Raquel ¿Por qué te robaste los dioses? #Devocional Semanal #Genésis 31 :17-32 - Duration: 10:47.

RAQUEL! Why did you steal the gods?

What does the text say? The Bible says what it means (Literal Context)

Genesis chapter 31 verses 17 and 18 (new international version) then

Jacob got ready and rode his children already his wives on the camels, he put in

march to all your cattle along with all the assets that he had accumulated in Padam Aram

and went to the land of Canaan where his father Isaac lived

verse 25: Laban, reached Jacob in the mountains of Gilead where he had

camped, also Laban on the field there, together with their relatives; and he claimed

Jacob - what have you done you cheated me and took my daughters as if they were

prisoners of war? Why have you fled secretly with deceit and without telling me anything?

verses 30 to 32: Now, I understand that you wanted to leave because you miss

your father's house but ... why, I You stole my gods? Jacob replied

The truth is that I got really scared, because I thought you could take away your

daughters by force; but if you find your gods held by one of those who

are here ... "such person will not be left with life ", I put our relatives as

witnesses, look for what is yours and take it away; but Jacob did not know that Rachel

He had stolen the idols of Laban.

And it is that ... in verse 19 of it

Genesis 31 says that while Laban, I was absent, shearing the sheep

Rachel your daughter takes advantage of the moment to steal the idols for God's sake! Rachel ... Rachel? ....

if she the beautiful, the stunning; is more says the word: one of the constructors of the

house of Israel, "Jacob's favorite" ... and I do not know about you ... but when you read that

History is like ... if we had to hit those brakes in the dry ... like that? ...To have....

Jacob had not told him about his encounter with God? Bethel had already passed

And would she suddenly be an inveterate idolater? because to take away some gods

and this is where I got the question of where this Devotional came from

Rachel because you stole the gods? Is it just because you were idolatrous or there was another intention

Addicional there behind?

What does the passage mean? Historical Context - Symbolic. Systematic study

as for obvious reasons, we do not have to Rachel to ask him why he did it?

It is necessary to use the hermeneutics tools or

science the interpretation of Holy writings; and you have to look for the

contexts between them, we already saw a context that is literal, but you have to

look at the story what was the meaning of these gods and why

she decides to steal them.

The gods to whom makes reference are those named in

some versions and some translations we find them as TERAFINES ... "ojo"

it is not seraphim like the angels, but Teraphim, which were small idols

or a kind of tutelary gods, the he had to protect the father of family and

gave authority as the priest of the home; I mean, for them I had a

special representation It is also believed that they were a kind of amulets or

fetishes and some sculptures have been found

with names of healers.

There are Nuzi cuniform tablets some call them

Nuzu, north of Mesopotamia that they date from the second century before

of Christ, and they imply that it was a kind of "legal title" ... ah a title,

bone was not only a god but it was something like a title, it can be

that out there unrolls the pita of the history

we enter now to understand that symbolic context.

interpretation number 1

one definitely Rachel being the daughter of an Aramaic had

pagan customs and besides, she was an envious and

competitive that's why after then some authors say that a

cause of having stolen those gods is that dies when Benjamin is born

Well, it would not be inconsistent but ... there is a problem ..

and we go with hermeneutics: when the bible means something, says it, and what

it says directly, if we ever observe conceal a sinner; If there were that

It was the reason, I would have said it:

And because she sin ... she died ...

but we do not see it in the text, with the

respect for those who interpret in this way; clear that God does not

approved that sin ... but we can not say, what the bible does not say.

Interpretation number 2 remember that said something like

some titles, yes, like certain rights of inheritance and it can be that under their

customs for her was normal and she saw her whole life since she grew up and in her village

He understood that these Teraphim gave them special rights and authority, a

special glory to those who possessed them; and in this case was his father. Some speculate

that could be like the ancestors same facts in figures and that she

I had a fondness for them ... we do not know, but what is clear is that

they assured in that family the continuity of "inheritance and benefits"; so

really what we see here, is that what Rachel does is steal the authority of

her father in favor of her husband, so that beyond the idols and ... can be no

we know ... the writing ... it does not say if it was idolatry with them or not; What we do know is that I was

stealing a "symbol of authority" and we go with the virtual context of this Devotional

Applications for you and me ..... Virtual Context. Guide to reflect

Can you imagine everything you should have felt Raquel? stealing what belongs to another is

disobedience, brings curse and sadness. We should not rob men, but

neither to God and what can we steal from him? the scripture says it, we rob God

when we do not give our tithes and Offerings. Remember that this is not a theme

of the amount of money, but of the commitment to God.

My second application has to do with the fact that, we must review in our lives if

we have stolen it as in the case of Rachel who was stealing an authority

and a glory that belonged to his father and he did it in quotation marks because

she had realized that there was a injustice with her husband, but decides to

autonomously, steal those titles, and here we could be stealing

something to that authority and that glory to God, by not recognizing that our gifts and

talents they are by the grace of God; what we have

achievements, success, boasting about what quote "we know" or attribute to the

Famous fate ... Oh, I'm so good! but in reality they are goodness of God and in

that moment we are stealing the glory God, because it's because of him, that we have everything

and the third application has to do with this, although the form could be unfair

in which Jacob had been treated by his job; but Rachel did not have to

Take justice on your own. We have seen many cases of communities

who decide to lynch the thieves and take justice, do

settling of scores; that is something that it's okay. If we must denounce what is not

It's right, it's unfair, but we're not authorized to take in our hand

Justice. Let's close praying ...

Sir, we ask you, as your

word that your Holy Spirit probes each of our thoughts, probe

our heart, the intentions more deep and make us aware of the

sins we committed ... stealing something ... whether it's some object, stealing from you or

to other people; we apologize for Lord, and if something comes to our

we resort to the power of your forgiveness and your grace Lord, forgive us Lord

also on some occasions we have been victims of the robbery and we have harbored

feelings against those of us stripped of something, we apologize

because we know that forgiveness liberates ... you you will do justice at the time with those

people, but it's not up to us we take justice by the hand

If we have to denounce, we will do it before the authorities that correspond, because

we will not cover the sin but not we will take that justice for our

Lord hands. Forgive us as a nation because our nation steals, it takes what

that is yours, the money that is of the poor, children,

It is stolen frequently in our nation. Forgive us oh Lord

because your word says: that if I will humiliate my the town where your name

is invoked and those are us, then, you will open the windows of the

heavens and you will pour that overflowing blessing .. but before that is the

Forgiveness and reconciliation. Thanks, Dad, Thank you Son and thank you Holy Spirit

Amen. See you in our next Devotional

Analysis: Eating These Foods Could Extend Your Life

MAY 3, 2018 by Julie Fidler

If you don't get plenty of whole grains in your diet, you should. Whole grains are

packed full of nutrients and complex carbohydrates that decrease insulin levels while providing

sustained energy. They're also loaded with fiber, which improves bowel health, helps

regulate cholesterol levels, helps you lose weight, and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Considering the health benefits associated with whole grains, it's unsurprising that

new research shows that eating them could help you live longer. Specifically, researchers

found that people who ate 3 or more servings of whole grains daily (about 70 grams) had

a 20% reduced risk of premature death during the study period, compared to those who ate

fewer or no servings of whole grains.

People who ate the most whole grains (vs. those who ate the least) were found to be

16% less likely to die of any cause during the study, nearly 20% less likely to die from

cardiovascular-related disease, and over 10% less likely to die of cancer. [1]

For each additional serving of whole grains, the risk of cardiovascular disease-related

death dropped by 9%, and cancer-related death risk dropped by 5%.

A few examples of 16 grams of whole grains include one slice of 100% whole grain bread,

or a half-cup of cooked oatmeal, cooked brown rice, or cooked 100% whole grain pasta. [2]

Analyzing 14 Studies and 786,076 Individuals The findings come from scientists at the Harvard

T. H. Chan School of Public Health, who analyzed 14 published studies of long-term health information

from 786,076 participants. plus additional pertinent data from the National Health and

Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES).

Of the 786,076 subjects, 97,867 died during the studies. Nearly 24,000 died of cardiovascular

disease and over 37,000 died of cancer.

Qi Sun, assistant professor in the school's Department of Nutrition and senior author

of the study, said:

"Whole grains should be considered part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. They should

not be considered a magic food, or a magic bullet, for increasing longevity." [3]

This is the first large analysis of whole grain consumption and premature death.

Whole-grain nutrients are released in the digestive tract more slowly than those in

refined grains, such as white flour, white rice, and regular white pasta. Also, people

tend to chew whole grains longer, which stimulates more satiety hormones.

How to Get Over a Crush - Duration: 4:33.

Hey girls! Tiffany Dawn here, and today I'm in this adorable B&B where my

husband and I are staying out on Seneca Lake in upstate New York. And he's

actually running a 77-mile race right now with my mother! I mean they're not

running 77 miles each, but they have a team of seven people and each person is running

11 miles. It's a relay race around the whole lake. I did not go because it meant

being there at 6:30 in the morning and I'm pregnant, so that's not happening. So

yeah. But today I wanted to talk to you about a question that has been written

in several times and it is: How do I get over a crush, when I've been like liking

him for a while, and the feelings are not going away? And I have definitely

experienced that. There was one guy that I liked for - I don't know - on and off for

like 10 years! And that was a very long crush. And we were just friends and

sometimes we would go to like almost more than that, and then would go back,

and it was confusing, blah blah, but um, it was kind of hard to get over that. And

so I'm just gonna share a few thoughts with you. So my first tip for getting

over a crush is this: You have to think about something else. So what I've found

is that the more you focus on not wanting to be with that guy,

or on wanting to get over your crush, the more you're just focusing on that

guy still. So it's like, "Oh he'd be a terrible fit for me," like call my friends

in, let's like Facebook stalk him and look at like his new girlfriend and say how

she's just not that great for him and he was just not a great guy and focus on

being over him. And all that time, the common denominator, the thing that you're

still thinking about, is that guy. And so it kind of backfires. And it makes it

harder to get over him if you're just thinking about getting over him, and why

you should be over him all the time. So find something totally different that

has nothing to do with him and think about that. And that could be, some hobby

you get involved with, like serving somewhere, it could be I don't know just

something you're passionate about, but just find something else, a different

place for your thoughts to go. And that reminds me of number two, which is, when

you're always kind of fantasizing about, "Could this work, could this not?" Like trying

to read into every little thing he says or does - that's also gonna keep you stuck

in the crush. And so if you can kind of like just try to pull yourself out of

that a little bit. I remember over and over

throughout my life I would try to figure things out and I felt like God would

keep saying to me like, "Tiff, just let me surprise you. Like stop trying to figure

it out and just let me surprise you." And I think that that attitude is really

helpful if you're trying to get over a crush. Just kind of not trying to read

into everything not going over everything he said and did with your

best friends, like, "What did this mean when he said this?" - which is fun, but if

you want to get over him, that's not gonna help. Tip number three is just kind

of, give yourself some time. I think it's good to just kind of like be aware of it,

like the crush is there, but not like worry too much about it. Because again,

putting more pressure on yourself to like get over him and move on already, just kind

of keeps you stuck in the crush. And so if you can kind of just like be aware

like, "Oh, ha, still have a crush on this guy. That's funny. Cool. Moving on with my day."

I think that's a better way to approach it. Rather than, "I gotta get over this guy,

I gotta get over this guy." Because that just kind of keeps you like more and more

deeply entrenched in thinking about him, but if you can just kind of like let it

go, "Oh cool okay I'm still have a crush. It's not a big deal; it's fine." I think that's

a better way to approach it and like puts less pressure on yourself too. And I

do think that sometimes there are crushes that are like lingering in a

sense, or like people that we keep thinking, "Oh I wonder if I like let him

get away? I wonder what would have happened if we dated?" And I think in my

life and in some of my friends' lives, those thoughts can come and go for years

until we meet somebody that we're like, "Oh this is who I really want to be

with!" And then it kind of all makes sense. And I'm like - I know with the guy I had a

crush on for like ten years, it would like come and go for years, and I'd

like think I was over him, and then it'd come back again. And it wasn't until I

met James that I was like, "Oh my gosh, this is who God has for me! And this is

like the perfect fit for me!" I don't know, that kind of like finished the crush off.

I was just like, "Oh! Why would I want to be with another guy? Like James is

amazing!" And so I think that's happened to me and some of my friends, where it's like,

it comes and goes, lingering, until you meet somebody who's just awesome and

amazing and perfect for you. Those are my three top tips for getting over a crush.

I would love to hear what else has worked for you girls!

And I love you girls and I will see you again very soon. Bye!

Four Mind-blowing Hacks to Get More Listings | #TomFerryShow - Duration: 10:20.

- Hey, today, I've got four no-brainer hacks

to generate new listings.

(rock music)

Hey, it's Tom Ferry.

If you had to get a listing in the next week,

what actions would you take?

That's what I wanna cover today on the show.

I reached out to a couple of my top coaches,

Jason Pantana, who runs our Marketing Edge event,

and I asked a bunch of these guys and gals,

"What are your best hacks?

What are the little things that you're doing right now

that you almost don't want anyone else to know?"

I'm gonna give you that today, you ready?

Get your pen out, get ready to write.

Listen to this one three or four times.

It's gonna be good.

The first thing they said for the absolute no-brainer,

as in no brain required, you with me on this?

No brain required is, you leverage one of your buyers

who absolutely is committed to buy, wants to buy,

qualified, ready to go, approved, all cash,

and they've written an offer or two

and it didn't get accepted.

That kind of buyer.

What you're gonna do is you're gonna identify,

step one, the neighborhood they most wanna buy in.

The 60, 70, 80, 200-home subdivision, building,

whatever it may be, that they want to live in.

Number two, you're going to hand-address

and hand-stamp every one of the pieces.

Here's the catch.

No company logo, no company logo, no company logo.

Hand-addressed, hand-stamped.

If you wanna kill it, put a birthday cake stamp,

put a wedding cake stamp on it.

Have it on a small envelope, have it be

cream colored, and guess what?

That baby's gonna get opened, and that's 90% of the game.

Just getting your message to the right target audience.

So we select the list.

These are the homes I wanna mail it to.

We're gonna deliver it in

a hand-addressed, hand-stamped letter.

Inside, when they open it up thinking,

"Oh my goodness, what wedding am I being invited to,

or who's having a birthday,"

they get a letter that says, "Dear neighbor,

I'm representing a client who's

interested in buying your home."

The more specifics you give them,

a four-bedroom, three-bath,

the more specific, the better.

Just be mindful if you're sending to

a subdivision of multiple types of properties.

You know the game.

You write in, "They're all cash," or,

"They're approved by bank X, and they recently

lost out on a home that they really wanted to buy.

We've identified your property as the ideal home for them."

Here's the hook, you ready?

"Would you consider a one-day listing?"

"Whoa, (mumbles)."

"Would you consider a one-day listing?"

Can I remind you that we live in

the on-demand environment?

You go to Netflix, you wanna watch it right now.

You go to Amazon, you want it right now.

There is a percentage of customers out there that

don't want the sign in the yard,

but they've had thoughts of selling.

This is a way to hook that person in

and to get in the door and have a conversation.

So again, "I'm representing a client.

They're a buyer, pre-qualified,

ready to go by bank X or Y.

They're all cash."

Give them some details.

"They desperately want to live in your neighborhood."

Name the neighborhood.

Specifics.

"They wanna live in Irvine Terrace

on the Ocean View side."

Be specific about it.

"Here's my question.

Would you consider a one-day listing

just for my buyer to see it?

Would you consider a one-day listing

just for my buyer to see it?"

And then guess what, my friends?

You sit back and you let the phone ring.

I gotta give a little shoutout.

Jeff Mays, one of our coaches who

sent this over, said, "Hey Tom, my client

Janine Bear, Coldwell Banker in Idaho,"

big shoutout to you, "sent out 60 letters,

only got five phone calls."

Sent out 60 letters, only got five phone calls, hello.

"Got a listing and sold it."

Hello.

"Made an $8,000 commission on a $100 marketing spend."

I don't know about you, but if I said,

"Hey, give me $100 and I'll give you eight grand,"

you'd be like, "Here's $100," and I give you eight grand.

You'd be like, "Here's another $100."

I give you another eight grand.

You're like, "Here's $200."

I give you 16 grand.

That's called 100% no brain required.

You with me on this?

That's listening attraction hack number one.

Number two.

Get ready.

On Instagram, on Instagram, you're gonna do ...

Oh, I did it on my poll already as a test.

You're gonna have to go back and maybe find it.

You're gonna go onto your Instagram stories,

stories being the key because we're gonna use

the live polling on Instagram stories,

and you're gonna ask this question.

"Are you living in your dream home now?"

Use the polling tab where it says yes or no

and let them hit yes or no.

"Are you living in your dream home now, yes or no?"

People love polls.

You see the action on those all the time

on your Instagram story.

They're like, "Yes," or, "No."

Hmm, interesting.

Then they go to the next one and it says,

"Have you had any thoughts of selling

in 2018 or 2019, yes or no?"

For some of us that are paying attention to

Instagram and the amount of eyeballs that are there

and how important stories are today on Facebook,

or, excuse me, on Instagram,

you know this is 100% no brain required,

and probably something you'll run

maybe every quarter, maybe every four months

because it's that good and that simple.

That's the second hack.

Number three.

If you really wanna get some listings with

no brain required, write down the following.

You ready?

Jason Pantana, who runs our Marketing Edge event,

by the way, selling out every single day,

shoutout to Jason and all of our clients that are

really wanna stand out by attending that

Marketing Edge event, he said,

"One of the things our clients are doing right now,

they take a business card and a little yellow

sticky note, and on every one of the sticky notes,

they write down the following."

Pay attention, you ready?

"Call me about your house."

So Mark, literally, their card, yellow sticky note,

"Call me about the house," and you put it

right near the door, maybe right near the doorknob,

and you stick it there.

"Call me about your house."

That's all it says.

"Call me about your house," and your card.

You do this to 100 homes.

When they call you, what do you do?

"Hey, thanks so much for calling.

I'm actually representing a buyer right now who

desperately wants to live in your neighborhood.

I just had to reach out,

being aggressive for my customer to find out,

have you had any thoughts of selling?

Have you had any thoughts of selling?"

It is a no-brainer.

I could spend an hour going through the psychology of

why that's effective, the marketing angle behind it,

the hook behind it, the, "What do they mean,

call me about your house?

What, call me about your house?

Okay, sure.

Is something wrong?"

You may get a few of those phone calls.

When they respond and they're like,

"Hey, you said call me about the house,"

you're like, "Hey, thank you so much.

I'm representing this buyer."

Some will be excited, some won't care.

Some, this is just the trigger they needed

because they've been thinking about

selling their home, and guess what?

You just got an opportunity

direct from the Tom Ferry Show.

That's number three.

I got one more a little more advanced,

so consider the following.

Do you know the company Sly Broadcast?

S-L-Y Broadcast?

What this company does is it allows you to

record a voicemail and send it to people

directly into their voicemail.

This is not the phone rings and they hear,

"Hello, I'm a real estate agent."

No, instead, it goes right to their voicemail.

So you could literally send out,

I wanna give you these numbers,

you could send out, for $100 a month,

2,000 voicemail messages.

We have lots of clients doing this.

You heard one of our clients talk about this

last year at the summit, we've talked about it

at Tom X, where she did this for the first time.

"I'm representing an all-cash buyer who would

like to buy a home in your neighborhood.

We just missed out on another opportunity

down the street from you.

Would you call me today at," and she gives her number.

She took that voicemail and I think she

sent it out to 2,000 people at once.

And then after 172 phone calls back

in the first 24 hours, she said, "Whoa.

Maybe I ought to do it in smaller increments."

So my advice for you is, if you're gonna

check this one out, make sure you start small

and get ready for the phone to ring.

You leave a cool voicemail.

"Hey, it's Tom Ferry with Banana Real Estate.

I'm representing a buyer right now, and I gotta tell you,

they are a wonderful couple.

They're desperate to live in banana community,

and we've already actually written an offer.

They got beat out by an investor.

They're a nice family.

They wanna live in your neighborhood.

I'm just asking, if you've had any thoughts of selling,

could you please give me a call?"

Notice how I did that voicemail.

It wasn't perfect.

You with me?

It was authentic.

It's like, "Hey, I'm just reaching out.

I'm representing this client and they

desperately wanna live in your area.

They recently lost out on another home

right near you, and I know this is

strange on voicemail, but gosh,

if you've had any thoughts of selling,

could you call me at 555-1212,

even it was just for a one-day listing

because you were thinking about it?

If the stars and the moons aligned

and the price was perfect that you would move,

just call me, 555-1212."

I would actually do that voicemail.

I loved how authentic and real that was.

And then they send it out (whoosh noise)

200 homes, 200 homes, 1,000 homes,

cell phones, whatever you got.

It doesn't make a difference.

But here's the thing, you ready?

How much brains does it require to leave a voicemail

and have it sent to all those homes?

100% no brain required.

I gave you the script.

It'll be on the blog on tomferry.com,

so if you're watching on YouTube, go back to tomferry.com

and that entire script will be in the blog,

looking at my extraordinary writer, Mark.

So that's what I got.

That's what I wanted to share with you.

My hope is always the same, that you take massive action,

that you absolutely implement at least one thing

from this show to generate more listings,

to solve the crisis in your market,

and ultimately help another buyer buy their dream home.

Thanks so much for watching.

Remember always, your strategy matters,

and now more than ever, your passion absolutely rules.

Take care.

What did we use before USB? | Nostalgia Nerd - Duration: 12:01.

We practically connect everything by USB these days.

Keyboards, mice, speakers, phones, even mini consoles are powered by USB.

But what did we do before this miraculous connection became common place?

Well, that's what I'm here to explain.

USB, otherwise known as Universal Serial Bus was designed by a consortium of manufacturers

way back in January 1996, with the intention to standardise the connection of computer

peripherals, which at that point used a number of different methods dating all the way back

to the original IBM Personal Computer.

Well, I say dating back to, but almost all of these standards were already established,

such as the parallel port by Centronics in the 1970s and the RS-232 port in 1960 by the

Electronic Industries Association, but we'll get to those in a bit

some of these standards, such as IEE1284 developed by Centronics for parallel communication,

were introduced before the IBM PC, but its IBM's adoption which solidified their use.

Released in August 1981, the IBM Personal Computer was assembled from many off the shelf

OEM parts, incorporating a custom BIOS, but with the remainder made up from mostly external

manufacturers.

To connect the keyboard, a 5 pin DIN socket was chosen, a connection somewhat standardised

in computing during the early 1970s by the Deutsches Institut fur Normung.

This connection was rugged, provided ample shielding and was typically the only connector

to be soldered directly to the motherboard, although early machines also included a cassette

port, again a din socket, as a low cost method of loading software, common on home computers

of the time.

This meant peripherals such as a mouse, printer, modem or even the monitor needed to be connected

through expansion cards.

These expansion cards plugged into 8 bit expansion slots on the motherboard, which would go on

to be called the Industry Standard Architecture, or ISA slots.

This name was adopted because the IBM PC spawned many a'clones, after all, once the BIOS was

reverse engineered, or copied through observation, the other components could be bought from

external parties, and soon the IBM PC Compatible market was born, and awash with machines.

The IBM PC model would evolve into the more powerful AT machine, with the clones of course

following suit, but across all these machines, you would typically find a video card, for

plugging your monitor into, a serial card, offering one or two serial or communications

or RS-232 ports, and a parallel card, although this was often combined with the serial card.

Original IBM machines had slightly different connections, but this is the typical setup

the IBM PC would evolve into.

So, we've got the basics connected, but what about everything else?

Well, let's start with the mouse.

You could connect that to a serial port.

Your computer identifies these as COM ports, and usually your mouse would have a 9 pin

serial connection.

Plug it in, install a mouse driver into your operating system of choice, and you have a

magical on screen cursor.

If you didn't have a 9 pin serial port, you could always use a an adaptor, and plug your

mouse into a 25 pin serial port.

This was the original serial port design, with the 9 pin introduced by the IBM-AT model

and offering a reduced size, more cost efficient connection using a subset of the full serial

port standard.

For most devices this connection was more than sufficient, although it's design means

it can easily be confused with a DB9 joystick connection, as seen on the Sega Mega Drive

for example.

If you wanted to connect a device such as a modem, then you're likely to require a full

25 pin port, featuring the full serial port specification.

Many, and indeed, most, devices could be connected via serial port, but the main issue here was

speed.

The clue is in the title, as data is sent in a single stream, rather than concurrently

with the maximum speed usually 115,200 bits per second.

It can go higher depending on hardware, but was generally unsupported by most software

in any case.

So what about the parallel port, or Centrionics parallel port more specifically?

Well, although the original ports could only muster 150kbits/s, later enhanced & extended

parallel ports could handle up to a whopping 2.5MB per second.

Unlike most serial port applications, data is sent concurrently across several of the

25 pins, making it an ideal choice for printers and even devices demanding high speed such

as ZIP drives and other storage device, which take advantage of the bi-directional modes

on later enhanced ports.

But this parallel communication had it's own problems.

The main being that the 8 data lines needed to be synchronised with each other.

So shoving 8 bits faster and faster down these pins could cause some synchronisation issues,

limiting transmission rates.

USB for example, uses serial communication, but with technology allowing far greater speed

transfer than our faithful serial connections could go.

Of course, this technology also allows us to have many usb ports and even additional

hubs, but going back to our serial and parallel ports, your typical computer might only have

one of each.

The problem is of course, what if you wanted to connect something else?

All your ports are gone.

Well, during 1987, IBM stepped in again and launched the PS/2 connection.

This did away with the bulky keyboard DIN port whilst at the same time, giving your

mouse, it's own dedicated connection.

However, this implementation wasn't wide-spread.

In fact, it was designed to be the opposite.

IBM were fed up with competitors stealing a market they essentially created, and so

in April 1987 launched the IBM Personal System/2.

This range was designed to replace their previous models, and as part of the parcel had proprietary

architecture, part of which were the PS/2 ports.

They keyboard interface was electronically identical to the AT interface, with with a

smaller 6 pin mini-DIN.

The BIOS also added routines for the dedicated mouse port.

The range wasn't massively successful, but the dedicated ports did catch on and would

begin appearing on rival machines throughout the 90s.

They were particularly useful for laptops (for example), which couldn't always accommodate

larger ports.

Just to throw an extra layer of complication in.

Microsoft also had their own mouse port design, known as the "Microsoft InPort".

This port was typically provided by an 8 bit ISA card and provided a mini-DIN port, similar

to those found on PS/2 machines, but with a 9 pin design.

But again, this was another plug in card, when expansion space may have been at a premium.

Thankfully change was coming.

Although it was common at the time to have separate plug in cards to manage these ports,

including some obscure ones such as this all in one Tandy adapter, from this point on it

started to become common to see COM and Parallel ports have their own header on the motherboard,

like this rather grubby example.

Reducing the need for expansion cards and beginning the transformation of packing most

connections directly onto the motherboard, as is common today.

OK, so we've got our printer hooked up, a modem for some sweet sweet Bulletin board,

or even early internet access and a mouse for gliding through Windows '95.

What about sound?

Well, that hasn't changed much at all.

Sound cards of the time typically had numerous 3.5m jack outputs and inputs, but as they

were scene as a gaming or multimedia accessory, they usually also had this.

This is a 15 pin game port.

It was originally introduced on the game control adaptor - a separate board for the IBM PC,

by the mid 80s, it was often added to serial or parallel expansion cards, but by 1989 found

its way onto the first Sound Blaster card, allowing the attachment of joysticks, but

also by making use of the redundant pins 12 and 15, allowed for a MIDI adaptor to be connected

as well.

The Sound Blaster quickly went on to be the most popular sound card, with many clones

following suit.

So with that, our PC is wired up and ready for action.

But this isn't the end of this story, there were a multitude of other ports that could

be brought into the mix, allowing for additional applications.

You could buy a SCSI controller to connect CD-ROM drives, scanners or even hard drives.

You could even buy a multitude of products requiring their own bespoke expansion cards,

meaning not only might you run out of slots, but also system resources.

It's with all this complexity which led to Compaq, DEC, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, NEC and

Nortel to get together in 1994 and have a good hard think.

Bespoke and incompatible connections wasn't in anyone's favour, and so in a great example

of companies working together to solve a problem representatives from each company were dispatched

with the goal of making it easier to connect external devices to PCs, whilst addressing

the restrictions and usability issues of the current methods.

One of the team members working on this was Ajay Bhatt, working at Intel, who then produced

the first USB integrated circuits in 1995.

This original specification had a standard data rate of 1.5MBit/s, up to 12Mbit/s, and

was supported by Microsoft Windows '95 Service pack 2, but it took a few years before USB

started to become standardised.

In September 1998, USB 1.1 was released, which had less timing and power limitations and

was adopted much quicker, with Microsoft describing this the "Legacy Free PC".

All iMac G3's also support USB 1.1.

Of course, given the still somewhat limited speed, USB 1.1 wasn't ideal for external storage

devices, even with file sizes which were typically much smaller compared to today's juggernauts.

For Apple users, this didn't really matter, they had Firewire, but for everyone else,

USB 2.0, launched in April 2000 was the point we caught up, offering a high speed mode of

480Mbit/s.

By now the ball was firmly rolling and PCs which may have had a nominal single USB port,

started having multiple ports front and back.

Legacy connections still hung around, but from about 2010 onwards, they've largely disappeared.

Since 2007, the USB Battery Charging release was implemented and with USB 3.0 appearing

in 2008, offering up to 5Gbits/s, pretty much all base were covered.

Which lands in the USB saturated world we currently know, and, appreciate.

For the most part.

USB has definitely made things a lot easier, and convenient, but I still yearn for the

mess of wires and connections from the 90s.

Finding male to female adaptors, sorting null modem serial cables from the standard ones,

networking up PCs with homemade cables to play Doom.

It was splendid, thankfully I can still get my kicks playing with old hardware.

The rest of us probably couldn't give a monkeys.

Isn't that what the vice chairman wants?

What he wants is what I want.

Do whatever he says.

I'll send away the guards.

However, I will remain at the house.

Right here and now.

I think you should go.

Let's go, Seyeon.

If you step a foot outside of the vacation house...

Call HR tomorrow.

Send Seyeon to China.

She'll pack her things willingly if you tell her to go.

I will.

Should I tell you...

Why Lady Geum swapped you

and Chairman Eun's real granddaughter, Seyeon?

Want to know?

Don't tell me.

Aren't you curious?

I don't want to hear it from you.

Do you want to hear it from Lady Geum yourself?

She doesn't know that you know

everything yet.

Make sure she never does.

Fine.

I'm sure you want to keep living as Eun Gyeonghye.

That's what I want as well.

That way, I can get...

Winners from you.

Once you give me the company,

I'll give you a nice cut.

More than a housekeeper's daughter

could even dream of.

I'll go to the vacation house...

After I see grandpa.

You're home.

Why is it so dark in here?

Let me see your face.

You should rest.

I'll see you tomorrow.

You don't sound well.

Is something wrong?

No.

Nothing's wrong.

Grandpa.

Yes?

Grandpa...

Yes? Go on.

You are...

Everything to me.

And you are...

Everything to me.

Please rely on only me...

Love me...

And forgive me.

Of course,

I will.

You are my granddaughter.

Just once...

Please say that one more time.

Say that I am...

Your granddaughter.

You are...

My granddaughter...

And my everything.

I'm being sent to the factory in China?

You're on standby starting today.

Once the dates are finalized,

HR will contact you.

That's crazy.

Who decided such a thing?

The order came directly from the chairman's office.

The chairman's office?

It was decided by Manager Eun Gyeonghye,

who is currently filling in for the chairman.

Hello?

Hello? Gyeonghye.

It was my decision...

To send you to China.

I told you it was over between us.

Leave before I lie to you...

Betray you and hurt you.

Leave, Seyeon.

Ms. Gyeonghye,

what should I prepare for lunch?

Rice topped with steak tartare.

That's the chairman's favorite.

You never ate raw food.

Is he coming down?

No.

I'm going to eat it.

Okay.

Gyeonghye.

You're a fake.

You're not Chairman Eun's real blood.

You're just a nobody

who can be stepped on

and spat on endlessly.

No.

I'm Eun Gyeonghye.

I must be Eun Gyeonghye.

Seyeon.

Mom.

Do you feel sick?

No.

Gyeonghye...

Must be very angry.

What is it?

I was transferred to China.

It wasn't Ms. Gyeonghye.

I'm sure it was Myeonghwan's doing.

No.

It was Gyeonghye's decision.

I spoke to her.

Honey.

I was hoping to get hired full-time...

But they fired me out of the blue.

What do you mean?

HR called me in as soon as

I got to work...

They gave me an envelope while saying I was fired.

I thought I could finally play my role

as the head of the family.

How could they kick me out so suddenly like this?

I'm so embarrassed to face the kids.

Firing dad too...

Is just too much.

My resignation was finalized.

Give me the password.

I hear Seyeon is going to China.

That will not happen.

I won't send her.

Yeah.

If you watch that...

You'll understand

even if I don't explain everything to you.

You'll understand why Chairman Eun's real blood

must be sent away as far away as possible.

Gyeonghye really killed a person.

Without Chairman Eun's protection,

your daughter, Gyeonghye...

Will go straight to jail.

Watch the video a million times if you want.

You won't find out that the victim is still alive.

Even if you do...

Gyeonghye is

in the palm of my hand now.

She's coming in for a session tomorrow.

She looks weak but

she's stubborn.

No matter how much I try,

she's convinced that she didn't imagine

the license plate number.

I'll have to

give her drugs now.

I'll erase Kkotnim's memories

for sure...

So don't worry.

Make sure you take care of it.

If they figure out I'm the one who abandoned her...

We'll be in hot water.

Sure. Okay.

(Seoul Police Station)

(Case has been closed)

I'm sure this is the number.

Hi, Kkotnim.

Hello.

This is from me.

(Looking for witness to a hit-and-run)

Did you print new flyers?

I put in pictures of the clothes you wore

when it happened.

I opted for waterproof paper too.

You don't get money for the flyers

because the case was closed.

I'll supply the flyers

until we find the perp

and find your family for you.

Thank you, Cheolsu.

Even if it rains, the paper...

Where? Let me see. I want to see it too.

It's much nicer than the old ones.

Hey. Put them up

while it's still bright outside.

We need to put up as many as possible so that

more people can see it and call in.

Okay.

Let's go, Kkotnim.

Don't worry about things here.

- I'll be right back. / - Go on.

Okay.

How could they do that?

Do all rich people do that?

Do they have no regard for people's livelihoods?

You were in a good mood when you left for the delivery.

Why are you suddenly cursing rich people?

I went to the office

and my talented sister

was suddenly transferred to China

while my hardworking dad was fired.

I can't work in this foul mood.

Oh, my gosh. Hold on.

We're both mature adults.

You can't let personal feelings interfere with work.

It's not like I did it.

Auntie.

- Hello. / - Hello.

Did you come to see me?

It's Parents' Day soon.

I prepared gifts for mommy and grandma

but I don't have anything yet for grandpa.

Grandpa is like a dad to me.

Ung, you're such a good grandson.

Should I pick out a gift for your grandpa?

Yes, please.

Ung,

you must be too young to understand

but personal feelings don't belong in the workplace.

There's no need to come

to my job to buy gifts.

It's not like I'd work here forever.

Thank you for everything.

Deposit my paycheck into my account.

Let's go, Ung.

Wait! Wait!

You can't leave me like this.

You're my shop's mascot.

Fine.

I'll go to Gitae, find out what happened

and get them their jobs back.

I can do that much.

Do you mean it?

You'll get my dad his job back?

I never go back on my word.

- Sure I can trust you? / - Of course.

"Nak jang bul ga."

It's "Nak jang bul ip."

Nak for drop. Jang for give.

Bul for no. Ip for raise.

Once a deal is made, you cannot take back.

Seonhui has

one smart little boy.

Anyway, I'll take care of it.

Okay.

Ung, I recommend

this for grandpa.

Why are you still here? Go. Go.

Okay, I'll go.

- I'll be back. / - What do you think?

Isn't it nice?

Let's give this to grandpa then.

Gitae!

Gitae!

Where's Gitae?

He's inside.

Gitae!

Gitae!

What's going on?

You should've called if you were sick.

How could you hide it from me too?

I'm hurt.

Stop freaking out.

Gitae,

just how seriously ill are you?

It's nothing new.

Nothing will happen anytime soon...

So calm down.

How did you find out?

I went to your office to see you and

Myeonghwan told me.

I told you not to come to my office.

It all makes sense now.

Because you're lying here,

things are a mess at the company.

You're such a caring chairman.

You'd never fire workers

so cruelly like that.

What do you mean?

Gitae,

Seyeon is about to be shipped off to China,

and her father was fired out of the blue.

What?

(Medical Examination Report)

(Medical Examination Report)

I see Seyeon gets her grit from

her grandfather.

His body is a complete mess...

But that old man ruled over people

with just his cane.

Yes?

The chairman called in

saying he can't reach

Manager Eun Gyeonghye.

I called Gyeonghye.

Why did you come instead?

She can't come.

She's hiding somewhere safe.

Somewhere safe?

I couldn't tell you in case the news

would shock you.

Gyeonghye was attacked yesterday.

What?

Gyeonghye

was attacked?

She hurt her face.

Don't worry about the company.

I'm running it just fine.

What do you mean

by saying you're running the company?

Gyeonghye became traumatized after being attacked...

So she signed over all of her rights to me.

She was never

strong enough to run the company to begin with.

I'll transfer you

to a hospital 2 hours from now.

This isn't just aging.

You have a serious chronic illness.

Don't be stubborn

and focus on your treatment.

All of the executives are worried.

Your liver is in bad shape.

What?

The executives

know about my illness?

How long were you planning to hide it?

You will

never be able to return to the company.

I...

I should've removed you...

From my house long ago.

Mr. Chairman...

It's too late.

Gyeonghye...

Gyeonghye won't let you get away with it.

Yes, she will.

You should be thankful

if Gyeonghye isn't considering suicide right now.

Ms. Gyeonghye,

what should I prepare for dinner?

You had two bowls of steak tartare at lunch.

Do you want that again?

Where is grandpa's hunting dog that was

mauled by a wild hog while...

Out on a hunt?

The new dog killed it.

It was supposed to be a good breed

but it had a terrible temper.

You're wearing a hunting vest.

Yes. There are wild hogs

going rampant around here lately,

so hunters are working together to handle it.

I'm using my shooting skills

that I learned from following the chairman

around on hunts to do a good deed.

You must've brought back the gun...

That was deposited with the precinct.

Yes, Ms. Gyeonghye.

Bring it.

Ms. Gyeonghye...

Is this the dog...

That killed grandpa's hunting dog?

Yes, it is.

Remove this dog...

From my house.

Since Myeonghwan...

Showed his true colors now,

he will never...

Leave Gyeonghye alone.

He'll do whatever it takes...

To take everything she has.

You are...

The only person who can...

Protect Gyeonghye now.

Please...

Become Gyeonghye's kingmaker.

Protect her with your life so that she does not...

Lose the chairman's seat

to Myeonghwan.

Make sure my blood,

Gyeonghye...

Is the owner of our company.

Yes, sir.

Did I just...

Kill someone?

Did Gyeonghye really...

Kill someone in an accident?

Did you kill someone?

Did you?

I did no such thing.

I did not.

She said she didn't.

That's what she said.

Kkotnim,

why do you look so down?

I'm upset.

I'm no longer confident...

That the license plate number that I remember...

Belonged to the person who hit me.

Just as Dr. Kim Hyojeong said...

I may have imagined it.

Still,

thank you very much for

printing these new flyers.

If you're thankful...

Will you grant me a wish?

A wish?

If I can hang upside down on those

parallel bars for 10 minutes...

Grant me a wish.

Okay.

Okay!

You're very pretty.

You look pretty when you smile.

You look pretty when you eat.

Even when I look at you upside down like this,

you still look pretty.

You must be the only woman

who still looks pretty upside down like this.

Upside down?

Cheolsu.

What number do you see?

6860.

6860!

The license plate number.

I saw it when I was on the ground

after I was hit,

so I saw it upside down.

Upside down.

Upside down. Hold on.

Sinhyeok, it's me.

Jaejun.

Are you going somewhere?

To the chairman's house.

My dad was fired.

I need to talk to Gyeonghye.

Don't go to that house.

You can't.

Here.

Gyeonghye is in the vacation house,

and the chairman is in the hospital.

Since the Eun family is gone now,

the air seems so much cleaner in here.

We fired all the workers,

so we'll need to hire new ones.

Should I call in Gyeonghye and make her work?

She can cook and clean.

You won't really do that, right?

Once I get the power of attorney from her tomorrow...

I'll lock her up in a mental institution

or send her to Hawaii

as originally planned.

Now, it's finally our time.

Thanks for your hard work getting here.

"Patience is bitter but the fruit is sweet."

Who could that be?

Excuse me.

I'm from the special hit-and-run team

at Seoul Police Station.

You're Jang Myeonghwan, right?

Can we really take time off like this?

She says she wants to be alone.

Let's go.

Why are you telling me

not to go to the chairman's house?

Gyeonghye is okay, isn't she?

There are some things you need to know

about Jang Myeonghwan.

These suit me better than Gyeonghye.

These clothes and this house.

Gyeonghye and the Winners' chairman were

completely pushed out.

Today, I, Jang Myeonghwan,

will become the owner of Winners.

I will destroy you

before you can destroy me.

HAUL SALDOS 2018 | Sílvia Isabel - Duration: 13:18.

Hello everyone, welcome to another video on the channel

I'm all messed up today

all disheveled, the makeup

horrible after a day

but I went shopping

and I decided that I had to record the video today because otherwise I would not record it again

i know myself

and then I decided ... I'm going to sit down

I'm going to record ... I'm super tired, but

it has to be, it has to be now, but before that .. do not forget to subscribe to the channel

and also

to enable notifications

not to lose the next videos .. because it seems now

To receive my videos you must enable notifications. I'll leave it to you how you can do it all.

and lets start

So what I bought on Morphe's website was this. They are brushes. they are 11 brushes

and this is from a collection with Laura Lee

and cost approximately € 60

and there are 11 brushes like I already said

and you can do the complete makeup look with only them

and still came in the bag

and tell me if you want a video to say whether it's worth buying the complete kit or if

there are some that are not worth it, if it is worth buying separate

tell me in the comments

I'm still testing them, I've never used any of the morphe's brushes, but I had a lot of curiosity

and

I'm really enjoying them, I think they are very beautiful.

they are from several different collections, but how was it

designed with her

They are so, they are her favorites.

I'm really enjoying it, but then if you want to, I'll do it video only to talk about them

next

Calzedonia

and I'm not going to show you everything I bought in Calzedonia because it's a little private stuff

but I bought some sweaters because I like them to sleep and they were at € 1.50

I think it's worth it

I bought this style

of handles. I bought one

I bought a blue one, a pink one.

very pretty and also it was € 1.50

lots of underwear, not worth seeing, no one wants to see my underwear

underwear, underwear, bra .... yes

I think I bought too much underwear.

another sweater, this is a light pink, and this was also a € 1.50 and was

€ 9.90, it was worth it

more underwear

then I bought a sweater, I do not even know why I bought it, but to wear it at home

its ok

says smile

i don't even know the size

It's a Large, this is going to be huge, I use a medium

I did not even notice it was a large

This is going to be huge on me

Do you know when we go shopping and get the fever to see everything cheap and want everything?

Well, that's what happened ... and this was how much?

€ 1.50, ahh, for God's sake.

I then bought another sweater.

to sleep, I like things soft to sleep

It's cute and it was

let me guess, € 1.50 .. No, this was, € 2

it was too expensive

I bought these sweaters and the rest was underwear.

and the next store where I went was mango, I think mango always has very beautiful things

and with cheap things and they had huge discounts

so I took advantage

and I made a bit of disgrace and bought two bags

in mango

and I'll show you what I bought

the first thing is a t-shirt

and she was from

it was at € 15.99 then it went to € 4.99 and I think I still paid less

This is it, I do not know if you can see

she's from 90210 Beverly Hills

is a normal t-shirt, to record or to use outside the home. I do not know

a t-shirt ... Then this long-sleeved sweater

because I know we are almost in the summer

but the night is still cold

and she is hot

and at night it works

and she says

sharp tongue club

and I found it very funny what It said and bought

next

another long sleeved sweater

I do not know if you want to know the sizes but in sweaters it's all medium

its like this, also long sleave

This one is thin and very soft.

and this was € 12.99 passed to € 4.99 and I must have paid € 3

and it says

it was fun while it lasted

I like these sweaters that send a tip, it's funny

and the last thing in this bag is a very warm long-sleeved sweater, but when I saw her I could not resist

she is so beautiful, and it was € 25.99 € 17, € 12, € 9 and I think I paid € 5 for it

And look here .. she's so cute.

It seems like there's nothing special about it but then you have these ties.

She is so dear and looks so good in the body.

and back is longer, to wear with leggings or so

its very cute, i really like her

one bag done

Then I bought something that does not make my style much, but

my cousin works on the shop and she bought one for her and she showed me

and I stood behind, and tried

and I dressed him and liked him immensely, I like the material immensely, it is very soft

and I bought .. I do not even know the size ... hmm .. Its an M

He is like this. I do not know if you're going to understand what it's like because it's a little weird.

to show

the sleaves

Are you being able to see what it is like? he is wide

Here's the zipper, and I'm not good at showing clothes.

I'm going to put it aside for you to see

He's weird but looks great in the body.

and I think he's still in the store if they want to go and see, because they have huge discounts

and his color is very beautiful and I do not have anything like that and he looked great in the body

and its also a medium. not shure if i said or not

and she later showed me this sweater and I when I put it on, I was "my God, get me out of here"

and she was at € 35.99

My dog does not shut up.

then it passed to € 14 and I too should have paid about € 5 for it

and the size is a small

and she is very large

There are some drawings to the front.

and on the sleeve and below it is so

and she is also very beautiful and hot and does not itch

I am sometimes afraid that these shirts will itch, but this one is very soft

Okay, we're almost done.

then bought this t-shirt because I love stars

she is short sleeved and transparent so you have to wear a sweater underneath

and she is a Medium

and I could have brought a small but there were none left

she got a little wide in me

I do not know if you can see how she is.

and this one was

€3

and looks great with a black sweater underneath, now for summer

I really liked her, and she was so cheap.

then I bought a jacket that I did not need, and when I looked at it I saw that it was not my style

but

but I want it, and if I want it I'll take it

and it was cheap, and has my favorite colors, blue and pink, so it had to be

he is like this

look at this

Is not it so cool?

for summer it's super fresh

on the bar have white and pink

and this one is a medium

it was € 30, then it went to € 9 and I paid

i think i paid €5 on this one

and on the other jacket i paid €9

something of the genre, but I think this was € 5

it sits very well, crop type and is very soft

it gets is a little wrinkled

but I think it's really the material

but now in the summer I will use a lot

and the last things I bought were two pairs of jeans ... because I was really needing it because

I think I lost weight and the jeans are all wide

and each one cost € 5

this one was €40 and i paid

paid €5, yes

these are a 38, let me button for you to see

they are so over the top ... I like the jeans tights on the body

they are regular jeans ... i like normal jeans

are a normal wash. and for € 5

there's nothing better

and these are also a 38, and were at € 26

and also cost € 5, and these are a gray

and their waist is low

they are very normal

There is only one tear in the knee.

but nothing much

and I really needed new clothes because I have nothing to wear

know the excuse "I have nothing to wear, I need new clothes"

Tell me what was your peace of clothing and if you want more shopping videos because it's an excuse for me to go shopping

women always need excuses to go shopping

I do not have this, I do not have it ... and I'm really looking forward to going to Primark

but I'm saving to get a tattoo, then that doubt ... clothes or tattoo

I think we all have doubts about where we should spend the money and then we end up buying clothes

when we have a closet full of clothes at home

girls ... we are all the same

do not forget to subscribe to the channel and we'll see you in the next video ... bye

FIT FORNES Comer estos alimentos podría extender tu vida - Duration: 3:25.

Why Not to Buy a Used Hybrid Car - Duration: 5:03.

Rev up your engines, today I'm going to help you decide whether

it's a good idea or not to buy a hybrid car, now lately people have been asking me,

Scotty I'm thinking about buying a hybrid car, what do you think about that,

well we'll start with a little history lesson, hybrid's really started with submarines,

they have diesel engines that would recharge the battery,

or run the propellers and then necessary and they were under the water,

they would run only on the electric battery power,

now the early Honda hybrids used a system that was rather similar to the submarines

but it was a failure, people didn't like them, they hardly sold

any of them and they were really slow, as an example of this,

in 2013 Honda only sold 4,802 Insights, while Toyota sold 145,172 Priuses,

so right off the bat I'd say don't buy a Honda hybrid car,

if you want to get a hybrid car you want to use the Prius design, which actually most

manufacturers use, and that's an Adkinson cycle 4 cylinder engine

combined with a hybrid generating system, and using a hybrid battery pack to store the

electrical power, now the early hybrid used nickle metal hydrate

batteries, and they were rechargeable,

the modern ones use lithium ion batteries but for a long time they used nickle metal

hydrate batteries, now in the case of the Priuses,

originally they had 28 Panasonic hybrid modules and each module had 1.2 volt cells in it,

which would make 200 something volts for the whole system, the price of these batteries

has come down over time, now you can get a new one for about $2,600,

but I don't advise going any cheaper than that,

there are places that recondition them, but really you got an old worn out battery that's

made out of a bunch of little batteries, if they replace a few of the battery cells

in them, hey the other ones are still old and they're only going to break down over

time, you really have to go new if your planning

on keeping the car for a long time, so you have to decide how long your going

to drive your car, in the case of the Prius the newer ones come

with a 8 year / 100,000 mile warranty, so if your happy with that you'll never have

to worry about the battery, but if your planning on buying a used hybrid

car that's more than 8 years old that has more than 100,000 miles on it,

then you might want to think twice about that one,

because not only do the batteries cost a lot of money,

but other repairs cost a fortune too, like this one that burnt out the generator,

a customer towed her Prius over to my place because it died while she was driving down

the road, and found out that it wasn't putting out any

charging voltage at all, so I checked all the fuses and relays and

they were all perfectly fine, then I thought, hey it just needs a new alternator,

but guess what, a Toyota Prius doesn't have an alternator,

it uses a generator that's built into the transfer case,

now if it would have been an older Toyota like this old Celica,

the alternator is right here, you just take off a couple bolts and a fan

belt and replace the alternator, you could get a rebuilt one for $100 or so

and put in on in about 10 minutes, but sadly in this hybrid system that's not

the case, it doesn't use an alternator to charge the

battery, it uses a generator, inside the transfer case here it's not seperately

serviceable, I did a lot of research on the internet and

you have to buy the entire transfer assembly for $3,459.68,

and if that wasn't bad enough, it takes over 10 hours of labor to take it all apart and

put it all back together again, so most places are going to charge over $5,000

to do the job, and unfortunately in these 2002 Priuses it's very common for the generators

to short out they overheat and melt, and unless you want to keep buying giant batteries

and recharging them to drive the car, you have to fix it to make it able to drive,

and then of course you have to factor in the cost of the car,

they cost a lot more, how much gas mileage your actually going to get, and does this

amount to a profit over time, a lot of times it doesn't for normal people,

but I recently came back from Seattle and all the Uber drivers there were practically

all driving Priuses, since they get such better gas mile with regenerative

braking, in town, and a lot of taxi drivers do a lot

of in town driving, you see all these Priuses because they're

cheaper to operate, it's a business and your putting a lot of miles on it,

but if your just driving your car normally, you might find that the extra expense of buying

a hybrid, and if your like me and want to keep your car for 100,000's of miles,

the extremely high repairs your going to do as they get old,

it's not really worth it buying a hybrid for somebody who drives like that,

now my opinion on hybrids is this, I see them as a type of stop gap technology,

there half way between gasoline cars and electric cars and since your not fighting a war in

a U boat, it's really not that necessary for most people,

so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring

that bell!
