[Chill-out music]
Hello creative filmmakers, thanks for watching Orange83.
In today's video editing tutorial I'm going to show you how to create this transition.
[Music]
To create this transition, we're going to make some sort of footage wall
and then we're going to zoom out and in again.
We're going to do this all inside Adobe Premiere Pro.
And this effect should also be working in older versions,
like CS6 or CC 2015.
For some parts of the transition I've also made a preset.
You can download this on my Sellfy page, you can find the links below.
We're going to do this tutorial in two parts.
In the fist part I'll show you how the transition is build.
In the second part I'll show you how to import the preset and how to use it.
You can also find timestamps for each part in the video description.
Before we head over to Premiere, I want to tell you about the sponsor of this video,
Envato Elements.
If you are a creator and you need unlimited access to high quality assets,
you definitely need to check out Envato Elements.
At the moment of recording this video, their huge library contains
over 600,000 video templates, WordPress themes, stock photos, fonts
and also including high quality stock video,
like the clips that I used in the beginning of this video.
And the best of all is that you can download unlimited for just $16.50 a month.
I honestly think that this is a great deal,
so, go check it out, links in the video description.
Now, let's head over to Premiere.
So, first I will show you how this transition and the presets are made.
This way you know what to adjust if you want to customize them.
If you only want to see how to use the presets,
then you can forward to this timestamp.
Inside Premiere I've already got two clips on the timeline
that we're going to use for this transition.
And I've also got two stills that we're going to use for the footage wall.
Of course, you can also use two other video clips instead.
Now, to start off we're going to put the second clip on the second track of the timeline
partially above the first one.
I've found that around 3 seconds of overlap is best for this transition.
And next, we're going to add both stills to the timeline, right above the other two clips.
And then we're going to switch over to the Razor tool by hitting the C key
or click this icon here, and then we're going to cut the tracks at this point.
And we'll also cut the bottom track at this point.
Then we can switch back to the Selection tool again and then remove the parts that we just cut off.
And we can also move this clip back to the first track again.
Now we've got the four parts that we're going to use for the footage wall.
But before we're going to do that, we first need to do some scaling.
I will select the first still that we want to resize and then move over to the Effects Control panel
and adjust Scaling.
These high resolution stills from Envato Elements are a bit too large.
That's why we're going to re-scale them so they will fit the frame.
We also want to adjust the second still,
so we're going to disable the top layer for now.
And then select the second image on the timeline and also adjust this one
in the Effects Control panel.
In case you should also need to adjust Scaling for the second track,
you could always disable the third track and so on.
In the next step we're going to do a lot of nesting.
We're going to do this because all the layers have different resolutions.
And, to do this, right-click on the layer and select Nest.
Then accept the default name and click OK.
And we're going to do the same for the other three layers as well.
If we don't do the nesting, all the next steps in this tutorial will fail.
And to make this one complete, we will also nest the four nested sequences.
Simply select them all, right-click and select Nest.
Now we can double-click on this nested sequence and then we will see the other four nested sequences.
Okay, so now in the next steps we're going to apply the Transform effect
to all the nested sequence layers.
Inside the Effects panel you can search for Transform
and you will find this under Video Effects: Distort.
Drag it over to the timeline to apply it to all the layers.
Now that all the layers have got the Transform effect applied,
we're going to adjust them one by one inside the Effects Control panel.
We will set the scaling value to 50% for all the four layers.
And we want this still to be in the top left corner, because
the transition will be from top right to bottom left.
So I will set the position values to 960 by 540.
This, by the way, is a 4K 16:9 aspect ratio sequence.
If you're using a full HD resolution then you need other position values.
But don't worry, this is all included in the presets.
It's all just to show you how it's built.
So, if you're lost at this moment, you can always skip forward to this timestamp,
there I will show you how to import and how to use the preset.
Let's continue on with the next layer.
This is the second still and we want this one to be in the right bottom corner.
As you have just seen, we need to put this one at 2880 by 1620
and also set scaling to 50%.
Next, we've got the second clip in the video transition.
Again, we're going to move from top right to bottom left, so this one needs to be in bottom left.
First, I will set scaling to 50 and then change position values to 960 by 1620.
We've got the first clip left to change the settings.
First, we'll set scaling to 50 and then change position values to 2880 by 540.
We've got all the layers on the right position, including motion in the videoclips.
We can close this nested sequence and go back to the first one.
As you can see, we've now got the four clips ready for the zoom out and in animation.
And we will also do this with the Transform effect,
so, apply this to the nested sequence.
Then make sure you've got the nested sequence selected
and then enable keyframes for scaling and position inside the Effects Control panel.
First, we'll create a couple of keyframes for scaling.
We'll need two keyframes of 200% at the beginning and the end of the transition.
And we'll need two more keyframes at 100%.
And these two will be in the middle of the transition.
And these are the four keyframes that we'll need for scaling.
Next, we're going to create a couple of keyframes for positioning.
The first one will be the right top corner.
So, we'll use Position 0 by 2160.
And we'll put this keyframe at the beginning of the transition.
And next we'll need two keyframes with value 1920 by 1080 for the middle.
And make sure that it's aligned with the scaling keyframes.
We'll need another one, and also align this one with the scaling keyframe.
And the final keyframe will be positioned at the left bottom corner.
And the value for this is 3840 by 0.
And that keyframe needs to be at the end of the transition.
We'll make the animation a bit more smoother.
Right-click on the last keyframes and then select Ease in.
We'll do the same for the first two keyframes, right-click and then select Ease out.
And now we have finished the top right to bottom left zoom transition.
And luckily for you, I've made a couple of presets in 8 different directions.
I'll show you now how to download, how to import and how to use the presets.
Like I've mentioned, you can download my preset pack for free on my Sellfy page.
If you follow the link in the video description, you will get to this page,
you can download for free, or you can buy me a cup of coffee if you like my work.
You can enter any amount and then click "buy now".
In the next screen select your country and also enter a valid e-mail address,
and then click Download.
And then, in a couple of seconds you will find a download link in your e-mail.
And once you've downloaded the presets,
you will find a Zip file in your download folder.
You first need to extract the Zip file.
In Windows 10 you can right-click on it and then select "Extract All".
Then select a destination folder for the files, click "Extract" and you're done.
Once extracted, you will have two files,
the first one is an instruction manual and the second one is the preset file.
Inside Premiere go to the Effects panel, go to the Preset section,
right-click on it and select Import Presets.
Then browse to the folder where you got the Premiere Preset file,
then search for the preset with this file extension,
and then double-click on it to open it.
If you go back to the Effects panel inside the Preset section,
you will now find an Orange83 preset bin,
and inside that bin you will find Transition Pack Nr 6 including all the presets.
Now, let me quickly show you how to use the presets before we end this video.
Okay, for the Preset Demo we're going to use these two clips from Envato Elements
and also these two stills.
Let's start off by putting the second video on the second track
and overlap it with the first one around 3 seconds.
Of course, you could make this longer or shorter, if you prefer.
And then put the two images right on top of both clips.
Then switch to the Razor tool and cut the tracks like this.
Switch back to the Selection tool and remove the parts that we just cut off
of the images, and also put this video back to the first track.
Move the time indicator above the stacked layers, select the top layer
and resize or rescale if necessary.
Then, temporarily disable that track and select the layer below,
and also here, resize or scale if necessary.
Enable all the tracks again if you're finished resizing or rescaling
and then nest all the layers.
Like I mentioned before, nesting is necessary because we've got different dimensions
for a couple of layers.
Now that we've got all the layers nested,
it's time to position them on the footage wall.
For this we've got the presets.
Go to the Effects panel, go to the Presets section and go to Transition Pack Nr 6.
These are the presets for 8 different directions
and in the sub-folder Position you will find the presets to position
all the layers on the footage wall.
Like I've mentioned, we've got 8 different directions for the transition.
That means you have to select the direction beforehand,
and then determine the position that is necessary for each layer.
For this demo we're going to use the top one, the bottom left to top right transition.
Now that we know which transition direction we're going to use,
we can apply the position presets to the layers.
Everything in the right place to make the transition from bottom left to top right.
And the next step, select all the 4 layers, right-click and nest again.
And now the final step is adding the right preset to the nested sequence.
And that is all you have to do to create this transition.
[Music]
And that concludes this tutorial on the Footage Wall Zoom Transition.
I don't have any better name for it, but perhaps you do,
and if you do, let me know in the comments below.
I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
If you did, then please give the video a thumbs up,
that really helps me out a lot.
For now I say thank you for watching, I hope to see you back soon for more,
see you next time on Orange83.
