In our previous video we covered king Alfred's surprise victory over the
Vikings at Edington in 878. This victory both ensured the survival of his kingdom
and allowed the West Saxons the breathing room needed to prepare for the
inevitable next invasion. Though Guthrum retired to East Anglia after the
battle, Wessex still faced potential attack from elsewhere. Just as Guthrum
had successfully carved himself out a kingdom well over a decade after the
initial arrival of the Great Heathen Army, another could just as easily come
and do the same.
Alfred spent the 880s converting the various market towns of his kingdom
into 'burhs' which would act as fortified safe-havens and meeting points for local militias.
Alfred also forged a lasting alliance with the portion of Mercia still under
Anglo-Saxon control, now under the rule of a warlord of unknown origins named
Æthelred, after the death of King Ceolwulf in around 879. The alliance was
sealed by the marriage of Alfred's eldest daughter Æthelflæd to Æthelred
in the early 880s, who began to rule as a vassal of Wessex.
Alfred also achieved a similar arrangement with the southern Welsh
kingdoms during this time, whose rulers were hemmed in by the expansionist sons
of Rhodri the Great in Gwynedd and Powys. The most powerful of these
northern Welsh kings, Anarawd ap Rhodri may have allied himself with the Vikings
of York against Wessex before eventually accepting West Saxon vassalage,
thus securing Alfred's western border.
Ultimately Guthrum kept the peace with Wessex until his death in 890.
However, just 2 years later the burh system would face its first real test
when two massive fleets of raiders comprising of over 300 longboats under a
sea-king named Hastein arrived on the Kentish shore.
Yet times had changed over the last decade, and Wessex held out. By 896
Hastein's men either left Britain entirely or dispersed into East Anglia.
The burh system had worked. Upon his death in 899 Alfred left his kingdom to
his eldest son and heir Edward. The succession was not smooth, as Alfred's
nephew Æthelwold also made his claim. He fled north to
the Northumbrian Danelaw, where he was enthusiastically accepted
by the local rulers, who were apparently happy to finally conquer the last
Anglo-Saxon kingdom once and for all. Æthelwold gathered an army in
Northumbria, and by 901 or 902 sailed south to Essex. He gained a valuable ally
in the Viking king of East Anglia Eohric. Together they conducted a raid deep into Mercia.
By December 902 Edward had also raised an army, likely comprised of West
Saxons, Mercians and Kentishmen, and his forces finally succeeded in catching
Æthelwold in a vicious battle in the marshy lowlands near the River Holme.
By day's end it was the Danes who emerged victorious, yet they paid a heavy toll
for their victory: East Anglian king Eohric and Æthelwold were both killed.
With Æthelwold out of the way Edward could now finally focus on consolidating
his rule at home. In the western portion of Mercia meanwhile Æthelred and Æthelflæd
had been busy too, following the example set by Alfred in fortifying the
frontier with the Danelaw by building burhs wherever they could.
As part of Ethelred's marriage arrangement with Æthelflæd, Alfred had given the
Mercians control of the city of London, a hefty source of income. Together
the two rulers oversaw a revival of Mercian power in a reduced area, and
Æthelflæd in particularly became extremely popular amongst her adopted
people. Yet soon enough the Mercians would be forced to go on the defensive once again.
Just as Edward had been fighting his cousin in 902, a mass exodus of Vikings
from Ireland had led to the settlement of a large group of exiles in the lands
just to the north of the Mercian held town of Chester, an old Roman fortress.
The Mercians may have hoped that these Irish Vikings to act as a buffer against
the ever-present threat of the Danelaw. But by 907 these Vikings had aligned
themselves with the Danelaw to besiege Chester.
When the Mercian army went north to deal with this new threat, it was Æthelflæd
leading them, as Æthelred was incapacitated due to illness.
What happened next is unclear, but the Mercians defeated the Vikings at Chester, and
now Æthelflæd, Æthelred who was firmly in control. The Mercians were going on the offensive.
At that time Edward's son Æthelstan was being fostered by his aunt Æthelflæd in
Mercia. In 909 he led a raid deep into Viking territory to retrieve the relics
of the famed Northumbrian king Oswald. His army also took the opportunity to
pillage the lands of Lindsey for five weeks before the Vikings in York could react.
We are going to talk about Æthelstan him in much more detail in the next episode.
In 910, the Northumbrians retaliated, launching a massive raid deep
into Mercia. They ravaged the countryside and loaded up on plunder before
beginning the journey back north. It was then, at a place named Tettenhall , that a
combined West Saxon-Mercian army caught the Vikings by surprise. In the ensuing
bloodbath the entire leadership of the Viking force was killed, crippling York for years to come.
Tettenhall was a turning point in many ways. It was around
this time that Æthelred finally passed away, and quite astonishingly, despite
being a woman in a militaristic male-dominated society, Æthelflæd was
chosen as his successor, ruling under the title 'Lady of the Mercians'. However, soon
she was also forced to relinquish control of London to Wessex. Æthelflæd would
continue to rule, though as she had no male heir, it was the beginning of the
end for independent Mercia. For the next eight years she tirelessly dedicated her
time to building burhs not only along the frontier with the Five Boroughs to
the east, but also against the Welsh kingdoms to the west. A state of
perpetual warfare existed with the Five Boroughs of Eastern Mercia during this time,
with occasional raids recorded from the towns of Leicester and Bedford into
Western Mercia. Edward meanwhile was finally ready to
go on the offensive against the Vikings on his own borders. Between 911
and 913 he moved his forces by land and by sea into Essex, fortifying
the town of Maldon and attempting to bring the area under full West Saxon control. For the
first time since the coming of the Northmen, Wessex was gaining new lands
and Maldon would become a base from which he could attack East Anglia.
Yet in 914, any potential attacks Æthelflæd or Edward might have wanted to make
suddenly came crashing to a standstill. Across the channel in Brittany a massive
Viking fleet had just conquered the entire region, extinguishing its ruling
family, and now, under the leadership of two warlords named Rold and Otir
was coming to Britain. Sailing up through the Bristol Channel they headed into the
River Severn in an attempt to take the Mercians by surprise. Yet once again,
Æthelflæd was ready for them, pushing them out of Mercia and into Wales,
and killing Rold in the process. Edward pursued Otir and his remaining vessels all
the way to the island of Flatholme near Cardiff
where he blockaded him for weeks. Finally, Otir gave up on England and went across the sea to Ireland.
The stage was now set for the final confrontation of the war. By 914 Edward too was making
inroads into the Five Boroughs, forcing the submission of some of the Vikings of Bedford and Northampton.
By 917, both Edward and Æthelflæd were ready for
their final assaults upon the Vikings. A large force of Danes from the southern
portion of the Five Boroughs allied themselves with the East Anglians, who finally
decided to make a move. They attempted to mirror the success of the Saxons by
building their own burh at Tempsford in Bedfordshire. Within weeks however
Edward's forces stormed the burh, killed the East Anglian king, and swept onwards
to take the whole of East Anglia and South-eastern Mercia.
Æthelflæd was also on the move. In mid-917 she marched her now elite army
across the border and directly towards the borough of Derby where they laid
siege to the town. After a fierce battle, the town fell, and with it, large swathes
of eastern Mercia. By 918, Leicester was the next to submit, followed by the other
three boroughs of Stamford, Nottingham and Lincoln. Under Æthelflæd, Mercia had
finally completed its reconquest and now found itself with nearly the same borders
as it had prior to the coming of the Vikings, yet she didn't stop there.
By the Summer of 918, the Vikings of York agreed to submit to Æthelflæd.
Ultimately, the deal never materialised, as Æthelflæd passed away that same year.
She was succeeded by her only child, a daughter named Ælfwynn.
By 918 all of England south of the Humber was under the Anglo-Saxon control. Edward marched
north to Tamworth to seize Ælfwynn. She was placed in a monastery for life, and
Mercia was finally incorporate into Edward's growing kingdom.
Then, like Alfred before him, Edward achieved the fealty of the five Welsh Kingdoms, thus
uniting most of the lands south of the Humber for the first time in history.
All that remained in England under the Viking control was the kingdom of Northumbria,
and it would have become the next target of Edward. Though just as Edward was
annexing Mercia into his ever-growing Anglo-Saxon realm, the Dublin Norse,
members of the soon to be feared Uí Ímair dynasty of Ireland, annexed York in
a lightning attack. This created a new threat to the bourgeoning united England.

This Photo Of A Bald Eagle Perched On A Soldier's Gravestone Is Going Viral! - Duration: 2:07.
This Photo Of A Bald Eagle Perched On A Soldier's Gravestone Is Going Viral!
Amateur photographer Frank Glick was on his way to work when he drove through Fort Snelling
National Cemetery early one morning.
He spotted a bald eagle through the mist, perched on a gravestone, and snapped shots
with his aging but ever-present camera.
It's going viral!
Jon Tevlin of the Star Tribune notes that requests for the photo, and use of the story,
have come from the Department of Veterans Affairs, military publications, Arlington
National Cemetery.
Soldiers in Afghanistan have inquired about the photo, including some from the Screaming
Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Bagram Airfield.
An acquaintance saw the photo and suggested that he see if the deceased soldier had any
living relatives who might want it.
Indeed, Maurice Ruch's widow was alive and well and delighted to receive a copy of the
eagle watching over her beloved husband.
"It's just got some quality about it," said Glick.
"Sure, I wouldn't mind getting rich off of it, but that probably isn't happening.
It makes people feel better.
It makes them feel warm and fuzzy.
That's what it's for."
This letter, from Atlanta, was typical:
"You have no idea just how much this photo and story mean to so many of us who have served.
We do not ask for special treatment; we do not ask for your gratitude; we don't even
ask for your patience when we occasionally 'geeze' with old stories.
We would like to have some understanding just how much service to this great nation means
to each of us.
Your picture and story show me that some do understand."

14 Weeks Pregnant - 14 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms - Pregnancy Week by Week - Duration: 5:59.
14 weeks pregnant – what to expect.
At 14 weeks, your baby is now about 8.5cm long (that's almost as big as your iPhone).
At the start of trimester two, she'll start to use
her facial muscles to smile and grimace, and will have fully developed genitals.
Here's all you need to know about what your baby and your body is doing at 14 weeks pregnant.
What's my baby doing at fourteen weeks pregnant?
Your baby is now standing up straight and her neck is getting longer, helping the head
stand more erect.
At 14 weeks, your little one could be growing some hair, although her
hair colour might not be determined until birth and her eyebrows are filling in.
At this stage, your little one will also have hair all over her body called lanugo, which
helps keep her warm.
Luckily, this will disappear later in pregnancy, once she gets some more body fat.
Around now, your growing baby will have her first wee!
As she starts to swallow little bits of amniotic fluid, they will pass into her stomach.
The kidneys will start to work
and the swallowed fluid will pass back into the amniotic fluid as urine.
Although she gets all the oxygen she needs via the umbilical cord, at week 14, your baby
will start
to practise her breathing – an important skill for when she's born!
Other developments this week include the development of the roof of your baby's mouth, and her
intestines will start to produce meconium – this is the substance that makes
those first few nappy changes black and tar-like.
Other facts to know about your baby in week 14.
Size-wise, your little one is around 8.3 cm long or around half a banana in length, weighing
43 grams.
A male foetus can get erections in the womb from 16 weeks.
Finger prints have formed on your baby's tiny hands.
What is my body doing at fourteen weeks pregnant?
Welcome to trimester two!
This is the time most pregnant women enjoy the most and there's a few reasons why.
You'll probably feeling a bit more like your pre-pregnant self,
the morning sickness should have eased off and your breasts (hopefully) aren't quite
as tender.
Even better, this week, you'll probably start noticing that cute baby bump.
Your uterus is finally rising out of the pelvic region and into your low abdomen.
You'll have
started producing more blood from the beginning of your pregnancy, but from around now, they'll
be more blood cells as well as fluid in the blood stream.
This can cause
swelling, so you might notice your rings feel tighter and your legs and ankles look like
you've been on a long-haul flight.
For some women, around this time of their pregnancy they'll experience round ligament
pain.
This is a fancy way of saying pregnancy growing pains, which will feel like achy
or sharp pains on one or both sides of the abdomen.
This is normal, and is caused by the ligaments supporting your womb stretching and thinning
out to accommodate the
increasing weight.
You'll probably only notice it when you're getting up, stretching or twisting and the
best way to get some relief is by putting your feet up in a
comfortable position.
Facts to know about you in week 14.
In the second half of pregnancy, your baby will urinate half a litre and every 45 minutes.
Over the course of the pregnancy, the uterus stretches from the size of a peach to roughly
the size of a medium watermelon.
Even in pregnancy, hearing a baby cry can release oxytocin which causes your milk-making
cells to contract.
Nasal congestion is commonly experienced during this stage of pregnancy by 30 % of women.
14 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms.
Catching a cold.
Just when a few of your symptoms started to ease off, the second trimester brings a whole
host of new ones to worry about!
One of these is being more susceptible to colds and
flu.
At the moment, your immune system is weaker, but this is a good thing as it stops your
body from rejecting your foetus.
On the other hand, this makes you more likely to
pick up bugs, so be sure to wash your hands and carry hand sanitiser whenever you go.
If you do feel like you are coming down with something, get in touch with your GP as
soon as you can.
Increased appetite.
Now you've stopped feeling so sick, you feel constantly hungry.
Remember to continue to eat healthy meals throughout the day, and avoid binging on sugary
snacks, no matter
how much your baby is craving them!
Varicose veins.
These are large, swollen blood vessels which show up on your legs.
Although they might not look too nice, they are caused by the extra blood your body is
producing to look
after your baby.
Minimise the appearance of these veins by keeping the blood circulating round your body
by walking throughout the day.
Stuffy nose.
The high levels of oestrogen and progesterone cause the mucous membranes in the body (including
the nose) to swell and soften.
This can leave you with a stuffy nose, but rest assured, it's normal.

My Views on the Yuta's Response Video (Response to "That Japanese Man Yuta") - Duration: 20:23.
So this video is my response to That Japanese man YuTa.
For those who don't know what's going on,
a few days ago, a Japanese YouTuber Yuta
he uploaded a response video
about my videos about black people I uploaded quite long time ago.
Only For this 3 days alone,
More than 20 people sending me the link and saying like,
"Hey! Racist! Just watch this and go fuck yourself"
"See! Yuta is our side. You're completely loser, Scumbag!"
"Nobita, you're totally wrong. Because Yuta is saying this"
As soon as they found a big influence YouTuber
opposing my opinions,
they immediately jump on the wagon
and start attacking me again using his words as a credit.
And so many people are really happy now,
"Nobita pissed off even Yuta"
and now they're hating each other just like China and Japan.
That's completely wrong. I don't take it personally at all.
And We still talk each other and have a drink together as a friend.
I'm sure he's gonna not take it personally either
but my big concern is
his many fans watching this get triggered
"Oh my gosh, my favorite YouTuber is attacked by a racist."
So let me make this clear
I'm not against Yuta as a person
I'm simply opposing his opinions, not personality.
Actually, there're definitely some good points I do agree with
and I need to apologize for that.
Anyway, let's get started
If you haven't watched his video yet,
I want you to check it out first.
So you get all the context.
Yes, this is definitely what I went wrong.
So Let me tell now
who I was talking about exactly, specially
I still believe that these people may be dangerous for Japan
As you might already know,
In the videos about black people I uploaded,
I often talk about something only happening in the US
and the title and description are saying like that
So I thought I don't need to specify those people
my audience already know who I'm talking about
since majority of my audience are from the US
More importantly,
I didn't really know what I should call those people
so I just said black people, referring to those people
That was my huge mistake
I wish I could go back
If I don't clearly specify like this,
many people think I'm talking about all the entire black people
all over the world
Let me tell you one of possible reasons
why I made the stupid mistake
As a Japanese person,
I'm really used to non-verball communication
which is completely the opposite from western style communication
In a conversation, we often omit and simplify something
and rather than words,
we often communicate
based on the context and situation
I'm really used to that
So actually, Japanese people tend to make this kind of mistake all the time
maybe you already know
But that's a shitty excuse. I know that
That was completely my fault
My apologies for that
By the way, let me emphasize this part
I'm not gonna argue white privilege actually exists or not
That's not my focus
Whether it's real or not is one thing
But believing it or not is another
Because even if that's true,
as long as you don't believe that,
And the idea of white privilege and systemic racism itself,
if you bring up that here,
that's dangerous for Japan
I know this looks too angry
and crazy white supremacist
But I want you to understand that
I said in that way, because I really don't want you to believe white privilege
even if that's true
So the question is, can you justify discrimination?
Of course, No
Now believe or not,
I never said you can justify discrimination
just based on the statistics
I know it sounded like that
I'm gonna blame you you misunderstood
but I never actually meant that
And if you really don't like racial profiling
and you really wanna change discrimination based on the color,
If you do nothing and just whining about that,
Yes, I do think maybe you're asking too much
Now, let me ask you if you live in the US
When some tragedy happens by black people like this,
do you see many black people strongly condemning those black people?
I'm sure some do
but correct me if I'm wrong
majority of the liberal black people who are strongly agasint racism
As long as that racism is toward white people,
they're just quiet
And some people even saying like this
I'm really shocked even a public person saying that
But This is just one example
liberal black people not taking the black crimes seriously.
OK, let's say Japanese people committed so many crimes
What I'm gonna do is
I would be strongly strict to Japanese people.
And at least do something to reduce the crimes
until the bad stereotype ends
It all comes down to this
If people see the crime rate is actually dropping,
I'm sure they're gonna give you discrimination anymore
I know some people do, but not most people
Because at this point, they don't have the reason.
When Logan Paul was behaving dispectfully in Japan,
so many foreigners including many white people
were strongly condemning and treating him like a crimminal
When something like that happens by a black person in the US,
I don't see many liberal black people accusing the criminal
Again, some do. I know that
But not marority
my biggest issue is
they don't talk about black on black crime
and seriously work on the issue
Attacking another group instead
is not gonna solve anything
If you wanna stop racial discrimination,
Don't get me wrong
Discrimination cannot be justified no matter what
But in my opinion,
it doesn't mean you can just be whining about that
and do nothing
Yes, That's completely right.
So I actually apologized about that before
although Yuta didn't show that part
But let me apologize again
Yes. anyone can play the victim
Not just liberal African Americans
However, based on my experience in Japan and New Orleans,
I have to say this
Now, it's important to keep in mind that
my experience is totally different from Yuta's and yours
Just because your experience with black peoole is really positive,
t doesn't mean every single black person in the US is a good person
And this is my YouTube channel, right?
Just like you can talk about anything on your channel or blog,
at least on my channel,
I should be allowed to talk about anything based on my experience
not yours
Don't get me wrong
Talking with many black people,
I found so many positive qualifies as well
For example, the black people I met
they were mostly really patient about my horrible English
Keep in mind, when I was in New Orleans,
my English was way more horrible than now
I've met so many foreigners who can't take my English
and just making fun of my accent and prononciation
But the most black people I met
patiently wait until I finish the sentence
willing to listen what I'm trying to say
which I really appreciate that
I found they have so many good qualities
I can actually talk about that forever.
Because I know in the long term,
that's gonna be more beneficial for you
even though that's gonna hurt your feelings at that moment
and maybe you gonna hate me a lot
As you know, talking about race is kinda tattoo
especially in front of black people
at least in the US
Many people are afraid of saying something negative to them
But when I actually saw their problems,
something in common
I couldn't just hold it back
Why? Because I personally really care about black people
since my best friend happens to be a black person
Now believe or not,
I do not think
people who disagree with me are all stupid
and only my opinion is true
I know it sounded like that
the way I said
But I never actually think like that
By the way, this is what I noticed
When you say something strongly that people really agree with,
they think you are passionate
But if that's something they don't wanna hear
even if you say exactly the same thing
they think that you are too angry
scary and you're just doing a hate speech
OK, I said in the too aggressive way
or too emotional way or whatever you call it
hat's Because I was really sinking tired of the media and people
I really don't understand that
Why do they treat black people like weak people?
That's completely wrong
They don't need a special treatment or sympnachy
So many successful black people already prove that
Anyway, let me clarify this again
I do not think people opposing my opinions are stupid or anything like that
If you wanna disagree, that's totally OK
I know I look too angry, but that's actually totally OK
But seems like it's not OK for some people
which is really said
where is the Free Speech?
I've had a lot of conversations with people
who strongly disagree with me
Actually, it's quite rare
to meet someone having the same opinion as me
I'm deeply sorry for your friend, Yuta
But Here is my issue
It seems like you're assuming
her color is the reason
How do you know that?
Did you actually ask them and make sure that
her color is the reason?
Maybe that's because of other factors, right?
You see, this is what annoys me.
When something bad happened to you
many people just assume
that's because you're black
Anyway, since Yuta shared his personal story,
let me share my personal story as well
In Tokyo, there's a street, it's called Takeshita street
And on the street,
there're always bunch of black guys
Actually, you can also see that at a certain area in Shibuya
And one of female Japanese friends
She was really scared and she said
she will never go there again
Unfortunately, she is not the only vicim
Many other Japanese people as well
I'm not saying only black people commit a crime like that.
But here is my point
As you might already know,
on that street, Japanese police officers often go around
as well as Roppongi and Shibuya
I know this is just a possibility
It's unlikely to be true
But maybe
maybe the police officer actually saw the crime by a black person
and because of that,
My question is
which one should be to blame more?
What the police officer did to her was not OK
but who should you're angry to more?
We all know discrimination is really bad
But as a human being, we're not perfect
We often do something subconsciously based on the past experience
I'm really wondering why she didn't ask the police officer
why only she is questioned
That's because she couldn't speak Japanese enough?
I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but If that's the case
she is also to blame
if she's a foreign resident or immigrant
because you're just able to speak Japanese
you're more likely to do well with this kind of situation
Yes, I do agree with that
but that's under the condition of these two
I know this sounds too strict
, maybe I'm asking too much but this is my strong belief
If you don't execute these two
I don't think you deserve to have
exactly the same rights as other Japanese people
By the way, I'm not talking about toursits, I'm talking about foreign residents or immigrants
As a Japanese teacher,
I've seen that kind of discrimination all the time
Many of my students have an experience like that
especially in a workpalce
But I found In most cases
that's simply because they don't speak Japanese enough
Maybe it doesn't bother some Japanese people like Yuta
speaking fluent English and traveling around
and seeing many other cultures
But what about other most Japanese people?
They don't speak English well
And quite many Japanese have never been to another country
foreigners who don't even speak the same language
do you really think those people are completely OK for Japanese people
and they have exactly the same rights?
Of course, they're not gonna complain in front of you
but deep inside, maybe you're annoyed
What Yuta says sounds really good to you
but maybe that's because you're a foreigner side
I don't care if you're foreigners or minority
I don't even speak the same language and appreciate the culture,
I don't think you're qualified to complain a lot
Because to me, you're not even on the stage at this point
If you wanna complain, why not do that in Japanese?
So we can at least listen to you. We can have a discussion about that.
Bit If you don't speak Japanese anyway,
how could we trust you?
How could we understand you?
But you wanna still demand exactly the same rights?
Now when I say speaking Japanese
it seems too demanding and fucking crazy.
So let me emphasize this
What I want to see from you is
I don't know about other Japanese people
but me personally
just putting out simple Japanese words ramadomly would be enough
Because at this point, I can totally see your effort
From what I see, however, especially many western residents in Japan
are not even making effort
to improve Japanese language and just complaining in English
So of course, most Japanese people don't even understand why they're dissatisfied
OK take a look at this
I totally agree with that
And in my opinion,
which means for example,
if your committed a crime,
some people might think your bother is also a bad person
Now, let's talk about indivials and collectivism
Japan is more like a collectivism society
Many people have group mentality
I know maybe this is something you don't like about Japan
Especially in western society
is a really improtant value
But why do you think Japan is a safe country?
the group mentality has a huge influence on that
If you do something bad,
In that system,
we can be accountable each other
and keep on the same page
This statement sounds really good
But may be not really apply in Japan
Whether you like it or not, in Japan people see you as a representative of a group
That group could be family, company, school or race
This Japanese concept is called うち and そと
Actually I'm gonna talk about this concept in another video.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can treat someone unfairly
just because the family member did a bad thing
Again, discrimination cannot be justified
But like I said earlier, that's understandable at least
So which one would you like to blame more?
the one who treated you unfairly
Of course, both of them should be to blame
let me simplify more clearly
a white person treated you unfairly
Or a black person who committed a crime
and that caused
the white person to do discrimination

I got nothing.
(GRUNTING)
Jarvis, subject at my 12 o'clock is not a target, disengage!

Whoo!
(PANTING)
TONY: Honey?
Oh, my God.
That was really violent.
You just scared the devil out of me. I thought you were...
I was dead. Why? Because I fell 200 feet?
Who's the hot mess now?
It's still debatable.
Probably tipping your way a little bit.
Why don't you dress like this at home? Hmm?
Sport bra. The whole deal.
You know, I think I understand why you don't want to give up the suits.
What am I going to complain about now?
Well, it's me.
You'll think of something.
- No, don't touch me. - Don't worry about it.
- No, I'm gonna burn you. - No, you're not.
Not hot.
Am I gonna be okay?
No.
You're in a relationship with me. Everything will never be okay.
But I think I can figure this out, yeah.
I almost had this 20 years ago when I was drunk.
I think I can get you better.
That's what I do. I fix stuff.
And all your distractions?
Uh... I'm going to shave them down a little bit.
Jarvis. Hey.
JARVIS: All wrapped up here, sir. Will there be anything else?
You know what to do.
The Clean Slate Protocol, sir?
Screw it, it's Christmas. Yes, yes.
(KISSES)
Okay, so far? Do you like it?
(SIGHS)
It'll do.

Koh Chang Island - PRISTINE SEAFOOD FISHING VILLAGE and Spicy Curries | Food Travel Guide! - Duration: 24:30.
- Good morning I hope you're having an awesome day.
It's Mark Wiens, I'm in Koh Chang Island which is in Trat,
in the eastern part of Thailand.
This is day seven of our Eastern Thai food and travel tour.
But it's a jungle cover rustic island
with beautiful beaches.
We're gonna drive around the eastern side of the island
and explore some of the fishing villages.
We're gonna get some amazing scenery,
we're gonna go see some beaches
and of course we are gonna search out some
incredibly delicious food.
And especially some seafood.
And I'm gonna share all the food and everything
that we do with you today in this video right now
so, we're getting ready to leave it's about 7 a.m.
(uptempo music)
so it is really cool that we're able to
have our car here in Koh Chang
so that we can drive around.
This gonna be an awesome day.
Just quickly to tell you, we are staying on a beach
in an area called, Kai Bae.
And this is one of the most,
this entire western side of Koh Chang Island
is the main side where you'll find most hotels,
most guest houses, most life.
But the eastern side is known to be more quiet,
more peaceful, a little more rustic.
So that's the side we're especially gonna focus on.
But really we're gonna focus on the food today
(uptempo music)
We just drove down the road a few kilometers.
We're just before Klong Prao,
which is the next kinda beach area.
But there's a restaurant and this is where we need to stop
to eat breakfast before we move on.
(speaking in foreign language)
This is one of those spots
where you can go down the line of pots and open the cover
and see what they have for the day.
I'll let you in on a little secret.
Yesterday, we took the day off from filming
and actually we ate at this same place.
We were just driving pass,
I saw that lots of van drivers and tok-tok drivers
were stopping here to eat.
And I knew it was a place
we needed to stop to eat for lunch too.
So I'm glad they're open this morning.
This, they actually serve Southern Thai food.
Like not this region,
but from the southern peninsula of Thailand
and their food is awesome.
It's also halal food.
(speaking in foreign language)
Oh, this place is absolutely fantastic.
Yeah, and I ordered actually the same exact dishes
that I ordered yesterday because they're so good.
This is the dish.
Almost everybody eating here orders this.
It's just a beautiful beef soup.
The chunks of beef, the fresh chilies in there,
look at that, just entire chilies in there.
The fresh onions.
Ah, okay let me just take a bit.
Oh, and the crispy fried shallots.
Oh, that is melt in your mouth beef.
And the stock is so beefy and so rich and beautifully salty.
And then you can taste the herbs
that have been boiled down in the soup,
the Kaffir lime leaves, cilantro roots in there as well.
The part that I love the most
is that they combine fresh
uncooked onions and chilies and lime juice,
as well as some tomatoes in there.
And then they pour the boiling soup over those vegetables.
So you've got both cooked ingredients
as well as raw ingredients,
which gives it that punch of flavor.
And those crispy shallots as well.
Man that's good.
Next dish I got is
(speaks in foreign language)
this is beef in a dry curry.
So you can see that curry paste
which is just kinda caked up on the meat there
with Kaffir lime leaves.
It's absolutely stunning.
You've got that cake,
that crust of chili curry paste on there.
I love it.
Another thing that's great about Southern Thai food
is you've always got a plate of
(speaks in foreign language)
which is a plate of raw vegetables and some shrimp paste.
And I'm going right in.
This is white turmeric, I believe.
Yeah, that's your wake up call in the morning.
Finally thing I got her is some
(speaks in foreign language)
which is dried, sun dried fish,
and then deep fried.
And she said she makes this all herself.
Oh, look at that fish.
That's seriously good stuff.
You can taste that it's sort of been dehydrated in the sun.
But the dehydrating the
(speaks in foreign language)
meaning one sun, one day of sunshine,
it gives it a more unique texture.
Like a little bit, slightly turning to jerky but not quite.
(bright music)
There's nothing like a 7:30 a.m, morning meal
that breaks your sweat of the day
and just leaves you like,
shirt slightly dripping, but feeling outrageously satisfied.
And now that we've finished with breakfast
we can continue driving.
(uptempo music)
oh man, this side of the island is so incredibly relaxing.
We are stopping at a coffee shop.
It is called, The Coffee Home.
It's right along the ocean.
You can sit, you can relax.
They have a garden.
Oh, this is gorgeous.
This is great.
Coffee is okay.
Now we can officially start the day though.
(uptempo music)
The coffee here is okay, not amazing.
But the scenery, the atmosphere is spectacular.
That is one relaxing cup of coffee.
We're on our way, next,
I hope we're gonna go check out a coconut farm.
The place is called, The Organic Coconut Farm.
It's right on the side of the road.
It's just a beautiful little, kinda shack type of place.
So next up let's have a coconut.
(speaks in foreign language)
Yes, really nice.
And then, you'll find everything there.
Or I can write it down for you.
(speaking in foreign language)
Straight up blended coconut
and coconut meat and the coconut water.
Oh.
Oh, that's awesome.
Oh, and the foam, the coconut foam on top.
Oh, that's superb.
I like that he just doesn't add anything,
he just relies on the coconut.
It froths up, it's absolutely sensational.
(guitar music)
Oh, that's outstanding.
I mean, it's perfectly sweet
and a little bit sour and pure coconut.
(guitar music)
(speaking in foreign language)
Ying said I have to come check out the toilet.
Which is back here in the coconut field.
Oh, here it is in the palm branches.
Oh, and of course a banana tree
in the toilet that's awesome.
(Mark laughs)
This is the type of bathroom I've always dreamed about.
The banana trees, surrounded by palm branches.
And just check out this thrown.
The podium.
You can do your morning exercise at the same time.
Man, he's just an amazing friendly man.
Just passionate about the fruit that he's serving.
He will talk to you,
he will take care of you when you're sitting here,
and I fully support what he's doing.
I love it.
This is great.
Look at that, it's just like jelly.
Mm.
(speaking in foreign language)
- Delicious
- Really good.
It just melts in your mouth.
- Yeah.
- It's perfect.
Got some bananas.
And in Thai this is called a
(speaks in foreign language)
Which is just like a wild egg banana, or apple banana.
Mm.
(woman speaking foreign language)
It's so good.
Yeah, it's like orange on the inside.
Wow, that is a superb banana.
(speaking in foreign language)
He gave us some bananas on the way out.
His name is Khon Drani.
Pay him a visit.
He has amazing coconuts and fruit.
And what stands out even more than his fruit
is how nice and how friendly he is.
Next up, we are going to Salak Khok, which is a,
it's a fishing village in a bay with mangroves
it looks amazing.
We're gonna eat some seafood there.
(uptempo music)
This is an old fishing community.
It's gorgeous here.
We're at the pier.
We're gonna walk around.
Oh man, the peace and quiet,
the fishing boats, the bay, it's gorgeous.
Can you see that dog taking a nap on the sunken boat?
And the water is really peaceful
because it's an inlet, it's a bay that comes in.
If you go further that way, you'll get to the open sea.
But that's why this water remains so quiet.
It's covered in mangroves.
The mangroves are gorgeous as well.
And one of the main attractions here
is to kayak through the mangroves,
but then also just to come here
and just observe the traditional Koh Chang fishing village.
One of the ways to support this community
is to go to the seafood restaurant.
They have a seafood restaurant,
one main seafood restaurant here,
where the fishermen bring their catch.
And so you can go there to eat seafood.
It's very much community run and driven,
which is what I like about it.
So we're gonna go see what seafood they have for the day.
(uptempo music)
This place is relaxation on another level.
It's so relaxed in fact, that we came here
and the chef is actually,
the chef has gone somewhere,
so they had to call up the chef
to tell the chef to come back here to cook.
One of their specialties here is kang.
Which in English is mantis shrimp.
The giant alien looking mantis shrimp,
which I've already had a number of times in Trat.
It's very common, it's very popular.
And so they have a fresh tank of them.
Those are giant.
But something else I have to show you over here is,
giant arapaima, but you look over this,
look at how big that fish is.
That's like the size of a full grown man.
The food has all arrived.
It looks spectacular.
But, by all means the center piece,
the trophy of the meal are these mantis shrimp.
They're just, they're huge.
They're like a foot long.
They kept the whole heads and the tentacles
and the pinchers on them.
They're kinda scary looking.
And these are deep fried with garlic
and maybe some oyster sauce on top.
You can see those crunchy pieces of garlic.
Oh, it looks awesome.
It's definitely the length of your face.
Oh hello, nice to meet you.
And you can see that shell,
but then on the inside there that's the meat.
That's what you're going for.
It's kinda like lobster and shrimp mixed together.
Oh wow.
Oh, the freshness.
Oh, the garlic.
The taste is in between crab and shrimp and lobster
kinda all mixed together.
The texture is a little bit stringy but silky.
It's sweet.
They're superb.
Yeah this is the meat right out of the tall.
Look at how succulent, how moist and how juicy that is.
It's unbelievably delicious.
Another dish we got is called
(speaks in foreign language)
Normally in Thailand it's called
(speaks in foreign language)
but here they call it
(speaks in foreign language)
This is raw shrimp.
It's kinda like ceviche.
Raw shrimp in here, lots of lemon grass, chilies.
They put some carrots and cashews in here
and then it should be like a lime dressing.
And you can see the shrimp are just,
they're raw, but they're just cooked by the lime juice.
Mm.
Oh.
Oh, that's one of those dishes that like,
kinda punches you in the face.
Mm, it's sour, really nice and sour.
All that finely shaved lemon grass in there,
what gives it such a freshness.
There are chilies in there.
You've got the crunch of the cabbage and those carrots
and then the cashews.
Final dish we got here is
(speaks in foreign language)
And (speaks in foreign language)
is a common form of preserving.
It literally translate to one sun.
Meaning one day of sun.
So they hang out the seafood in the sun,
let it dry in the sun for one day.
And then it's normally deep fried.
So this area is known for their squid, one sun.
And so you can see it's sort of crinkled up,
it looks a little dry and then it's deep fried.
On second thought, after looking at it
I think it's cuttlefish.
Mm.
Mm.
Yeah, wow.
That is absolutely fantastic.
It has a little chewy factor to it.
But you taste the saltiness as it's slightly preserved.
It's like rubbery but not at the same time.
And just packed full of flavor.
Oh, this makes for the perfect,
like, chili, garlic platform.
What a perfect little ledge.
(guitar music)
Or with that sauce.
I'm going in for the tentacles.
In Thai they call it the
(speaks in foreign language)
like the mustache.
And I'm gonna use that mustache to kinda scrap up
as much chilies and garlic as possible.
(guitar music)
That's a bit to remember.
(guitar music)
That was a stunner of a seafood meal.
Do not let the emptiness,
and if there are no people here, just come here.
It's great.
The seafood is delicious and fresh.
Our bill was pretty expensive.
I mean it is pretty expensive.
But over half our bill was
because we had those mantis shrimp.
So if you don't have the mantis shrimp
you can really reduce your price.
And you can get some of the other dishes.
Alright and that,
hold on.
And that completes our visit to Salak Khok.
It's really a beautiful fishing village.
The seafood is great.
It's well worth your effort to come here.
From here we're driving down the coast and we're going to
(speaks in foreign language)
Which is, in English, it's Long Beach.
(Bright music)
See, at some parts the road was covered in jungle
and kinda overgrown.
Mika is taking a nap right now.
So they're waiting in the car.
We were planning to swim here
and play in the sand for a little while.
We'll see if Mika wakes up.
But for the time being let's go take a look
at the beach right now.
Yeah it is pretty spectacularly quiet and peaceful.
The water it's pretty nice.
There's kind of a lot of garbage though.
Too bad it's not a bit cleaner.
There are a couple of restaurants,
or maybe just one restaurant, kinda bar area.
People are chilling it's very peaceful though.
Very, a very relaxing place.
(uptempo music)
Mika's still sleeping so I think we're gonna continue on.
But I'm not all that impressed with Long Beach.
It's a nice beach, it's nice and quiet,
but looks like it's seen better days.
It's kinda run down, it's kinda dirty.
Lot's of garbage has washed up.
I was much more impressed with Salak Khok.
From here we're driving on to Salak Phet.
Which is the next bay.
And we made it to Salak Phet.
That was just a short drive.
But another beautiful drive.
The first place that we're stopping off here is
a mangrove plank walkway.
(speaking in foreign language)
This is already gorgeous.
But, part of the reason it's really cool is because
maybe it is abandoned, it is really quiet.
You do have to be a little careful
of the missing planks and the loose planks.
Wow, watch out, your head.
- Wow.
- Wow
You get to this certain point
and the mangroves really open up to an expansive greenery
with the mountains in the background.
It's really kinda a shame though
that they haven't maintained the walkway, the boardwalk,
because it's in pretty bad shape.
My tip is that you really stand in the center
where the concrete beams are.
But it's gorgeous and peaceful and quiet.
(uptempo music)
Made it to the very end of the platform.
Actually I thought it was supposed to go a loop trip.
Maybe, I don't know.
But this is definitely the end.
Heading back to the car and from here
we're gonna go check out one more seafood restaurant
within Salak Phet.
And I think that might conclude the day.
But, what a fantastic day it's already been.
(uptempo music)
There are two main seafood restaurants to choose from.
One is called Salak Phet Seafood and Resort.
And the other is called
(speaking in foreign Language)
Saeng Arun
So we're gonna try to go to Saeng Arun
it looks a little more low-key.
And we gotta walk down the little lane to get there.
You would sort of walk through their house,
which is like a full dock in of itself.
And then you get to the restaurant in the back here,
with the view of the sea.
Ah, yes.
(uptempo music)
Didn't order very much, just a couple of dishes.
I just wanted to try this place
and just to enjoy the view of Salak Phet bay.
And the, yeah, just the late afternoon scenery.
And it is spectacular.
We have the sea breeze.
This is called
(speaks in foreign language)
These are little carb cakes and then deep fried.
I'm not sure if they're encased in tofu skin.
I think they are.
Mm.
Mm.
Hmm-mm.
Maybe it's mixed with egg, but it's crab.
You can taste the onions and garlic in there
and then kinda crunchy skin.
And really what you're supposed to do
is dip it in this sweet plum sauce.
The sauce is very sweet.
But that does accompany well
the salty, pepperiness of the sausage.
The next dish we got is
(speaks in foreign language)
which is this type of stir-fry with hoi-shell,
which are the scallops.
And you can see it's full of,
ooh, there's some random leaves in there.
It's full of krachai, which is fingerroot.
These are little small, hopefully,
I think they're local scallops.
Onto the rice.
I love that fingerroot in there.
And then you've got the scallops
which have a bit of a bounce to them.
Oh yeah, we've got a hanger.
Oh, it just slide off.
(chuckles) Okay.
Okay, I'm moving on to one more dish.
This one is (speaks in foreign language)
and it looks to be like (speaks in foreign language)
which is mullet fish.
And it's a sour soup.
Wow, we got a bunch of heads down there.
Oh, there's a bunch of fish.
Oh okay, they're just small fish
but there's a lot of 'em.
And immediately you can smell that kinda sour
I think tamarind in there.
And there's ginger too.
Mm.
Mm.
Ooh, this soup is nice with the ginger.
Mm.
It could be a little more sour.
It's not that sour.
Mm, but the fish broth and the ginger.
The ginger actually, there's so much ginger in there
it sort of burns going down you throat.
That's delicious.
Yep, that's mullet.
Very firm.
(guitar music)
So that brings us to the end of this.
What a fantastic day it has been in Koh Chang,
along the east coast of the island.
The ending seafood meal it was okay,
but it wasn't spectacular to me.
For me the first seafood restaurant at Salak Khok
that was really the more, the awesome experience,
it just had more character to it too.
Another thing I wanted to tell you
before ending this Kho Chang travel, food, video guide.
Yesterday, I didn't film on video,
but I took a few clips.
We drove to end of the west side.
You can continue along,
it's a really windy, amazing road,
but then you get to a place called Bang Bao.
Which is a pier.
There's a lot of souvenir shops.
I didn't try any of the restaurants,
but it's a nice place to see as well.
And then if you continue on,
there's another beach called Khlong Kloi,
which is also a really
chilled out, really relaxing place
if you're looking for a place to stay for a few nights
that's gonna be peaceful and quiet,
that's also an amazing place.
So that's gonna do it for this one day tour of Koh Chang.
Visiting some of the sites and especially enjoying the food.
I will have the information of the things we did and ate
in the description box below,
as well as some links that you can check out.
And I wanna say
huge thank you for watching this video.
It's been a fantastic, fantastic day.
And we're just gonna drive back
to the other side of the island now.
So thank you very much for watching.

Google Home Products and Updates Google Should Do in 2018 - Duration: 5:43.
Hello everyone. Thanks for tuning in again. Last week I went through a ton of
new features and updates for the Google Home and the Google Assistant
that came to us from Google i/o 2018. What I want to do this week is I
actually want to go through some of the features or the updates or the products
that we're missing from Google Assistant or the Google Home. These are things that
I would like to see in the future and I'd love to hear what you'd
like to see in the future. Now what we saw last week from Google at Google i/o 2018
was stunning. Google Duplex was an incredible feature, but you know on top
of that what I had hoped I would see are a couple of new devices from Google. They
talked about the smart display devices or the Google Home display devices. Those
are fantastic, don't get me wrong I want to see those. But what I didn't see was
an outdoor speaker or an outdoor device. This is what I'd like to see from Google
in the near future. We should be able to take one of our Google Home devices outside and
it should be portable. If we wanted to or it should be a lot like outdoor speakers
that are already available on the market, just with the capability of having a
Google Assistant on board. Something else that I feel was a little bit missing, and
we've seen some of these products from other makers where they have the battery
that attaches basically to the base of your Google Home, and then you can take
it and it becomes a portable speaker. I'd like to see that coming out from Google.
The reason I say that is again, I want to be able to head outside with
my device. I want my music outside and I want it to be capable of connecting and
using my phone cell phone connection to do everything that I wanted to do. That
would also allow me to take it in a car, maybe power it in different ways that
way. Something else that I expected and maybe this is expecting a little bit too
much. Maybe this is something that has to come from the Nest side of Google but
the different sensors that I have seen. We see in the Samsung
SmartThings, they have a motion sensor
they have door sensors, they have those kinds of things.
Even just a simple motion sensor or a simple light sensor attached to your
Google Home would allow a lot of different automation to come and and be
a part. You could you can attach that to Routines. You could attach that to all
kinds of functionality, and using the mic to sense more than just your voice would
also be beneficial in this regard. On that note we've heard from
Amazon that they're building a robot that they would hopefully integrate with
a version of Alexa. It could follow you around the home. We've heard from
Roomba that they have plans to map your home and be able to follow you or know
where you are in the home. We haven't heard anything from Google in regards to
mobility or moving around your home or being able to do more with your home. Now
what we did see a few weeks ago, and I talked about this a few weeks ago from
one of the filings that Google made a number of years ago in terms of a patent,
they have plans to use cameras to basically map your house and pick out
all kinds of options or objects and do those kinds of things. However, we still
haven't heard from them how they would implement that and give you more
automation capability, or how they would handle some mobility within
their device or create a device with some mobility. One thing I don't think
we've quite seen from Google yet in their Google Assistant is the capability
of interacting with really any app. I think when I heard the App Actions
feature being added to Android P, we're starting to get closer. Where you could
speak with Google Assistant and just ask for a specific action within any
app. It wouldn't necessarily have to have its own app within the Google
Assistant, within their whole shop there. That's what I'd like to see coming, it's
a little bit of a deeper grab for them to go out, look through your phone, or
look through the device that your you're using at the
moment. Whether that's a tablet or a phone and pull that application out. Then go
to the action that you're hoping for or at least try and get you there through a
command through your Google Assistant. So I'd like to see that little bit of
deeper automation within the Google Assistant before I'm going to use that
on a daily basis on my phone. One other thing that I haven't seen come out from
Google. They're really not keeping up with Amazon on the side of
automobiles or vehicles. You know, they just don't have an option for you in the
car that's really strong right now. Amazon has a few options that are a
little bit better. They've also been integrated into more vehicles at this
point. All right, so like I said go ahead and let me know in the comments down
below what features you'd like to see coming from Google related to their
Google Home or their Google Assistant. I'd love to hear what thoughts you guys
have it always amazes me what you are thinking about in terms of home
automation or even just personal automation. Thanks for watching everyone.
We'll see you next time.
you
