Today I want to invite you for a long awaited review of a big box,
so on my table at last
'The Edge of Downfall'
Today Kickstarter campaing for this game is going to start.
And I want to share my impression on the game, so we are starting!

It's highly poss ible that while looking on this game you will think exactly the same as me.
Big box, massive number of pieces,
there will be a lot happening on the board.
So, complicated and hard game.
Well you can't be more wrong.
Rules of the game are so simple and clear
that without much problem you can introduce
total novice into the game. Even a person that
dones't really know much about boradgames. And he will do just fine.
Big trump
is the rulebook.
like you are lead for the hand.
I can even omit that the
paper is really good quality
and graphics have nice vibe to them.

The simplicity and
clarity of the rules
are making it even easier
to start the game.
I'm still wondering how
creator was able to put so many
game mechanics into such simple rules.
We have a whole list of them here.
Except of main rules like moving,
controlling board, deck building,
using card from hand
we have dice roll mechanic.
The is a storytell mode
in the game where
you can cooparate with others.
the list of machinics is really long.
And what is really amazing is that
there is no better or worse mechanic
which will dominate the others.
All of them are working together excellent.
They are complement to each other.
Everything is working together
and makes it super as a whole,
enclosed in simple, accessible rules.
I would want to say some more about deck building,
not that its the most importnant
or sole mechanic of this game.
But its really importnant
to build your deck as well as
to do many other things.
Game is rewarding a player who knows cards.
I think we can say that the power
is hiding in the cards.
The better you know
your fraction cards
the better deck you will build.
The better deck we will build
the closer we will be to winning.
Furthermore if we know cards of our opposite fraction
because we can play any availible fraction
we can change squads so we will learn more cards.
And we will be able to learn more about that game
game and reach more deeply into tha game.
So deck building late on is really enjoyable.
For players who like and know how to build decks
the game will fulfill their expectations.
And for players that want to learn
about deck building it is a good opportunity.

'The Edge' with their big card pools
for each fraction gives many opportinities.
When we are preparing a board
and choosing cards for our deck
(25 cards for 1vs1
15 cards for 3-4 players game)
That's the moment when we are planing
when we are thinking about tactic.
We are starting to put our strategy
into our deck, which we can late check
in the game if its succesfull.
Decisions we are making
while building deck
will change the game
we will play on the board.
Awesome about this game is that
the more we know about the game
and cards the more we will
want to change to test out new setups
add or subtract some cards
considering opponent
we are playing agaist we will modify
our basic decks
and its really enjoyable
Our choices will deterimne cards
we will draw onto the hand and in consequence
our availible choices in the game.
The more copies of a cards
we will put into the deck
higher the odds of getting action
we wanted to take in game.
To tell the truth
we have a huge influence
on our troops fate.
Obviously the opposite player
or players : )
will try to stop us.
It's a duel game
which everyone want to win.
Everyone want to get the victory points
as fast as possbile or just destroy the opponent.
Witouth question, the game is really dynamic.
From the beggining there will be a lot of action,
things will change all the time
well it's a duel
no matter if we are playing
as 2, 3 or 4 players we will have offensive attitude,
we would want to strike the opponent
before he can strike us to simply destroy our opponent.
for me 'The Edge' is game
between typical battle game
where we have to measure exactly where to move our troops
and duel boardgame
and all this measuring in battle games
which well I'm sorry
is a little bit boring for me.
is replaced with something really simple but still working.
There are cells on the board
that are building up larger spaces
that we are using for moving.
we have simple rules
of moving on the board with our models
and that's it !
It's working we don't need measuring just great : )
To be perfectly honest
that's not a game for sensitive people.
not for people that can stand
some negative interaction but the don't like...
no no ... don't ruin the game
for yourself and others.
here this whole game
is based on negative interaction
you will get huge dose of it
and because I really like negative interaction
in game and I'm looking for it in games
thats why I really enjoyed the match.
my usual group, my team
like negative interaction too
and action in general,
and 'The Edge' fullfilled our expecttions.
here there is no room to take offense
or grieving a loss because you already want a revenge
no matter i won or lost i want to play again
choose another fraction change
a tactic or even on the old one
there is so much impressions and emotions
you really want to come back
mostly negtive ones
as you may get really angry
but that's the essence of this game
without a doubt that is not a game
There is a lot of emotions,
negative ones, negative interaction
because we are invaiding and murdering each other
we have to attack and destroy our opponent
do it as efficiently and fast as possible
before he will do it for us there is no room for dilly-dallying
we have to act as one
little misstep may be used by the oponent.
big box contains many opportunities and big dose of emotions
there is a huge number of possibilities in the game
we can play 1vs1
with 3 or 4 players
3 or 4 players (2vs2 or 1vs1vs1vs1)
we can play campaing we can play solo mode
i haven't even play campaing yet
considering game modes
i will tell a little bit about game scaling
i played with 2, 3 and 4 players
mode and without a doubt i liked 1vs1 the most
it's that typical duel mindset
where the game did the very best
in comparision the worst was 3 player game
I'm not telling it was really bad
or pointless just the scaling was really off.
3 player mode somehow lacked emotions
in 3 player mode we are using
the same board as for 4 players
adding second part of the map
and in my opinion the is too much space
there is no longer that tightly on the map
and you can no longer feel this close combat vibe
everything is somehow going apart
there still are emotions
and its still nice but
if I would have to choose I would rather play 1vs1
than add 3rd player
How about randomness in this game?
There are dices so there is randomness.
Another randomness moment
is drawing card from your deck.
But we have huge influance on randomness in this game .
For both dices and drawing cards.
We are building deck on our own
and it depends on us how it will end up.
Maybe put more cards we really want into the deck
and take a risk to garbage card later on
but thats already our
planing and preparing for the game.
While on dices ... : )
I really don't like in games
when from single draw of the dice depends how much damage
I will make if any.
I'm really unlucky while trowing dices
(obviously I know it's random) but I still don't like it.
But in this game after adapting simple mechanic
(similliar with cells on the map)
randomness was tuned down by large margin.
Abviously throw is still random
and you can get low score
bu t on both dices we have 2 sides that allow us redo our throw
and another thing if we can afford to pay a crystal.
If we managed our currency correctly
we can use better red die.
We increase our chance
to get 6 not only 4 which is the case with yellow dice.
Influence on randomness is really substansial in this game.
The same as
how many mechanics
is in the game,
in you playstyle
you can focus on just one or 2 things.
You can to watch over everything.
You have to manage cards in your hand
from the previou sly build deck
(which you have to build in correct way).
You have to dive into that game
get to know your faction .
The better we know the opponent
the deeper we will understand the game.
You have to pay attention
for your availible crystals,
you have to keep track your opponents active and passive turns,
how it may change situation on the board
and what is current model positioning.
Where are the crystal sources.
Do we have enough crystals?
Or maybe it will be wise to give some victory points?
Maybe endurance?
Prepare squads while keeping in mind
that some may be used as meat shields
some for defense and some for attacking.
Everything depends on our.
Judgement opportunities is truly manifold.
This game
will give us a mo nths
or maybe even a yeard of freat fun.
Obviously everything depends on
how often we will play it
but here is so many opportinities and so many modes.
We have differe nt fractions
that which may be used in different ways,
we can build decks in different ways,
we can play with d ifferent people
on diferent player number.
We can play campaing,
solo there is so many options
that truly we will have long months of great fun.
Another nice thing that surprised me in this game
is that huge box so much plastic, tokens, a lot of things
made me wonder 'God it will take hour to set up a board
and who will clean it up later?'
No! Unbelivibly nice in this game
is that on the board every card and piece has their predesigned place.
We have order and I really like it.
Squad cards are put in their places our deck,
has a place and banner also has a place.
Even crystals have place
and when used are going to spend crystals zone.
It allows to step up a game just like that.
It is really working.
It's allow to arrange all elements
to prepare the gameplay... Just done!
Ok this game is big
and while playing 3-4 player
mode you will need a big table
but on 2 players mode
its not that bad you can compare it
to others like 'Lords of Hellas'
I think needs more space,
'Cyclades' also needs more space.
Obviously when we are setting 3+ game,
we need a lot of space,
but you can't even compare setting up a board
for 'The edge' and 'Cyclades'.
There before we will set up
all this additional cards, mini-boards
took out all pieces ...
Obviously I love this game 'Cyclades I mean : )
In 'The Edge' it was a plesent surprise
that setting up a game in really fast
even with so many pieces and the same goes
for cleaning after play,
and its really pleasant because this game is really fast.
That is typical duel despite
all the plastic we have to carry out
its still keeps it intensity,
like in 'Warhammer Invasion'
where we can set up game really fast
that is the same here.
I kind of smoothly transitioned to how game looks.
So it is importnant to note how molding looks
I'm not mentioning it often,
because mostly there is no point
but here its absolutely worth noting .
We have plenty of mode ls here.
These models have different components
sometimes really fragile,
so there is high risk
they may be damaged quickly.
So I will compare 'The Edge' to 'Lord of Hellas'
not to mention it is the same publisher.
i think every owner of 'Lord of Hellas'
know what you have to face againt
while paking back the box it's challange...
to close it up (I can't close it up...)
Here we doesn't have this problem.
Here every model has its place.
Molding is great truly made on high level
even card have the ir place.
There is place for token,
every fraction has their own leader
and it is always bigger
sometimes really detailed
sometimes all these tools to fight it's very thin plastic
but dont be afraid nothing wrong will happend
molding is made the way that our models are safe.
And we have everything in order
and I really like
and had to share it with you.
Now about the models.
We have 6 fractions plus one more
in expansion in this distribution.
We always have one bigger leader model,
medium models and some small ones.
Every fraction is like totally different story
it looks astounding
it really made impression on my
It looks amazing.
and i really want someone to contact me
and paint all these models.
I would feel like in boardgame heaven :D
then but back to the Earth .
There is a lot of models
there are really detailed.
But I don't like a few of them .
I even took o ut 'Zombiecite Black Plague'
and compared some wolf
with other wolflike thingy from 'The Edge'
and 'Zombicite Black Plague' looked better
beacuse there was no visible connections in the model.
In 'The Edge' there are some models,
when you can see connection in the models.
But i't more my exaggera tion.
It is not that it's a flaw,
because it's not characteritic of every model.
They are really detailed especially.
Leader models I really like them.
Every one of them although not every fraction style
is something I'm fond of even,
so every model have this something in it.
Every model except
of puting you into the story,
of the fraction is made super.
First time I opend the box
and when I have seen this bases and cells
I was wondering why
some have 1,2,3 or even more bases.
Now I obviously know why,
thanks to that we have great mechanic
for moving on board and you couldn't did it simplier.
Its also nice that bases
are in colors, so we won't make mistake
and I really like one more thing.
In fractions there are models
that are multiple for example x3
(it is still the same troop but in different visiual)
also there are different squad cards for different visiuals.
For example: there is a fraction with the shield
guy on it Holy Knight was the model name I think.
This tropp have the same stats
on every visiual type
but as we can use all 3 of them in single battle
to avoid confusion visiuals is different.
but my coplayer, like different thing which I want to point out.
I'm glad they made it but my coplayer

on the cards we can found illustrated actions
for example when unit have characteristic
of piercing enemies with daggers it is exactly
like that on the card.
or when we take a card when blade is ripped out
from unit hand its also illustrated on that card.
It is like whole action is shown on the card
It just a flavour we will discover as we play
but there is a lot of it and it is super.
When I'm talking about quality
and I have told about I don't like
this connections on some models.
Maybe it is not a flaw
because it is not happening on every model
on the contrary I have spot it only on few.
I even have a dice where paint fell off
because it was used like that (emotionsXD)
I don't treat it as a flaw altrough
I dont understand (well I do)
but it is kind of bothering me that 2 boards in 3-4 player game mode
when we are putting board together they are displaced so the cells will be in order.
it's kind of irritating
it is not much of a flaw
you can get used to it but kind of asking to be leveled.
ok it is like that we w ill have to live with it
about the quality the board edges are sharp
so we can already see the outer layer peeling off on edges
but in general the quality is marvelous from the rule book
each fraction sheets (kind of help card for me),
all the notebooks, stickers, campaing maps, models, cards, tokens, molding
really outstanding quality.
In ameritrash games climate is a main feature
and the climate is really pouring out of the game
we can feel like a commander of the armies.
We will feel difference between the fractions,
because there is sharp distinction between them.
We also have plot which introduces us into the game atmosphere,
but above everything esle we can see
the fractons standing against each other on the board
and and that is really making great mood.
I don't want to talk to much because
it is pretty obvious but climate is super visualised by all the graphics
Mechanic checked, interaction checked, dynamic checked,
scaling checked, climate quality prize checked
so it is high time to sum it all up that is pros
and cons of the game 'The Edge Dawnfall'
Dynamic, fast, duel game with simple rules, in game depth, really addictive (it has that thing),
ohh negative interaction there is too much of it for some people, great models, high quality,
variety of options, great for people that like deck building,
there is so many pros that i could talk and talk
what was annoying that was connections on some models,
board connection is is still bothering me,
the biggest con is scaling for 3 players it is much better as a duel for 2 players or 4 players
altrough all of this is compensated by the long list of pros
atmosphere, quality, number of possibilities, months of great play,
The emotions on the board on the table and even below the table there is trouly that much of it
and just as big the box as much the game will give us.
This is a game for players that like fighting like when board is soaking the blood,
like emotions, like tactical thinking, move the brain cells, beacuse they have to do it here.
like to be surprised and surpr ise others,
like this ameritrash climate, this game is giving us all of this is delivering splendidly
in addition we have we are guaranteed to have months of gameplay if not years
and that why this is my new king this it the first game that will get
fully deserver 10 from me
ok my dears it everything for today i hope i was able to show you closer look on that game
to show that polish creators, polish publishers can make fantastic games
that go intro the world and amaze fans of fast dinamic games which can tired your brain
that require to start up your brain cells
strategic, tactical, hard, heavy (unfortunetely untranslatable wordplay)
but easy to learn 'The Edge' has all of this
