Youtube daily report w Jul 23 2018

We all know that Switzerland has been neutral for over 200 years, but what if a fucking spinning wheel

decided for Switzerland decided the ideology of Switzerland decided who

Switzerland would invade and what would Switzerland build and do with itself?

So, let's see what happens when a spinning wheel decides for Switzerland

so first of all

We have to decide which ideology we will pick so let's ask the spinning wheel

What ideology we will pick let's go spinning wheel time to spin the shit out of you and they're fairly we're going fascist

So let's do what spinning wheel tells us

Okay, so we have decided that we are going fascist

But now we have to decide what are we going to build? So let's ask the spinning wheel

What are we gonna do for one year and let's spin the wheel and let's see the result

Okay, so fuck you spinning wheel in the first place, but we have to build land forts for one year

So let's start building land forts all around the country. Let's go land force all around the country

So as we can see we need eight steel. So why not?

Ask the spinning wheel if we actually need it and let's see what the spinning wheel tells us spinning wheel

I wish you're gonna give us some steel. Yes. We are going to buy steel. Thank you spinning wheel

Alright, France. Give me your steel. So as you can see yes here

We have a great chance of getting a ton of manpower, but we cannot decide anything

So we have to ask the spinning wheel if we are allowed to take this manpower

So let's go to our God spinning wheel. Hello spinning wheel. Can I mobilize the army?

I think a lot of manpower

Don't mobilize fuck you spinning wheel as we are going back to the arts where for without

Mobilizing anything. Well what our

Construction looks very interesting very bunkering the shit out of our nation. Okay, as always we have a thing called

Research what should I research?

A sheep or a great great tank right here. Oh, yeah, I forgot

We cannot research anything without asking the wheel

So what should we get a tank or a ship?

will tell me right now and

Fuck you will once again

Fuck you

Them together fucking submarine. So now we can either open up our political discourse and

Basically become fascist or they're gonna go into a civil war

So you're gonna ask the wheel do we go with a referendum?

Please Felipe's will they become fascist or do we go in a civil war?

We'll tell me wrong wheel section. Let's go to the other wheel section. All right, so

ideology here

Civil war or referendum for fascism. Let's go. We'll don't give me the civil war and

We are faithfully going with a referendum

Hmm. I wonder which focus should I choose either?

I will revive the economy or we revive the military from here

Oh, wait. What what what am I thinking? I cannot do that only the spinning wheel can't decide what I will fucking do

Give me the military

Thank God, okay, let's go revive the military. Okay. So here we have our economy law

But as we all know I cannot decide jack shit for our country

So we're gonna ask the spinning wheel once again, which economy do we pick?

Ah

Please stand by while our operon is killing himself, okay

Now I really want to research a tank and not a ship this time

So we will ask the spinning wheel if we are allowed to take a tank this time

So spinning wheel, I believe in you. Give me a tank, please

Back to the game and let's research a submarine

So I've been thinking here to take a Chief of Army

But as we all know we have to ask the wheel do we pick a chief of army?

Chief of Navy or chief of Air Force. So let's see what the wheel tells us once and fucking again. Let's spin the wheel

With the

Navy

My country does not even know what it's access to the sea that you're giving me naval

Bullshit this time. I want this tank so fucking bad

Give me a tank

So it's the new year I've been building land force for the entire year as the wheel said to us

Now we have to decide again. What will rebuild this time? So let's ask the wheel. Ok, let's go

What should we build this time will tell us?

What should we build for one year?

Build civilian factories. I'm ok with that Thanks. So as it's the new year. I've made a decision that

Either we invade one of the majors randomly or invade Austria

So let's ask the spinning wheel who will be invade this year. Ok from all of these majors and Austria

I hope I get Austria. I don't want to go to war with Germany Italy or France

Because they're right next to me. So let's hope we won't get any of them or I'll be fucked

So closed Austria at least it's up Japan. Fuck it. Fuck it. Let's go anime

Let's go to war that's not important. I don't give a shit. Oh shit Soviet sir sending me volunteers

Thank you stalling Soviets. Welcome to Switzerland the land of the spinning wheels for now. Ok guys

I think it's now the time to decide about our economy once again, so let's ask the spinning wheel

Tell me can we pick another economy, please?

Please okay. Take care immobilization. That's better than the fucking

Civilian economy. Let's go early mobilization

Ok, guys. I've made a decision

War with Japan is not enough for me. I

Really really want invade Austria before lunch loose. So let's

See at the spinning wheel

What country can we invade one more country about to invade one more country?

So let's ask the spinning wheel right now who should be in wait, come on spinning wheel. Give me Austria

Ok, we are already at war with Japan. So that doesn't count. Let's go again. Come on. Give me Austria

It's Austria Thank You spinning-wheel. Thanks a lot. We can continue to live on this planet

Let's go back to Hawaii for and let's get our army on the border with Austria

Okay time to declare war on the Austrians and time to attack them. Come on. Let's go. Let's go

Let's go swiss army for the window. Keep in a circle that one unit. Great. We're there german porn serves

It looked like they were trying to enter austria was like fuck fucking Germans and Italians

Are helping those three and somewhere it triggered Elif standing here

Destroying these guys map are they're just dying on the border. Come on

Don't let them stop us go forward fat asses Hitler's doing else loose. I'll be faster than lunch loose. Come on

Send these men towards Vienna as quick as possible. Okay? I think we're faster. No, I have no idea

Who's faster me or Hitler me or Hitler Oh

God come on

Yes, we took we took Austria. Yes, whit, okay

All right guys, so we took Austria like one day before Hitler dead. So now

It's the interesting thing. We have to ask the wheel. Do we annex all of Austria?

Do we pop at it or do we leave it there for Hitler? So let's say guys

What does the wheel tell us do we annex it? Do we take nothing or do we puppet it? Let's see

Yes, guys we have to Alex it so that's awesome

Let's go back to hearts of iron and annex all of Austria and hopefully Hitler won't want these territories

He probably will but whatever. Let's just take it Oh guys. We have an incoming lend-lease from Czechoslovakia

They want to send us support equipment, but we have to decide this with the spinning wheel. Do we accept the lend-lease?

Let's see spinning wheel

Should we accept the lend-lease?

Of course we should

Great job spinning wheel. You're improving. Let's take the with Mentos guys this time

I want the cheaper for me last time we had to pick a chief of Navy because of the fucking spinning wheel

But hopefully this time we won't have to pick another chief of Navy and we'll actually have to take the Chief of Army

so let's ask the spinning wheel if we are allowed to do that and

Give us the fucking answer pick a chief of army. Thanks a lot

The spinning wheel is improving for all the shit that I did to me earlier. So guys, it's a whole new year and

Now we have to decide what do we build again for one year. So let's ask the spinning wheel

What should we build or what should we not fill?

Hey guys as it's the new year we have to decide who will be in wait

So this time let's see the wheel. I deleted the ones we have already declared war against

So, let's see and let's check. We will have to wait this time. Ok, it's the United States of America

It was so close to being Italy. Luckily. It's not Italy

Let's go was declare a war against the United States as we did last year

I think we should declare a war

Against another country like we have to declare two wars in one year

So, let's see who will be declared war against now, and hopefully it won't be a really strong nation

Alright

Pretty much fucked we have our lesson, right?

Here and we are about to die, right?

Yeah, guys, what should I say don't ever trust a motherfucking spinning wheel ever

I can try the spinning wheel but really don't trust the fucking spinning wheel ever ever

Yeah, guys

Thank you all for watching

Boujee On A Budget: DIY Fake Acrylic Nails - Duration: 4:20.

Hey everyone The Pretty Witch here.

Welcome back to my channel.

If you're new here make sure you go ahead and hit that subscribe button.

So today I'm going to be doing a completely new video series and it is called Boujee On

A Budget.

So going forward I'm going to make some videos that include my tips and tricks on how to

look glam without actually breaking the bank.

So today's first video I'm going to teach you how to put on a fake set of acrylic nails.

So I used to go to the salon and get my nails professionally done and I would get long acrylic

nails.

I would get crazy colours crazy designs.

I would also get 3D stones etcetera.

That stuff all adds up and sometimes you're looking at roughly forty to fifty dollars

for a set of acrylic nails.

So I'm going to teach you how to get those long glamorous nails and it's just going to

cost you a few dollars.

So first thing you're going to need is some fake nail tips.

Now you can probably find these at your local Sally's beauty.

I will also put a link down below where you can find them as well.

You can pick these up for literally like five hundred in a pack for just a few dollars.

Then of course you're going to need some nail glue to put those nail tips on.

You will also need a nail clipper.

You're also going to need a nail file.

I don't actually have one on me at the moment so I'm just going to use this buffer to file

down any of the nails.

So first thing want to do is find the right size nail tip.

So if you notice whether they come in little bags or in a little case they're all going

to have different numbers which indicates their different sizes.

So as you can see this fake tip here is going to be perfect size for my pinky.

So just basically line them up on your finger and you'll be able to tell if it's going to

be the right size.

You just want to push it all the way back to your cuticle and make sure the entire nail

is covered.

Now if you can't find one that is exactly the right size just take a file and file down

the edge.

Next you're going to take the nail glue and you're just going to put a few tiny drops

right onto the end of the nail where you're going to be applying it onto your natural

nail.

And you're just going to stick it on like so and you want to press and hold it for about

a good fifteen seconds.

So one down and then you're just going to continue with the rest of your nails.

So as you can see I have all the tips on.

Next you're going to take your nail clipper and you're just going to trim them to your

desired size.

Now I do like them rather long so I'm probably only going to go to about there and trim them

off.

Once you have your nails cut to your desired length then you're going to take your file

and just file them down to your desired shape.

So there's stiletto shape, coffin style, square, rounded etcetera.

So for this video I think I'm just going to keep them nice and square.

So next you just want to go ahead and pick your shade of nail polish.

Today I'm going to be choosing this kind of white pearl colour.

I just think in the summer with a nice tan and bright colours, the white just really

pops.

So I'm just going to go paint these off camera and then with the magic of editing

I'll be right back.

So here's my finished nails.

So as you can see boring naked nails.

Boujee on a budget.

Okay so I hoped you liked that DIY tutorial on how to create your own set of fake acrylic

nails.

Please comment down below.

Let me know if you like this idea for a boujee on a budget series.

Let me know any kind of tips and tricks you would like me to do in any kind of future

videos.

Gilles Lipovetsky – A identidade na era Facebook - Duration: 4:59.

Previously, there was a face to face relationship

in our identity construction.

This aspect is still there but now there's also,

thanks to the social media,

the possibility

of showing others

things that you wouldn't be able to show in life, as when you meet someone

in a restaurant, on the street, or at work.

It seems to me that

nowadays, if we take a look at social media

we realize that identity

became much less about the serious questions

that used to define identity in other times: politics

and religion, for example.

It happens more and more through activities and cultural tastes

that individuals affirm through their personal identities.

They tell everyone what they do in their private lives,

what they like, what their tastes are.

"I went to see a movie, I took this pic."

And then people post their messages, their pictures

and get "likes".

On Facebook and in other social media,

there is no "didn't like".

That was the main subject of a big internal discussion on the platform,

by the way, and they sensed that they shouldn't allow people to "don't like"

and thus, at the bottom of it,

it's simply a place for acknowledgment

and gratification.

You may receive unpleasant messages, but

that's not a part of the network framework.

And now we are studying all those things very carefully.

People post a picture, for example,

that they took on a Sunday jaunt,

when they saw something, usually something a little bit original.

We like to share stuff that are a little bit original, and we include a picture,

maybe also little text.

And so we can ask ourselves:

"Why did I post this picture?".

What happened inside my head?

That's not your job, you're not a journalist,

there was no reason at all.

Many researches shows that people expect

a symbolic and emotional compensation for their pictures.

People expect to be "liked". And there is

some frustration

when nobody reacts to something you posted on Facebook.

You feel excluded or unloved and, as a consequence,

identity here is built on approval,

on the acknowledgement of other people who are saying to me:

"Yes, this is marvelous,I loved your pic", etc.,

and individuals receive every day a kind of

symbolic feeding, which brings them a bit of satisfaction:

"my friends do appreciate me. I am worth something,

because people like what I do". So

in social media, people affirm themselves

upon a hedonistic foundation.

A Porto Rotondo? La piazzetta di sera è desolata. Il Blu Beach, i cui lettini ricordano ancora i tanga di Noemi Letizia, aspetta Agosto per decollare

L' unica attrazione è rimasta Silvio Berlusconi.

Bootstrap Card Image Zoom in Zoom out Effect - Must Watch - Duration: 8:20.

Hey everyone, welcome back to daily tuition.

In this tutorial, i will show you how to create this wonderful card zoom in zoom out image

hover effect.

When you move mouse cursor on the card image you will see this image zoom in effect and

when you move cursor you will see zoom out effect.

but before we start this video make sure you press the subscribe button and also press

the bell icon to get notify of my every new video and don't forget to press like button

you find anything useful in this video.

so before we getting late let's get started.

open visual code editor and create a new project.

in that project insert stock folder and in that folder insert three images.

now first create index dot HTML file and create style.css file.

in index.htm file create simple HTML5 snippet and specify title

and then in the heading tag link style.css.

Open this file in live server.

now you wanted to add Bootstrap in our project so I will go to get bootstrap website and

from here I will copy this cdn and paste it on the head section of index.htm.

In the body tag create container class and in this class insert a row with justify content

Centre class.

justify content Centre class is use to Centre all the elements.

in this class we are creating three columns of col MD 4.

in each column we insert bootstrap card.

so to create card we go to the bootstrap website and click on component and select card.

we will select this card and copy this code and paste it in the first column.

in the source attribute I will specify part of our image.

so here I will specify the stock folder and name of the image.

Then we will increase the width of the card and specify 20rem.

Change the card title and button text. and then specify

some demo test in the card paragraph.

so I will copy some text and paste it here.

And then change button primary to success.

to centre of the text we add text Centre class.

that's it.

now you will see your card is ready but we wanted to add some Shadow in the background

so we add Shadow class to the card.

now you will see the shadow applied to the card.

I will create second and third card also so I will copy the first card and paste it in

the second column and in the third column.

now we just wanted to change source attribute of the image tag and change the card title.

I will change the image and card title text of 2nd and 3rd card.

now you will see your card is ready.

in style.css select container class and specify margin-top from 8%.

this will Centre all the cards.

now you wanted to create image hover effect on this card.

So to create this image zoom effect we will wrap img tag in the division and specify class

inner.

so cut and paste the image tag in the inner class.

do the same for second and third card also.

after that in style.css file select inner class

and specify overflow property hidden.

then select image tag and specify transition property to all specify duration 1.5s and

specify Flow of the animation ease.

after that create hover effect on inner class and select image tag and specify transform

property scale 1.5. using scale function we increase the size

of the image.

Now when you hover on the image you will see this zoom effect.

so when you move your cursor over the image you will see zoom in effect and when you move

your cursor you will see zoom out effect.

let me show you what happened if I remove overflow property inner class.

so when you remove this property you will see like this.

Using overflow property we just hide the overflow content so when you move your mouse cursor

on the image.

image is still increasing his size but the rest of the content will be hide.

that's it.

our image zoom in zoom out function is created.

if you find anything useful in this video then must press the like button and also press

the subscribe button to get notify of my every new video.

that is also now.

we will see you in the next tutorial.

till then be happy and keep watching.

Hearts of Iron 4: Spinning Wheel Edition - Duration: 12:04.

Like the video if you want more videos like this you can recommend if I should do the same thing with spinning wheel but something

else and

The tiny creature that secretly powers the planet | Penny Chisholm - Duration: 16:38.

I'd like to introduce you to a tiny microorganism

that you've probably never heard of:

its name is Prochlorococcus,

and it's really an amazing little being.

For one thing, its ancestors

changed the earth in ways that made it possible for us to evolve,

and hidden in its genetic code

is a blueprint

that may inspire ways to reduce our dependency on fossil fuel.

But the most amazing thing

is that there are three billion billion billion

of these tiny cells on the planet,

and we didn't know they existed until 35 years ago.

So to tell you their story,

I need to first take you way back,

four billion years ago, when the earth might have looked something like this.

There was no life on the planet,

there was no oxygen in the atmosphere.

So what happened to change that planet into the one we enjoy today,

teeming with life,

teeming with plants and animals?

Well, in a word, photosynthesis.

About two and a half billion years ago,

some of these ancient ancestors of Prochlorococcus evolved

so that they could use solar energy

and absorb it

and split water into its component parts of oxygen and hydrogen.

And they used the chemical energy produced

to draw CO2, carbon dioxide, out of the atmosphere

and use it to build sugars and proteins and amino acids,

all the things that life is made of.

And as they evolved and grew more and more

over millions and millions of years,

that oxygen accumulated in the atmosphere.

Until about 500 million years ago,

there was enough in the atmosphere that larger organisms could evolve.

There was an explosion of life-forms,

and, ultimately, we appeared on the scene.

While that was going on,

some of those ancient photosynthesizers died

and were compressed and buried,

and became fossil fuel

with sunlight buried in their carbon bonds.

They're basically buried sunlight in the form of coal and oil.

Today's photosynthesizers,

their engines are descended from those ancient microbes,

and they feed basically all of life on earth.

Your heart is beating using the solar energy

that some plant processed for you,

and the stuff your body is made out of

is made out of CO2

that some plant processed for you.

Basically, we're all made out of sunlight and carbon dioxide.

Fundamentally, we're just hot air.

(Laughter)

So as terrestrial beings,

we're very familiar with the plants on land:

the trees, the grasses, the pastures, the crops.

But the oceans are filled with billions of tons of animals.

Do you ever wonder what's feeding them?

Well there's an invisible pasture

of microscopic photosynthesizers called phytoplankton

that fill the upper 200 meters of the ocean,

and they feed the entire open ocean ecosystem.

Some of the animals live among them and eat them,

and others swim up to feed on them at night,

while others sit in the deep and wait for them to die and settle down

and then they chow down on them.

So these tiny phytoplankton,

collectively, weigh less than one percent of all the plants on land,

but annually they photosynthesize as much as all of the plants on land,

including the Amazon rainforest

that we consider the lungs of the planet.

Every year, they fix 50 billion tons of carbon

in the form of carbon dioxide into their bodies

that feeds the ocean ecosystem.

How does this tiny amount of biomass

produce as much as all the plants on land?

Well, they don't have trunks and stems

and flowers and fruits and all that to maintain.

All they have to do is grow and divide and grow and divide.

They're really lean little photosynthesis machines.

They really crank.

So there are thousands of different species of phytoplankton,

come in all different shapes and sizes,

all roughly less than the width of a human hair.

Here, I'm showing you some of the more beautiful ones,

the textbook versions.

I call them the charismatic species of phytoplankton.

And here is Prochlorococcus.

I know,

it just looks like a bunch of schmutz on a microscope slide.

(Laughter)

But they're in there,

and I'm going to reveal them to you in a minute.

But first I want to tell you how they were discovered.

we were playing around with a technology in my lab called flow cytometry

that was developed for biomedical research for studying cells like cancer cells,

but it turns out we were using it for this off-label purpose

which was to study phytoplankton, and it was beautifully suited to do that.

And here's how it works:

so you inject a sample in this tiny little capillary tube,

and the cells go single file by a laser,

and as they do, they scatter light according to their size

and they emit light according to whatever pigments they might have,

whether they're natural or whether you stain them.

And the chlorophyl of phytoplankton,

which is green,

emits red light when you shine blue light on it.

And so we used this instrument for several years

to study our phytoplankton cultures,

species like those charismatic ones that I showed you,

just studying their basic cell biology.

But all that time, we thought, well wouldn't it be really cool

if we could take an instrument like this out on a ship

and just squirt seawater through it

and see what all those diversity of phytoplankton would look like.

So I managed to get my hands

on what we call a big rig in flow cytometry,

a large, powerful laser

with a money-back guarantee from the company

that if it didn't work on a ship, they would take it back.

And so a young scientist that I was working with at the time,

Rob Olson, was able to take this thing apart,

put it on a ship, put it back together and take it off to sea.

And it worked like a charm.

We didn't think it would, because we thought the ship's vibrations

would get in the way of the focusing of the laser,

but it really worked like a charm.

And so we mapped the phytoplankton distributions across the ocean.

For the first time, you could look at them one cell at a time in real time

and see what was going on -- that was very exciting.

But one day, Rob noticed some faint signals

coming out of the instrument

that we dismissed as electronic noise

for probably a year

before we realized that it wasn't really behaving like noise.

It had some regular patterns to it.

To make a long story short,

it was tiny, tiny little cells,

less than one-one hundredth the width of a human hair

that contain chlorophyl.

That was Prochlorococcus.

So remember this slide that I showed you?

If you shine blue light on that same sample,

this is what you see:

two tiny little red light-emitting cells.

Those are Prochlorococcus.

They are the smallest and most abundant photosynthetic cell on the planet.

At first, we didn't know what they were,

so we called the "little greens."

It was a very affectionate name for them.

Ultimately, we knew enough about them to give them the name Prochlorococcus,

which means "primitive green berry."

And it was about that time

that I became so smitten by these little cells

that I redirected my entire lab to study them and nothing else,

and my loyalty to them has really paid off.

They've given me a tremendous amount, including bringing me here.

(Applause)

So over the years, we and others, many others,

have studied Prochlorococcus across the oceans

and found that they're very abundant over wide, wide ranges

in the open ocean ecosystem.

They're particularly abundant in what are called the open ocean gyres.

These are sometimes referred to as the deserts of the oceans,

but they're not deserts at all.

Their deep blue water is teeming

with a hundred million Prochlorococcus cells per liter.

If you crowd them together like we do in our cultures,

you can see their beautiful green chlorophyl.

One of those test tubes has a billion Prochlorococcus in it,

and as I told you earlier,

there are three billion billion billion of them on the planet.

That's three octillion,

if you care to convert.

(Laughter)

And collectively, they weigh more than the human population

and they photosynthesize as much as all of the crops on land.

They're incredibly important in the global ocean.

So over the years, as we were studying them

and found how abundant they were,

we thought, hmm, this is really strange.

How can a single species be so abundant across so many different habitats?

And as we isolated more into culture,

we learned that they are different ecotypes.

There are some that are adapted to the high-light intensities

in the surface water,

and there are some that are adapted to the low light in the deep ocean.

In fact, those cells that live in the bottom of the sunlit zone

are the most efficient photosynthesizers of any known cell.

And then we learned that there are some strains

that grow optimally along the equator,

where there are higher temperatures,

and some that do better at the cooler temperatures

as you go north and south.

So as we studied these more and more and kept finding more and more diversity,

we thought, oh my God, how diverse are these things?

And about that time, it became possible to sequence their genomes

and really look under the hood and look at their genetic makeup.

And we've been able to sequence the genomes of cultures that we have,

but also recently, using flow cytometry,

we can isolate individual cells from the wild

and sequence their individual genomes,

and now we've sequenced hundreds of Prochlorococcus.

And although each cell has roughly 2,000 genes --

that's one tenth the size of the human genome --

as you sequence more and more,

you find that they only have a thousand of those in common

and the other thousand for each individual strain

is drawn from an enormous gene pool,

and it reflects the particular environment that the cell might have thrived in,

not just high or low light or high or low temperature,

but whether there are nutrients that limit them

like nitrogen, phosphorus or iron.

It reflects the habitat that they come from.

Think of it this way.

If each cell is a smartphone

and the apps are the genes,

when you get your smartphone, it comes with these built-in apps.

Those are the ones that you can't delete if you're an iPhone person.

You press on them and they don't jiggle and they don't have x's.

Even if you don't want them, you can't get rid of them.

(Laughter)

Those are like the core genes of Prochlorococcus.

They're the essence of the phone.

But you have a huge pool of apps to draw upon

to make your phone custom-designed for your particular lifestyle and habitat.

If you travel a lot, you'll have a lot of travel apps,

if you're into financial things, you might have a lot of financial apps,

or if you're like me,

you probably have a lot of weather apps,

hoping one of them will tell you what you want to hear.

(Laughter)

And I've learned the last couple days in Vancouver

that you don't need a weather app -- you just need an umbrella.

So --

(Laughter)

(Applause)

So just as your smartphone tells us something about how you live your life,

your lifestyle,

reading the genome of a Prochlorococcus cell

tells us what the pressures are in its environment.

It's like reading its diary,

not only telling us how it got through its day or its week,

but even its evolutionary history.

As we studied -- I said we've sequenced hundreds of these cells,

and we can now project

what is the total genetic size --

gene pool --

of the Prochlorococcus federation, as we call it.

It's like a superorganism.

And it turns out that projections are

that the collective has 80,000 genes.

That's four times the size of the human genome.

And it's that diversity of gene pools

that makes it possible for them

to dominate these large regions of the oceans

and maintain their stability

year in and year out.

So when I daydream about Prochlorococcus,

which I probably do more than is healthy --

(Laughter)

I imagine them floating out there,

doing their job,

maintaining the planet,

feeding the animals.

But also I inevitably end up

thinking about what a masterpiece they are,

finely tuned by millions of years of evolution.

With 2,000 genes,

they can do what all of our human ingenuity

has not figured out how to do yet.

They can take solar energy, CO2

and turn it into chemical energy in the form of organic carbon,

locking that sunlight in those carbon bonds.

If we could figure out exactly how they do this,

it could inspire designs

that could reduce our dependency on fossil fuels,

which brings my story full circle.

The fossil fuels that are buried that we're burning

took millions of years for the earth to bury those,

including those ancestors of Prochlorococcus,

and we're burning that now in the blink of an eye

on geological timescales.

Carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere.

It's a greenhouse gas.

The oceans are starting to warm.

So the question is, what is that going to do

for my Prochlorococcus?

And I'm sure you're expecting me to say that my beloved microbes are doomed,

but in fact they're not.

Projections are that their populations will expand as the ocean warms

to 30 percent larger by the year 2100.

Does that make me happy?

Well, it makes me happy for Prochlorococcus of course --

(Laughter)

but not for the planet.

There are winners and losers

in this global experiment that we've undertaken,

and it's projected that among the losers

will be some of those larger phytoplankton,

those charismatic ones

which are expected to be reduced in numbers,

and they're the ones that feed the zooplankton that feed the fish

that we like to harvest.

So Prochlorococcus has been my muse for the past 35 years,

but there are legions of other microbes out there

maintaining our planet for us.

They're out there

ready and waiting for us to find them so they can tell their stories, too.

Thank you.

(Applause)

Trump Staffers STILL Complaining That Women Won't Date Them - Duration: 3:42.

Fox News is a little late to the game, here, as these reports have been out since at least

February of this year.

Nonetheless, this weekend, they decided to talk about the fact that nobody in DC wants

to date staffers for Donald Trump.

Fox News went out there, they spoke to people that work for Trump, former aids, current

aids, people in the White House, but they actually focused more on the women, rather

than the men, who'd been the focus all of the other reports on this issue.

These women, who work for Donald Trump, say that, "We basically had to start dating amongst

ourselves.

We have to stay within this White House pool of staffers if we want to find a date."

Why?

They don't like being lectured about how horrible of a person they are, because they support

Donald Trump.

That's just inconvenient.

They don't want to have to sit there and defend their beliefs or justify them to another human

being.

They would rather date somebody that they know they don't have to have an actual intellectual

conversation with.

It's the same thing with the men, who work for Donald Trump, who've been whining about

this for months now.

Again, first report on this came out, I think, about February of this past ye- or 2018.

They're mad.

They don't want to have to tell people they work for Trump, because nobody wants to date

them.

See, here's the reality of it.

If you're a decent person, if you're not horrid, if you're kind and polite, and treat other

people with respect regardless of who you work for, you're going to be able to find

a date.

A job's a job.

There're plenty of people in this country with horrid jobs, who have wonderful, healthy,

relationships.

Yet, these people wat to blame the fact that their terrible human beings and can't find

another person willing to love them on the fact that they work for Trump.

That's a cop out.

It's not because you work for Trump, it's because you either believe in the horrible

things that he says and does, or you're just a horrible person straight up.

That's what it is.

You can work for somebody who is awful.

At the end of the day, a job's a job, and people need to work, because they have to

pay rent, and buy food, and do all kinds of other things to survive.

Nobody's going to hold it against you.

If you take the horribleness of your job and put it into your private life, yeah, it's

going to cause problems amongst the people that you're trying to date.

I'm sick and tired of hearing these whiny Trump staffers say that nobody want to date

them, because they work for Trump.

No.

It's because you're a piece of crap and you don't know how to treat other people with

dignity, especially those that you're hoping to start a romantic relationship with.

Now, I find it ridiculous that I have to sit here and act a some kind of relationship therapist

for these people, but that's the reality here.

F

ox News went on to say that it's just not the people working directly for Donald Trump

and his administration.

No.

It's even the lobbyist, who have lobbied with this administration and have worked closely

with him on issues.

They can't find dates either.

That just shows you how ridiculous this argument is.

Pretty soon, it's going to stretch into, "Oh, well, I saw Donald Trump cross the street

one time and now nobody wants to date me."

There're a lot of things in this country that are bad, that we can blame on Donald Trump,

but your ability to not find a date isn't one of them.

Rand Paul BUSTED Spending Campaign Money On Lavish European Vacations And Limos - Duration: 2:56.

Republican Senator Rand Paul has always been somebody who has been out there railing against

what he calls wasteful government spending.

Hell, even government spending that's not wasteful, Rand Paul always seems to be against

it because at heart the guy is a Libertarian.

He doesn't think the government should be spending any money on anything and that private

industry can always just fix any problem that pops up in the world.

Well, apparently Rand Paul found one problem that the private industry can't fix.

And so he's had to go out there and spend his own campaign re-election money on things

like luxury vacations to Europe.

Hotels in Italy.

Limousines in Rome and all kinds of other things that most of people in this country

will never ever get to experience.

Rand Paul like so many others in Washington D.C., is an absolute hypocrite.

And yes, the new reporting from the Center for Responsive Politics lays out exactly how

Rand Paul is spending that campaign money.

Here's some it.

He's using funds from his political action committee re-inventing a new direction.

Paul spent $11,043 at restaurants in Italy in Malta last year.

He spent $4,492 on limousine services in Rome and $1,904 on an upscale hotel in Athens.

He also $1,575 at a Trump hotel restaurant.

Now, do those sound like the actions of a man whose good with money or whose against

wasteful spending?

Because, again, this isn't technically his money.

This is money that he raised through his pack for either his own re-election or to hand

out to other Republicans to help with their elections.

Instead, much like his buddy Devon Nunez who we reported on last week, he's just spending

it on himself.

On these luxury vacations, which again, is against the rules.

Unfortunately, nobody ever enforces these rules anymore.

Citizens United has made it to where even when things like this are illegal, nobody

wants to touch it because they're going to find some kind of way to argue that no, no,

no, I was over there in Italy campaigning.

This was a campaign function.

That's what Devon Nunez did out in California and I guarantee you, it's what Rand Paul would

say about his vacation in Italy.

Nonetheless, this story at the very least proves what a hypocrite Rand Paul is because

if he wants to talk about responsible spending, then he needs to start with himself.

Once he gets his little luxury vacation problem under control, then maybe he'll have a little-bit

of credibility to argue that the government shouldn't be wasting any money.

ODD SQUAD | A Fake Vault in A Fake Town | PBS KIDS - Duration: 3:05.

It's amazing, Doug.

You look exactly like the vault owner.

I really don't see it.

Do me a favor: put these on.

I don't know. I still don't see it.

Doug, you look exactly alike.

Well, not exactly...

'cause that's a piece of paper,

and I'm a human being.

Trust me, it's close enough.

I need you to act like him so we can trick Symmetric Al

into thinking that he's at the real vault.

Nice. I always wanted to be an actor.

I never knew that about you.

Yeah, I dabbled in the theater a little bit

before getting into egg salad.

A lot of guys will go the other way -

they'll start in egg salad and then move to acting -

but, uh...

yeah, that wasn't old Dougie's path.

No regrets.

[drill whirring]

Wow! It looks just like the real thing!

Yeah, but we're having trouble finishing this painting.

Why is only half of it done?

We don't know what the other half looks like.

The agent that took the picture of the real painting

had his thumb over the lens.

Was it Ohlm?

It was Ohlm, yep.

Mm.

[Olympia] Wait a second.

This is Symmetric Al's signature.

That means he must have painted it.

So that means it should be symmetrical!

[Olympia] If this painting is symmetrical,

then the missing side should be a mirror image

of the side we see...

like this.

I'll get started on it right away.

Whoa!

The key expert is also a paintspert?!

Both compliments.

Thank you.

I'd like you to have my great-aunt's captain's hat.

Oxley, I appreciate all these gestures,

but we really have to focus on the mission.

That's exactly what she would have said. Hm!

[cell phone rings]

Olympia speaking with her voice.

Hi. It's Owen.

Symmetric Al is inside the fake town.

Hold on. Get those trees into position!

Go, go, go!

Hey, where's that third house?!

[Owen] Okay, guys.

Here comes Al around the corner.

That sidewalk's holding.

He doesn't it's made of clay.

[chuckles] He thinks the cars are real.

Hopefully, he doesn't touch them.

Cue the remote-control man.

He's too close, he's too close! He's gonna hit him!

Phew.

Cue kids with wagon. Great.

Now let me hear some birds chirping.

[birds chirping]

Now give me a rainbow!

Aw, man, he missed it!

Sorry, Olympia. How's that vault coming?

It's almost ready.

[Owen] Hurry! Symmetric Al will be there any minute!

He's approaching the intersection.

When I say "Now," cue street rainbow.

Now!

Ahh, he missed it again!

Sisters Give Each Other A Texas Makeover For Under $50 - Duration: 8:59.

- We look like we're a couple.

- Yeah it does.

(upbeat music)

Hey y'all it's Shila and I am going to fly to Texas

where I'm gonna meet up with my sister.

We haven't had a chance to go on a road trip together.

This will be a good opportunity to bond.

- I haven't seen Shila in so long

and it's going to be nice to get reunited.

- [Shila] From El Paso, we're gonna drive

three hours to Marfa.

- [Shirin] So we can go to Camp Kona.

- And we're gonna style each other.

It's gonna be fun because I get to make her

my little Barbie doll.

(upbeat music)

I feel like I'm in Texas.

It's already hot and humid.

I can feel my hair frizzing up as I speak.

Usually I'm the last minute person.

I'm the late one.

This time around, I'm waiting on her.

Shirin and I's dynamic is that

she's more of the let's hurry up, I wanna get ready.

I like to kind of enjoy life a little bit.

(clock ticking)

(rock music)

Look who's here!

- Two canceled flights later. - Oh my god.

Woo, she made it.

I must say, I was here before you.

That's kind of a big deal.

- That wasn't by choice.

(laughing) (cat meows)

- I'm not affectionate. (cat meows)

- You're like my little kitten.

(rock music)

- Hey y'all, we're about to go to a boutique.

We have to find a full outfit for under 50 bucks.

- I'm a little worried for Shila.

(Shila laughs) - Girl, just be worried

of how hot you're gonna look.

(rock music)

- [Shila] Wardrobe Exchange was the first

place that we went to.

Shirin and I have pretty similar tastes,

but she tends to go for the basics

and I kinda want to open horizons.

I'm going for like a west Texas vibe.

I wanna put her in colorful patterns,

something that pops.

- My vision for Shila is to do a little Texas boho-chic,

so '80s retro vintage look.

This is interesting.

Dang these are some snazzy pants.

I don't know who I'm shopping for, myself or for Shila.

- I got more than what I needed,

but I just kind of kind of never

have gotten to style Shirin before,

so I'm going to town with it.

So this feels like Texas to me.

I wanna style an outfit based on these boots.

They're so cute.

- I really like this bandeau crop top.

I think it'll look great with some white shorts.

- These are definitely pieces I've never seen before on her.

- We have a lot of color.

I'm not comfortable with color.

This looks like something that my grandma

once wore back in the '80s.

This dress seems a little fun.

They're kind of cute.

I don't know if I could see myself around town in them, but.

- Yeah I look like a pumpkin.

- I feel like in the beginning

you weren't happy with a lot of the choices.

- [Shirin] She's mad.

- [Shirin] She was picking items that I was like

I'm never going to wear this.

It's a flat no.

(French horn music)

- What did you think of that outfit?

- I really liked the top.

The skirt is too long. (record scratch)

- We ditched the skirt, have a little belt tied in,

and I think it's not too bad.

- [Shila] It's actually the west Texas look

that I envisioned.

I feel like I went above and beyond

picking different outfits that she can experiment with

and all she has for me is three shirts

and then three jeans.

Some of the patterns are questionable.

My boobs will not look flattering in this top.

This shirt I like a lot.

I'm a little concerned about these stripes, but--

- Hey, what's up?

- First look. - Ooh.

Wait I didn't choose this outfit for you.

- What, I thought you did.

- No you didn't.

Did you just put this in the pile of clothing?

Shirin, okay that's cheating.

Sorry, you can't wear that.

But it looked cute.

See, color looks good on her.

(drum roll)

- [Shirin] Okay, that looks good.

- [Shirin] There was definitely a moment of panic

when everything I picked out was not working.

This is a skirt that's on What Not to Wear.

- I'm currently in emergency mode.

Shila didn't like any of the outfits that I chose for her.

We have a few minutes before we have to head out to Marfa.

I got so desperate I was in the men's section.

Then I found this Harley Davidson men's large shirt.

So she's gonna wear it as a dress.

And to accessorize, I got her this

very trendy belt that was only $6.99 and this was only $13.

So, looks like I'm on budget, but what's new?

And I'm sure Shila spent way more than me,

as usual. - Dang.

- Even though I was at already $45.45,

I feel like the look isn't fully complete.

So I was like, okay maybe there's

some sunglasses or something we can check.

- We're going to our second location, The Red Door Vintage.

Shila only has $5 to spend.

I luckily have $20, so let's see what we can find.

(bright music)

- The Red Door Vintage has been around

for six and a half years.

We support a lot of local artists.

We do a lot of the heat press.

We do on the spot alterations.

For some Marfa accessories,

I would do the sunglasses, the hats.

- There's so many cute things here

that I think I'm gonna have one of these shirts altered

and I'm definitely gonna get her these babies.

- [Shirin] I found these really cool aviators

with the blue tint that will match her biker dress.

And these vintage earrings.

- It was cool getting to talk to the owner.

- The girls like to come in oversized T-shirts,

so you can just do on the spot altered top.

- [Shila] We ended up getting these

El Paso shirts on our own.

It was a very unique experience

and I'm glad I could have experienced it with my sister.

We're finally on our way to Marfa.

We've done all the shopping.

- Check out our bags in the back.

- This is our first sister road trip.

And I think what better way to remember it than

having these altered El Paso shirts

made by a local artist.

That was the beginning of our road trip.

(rock music)

There was honestly no sight of any buildings

for over 50, 60 miles.

We got really hungry so we went

for snacks at the nearest gas station.

- I asked the cashier, "Where's the nearest restaurant?"

And he was like, "It's about 60 miles out."

I was like, okay, I'm gonna stock up on some water.

- Shirin definitely over-prepared with that gallon.

But that's Shirin, she's always super prepared.

And always very hungry.

I always have to make sure she gets fed or she gets cranky.

Shirin, are you eating?

You're always eating.

- We made it to Camp Kona.

There's so many cool things to explore here.

- [Shirin] My inner Texan came out

and I was able to whip that thing into shape.

- [Shila] Everyone is so friendly here.

We even met this 90-year-old man

who was dancing with us on the dance floor.

- [Shirin] Yeah, Marfa locals know how to get down.

They were just dancing how you would dance

if you were in your room by yourself, music blasting.

(upbeat dance music)

- The waiter was like, "You girls again?"

And we're like, "Yeah."

- I'm ashamed.

- It was the best time. (record scratches)

- On the real, I actually really enjoyed it.

- I wouldn't have done this with anyone else.

This was a trip that I wouldn't have made on my own,

and I'm glad that I got to experience it with you.

- Same, I also love how we're wearing

what you got me and what I got you.

- Yeah, I know.

Typical. - Typical.

- I think it was overall a 10 out of 10 weekend.

Are we near a public bathroom?

I need to empty out the tank I just drank.

No, okay, alright.

- I thrifted this dress in San Antonio.

I love everything about it except this gaping hole.

But this part covers it, so it's all good.

(upbeat music)

- Hey, Unsolved is on a new channel.

Now your part.

- [Both] Subscribe here.

That was my part.

MOST NATURAL SYNTHETIC BOB | FT FRIDAYNIGHTHAIR.COM - Duration: 2:13.

Hi Queen stay tuned for more of this gorgeous unit

Welcome back. I'm Sheena I go by Queen she today. I'm doing a show-and-tell of Fridaynighthair.com

GLS51 in the color TT purple get into this color y'all

Super pretty not too vibrant

Definitely not dull. It's a very healthy

In-between the signature hairline as always is poppin. It's my favorite thing about Friday night hair units

This unit is cute for an every day protective style

I would recommend trimming the bangs you can see I'm playing with it here

I would cut that part of the bang a little bit just to add layers and help keep it to the side

In that way in that style

That's what I would prefer and that's what I recommend

If you want to make this unit pop even more customize it to your face

Other than that the shape of this unit is perfection. It's super cute. It's your good old go to

Bob I love the idea of this unit in a 1b or two or red, that would be pretty

but this purple unit is

super super cute

Also, what's common with Friday night hair?

Units you have to tweeze apart and you have to put concealer in it. I

Experienced no shedding with this unit. The lace is a hard lace

So that is something definitely to keep in mind all of their synthetic units have hard lease

Every day, I imagine a future where

I can be with you

In my hand is a pen that will write a poem

Just move your hand

write the way into his heart!

But in this world of infinite choices

What will it take just to find that special day?

What will it take just to find

that special day?

Have I found everybody a fun assignment

to do today?

When you're here, everything that we do is fun

for them anyway

When I can't even read my own feelings

What good are words when a smile says it all?

And if this world won't write me an ending

What will it take just for me to have it all?

Does my pen

only write bitter words for those who are dear to me?

Is it love

if I take you, or is it love if I set you free?

The ink flows down into a dark puddle

How can I write love into reality?

Ernest Hemingway's Unbelievable Real-Life Story - Duration: 5:57.

Ernest Hemingway wasn't just an immensely talented author, he was also an icon of 20th-century

bullishness and masculinity, a surprisingly sensitive soul, and one of the most beautiful,

awful, and intriguing figures in literary history.

Hemingway's life may not have been the longest, but it was filled with drama, driven by ambition

and streaked with blood.

"I believe that love that is true and real creates a respite from death.

All cowardice comes from not loving or not loving well, which is the same thing."

Wounds from childhood and war

Hemingway's mother was gripped by a desperation to have twin children.

In order to feed her fantasies, she often dressed the young Ernest up in clothes identical

to his sister's, referring to them both as her "sweet Dutch dollies."

Just why little Ernestine, as his mother often referred to him, became so obsessed with masculinity

is surely no surprise.

The outbreak of conflict in Europe during 1914 marked the beginning of Hemingway's first

war.

He first volunteered in France for the Red Cross, before becoming an ambulance driver

for U.S. forces after their entry into the war in 1917.

In July 1918, Hemingway was struck by shrapnel from an Austrian mortar shell while serving

in Italy.

His experience in Italy would lay the foundations of the plot for his novel A Farewell to Arms,

arguably one of his finest works.

The golden age of Paris

It's difficult to think of Hemingway without seeing Paris.

He was one of the elite group of writers, artists, musicians, and thinkers who lived

in the city during its golden age, a period masterfully captured in Hemingway's final

book, A Moveable Feast.

Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley Richardson, soon befriended a number of local personalities,

such as Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, Pablo Picasso, and James Joyce.

"You're too self-effacing, it's not manly.

If you're a writer, declare yourself the best writer!

But you're not, as long I'm around, unless you wanna put the gloves on and settle it."

But, in 1927, Hemingway's marriage came to an end when Hadley discovered his affair with

a fashion reporter named Pauline Pfeiffer.

They divorced, and Hemingway married Pfeiffer later that year.

In 1928, Ernest and Pauline Hemingway moved to Key West, Florida.

Papa Hemingway and his mutant cats

The Hemingway Home is one of Florida's most well-known sights and tourist destinations.

It was Pauline's Uncle Gus who purchased for them their now-legendary house on Whitehead

Street.

The extraordinarily beautiful house, which was also extraordinarily expensive, is still

filled with the Hemingways' own personal touches.

These include trophies from foreign expeditions, a writing studio, and a unique breed of six-toed

mutant tomcats descended from Hemingway's own pets.

The fight against fascism

In 1937, Hemingway traveled to Spain to report on the Spanish Civil War, a devastating conflict

between governmental Republicans and Franco's fascists, for the North American Newspaper

Alliance.

Naturally, he couldn't resist getting involved.

Hemingway paid to send ambulances to Spain, produced and narrated a pro-Republican documentary,

and is even thought to have fought behind fascist lines.

The war put a strain on Hemingway's marriage with Pauline, who was a devout Catholic and

a fascist sympathiser.

He soon fell in love with the woman who would become his next wife: Martha Gellhorn.

After a painful and dramatic split with Pauline, Hemingway and Martha married and bought a

home together, just outside Havana.

"Oh thank you.

Cheers!

I guess…"

A madcap war

For Hemingway, the Second World War was a little more colorful than the First.

He first approached Cuba's U.S. Ambassador and offered to set up a spy network to monitor

Nazi sympathizers on the island.

His team of undercover operatives included waiters, fishermen, prostitutes, aristocrats,

and priests.

Hemingway then requested a supply of bazookas, hand grenades, machine guns, and radio equipment

from the embassy, all with the intention of using his fishing boat to hunt German submarines

in the Caribbean.

Hemingway and his "Rough Riders" never quite managed to sink a U-boat, however, and Martha

Gellhorn considered the enterprise no more than an excuse for Hemingway and his pals

to waste fuel and go drinking.

"Not a bad way to start the day, huh?"

Hemingway finally topped it all when he "liberated" the bar of the Paris Ritz, days after the

Germans had already left, by showing up with a jeep and a machine gun, demanding entry,

and racking up a tab for 51 dry Martinis.

The Nobel Prize

Having divorced Martha during World War II, Hemingway returned to Cuba to live with his

latest wife, Mary.

In 1954, he received literature's highest honor: the Nobel Prize.

According to The New York Times, he was granted the prize for "his powerful, style-forming

mastery of the art of modern narration, as most recently evinced in The Old Man and the

Sea."

Six years later, Hemingway and Mary left Cuba, and moved to Idaho.

His last days

The 1960s saw Hemingway endure a steep decline in both his physical and mental health.

Eventually, he checked in to the Mayo Clinic in order to receive electroshock therapy for

his growing paranoia and anxiety.

But it didn't help.

Despite further "treatment" at the clinic, Hemingway's suicidal tendencies worsened considerably,

and, on July 2nd, 1961, Hemingway shot himself with his favorite shotgun.

At the time of his death, Hemingway had published seven novels, married four women, fought in

three wars, and survived two plane crashes.

He was buried in Ketchum, Idaho, but his legacy as a man whose life was larger, and stranger,

than the fiction he wrote has lived on for years afterward.

Here's to you, Papa.
