What should I pursue, a PM Certification or a Master Degree? - Duration: 12:46.

Good morning.

In this video I will be talking about a comparison of two things.

We often see posts on social media, and people sending messages requesting, or asking for help.

They want people

to help them decide

between a project management certification

like the PMP.

I mean, it could be other than a PMP but the most common question often relate to the PMP. Or, a master's degree in project

management. So a PMP or MPM.

And

it is challenging to respond to these questions

without

maybe being too direct, or to open, or honest, and

obviously we believe if someone is posting such a question,

they want an honest answer.

I usually respond to those questions, and here I'm doing so through this video as well

and where we can share with people who have a question about

whether they should pursue a professional certification in project management or an MS degree

in project management. The first things we want to say here is that

it's hard to compare, because it's technically like you're comparing

apples and grapes.

Or

a

sport vehicle with a Mini Cooper.

So it's not somethings that are readily

comparable.

Why?

Well one is, whether the PMP or something else or prince2 or something else,

it's a professional certification, and

usually people can obtain that certification

with a little bit of study and

maybe like for example the PMP require one course,

35 hours of training, which is equivalent to one course in a university, semester-based

system.

Typically a university semester that follows a semester system a course is a

roughly 35 to 39 hours of study,

PMI required 35 hours of study in

preparation.

Some other certifications do not require any preparatory courses.

It's up to you, how you prepare and study for a given certification.

However, what I'm saying is that, it's a professional certification obtained

possibly after a course or no course by passing an exam, one

exam. PRINCE2

Foundation for example have one exam seventy-five questions.

PMI CAPM is a three-hour exam, and the PMP is a 4-hour exam and so forth

and so on.

So it is a professional certification,

it could be obtained by passing a single exam, after meeting a certain pre qualification

requirements.

And it's often, for many of these certifications, a degree, a university degree is not even required.

Okay, so that is what

certification. Is it popular? Sure PRINCE2 is popular in the UK and among companies who subscribe to the British system.

The PMP is probably the most recognized project management certification in the world.

That is the most popular,

and other certification may be

as popular, or not as popular. Obviously nothing as popular as the PMP in term, I think if I'm not mistaken,

because I think we are closing on 900,000 PMPs around the world today.

And now you've always hear me say popular, that doesn't mean it's the best. Yes it is

recognized, it is the most recognized, and it is popular. So

it has value.

Now, let's put things to the side whether the PMP or PRINCE2 or GPM or another certification.

Each of those certifications have some value.

Great!

We have that. Let's shift to a master's degree.

Now as far as I know, the minimum,

minimum requirement for a master's degree

in most universities, is at least

two semester or nine months of study; and

usually 4 module per semester. That means eight major modules. This is one. This is the most basic,

fastest master's degrees, that I have seen out there.

A typical master's degree in the university system like the US for example, it's 36

credit hours.

Which mean is somewhat equivalent to 12 courses.

Each course, meaning, being three credit hours. Of course in a European system, or a quarter based system

the number of credits might be different but for example a typical master's degree in the US is at

36 (credit) hours.

Maybe it consists of 30 (credit) hours of class work and six hours for a project, or

maybe a little bit more allowed for a thesis.

But the bottom line, to achieve the master's degree, people have

to take, and

ideally, they should be passing as many as eight courses as a minimum.

This is assuming the fastest process which is the nine-month semester, or one-year programs, usually about eight

modules or eight courses.

Whereas another university or full program would be definitely more than that. So as a minimum,

the candidate must pass

and take at least eight to twelve courses if they don't have to put a thesis or work on a project

to satisfy the requirement of obtaining the master's degree.

So obviously in terms of learning, in terms of education hours, contact hours, a master's degree is

significantly higher in

terms of

learning content. And of course assuming it is from a good university, you are working with

good professors, and then of course a value could be even higher,

especially if the universities also subscribe to

the concept of where people have to work in teams on projects and they have to deliver a project.

So in my view, there is no question about it, in terms of learning

about the value of the master's degree and how it is different versus a PM certification.

Okay? So

if nothing else all things equal, I have no doubt which one I would choose if a candidate come to apply for me

with a certification and limited experience or with a master's degree.

Now that brings me to the argument that the people who defend certification say. "Ah, the PMP and other certification might require experience."

Well a master's degree, yeah, sure some universities do require experience.

Like I know I've worked with one University where they required at minimum three years experience before they allow somebody in the master's program.

However, obviously we are comparing here, assuming, a candidate good just for a master's degree with no experience and someone have three

years experience and that case I would look at the master's degree as just one year experience and I'll compare three years experience

outside, one year with the university obviously out if I want more experience, I would go with the higher level experience.

Just because the certification, it doesn't mean anything!

So to make it clear,

some two candidates come to me, one with a PMP or PRINCE2 and three years experience, and

one come to me with the master's degree and three years experience. If the two candidates have equal type of similar

personalities, similar structure, similar knowledge,

you know, the only differentiator is three letters, is a degree or a PMP? I'll take the degree. No questions asked, okay?

But obviously hiring is not as simple as just looking at a degree,

you would want to talk to the person, and I would want to see who is the person, who really understand project management, or memorize

project management, whether the certificate holder or the degree holder.

I want to be able to see that they can think, they can apply, they can

rationalize what's going on.

So these are in general a quick comparison between the two the two two items;

a certificate, professional certification, and an academic

university degree.

Now I want to shift to

something else related to universities, and related to the market.

Yes, the market, when the market, hiring manager

prefer a certification over a degree, I

really have to look beyond the reason for that, and I can visualize

two major reasons why that will happen;

assuming

the hiring manager knows what they're doing.

One is

that

they don't really fully understand

the difference between the two; in this case

I referred them to the previous part of the video and they can compare and understand what the difference between them.

There is a perception, of course, that certification is like guaranteed competence;

it's not. I don't want to go into certification at this stage. So I'm gonna focus on the idea is when the market

considers these questions,

PMP or MPM or MS,

the Master of Science degree, that's indicate that usually those people the hiring manager or the recruitment do not

understand the difference between the two,

okay? Or

to give them the benefit of the doubt

universities are doing a lousy job in preparing project management

professionals, and in their degrees

maybe they are being to academics where the people are learning how to pass exam at the university level,

or just by passing or getting by rather

they're really understanding how to apply project management. So

again, hiring manager

you need to go beyond

those three letters the short letters. You need obviously, you need to understand the candidate experience,

you need to understand the candidate background, their ability to think independently,

the ability to analyze, and not to follow orders or not to follow a memorization

technique.

This is why we posted, for example, what I call the Ajam Acid Interview Questions, which I was really looking in many of them,

you know

It's easy answers and some of them are challenging because I would want to see how the candidate think, how they can analyze the question.

These are the things that are important. So please, I close this video with a message to universities,

What do you want

to achieve in term of recognition, if your candidates, or your graduates go out in the world

with a master's degree in project management, and they still do not know how to apply the basics of project management?

So in this video my message has been to people who are asking the question about

PMP,

PM certification, or PM

graduate degrees.

It is in a way touching on

recruiters and manager who hire and what they should look for in the candidate, and of course at the end the universities

to really look at what they are producing in term of the graduates.

Dear viewers of "Sori Not Sorry: " Hello everyone, this is Sori.

Sori here.

I'm going to try out something different today,

and I would like to talk about my solo artist career.

Some of the viewers already know,

I have been to London recently for latex outfits, hit the recording studio, and watched Shakira's concert in Barcelona.

Not to mention a bikini haul for the music video and behind the scene footages from the music video set.

You might have come across these videos about my solo career,

or some interview footages from my showcase.

Maybe you have read some news articles about me.

Since this solo debut means a lot to me,

today, I would like to discuss it with you guys in more detail.

I believe there are several of you who have known me even before CoCoSoRi days,

but those who have not are the majority.

Since I assume a lot of you have recently found out about me after the solo debut, I would like to introduce myself first.

I was born in July 21st, 1990 in Seoul.

Since I spent my childhood at my grandma's in Gangwon Province, sometimes the province feels like my hometown,

but I was born in Seoul.

I am 28 years old International, 29 Korean.

I personally think that age doesn't bear particular significance,

but people tend to grow physically and mentally as time passes, so even though it hasn't been long,

I believe that tons of changes have taken place in my lifetime.

If I were to tell you my life story from the moment of my birth, a whole day wouldn't be enough,

so what about I start my story from the autumn last year?

I debuted as the half of duo, "CoCoSoRi" in 2016.

After the debut, I auditioned and trained for a Korean drama "The idolm@ster.KR"

and was starred in as one of the characters in the show. I spent total of 1 and a half years shooting for the show.

While the show was being televised, I joined the group R.G.P and B-SIDE and appeared on TV.

We started discussing the comeback of CoCoSoRi towards the end of the show's run, which was the last fall.

While Coco appeared in a couple episodes of the TV show,

she opened up her own YouTube channel, and been showing her prowess as a web personality,

and released her first solo single "Wishy Washy," to become a solo artist first.

While we were discussing the debut of "CoCoSoRi,"

the casting calls for audition shows such as "The Unit" of KBS and JTBC's "MIXNINE" have started.

This was a good opportunity even for those who have debuted on stage.

CoCoSoRi would eventually consider that option as well.

I initially thought that returning back to trainee days was really tough,

but to appear on audition-based show with this chance,

would be a beneficial experience in a long run, I thought.

So, Coco starred in KBS's "The Unit,"

and some of you might know already,

Some co-stars of our drama "The idolm@ster.KR" appeared in "The Unit" as well.

While the other members including myself appeared in "MIXNINE."

if you check out the 2nd episode of "MIX NINE" you'd be able to find a footage of an audition being held at my company,

The judge's comment saying "Isn't it time for you (Sori) to retire" has gone viral,

and after that I sang my original song "Song To Myself" in front of the crowd

shedding some tears.

I believe this experience has made me realize that I have to work harder, and became a source of motivation.

As the show "MIX NINE" progressed, I spent time with many other girls, did assignments, and waited for good results patiently for a couple months,

I didn't have much time to think about anything else,

back then, I did a performance of "Greedy" by Ariana Grande on stage.

This is an afterthought that I came across way later, but after watching the performance, the president of my company started considering a solo artist career for me.

I found about this way much later.

I think I displayed an image or concept so different from the ones that I have already shown before.

and maybe led him to that thought, I assume.

By the time "MIX NINE" was coming to its end, we started working on CoCoSoRi's new single, "Mi Amor."

Even though "Mi Amor" had a different vibe from the other songs that CoCoSoRi has performed before,

but I think we did pretty well for ourselves, maintaining bright and upbeat atmosphere.

After that, Coco was preparing some other song for her second single, but I don't think she actually ended up choosing another song.

Around the same time,

A long discussion between me and my boss was coming to an end and started preparing for my solo artist career,

and this channel that you're currently watching has been launched.

To prepare for my solo career, I started taking many lessons such as vocal training,

and started working out as well.

As a newly-minted solo artist, I had much room for improvement

I looked up many footages online about solo female musicians and did a lot of research.

I studied how to express myself through body language by watching music videos,

and I went to see a live concert of Katy Perry, who I admired since high school days

to up my motivation

I visited 2 different producers to talk about my solo debut single,

and started having meetings about outfit, music video, and choreography

A lot of preparation is needed to become a solo artist.

and I have prepared those elements through lots of research and discussions.

To elaborate more in detail,

I practiced a lot of my poses and facial expressions

and as you can come across through my channel, I have taken lessons like bass guitar and piano.

If I were to perform on a bigger stage, I would be able to play those instruments while performing my songs, I thought.

So I worked hard for several months to get ready for my solo career.

A solo artist has to sing, pose, and act on stage or in front of the camera,

and display all of his/her talent to the crowd, right?

And one's visual appearance matters especially to solo artists.

I ended up doing more research, discussions, and pondering to that extent.

While there are many idol groups in Korea, solo artists who sing, act, and dance all by themselves are few and far between, I came to realize.

To become a solo dance artist

is very difficult in this soil, and to be well-known is more challenging.

So before the decision was made,

and kept my mouth shut until everything was certain. knowing that I might give up midway through.

I wasn't going to retire and stop singing just because the preparation phase was difficult.

Since giving up after making the announcement would be poorer in form,

my company also decided to keep things confidential before set dates were announced as well.

Only a handful of people knew about the solo debut.

Once we've made a certain amount of progress in my solo debut, an idea of using MAKESTAR

as a crowdfunding platform was brought up.

so that those who support me around the world can join in.

To release a song in this industry, a solo artist must have outfits, choreography, a song, and a music video

and multiple expenditures to appear in many TV programs.

Even though to meet all the expenditures would be impossible through crowdfunding,

that was the moment that I realized there a lots of people in this world who would like to support my endeavor.

Approximately $7,000 was our target goal, but we ended up reaching over 300% by the time we have reached the end of the campaign.

I was aware that my solo debut process would require many people's

sweat, committment and hard work,

but at the same time, I wondered if

there would be people out there to support me when I returned to stage.

I actually thought that this campaign would fail.

However, a lot of people would end up supporting me exceeding the target amount

I am very grateful of the support, and to find out that the people from over 18 different countries have participated in this

was a huge surprise and something to show my gratitude for.

I bet some of those supporters I would not likely to physically come across and vice versa due to the distance.

But to support me despite all that, has touched me greatly.

I thought I have to work harder to pay them back.

Your supports were a huge source of my energy. Thank you so much.

So my solo debut date was set,

My first single "Touch" was released and its accompanying music video was revealed as well.

What came after was a showcase.

That was my first showcase in such a long time, and it was actually my first doing all by myself.

Upon pondering which outfit to wear for my performance,

I ended up wearing the outfit that I wore for the group dance scene in the music video and the cover image shoot.

which is the white latex outfit.

I wore two different body suits, one going inside of the other.

I wore fishnet stockings over a pair of regular stockings as well.

With the outfit on, I stood in front of you on stage.

Many articles and photos were published.

By simply just reading the article, you only get to experience one side of the story, even before listening to the song.

The outfit definitely has gone viral.

After a long consideration and discussion, I decided on putting the outfit to show myself as a solo artist for the first time,

but to summarize all that by saying "Oh, she's just wearing swimming suit with fishnet stockings!"

I have come across quite a few people who share that opinion.

Many people seem to have negative point of view towards not only me, but towards my company as well.

I initially was thankful for the attention, despite its negative tendencies,

and I was partially ready for this backlash.

To have this much of public attention as a lesser known celebrity,

I know some people would look at me strangely, or have critical and negative opinion towards me.

However, since I'm a human being, and so are many co-workers at my company, to witness such negative comments have hurt us.

It was hurtful, and to receive such reaction after all the hard work put in frustrated us.

We have gone all the way to London to get these outfits for the music video.

Even though I am not particularly famous,

the outfits were worn by many famous people, so I wore them with pride.

However, the returning reaction was very cold.

I was very upset...

It felt like what I worked on all these years collapsing.

But after some thoughts,

I wanted to show you a different side of me that has never been seen before,

in both the music video and at the showcase.

So, to fit the song,

that was different from all the other releases I've done before,

I prepared an appropriate choreography as well.

However, since I am not particularly well-known to the crowd,

I heard lots of blame from the public.

If a current famous figure in the music industry

were to put on a sexy outfit,

and to dance on stage,

People would be able to support him or her more easily,

since they recognize the pre-established reputation.

But Since I have not reached that level of popularity, I thought I might have received such a backlash.

Among the comments were "Is this company seriously stooping this low to make money?"

"Is she seriously doing THIS to gain popularity?" to list a few.

Even though I might be that personality on stage,

in real life I don't dress like that. I have a separate personality that is disparate from the stage persona.

Which I think is the reason why I could be a bolder personality on stage.

The outfits and choreography were not decided by myself, but with a long discussions and meetings with the members of my company.

A few people shared their negative opinions towards my company saying it's too small,

but because my company have so few workers, we were able to communicate and get to know each other better.

So, this project was agreed on mutually.

The music video, outfits, and choreography were agreed upon many considerations.

Even though I have tried out a bunch of different concepts,

but to debut as a solo artist with the same cute and innocent image,

wouldn't make me grow particularly,

and since the viewers and surrounded by so many other talents,

to just show my plain Jane self wouldn't be good enough to gather attention.

So this time around, with my solo debut, I wanted to show you a grown up and more experienced SoRi.

I think that these articles and reactions were

in part some degrees of attention to my outfits, showcase footage, and the music video.

Since coming across the article isn't the same from listening to the song, one would judge the book by its cover,

But to become such an issue...

"we're half-way to success!" I decided to take it positively after talking to the president of the company.

I assume there are some people who recently found out about me through these media outlets,

To those people, I would like to show them what my everyday self is like, how each preparation was done.

I can seize this opportunity and promote myself to those people.

I have various feelings with this particular experience,

I once again learned that I still have lots of room to improve,

and what I can do to fix those issues as well.

In order to stand in front of you more confidently, I still need more preparation.

and more practice, I came to a realization.

My solo debut single "Touch" is a really good song as well,

I hope you enjoy listening to it, and this is definitely not the end.

I would like to come back with a better and more favorable song the next time around.

I have garnered lots of inspiration after seeing Shakira's "El Dorado" tour,

Even as a woman, Shakira is very sexy, but at the same time, she is very innocent and pure whenever she shows her smile.

Sexy, but bright and cheerful... Shakira is an artist that makes people happy.

As I was watching her perform, I thought to myself it'd be nice to become a musician whose songs are sung along and bring joy to them.

Across all genders and age groups, even some young kids were dancing to the song at the concert.

I was so jealous but couldn't help myself admiring such a scene.

I would like to find the unique charm of my own, and would like to perform on a stage like that.

Even though age could be important

but I think it's not as important as the dreams and work I would like to achieve in the future.

As a human being, I also sometimes doubt myself, and get frustrated.

I get upset and feel despair too.

I am putting efforts of my own to overcome the challenge and become a better person every day.

When Is the Right Time to Practice Church Discipline? - Duration: 4:08.

Yes, we at our church believe strongly in membership. We want to have very meaningful

membership, which means that there's a covenant you take as you come into membership. And that

includes stipulations that if you fall into sin, you will potentially be, fall under the

discipline of the church, which is done for the purposes of restoration, to purify the

church, but we're hoping to restore that person, that the process of discipline will draw that

person back.

Church discipline is something we do seldom and we do slowly and with a great desire to

really undertake it in such a way that we draw that person back. So, you don't want

to be afraid to bring discipline to bear. Somebody has committed a sin that is public

and known. If somebody is living in a way that's rebellious. If somebody is just, they

clearly turned their back on the Lord, theologically even, bringing division in the church. We

want to put that person under the discipline of the church, but when people come to us

as elders and they have questions, we always want them to take the lead on that. So, we

as elders, it's not our job as elders to solve all those things, it's not our job to be involved

until the second or third step of church discipline. And so, if people come to us and say what

about this person, we'll say, you approach that person. If that person is sinning and

you're aware of it, you go to your brother and you appeal to him. You minister God's

truth to him and show him where he's wrong and call him to repentance. If he doesn't,

he still won't repent, then you come to us. Those first two steps can take weeks or months.

If that sin isn't directly terribly affecting the church, if it's not causing terrible division

or discord within the church, we're content usually to let it go on for a time and trust,

sometimes the Word of God works a little slower than we'd like, right. As people are praying,

as people are bringing truth to that person, as they're calling that person to repent,

we want to give them time. But our confidence is that God has given the church discipline

process for the purpose of either restoring people who are truly saved but have fallen

into sin, or identifying people who for a time were part of the church, but have proven

they're not believers. So, we have to have tremendous confidence in the process that

God has given us and then faithfully follow it even to the conclusion of removing people

from the membership of the church. And we should be very clear here, the Bible lays

out essentially two different kinds of discipline. There's, somebody has fallen into sin, is

one kind, and somebody's trying to destroy the church through division, is another kind.

We're usually talking, somebody has fallen into sin, and in that case, if we remove that

person from membership, we are not saying, we will have nothing more to do with you,

we're not saying, get away from us and never come back. We're just saying, we're removing

your membership because we can no longer say with confidence that you are a Christian.

We love you, we want you to turn to Christ, and we say, we want to welcome you back into

the membership of this church, but first, we need to see that you're actually, you've

become a believer. So it's important that we don't conflate those two so that we treat

somebody as a... We cast somebody off when really they simply need to hear the Word and

be saved.

...to match the Munich Beer Festival I show you a simple recipe for Pretzel Rolls in form of a muffin today...

...for that crumble ½ cube fresh yeast into a tall conatiner...

...add 1 teaspoon sugar & also pour in 200 milliliters lukewarm water...

...mix together with a whisk or fork until yeast & sugar have completely dissolved...

...& then combine yeast water mixture along with 400 grams flour, 50 grams soft butter & a teaspoon salt...

...in a mixing bowl & knead all ingredients together using your hands or a kitchen machine for 4 - 5 minutes...

...until a smooth dough...

...the dough should be completely detached from the bowl's wall...

...& if tha's done...

...give the dough a ball shape...

...place it back to the mixing bowl...

...& allow to rest covered with a kitchen towel for about 45 minutes in a warm place...

...after resting time thoroughly knead the dough again on the worktop...

...then cut into 12 equal sized pieces using a knife...

...& now form each dough piece into a small ball...

...by rounding the dough pieces with circular movements under your palms...

...allow the dough balls to rest for another 10 - 15 minutes...

...in the meantime we can prepare the muffin pan...

...line them with paper cases...

...or alternatively use butter to grease the pan...

...also put a large pot with 1,5 - 2 liters water on the stove...

...heat up...

...& once the water is just before boiling & starts to simmer...

...turn off the heat...

...add 50 grams soda to the water...

...& then add the dough balls in batches & allow to float for about 30 seconds in the soda water...

...turn them once after about 15 seconds...

...& afterwards lift out using a skimmer...

...& place into the prepared muffin pan...

...finally cut the surface cross-shaped with a sharp knife...

...& sprinkle the muffins with coarse salt...

...then bake in the preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 15 - 20 minutes...

...until the muffins got their typical brown glazed shining...

...get the done pretzel rolls out of the oven...

...allow them cool a bit on a wire rack & then serve...

Lemon & Earl Grey Cookies Dipped in White Chocolate | Afternoon Tea Treats | In Carina's Kitchen - Duration: 6:31.

In Carina's Kitchen: Lemon and Earl Grey Cookies Dipped in White Chocolate

These cookies are so yummy, I can't wait to hear what you all think about them!

First, add 1 cup of room temperature salted butter to a big bowl. If you want to use unsalted butter, add a pinch or two of salt to taste.

Add 1/2 cup sugar

And 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Mix/cream the butter and sugars.

Zest one lemon and set aside

Run 2 tablespoons earl grey tea leaves through a coffee grinder or mini blender, until powdered. You can use the already powdery earl grey tea from tea bags instead.

Take a minute to admire the beautiful smoke from the powdered tea leaves.

Add 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar or vanilla extract to your butter mixture.

Add the lemon zest you grated earlier

Add the powdered earl grey tea leaves and mix together well.

Add 2 cups of flour

Mix together until it forms a cookie dough. Add 1-2 teaspoons water if needed.

The dough shouldn't be crumbly or too wet and should stick together well.

Lay one big sheet of cling film out on your work surface and add half of the cookie dough.

Use the cling film to shape your cookie dough into a log. It's a little tricky, but you'll get there. Repeat with the remaining cookie dough.

Just make sure the dough is tightly packed together and it will turn out fine once the cookies have been baked.

I went for two different shapes - a circular log and a square-ish shape.

Refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours. The cookie dough logs should be hard and cooled before baking.

When you're ready to bake them, unwrap and cut into 5-8mm thick slices. Your dough might crumble a little while cutting. I experienced this with the round shape quite a lot. Just patch it up a little, the oven will mend the rest.

Spread the slices out onto cookie trays lined with grease proof paper. They won't spread a lot when baking, so no need to space them out too much.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 10-12 minutes. They'll be beautifully golden brown. Let them cool completely before moving on to the chocolate dipping.

When your cookies are cooled, you can ready the white chocolate for melting.

Add 100g white chocolate to a bowl.

Create a "bain marie" by pouring boiling water in to a pot or oven proof bowl. Place the bowl with chocolate over it. Leave it to melt for 5-10 minutes.

After 5-10 minutes your chocolate will have melted. Give it a little stir with a spoon to make sure there are no lumps.

Dip your cookies in one by one. Let the excess chocolate drip off before setting them aside on a tray with grease proof paper.

Sprinkle on a decorative pinch of lemon zest or earl grey powder.

Place in the fridge for 30 minutes or so to harden the chocolate. Don't leave them in the fridge as they will go soft over time. Keep in the freezer to make sure they maintain their flakiness.
