Today is watchtower memorial day 2017. There are a lot of videos about the way former JW are treated by JW.

But today, we want to talk about something different, namely the so-called "day after"

the first day of you not being a JW anymore, the first day after leaving the community of the JW.

I personally wouldn't call it "the day after" as it's too depressing. I would call it "the first day of a new life"

How did you quit the Jehovah Witnesses?

I quit with a letter, personally

I left on my own accord, although an elder convened a committee.

Whether it was expulsion or not doesn't matter - the outcome is still the same.

I left by self-exclusion.

That means I have written a letter to Selters and the at that time committee.

And as an answer I just got a message on my phone from the coordinator saying that I have been expelled.

I quit the JW by writing an withdrawal letter.

For me, it was a slow process.

I withdrew step by step from them,

until I someday mentally completely broke up with them.

I quit as an interested. It was a very slow process, but after a conversation with my uncle realized that I want to leave the organization. And I told my mother.

Are you still in contact with friends or family that's still part of JW?

Unfortunately, there is no contact whatsoever to friends or family that still belong to JW. It's a pity, but it can't be changed.

I'm still very close to my mother, we see each other regularly and call each other from time to time.

Apart from that, I have a cousin whom I writing letters too.

But with her sister and parents I'm not interacting anymore – for a couple of years already.

Unfortunately not. Not with my former mother and father in law – the father in law was an elder –

and also my ex-wife, which I find sad. But that are their rules and I can't do anything about it.

Unfortunately, I'm not in contact with my family. My family broke off contact with me –

siblings, parents....well, that's how it is, unfortunately.

I do still communicate with my parents, although very superficial.

Talking about religion is pretty much impossible. Only slowly did they realize that I'm no longer attending meeting and that I criticize JW.

That's the same with my relatives on my mother's side and on my father's side I hardly interact with them any more.

Yes, of course I'm still in contact with my mother, we're quite close actually. Unfortunately, that's different with my aunt, uncle and their oldest daughter. With the little one I built a good relationship – which I'm very happy about.

Do you still believe in God?

Yes, I still believe in God and I still like the thought that he will eventually intervene and turn earth into paradise.

But I think that the criteria for getting there are different from the ones we were taught.

I think it's mainly about people practising charity, not about some self-imposed regulations. Therefore I'm optimistic. Yes, I do still believe in God.

I believe in God again. But my faith is definitely different from the one of the JW.

Yes, I do. I believe there is a creator and I'm living my faith the way it's best and most meaningful for myself.

Whether I still believe in God? I don't know. I don't know what's up there.

I do believe that there is something that created the world and that's taking care of us.

But I don't know if that's God or angels. I have no clue.

Yes, but that's a whole new story. Anyway, I don't believe in this old, angry, punishing man any more.

No, not God as a person. But if he really exists and Jesus, then I'm definitely thankful for his sacrifice. But my tendency is towards a higher power, but not a person.

What was the first thing you felt/thought/did that day?

Nothing special. I don't know.

It was strange, because your whole life changed and you're moving towards an uncertain future, but that day....

don't know. Maybe drank a beer? Don't know.

Well, I wasn't present at the disclosure, but on the day I talked to the elder, I felt relieved, I felt freed.

I phoned my that time girlfriend and I think I even opened up a beer.

My feelings were rather mixed. On one hand I was glad and relieved to have left the community.

On the other hand I also knew the consequences regarding my ex-wife, whether our marriage could last.

Unfortunately, it didn't because of her believe.

I felt happy and I was glad to have finally left the JW.

Even though I was a little sad because I also lost contact with my family.

As my leaving happened step by step and very slowly, I can't really pinpoint my final withdrawal.

But I think it was when I was forced to move out of the shared apartment of me and my wife and I was looking for a new apartment in a different town.

In the months before that, I dealt a lot with the teachings of the JW. So moving had a liberating effect.

The next day, I though to myself that my body is mine from now on and I can have sex with whom where and however I want to.

Though I still believed in God, but not in a God of the Bible and especially not in the God of the Watch Tower Society.

And as the Bible says that God is a happy God and we want to copy him, I took him at his word

and celebrated my informal withdrawal that evening my way.

For the first time, I had the feeling of real freedom, of this being the right decision.

Do you miss anything?

Yes, I do. Mum, Dad, my two sisters and one or two friends.

That's something you miss quite a lot. Because a life without parents or sisters -

although you know that they live just a few km from your house - is quite terrible.

I don't miss anything about the teaching of the JW.

I miss my friends, my relatives, because it has been a good time. But I rebuild my life without them, because I had to and because I was able to do so.

To be honest, the only thing I miss are a couple of social contacts which broke up because of their rules.

Apart from that I am glad to have left and I'm trying to make the best of my free thinking and acting.

The only thing I miss is my family and not knowing how they are. Apart from that I don't miss anything at all.

A little bit I miss my friends from that time, the community and rituals that give you a sense of security.

Some years after I left, I could make a similar experience in another community.

Such experiences I can have anytime anywhere else as well.

I don't miss the teachings of the JW or the performance pressure, the unofficial.

Theocratic preachings, Preaching school etc tc. Of course there is something you miss.

Namely the social contacts you had in the community, of course you miss that.

Did you ever think of going back?

No, the though never occurred to me, because my life feels right the way it is right now and that's why I don't think about going back.

To be honest, no. Definitely not.

I returned once after my first expulsion. Then I regretted it.

But I think I needed it to know that it's wrong to be a part of the JW. And now, after my second expulsion,

I am determined never to go back again, because I am a lot happier this way.

Never really. For the first two or three years, I sometimes went to the meetings, out of curiosity,

but I knew that this wasn't a place for me and that I couldn't stand those empty words any more.

On one hand I'm longing for my old friends, but on the other hand I can do without those superficial friendships.

Even if I were to go back, it would never be the same again. I've seen it happen to other people,

who returned for a short period, but they couldn't rebuild their former friendships.

Yes, there really was a point in my life where I thought of it,

but then I always remembered the conversation I had with my uncle, who is a JW as well,

and that always made me choose freedom over JW.

What would you tell your friends and family if you could?

I would tell them that I miss them very much and that life without them isn't very nice,

that I felt horrible because of the loss of contact and that I think it isn't very pleasing to God to leave someone alone

is such a situation only to blackmail them to return to something that's just human made as well, it is a human organization,

there are seven humans as heads of this organization. That's not directly from God. That's something I would tell them, that their way isn't the right one.

I would tell them I miss them and that I'm still there for them,

but I also don't want to pretend that things are awesome between us again.

I'd be aggrieved because of what has happened. And that's why it's probably better

to go separate ways because we have drifted apart.

I didn't decide against you, but against this organization, because I realized it's not good for me

and in my opinion they don't speak the truth. I'd like to say that my doors are still wide open

for you and if you have any questions, you can always come and ask.

I would love to open their eyes, I'd like to show them that life without JW is so much more intense and beautiful.

I just want to tell them that I love them, even though they're not keeping in touch any more .

And if they would ever leave the organization, my arms are open.

To my family and all of my friends that are still with JW:

if you still miss me, it's not ME who is responsible for our separation,

but YOUR rules that YOU have decided on. It's you who are controlled by others.

I'd like to apologise to my cousin for the way I wrote something. I don't want to apologise for the content of the message, but for the situation.

I was quite upset. There's nothing I got to say to my uncle and aunt except that I don't feel like we are relatives

any more and that it is because of your doing. And that's OK, I can accept it, I can live without you.

Are you happy with your present life?

Yes, as I mentioned before, I'm happy, I'm content, my life turned out well,

it's as it's supposed to be, I'm leading a good life. It could hardly be better. It's nice.

I like my life, but I'm not satisfied, which means I can still improve, grow. And that's the beauty of it.

I am a lot happier with my new life. I can do whatever I want,

I made great friends and I will never go back. Yes, I'm very happy.

Yes, a self-determined life definitely makes me happy.

Yes, I am happy. I've got a family, a job and an excellent health. I am happy!

Would you go back?

No, as I mentioned before, I couldn't imagine going back and I never will.

We should speak openly about the subject Jehovah's Witnesses, what we have experienced in this community and endured to this day.

Each of us has made his personal struggle with this religious group in which individual people do not count. Instead, daily performance, fear, and psychological terror reign.

Always keep in mind that we all are different but have one thing in common:

We were caught in this organization and actually managed to free ourselves from a cult, now having the chance to live our lives in peace.

Today is watchtower memorial day 2017. There are a lot of videos about the way former JW are treated by JW.

But today, we want to talk about something different, namely the so-called "day after"

the first day of you not being a JW anymore, the first day after leaving the community of the JW.

I personally wouldn't call it "the day after" as it's too depressing. I would call it "the first day of a new life"

How did you quit the Jehovah Witnesses?

I quit with a letter, personally

I left on my own accord, although an elder convened a committee.

Whether it was expulsion or not doesn't matter - the outcome is still the same.

I left by self-exclusion.

That means I have written a letter to Selters and the at that time committee.

And as an answer I just got a message on my phone from the coordinator saying that I have been expelled.

I quit the JW by writing an withdrawal letter.

For me, it was a slow process.

I withdrew step by step from them,

until I someday mentally completely broke up with them.

I quit as an interested. It was a very slow process, but after a conversation with my uncle realized that I want to leave the organization. And I told my mother.

Are you still in contact with friends or family that's still part of JW?

Unfortunately, there is no contact whatsoever to friends or family that still belong to JW. It's a pity, but it can't be changed.

I'm still very close to my mother, we see each other regularly and call each other from time to time.

Apart from that, I have a cousin whom I writing letters too.

But with her sister and parents I'm not interacting anymore – for a couple of years already.

Unfortunately not. Not with my former mother and father in law – the father in law was an elder –

and also my ex-wife, which I find sad. But that are their rules and I can't do anything about it.

Unfortunately, I'm not in contact with my family. My family broke off contact with me –

siblings, parents....well, that's how it is, unfortunately.

I do still communicate with my parents, although very superficial.

Talking about religion is pretty much impossible. Only slowly did they realize that I'm no longer attending meeting and that I criticize JW.

That's the same with my relatives on my mother's side and on my father's side I hardly interact with them any more.

Yes, of course I'm still in contact with my mother, we're quite close actually. Unfortunately, that's different with my aunt, uncle and their oldest daughter. With the little one I built a good relationship – which I'm very happy about.

Do you still believe in God?

Yes, I still believe in God and I still like the thought that he will eventually intervene and turn earth into paradise.

But I think that the criteria for getting there are different from the ones we were taught.

I think it's mainly about people practising charity, not about some self-imposed regulations. Therefore I'm optimistic. Yes, I do still believe in God.

I believe in God again. But my faith is definitely different from the one of the JW.

Yes, I do. I believe there is a creator and I'm living my faith the way it's best and most meaningful for myself.

Whether I still believe in God? I don't know. I don't know what's up there.

I do believe that there is something that created the world and that's taking care of us.

But I don't know if that's God or angels. I have no clue.

Yes, but that's a whole new story. Anyway, I don't believe in this old, angry, punishing man any more.

No, not God as a person. But if he really exists and Jesus, then I'm definitely thankful for his sacrifice. But my tendency is towards a higher power, but not a person.

What was the first thing you felt/thought/did that day?

Nothing special. I don't know.

It was strange, because your whole life changed and you're moving towards an uncertain future, but that day....

don't know. Maybe drank a beer? Don't know.

Well, I wasn't present at the disclosure, but on the day I talked to the elder, I felt relieved, I felt freed.

I phoned my that time girlfriend and I think I even opened up a beer.

My feelings were rather mixed. On one hand I was glad and relieved to have left the community.

On the other hand I also knew the consequences regarding my ex-wife, whether our marriage could last.

Unfortunately, it didn't because of her believe.

I felt happy and I was glad to have finally left the JW.

Even though I was a little sad because I also lost contact with my family.

As my leaving happened step by step and very slowly, I can't really pinpoint my final withdrawal.

But I think it was when I was forced to move out of the shared apartment of me and my wife and I was looking for a new apartment in a different town.

In the months before that, I dealt a lot with the teachings of the JW. So moving had a liberating effect.

The next day, I though to myself that my body is mine from now on and I can have sex with whom where and however I want to.

Though I still believed in God, but not in a God of the Bible and especially not in the God of the Watch Tower Society.

And as the Bible says that God is a happy God and we want to copy him, I took him at his word

and celebrated my informal withdrawal that evening my way.

For the first time, I had the feeling of real freedom, of this being the right decision.

Do you miss anything?

Yes, I do. Mum, Dad, my two sisters and one or two friends.

That's something you miss quite a lot. Because a life without parents or sisters -

although you know that they live just a few km from your house - is quite terrible.

I don't miss anything about the teaching of the JW.

I miss my friends, my relatives, because it has been a good time. But I rebuild my life without them, because I had to and because I was able to do so.

To be honest, the only thing I miss are a couple of social contacts which broke up because of their rules.

Apart from that I am glad to have left and I'm trying to make the best of my free thinking and acting.

The only thing I miss is my family and not knowing how they are. Apart from that I don't miss anything at all.

A little bit I miss my friends from that time, the community and rituals that give you a sense of security.

Some years after I left, I could make a similar experience in another community.

Such experiences I can have anytime anywhere else as well.

I don't miss the teachings of the JW or the performance pressure, the unofficial.

Theocratic preachings, Preaching school etc tc. Of course there is something you miss.

Namely the social contacts you had in the community, of course you miss that.

Did you ever think of going back?

No, the though never occurred to me, because my life feels right the way it is right now and that's why I don't think about going back.

To be honest, no. Definitely not.

I returned once after my first expulsion. Then I regretted it.

But I think I needed it to know that it's wrong to be a part of the JW. And now, after my second expulsion,

I am determined never to go back again, because I am a lot happier this way.

Never really. For the first two or three years, I sometimes went to the meetings, out of curiosity,

but I knew that this wasn't a place for me and that I couldn't stand those empty words any more.

On one hand I'm longing for my old friends, but on the other hand I can do without those superficial friendships.

Even if I were to go back, it would never be the same again. I've seen it happen to other people,

who returned for a short period, but they couldn't rebuild their former friendships.

Yes, there really was a point in my life where I thought of it,

but then I always remembered the conversation I had with my uncle, who is a JW as well,

and that always made me choose freedom over JW.

What would you tell your friends and family if you could?

I would tell them that I miss them very much and that life without them isn't very nice,

that I felt horrible because of the loss of contact and that I think it isn't very pleasing to God to leave someone alone

is such a situation only to blackmail them to return to something that's just human made as well, it is a human organization,

there are seven humans as heads of this organization. That's not directly from God. That's something I would tell them, that their way isn't the right one.

I would tell them I miss them and that I'm still there for them,

but I also don't want to pretend that things are awesome between us again.

I'd be aggrieved because of what has happened. And that's why it's probably better

to go separate ways because we have drifted apart.

I didn't decide against you, but against this organization, because I realized it's not good for me

and in my opinion they don't speak the truth. I'd like to say that my doors are still wide open

for you and if you have any questions, you can always come and ask.

I would love to open their eyes, I'd like to show them that life without JW is so much more intense and beautiful.

I just want to tell them that I love them, even though they're not keeping in touch any more .

And if they would ever leave the organization, my arms are open.

To my family and all of my friends that are still with JW:

if you still miss me, it's not ME who is responsible for our separation,

but YOUR rules that YOU have decided on. It's you who are controlled by others.

I'd like to apologise to my cousin for the way I wrote something. I don't want to apologise for the content of the message, but for the situation.

I was quite upset. There's nothing I got to say to my uncle and aunt except that I don't feel like we are relatives

any more and that it is because of your doing. And that's OK, I can accept it, I can live without you.

Are you happy with your present life?

Yes, as I mentioned before, I'm happy, I'm content, my life turned out well,

it's as it's supposed to be, I'm leading a good life. It could hardly be better. It's nice.

I like my life, but I'm not satisfied, which means I can still improve, grow. And that's the beauty of it.

I am a lot happier with my new life. I can do whatever I want,

I made great friends and I will never go back. Yes, I'm very happy.

Yes, a self-determined life definitely makes me happy.

Yes, I am happy. I've got a family, a job and an excellent health. I am happy!

Would you go back?

No, as I mentioned before, I couldn't imagine going back and I never will.

North Korea 'doesn't care a bit' about U.S. travel ban: Official - Duration: 1:49.

In the wake of the death of college student Otto Warmbier,... the U.S. government announced

this month that Americans will soon be prohibited from traveling to the country.

While it's expected to deal a heavy blow to North Korea's small tourism industry,...

ONE official claims Pyongyang isn't that concerned.

Cha Sang-mi tells us more.

A senior official in Pyongyang told the AFP news agency on Tuesday that North Korea "doesn't

care a bit" about Washington's ban on U.S. citizens traveling to the country.

Han Chol-Su, the vice-director of the Wonsan Zone Development Corporation, instead took

aim at the U.S.,... insisting the travel ban was purely political motivated.

Travel agencies that offer North Korea as a destination are certain the U.S. travel

ban will greatly impact the small tourism industry in the North.

"Because this is you know, how they make money individually, as well as as a company.

And people working in tourism is their mandate and their responsibility to host guests.

And this will of course, reduce the number of guests they have so..."

The U.S. State Department said the move was due to "mounting concerns over the serious

risk of arrest and long-term detention under North Korea's system of law enforcement."

The plan will take effect in late August, 30 days after the notice is posted in the

Federal Register this week.

Experts say the ban is setback for North Korea which has strategically been developing Wonsan,

a port city in Kangwon Province, as a tourist hotspot.

About five-thousand Western tourists visit North Korea every year, with around 20 percent

of them Americans.

STRONG WOMAN LIVING IN THE AREA.

ASSAULT, THE COP SHOW UP AND SHE APPROACHES THE VEHICLE, ONE OF

THE COPS WAS STARTLED AND SHOT HER.

SHE DIED AS A RESULT.

PEOPLE HAVE BEEN UP IN ARMS AND EXTREMELY ANGRY.

SOMEONE TOOK

MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS AND MADE A POLITICAL STATEMENT BY

PUTTING UP THESE SIGNS WHICH HAVE SINCE BEEN TAKEN DOWN.

THE MAIN THING IS THE TRAINING.

TIME AGAIN COPS HAVE BEEN GIVEN A PASS WHEN THIS

EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS.

IT SENDS THE MESSAGING THAT YOU CAN

BE CARELESS.

ALL YOU DO IS STATE YOU FEAR FOR YOUR LIFE AND THE

GRAND JURY WILL NOT AND THAT YOU.

THE COMMUNITY WILL STAND

BEHIND YOU BECAUSE BEING A COP IS A HARD THING.

BUT NOW ALL OF

A SUDDEN BECAUSE THIS IS NOT IMPACTING ONE DEMOGRAPHIC,

PEOPLE ARE UP IN ARMS AND CONCERNED AND WANT ANSWERS.

Vandal Michael Fay Sentenced to Cane Beating Singapore [1994] - Duration: 1:12.

In March, news a Singapore Court had sentenced an 18-year-old American to six

strokes with a bamboo cane swept around the world. "It's the first I've heard of

it. I'll look into it." And Michael Fay, who insists he was tortured into confessing that he

spray-painted cars, was instantly caught in the middle of a raging debate.

"'Yes,' says one. 'People should be responsible for their actions.'

'Let the Vandal take his beating,' says another." "If anybody just put themselves

in this position I don't think anybody would want a kid or someone close to

them to be beaten with a cane." After President Clinton personally appealed

for leniency Singapore reduced the sentence from six lashes to four but

that wasn't much consolation for Michael Fay. "I was bent over halfway. I mean my

back was bent in a ninety degree, and I was cuff... buckled like this and he's

whipping as going on each step. "Do you hear the whip?" Yes, I can.

And the third third step he strikes and he cuts open your buttocks. "And there's a lot of pain?"

There's a lot of pain. Throughout the incident Singapore insisted its

strict laws made it one of the safest nations on Earth.

Helping Families at Anasazi Foundation - Duration: 1:37.

I think one of the reasons that I am drawn to working with families—on a personal level—is

just because of my own family history.

I have a wonderful grandfather who, when he was growing up, he was, he was in a situation

of neglect he—after his parents divorced—he and his sister slept in a doghouse and ate

dandelions, sometimes, when there was not enough food.

And so, he was a better parent than what he had been given, but still, still wasn't the

best and then my mom, his daughter, she, as a parent, was as good as they come.

I am the recipient of both of them making generational changes that totally impacted

their future family's lives and I am, like I said, I am the grateful recipient of those

changes that they made, kind of those hinge points.

And so, I think one of the reasons that I love working at Anasazi so much is because

I get to see parents in that process of making these hinge changes that will have a lasting

impact on their family's lives and that's a sacred opportunity to get to see that happening.

Ice Skating: Tonya Harding Attack on Nancy Kerrigan [1994] - Duration: 1:37.

That's smash of a baton on Nancy Kerrigan's knee kept her out of the

National Skating Championships and on the front page for months. It meant she

couldn't qualify for the Winter Olympics in February. The whispers began

immediately that people close to rival Tonya Harding were involved.

I can't believe it. I mean why does someone want to discredit me?

I just don't understand. "Were you shocked when you heard some of these things?"

It's ludicrous. It's totally ludicrous.

But it wasn't. Her husband Jeff Gillooly and bodyguard Shawn Eckhardt were involved, and she knew it.

She admitted it just days later. "I had no prior knowledge of the planned assault

on Nancy Kerrigan I am responsible, however, for failing to

report things I learned about the assault when I returned home from Nationals.

Gone with Harding's Olympic dream: her marriage, her membership in the

U.S. Skating Association and a $100,000 fine imposed for the part she played in

hindering the investigation of the attack. Her former husband, Jeff Gillooly,

was given two years in jail. 18-month sentences were handed to Tanya's

bodyguard Shawn Eckhardt, hit man Shane Stant, and the getaway car driver,

Derrick Smith.

28 Ways to Talk About People Negatively in English - Duration: 7:52.

Hi I'm Anne Marie with Speak Confident English and welcome to your Confident

English Wednesday lesson. Over the past couple of months I've started a series

of lessons focused on describing people, their personalities, characteristics,

and traits. And in the first lesson we used some stories to help us highlight

some key language. Then in the second lesson we focused on ways to describe

people in a very positive way, the things that you love about someone. So it's time

to focus on those not so positive traits, those things that we don't like about

people so much. Sometimes it's just true about life. There are people that we

don't like or there are things that we don't like about people. So how do you

talk about those in English? That is what we're going to focus on today. In the

online lesson, I do have a very long list of examples, vocabulary words, idioms that

we use to describe people but today in the video I'm going to focus on a few of

my favorites or words that I know that might be very new or even challenging in

English. So number one is the word aloof. If someone is aloof it generally means

not very friendly, they're very distant and cold, they don't feel engaged with

other people. They are aloof. Number two an armchair critic. I love this

expression. It means a chair where there are arms, you can rest your arms on the

chair and someone who just sits there and gives criticism that really isn't

helpful. Imagine that you're at a business meeting and every time you have

a business meeting the same person is always criticizing every idea but they

never provide their own ideas or solutions. He or she might be an armchair

critic. Number three a busybody. Do you have any idea what this one might mean?

We use this to describe a person who is always getting involved or always wants

to get involved in someone else's life. They're always trying to get information

and try to interfere with other people's lives. They want to know a little bit or

a lot about everyone. So maybe you have someone in your office who's a bit of a

busybody. Clingy. Clingy. This one is a way to describe someone

who always wants to be with you, they never leave you alone, they need you all

the time. And honestly this can get a little

annoying. If someone needs you all the time

they are clingy. Now I just use the word annoying and that makes me think of

another great word that has a similar meaning to being annoying: obnoxious.

Someone who is obnoxious is just annoying. They drive you crazy. Now

someone who is obnoxious could also be a wet blanket or a killjoy. These are

people who unfortunately steal all the fun. Every time you have a great idea or

if you're planning some fun party, a wet blanket or a killjoy always steals the

fun. They always find a reason why you can't or you shouldn't or they just

complain all the time and it's not fun to be around them which means they could

also be annoying and obnoxious. A know it all. A know it all is someone who thinks

they know it all, they know everything and of course that's not true but they

like to pretend or make you think that they know everything and again this can

be frustrating or annoying.

Picky. Do you know anyone who is picky? This is used to describe someone who is

really hard to please. Imagine that you have a friend that you really love to

spend time with, you enjoy conversation but you never go to a restaurant with

her because every time you try to go to a restaurant nothing ever satisfies her

or if you go to an Italian restaurant she can't eat pasta, if you go to another

restaurant she can't eat this or that or that.

She's maybe a little bit picky. Here's another one of my favorites to be full

of hot air. If I say oh he's just full of hot air it

means that someone just talks and talks and talks but there's no value, there's

no substance, there's nothing meaningful. It's just a

bunch of words. They're full of hot air. The next one is grumpy and I have to

admit I am a bit grumpy in the mornings before I have my coffee. I wake up

very sleepy and tired, I don't want to talk to anyone until I've had my cup of

coffee. Grumpy can mean a little bit

bad-tempered or to be in a bad mood. You're moody. And our last one for our

video lesson today is materialistic. Materialistic. This is used to describe

someone who is focused or even obsessed with possessions and money. All they

think about is getting more money so they can buy more things. They are

focused on material goods. They are materialistic. And now you have a big new

list of idioms and useful vocabulary to, yes, talk a bit negatively about others.

As I mentioned, in the online lesson you will find many more examples so that you

can really expand your vocabulary this week. And I do want you to try practicing

but this is a sticky topic. I would love for you to practice using some of these

expressions to describe some of the more negative traits of people that you know

but because we're focused on the negative I do want you to keep it

private, so no names. Just describe someone that you know. You can get more
