Youtube daily report w Oct 22 2018

Hey guys and welcome to Charge Up News, a weekly roundup of EV stories from

around the globe. This week's show will include the petrol and diesel bans in

Israel and Denmark, some African desert testing of the Audi e-tron, making

electric cars a little bit noisy and sales begin for the electric version of

the iconic Vespa. But first up, Porsche is one manufacturer that seems to be taking

the threat from Tesla very seriously. With six billion euro in investments and

over 1200 new employees for the launch of the Taycan alone, Porsche is

undergoing massive change while firmly committing to electric mobility. Their

management is predicting that 50% of Porsche models delivered from 2025 will

be electrified. But one of the best things for me is their sustainability

plans. The Taycan production process will be carbon neutral while the future

goals in production is to establish a factory with no environmental impact.

What we know so far about the Taycan is that it will be an eight hundred volt,

600 horsepower 4WD sports car with a zero to 100 kilometer per hour

time under 3.5 seconds, zero to 200 in less than 12 seconds, range around 500

kilometers, much less than the upcoming Tesla Roadster but Porsche de sticking

to the idea of speed instead of weight. Porsche will build 400 high-power

charging stations with a capacity of 350 kilowatts per charging point across

Europe by the end of 2019 and is also planning to install more than 2000 AC

charging points at destinations such as hotels. The recharging could be as fast

as 15 minutes for 400 kilometers or if you need a quick 100 kilometer top up,

a four minute charge.... amazing. Audi has released footage of their brand new e-Tron

desert testing in Namibia in Southwest Africa. Now you would expect an

Audi Quattro to be good off-road as they have been refining the four wheel drive design

since the original Quattro was released in the 80s where it completely dominated

the world rally championship. But it is still awesome to see this new generation

of electric cars coming through with little to no compromise in performance

or handling. As you can see from the footage, Namibia is an

extremely dry place. They have battled with recurrent and devastating droughts

and floods in recent years and on the back of the latest report from the

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which looks specifically the

impacts on water stressed countries, it seems perfectly appropriate to test and

showcase a zero emissions vehicle in a country which will have so much to lose

if we don't make some serious changes. Speaking of the IPCC report, twelve years

is the amount of time the world's leading climate scientists have given us

to make unprecedented changes to transform energy and food production

in order to prevent climate catastrophe and Israel Denmark are the first countries

to act immediately on the research. Both countries have made statements that from

2030 onwards new sales of petrol and diesel cars will be banned with only

electric cars being available in Israel while Denmark will phase out all new

hybrids by 2035. The two countries have very few plug-in battery cars at

present so it will be interesting to see how the incentives, infrastructure

and availability of cars progresses with the full support of their respective governments.

Bollinger Motors has announced that they will also build a pickup

version of their all-electric sport utility truck. Sharinging the same internals

as the B1 with its dual motor all-wheel-drive hydropneumatic

suspension and 120 kilowatt hour battery pack, incorporating more cargo options

was a priority from b2. The rear tray will be the same size as a traditional

six by four trailer and for carrying 16 foot lengths of timber it will also have

the same pass through design as the B1. With 520 horsepower and 0-60 mile per

hour time of 6.5 seconds, a 100 mile per hour

top speed, 10 to 20 inches of variable ground clearance, a 7 a half thousand

pound towing capacity, 200 mile range, room for four adults, fast charging and a

portable power supply for tools, machines and even off-grid cabins, this could be

the only vehicle you need for the rest of your life

I showed my partner these and she definitely wasn't all that complimentary

about the looks but for me, as I've been a big fan of the Land Rover Defender ,I love it !

In Valencia Spain, Nissan has made their

debut in the fifth season of the Formula E championship at Circuit of Ricardo

Tomo. Driven by former Series champion Sebastien Buemi, Nissan finished the day

in eighth place with a time of 1:18.1 with lap times being nearly three

seconds faster than last year. The energy storage capacity has been doubled

compared to the generation 1 car so with new batteries. aerodynamics and no mid

race car swaps, the expectation is that there will be fast, close racing from the

22 drivers. If you want to see some crazy some crazy on board footage, then check out the YouTube

video of Sebastien Buemi with his front wheels coming off at the 2010 Chinese Grand Prix.

I'll put a link in the description. Now I'm a bit conflicted about the next

story. One of the best things about EVs is their lack of sound. The smooth almost

silent, effortless gliding along the road makes for an incredibly relaxing driving

experience but unfortunately this attribute can be a bit of a problem in

urban environments for pedestrians and especially for those who are visually

impaired. Ahead of new UK legislation which comes into effect in july 2019,

Jaguar has developed an audible vehicle alert system for the I pace which is

permanently active at speeds up to 20 kilometers per hour.

Have a listen to what they've come up with...

Now I totally understand the need for cars to make some noise but can you

imagine in ten to twenty years when there are millions of EVs on the road, the

potential cacophony of whining and beeping sounds coming out of vehicles

every time they're moving at less than 20 km/h. the Piaggio group in Italy has

started the online booking campaign for the Vespa elettrica where European

customers can reserve the first versions of the iconic scooter.

Performance-wise the scooter will be similar to the 50 cc models but with

much better acceleration and Hill starts The scooter will have a maximum range of

100 kilometers, a four-hour recharge time from the onboard charger using a

standard power point and a retail price of 6390 euros. Twist and go scooters

a perfect around town and if I didn't already have a electric cargo bike, I would

definitely consider one of these.

In our last story for the week, Alta motors, the

electric motorcycle company in California, has continued their

impressive performance racing against gas bikes with the latest podium finish

at the Carnegie Classic hill climb in Tracy California. Competing against

heavily modified race bikes up to 700cc, the nearly standard Redshift EXR

with an extended swing arm, managed to come in fourth place while in the enduro

climb shootout, a head-to-head battle through enduro obstacles before

heading straight up the hill to the finish line, they came in second.

Just as was putting this show together I came across a report that said that Alta

Motors had ceased operations while they look for new investors. This is really

disappointing as they've made some fantastic bikes but hopefully it's just

a small hiccup and not the end for this awesome company.

So thanks for tuning in to the show.

Robot-Assisted Gastric Bypass Surgery - Commented - Complete - FullHD - Duration: 16:24.

This video was recorded in October 2018 at the Navy Hospital, Marcílio Dias, in Rio de Janeiro.

In it, a complete robotic-assisted gastric bypass surgery is presented for the treatment of obesity

The main focus is to reinforce the technical details that must be observed to perform a reproducible and safe procedure

This same technique can be used by videolaparoscopic method

After the positioning of the trocars and fixation of the hepatic retractor theft is doubled and the time of the console starts

The assistant surgeon is in the surgical field and must have experience with the procedure and handling of the stapler

in the case we had the privilege of counting on the incomparable help of Dr. Marcella Alvarenga.

The procedure begins with the dissection of the angle of hiss, aim is to remove all fat from that region

creating conditions so that stapling is done only on the gastric wall

if possible the fat is not totally detached from the cardia, later it is used to cover the portion

which is the region with the highest risk of fistula

it is important to take care of the spleen, in this case it is the purple structure below the fat in the center of the screen

A gauze is placed on the previously dissected left diaphragmatic pillar and will be useful

to guide the correct direction of dissection of the posterior wall of the stomach

it is important to keep the gas close to the gastric wall

this prevents it from sliding in the spleen direction

Dissection of the small gastric curvature begins

close to the second vessel from the gastric esophagus

it is preferable to keep the dissection plane as close as possible to the serosa of the stomach

in order to prevent lesions of branches of the vagus nerve and of the main vascularization of the stomach

the dissection ceases at the time the gastric retrocavity is reached

It is important to request that the anesthesiologist remove the orogastric catheter used to empty the stomach immediately after anesthetic induction

and confirm that it has been removed in order to prevent it from being accidentally stapled

The stapler is positioned and angled so as to effect a horizontal stapling of the anterior wall

and posterior of the stomach with blue charge (which is ideal for thick intermediate tissues).

The stapler is closed and before being fired one must await its accommodation in the fabric for at least 15 seconds

The stapling is performed, and the stapler is kept closed for another fifteen seconds

before it is opened, this decreases the chance of bleeding.

The fat around the clamp line in the region of the future anastomosis

is resected in order to avoid getting in the middle of the anastomosis

possible vessels that are in the area that will be stapled should be cauterized

in order to avoid bleeding within the anastomosis

The posterior wall is dissected towards the gauze

At the time the gauze is identified, it is not removed immediately

because it is useful for maintaining the field and helps in widening the newly created window

The diaphragmatic pillar should be well exposed and the posterior gastric wall should be free of fat

The gauze is then removed from the cavity under direct vision

The anesthesiologist is asked to introduce fouchet orogastric catheter with 32 french

which serves as a template for the new stomach, also known as gastric pouch

The catheter is guided until it reaches the medial angle of the stapling.

Two blue 45mm loads are used to perform vertical stapling near the fouchet catheter

so that pouch with about 50ml is created

Both stapling lines are revised, looking for glitches or bleeds, if a reinforced PDS wire is found

The large epiploon is mobilized until it is inserted into the transverse colon.

The horizontal section of the same is performed in this region, which facilitates the raising of the food loop and the closure of the meso.

The epiploon is sectioned vertically, from the transverse colon to the great gastric curvature

Possible bleeds are controlled without difficulty with the harmonic scalpel

The angle of treitz (which is the origin of the proximal jejunum) is identified and the proximal jejunum is mobilized towards the pouch to make the gastro-enteric anastomosis

the handle moves up clockwise

My preference is to mobilize as little jejunum as possible from the angle of treitz to reduce the risk of possible vitamin deficiencies, especially b12, in the late postoperative period.

The jejunum is presented between the robotic tweezers a small hole is created to allow the entry of the endogrammer

It is important to keep the handle stretched by the two auxiliary tweezers while the aperture is performed

A hole is created in the pouch at the posterior medial edge of the staple line. It is important not to have fat near the hole

as it will require a complete visualization of the pouch serosa during the anastomosis preparation

The stapler, with white load, is positioned, being careful not to include any grease in the area to be stapled

The two ends of the stapler are aligned so that a staple line with 3cm

sufficient to prevent dysphagia. After firing and opening the stapler, it is withdrawn after a small movement to decrease its opening

which avoids the widening of the anastomotic gap. The gap closure is made with PDS 3.0 sero-muscular solid suture.

As a curiosity, in the old days a plastic ring was placed on the pouch, just above the anastomosis

with the objective of limiting the diameter of the food that the patient could ingest, which could contribute to long-term weight maintenance

However, besides not having a statistical advantage in relation to weight control

this device can cause numerous problems, being currently abandoned by most surgeons

the sero-muscular suture causes the mucosa not to appear in the middle of the suture line

Since the anastomosis has no tension, the surgeon can draw the suture line every two points, maintaining good tension throughout its length

This saves the adjuster from constantly pulling the suture line and avoids weakening of the thread.

The epiploon is positioned in the cephalic position and the transverse colon is lifted

the mesenteric gap between the transverse colon and the proximal jejunum (also known as the Pettersen space)

is closed with PDS 3.0 continuous suture to prevent internal herniation

Small bleeds in the meso are possible at this time, and usually stop after the suture is completed.

Attention is drawn to the efferent loop of the gastro-enteric anastomosis

This loop is traversed so that proximal tracking is shifted to the left

with movements counterclockwise, and about one and a half meters are traveled

A new opening is made in the distal jejunum with a harmonic scalpel

Another opening is made in the proximal jejunum

A new white load is introduced at each opening and an anastomosis is made

using the full extent of the load of the stapler

The stapler is withdrawn in a manner similar to that shown in the first anastomosis

and the anastomotic gap is closed identically to the previous one, with PDS 3.0 wire. extramucosal continuous suture

The same wire used in the closure of the anastomotic gap is used, without interruption for the meso closure of the burial-entire anastomosis

It is important to close the space between the loops and the gap between the mesos to avoid future internal hernias

the meso of the biliary loop, lateral to gastro-entero anastomosis is transfixed with blunt dissection

and a last white charge is introduced

it is important to leave the segment close to gastroenteroanastomosis as short as possible

in order to prevent it from becoming a food reservoir.

After the handle section the staple lines are inspected

small bleeding can be controlled with cauterization or suturing.

The epiploon is positioned over the clamp lines to prevent fistulas

The hepatic retractor and the trocars are removed under direct vision. It is not routine to leave abdominal drain.

The patient is referred, in most cases to the room after surgery, initiates liquid oral test diet the day after surgery along with clexane 40mg subcutaneous

, on the second postoperative day, is discharged with a complete liquid diet for 21 days and clexane for another 10 days

Why Oil Change Shops are a Scam - Duration: 5:16.

rev up your engines, Michael says hey Scotty, what's the deal with these oil change

shops, you going for an oil change before you leave they tell you need an air filter

transmission fluid, new oil pan, excetera

okay it's called capitalism, I remember when I was a kid and I was going we're

going to New York my father's going to play bridge and I was riding with him to

hang out in New York City and we're going on New York State throughway, so he

goes in and those days was full service gasoline, they filled your car up, well

you go in fill it up, kid tells my father you need a new air filter and my father

who ran his own gas station said, hey kid I just put a new one in before we took the

trip to New York City you're of it, but the kid got paid like fifty cents for

every air filter he sold, so it's the same thing that you're gonna find here, people are

just selling you things that you don't necessarily need, they're told to do it

they get a percentage cut, you need to check all that stuff yourself, you know

look at it and then you know if it's dirty change it, if it's something that

is old for mileage or years put it in a little notebook in your glove box and

then you know when you really need a change

Cooper sport GB says hey Scotty what's your opinion on classic minis, oh I love

the classic minis, the classic minis I'm not talking about these modern ones that

BMWs making in England, I'm talking about the classic ones, post-world War two, the

English wanted a small reliable car and they came up with the minis they're the

Morris garages a front-wheel drive cute little vehicle that was cheap that

could run for a long time, take up a tiny space and not that slow, I mean they

could zip around they had no top-end, they didn't go that fast but they're

very interesting, cars it was the first real mass-produced front-wheel drive car

and they sold millions of those things, you know there are long stay away

from the modern minis the modern minis are BMW designs, they cost too much they

break down, when they get older they have electrical failure problems, they're

automatic transmissions are garbage, the standards are okay, but I liked those old

classic minis I think those are neat cars, my neighbors from England she

had one she was in England she still dreams about it she loved that car,

Christopher bear says Scotty, I'm looking to purchase a classic car Datsun

240z, I live in East Coast and a lot in the West Coast, you think it's worth the risk

of purchase from California, yeah if you want one that isn't rusted out those 240z's

were killer cars, and their simpler cars too cuz the 240z had carburetors

on it, it's not fuel-injected you can fix that stuff easily yourself and

there's many parts readily available, and if you get a car from California that's

actually been there the whole time and the frame isn't rotten, you can't go

wrong the car's not gonna rust and if you're gonna bring it to New York my

advice is, put it up in the winter when the salts on the road and only drive it

in the summer, cuz you don't want to ruin a classic like that if you get a good

one and fix it up and they are worth money their classic cars and people really

like those things they're pretty well made, like I said you can still get parts

of those things pretty readily, Sam I am so say Scotty I just got my first manual

transmission car, should I change the manual transmission fluid if so much how

much should I remove and add, manual transmissions are only splash

lubrication there's gears inside and the oil inside

just splashes around and lubricants them, it's not like an automatic transmission

that has a pump inside that pumps the fluid and it shifts by fluid pressure

all's it is displace lubrication but that said, it's a good idea to change

the fluid every eighty thousand miles or so, now manual transmissions are easy

there's a drain plug, you take it out and all the fluid drains out, then you put

that plug back in and then above it somewhere there's an add plug and you'll

unscrew that and you pump new fluid in there until it comes out that hole, their

very easy to do and you know every 80 90 thousand miles change the fluid it'll

make them last longer, eagle arms USA says Scotty would you

recommend replacing the lifters that are ticking in a 1988 Bronco 2 or to get

something else, you know people are starting to collect those old Broncos

and lifters aren't all that expensive you know, if the vehicle is in good shape

otherwise it really doesn't burn a lot of oil and it isn't a clunker that's all worn

out, I'd do it you know those old things that can run long time and their

simpler, plus since it's a classic Ford design there's always parts available

for those things, it's not like you got something that you can't get parts for

anymore, there's parts that are ready available for those things and if you

don't mind the relatively poor gas mileage that that thing gets, if I were you I'd go ahead and fix it

Allen es says Scotty what do you think about weird electrical gremlins

in older cars, I have an 04 Ford Ranger that only blows AC out of the defrost

vents and nowhere else, no heat either all that stuff it may be old but it's

modern enough 04, what happens is your HVAC system, the heating vent and ac

that's all run by computers and you're now stuck in the default, which is

defrost when the system breaks, it goes to defrost and stays there it's a safety

thing, so that when a winter your windows won't fog up and you can't see or kill

yourself, it's not a bad idea really, but you have a problem in that system knowing those

it's usually the control unit goes bad and that won't switch them back and

forth anymore, you're going to have to find a guy like me that has a dealer level scan tool

to do bi-directional testing to see, is this working, are the actuators

working and you can't do that without one of those computers it's a very

complex system, so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair

videos, remember to ring that Bell!

Well, they hit us or we hit them

very softly but enough to, enough to wake you up.

- [Elayna] The boys are up to something.

May I see what's going on?

- Just having a diesel fight kind of like

what they had in Zoolander.

("Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham)

- [Elayna] I can smell it.

- There's been a leak in the fuel line

which I haven't been able to trace

and then John has figured out that it's

from the fuel filter.

Probably from when I changed it

when we were in Antigua.

- [Elayna] Okay. - I would say!

So we need to, we're gonna replace the fuel filter

or we'll have to order some online

or hopefully they've got it at Just Catamarans

where we'll be very soon.

- [Elyana] When you're done, we're going

to the fresh food market.

- Yeah, John's coming.

- Hello! How are you?

- Good!

Had enough of the boys working,

I'm taking them to the organic, vegan market

which is just down the street here,

so that's gonna be fun!

Is it possible to see humidity?

I swear I can see it, it's everywhere!

- This isn't even close to how bad it's gonna get.

- [Elayna] No I'm gonna die.

Oh fancy seeing you guys here!

(cheering)

- This place is just heaven - [Elayna] Guilty!

- I'm gonna come out of here,

I'm gonna gain ten pounds in this place.

- [Elyana] Proud of it!

- Oh yeah, for sure, it's delicious!

Absolutely delicious.

- I tasted it. It was delicious!

- This is what Danielle recommended we eat.

- [Riley] Do it again

Do it again, I didn't get it.

(all laughing)

- It's good.

- They're real easy to grow.

- Great, I'll get this one as well

- [Riley] After eating like a greedy Westerner

at the market, we headed over to Rhys

and Maia's boat for a boat tour.

- My older daughter, Sophia, painted that for me

years ago before she realised I was into sailing.

And so, she painted it and gave it to me

and I knew that one day, I'd be hanging it in my boat.

- [Elyana] And there you go!

- This is a 2003 Beneteau 393

I consider it a 40 foot boat, it's got two cabins.

There's a three cabin version, but we were specifically

looking for the two cabin version

which has an L shaped or U shaped kitchen

and the extra cabin is gone and therefore we have

an extra large cockpit locker.

But then the kitchen would have been over here

where this little desk is,

so I have a nice little work area too.

- [Elyana] So spacious.

- When we were looking for boats, Rhys did a lot of the

online searches, he knew you wanted a Beneteau

so he spent a lot of time--

- Because of you guys!

Well, no, I think that you had shown me that a Beneteau

Sometimes people say things about Beneteaus,

that they can't be world class cruisers and stuff like that.

But you had shown me that it wasn't.

I liked the style.

We'd sailed several of them when we'd charter boats

I'm one of those procrastinators by over-researching things

- [Elyana] Well, we need one of those onboard

(laughing)

- I had researched boats for years.

- I research a lot, excuse me! (all laughing)

- [Elyana] You do, babe.

- I just gave myself a deadline

I said "you gotta stop researching"

And so my deadline was January 1st of this year.

And so I found the boat and I worked real hard

and bought it in December.

Otherwise, I might still be researching

and not own a boat right now.

- You guys sailed down here to meet us,

how far did you have to sail?

- It was about 120, about 130 nautical miles.

We split it up into three days.

We got to do our first major sail

to come meet you guys.

And then so this trip is what

got us outside of our comfort zone.

- Hola!

Heard you guys had haircuts!

(laughing loudly)

- This is the 2008 Fountaine Pajot Salina 48

- [Elayna] She's beautiful!

- Thank you!

The owner's cabin with all my mess

- [Elayna] Oh my Gosh! This is like a bloody house in here.

You could dance in here. (laughing)

- So if you want to sell a boat to a girl,

this is how you do it here - [Elayna] Yeah look out!

- We have the built in sun deck over the dinghy

it makes the dinghy a nightmare to come upright

But I thought it would be cooler than it is

but it's nice.

- [Elayna] Alright!

- Big helm station, three can sit here comfortably

This is a great place to just sit and relax.

- [Elayna] Yeah, it's beautiful up here!

- In about a year and a half,

my girlfriend Tina and I are planning on

pulling the dock lines and not looking back.

- [Elayna] Alright, and what kind of destinations do you

have in mind?

- Well, I mean, we're in Florida

so the Bahamas is first. - [Elayna] Yup of course.

- And then we'll start moving our way south

and then wing it!

- [Elayna] Nice, I like your style!

Alright John, well thanks.

We love ya, thanks for the support dude!

- Thank you. (laughing together)

- [Elayna] What have we got?

- Stephan Starnes sent me lures that he

cast and hand turned them

I did not know that.

- [Elayna] Oh my Gosh, There's a logo!

- [Riley] What! - [Elayna] What!

Whoa, I hope the fish doesn't steal that one

that's special!

- Stephan, that's above and beyond

oh, I wish he'd put wire trace on there, mate.

I really don't want to lose this!

Thank you so much!

- [Elayna] And he's from North Carolina?

No, If you make it towards North Carolina or Virginia,

I'd like to buy you a beer.

Hopefully one day.

- That's amazing.

- [Elayna] And we're about to get wet!

Next time, join us as we wrap up our week

with our patrons and prepare to pull

La Vaga out of the water,

d the doc gets out the depth sounder

so we can all have a look at our new crew member

on the way.

Marshall JCM800 2203 + Celestion & Eminence - Duration: 10:19.

Hello my friends, how are you doing? Alright !!

Doing another video about amplifiers, speakers, gears and related ...

and today I will make a speaker comparison using this amp ... there's nothing else to say about it ...

it's a JCM800 2203 ... this is it ... THE amp

built to be success ... just that

an brief overview:

it's a 100 Watt tube amp with 4x EL34 on power stage and 3x 12AX7 on preamp

Single channel amp with gain, volume, bass, middle, treble and presence controls

and it's everything right and ready to melt faces

According his owner this red courvin finish on head and 4x12 cab - half stack set

were made only 200 pieces ... so this is a rare amp here in my workbench

And I couldn't miss this opportunity ...

So I want to play this amp on my Harley Benton cab loaded with Celestion Speakers

And then I will run this amp on my 2X12 cab with Eminence Speakers

I want to show you how this amp sounds with each speaker

My rig: Gibson Les Paul Studio ... the amp ...

Harley Benton 2x12 cab with Celestion G12T-75 and Vintage 30

both mics are Sennheiser E609

And I'll do the same with my other 2x12 cab with Eminence Private Jack and The Wizard

with the same mics

I'll play first each speaker separately and then combined on both cabs ...

Methodology: I'll start with low gain settings ...

Gain on 2 first ... then gain on 5

gain on 9 and at last I'll use a booster pedal

Straight on the amp's input ... to push a higain sound

the boost pedal is hidden right here ... it's a Marshall Bluesbreaker clone that I've made

It's just to crank the input section

with the classic setting ... low gain, volume on 10 and tone flat

The amp's equalization: Presence on 6, Bass on 7, Middle on 4 and Treble on 6

let's go ... starting with gain on 2

Now with gain on 5 ... check it out

Gain on 9 ...

Now with the boost pedal

Very well ... despite the color palette ... red, cream, blue ... a very interesting combination ...

is undoubtedly a great amplifier

and these was the speakers options that I had available to make this test ...

to give you an idea of how each of them can sound

If you liked click thumbs up ... subscribe to my channel

questions and suggestions leave in a comment

And I hope to see you soon !! All the best !!

Where is it, mate, just over there?

- We're having a serious movie night

here onboard La Vagabonde.

We're just waiting for the sun to set

which it nearly is, it's just going

between two buildings now.

And, yeah, we're gonna watch it outside

where it's not so hot!

("Fire Song" by Bay Station)

Alright, you guys, we've got one, two, three,

four movies to pick from.

- [Christian] Nacho Libre.

- It's so calm that whenever I'm swinging

around different way in the mooring balls

and we just hit that boat there.

La Vaga out of the water,

d the doc gets out the depth sounder

so we can all have a look at our new crew member

on the way.

Puppy First Day Home Tips - Professional Dog Training Tips - Duration: 9:56.

- Do you think can handle this much cuteness?

Well, today we're gonna talk about

your first day home with your new puppy.

And I've got this adorable little eight-week-old

puppy named Levi.

We're gonna talk to instructor Kim,

who is one of our head instructors

of our Head Start for Puppies program,

and she's just brought Levi home

just a couple of days ago,

and we're gonna talk to her about

her first couple days home with this

adorable four-legged family member.

I'm Ken Steepe, and welcome back to McCann Dogs.

(strumming guitar and dog barking)

So Levi isn't actually my puppy.

Levi belongs to Instructor Kim.

He is an eight-week-old Border Collie,

and she just brought him home the other day.

Now, Instructor Kim is one of our

head instructors for our Head Start for Puppies program,

so she knows a thing or two about

puppy behavior and puppy training.

So I thought this would be a great opportunity

to help you guys in our YouTube audience

to learn a little bit about what a professional

dog trainer would do when preparing to bring a puppy home.

Now Kim, you have another Border Collie at home, Charlie,

and it's been a while since you had a puppy,

so what did you have to get

to prepare for bringing little Levi home?

- Yeah, it's actually been about nine years, Ken,

since I've had a puppy.

So I didn't have a lot of my regular stuff at home.

For example, I had to purchase a small collar

that would fit the puppy.

I was lucky enough, I found two 21-inch crates

that I can use on their Vari kennels, the plastic crates.

- Yeah, that's perfect.

- On YouTube, not YouTube, sorry.

- That's all right.

- On Gigi. - Yeah.

- So I found those at a great price,

and I already had them, so I had one for my house,

and then one for the car.

And they both have blankets inside.

I bought some chewy bones, ones that are

appropriate for a puppy of this age,

so the softer, less opaque ones that Nylabone makes.

That was just a brand name, but--

- [Ken] Yeah, they're great bones, and puppies love them.

- Yeah, they're really good,

and they have a flavoring to them,

so they're kind of enticing.

I also bought a bag of our,

the food that I want to transition him over to.

So when I picked him up, the breeder provided

a small bag of what she had been feeding him.

And just because I have great success

with the product that I'm using on my older dog,

I want to stick with that name brand,

and use the puppy version.

So I bought a small bag of that,

so I can transition slowly.

You never want to just introduce

new food to a puppy right away,

because that will upset their sensitive stomachs.

- Yeah, yeah.

Bringing a new puppy home can be stressful

for both the puppy and for the puppy owner.

So talk a little bit about how you prepared

for that, for the first night, for example,

that little Levi came home.

- So the night before, I made sure I got done

some of my housework that I wanted to do,

my laundry, just sort of organized everything

so everything was set up and ready to go,

and I went to bed early.

- Okay, that's really important, and don't overlook that,

having all of those chores and things done

ahead of bringing the puppy home,

because I'm sure when the puppy comes home

for those first days, you're really busy.

- Yep, there's a lot to think about.

I mean, puppies require constant supervision,

so whenever the puppy is not in his create,

I'm always there within eyes

distance away from him, literally.

- Sure.

- So that I can make sure that he

doesn't get into anything he shouldn't.

I keep him safe.

- Now, it's likely that your puppy's

going to have an accident in the house,

whether you're supervising them or not.

Sometimes they just, they've gotta go.

Their bladders are small, they haven't learned to hold it

since they've come home from the litter,

so tell us a little bit,

you mentioned that he had an accident

before you came to the hall here.

So tell us a little bit about how you

manage that situation and what to do

if your puppy does have an accident in the house.

- Yeah, it was funny, because I knew that

I should have been supervising him,

and I made the mistake of supervising him

by knowing where he was, not actually seeing him.

- [Ken] Sure.

- And that's the opportune time

when accidents do happen, of course.

- It can happen to anyone.

- Absolutely, and it's generally when you

have to be somewhere, which is the case for tonight.

- (laughs) Yeah, exactly.

- So, for the most part,

I'm, as I mentioned early, I'm always supervising,

I'm always watching him, but I also keep him

on a very tight schedule.

So as soon as he comes out of his crate,

we get our leash on, we go outside.

I live in a condo, so I'm lucky

that I'm on the first floor,

and I'm close to an exit door,

but I still make sure that I

take him outside right away

as soon as he comes out of his crate,

and I try and give him a chance

to do everything that he needs to do while he's out there.

So if he gets a little bit distracted,

we'll try and take him to a new place and go again.

If he doesn't go, if there's nothing that he's done,

then I would put him right back into his crate

and try him again in maybe five or so minutes,

and take him back out again.

Sometimes the world can be a little bit distracting

for these little guys who haven't seen a whole lot

from where they were.

- For sure.

Now, being a professional dog trainer,

some of our viewers might think that

the training starts as soon as the puppy gets home.

But we know that's not really the case.

So tell us what you do for the first day,

and the first couple of days that Levi comes home.

- Yeah, it's extremely stressful for a puppy.

If you can imagine they have just spent

the last eight or so weeks with their litter mates,

and in their home environment.

That's the first place that they've ever known,

and they get taken away from their litter mates

and brought to a strange environment

where there could be a wide variety

of things that are kind of frightening for them.

Potentially other dogs or other animals, cats,

I have cats at home.

Just even the sounds of a house could be different

than what they were used to in their

kennel environment, perhaps, so I really take the time to,

allow him just to adjust to his surroundings,

to investigate and check things out, but in a safe way.

So he's, again, always supervised,

and I prevent, I put things away,

making sure that he can't really get into too much trouble

while he's investigating, and just taking his time,

and also I'm being very respectful for the

animals that I have at home,

my cats and my other dog, and I'm giving them

the space that they need.

So keeping them a little bit separated,

doing shift, so to speak.

- Sure.

- I'll have him in his crate for a little bit,

and the rest of the animals can have their

run around the house, and then I might put those guys away

and just let him out, and take turns,

alternating a little bit here and there.

I'm trying not to overwhelm him too much,

you know, really keeping an eye on

what he's able to actually manage,

and then give him that quiet time, too.

One of the things I noticed that,

especially a Border Collie,

but a lot of puppies are like this,

they don't have a self-moderator.

So they will continue to play themselves too hard.

- [Ken] Right.

- And they really do need that sleep time.

We don't need to be doing a whole lot with them

all the time for those first few weeks.

So I might have him out and I might

play with some toys, let him investigate a little bit,

and then maybe after an hour or so,

I put him back in his crate for a couple hours,

and bring him back out, you know, to keep work--

- Totally, yeah.

It's a great way to install like an off switch.

- [Kim] Yes.

- So that he knows when he goes into his crate

or his kennel that it's time that he can relax,

and you know, recuperate and recover.

I think that's really important,

and that's something, the mistake, one mistake that I made

with my Lab puppy, before I was a dog trainer,

before I really understood,

is I gave her complete freedom.

And she was harassing our older Lab,

and it was just a really, it was an unfair scenario

for the other animals in the house.

So I think that's a really important point.

When Instructor Kim talks about her puppy

being out of his kennel and supervising him,

she doesn't just trust it'll make good choices.

We know that puppies will explore the world

with their mouths, and get into all sorts of things.

So even in the first day,

or the first couple days home,

Instructor Kim got a house line for Levi.

And if you haven't seen the video

where I talk about the house line, I'll link it above.

But tell us a little bit about

how you've used the house line with Levi.

- Yeah, it's a great tool.

It allows him the freedom, but also my control,

so that he can't get into too much trouble.

If he were to, let's say,

take off with my shoe and run underneath the bed,

I say this because this has actually almost happened,

with the house line I was actually able to

step on it, stop him from getting too far,

and just redirect that.

So any of that unwanted behavior,

I can just stop it right away.

And it's also great, too, because I don't want him,

being a herding breed specifically,

but I really don't want him getting in the habit

of chasing my cats.

I want them to live very cohesively in the house,

and respectful of each other.

And so if they decide that they've had enough

and they don't want him in his space,

the white line is a really great tool,

because I can actually stop him

from getting to a point where he's

really upset my cats.

- Sure.

I want to thank Instructor Kim for

helping us out today, and I certainly want to

thank little Levi.

you're definitely going to want to watch that.

On that note, I'm Ken,

this is Instructor Kim, and this is Levi.

Happy training.

"It's powerful and it just liberates you in the end." - Audiences Love The Roommate! - Duration: 3:21.

I expected something very light and fluffy and I was really delightfully

sort of surprised that it moved me and it was light and funny but also moving

and touching.

Sharon: What's this?

Robyn: That's goya!

Sharon: What now?

Robyn: Goya - it's a vegetable. A bitter gourd.

Sharon: Okay! Yes. Yes. Wow. Well, I see I'm gonna learn a lot having you as a roommate!

I think this is probably the best performance we've seen!

It was very thought-provoking and very different from what I expected and they were incredible!

Sharon: I'm sorry I'm nervous! I mean, a roommate - I've never had a roommate.

I'm 54 years old - a roommate?!

We loved it, it was complex, I wondering how my boys

would think of it - but all in all great performance, as always!

Robyn: Everything I do I just need to do it - no half measures just jump!

Sharon: Like moving to Iowa!

Robyn: Yeah! Like moving to Iowa!

Sharon: I was going to make eggs - you want some eggs?

Robyn: I can't but thanks.

Sharon: Oh, vegan! Vegan!

I really like the show! It kind of subverted a lot of my

expectations for what you know two middle-aged women living together would

be like and I thought it did that in a way that was very interesting and tasteful. I thought it worked really well!

Robyn: You told him you smoked pot?!

Sharon: I didn't mean to! I meant to say some bullshit mom things: Stay safe! Be careful!

Don't ride the subway at night! Then I said that instead.

So I really like the way

the music transition from this kind of more folksy thing to the more urban

sounds and you can see the juxtaposition of the characters and their lives kind

of colliding, yeah!

Robyn: Sharon you have got to stop thinking of yourself as basically dead.

You're actually younger the most US presidents. You are so young that if you

were a president you would be a young president, okay?

So, just stop mummifying yourself!

It's powerful and it just liberates you in the end. You feel like

totally revived when you attend and that's sometimes so important in life.

Sharon: My roommate is very... she's very... there's something very... about her. The thing is:

She's an interesting person! She knows things, she does things!

Everybody always told me not to do things! your father never mind, my mother always said "Don't!"

Robyn just says "Do" and then she does!

Are you there?

The story was so surprising and so funny and heartbreaking at the same time!

Sharon: I just want to say:

I'm very happy!

And that's all!

Goodbye!

going on we still got some NFL picks to give you that's right we have everyone eats

for free week eight woo what you talk about Beast

what you talk about everybody eats for free and don't forget you get all the

drinks you can handle if Oakland Raiders can pull a win off at home against

Indianapolis Colts now against the spread I guess the points who the heck

knows I would just take whatever you can give because I would take if there is

minus 20 million against Oakland hell no let's not do that that would just be

wrong but Oakland Raiders aren't doing that well I mean they pay their coaches

very well but Oakland Raiders are at one in five for this season they should kept

Jack Del Rio at least he knows how to win football games hell he's a retired

football player from the Minnesota Vikings so how do you think Jon fills

these days Indianapolis Colts aren't doing the best either they're add two

and five now Buffalo Bills against Indianapolis Colts

they need Indianapolis close played a really well game very very well game in

week seven NFL picks and games and all the national TV saw that Indianapolis

Colts beat the Buffalo Bills but who are the

Oh bills you never know if Buffalo Bills are gonna come out and play like they

playing against the Minnesota Vikings or are they gonna play like they played

against Indianapolis Colts and only score five points to the Indianapolis

Colts 37 now Oakland Raiders they travel to London and they lost a horrible loss

in London what a boring freaking game for those London fans 37 37 it should have

been 37 to 3 but it was 27 to 3 because the Seattle seahawks decided to take a rest

on not scoring more points I feel bad for those Oakland Raiders at least they

got a rest in between anyhow it's all-you-can-eat who wins this game if

Oakland Raiders win this game we will open up the stadium we will open up the

concession stands and we will open up all the coolers because if Oakland

Raiders do win they got money to spread they got money to spread hell they pay

their coaches like they don't care about money right but I would take

Indianapolis Colts in this straight up to win and if the points decide to give

Indianapolis Colts the favorite in this game take up to minus 8 in this game or

plus 8 for Oakland Raiders but I would tell you against the spread Indianapolis

Colts win this game and straight up now is that crazy is that what you like the

beast talking about do you like it when I talk like this because you know what

this is not fun I would rather say it like this

woo pack your bags we're going up to the mountains that's right we got the

Green Bay Packers going in and play the Los Angeles Rams woo

that's gonna be one hell of a game I'll tell you right now I'll tell you right

now the Green Bay Packers already got all their gear on and they're gonna look

up at that mountain and they're gonna be climbing they're going to get them some

Rams that's right those Packers who are the underdogs in this game out plus 9

that's right now the Raiders the Rams everybody knows woo why do I call them

the Raiders because they're destroyer that's right there could only be

one good team in Los Angeles that's right so let's not put the Raiders there

let's keep the Rams there because wow they're the favor in this game - nine

those Rams are undefeated woo undefeated now could the cheese heads

come in there with all their pack up gear climb that mountain like Rocky

Balboa and do the eye of the tiger on the Rams could their Rams have

their first loss against Aaron I woo Aaron Rodgers and the pack

woo I'll tell you right now I think there's

gonna be a crazy crazy upset that's right it's gonna be crazy all the way up that

mountain Oh take the plus nine for those Packers

because they're ready for this game and straight-up win Green Bay Packers win

this game because they're full of cheese and they got all their gear the Rams do

win but not this weekend not for week eight they will have their first loss at

home against the Green Bay Packers plus nine for the Packers and straight up on

the Packers woo now that's how I like to talk crazy let's rest this with a San

Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals I don't know what to say about

this game all I know it's gonna be fan Appreciation Day because the San

Francisco 49ers are at one and six and the Arizona Cardinals they're all at one

and six now don't get me wrong San Francisco 49ers can play football they

lost against the Los Angeles Rams 39 -10 and Arizona can play football they also

like to score sometimes they beat now they didn't beat they lost against

Denver Broncos 45 - 10 but they these two teams do have something in common

they both like to score 10 points now when they both played the Rams

if you want to go against an undefeated team San Francisco 49ers at least scored 10

points in this game that made in a 39- 10 game now the Arizona Cardinals when

they played the Rams it wasn't that good it was zero they scored zero points to

34 for the Rams so why do I say it's a fan appreciate Sunday you can tell me who

you want to take I don't know who I want to take you can take San Francisco

because they at least sell tickets still to the Arizona Cardinals 0 tickets woo

but I'm pulling it up set it is at home give those Arizona Cardinals some love

take the Arizona Cardinals straight up when this game I don't care if the

stadium's empty because the last time I watched a game in Arizona the stadium

was pretty dead pretty quiet so let's fill up that Stadium in Arizona and win

that game for the Arizona Cardinals and those fans that do sit in the stadium

and just wait for a victory NFL happy dance touchdown dance

man you hear all that squeaking the Beast needs this quit eating all those

in all those in all those crazy

and only lost one now they are traveling into one of the loudest craziest

stadiums in the world they are going into Minneapolis Minnesota this coming

up week 8 NFL picks and games to play those Minnesota Vikings the last time

the New Orleans Saints were in Minneapolis they lost because there was

a miracle that happened in the Minneapolis area a miracle I say it was

a phenomenal miracle that's right and if you don't know what I'm talking

about Google miracle in Minneapolis because everybody knows Diggs had a

miracle in Minneapolis woo but right now let's get into this year we have

week 8 we had a New Orleans Saints coming into Minnesota that's right and

we already told you what the record was the New Orleans Saints week 6 didn't do too

bad broke some records because it's all about breaking records

and both of these teams right the New Orleans Saints like to win and also make

up new records and beat old records and for weeks seven it was a 24 to 23

against those Baltimore Ravens now the Minnesota Vikings they travel

all the way to that love me New York State they even brought back some

t-shirts Love New York that's right that's right but they then make New York

fans that happy at all the Minnesota Vikings they trumped that's right Donald

Trump wasn't even there but the Minnesota Vikings 37 to 17 woo skol

that's right if you haven't shut this off already I don't care if you have

already I don't care because I don't even care about this football picks no more

or do I 37 to 17 but who breaks records for this game the New Orleans Saints do

they make some new records or the Minnesota Vikings do they make records

let's not talk about who's gonna go to the Super Bowl right now let's talk

about who's gonna win this game the Minnesota Vikings are the favorite in

this game by a - one and a half that's all that's all folks and the New Orleans

Saints are in a plus 1/2 that's all that's all folks I don't know who it

should be favored in this game I think they're both great NFL teams I think

they're both well coached and well groomed they got lots and lots of well

groomed players even better than this crazy beast that's right this crazy

beast tape ministry up to win this game because it's at home and if you're only

ain't give us - wanna have well fine take those points now let's talk about a

real great match up we had a New Orleans the New Orleans we just talked about the

New Orleans that's right we had the New England Patriots see how crazy I get

is key I just look at these stupid notes because I ain't ESPN NFL I should have one of

those projectors so I could talk like this we have the New England Patriots

that's right they are going in to play the Buffalo Bills

are you serious the beast are they kinda Buffalo Bills hmm who's Buffalo I mean

who is Buffalo can they score points I don't know I don't really know um

can they score points can Bill's score points hell yes Buffalo Bills are

not a bad team they have scored like 81 points this year I'm reading my monitor

right now but the New England Patriots they'd really like to score points

they've scored 214 points to be precise 214 points to 81 that's right and only

seven games 214 points the Buffalo Bills of only scored 81 points my an take

times 3 of 81 that is 243 that's right that would have to be 21 games to catch

up to the New England Patriots 7 games to get even close to how many points the

New England Patriots score woo so I believe Tom Brady and Bill

will be taking the Buffalo Bills to school that's right because the New

England Patriots they like to score place and we know the Buffalo Bills they

don't score that many points so take New England Patriots straight up

for a straight up win and hell it's about points it's against the spread

it's events the lines woo take those - 13 for the New England Patriots because

they like to school their opponents woo til next time

ah crazy I say I say I crazy

Habitar - Capítulo 1: Propiedad - Duration: 15:42.

My name is Gabriela,

I have lived in this house for less than a year, since October.

This used to be my dad's house, and I inherited it last year.

I'm Marco, I'm a industrial engineer.

We are five people, I have three kids.

We liked this place because it was outside the city and it was quiet.

We have been living here in Chicureo for five years.

I share this property with the bank.

I'm Elena Rodriguez, I live here in Villa San Guillermo 2.

This is my house.

I obtained it 18 years ago through the housing subsidy.

It took a lot of effort, but I made it,

and in only two years I will be done with the payments,

for I chose to pay for it within 20 years.

I lived with my two kids, but now it's only me and my partner.

It's just the two of us now.

My name is Manuel,

and this house used to be a workshop,

then later I built the second floor to turn it into a house.

And we are in Peñalolén, at the Ecological Community.

I love living here.

Honestly, when I arrived it was a little awkward…

Because my dad died here,

thus, how disquieting; his death, the burden, his house.

Besides, I'm in the same line of work as he was,

so, It's kind of a heavy load, you know?

But as days go by living in this house,

I've come to see it more as a gift.

I see the floor, how beautiful! How nice the shower is, I mean, and the room!

Getting up on a Saturday and looking at the silent courtyard is a gift.

I mean, I never thought of myself at this age

having inherited a place that is… I swear it's like a oasis of peace…

Also, for working it's…

The house is designed to live it, to be happy in it.

Generally, my family cares a lot about things, about objects, about memories,

about grandmother's stuff, about whoever's little thing,

so that has influenced me a lot because I'm quite a collector.

I really tend to keep and care about things, about memories, about objects,

so, every time I move

I carry stuff along, a lot of stuff…

and it's funny, cause after moving and carrying, and moving and carrying,

I kind of returned to the house where everything is.

Apart from my dad's things, also my grandma's and mine, and It's like

finally, I have the space where… everything is there.

For me, the house is kind of the place where the family lives.

Right now, my kids are small.

So, I'm going to try to live in a place where…

where they are as comfortable as possible,

while they are still growing up.

Well, when I was a kid, I lived close to what is now Alto Las Condes mall.

That was the edge of Santiago.

Kennedy Avenue was a dirt road,

what is now Alto Las Condes was a pasture then,

and I used to hang out with friends on the street.

And you were able to do that because the city allowed for that.

Today, on the same spot is the Alto Las Condes,

Kennedy Avenue has eight lanes

– they are high-speed tracks.

it's impossible for a kid to ride his bike around Kennedy Avenue,

or play football. So…

if you want to experience these kinds of things, you need to live close to a park,

which means living in an apartment building;

or you move away from the city to a place…

that is more protected, quote unquote,

meaning that the kids will have free access to the street.

We wandered around looking for a house, but the place we liked the most was here.

First, because it's a solid house; we had a courtyard.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms; a master bedroom and a smaller one.

There are three beds in one bedroom,

and in the master bedroom there's a double bed,

with two bedside tables, two chests, and a TV set.

And… downstairs I've got a big living and dining room, a bathroom and a kitchen.

A backyard with many plants, with my animals

I've got guinea pigs and one dog.

I had a studio in La Florida, but I got robbed,

and then I was invited to occupy this place.

I turned it into a studio for painting and other things, and I built the house after.

The only thing I bought were the poles;

the rest were things I collected.

Later, up here I had bought the planks.

I bought them one year, and the next year I built the house.

My bed was in here before the house was ready.

I was already living the house, because I really enjoyed it…

I think that's a really nice part, I mean… having everything open;

having only sticks around, and being open to the exterior, it was fantastic.

So, just then my apartment was about to get sold, and I was going to have to leave.

Besides, I already had the idea of wanting to live close to my family.

In fact, when my dad was still alive, during his two last weeks,

I was like, "ok dad, I want to move here" …

And my dad… I was sleeping here on a mattress,

here in his office, to keep him company.

And then one day he says: "it makes so much sense to me that you are living here".

I didn't pay too much attention. And then he died.

Then my sisters were like:

"Hey Gabriela, why don't you move into dad's house?"

And I was like, "no way! It'd scare the shit out of me to be living…

Imagine if dad would suddenly appear", and like, no, no, no, no, no.

And… then one day I thought "You know what? Yes!"

I felt like I had to be there.

And I remember when I first arrived here, it was like…

I remember how I went back to mourning; I was able to cry, you know?

Reading his diaries, watching tapes, finding things…

it was like settling down here just to have feelings.

Something that for eight months, which you'd say is not much,

but somehow you want to be with the things, you want to be in the space.

That restriction had been kind of… kind of sad.

And then sure, coming here, and for two weeks…

to be like watching every little thing, you know?

Having my own house was important because I think every person

needs to have a place to live, a place, where no-one bothers you.

Where no-one tells you: "be quiet, don't disturb, don't shout", and so and so.

I used to live with my sister, and my kids couldn't yell there.

We had specific times for using the bathroom.

We couldn't use it too late, because… no, we had to knock.

I never received any visitors. Nobody came to my house.

We had two rooms, small ones,

and I needed my kids to be fine.

I wanted nobody to tell them "no".

That's why I wanted to have a house, because

as a girl, I never had something of my own.

And this was big! You could say… it was like a castle for me,

because it was important for my kids and for me.

I did the house extensions

with money we received from a…

a suit we filed; a class action lawsuit

we filed with the neighborhood.

My dream was to have a big bathroom, a big kitchen, with a tub,

and that's what I did.

The kitchen used to be behind me here, to the right, and the bathroom to the left.

It was tiny.

Two people wouldn't fit in there, it would be too full.

And the bathroom was tiny as well, there was only a shower, no tub.

And I really longed for a tub.

You'll always be changing or improving something.

Now it's going to be a bigger kitchen, and…

that will be much more comfortable.

Usually, when you get an old piece of furniture,

you might see a lot of history in the piece itself,

all the care that goes into the making of a piece of furniture.

I've always noticed in a house, no matter what kind of house,

that it becomes interesting if it has an interesting piece of furniture.

It's as if the objects in a house

make it seem better or worse.

I painted everything,

the whole house, I even painted the white parts,

as a way of changing the energy, the smell, I don't know.

I changed the colour of the kitchen and hung small frames; it kind of made it look rejuvenated.

The living room as well: I put up some small paintings,

different furniture, I mean, things got mixed up;

it's like some of the furniture stayed,

and I brought new pieces in, you know?

That has changed as well.

And the bathroom, too, I painted the guest bath room pink.

Like, a radical change.

I don't know, that's it, like adding my stuff, you know?

Which is much less than what was already here.

But it's like building one's own space.

I don't feel like it's a lifelong possession.

I rather want it to be comfortable as long as I am,

as long as I can enjoy it with my kids.

For me, the idea of transcendence,

lies in what I can build with my family in terms of experience;

enjoying, going to the beach… on holidays we go camping.

For my kids to remember me, to remember the good times they had with their dad;

how it was fun, how they could go to places

that made them dream about different things,

how they made friends, their family environment is great.

They live in a place with friendly people, who are nice, calm;

and where they are safe.

The acquirement of this house was an accomplished goal for me,

even if I still owe two years of payment, I think I kind of already made it.

It's my tranquillity.

Back then, I used to say, if something happens to me,

my kids have a place to stay, and no-one will kick them out.

It will be their refuge,

in case something turns out wrong for them.

I mean, they won't have to worry as much as we did about a place to live,

because this will already be here.

I want my children and grandchildren to enjoy what I achieved.

I never dreamed much about houses,

but I always had the idea to build my own house.

That was always sort of… a longing.

I mean, it's weird, because I always thought about building a house myself

And it worked out that way.

Being a property owner through heritage has been like…

I mean, to begin with, it's a gift from heaven, of course,

and it has been kind of funny… I mean I have taken it with humour as well.

Because it can be a bit awkward to be twenty-…

because now I am 30, but being 29 and saying

I live in Las Condes, in a 200m2 house with a pool.

It's quite absurd, I mean, I don't need it, you know?

I know I don't need it, and a lot of people have judged me as well,

saying: "and what will you do in that house?! What will you do?!"

And it's like, yeah, what am I going to do, but you know what?

What would you do if your dad dies when you're 25?

Well, that … I mean, it has been like …

I took it with humour, you know?

More than shame. I live…

it's with a smile, I say: "you know? I'm 29 and I live in my house in Las Condes".

And I laugh about it, you know?

And the people who love me

laugh as well, because in the end it's funny.

And well, it's circumstantial as well, within a tragedy, you know?

It's tragic as well to lose your dad at a young age.

And one isn't prepared at 29 to receive a heritage like this.

But this is what one must live with.

I still have two years of payments.

But … that's nothing.

Because the total was 20 years.

I am 60 and I'll be 62 when I finish paying my house.

So, it will be a very important thing for me.

I think I'll throw a huge party…

to celebrate a triumph and an accomplished goal.

Honestly, it has never been a question, whether I have credit to buy things or not.

Taking a loan doesn't affect nor immobilize me.

No, no, ...

I just take it as a certain possibility to access something

which otherwise would taken me a lot of time.

Now, I saw how my parents suffered about the property of the house.

When would the moment arrive when they could finally pay the last rate and leave the credit?

Because they always saw their credit with a lot of distress.

And they didn't concentrate on enjoying what they had.

That is, given the fact that I already made such an effort, why not enjoy it,

and be happy with what I am doing?

I think the topic of property is an issue of the previous generation;

it's not my problem.

I don't have issues with property, I feel that property is temporary.

I don't mind having to change my situation overnight,

in fact, I prefer that.

I think that, apart from having my space, I am more mature.

For I used to live defensively.

I acted like a mountain cat, scratching whoever came too near, because …

I had to survive.

But not anymore.

Today I don't survive anymore, I live.

Breaking News - Carrick opens up on depression after Champions League final in 2009 - Duration: 6:16.

Michael Carrick has lifted the lid on the depression that plagued him in the wake of Manchester United's Champions League defeat by Barcelona in 2009, claiming it rendered him 'totally numb' and has never truly left him

The former England midfielder, who now works as part of Jose Mourinho's coaching team, has hidden his turmoil in the decade since United were beaten 2-0 in Rome

The defeat came only a year after Carrick and Co lifted the trophy after overcoming Chelsea in Moscow

But now the midfielder has laid bare his struggles over the past few years - and how that night in Rome affected both his family and footballing life

'I left Rome but I don't think Rome has ever really left me. When I got home, I sat out in the garden and didn't speak to anyone

I couldn't. I was totally numb,' he says in his new autobiography Between The Lines, which is being serialised in The Times

'It was the biggest low of my career by quite some way and I don't really know why,' he told The Times in an interview

'I thought I'd let myself down in the biggest game of my career. I had won the Champions League the year before, but that was totally irrelevant

It felt like I was depressed. I was really down. I imagine that is what depression is

'I describe it as depression because it wasn't a one-off thing. I felt bad or terrible after some games, but then you get over it in the next couple of days, but that one I just couldn't shrug off

It was a strange feeling.' Carrick was left particularly scarred by his role in Barcelona's first goal, scored by Samuel Eto'o, when a misplaced header gifted the ball to Xavi

Following the final he went on holiday to Majorca with his wife Lisa and first child Louise, who was 15 months old at the time

But the midfielder barely spoke to them. 'I beat myself up over that goal,' Carrick says

'I kept asking myself: "Why did I do that?" and then it (the depression) snowballed from there

It was a tough year after that. It lingered for a long time,' he remembers. 'It's not something that's really spoken about in football

I have not spoken about it before. For the lads that I have played with that are reading this, this will be the first time that they know

They wouldn't know. 'They might say he wasn't playing well, or he wasn't himself, but they wouldn't know the extent to which the problem was

I just tried to keep it to myself and get through it.' Not even Sir Alex Ferguson, who bought Carrick and under whom he won a raft of major honours, was aware of his problem

'I've never talked about Rome with the Boss. I can't, it's too painful. Even now, almost a decade on, the gloom from Rome has not completely gone,' he said

'After receiving the medal I didn't want, I trudged back to the changing room. I didn't want to speak to anyone

I slumped in my seat and cradled my head in my hands. 'The Boss was understandably angry and had a go at everyone

"You need to have a look at yourselves and see if you can play at this level," he said

Moscow was irrelevant. We were Manchester United and the expectation was relentless

'"You've let a good chance slip away here," he said. The Boss summed up exactly how I was feeling

After he finished, I just questioned myself again and again. Am I good enough? 'When I woke in the morning, the heartache was still there

It was like I'd been hit by a bus. I'd never been this low before.' The effects of his mental turmoil lingered well after he and his team-mates returned to these shores, however

'When I got home, I sat out in the garden and didn't speak to anyone. I couldn't

I was totally numb. A couple of mates called in the day after the final, but I didn't want to talk about the game, I didn't want to talk about anything really,' Carrick remembered

'I went into the garden with Louise and just sat on the grass as she played around me

I hardly moved. I just wanted to be left alone to play with Louise, probably because she was one of the only people who didn't see the game and was far too young to understand

I watched her crawling around at my feet, but my mind was still a thousand miles away, just thinking, 'Why?' He added: 'I returned pre-season, and just couldn't shake the depression off and 2009-10 was my worst season for United

I'd lost that edge. I had a heavy head and a heavy heart, even my body felt heavier

'Nothing came easy. It felt like I was stuck in a rut, stop-start-stop. I tried but I just couldn't shake myself into life

Confidence is a major part of a sportsman's performance, when it's there you take it for granted and if it disappears, it's desperate

'

UW Certificate in Wetland Science & Management: Scholarship Student Spotlight - Duration: 1:59.

My mother's from Jamaica and she was infatuated with trees but she was raising me in Brooklyn,

and she would tell me about these trees that I would never, ever experience, you know?

And I felt sort of claustrophobic and I never really wanted the typical nine to five and

commuting on the subway.

I found a job in California for a group called Naturalists at Large, and that sort of changed

my life.

One week, I'd be I don't know, doing a giant Sequoia ecology program at Canaveral's Big

Tree State Park and the next, I'd be like interpreting the chaparral for you know, LA

kids in Malibu Creek State Park or doing a rock climbing trip in Joshua Tree.

It was really my first experience on the west coast, and I, my brain sort of alighted to

all these outdoor excursions and experiences.

The students got an experience in what it means to be a scientist and data collection

and thinking about questions and answering questions, but it made me feel like you know,

I want to ask and answer questions instead of just facilitating the asking and the answering

of the questions.

So it got my mind jogging and thinking about all the cool things that are wetlands and

how I just love to make a life out of wetland stuff.

I think the scholarship really urged me to apply and see if I could make a go at it.

My primary objective with this program is making connections and I know it's a professional

certificate so I know the classroom will be filled with professionals and folks doing

all sorts of cool stuff in wetlands.

I think just the exposure to other people doing what I do and the exposure to science

will just be fabulous.
