So this is how the meter was looking with stock bulbs
and this is how it looks with the LED bulbs.
In this video i am gonna show you that how
you can replace your stock speedometer bulbs in LED's.
As we all know that
basic commuter bikes come with yellow
halogen bulbs... Due to that speedometer doesn't looks good.
Which is the biggest reason of switching to LED's.
Second reason is that
LED bulbs are a lot more
bright as compare to halogen bulbs.
And the third reason is that
Led bulbs consumes less power than halogen bulbs.
So these are the three big reason for why we
should use LED bulbs.
So to replace the bulbs we need to access the
back side of the speedometer... and to do so we have to remove the front visor.
I have showed this process in detail in my "AHO DISABLE" video
in which i have installed
this switch. This bike had AHO and i have
installed a headlight switch in it that even without cutting any wire.
So if you want any info about Headlight Switch or Visor Removal than
You can watch that video of mine.
I will link that video in the i button above.
So now lemme remove the visor.
So after removing the headlight mounting bolts... put a soft cloth on the mudguard
and put the light on the cloth to prevent scratches.
There are three 10 mm nuts below the speedometer plate
Two of these have washer
and one doesn't have a washer... instead it has a clamp.
So let's remove them.
that's one...
that's two...
and that's three.
Than we have to take out the speed sensor cable from the speedometer.
Remove the ignition key
And put a soft cloth on the handlebar.
Than lift the meter and put it onto
the cloth.
No need to disconnect the speedometer wires
because the wire is long enough that we can tilt the meter.
And now let's take the cover off... some meters doesn't have cover so
you can access the bulb sockets directly.
But this one has a cover so we have to take that off.
We have to remove 4 screws to remove it.
And it will come off.
And now we can see all the sockets of the meter.
The black dots that you see here
Are the bulb sockets.
So we have to remove these... take out the bulb and just replace it with LED.
But before you do that remeber
If the current setup of your bike is AC (Alternative Current) which it will have
Because bikes which come with such speedometers
surely have a ac current setup.
So we have to convert it from AC to DC.
AC means
If the intensity of your bike's headlight/speedo light fluctuate
if you open or close the throttle
Than your bike is equipped with AC setup.
To convert this AC into DC i have already made a video
I will link it in the i button above.
You can watch that video and then
convert AC into DC
And than you install these Led bulbs.
If you will install LED Bulbs in AC than they will get blown after sometime.
And you have to install halogens again.
So now lemme take the sockets outone by one...
replace the Halogens with the LED's.
You can remove all of them at once as well but
then you will have to find that which socket goes where .
and that's a real pain... So let's do it one by one.
So i will remove this one first.
Take out the bulb and
Install the LED bulb.
And before you put the connector back in the socket
Do check if the LED is working properly
Because halogens can be mounted in any direction
But LED bulbs can be mounted in one direction only... Otherwise they won't glow.
So turn the ignition on and switch on the parking lights.
And it's working but if it wouldn't then
i have to took it out and install it in the opposite way.
Lemme show you this by putting it
in the opposite way
And as you can see it's not glowing
That's why it's very important to check before you put it back.
Otherwise you will put everything back and your bulbs won't glow.
And it will be a real pain... So now let's put it back.
So lemme change others as well
This one is of Neutral Indicator.
These LED bulbs are too bright for it
and won't look that great
So i am installing a bit less bright LED in it.
This bulb is of High Beam Indicator
It glows when you operate high beam or pass light.
It's cover is of blue color so
white LED won't look that great
So i am using this blue LED.
So after switching pass switch this isn't glowing
So let's change
the direction of it
And it's glowing.
So these 4 bulbs have
colored cover on them so
So switching to LED bulbs isn't gonna make any big difference in there color
But as LED bulbs consume less power
we should change them as well.
Take the bulb out and put the LED.
And to check this one
turn on the indicator of the same side
And it's working but it's not blinking...
That because we have removed the front indicators
So when we will
Put the indicators back... It will start blinking.
Same process on the other side as well.
Turn the indicator switch on
And it works.
And we have changed all the bulbs with LED's.
Now let's put everything back.
And as i always say
Assembly is the opposite of removal.
So lemme just assemble
everything quickly.
Done with assembly.
Let's check if everything is working properly.
Neutral Light is working
High Beam indicator is also working properly
Indicator symbols are working fine as well.
Now let's check the illumination LED's
So lemme switch off the lights for a better view
And these are working perfectly as well.
Don't know if the camera is doing the
justice or not
But they are looking 10 times better
Than the halogens.
So that's about the video guys... Hope you liked it.
