Hey everyone this is Viren and welcome back to my youtube channel for another
marketing tutorial. in this tutorial like some of you had requested for, I'm going
to be creating a product catalog and we will create Facebook product catalog ads
with it. this is for an ecommerce store. Before we jump into the tutorial a quick
word here if you have any video requests you can write them as comments below and
I will pick it up and make videos for you just like this one
and goes without saying do subscribe to the channel for more such marketing
tutorials every week. now let's jump into the tutorial this is an ecommerce store,
it's run by a friend of mine and they sell two kinds of products mostly.
there's something called Jowar puffs and there's something called Makhana which
are basically Foxnuts. so these are the two kinds of products they sell and this
is an ecommerce store you can buy stuff from here you can just click on any
product, add to cart in just the regular store right so the first thing you need
to do is create a product catalog. now the product catalog looks something like
this where there's going to be a title description for each of the products
there's going to be a link to the product an image link the condition
availability of the product the price the brand name. I've added a custom label
here so these are the fields that I have selected now there are a lot of other
fields available as well I'll add the link to this page on the description
below you can check it out there are these four formats which you can use to
create your product field. CSV, TSV, RSS XML, ATOM XML. anyway so in your XML
there are some required fields which are stuff like ID availability condition
description image link, link, title price and brand or gtin or mpn. I've chosen
brand. now there are a lot of other options as well if you have iOS iPad
Android or Windows Store you can have links to that here as well if you have
other things like age group color gender so if you if you're selling clothes and
you're selling clothes for only females you'll have gender
in there as well, have google product categories and stuff like that. a lot of
other things here the custom label so i'll just picked one of the custom
labels. so i'm adding the link to this in the description you can check it out and
make your catalog accordingly but i've made this simple catalog here for this
tutorial. now once this catalog is done you go to file publish to the web and i
want to publish only the first sheet i will publish it as csv and click on
publish. I have got a link and this is what we'll use on Facebook the next step
here is moving to the Facebook Ads manager here yeah and you need to make
sure that you have Facebook pixel installed on your site if you haven't
I'm not going to be showing it in this tutorial but I am putting up a link
right here somewhere you see the link like now and you can click on it see
this tutorial later but it'll show you how to install Facebook pixel what that
does is lets you keep track of the traffic that goes from your facebook ad
to your website and makes purchases and things like that. in order to create the
product catalog first we will go into assets and catalogs and here click on
create catalog.
which category best describes your business its ecommerce products now
there are two ways you can set this up upload via a form data feed Facebook pixel
and things like that or you can connect it to an existing e-commerce platform
like if you're running Shopify or WooCommerce and things like that you can
simply just connect and that's great as well. but here we're doing this the
upload product info way. who owns this catalog if you have a business account
connected to your Facebook you can select that but I'm just going to use
personal name your catalog click on create catalog created now just click on
View catalog alright so the first thing you do is add products let's click on
that you can add individually and in bulk set a schedule import automatically
from a website if you have a Facebook if you have facebook pixels installed you
can just automatically import products from there we're gonna select set a
schedule for uploading in bulk here basically we can add a CSV file that we
created on Google sheets and we can set a schedule as well so Facebook will keep
going back to the link at a set time interval and if there are any new
products added to the link it'll automatically fetch it to the product
field so let's click on next
firstly you need to add the data feed URL so I will just copy this URL
and paste it here now for some reason if your URL has a username password
attached to it if you've created it on your own server and things like that you
might need to add the username password here but in our case that's not true now
you can set how often you want Facebook to go and fetch this data I'll set it to
weekly every Friday is fine choose a name for your file default
currency that's Indian rupees and click on start upload and the data feed has
been uploaded click on done so once your product feed has been uploaded there
are a bunch of things you can start doing you can create ads with it you can
connect it to your Facebook pixel and things like that but lets just go to
products and see what we've got here and here you can see all the products have
been uploaded and the prices are here availability in stock everything's intact
if you click on any of this you will see the description as well you'll
see the link all of this is here you can edit your product right from here itself
now let's create an ad so we will go back to the ads manager once you're here
click on create and this time you're going to use conversion catalog sales as
our campaign type leave the campaign name as Catalog Sales the catalog I've
selected is the healthy cravings co which is the one we just created click
on continue
you can give your ad set a name you can then select the products you are
looking to advertise all products or do you want to filter them so let's see
what we can do now if you remember when you were creating the product feed there
were two kinds of products there were the puffs in there were the Fox nuts
which is why I added this custom label here so now what I can do is here I can
go under custom label one and I'll see these two options here Fox nuts and
puffs and if I want to create an ad only for Fox nuts I could just select that
and now there are only four products which I can create an ad for you can
filter them down further if you have a bigger product list but sfornow let's
create an ad for Fox nuts create I have to give this a name and create so now we
have our product set Fox nuts ready let's create another product set from
here this time I'm going to select puffs let's give this a name and create it
again
and now we have two products sets Fox nuts and puffs right now I want to create ads
for Foxnuts you can create an offer as well if you want to when I'm just
gonna skip that let's get into audience now there are two kinds of audience you
can choose now one is retargeting where basically you can show ads to people who
visited your website and taken any of these actions so these are things like
who've already viewed or added this product to their cart
but did not purchase it so we talked about Fox nuts in particular another is
added to cart but not purchased the next is upsell so what this basically does is
promote Fox nuts to people who view the product set in the last 14 days which
product said Fox nuts or puffs another is cross sell do you want to promote Fox
nuts to people who's purchased from either Fox nuts or puffs or all products
and then there is custom combinations where you can select what kind of
interaction the audience has with your product set and show them ads
accordingly this is really beautiful and the next way is basically to show
relevant product to prospective customers even if they haven't visited
your website or app so here you get to select the audience just like a regular
Facebook ad it is as simple as that so for this tutorial let's retarget
products to people and what I'm going to do is cross sell I want to show Fox nuts
ads to people who have already purchased puffs I want them to know that there are
other products as well that we are selling right the audience size here is
unavailable don't worry about it it's unavailable here because this particular
site does not have that much traffic right now but ideally you should not be
seeing unavailable right here let's get into placements and edit the
placement I want the ad to show on Facebook feed not the right hand column
not marketplace Instagram feed is fine as well
not the audence Network and not messenger I'm okay with showing my ad on
all mobile devices let's move into the budget and schedule and select the
budget to be about 500 rupees a day run my ads starting now now you need to
select what you want your ad to be optimized for conversion events link
clicks impressions I'm going to select link clicks if you do that you'll be
able to pay per link click next option is conversion events where you will be
able to not pay per click but pay for impressions anyway if you select
conversion events you need to select a conversion window as well what this
means is there are two kinds of conversion window here after clicking
the add or after clicking or viewing the ad
so when you say one-day click it means that the conversion should happen from
one day of clicking the add if it happens on the next day then the
conversion will not be counted as a conversion coming from this Facebook ad
if you select 7 days then it means that the conversion should happen within 7
days of a user clicking on the ad when you select after clicking of viewing the
only difference is that the conversion if the conversion happens in 7 days from
viewing the ad Facebook will still consider that conversion to be coming
from this particular ad group so I'll leave this at 7 day click the event
type is purchased you can choose any other event as well but whatever you
select you need to make sure that this event is already added to your website
via the Facebook pixel the next option here is to add bidding
you can add a lowest cap which basically means that if you're gonna add say
hundred rupees here Facebook will make sure that you are not charged more than
hundred rupees per conversion now if you use target cost and you write hundred
rupees here what this means is that Facebook will try and make sure that
over multiple conversions your average cost of conversion comes down to about
hundred rupees obviously you will be charged by impression here the delivery
type is standard the other way is accelerated which is not available for
this campaign that's about it you can now click on continue and create the ad
you can give your ad a name select the Facebook page and the Instagram account
for this ad and then finally the ad format which is carousel single image or
collection for Product Ads I generally like to go with carousel because
you can see these ads here like this which looks really really good jumping
into the content you can select multiple items from the catalog or just certain
categories our product feed did not have item categories on it so we will not be
able to use this the next is to add some text let me just fill something very
quickly
and there you go now there are two kind of cards that go into the ad there is
the profile card which will appear at the end of every ad once the user
scrolls through this entire list so this is what the profile card will look like
the link which it goes to there's a display URL that can be added as well
and then there's the catalog card you can customize it as well if there are
multiple images added for every product you can change the slideshow but in our
case we've added only a single image so that is what we are going to use you can
customize images as well I'm not gonna do that now let's get straight to headline
the best part here is you can add dynamic text here so for the headline
just click here and select the name and like you can see the name of this
product has gotten added here the newsfeed link description I'm going to add
the price here and I can see the price has been added there's going to be a
single URL at the end of these cards when the user has swiped to the
right-hand side and that will take to the main company's website and there's
also the display link you can add this but this is optional and finally it's
the call to action which right now as you can see a SHOP NOW now a lot of
users can also choose to have no button here because no button means that you
could use the space for your ad text which is great so I'm gonna leave it
like that but what you need to know is that Instagram ad will still use a
learn more button if you check this out Instagram will have this learn more button
right
you can create deep links to your website if you want though I don't
really need that if you have a mobile app you can add those links here as well
but if you remember we did not add it to our product feed as well finally you can
add URL parameters if you want to that's optional as well then conversion
tracking for that you need to have your Facebook pixel activated which I already
do and once you're done just click on confirm there you go the campaign has
been created we can go check out the ad group this is the ad that was
created and you can also preview your ad here this is what the ad looks like on
Instagram or desktop web and on mobile web once the ad starts running you will
see things like the results reach impression cost per result the amount
spent and all of that that you regularly used to calculate how well your campaign
is doing well that's about it for this tutorial I hope I was able to teach you
something new if you have any questions any doubts just leave it as a comment
below and I can more than happy to get back to you
