it just doesn't work.

Towards the end of The Last Jedi, Rose, Finn, BB-8, and DJ infiltrate Snoke's Star Destroyer,

the Supremacy.

Their first move is to disguise themselves by donning the uniforms of the First Order's

military officers.

So far so good, right?

Well, considering these would be the first racially diverse First Order officers we've

seen so far in the saga — and considering Finn is still on the organization's Most

Wanted list — choosing disguises without masks or helmets might not have been a fantastic

idea.

It's just a shame there weren't any outfits nearby which are, say, notorious for covering

the faces of the wearer.

"Boring conversation anyway."

Police Are Using Social Media To Entrap People - Duration: 5:14.

When you to go any social media site, when you sign up, you create an account, you expect

that you're going to have a little bit of privacy there.

That your private information is exactly that, not just the information about where you live

and where you're from, but conversations you have with other people online.

But, as it turns out, you may not actually be having a conversation with another real

person who shares your interest.

You might be talking to a cop, who's investigating you or, at least, that's the conclusion of

a new report from Criminal Legal News written by a good friend of mine, Steve Horn.

Phenomenal article here, Mollye, something I never even thought of.

We've seen court cases regarding social media.

You can go to jail for things that you say publicly on there.

You can be fired from your job because of it.

But, now, it appears there's underground sting operations happening with law enforcement

officials on social media.

That's creepy to think about.

It is.

It's like the wild west.

You don't necessarily have an expectation of privacy is what they're finding on social

media.

That it's almost like, as a former courts and crime reporter myself, when you'd go out

to the scene of a crime you knew publicly where you could stand, where you couldn't

to get video, or to talk to people.

You didn't want to trespass.

Well, in social media, those boundaries are more blurred.

If you could stand out on the street and see something, then that was basically considered

public domain.

You were seeing what anybody could see passing by, so you weren't trespassing.

Well, in the world of social media, it's the same thing.

If you're putting all of your business and your pictures out there for anyone to see,

whether it's the public at-large or for your newsfeed through Facebook, Instagram, you

name your social media dujour.

But if you have it out there for anyone to see, then you don't have an expectation of

privacy.

Of course, we're talking about the Fourth Amendment, but the rub comes in, which I thought

was so interesting, like you mentioned earlier about your friend writing this, is that there

is some concern that what if you have an expectation of privacy because somebody's supposed to

friend request you?

Well, low and behold, it could be a cop that's friend requested you, or an investigator who's

looking into some other case involving you, perhaps, and so they pretend to be your friend.

You let them in, now they have access, but they wouldn't have had access otherwise to

potentially damaging information if they hadn't pretended to be your friend.

What's really creepy about it too is a lot of times, online, people are going to speak

in hyperbole.

They think they're talking amongst their friends.

You see a story of this horrible human being pop up and somebody says, "God, that guy shouldn't

be alive."

Right.

Okay, it's one thing to say that in front of your friends, or whatever, but a police

officer sees that, and suddenly that little innocuous statement ... You know you're not

going to do anything.

Right.

You just wanted to say it because you felt the anger.

That can be used against you.

That's something that they can bring up in court and say, "Okay, right here, you said

he should be alive anymore."

I bring up that statement, because I have seen that online.

Absolutely.

Not anybody saying they're going to make that happen, but, "God, this guy's a waste of

oxygen and he should stop breathing."

It's very creepy and the implications for this are huge, because something you say can

be easily taken out of context, used in an investigation, and can ruin somebody's life

just for something silly that they say without really thinking it through.

Right.

And you have that example, and then you have other people, potentially, committing crimes,

and yet their civil liberties are being violated all in the name of this investigation.

What you're finding, as journalists and advocacy, civil rights advocates, and other attorneys

are asking these exact same questions and bringing up these exact same points.

Saying, "Okay.

Well, where do we stop?

Where do we draw the line?

How can we legislatively keep up with technology, which happens in so many different fields

of our world these days, in our society."

But, in the world of social media, how can they pass legislation that protects people's

civil rights and their expectation of privacy?

How can they apply the Fourth Amendment in cases where it's applicable and then in other

cases decide, hey, you're on your own.

You put yourself in that position.

It's a free-for-all for law enforcement to try to get to the bottom of what you're doing,

if you're doing anything.

But it's interesting, because some municipalities, including Berkeley in California, are passing

laws to try to address it.

They're the first city council to adopt the surveillance and community safety ordinance,

something modeled after the ACLU.

Which, essentially, tries to determine if violating somebody's civil liberties outweighs

... Is it worth the price they're going to have to pay to bend their civil liberties

to get this information?

You know, there's a thin line.

I think it's a moving line, because if you have somebody that you know, like, okay, this

person's breaking the law.

We've got to get the evidence to take them in.

This is a bad person, we've got to get them off the streets.

But that bad person, actually, still has rights.

That's right.

We have law and order in this country, and jurisprudence, and there's a process.

But they always seem to want to push it, and push it, a little bit further to see what

they can get away with, and this seems like the latest push of things that they're pretty

much getting away with, right now.

Absolutely.

Again, it's the wild west when it comes to social media, so be careful what you put out

there, if you are up to no good.

Not trying to warn any criminals, but even if you weren't, like you said, you got to

be careful regardless because you never know who's listening or watching.

Absolutely.

It's a creepy time out there online.

It's always creepy online, but it's creepier than usual.

What is it like in rehab? - Duration: 10:18.

Six months in rehab! what is it like? I'm going to let you know! Welcome back to down

under and the South was Border! Before I go any further why don't you hit

subscribe so you can catch up on all the great stuff that this channel has to

offer. So I've recently come up to my halfway point at 180TC, a rehab in the Blue

Mountains of Australia. I'm very sorry for my infliction in my accent, that

makes it sound like I'm asking a question even when I'm not. It's just an

Australian thing. I'm up to the halfway point. I don't

have to stay here, but I probably will or I might not, I don't know. Things are going

pretty well on the whole. My first two months were really hard. You have

to do a bit of a digital detox. No phones, no computers, no internet, not much

contact with your friends and family on the outside, you don't get any leave for

the first two months, and only one 15-minute phone call a week, so, yeah it is hard. It

is especially hard for someone who thrives on creativity especially in

the digital realm and on the Internet.

However, as luck would have it at 180 TC there is a media department! How wierd is that?

I was actually able to pretty quickly get my hands on some video

cameras, video editing software and actually start teaching a media skills

class! That's pretty awesome! Who would have thought that I get to practice my

teaching skills and my media stuff? Stuff I can impart on to other people to tell

their own stories and make their own YouTube channels, to be a great influence on this

wonderful world that we live in. It has also been really hard not being able to

access Facebook, Messenger and whatsapp have a lot of friends

overseas, I can't make a phone call to, but I have written some letters, that's kind of

of weird, but cool.

Hello Sebastian, kisses! I guess this little bit of a digital

detox has made me think more about my social media escapades. I'm gonna make

really good content that helps people. I want to actually engage with you, I want

to engage with you on social on YouTube on all those things.

I'm more into quality engagement and quality video. With social media, like

anyone else, I was addicted to comparing myself with everyone else's

highlight reel, comparing it to my behind-the-scenes footage, which doesn't look

that great at the moment. It was nice to get a bit of space, to put

social media and it's the useful place. I do miss my tribe. I miss my

friends. I miss my social misfits. I miss my lovely friends. I am surrounded

by brothers, I've got a lot of really strong friendships here, but yeah I

miss the weirdos, I miss the freaks.

I just miss my tribe. I miss Netflix! Oh my god I miss Netflix so

fucking much! But at least I can just think of them saving

up. There a year worth of quality television! My god, can you imagine? I can!

And I'm looking forward to it! Don't tell me what happens with anything! I'm not

even going to tell you what I like, so you can't spoil it for me!

So what do I actually do in rehab? Lots of things! And lots of nothing too. Living

with 40 other dudes in the forrest, people who are at varying levels of being cooked,

this has its challenges, but I've also made friends for life.

Hi friends! It's a crazy, diverse bunch of guys from all kinds of different

backgrounds. I'm the only gay in the village at the moment. I think?

There's a lot of counselling, there's a lot of classes, there's a lot of stage work,

which helps you with dealing with your underlying issues before substance came

into the picture. We train, we do a lot of sports, we go into the pool, we go to the

river, we explore the wilderness, we do chores. We do manly things! Another interesting part of the

program is the spiritual aspect. So I may have mentioned Hillsong in another video

at some point. Well, that's the church they take us to here. It is

a little freaky at first, I can tell you now. But hey they actually do a lot of

good, they're not exactly taking money away from people that don't have

it. They're all pretty affluent there. ONE80TC wouldn't run without it. They do a

lot of good things for a lot of people struggling, so I can't really find a

fault. Do they have some kind of involvement with Gloria

Jeans Coffee? They can probably up their coffee game. Also, have you seen the

production values of that place? Good production values are next to godliness

apparently! It's cool man, I've had some pretty intense spiritual

experiences in here and at church which I can't explain.

I've had a series of strange coincidences that have led to a strange

conclusion that I could not have guessed. I can look back at

my life, at certain events, like meeting Bernardo. That was a God thing I think,

or the universe, or whatever you want to call it, but it seemed like it was like this

thing has to be, this thing has to happen! I've had a few things like that.

Hey man it could be a collective hypnosis for all I know, I could have

drank the kool-aid, but, I don't know it tastes good! I'm

definitely not a cookie cutter Christian. I'm still very sex positive, I have some

reservations about marriage. I think it's a way of trading goats to other people's

fathers more than anything else, but I recognize what Jesus has done

in my life, now and in the past. I guess I'm Christian with

Buddhist inclinations, I think that's the best way to put where I stand at the moment.

But more on the whole spirituality stuff in another episode, that's way too much

for this one. What am I actually hoping to get out of the next six months?

Well, I guess building my spiritual side, getting to know God a little better.

I wouldn't say sanity is going to be happening anytime soon, but hey!

Sanity is for ordinary people, but I am feeling a hell of a lot better in my own

skin. I've had plenty of success in here, I've had some real real triumphs, but

I've also had setbacks as well. I guess the big question is will I ever

drink again? I don't know, but I can never get drunk or annihilated, just

to stop feeling anything. I have to be present every day for the rest of my

life, I have to enjoy every moment with everyone. I have to feel connected with

people! I can't use isolation, I can't use work, I can't use self-harm,

I can't switch off, I can't disassociate, I can't drink to oblivion, that I can't

do! I'm using this time to address the wounds of the past but also to focus on

the future, a future better than anything I could have dreamed of! I'm studying how

to teach English as a foreign language, not just so I can travel or not so I

can just move in with the boyfriend in Mexico or something like that. I'm doing

this to help people, I'm going to actually make a difference in the world!

I could do this in a refugee camp, I can do this anywhere! I am actually

going to be a force for good out there, and I want to give back, I want to give

back to a world that's given me so much! I'm going to do that by using my skills I'm

learning as a teacher and the media skills I can hope

to impart, to help some of those people to help them tell their stories. I'm going

to be able to teach English as a foreign language,

that's going to be something that's going to help people out of their

economic situations and give them a whole new world! I can't wait

to learn Spanish! The Spanishverse! There's so many books and so much

poetry and so many people to meet that don't speak English! It's a whole other

world! The Espenolaverse! and I hope that these videos, by being

my authentic self and showing what I'm going through as a struggling human

being, as we all are, that I can help create some solidarity out there. And I

can help bring different communities together, people that might not always

see eye to eye. Maybe Christians and people in the LGBTQ community who don't

always see eye to eye, obviously. To help reconcile people

with each other and just show us all as struggling humans that are slowly

getting better. So, why am I being so public about all this? Well, it's not

actually to be the centre of attention as you may think.

I've been defined, consistently over the years, by how I fit into other people's

lives. I'm a good little boy, or the pretty boy, or the handbag, or the victim,

or the crazy guy, or even as Bernardo's boyfriend. Although we had

our shared dreams for the future, at least initially I was just going to be

defined as Bernardo's boyfriend. I was to move to his country, probably inherit some of his

friends and family and all that kind of stuff, and it would have been weird I think.

It's time to make my own mark in the world, so the next half of the journey is

going to be consolidating what I've learnt already and really planning for

the future, where I'm going and what I'm going to do. I have such a confidence in

the future now, you have no idea! Before yeah I was going to do it, but it was

kind of a pipe dream still. But now, I'm like "No this IS going to

happen man!" And I'm very excited about it! My whole life people have been trying to

take away my agency, my power in situations, and they've been largely successful.

Even taking away my freedom, and some of them are attempting to do it now, but

now is my time, and I fucking love myself way too much to let that ever happen

again. so I'm going to make a difference with my teaching skills and with my media

skills, and with just being my authentic self with people. In the next few months I'm

going to finish my English teaching certificate and I'm going to start

looking for jobs in Colombia and in Mexico, wherever! It's going to be brilliant and

I'm going to take you with me! So if you want to support me at this time, please

send me a message, leave a comment below, and subscribe to the channel! Please

subscribe! I would subscribe to you, you know that! Just keep me in your prayers,

give me your best wishes, whatever. That would mean a lot to me. I'm going to

start posting regularly again, finally finishing telling my story of how I

got here, and every couple of weeks I'll give you an update of how I'm going in

here. it's great to be back guys, love you all!

Choosing a Unique Event Venue To Make a Memorable Statement - Duration: 2:57.

- Choosing a unique event venue

can really wow guests as well as

show of the personality of our brand,

it's one of our favorite trends

that we are seeing this year.

(gentle music)

Hey I'm Katie with Endless Events

and something we are seeing a lot more recently

is the use of untraditional event venues.

It's a really cool concept that we are loving because

it really allows you to think outside the box.

As an event planner,

it's going to push out of your comfort zone,

it's going to push your creativity

and it will really set you apart from

the competition and show that

you are capable of planning more then one type of event.

A couple things to consider when you are

choosing a unique event venue

is space is there going to be enough space for everybody

that is attending.

This is something you should never compromise on

you want participants to be comfortable and safe.

So always keep that in the back of your mind

and the other is natural light,

you want to make sure that there is enough natural light

because this really effects the mood

and the engagement of participants

and although the venue maybe

dark and mysterious and go along with your brand

just make sure there is enough natural light available

at various places in the venue.

So think about the brand that your working with

what type of business is it,

what is the goal of the event

and use these things when choosing your venue

so for example,

a modern art studio would be really cool

for a fashion forward brand.

And then an eco-friendly place may work well

a brand that focuses on sustainability.

So just a little fun fact,

is that the venue is as crucial as

the actually event content when people are

deciding whether or not to go to attend an event.

Keeping that in mind,

you really want to give that wow factor first impression

right when they get to the event.

You can consider utilizing outdoor space

if you have it outside of your venue

for pre-conference activities and networking

and things like that.

And just remember,

when ever your doing outside activities

make sure you have a contingency plan

it case there is bad weather,

It's always important to remember that.

So get creative and think about

things you walk past everyday,

like a parking lot where you can have food trucks

or a rooftop where guest can enjoy a sunset,

all of these are really fun, creative ideas.

Some other things we love are

fitness studios, planetariums

and drive-in theaters.

If you want to learn more about

choosing a unique event venue

and if you want to hear about our

top favorite pick of event venues around the world

you can head to our blog,

favorite 2018 event trends that we are seeing

and we want to know if you ever

planned an event at a really cool unique venue,

Liverpool news: Kyle Walker makes bold Mo Salah claim ahead of Man City clash at Anfield - Duration: 4:08.

As the strike duo prepare to go head-to-head at Anfield today, Walker believes Aguero's deadly seven-year scoring spree has made Manchester City the force they are

The England defender said: "I'd rather mark Salah every day of the week. Having played against Aguero when I was at Tottenham, I can assure you he's a complete nightmare to play against

"You think he's not interested in the game and all of a sudden it's in the back of the net

He has that quality. "He's done it year in and year out. He is always up there scoring the most goals in the Premier League

"He probably carried City for a lot of years with the goals he has scored." City boss Pep Guardiola reckons Kop star Salah can't be compared to Aguero yet because he's so far a one-season wonder

The Egyptian, who scored an astonishing 44 goals for Liverpool last season, has three in 10 games this campaign – half his total at this stage a year ago, while Aguero is already on eight

In all but one of his seven years at City, Aguero has scored 28 or more, peaking at 33 in 2016-17

That consistency is why Guardiola reckons his man is still the goal king. The City boss said: "Salah is younger

It was his first year back in England since his time at Chelsea, so we will see in the future, but a guy who has the quality to score 50 goals in a season always has that quality

"Football is all about ups and downs. Salah remains an excellent player and will score goals in the future

Sergio has scored a lot of goals but there were periods when he didn't score. "How many years has Sergio scored all those goals, eight or nine? For Salah it was the first one, so we will see in seven or eight years

Sergio's huge value comes from being consistent over many, many years. "It is about being consistent every three days for 11 months

The big, big players around Europe do that." Having whacked 10-man Liverpool 5-0 a year ago, Guardiola's men lost the return at Anfield 4-3 before Jurgen Klopp's side won both legs of their quarter-final tie in the Champions League

And Walker revealed City want to smash that bogey-team tag. "Now we have to go to Anfield and put that to bed," he said

"There are loads of reasons why the games didn't go our way. That's a learning curve

"They've got world-class forwards. If they do score, let's not panic or try to rush

If you go to Anfield with fear you're already fighting a losing battle. "We have to quieten the crowd, which is always their twelfth man, and play our football

"We're the champions. We have a point to prove. We tore the Premier League apart by getting 100 points, scoring 103 goals and breaking records

We can't rest on that now. The first thing we want is back-to-back titles – not many have done that

Man Utd news: You won't believe what Jose Mourinho said to the press after Newcastle win - Duration: 2:51.

Manchester United found themselves two goals down to Newcastle at Old Trafford today after Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto stuck early to pile the pressure on Jose Mourinho

However, just a day after sack reports surrounding Mourinho's future emerged, his players delivered for him

Manchester United got themselves back in the game courtesy of Juan Mata's pinpoint free-kick

Anthony Martial then levelled before Alexis Sanchez, on from the bench, headed them 3-2 in front

Mourinho walked into his post-match press conference with that old glinting look in his eye

And he mischievously said: "Sorry guys," to those in the room. That was Jose Mourinho's way of mocking the sack reports and apologising for the stirring comeback his team produced

He then opened up about the sack claims and revealed he had been texted by the United hierarchy

"The ones that read the papers, that are connected with social media, they thought maybe I had gone," he said

"If I hadn't had an SMS from my board not to read I would have been convinced too

" Mourinho also lauded the United crowd. "I'm amazed by that at half time we were losing 2-0 and the fans were magnificent to the team," he said

"I used to say in my football memories that one day I beat Liverpool in Anfield 4-0

"And I was amazed with the stadium singing Liverpool songs, I was amazed and full of respect by that

"But now I'm in a situation I'm losing 2-0 at home in a match that was very important for us to win and the fans were absolutely amazing

"I'm really grateful for that and my happiness is not because of myself, it is because of the fans and the players

"They can go to the national team with a good feeling and the fans can go home with a feeling of victory

"

laws passed across the United States.

A great--finally--move.

Something happened, right?

I mean we've had so many mass shootings.

They finally took this last one, where there was huge public backlash.

Backlash from the victims themselves.

Now we're finally getting some new gun control laws, but is it enough?

That's where we're at right now.

I guess we'll start with the positive.

50 new gun control laws across the country.

Great start.

It is.

It's fascinating.

You have states like Vermont.

Typically a state with some of the loosest gun control laws in the country.

They're passing a whole series of laws that regulate them.

Everything from expanding a ban on carrying guns in the schools as well as red flag laws,

which you and I were talking about earlier.

A red flag law is basically a law that attempts to take weapons away from somebody who may

be a registered gun owner if they're showing signs of maybe mental illness or some other

signs of violence or that could potentially lead to violence.

There's a whole series of red flag laws.

Some that did get passed, others that didn't.

Florida was among the ones.

They were known as the state that again was super pro gun, that the NRA was known to wield

a lot of influence as in other states across the Union, but certainly Florida.

We're the originator of the Stand Your Ground law.

The downside also aside from all these new laws that have been passed to regulate guns

is that you have seen some other states that have managed to beef up their gun protection

laws.

Their gun ownership protection laws.

Right.

We've seen not just Trayvon Martin.

People need to understand, the Stand Your Ground law is used somewhere in the state

every day.

Every day.

Over a parking lot fight the other day or a parking space fight.

Right.

That is really out of control, but 50 new gun control laws.

It took a few dozen ... 17 kids getting killed, plus one of the staffers at that school to

finally get something done, but we've had so many mass shootings that seem to be getting

more.

The death tolls for them seems to be getting higher.

I think one of the real problems here is the red flag laws are great.

The things that say, "If you exhibit any kind of signs ..." Maybe you beat your spouse.

Perhaps you got Baker Acted and had to go on a psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

That's a great start, but we have to get these high-powered rifles, assault weapons, semiautomatic

... Those have to go.

Those serve no purpose here in the United States for civilians.

People say, "Well it's my only protection against the tyrannical government."

Okay.

The government has jets and nukes.

You are outgunned regardless.

Yeah.

If you could shoot 800 rounds a minute, you're still dead if the government decided to do

that, which they're not.

But anyway, it's the gun culture and it's the NRA fighting back against these laws.

What we've seen recently is the NRA come out and say, "We're on the verge of bankruptcy.

We don't have any money.

Oh, no.

Poor us!"

I know.

There's no money for them.

But that could be part of the reason laws are actually getting passed now.

That's exactly right.

If the NRA is feeling a squeeze, they may not have as much influence.

Well, and as we've seen in everything from the FOX News exposes, the #MeToo Movement,

pointing fingers at powerful people, media figures that have been accused of sexual harassment,

it took going after their advertisers to get the companies that were employing these individuals

to change their ways.

It looks like these kids at Parkland who organized so quickly ... Things that I've read really

give them a lot of credit for keeping public interest in this topic alive because they

did organize so quickly after the shooting.

They immediately went to Tallahassee, the capital of Florida.

Then they immediately organized other groups around the state.

It is that youth interest.

I think they're the ones that are going to have to go change it in the voting booth.

They're the ones that are going to have to register to vote.

They're already successfully doing that.

Getting kids across the country to register to vote.

You're going to have to vote a lot of these politicians out of office who have been protecting

the NRA and their interests as opposed to the interest of the general public.

You did mention that, "Why now?"

I think that is one of the reasons why now is because the Parkland kids grew up in this

era of red flag alerts, if you will, of having to hide under their desks, worried about an

active shooter coming into their classroom.

This is a very real topic for them.

Maybe even more so than any other generation.

They are less influenced by the NRA than perhaps your lobbyists in the capitols.

It'll be interesting to see if they can actually pull this off, but it is going to take going

to the voting booth to do it, I think.

Absolutely.

Midterms are right around the corner.

They have the power.

I think the youth voter registration in the state of Florida has surged by 40%.

A little over 40% since Parkland.

It's the highest youth voter registration surge in the country.

That's excellent news.

Here in the state of Florida.

That's a good start.

As you pointed out, it's because these kids didn't want to be victims, but more importantly,

they don't want anybody else to have to go through what they went through.

They know that's the reality today because of who we have both at state government and

the federal government.

Right.

So this is a start.

More work ahead, but congrats to them for getting the ball rolling.

Absolutely.

They deserve all the credit for this.
